Christmas Burrito

Hey, @dhdrawings​! I’m your @mlsecretsanta​ for this year’s exchange! It's just a small Oneshot and a drawing but I hope you enjoy it because I really liked writing the casual interaction between these two. Happy Holidays to everyone and have fun with whatever is being celebrated!

Adrien and Marinette spend an evening on the Christmas Market with their friends and invent the Christmas Burrito. This is a Secret Santa gift for @dhdrawings​!

Marinette happily accepted the warm mug of mulled wine that Adrien brought for her, humming at the sweet scent that made her neck tingle in an instant.

“Mmmh, thank you, that’s just what I needed!”

The blonde chuckled at that, before sipping on his own mulled wine and promptly burning his lip on it, grinning at her awkwardly.

“You mean, just after your last mug?”

Marinette gave him a little, hazy smile before pulling her shoulders up, humming at the warmth in her hands that comfortably seeped through her gloves.

They had only decided to visit the Christmas fair earlier today, since Adrien had managed to get his Chinese lessons rescheduled for another day, so it had been a spontaneous decision. But Marinette was glad that all their friends had been free and willing to go with them, that only made it so much more enjoyable. And even if it hadn’t been their plan to drink today, it was a Friday and nobody had an early morning tomorrow. Except, of course, if an Akuma attack would strike.

But Marinette and Adrien didn’t count on it. Besides, even if so, they’d get through it, like all the past years.

She leaned against him, as they continued watching a few little kids performing a nativity play, having a lot of fun freestyling and letting an angel answer the door when Joseph tried for a stay, instead of a normal host.

They had chosen a very small Christmas fair to go to, barely enough for 5 or 6 little huts for food and drinks and a few craftsmen selling their goods, to avoid the big masses and the packed streets of the wintery Parisian nightlife. This way nobody would ask Adrien for an autograph, and they had a little peace and quiet to enjoy the Christmas spirit. The atmosphere was nice, almost domestic, and as Marinette looked past her boyfriend and watched Alya and Nino cuddling as well, she found herself being absolutely content. This was the place where she wanted to be.

The longer they watched the little kids performing and spiraling into a science fiction inspired adventure of the shepherds defending the crib against Anti-Christmas spirits, the darker it became around them and slowly, small snowflakes started falling from the thick clouds above.

Adrien softly nudged her and placed a little kiss on her hat, then he wrapped his arm around her back.

“Hey, my lady. Are you cold?”

She giggled lightly, warmed by the mulled wine she was drinking, then she looked up to him.

“No, I’m not. Are you, chaton?”

Adrien grumbled lightly, then he nudged her head and shook his, huffing.

“… No. I’m warm.”

Amusedly, she turned her head to him, watching him with a smirk.

“Are you sure?”

Still lightly grumbling, he looked ahead watching the kids play, then he rested his chin on her forehead.

“I wanted to try something, but if you’re not cold that’s not gonna work.”, he finally replied. In an instant, Marinette began shivering, grinning up at him while she let out a small whine.

“Oh noooo, I feel so cold all of a sudden! My, I need a strong superhero to warm me!”

Adrien laughed at that as he looked down at her, then he pulled her a little closer again. “You liar.”, he lovingly mumbled, still chuckling, “You’re not really cold.”

“But I wanna see what you wanted to do!”, she said smugly, still trying to fake shiver at him.

Finally, Adrien nodded, giving her his mug, then he started opening up his winter jacket.

“Hey, wait!”, Marinette tried, but he already moved to open her jacket as well, and since she was helpless due to the mugs in her hands all she could do was watch, “What’re you doing?”

“Remember when we bought these jackets a few weeks ago?”, he asked and she deadpanned at that, remembering exactly well how she had said she was cold and he had promptly pulled her into the next shop to buy her a thicker winter coat as well as another one for him as well.

“Yeah, when you bought them, for no reason.”

He just shrugged at that.

“Can’t blame me for wanting to share something with my girlfriend. But you know, actually, when I thought about it just now, it’s the same brand. So that means-…”, he removed his gloves to be able to take her zipper and attempt to zip it up with his, “That means we could zip up each side of our zippers together and create a warmth burrito.”

Marinette couldn’t help but laugh aloud at that, causing Alya and Nino to finally turn around and notice what Adrien’s been trying to do.

“Wait, seriously? Would that work?”

Adrien merely shrugged, already giggly because of the mulled wine, and at that moment their zippers pulled together when he closed it, zipping up nicely and perfectly. Now their side was connected, and Adrien let out a whoop.

“Yes! It does work!”

The second zipper was a little trickier because his far arm couldn’t reach the zipper as well, but when he was finished, Marinette felt herself being tugged against her boyfriend’s chest and sighed at the sudden warmth surrounding her.

The zippers on both their sides kept them close together and they were trapped in their warm hug with each other, Marinette leaning against his chest while Adrien rested his chin on her hat.

“That’s actually really nice…”, she sighed when her boyfriend oven started heating her more than just her jacket before, and she comfortably wrapped her arms around his back while he took back his mug of mulled wine before doing the same.

“We gotta do that more often… And we gotta call it something really funny.”

“Oh yeah?”, she amusedly inquired, “And what would that name be, pun-master?”

She almost thought he purred when he beamed down at her, grinning so broadly she feared his teeth would blind her should she look up to him.

“You’ve never called me that before!”

Marinette put a hand on his back as she felt him getting giddy, not liking being strapped to an energized kid jumping around.

“Chaton, no moving too much.”

He lovingly placed another kiss on her forehead, then he started watching Alya and Nino compare zippers and try if they could do the same.

“… Maybe something like… The Couple Jacket?”

Marinette pulled up her nose.

“You can do better than that, Chaton.”

Huffing, he begrudgingly agreed.

“Okay, fine… How about the Zip Oven?”, she furrowed her eyebrows and smiled incredulously as she looked up to him, then he giggled awkwardly as he hugged her closer, “Okay fine, not as much then.”

She laughed and snuggled back against him, shaking her head as she kissed his sweater, then she leaned back a little to take another sip from the mulled wine.

“Yeah, not that one.”, she agreed with him and he couldn’t help but smile at her adorable expression.

“So, what else could we call it?”

Marinette shrugged, before hugging close again.

“Maybe the Christmas Burrito?”, she proposed and he grinned at that terrible name, but he couldn’t tell her that. She was so adorably tipsy and lost in his warmth that he couldn’t do anything else but agree with her.

“Okay. We’ll call it the Christmas Burrito.”

She smiled contently, nodding a little before rubbing her cheek on his chest, snuggling close.

“… It’s a horrible name.”, she finally said and he laughed.

“It is. But it’ll do for now.”

Adrien found himself completely fine with where he was right now. Cuddling with his girlfriend, slightly swaying in the Christmas music that came from some audio system in one of the huts, surrounded by warmth and love. This was the nicest feeling he’d had ever since his mother vanished a few years ago. And he wouldn’t choose to be anywhere else.

- my pigeon spirit is young and vocal. she coos for attention. when i go to sleep, she grunts every time i move to ask where i am and if i'm okay. i take showers with her and sit on the tile; she puffs up right into my side and sticks her wings out for me to splash water on her. she likes to be close to me to get neck scritches and push her head into my neck and preen every bit of me she can.

It was the Baroque movement. I really like the feel of some of those pieces, particularly the darker-hued paintings.

I would love to do that at some point, but aside from the M6 trail (which is just... parallel to a highway and not all that scenic), all the good hiking places in this region require me to be driven to the location first.

think of a piece of jewelry you own: what’s it’s story? does it have any meaning to you?: a gold/enamel pendant that’s a disc with a hole in the middle that looks like a segmented colour wheel. i bought it in the Exploratorium gift shop in San Francisco, I was not having a great time and bought it to cheer myself up a bit? and i turned it into a symbol of overcoming unpleasant thought spirals or something like that, in my head.

do you have a favorite coffee shop? describe it!: i like the tom n toms chain in sydney. i go to the one in central or the one in town hall and i’ve been there so many times with so many people and have basically always had a great time, drinking the peppermint hot chocolate. many hours of bitching/moaning about my love life has been spent there. it’s been great. i was even there with an ex once but the place CANNOT BE RUINED because i’ve also been there with like all of my best friends. and it’s always a stellar experience. yum. also, brainwave cafe which was right near the design building at my uni. a cute aesthetic, nice food, and i love the proximity to my alma mater, and i had nice experiences at uni overall, therefore GOOD ASSOCIATIONS, etc.

GREY. you wake up and if you have a commitment like work, you just push through. if you don’t and you’re in the house, you open the curtains and see how the light level inside basically doesn’t change and you think WHAT IS THE POINT OF BEING ALIVE. also in the middle of winter the sun literally sets BEFORE FOUR P.M. are there any artistic movements you particularly enjoy?: i rather enjoy dadaism as a concept ... man there’s one i think is on the tip of my brain but i... can’t think of it ...? i like luminism. i like warhol and lichtenstein’s pop art. roccoco is fun.

SYDNEY. 50 Not so Nice Answers about Nomad!

So there’s this post that I saw about some harder questions for OCs, and decided I’d fill it all out for Nomad! I did all 50 of them (to the best of my ability), and I’m gonna slap it beneath the break.

And as a heads-up, I reference stuff about him that I wrote about in his backstory monologue, which you can find here.

1. What is one word to shut them up?

I’m not quite sure if there’s one word specifically, but most phrases will include the word “Prophecy” or “Destiny”. Or the name of his homeland that he tries to keep a secret.

2. What is the thing they feel the most guilty about?

His failure to stop a demon from destroying his homeland and slaughtering his people.

3. What is the worst pain they’ve ever experienced?

Physical or emotional? Because Physically, I think the worst was his first few months in Glacialholde Prison, where he had to deal with a lot of wounds as a kid that toughened him up too fast. Emotionally, it was seeing the corpses of his first friends and the burning wasteland that was the remains of his country.

4. Describe their worst nightmare.

Being part of another prophecy.

5. List 3 fears; one “surface level” fear, one “repressed” fear, and one “deep dark” fear.

Surface level, he has a fear of heights. He tries to repress his fear of captivity/imprisonment, mostly because he knows rationally that he can break out of almost any imprisonment. It just sort of reminds him of his past in Glacialholde.

His deep dark fear is just the idea that the future is set in stone, and everything he’s built his life around is a lie, and his cursed existence really is for nothing.

6. What is something that never fails to make them feel sick?

Betrayal of any kind. The idea of turning your back on someone for personal gain is appalling, and sickens him to his core.

7. What feature (physical or otherwise) do they hate most about themselves?

Well, he doesn’t like the fact that everything about him is built and bred for war, for combat. With his curse forcing him to constantly reincarnate and draw him toward war, he feels as if he’ll never find peace, and worries about whether or not the curse is just that he draws war/strife toward him, as opposed to seeking it out.

He also doesn’t like how wonky his nose is because of how many times people have smashed it with something heavy.

8. Do they have anything that triggers them?

Prophecies in general. He gets irrationally angry about them, and refuses to acknowledge any legitimacy with them. He will do everything he can to prove it wrong, especially if it says only one Magic Object TM can save the day.

9. What is their greatest physical weakness?

He’s not graceful, so much as he knows how to stick a landing. Also his nose. It’s like a magnet that draws blunt objects to it.

10. What is their greatest mental weakness?

Nomad has an extremely hard time with tact and subtlety. He speaks his mind, for better or worse, and therefore is an extremely bad negotiator. He’s also got a terrible poker face, and wears his heart on his sleeve, making it easy for others to know exactly how he feels and play that to their own advantage.

11. Do they have any vices?

He loves getting into a good brawl, and thinks fights can be fun if done right. He doesn’t exactly start fights, but he’s also almost never going to say no to one. Especially if he sees something like a bar brawl, he loves how that’s just a sort of chaos that usually doesn’t end in serious injuries.

“Serious” meaning that if someone breaks a couple of bones, they can still walk it off.

12. Have they ever done something illegal? What was it?

Well, he tries to stay on the straight-and-narrow path of good, but he’s had to bend the rules a bit. He’s assaulted officers of the law, broken out of prisons, stolen things like food and clothes, fought a lot of people, etc. While it was done with the best intentions and it was something that needed to be done, he’s still sort of nonplussed when people point out he’s openly broken laws.

13. Which of the 7 Deadly Sins best describes them?

So should I point out the obvious one? Because I mean, I could say wrath, and at this point everyone would be like, “Duh-Doy, Sean!”

14. Are they prone to outbursts (of violence, extreme emotion… exc… )?

So when it comes to outbursts, it’s usually him getting mad because he knows that sometimes he can’t smash all of his problems, especially when it’s someone being stubborn about getting into a kind of trouble that Nomad isn’t sure he can protect them from. He doesn’t know how to tell them that he’s getting mad because he’s terrified of losing someone else, because it’d reveal more of his past than he’d care to tell others.

15. Who do they hate the most?

He really does not like people who try to say the future is set in stone, and hates tyrants, as well as people who owe loyalty only to themselves.

16. Is there anyone who makes them feel inferior?

Truly righteous people, the kind who live out the tenants of their religion in a quiet and humble way and still manage to be the kindest and gentlest souls in the face of any kind of ordeal. They make him think about how crude and violent he is in comparison, and he respects and admires the hell out of those sorts of people. The ones who don’t judge, but offer help because they want to, and it’s just coincidental that their gods teach them to do the same.

17. What sound always gives them a headache?

The sound of anyone explaining politics. Big old debates and stuff like that tire him out and make him think about how unnecessary a lot of it is, at least in his opinion.

18. Is there a certain flavor that disgusts them?

Cabbage in general. Can’t stand the stuff.

19. Do they consider themselves ugly?

Yep! Ugly as sin, but it usually doesn’t bother him.

20. Do they consider themselves unloveable?

He’s wondered about if he’s not going to find true love in a romantic sense, but it usually doesn’t bother him. Whenever Nomad sees others in love, he just feels like it’s a reminder to him that he has something to protect. As for personal love, romantic, someone always there for you type love, he doubts it. He’s not sure if he can manage it with how much he roams around, and the fact that he thinks of himself as a hulking slab of muscle with little to offer in the brains department.

He has PTSD regarding how much he’s lost, and it usually manifests in his need to defy anyone who says he has a fate or something like that.

Yes, he’s been attacked, mugged, and beaten in prison and before that when he was just a homeless orphan on wintery streets.

Yes, in his travels he’s been stabbed in the back a few times, mostly because he’s too willing to trust others. And at other times, it’s because politics sold out the people he was trying to protect, for the sake of a few extra coins.

Oh plenty of times. He’s a warrior, he’s gotten injured more times than anyone can count, and learned from each and every one of those mistakes. He’s been burned, gutted, stabbed, impaled, broken, battered, and everything in between. It’s not something he’s exactly proud of, but he’s glad to say that he’s survived just about all of it.

27. How many times have they been in the hospital?

More times than he can keep track of! Though usually he leaves sooner than most doctors would recommend.

Selfish cowards who are afraid only for themselves, and care only about their own worthless hides and wouldn’t do a single thing to help someone else if it meant coming into their own harm.

This is a kind of weird question. Is it the idea that he fears something in the future? Or the workings of someone in a different place? Is he scared of invisible demons?

The answer to all of those is mostly no. He fears for others, but his own personal safety is something that’s never been a priority.

As a kid, yeah, he got bullied for being a little urchin that had to survive on his own, and before he started to participate in Glacialholde’s “games”, his rations would constantly be stolen from him. As an adult, he doesn’t really have that same problem, though he does deal with constant insults and jibes from nobles who look down on him for being a “mindless savage”.

Aside from doubting his ability to properly do social stuff, not really! He worries about how he intimidates everyone he meets just by existing, but he’s not one to let it dominate his thoughts or stew on it.

Romantic wise, no. I mean, you can argue that his first friendship with his companions didn’t end well, seeing as they were burned to a crisp.

So this is a weird one. He hasn’t ever self-harmed in a conventional sense, but he’s gone through periods where he’s thrown himself into reckless battles and thrown a lot of his sense of self-preservation to the wind. It’s a manifestation of his guilt, and the idea that he sometimes feels like he can’t keep fighting and just hopes that someone will take him down. He doesn’t want to end his life and spit in the face of his friends’ memories, but he also just gets tired of it all sometimes. He feels like he’s made major mistakes and needs to have some sort of punishment enacted on him.

35. If they could change one thing about themselves, what would it be?

He’d make his nose unbreakable. The rest of his body is alright, but damn it, if everything is going to go for his nose, he’s going to make sure it stops being so annoying.

Half-and-half. He never bothers to hide his emotions and can get angry easily, but he usually does a good job of controlling himself when it comes to making decisions.

Some days he is, some days he isn’t.

When he thinks about it, he usually doesn’t want to. Otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to do a lot of the things he can do today, or save a lot of the lives he’s encountered through his adventures and wanderings.

Believe it or not, he’s actually more happy than angry/sad in most situations. He’s a thrillseeker, he loves challenges, and just seeing the peace he’s helped to preserve and create (when it’s not about to be ruined) is something that he takes a sort of pride in.

We stuck to the whole “Due tomorrow, do tomorrow” motto and we stayed up all night, eating food, watching anime and playing games. In the last few hours before we had to go to University, we planned out the presentation. Went in sleep deprived and absolutely nailed it xD We got a really great score for it xD

I have my notes on my phone and in it are about 807 entries ranging from random shit like a single word “zoo” with no context or explanation. Entire novels that I was writing and gave up on the last chapter, also conversations with no context between characters that I made up that have no names. Also, recipes for stupid things like Mac and cheese balls, ideas for artwork/stories/products. Essentially nothing is finished. I also have around 10 sketchbooks that have never been completed.

And my response would always be. “It’s just Chicky” and then they would ask “but is it a boy or girl?” And my three year old self was just like “??? Are you not paying attention? It’s a Chicky” so yeah I was fighting gender normatively at a young age, I was a pretty woke 3 year old.
