hey I'm too shy to ask off anon but do you have tips on finding illustrator work in finland. I have zero marketable skills besides drawing but I have NO idea how to find people who want to hire me

(Im gonna answer in eng since you msgd in eng but im gonna tag this w fintags in case someone has extra tips- im a super beginner in my work area so im sure there's other more compitent ppl out here who might wanna add answers etc? :0)

OK SO IM SUPER W U im like ass at anything that isnt art, like, i tried a lot of other stuff before i succumbed to doing graphic design/art as a job bc i just did so bad at everything. Which, im sure ill be doing a bunch of other stuff on the side throughout my life because IT. IS NOT EASY!!! ITS A SUPER HARD JOB TO GET WORK IN!!! I mean im on the medicore side as an artist so it might just be me but LMFAO. I dont wanna scare you off but it is tough HOWEVER. yes there are things you can do ill readmore this tho

I think the easiest to get into IS like. private commission work. The usual "drawing ocs or fandom stuff" for people. It requires a lot of self marketing- building a platform, making your art a desirable object. Im planning personally 2 open comms again after my current gig is done, and ive been hearing good stuff about the small business options osuuspankki offers- re: being able to do the billing via paypal &helping w the taxing which makes overseas work a LOT easier to figure out. I cant swear on them personally tho since i have not used their services before, but i can give more info in abt a month when Im planning on looking into them more! So. Online market yourself. (you can ask further on this but this post would be too long if i get into that, also im not like a master of this), commission work. PRICE YOUR STUFF RIGHT, Look into how long it takes you to make your pieces and create an approx. price based on your hours spent working. And then price higher.

As for a lot of the stuff i do&post about here. I personally DID start w education, which, i am incredibly lucky I could. I studied graphic design/illustration in Ikaalinen, its a really great school which i can recommend if that is an option for you. I could talk abt it more but I think the main things i got from that education was a) making connections b) learning how printing works which is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT. If you want to work in book illustrations which i have done, I recommend looking into the technical aspects of printing on your own. You can learn it online definetly. As for connections, thats a little tougher, but really anything beyond for me has been. Just making a portfolio & CV and emailing and asking for work. Its tedious and annoying but yeah.. Other options im aware of for illustration work is like. in advertizing (though its kinda rare to do ILLUSTRATION), game companies (theres a lot of other stuff you need 2 learn there tho)... Ik some ppl sell their illustrated products eg. stickers, prints etc, but idk anything abt that section. In finland its rly tough bc you rly dont. I like got curious and just googled "kuvitus töitä" and yeah theres just Nothing. It is abt looking for where illustrations could be (looking for small book publishers, looking for childrens books writers specifically and reaching out to them, etc etc) and reaching out and being a pushy bitch its AWFUL its my least favourite part of this job but it is. Yeah..

Had a sudden urge to draw the third page for that one entrapdak fam comic I did a while ago :))))

I know explaining your own art is cringe and pretentious but I want to scream about this page so bad so please don't mind my silly commentary ><

Forgot to add, but here Anillis also calls Hordak "Poppy!". The very first thing baby Prime did when he saw Hordak was to give him a name (or rather a nickname)

Сomparing Hordak's eyes with poppy flowers, Anillis literally shows acceptance and appreciation for his imperfections, the very "defect" his (Prime's) future self will despise so much

Literally everything about the song and it's lyrics makes me wanna go feral gpfohpfphp (but it's so hard to translate i hate it here might've missed translation error too :/)

Hordak looking so lost, and vulnerable and younger and so full of HOPE-

I'm still unsure whether or not everything holo-Anillis did and said was pre-recorded so this part is up to interpretation

also NOT a fun fact: In spacebats' culture a term "Flower eyes" was sometimes used when reffering to someone who is dead (and the fact that Anillis is pointing at his eye aka at himself HELP)

As well as they symbolize remembrance and eternal sleep(death) poppy flowers are also associated with sleep in general. In that case, could this image of Anillis be a hint that neither Hordak nor Kadroh are fully "awake" yet and still need to open their eyes to some things about themselves, their past and their dead tyrant brother? I dunno c:

Sooo I finally sat down and decided on final designs for Anillis (young Prime) and his brother Hec-Tor!

An interesting Hordak/Entrapta parallel i can't stop thinking about

At a certain point in their lives both of them 1) were exiled and basically sent to die by someone who was important to them and whom they fully trusted (a friend/family/god) 2) got stuck in a strange place, isolated from the rest of the world/universe, all alone (lol speaking of trauma bonds...)

Two very similar and yet very different situations. And here’s the fun part: the main difference between Entrapta and Hordak’s stories is the opposite ways in which they react to their opposite circumstances, cope with and adapt to new changes

Huh, so it looks like I never posted one of my iterators before. Anyway, this is Datalog Of Resentment, or DOR for short! I barely have things planned for her, except that she was a newer iterator.

Tired of trying to solve the Ancients problem, she got bored and made a way to get out of her can and explore around. I'm currently trying to give her some more content but that's it for now.

Here it is! I'm gonna put the ramble under the read more (its A LOT of text). In case anyone has any question about it I'll gladly answer!

It's name is Cleaner

FP gets desperate and decides to crate a slugcat to deal with the rot

Cleaner is semi biological

He menages to make so the Cleaner can actually kill the rot, or at least remove them from the can

Although small compared to other slugcats it's still really deadly and quite agile

It has tendrils to help navigate the can but also to get rid of the daddy long legs

To not eat the neurons it eats the proto daddy long legs or the actual ones

It has the communication mark to be able to understand FP

At some point FP gets to infected and enters a "hybernation" mode, letting Cleaner on it's own

There are 3 ways things could go: The good ending, The true ending and the bad ending

I still thinking about the good ending, so I don't have everything figured out yet but the way I see is that, Cleaner menages to get rid of all the rot and FP turns on again, this however would still give him some major damage, so either he keeps living like this or SRS somehow gives him some help

The true ending, wich is more likely to happen, Cleaner can't deal with the rot fast enough and FP dies, it gets devastated and so follows the last order gave to him: Seek the void sea and transcend, and so it does

I think FB would not be as much of a jerk to doom the little guy to the same fate as him so that's why he let's it transcend

The one drawing of FP holding Cleaner is what would appear once it transcended (little guy just wanna be held :-:)

Cleaner has feelings, (FP didn't know about that)

That makes things even more angsty once you understand that Cleaner feel like a failure when it can't help FP

It heads straight to the void sea so it probably never meets BSM

In the bad ending FP dies and so does Cleaner

It gets infected and is slowly consumed by the rot as well

It can feel pain, but not as much as the emotional pain from letting FP dies as well as itself, it's horrible :(

If the good ending happens I think FP would let Cleaner free to go, but it chooses to stay with him, who knows when FP may need help again :)

FP would probably annoyed at it first, but would warm up for the little guy as well

He wont tell, but he really likes the company

It's like having a pet, but better!

If Cleaner somehow maneged to meet the other slugcats, as long as they didn't eat the neurons or damaged FB, their interaction would go like this:

Hunter: Would feel some sort of sympathy, they both were made to help, but hunter has a limited time

Cleaner would probably guide and help Hunter out of the can, even giving some spears that it find

Survivor: Doesn't trust they, might even be aggressive towards them, always keeping an eye on them in case it does anything it would consider bad

Monk: Who doesn't like them? Monk would probably bring something to Cleaner and be careful around the can

“Antonio?”

Sitting up on your bed tossing away the sheets, you turn on the small lamp somewhat worried. It's too late and his gloomy tone of voice worries you. For Jay, you know it hasn't been a good week in the way of the delicate case they have had in his hands. A guy who used to rape and murder officers, just because he thought they didn't deserve to live. In the academy, the instructors teach you to catch the bad people but not to deal mentally with what they do. Every cop has their own way to confront him. Your brother, for example, likes to play videogames to escape from the world.

“You okay?” Whispering, you curl up your legs to your chest, resting your cheek on them.

“Yeah, just wanted to hear your voice”.

You can't help but draw a shy smile on your lips, feeling your face slightly burning. You can't lie and say that he hasn't attracted you since Jay introduced you. He has always been kind and tender, and more funny than your middle-brother had told you.

Last night you went to dinner after work and he drove you to your house. And no, you weren't expecting him to kiss you, just as he wasn't expecting you to correspond it with something else than a physical attraction. You can assure that you're in love with him, but you know you are falling for him a little more every time Antonio looks at you and smiles for no reason.

“Whe—Where are you?”

“Close to the beach. Walking. Clearing my head”.

Puckering your lips, placing your eyes over the large window in front of your bed, you try to not succumb to a new necessity you didn't know you had.

“Wanna come over…?”

“I'd like it”. The murmur appears after some seconds of silence, racing your heart for an instant.

“'Key, see you now”. Biting your bottom lip to contain a smile, you hang up the call.

You decide to get up from bed, being aware that if you stay there you'll end up falling asleep again. The beach isn't too far from your house, knowing the way to perfection. It's your favorite place to have something for dinner after a long shift in the cafeteria you work in. Taking the advantage to bring some order in your flat, you lose track of time till the knocks on the main door claims your attention.

Accommodating your hair, you lead your bare feet to the entrance not being able to hide the soft smile that curves up the corners of your lips, when you receive him. Antonio looks tired to death, not wasting time to hug you under the door frame. Surrounding his neck with both arms you take a step to hold him closer, being overwhelmed by all the sensations he is transmitting to you in such a simple gesture.

The hug lasts longer than you could think, not being bothered by that, enjoying every second of his warmth wrapping you. Hearing him sigh with his forehead resting over your shoulder, you push some distance between both to let him come inside and close the door after his steps.

“Wanna drink something? I have beer, coke, whisky… Water?”

“No, I'm good”. He just replies, taking off his jacket to hang it on a chair. “Listen… we can pretend that nothing happened last night. But it did. I don't wanna put pressure on you and I know who your brothers are, but… I really like you. I've been thinking about you, about us, the whole day. In my job you know when you start to work, but you don't know if you'll come home and I don't want to lose the opportunity of being with you, of leaving this world knowing… that I've made you happy”.

These words, the desperation in his voice as he is finishing them, leaves you speechless. I honestly really like the idea of Dark Cacao being closest to Pure Vanilla out of all of the ancients just because of how different they are. I really do hope that at some point, the ancients will end up reuniting. That way we can see a bit about how their dynamic plays out, though that'd probably be an endgame scenario. Let's be real, it's unlikely.)

But!! I do want to see how Dark Cacao has been handling his remorse for his son. Has he been struggling to keep the kingdom together, or has he been losing himself to remorse and staying within the Black Citadel? And would he forgive Dark Choco, were he to make a return? Oh I don’t play PC much: I only have the Fallout series and Skyrim in my Steam archive. All of the other games I’ve played are always on PS4.

I remember a few cool PC games (and a few games that aren’t exclusive), though, so I’d recommend:

Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas: Legit if you haven’t played any of them I urge you to. Don’t care what anyone says, the games’ stories are always what drag me in and despite FO4′s shortcomings, specifically when it came to story DLC (they only had 2, Far Harbor was fantastic but Nuka World needed more to it), all of them delivers. Not just that, the mods. You want a game that can tell new stories over and over and over? Fallout provides that just fine alone, like you always discover something new even if it’s like your 20th playthrough, but it’s the mods that helps the game shine. I’m talkin’ the quest mods and complete overhauls into a new game. For example? Fallout The Frontier: I’m super excited for that one to drop. I’m keeping my eye on another, Fallout: Miami. Or Fallout 4: New Vegas, in which it’s basically building Fallout New Vegas from the ground up using Fallout 4 as a base. The remake we deserve but probably will never get. What is essentially a full remake, another a completely new game... All for the stunning price of... nothing. You get it for free thanks to these amazing people putting their worth into this shit. If you can, support your modders. They do some good work, dare I say better work putting so much care into their creations of the game.

Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Bro it’s basically the same deal here as it is with Fallout: get it for the game itself and it’s fun base-game stories, stay for the fantastic mods. They also feature DLC-sized mods, mods that are essentially brand new games, and once more the modding community continue to amaze me with their dedication.

Ori and the Blind Forest: I watched this game since I didn’t buy it myself and it is gorgeous.

Cuphead: if ya don’t mind being angry, I hear it’s hard but great. I admire it deeply for its animation style.

Stardew Valley: I actually played this one but on the PS4. It doesn’t have like a full and deep story but what’s great about this game is that it’s very relaxing, aesthetically pleasing, and it’s the characters that are surprisingly well written and have complex personalities you get to discover through tiny cutscenes.

The Walking Dead (telltale): Fucking fantastic game, specifically the first two series. 3 was aight, with Clementine stealing the show (but I personally wasn’t interested in playing it because you didn’t get to play as Clementine exclusively like no thx I wanna see Sweetpea.)

The Witcher 3: It looks like a truly beautiful game with a deep and engaging story, so much so that I’m considering playing it myself.

ARK Survival: Okay so, in my opinion ARK isn’t actually worth it’s price tag, primarily because of the toxicity of PVP (like it’s moreso than usual) and the plethura of bugs it has and the admittedly shady practices of its developer. Now, that said? I love the game. For all of it’s faults, it’s honestly really fun: I prefer solo play but if you get a good band of buds to play with on PVP or PVE it’s even more fun. It has like.. some sort of semblance of a story, but it’s mostly just background noise, but this game is absolutely fantastic if you like a game that gives you the tools to essentially create your own story and essentially roleplay it out. That’s what me and my friends kinda did and we used to play the game for hours and days at a time because of it. I’ll tell ya’ll some of the shit we got up to later, I fondly remember them.

7 Days to Die: It’s a lot like ARK in that it doesn’t actually have much of a story to tell (in this case. barely at all) so it’s up to you and your friends (or just you if solo) to make one up and roleplay it. Unlike ARK, this game is sinfully cheap for the amount of fun it provides and don’t let it’s dated-like graphics fool you. It is a very solidly built game and some of the most fun I’ve had with a zombie game in years. It’s also on sale right now I think?

MASS EFFECT SERIES: YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  SORRY BUT THIS IS LEGIT MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME???? FUCK. I love this game! The characters, all of them are so well written and compelling and arguably the best part of the game. The atmosphere is breathtaking, especially the places you get to visit while playing the game (especially Andromeda like wow the game’s gorgeous), the gameplay is fantastic (it has it’s flaws but it works for the game for sure), the dialogue is some of the best I’ve experienced, and the story honestly makes you feel like every little thing you do in the game actually matters. Like everything has it’s rewards and everything has a small story to tell in this game: it’s why when I replay the entirety of it I play all of the games from the very first one to Andromeda. Now, I will say if you’ve never played this game I highly recommend playing the first one first. Not only because of the story but because, as much as I adore the game, the gameplay is.... well. It’s kinda bad. Like it’s legit my least favorite to play because it can be kinda taxing in the gameplay aspect, specifically combat and that goddamned Mako. Also don’t just listen to all of the naysayers about Andromeda if you decide to play it because honestly, it is not that bad. And in comparison to the first? It does a much better job with setting up the series (if we ever get more of it, fuckin’ EA) than the first does, especially the characters. But like all games, I just recommend that you play them and make that judgement for yourself whether or not you think it’s worth your time.

Dragon Age series: I’ve never played the first, I will be playing the second soon, but I have played the third and I’m honestly surprised by how much it impressed me? This game seems to get a bad rep for a lot of stuff but from my perspective as a newcomer, it was a lot of fun to play and the story was fun and the cutscenes, when they mattered, were goosebumps inducing. That scene, the scene where they show their faith in you? I’m not gonna spoil it but jesus. The combat takes some getting used to but overall a fun game with a fun story and, once again, it’s the characters that draw me in.

Far Cry Series: From what I hear the stories are good enough as well as the gameplay and, from my experience playing the 5th one, that’s all true. I dunno about the rest of them but the 5th’s ending though? It’s total shit. I’d recommend playing it because, despite the bugs and some bullshit physics it honestly was really fun and the story did keep me interested to the bitter end. I’m just angry at how they ended it. Yeesh.

Ohohohohohohoho I’m glad you both asked about Kirishima’s pack cause boy do I have answers - okay first things first, Kirishima is only dating Bakugou and he’s the only wolf shifter in the pack (well, Mina is also a shifter, just not a wolf shifter)

In the AU pack dynamics are loosely based on how wolf packs work in the wild: in nature usually there’s an alpha couple (the “alpha male” and his mate) and the rest of the pack is made out of their pups! So by all means it’s just a family unit - once the pups are old enough to fend for themselves they leave the “pack” to form their own family - they’re social animals, so they need a pack to be happy and safe, and that reflects in the AU too. In this universe though it’s pretty normal for wolf shifters to date/marry non-shifters or shifters of other kinds, and when that happens the resulting kids might or might not have shifting abilities, which results in the process of forming a pack being a bit all over the place

In Kirishima’s case, he was born by two non-shifters who had shifter blood in them - as a wolf shifter his wolf side needed a pack to feel well (let’s say, other wolves to play with and learn from and so on) so as a kid he used to spend a lot of time with Fat and Amajiki (both wolf shifters!) who acted as a surrogate pack for the wolf in him - now he’s old enough to have his own pack tho! And while ideally that would mean he builds his own family with another wolf shifter, he ended up falling for Bakugou, who’s a non-shifter and a man, which means the family plan sorta went down the drain. His wolf still needs a pack to be happy tho, and that ended up meaning he latched onto Mina (a childhood friend) and Kaminari and Sero (Bakugou’s close friends) who by this point are as close to him as if they were actual family.

So in theory Kirishima’s wolf side sees the pack as himself and Bakugou as the alpha couple and Mina, Sero and Kaminari as the “pups” - practically though Kirishima’s human side has a perfect grasp on his wolf’s instincts, so all in all it ends up just being five pals loving each other like family, no power imbalance at all (…he does get clingy after his pack members spend time with people outside of the pack, but he doesn’t ever try to stop them from socializing outside of the group and cuddles and general close proximity are all he needs to make his wolf feel better!)

In the UA file there was noted how after he breaks it he needs a while to get in back up, but against Rappa he just kept on pulling it back up every time it got broken? So?? Was that just the moment’s adrenaline making him able to keep going, or did he actually get rid of the cooldown? If he did he doesn’t have a drawback anymore!!! You go my small rock son!!!!

He’s perfectly stable with Kaminari, Sero, Shouji and Tsuyu! (Kaminari and Sero cause they’re friends, Shouji and Tsuyu cause the resulting fusions are the only two Mineta fusions with no sexual tendencies at all. They just. Suppress that side of Mineta completely) He’s more or less stable with another few in the class, but the only perfectly stable ones are those four!

Uhmmm lemme see if I know how to word this properly… it is true that I ship every possible couple out of the four of them, and it’s also true that I ship the ot3 separately too (though I always prefer it if Kiri and Baku are together for ~otp reasons~ haha) and I guess I don’t mind the ot4 either? They give me a warm feeling and I love to think about them happy and together all flopped over each other and being affectionate and loving, but all of this can happen with them being in a really close frienship too, right? And I generally prefer them in that sort of relationship

The reason why is mostly that… how do I put this, every couple and trio have their own very singular dynamics, right? Bakugou and Kirishima’s relationship is gonna be different from Bakugou and Sero’s or Sero’s and Kirishima’s or Kaminari and Kirishima’s, they all have different moods and different feelings and so on, which means that they will have different ways in which they’ll develop too, I don’t know if you’re following me. I’m not saying that it’s impossible for all four of them to develop romantic feelings towards all the other three at the same time starting from such different relationships, it’s completely possible and that’s why I don’t mind the ot4 at all, but when I have such a huge playground to enjoy so many different friendships and relationships and dynamics, boiling them all down to the same “they’re romantically into each other” cuts a lot of the fun, for me!

So tl;dr what I mean is that I don’t mind the ot4 and I might draw for it in the future, but it’s more entertaining for me to pick a couple/ot3 and see how the other dynamics shift because of it then just put them all in the same relationship!

Also, I’m a fan of the idea of the four of them ending up being overly affectionate and tactile with each other anyway, so in the end romance or not what’s missing is just the kisses, isn’t it? I don’t draw n sfw anyway haha

Hi Hi! I've been interested in secular witchcraft for a long time, but i'm finally starting to stop just researching, and I want to try and start practicing! I've collected a bunch of resources, but what are some of the first things you'd suggest picking up from the store? Candles, herbs, oils, etc? Also, any beginner posts you could link me to would be wonderful. I'm all ears! Have a wonderful day

I wanna learn so much from new witches omg. (There’s irony in there.)

Well, it honestly depends on what you wanna do and use yourself. Because personally, I picked up a few of each - I got some tealights from WalMart, bought some cheap incense from somewhere else, picked up some dried herbs from the grocery store that I didn’t already have in the kitchen, and found like five or six crystals I liked from Green Earth. I spent maybe like twenty bucks. That was my beginner’s witch kit.

But, again, it all comes down to what you want to use. Are you more interested in working with candles in magic? Candle magic *is* a really easy but effective method of magic, and candles are everywhere, and really cheap. Most spells use candles in them, not necessarily as the focal point of the spell, but they also do wonders for boosting energies. A bag of 100 tea lights goes a long way in witchcraft. Color correspondences can help, but isn’t necessarily required.

Or maybe crystals are where you wanna go. Crystals have amazing energy, but are a bit more on the pricey side. It can also be hard for people who don’t know a lot about them to tell them apart - the “danger” in this is being swindled by people claiming their crystals are something they’re not. Doesn’t mean they won’t work for their “declared” intent, necessarily, but it means you just dropped a lot of money on something worth a tenth of that. 

That doesn’t mean it isn’t worthwhile to work with them, though. Because they’re an amazing tool, really - you just gotta do some more research, and be confident in where you’re buying from. Finding a reliable dealer with decent prices is where it’s at. But then, once you’ve got some crystals, they’re really versatile. They can be used on their own, or in conjunction with other spells, put them in jars and sachets, or in poppets, make grids, use them to charge other things, just stick like ten of them in your pockets - boom, witchcraft. 

Oils aren’t something I necessarily recommend, to be honest. Not because they aren’t useful, because they are, just like any other tool can be (just gotta know how to use them). I just don’t know a lot about essential oils. xD If that is the area you wanna go in, however, it’s worthwhile to know that you’re gonna want to do some more research on the topic, and be wary of any allergies you may have, and for the love of god don’t put a crapton of pure oil straight on your skin.

Herbs is a little bit of a tricky area too, especially when using them as medicine. It requires a lot of research and safety if you plan on ingesting herbs for actual remedial purposes. If you just want to use dried herbs in, like, jars and spell bags, it isn’t nearly as bad, but you still want to keep an eye out for any poisonous / toxic plants and allergies. The stuff you can get pre-dried from grocery stores and dollar stores are honestly enough in most cases, and there’s lots of substitutes for more expensive or exotic plants, depending on intent.

If you wanna grow your own herbs too, that’s an option, but another area I don’t know a lot about, so I can’t give you any more advice on that besides do some more research. (It seriously never ends, so I hope you like studying.)

I guess this sort of answers your questions, but not really in the way you wanted. So, long story short, what you pick up depends on what and how you want to practice. However, I’ll give you a list of items I would recommend, purely based on my own craft, but I feel they’re pretty good staples to have all around.

candles - versatile as all hell; can be used on their own or in any other spell; bags of white tea lights are super cheap and easy to find; worry about colors later; scents can be used as correspondences as well but don’t hinder in any way

also, if you can’t have open flames for whatever reason, they have LED / battery powered candles in some dollar stores now; not to mention, tech magic?!

matches - they smell nice, and can light candles; suuuper cheap, but in bulk; unless you’re allergic to sulphur, then just a lighter will work

herbs - dried herbs from the grocery store seriously do the trick just as well as fresh / organic stuff; Bulk Barn / Barrel has a lot of awesome stuff for super cheap too; start off with just a few general / all-purpose ones, and then add to your collection as you go along; it starts to build up over time, trust me

sea salt - cleansing and protection; can be used as a base for most herbal mixtures

rosemary - considered a substitute for most other herbs

basil - has like a shit ton of correspondences

cinnamon is useful to have too

if you wanna curse, pepper flakes, paprika, or cayanne pepper should do the trick

jars - do I even need to explain?; dollar store, man; even thrift stores have some pretty amazing and cool looking bottles and stuff

notebooks - not something necessarily overly witchy, but more so to write down what you learn; trust me, you’ll wanna do that, especially with correspondences; also, sigils

also, though, keeping a blog can be a great way to have a magical book; can be password detected / kept secret; tags are useful for organiazation; and then you have us assholes in the community to hang out with too xD

writing utensils are also kinda required to, you know, write in books; black Sharpies are useful for actually drawing on stuff - candles, sachets, etc.; good for sigil work

scrap fabric - but some cool patterns from thrift stores or whatever; useful for making sachets and poppets

sealable plastic bags can do in a pinch though, really; also can be drawn on with Sharpie for easy sigil application

string / thread - tie up bags, herb bundles; make sachets and poppets; also useful for bindings, and that’s a good skill to know

mini sewing kit - super useful to have in general, and all parts of it can be used for something, somewhere

tea bags - seriously, tea has magical properties too; super discreet; and easy as hell; play around with different flavors for intents

crystals - clear quartz is super cheap and all-purpose; buy like five of them and just use them over and over; again, another thing it might be useful to have like three or four basic ones and then build your collection over time; that’s how most of us get our arsenal of supplies

clear quartz - substitutes for any other crystal

amethyst - super cheap and easy to find; variant of quartz; good for sleep and peace and divination; also purple

tiger’s eye - I’m biased because this is my favorite crystal; good for protection and courage; did I mention it’s awesome to look at?

incense - not necessarily required, but I like to have it; smells nice, useful; so many scents; can be found pretty cheap all over too

again, if you can’t have open flames in your place, you can try those wax melters; definitely pricier, but versatile for magic as well; and I mean, they just smell, so, good; my mom has one with like sugar cookie wax cubes; and I come home and think she’s baking, and I get super excited; but it’s a lie

So, yeah, that’s my list, and reasons for what I wrote. That’s just some ideas to get you started. If you choose a path that doesn’t need those things in them, obviously don’t bother then. And depending on what “type of magic” you wanna do, your basic supply list might be very different. For instance, a sea witch probably won’t care so much about kitchen herbs, and stock up on sand and seaweed, sea shells and salt water.

“How is your MP bar doing?” Himiko shuffled over to her friend’s desk after class. “You didn’t draw on your notes all during class… ‘S not like you…”

“Hmm…” Angie pursed her lips into a duck-like expression, sandwiching her pencil in between her nose and upper lip. “Angie doesn’t understand why God has stopped speaking through her lately. No matter what Angie picks up- pencil, brush… bucketofsacrificialblood- God just won’t move Angie’s hand these days…”

“Hmm… Have you been to the museum lately? There’s supposed to be some sort of limited exhibit on famous magicians tomorrow. I saw an ad for it the other day… Looking at art by others might help.”

“Nya-ha! Does Himiko wanna have a girl’s day out, then?”

“No, that’s quite alright…that’s not real magic, after all, unlike my own.”

“May I accompany you, in that case?”

Both girls blinked up in surprise, somehow not having noticed their classmate looming over them.

Korekiyo continued, “I think that it may be intriguing to observe an artist’s reactions to the pieces.”

“Hmm… Mmmm…” Angie vocalizations continued to increase in volume from her place on the bench.

“Did you perhaps not find any of the pieces to your liking?” Korekiyo finally asked after this had gone on for some moments. His companion’s consternation was certainly an interesting reaction to the gallery, especially considering how little ground they had covered before Angie seated herself, bypassing the exhibit Yumeno had told them about entirely. Were her friend’s sluggish tendencies beginning to rub off on her?

“No, no! That’s not it at all! Angie thinks they’re great, in fact!” she replied, sliding her hands into the brightly colored canvas tote she had brought along, and pulling out a sketch book.

“Ah. So you have found the inspiration you sought?” Korekiyo asked, seating himself to perch on the corner of the bench

“Yep! As soon as Angie walked into the gallery, she was hit by a revelation and the light of God shown down upon her once again!” she flipped to a fresh page midway through the pad resting on her lap. “You can go ahead and look around some while I sketch this out.”

Although Korekiyo was led to wonder whether artistic epiphany was due in part to the flickering fluorescent light they had passed under, he remained silent, betraying nothing of the bemused smirk hidden beneath his mask.

The warm fragrance of coffee from the museum’s café area wafted across the paintings as Korekiyo meandered toward them.

The pieces in the hall were mostly landscapes, more or less realistic, and more often than not of lush European country-sides. Even still clad in his Hope’s Peak uniform- the two students having taken the train straight over after class- Korekiyo stood out starkly in front of such mundane subject matter as he took the time to consider each piece.

Angie’s pencil hovered over the page. She hadn’t known quite what to expect when she had first moved to Japan for school, but to her delight, her entire class had been filled with nothing but people that made her drawing hand feel that familiar itch. Angie had thought that any of her classmates would make an interesting subject- the gloomy Saihara, the elegant Toujou, the secretive yet brotherly Amami- yet something about Korekiyo caused Angie’s God to guide her eyes toward him in particular lately.

A bust-shot, maybe? Angie mused as her eyes followed him from one painting to the next. It was, of course, easier to sketch out a stationary model, but it wasn’t as if Angie lacked the talent to work with a moving target.

While the drawing started out well enough- long hair, piercing eyes- Angie’s hand paused when she reached where the lower half of Korekiyo’s face should belong. Just what was hidden behind that mask, anyway? She couldn’t recall him ever saying, much less taking it off. Was he horribly disfigured somehow? Or maybe he suffered from allergies? Angie knew that her own sinuses had been a little stuffy ever since moving overseas.

As she continued to ponder, Angie kept watch on Korekiyo’s expression as he considered each piece. At times, he would give a little nod if the art met his approval, while with others, he would quirk his head to the side just slightly, as if uncertain of his verdict.

A few of the other patrons took notice as well, a group of girls around their age, or a bit older, stood off to one side, tittering as they stole glances.

Soon, however, Korekiyo turned from the paintings, having felt the eyes resting upon him. Angie’s attention quickly darted back down to sketch book as his eyes darted her way.

Having grown up on a tropical island, Angie wasn’t generally one to be bothered by the heat. However, at the moment, she began to think that the museum could stand to turn on their AC.

“What are you looking for?” Angie asked curiously, as Korekiyo perused the gift shop shelves.

The wares on display were mostly made up of tacky wallets, hats, and tees all printed with reproductions of the artwork, interspersed with cheap jewelry and other small tokens fit for sight-seeing couples on a budget to take advantage of.

“A present for my sister. She is ill, and unable to get out very often.”

“Ooh…That’s too bad…” Angie began to look around for something that someone who was homebound might enjoy. It was hard for her to imagine such a situation, the way she had had the freedom to spend from sun-up to sun-down out in the salty breeze back home. “Ah-ha! How about one of these?”

Angie held up a pure white shell, dangling from a silver chain. “It’s a kilala shell! Angie hasn’t seen one of these since she left the island! They’re suuuuper good luck, and a sign of devotion when given.”

“I see…” Korekiyo took the chain from her, clearly pleased with the find, despite his expression being partially obscured. “You sound nostalgic. Would you like one as well?”

“Doesn’t matter if Angie does or doesn’t! There was only the one.”

Once Korekiyo had paid for his purchase, the two rode the train back to Hope’s Peak, before parting ways to their separate dorms.

“I had a very enlightening evening, Angie-san. Thank you for allowing me to tag along.”

“Nya-ha! No problem. Angie had fun too!”

“Angie, how was your date?” Himiko asked with a yawn the next morning.

“…Date? Like the fruit?” Angie questioned, looking toward the lunchbox on her desk.

“We saw him put something in your shoe locker just after you arrived, though. Twas wrapped like a present.”

Once lunch break rolled around, Angie peeped inside the locker.

Resting atop one of her sandals, was a tiny jewelry box, which Angie tore open to reveal the lucky necklace. It was suddenly much prettier than it had been in the shop.

“Hey, man,” Amami greeted as Korekiyo approached the lockers. “I take it your date with Angie-san went well.”

“Date? It was merely an anthropological outing, nothing more.”

“Sure, sure, but she stuck something in your locker.”

Korekiyo looked inside to find a sheet of paper rolled up in one of his boots. Unfurling it, he found a sketch of himself, rough, but filled with an infectious energy, much like Angie herself.

another thing about that incident is that it seems like the fan doesn't think Changkyun and Jooheon undersood them?? it’s bc they’re intp x intj they don’t rly... Understand each other with minimal effort/real communication lmao it’s very efficient. both quiet lil darlings who aren’t emotionally That Open but enjoy their own little space together sometimes?? their dynamic is like... they’re weird in different ways but they’re v chill together. u can tell hyungwon is super fond of changkyun like he has this Expression when ck does anything at all.... i think these two rly love each other’s personalities bc they’re both kind/gentle/peaceful types and their overall ?? vibe is just highly compatible... they’re absolute darlings... v soft together... i can’t think of a favourite moment but i rly rly love their birthday messages for each other last year like changkyun’s message for hyungwon was like “ur rly cool bruh ur rly such a great person” and hyungwon’s message for changkyun was rly... just him obviously doting on him n finding him cute jksfdhg i lov them a lot :(

The whole thing about Knetz and wonho's "scandalous" past reminded me of something. As a PSA to those people who are so insistent and pushy that idols aren't allowed to have sex/date/be anything but straight: Fuck all of you. You do not own these people, and if you really cared about them you'd be happy if they were happy. Like tbh, if anyone that famous and busy could also balance out a relationship at the same time, I'd be so happy for them. It really bugs me how all idols are supposed (1/2)(2/2) have this squeaky clean innocent image where they have to look and act a certain way and have these stupid fucking dating bans because once they don't meet up to that image their success suffers.
