I ragged on High Guardian Spice a lot while I was watching it, but I have to admit that ever since then, I legitimately cannot stop thinking about it.
The way it completely lacks plot, hooks, interesting concepts, characters, or anything remotely unique is, in and of itself, kind of incredible. I've truly never watched another show like it. Its not even unforgivabley bad—it's just NOTHING. If HGS were a color, it'd be beige.
The most enticing aspect of High Guardian Spice is how, across the whole 12 episode run, never once do they even ACCIDENTALLY stumble into anything interesting. It IS a special show, but only because, despite all odds, it completely fails to be special at Every Single Possible Turn.
I love it. I've watched it 7 times.

why jikook?
i've been asking myself this a lot recently bc well, why them? why not tkook? or ynmin? hell, jihope even, they're underrated as hell honestly, have you seen that hot tub video? hobi was ready to unhinge his jaw to swallow jimin whole (and who (jk) could blame him.)
but jikook, in a not joking way, hits different. they always have. it's been years at this point that i've been deep in this rabbit hole (within the larger bts rabbit hole, my god, how deep does it go) but i don't recall making the conscious decision to fall in.
maybe a little background?
i'm a fake love army. actually, if we're getting technical, i'm an outro tear army bc it was in the comments of the freshly released fake love music video that i saw someone recommend outro tear if i enjoyed fake love and then it was over for me. extremely not fake love at first listen, who's voice is second on this track? i NEED to know. i'm a yoongi/rapline bias to this day. fake love still fucks though, don't get me wrong, it's a never skip for me.
for that first year and then some, i consumed backlogged content like it was my day job. i am a prone to hyper-fixations hermit, basically, who was going to stop me? my therapist? nah, she picks her battles.
i watched everything i could get my grubby little hands on like someone would be testing me on it later. (shoutout qdeoks, you were so real) i didn't open stan twitter for the first time till probably the end of 2018, really just in time to be slapped in the face full force with the shitshow that was a hate campaign against these boys i was deeply invested in by then, the likes of which i had never experienced in an online space up to that point. it was a truly, truly wild era, don't ever let anyone tell you differently.
all that to say, i've been here for a hot minute and i developed my own first impressions on bts and the members as individuals in a vacuum. no one had to point jikook out to me, they stuck out on their own.
potentially relevant disclaimer before we continue: i am really really queer. i grew up in the united states conservative deep south and had to change high schools my sophomore year bc i was outed and then violently ostracized for being in a relationship with my same sex best friend at the time. it is safe to say i have a lot of feelings about and experience even when it comes to having to be low key (understatement lol) about who you love. i am not here just to make my barbies kiss.
actually, on that note, jikook wouldnt even be my chosen barbies out of bts. if we're in true fantasy delulu hours here, i would want yoonjin to be real. god, that would be the stuff, they're so old married as it is. peak romance.
i think the first place jikook ever truly caught my attention were the memories dvds. jimin has always been a sweet, bby angel taking care of all his members but i remember thinking that he seemed to pay a little extra, special attention to jungkook. and of course, why not, jk's the maknae after all. all of them have always been doting on him and deservedly so. but in those briefly shown really serious, quiet moments, jimin was often first in line. a spot very easy for him to obtain tbh as jk never seemed to be very far from him anyway. maybe if you've never in real time lived the satellite jeon accusations (hi pandemic army, bless you, i hope you make it to 2025 when we have them all back without restrictions) you might find them easier to dismiss but it was so consistent back then in all of the content being released. and once noticed, i don't know how anyone ever un-notices it. but i was in deep before i even realized the water was boiling.
should i talk about why not tkook? or ynmin, for me? i'm just pulling those as examples bc i know they're the popular contenders here but all joking in the beginning of this post aside, none of the other members interpersonal relationships, in any configuration (sadly, RIP yoonjin romance), have ever struck me as anything other than puppy crush/deep friendship/family. and that's not bc i don't think over half of those men aren't queer in some form or fashion because WHEW, that is an entirely different post and we simply do not have the time to unpack rn but it's not for lack of looking.
i started in a vacuum, but i have by no means stayed there, i walked in all of those front doors and sat down and said "convince me." i've got the time and lack of life, i am ready to be won over. what have i missed?
to this day i still regularly try and check my own confirmation bias, i'm obviously looking for jikook at this stage but i'm still ready on my toes if any of the others want to get crazy. (yoonjin i am rooting for you, we're all rooting for you)
and i'm not here to really persuade or sway anyone one way or another either. there are a 1000 other blogs on this site that can probably offer you better explanations, specific clips, and detailed break downs of moments throughout the years and even then people are going to see what they want to see. i just wanted to write some of my own thoughts down finally.
though...i guess if i had to point to any one single piece of "evidence" it would definitely be tried and true gcf tokyo? but if watching that the first time didn't ring through you like a gunshot, i def don't think there's anything i could say beyond that.
honestly, i think so much of "why jikook" for me boils down to the pit in the bottom of my stomach that i used to get when i first began to notice them. when i got past the initial warm fuzzies inspired by the sincerity of their interactions, my immediate second emotion was concern.
i remember the first time i heard some of the other boys make an offhand joke about them being a couple and i got anxious, fast. i thought hide, hide better, please be safe. i began to pay extra attention to the other members in general too when jikook would do things and felt like i could sometimes see a similar anxiety to my own in their expressions. for a long time, i just worried about them and where i saw other people rejoice in their more obvious moments, i was slow to celebrate.
despite my initial hesitation, it's now been about 5 years since the first time they ever made me double take. they're a few years younger than me but i feel like we've been growing up together. (parasocial? idk her.) they're less conspicuous these days, and for lots of obvious reasons, but i feel like overall, their confidence in themselves and each other is quite high. i know that's probably a funny thing to say in light of this last week especially, but i stand by it. i've seen this song and dance before. i have managed my own expectations in the past, taken full steps back only to be beaten anew over the head so many times with enough "coincidences" i felt borderline foolish to try and deny anything. jikook are truly some sort of neuro-spicy pattern recognition drug, i swear.
and i've never really gotten to talk about any of this with anyone before! i'm shy irl, and shy online apparently bc i have just been lurking around the outer lines of this circle this whole time like some creepy creep but i've decided i'm over it. fuck it. growth.gif. idk that i have anything important or new to contribute to the conversation but my god, no one else seems to let that stop them so i might as well take my turn on the soapbox, no?
so 📢 JIKOOK REAL (?) jikook sus. jikook make bandaged queer little heart go boom boom.

I think it's extremely funny and reassuring that you also had basically the same experience with fandoms, especially Transformers, as me(Vaguely involved with a few media when younger and then d̶i̶v̶i̶n̶g̶ falling face first into the fandom rabbit hole without revisiting it again). All I wanted to say was you go buddy, wishing you luck in all of your fandom spelunking adventures ✨
XD Thanks, I am in so many fandoms solely because no one thought to kick me out when I wandered in!
Though it's kind of funny - technically you're right about me and Transformers, but my 'younger' was in my early/mid-twenties, and my intro was the first few Bay movies, then the friend who got me to watch them making some... extremely questionable fanfic recommendations that I read after that and showing me some of the G1 cartoon with the intro and outro removed so it just kept playing for an hour and a half or so with no breaks that only stopped because I had course work I needed to do and was getting rather desperate. Then just kind of... hearing about it off and on in that vague 'it's a major fandom that gets touched on a lot' sort of way.
Basically, I was in every way set up to just really not be into this fandom, so I wasn't.
Then the Toys That Made Us came out, and I thought the Transformers episode was neat, which got me open to watching a 'Top [x number] Versions of Bumblebee' Youtube video last summer, discovered there was a version of events where he and Starscream ended up friends, and after that I broke in through the fandom's garage window and started snooping.
This is the most batshit insane fandom for canon I have ever been in, and that is saying something, because my very first fandom were the original Yugioh and Yugioh GX dubs back in 2006.
This is also the thirstiest, horniest fandom I've ever been in, which is also a shock because I'm in the SVSSS fandom (and was there first!), which has a base setting that involves asking the question, 'okay, but what if stuff like sex pollen and have-sex-or-die plots were just part of everyday life'?
I'm still in shock that Starscream turned out to be such an interesting character, I spent my entire life until this point assuming he was just another boring, untrustworthy minion, and now I care about this bastard and his trine.
TL;DR: Sometimes I just sneak into fandoms in a normal way, but by golly this was not one of those times.
Thanks for the ask!

Freyja’s Falcon Flight: The Grain Harvest
I was late this month in my journey to see Freyja, and so I am late getting this to all of ya’ll, but hopefully it’s helpful or resonates with some of you. If you’re used to doing journeys from a script, great! Otherwise feel free to have some one read it to you, or record yourself reading it. Edit the intro and expand the outro if you need to, but please leave the middle intact, and don’t share the recording without telling them where to find my original post!
I recommend lighting a devotional candle and/or making a small offering to Freyja (perhaps a libation) before you begin. Prepare yourself however you normally would, to do work at an altar. For my part, that usually means wearing one of my devotional hair ribbons and perhaps donning magical jewelry, and acquiring something to go over my head while I journey.
Falcon Flight: Whose Wisdom Will You Seek?
Begin in stillness, and quiet, and darkness. Find your center, and align yourself with earth and sky. As you stare at the darkness behind your eyes, feel and see as mist swirls up from the ground, obscuring everything around you. After a moment, it begins to part, leaving you standing in a flowery meadow.
When you arrive in the meadow, take a moment to observe around you, turning until you see a path. At the entrance to the path are two shrubs, and as you move on that direction, you see trees as well. Shrubs give way to trees and undergrowth on either side of the path, getting taller and denser as you move onward, until they join overhead into an arch, forming a tunnel of trees that slopes downward, getting denser and darker.
Eventually, you notice that the path has become flat, and then it begins to rise. Now the trees are thinning again, branches giving way to brightness, and as the trees again give way to shrubs, you see a gate in front of a wide plain and beyond it, the great world tree. If you have any guides or guardians you wish to accompany you, ones who can join you in flight, call to them now, before you step through the gate and make your way towards the tree.
As you approach the World Tree, circle around it clockwise, until you see an opening beneath one of the great roots. Duck under this root and enter the tunnel beneath. There is hard dirt packed beneath your feet, and the entire tunnel seems to have been hewn from that same clay-rich dirt and sandstone. Not as many feet come this way — the floor is still rough in places, so watch your step as you continue forward. There are torches set into sconces in the rough hewn walls, and their light looks like fire but you feel no heat as we continue past, and you smell no smoke or pitch.
The tunnel curves gently and then begins to rise in a gradual incline, ending in a doorway, two huge stones on either side and capped with a third. Touch one gently as you step out into the fresh air — these are worn by the elements and smooth to the touch. If you look back to the entrance, you will notice that on this side, the tunnel leads into what looks like a large burial mound, standing alone in a large clearing, though the forest is slowly encroaching from all sides.
Smell the air — the pine sap scent is strong, and your nose can tell there is moving water somewhere nearby, even if your ears cannot yet hear it. Now you should continue, following a clear trail deeper into the forest. Your footfalls are muffled by pine needles, and the air seems still. The scent and after a while the sound of water is to your left as you walk, and after a short time, you arrive at a fork, with three paths to choose from.
You have been here before - normally we take the middle road. But today, coming walking towards you down that middle road is our Lady herself. She nods at you, and indicates for you to follow, leading you down the path to your left. A bit further on, she crosses a bridge over a small creek that is running high, and then the path turns again, and you can see that ahead of you it dead ends into a large field of some kind of golden grain, ripe and ready for the harvest.
As you come to the edge of a field, you see many people dressed in clothes of the early medieval period, singing and doing the hard work of harvest: those with strong shoulders swinging scythes, those with nimble fingers tying bundles, and others reaching down to collect the pieces that fall to the ground.
Two figures are larger than life and seem almost to shine with divine light, much like Freyja does. The man in stripped to the waist and wielding a scythe. With every swing of his scythe he cuts more than ten times any other person here. And when he turns to look at you and Freyja, you notice the family resemblance, how he is like a mirror of his sister: this is Freyr. The other figure is a woman with long golden hair that flows unbound around her. She is using her own hair in place of twine to tie the heaps of grain that Freyr cuts into bundles. As she looks up to smile at you, you realize this must be Sif*.
You may speak to either Sif or Freyr if you choose; or else join in the work and speak to the ancestors gathered here, to see what wisdom they might share about the work of the harvest.
[interlude]
When you are finished speaking with whomever you chose, say your farewells and return to Freyja’s side. You may speak to her as well, if you wish, on the walk back to the fork in the path. When you return to that crossroads, bid Freyja farewell, and then continue back the way you came: through the forest, to the mound, through the mound-tunnel and out from under the root, across the plain, and back to the gate, through the tunnel of trees, and back to the meadow. Then the mist will swirl up again, and take you back to your body.
* Okay, yeah, I know, Sif being a grain goddess is just supposition with no real evidence to back it up, but a lot of people do cast Sif in this role, and also when I tried to ask Freyja if I could equivocate without naming her as Sif, Freyja point blank insisted. Which still doesn’t prove anything, but my role here is to share what I’m told to share and I’m sure Freyja has her reasons.
Also, announcement: I’m currently migrating the website, so things might be a little wonky for a bit; bear with me, and as always, you can reach me via email and I’ll sort you out!

Album & EP Recommendations
If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power by Halsey
Halsey’s evolution across her career has been quite something to witness. Having begun her career in pure pop territory, her artistry has developed over time with each new record seeing the American singer-songwriter up the ambition and scope of her music. Now with this her fourth album, Halsey has gone bigger than ever, teaming up with Nine Inch Nails members and Oscar-winning composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for her boldest work to date.
Produced entirely by Reznor and Ross, Halsey describes this new record as “a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth.” Naturally with any concept record there is going to be a cinematic feel, however Halsey has gone one step further and even delivered a full theatrical film to accompany the album, the trailer for which you can watch above. Although I am yet to see the film, there is no doubt that the musical portion is a mightily ambitious and accomplished project, with each song seamlessly segueing into the next despite the array of styles and genres across each track.
It may still be a pop record at the heart, but with the masterful touch of Reznor and Ross, Halsey also brings in some industrial rock elements, as well as a bit of pop punk in places too. However, it is not just sonically that Halsey pushes the boundaries but also thematically as well, using the album’s concept to press the issue of feminism and misogyny within the lyrics. Arguably what’s most striking about this record though is how tightly constructed everything is here – under the watchful eye of Reznor and Ross, the dramatic production is inch-perfect.
Most importantly, the songs here are just fantastic, from the religious imagery and glistening synths that lace the wonderful melody of Bells of Santa Fe, to the raw, grungy guitars of You asked for this. There’s also the atmospheric piano ballad 1121, where Halsey really flexes her impressive vocal cords. Pulsating, stylish electro-pop single I am not a woman, I’m a god is another standout. Once you have been amazed by all of this, the gentle plucking and raindrop like xylophone of stunning closer Ya’aburnee arrives to really blow things away.
In a year packed full of outstanding pop records, Halsey has delivered, for my money, one of the best of the lot. With Reznor and Ross holding the reigns, they help Halsey deliver on her epic vision with both style and control. It’s one thing to attempt a record like this, it’s another thing to pull it off as expertly and vibrantly as this – hats off for this one!

Screen Violence by CHVRCHES
Also delivering their fourth album this week was Scottish synth-pop group CHVRCHES who, whilst predominantly maintaining their vintage sound, have lyrically pushed themselves into darker territory on this new record. Probably their finest work since their debut, frontwoman Lauren Mayberry takes no prisoners as she tackles sexism and misogyny, calling upon her own experiences within the industry to really illustrate the issues being put front and centre.
This is highlighted best on electric single Good Girls, a track Mayberry wrote “after listening to some friends arguing about the present-day implications of loving certain problematic male artists – I was struck by the lengths that people would go to in order to excuse their heroes and how that was so juxtaposed to my own experiences in the world.”
Other highlights include He Said She Said, a glistening synth-driven pop banger that’s contrasted against razor-sharp lyrics with a defiant message at its core – catchy, but also powerful and thought-provoking. There’s also the superb collaboration with The Cure legend Robert Smith, How Not to Drown, which is a moody, atmospheric, and synth-soaked belter of a track. Although it is incredible right the way through, the real spine-tingling moment comes during the song’s outro thanks to the ghostly vocals of Smith being cast over some hauntingly melodic guitars. Outside of the singles, the rawness of heartbreaking closer Better If You Don’t leaves the biggest impression.
All in all, this album ranks amongst their best work and although it may not be quite as dramatic or impressionable as Halsey’s album, there’s still plenty to which you’ll want to digest and ultimately keep returning.

How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? By Big Red Machine
The National’s Aaron Dessner and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon have certainly kept themselves busy over lockdown. It seems they weren’t satisfied with just taking Taylor Swift’s music to incredible new heights on 2020’s folklore and evermore, as they have now also released their second album under their Big Red Machine guise. The most noticeable thing about this second record is that the duo have extended their collaboration further this time around, bringing in renowned artists such as Ben Howard, Sharon Van Etten, Lisa Hannigan and Fleet Foxes, as well as two more collaborations with Miss Swift herself.
Given the talent involved, it is no surprise that this makes for a really special and stunning collection of songs. There’s wonderful electro-folk track Mimi, which sees singer-songwriter Ilsey Juber join Justin Vernon on lead vocal duties. Phoenix sees Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes and Anaïs Mitchell join in for a wonderful, horn-backed number. This track in fact isn’t the only time Anaïs Mitchell steals the show, as her beautiful, soothing vocal performances on opener Latter Days and closer New Auburn arguably provide the two best moments of the entire album.
The two tracks with Taylor Swift are also fantastic, with Renegade offering a sweet, pop cut that wouldn’t be out of place on either of Swift’s last two records. The better of the two though is Birch, a piano-driven, string-tinged ballad which sees Swift simply providing back-up vocals to Vernon’s haunting folky croons. It’s stunning and possibly my new favourite collaboration between the three artists.
Ultimately this is just a superb album, with Dessner and Vernon thriving alongside their chosen collaborators for a collection of songs that will frequently both move and astound you.

Donda by Kanye West
Easily the most talked about album of the week, after several launch events and many, many delays, Kanye West finally released his long-awaited tenth studio album, Donda. Now anyone who knows me knows that I am not a fan of excessive, bloated albums, so with Donda clocking in at almost 2 hours long it was always going to struggle to win me over.
As expected, this is another West project that struggles with inconsistency, with moments of brilliance balanced out with plenty of moments that ultimately underwhelm. Although it has more high points than Ye and the production is more polished than Jesus Is King, there is no track as good as Ghost Town and sonically I found it less inspired than Jesus Is King in many ways. I’m not sure just yet if this is indeed the worst West album, but it is certainly down there in the bottom half for me.
That said, there are still some great moments to be found here. Once you get passed the massively irritating Donda Chant opener (honestly, so painful!), the Jay-Z featuring Jail offers an anthemic rock-influenced gem to get the album started properly. From there The Weeknd featuring Hurricane, the Lauryn Hill sampling Believe What I Say, the heavenly melody of Kid Cudi feature Moon and the organ-backed closer No Child Left Behind provide some of the other highlights. However possibly the finest moment comes in the form of Jesus Lord, a 9-minute epic that sees West deliver some of his best bars in years, returning to the social-consciousness that made him a star in the first place.
If you are a fan of West’s recent gospel-influenced work, then this album will reward you for your patience if you stick with it. For me, although there are some moments I enjoyed, the length was just too much, with this album having the same inconsistency problem that The Life of Pablo had but without reaching the same heights as that album did when it was at its best. Disappointing, but still somewhat worthwhile.

The Awesome Album by Mouse Rat
And finally on the albums front, if like me you are a big Parks & Recreation fan, you’ll be pleased to hear that Chris Pratt’s fictional band from the show, Mouse Rat, have finally released their debut album this week. Featuring classics such as 5,000 Candle In The Wind and The Pit, this one is a lot of fun for fans of the show.

Tracks of the Week
Good Ones by Charli XCX
Coming off the back of the definitive lockdown album How I’m Feeling Now that earned her both a Mercury Prize nomination and a place in my Top 5 albums of 2020, Charli XCX has returned with a new synth-driven banger that packs in an insanely catchy hook and wonderful 80s vibes.
Listen here
Family Ties by Baby Keem & Kendrick Lamar
Also making his return this week was King Kendrick who delivered a fantastic new collaboration with his cousin Baby Keem. Over a brilliant horn-driven beat, the two family members go toe-to-toe and bar-to-bar across this concise hip-hop banger.
Listen here
Alone by Rag N Bone Man & Nothing But Thieves
A remix of a track from Rory Graham’s latest album Life By Misadventure, this version sees Conor Mason of Nothing But Thieves join in on vocals, along with some triumphant rock production that replaces the stripped back nature of the album cut.
Listen here
Spirit Power & Soul by Johnny Marr
The brilliant first track from his forthcoming new EP, Spirit Power & Soul finds legendary guitarist Johnny Marr in fine form, sonically calling back to his days with Bernard Sumner in Electronic. Built on a masterful central riff, pulsating synths and a big anthemic chorus, it’s a belter!
Listen here
Nothing Else Matters by Chris Stapleton
And finally this week, we’ve had plenty of great, unique covers of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica already this year, with Miley Cyrus and Phoebe Bridgers already offering their own take on the classic song. However, I’ve always got time for another and this 8-minute epic from country singer Chris Stapleton is just as dazzling, thanks to some amazing bluesy guitars and his textured vocal performance.

So Henry, you want to start a YouTube channel? - Prologue
Tumblr media
Summary: Twenty five year old YouTuber Sandy Choi has no idea that one of her five million subscribers is the one and only Henry Cavill. When he asks her to help him out with starting his own YouTube channel, she falls more and more in love with her. But she should’ve known that dating one of the most desirable bachelors, does come with a prize.
Henry Cavill x Sandy Choi (ofc)
A/N: What does one do when finding a new obsession with a celebrity? In my case, you write a fanfic series about it... and create an entire YouTuber including a channel introduction. Oops. If you want to be on the taglist for this one (I figure the people on my taglist for Keanu Reeves stories don’t want to be included on this one - if i figured wrong, let me know), please tell me and I’ll add you on it.
Wordcount: 1.3k
Masterlist // Channel introduction // Chapter 1
It has been about three months since Henry Cavill stumbled upon Sandy Choi’s YouTube channel and he is thanking the YouTube algorithms every single day for recommending it to him. He was surprised that he never heard about her before, since her channel is pretty big and well known, but maybe he is too old to keep up to date with YouTubers nowadays.
He binge watched her videos, watching clips from her from three years ago when she started her channel. Seeing her grow from a twenty two year old college student, to a successful YouTuber and young adult author, impresses Henry. He felt like he didn’t have his life together at that age at all and she seems so at ease. She has achieved great thing so far and watching her vlogs, helps him take his mind off his own life and the stress that sometimes comes with it.
He has a YouTube account, but only uses it to be subscribed to her channel and liking her videos. He doesn’t want to miss any of her updates on her channel. Henry is plopped on his couch, cuddling with Kal when he gets a notification.
Sandy Choi has uploaded a new video. Without thinking twice he opens the YouTube app on his iPad. He shouldn’t be this obsessed with a twenty five year old YouTuber, but it’s something about her aesthetic, about her calm way of talking and how she takes the viewers with her. It’s like being there with her and God, does he want to spend some time with her, even if she is just editing a new video, her book or is taking them with her during photoshoots.
The video loads and he gives it a thumbs up before the video has even started. Kal places his head on Henry’s lap, sighing deeply, as if the big fur ball knows that his owner will not give him any attention for the next fifteen minutes.
The slow song fills his living room, as he watches her introduction. They’re all snippets of today’s vlog, since he has never seen the footage before. Seeing her smiling in the camera, makes his heart flutter.
He feels like a teenager again, with the way he has this permanent grin plastered on his face, every time she posts things and he watches the entire video.
‘It’s the first of July,’ Sandy says, as she is sitting in front of her mirror, trying to fix her hair. Her make-up is all set and done. It’s very minimal, like usual, but with a brighter pink lipstick. ‘And that means in three days it’s the Fourth of July and I won’t be spending it in LA.’
Henry looks at his phone, to see that this was filmed two days ago. With the lighting speed she edits, he often wonders if she has some sort of magic powers.
‘It’s pretty weird actually,’ Sandy continues, ‘not to spend time with family on the Fourth. I moved here about seven months ago and ever since I stepped a foot in London, my parents have been sending me some serious threats about how I should fly back to LA on the Fourth of July. My birthday, Thanksgiving, they don’t care about that, weirdly enough.’
Henry lives in London, but he has yet to bump into her. He recognizes the places she visits and when he visits them, he never sees her, though he keeps his eyes out, praying for her to be there. God, he wishes he would just bump into her, though he has no idea what to say to her. Hi there, I’m Henry Cavill and I’m obsessed with your videos? He’ll probably scare her away.
He watches the entire vlog intently, as Sandy is taking the viewers with her for a stroll in the park, a nice cafe that he now wants to visit and eventually she goes to the dance studio.
She is a great dancer and he sometimes wonders why she’s not doing anything with it. The way she moves her slender body and knows how to control it, is absolutely mesmerizing. She posted a few dance covers on her channel, but she’s always alone. Never dancing with someone. He wonders if she comes up with these dances herself, whether or not she is free styling.
The video is almost over, yet he doesn’t want it to be over. She could make vlogs that are twenty four hours long, and he would watch it in one sitting. She’s crouched down in front of the camera, still in the dance studio, while she pulls out her hair tie, letting her long dark brown locks fall over her shoulders. ‘So,’ she says with a soft smile, ‘I’m sorry today was a pretty boring day. It’s just that I have been spending so much time editing my newest novel, that I just couldn’t read the last two chapters anymore, so I’ll be doing that tomorrow or later this week. I work ahead of schedule anyway, so I have some leverage. I just wanted to get a nice and quiet day in, so I’m going home now and maybe rewatch something on Netflix. I’m not in the mood for something new, since I have to focus on understanding the story, you know, so I think the Witcher will do for now. Haven’t had my fair share of Henry Cavill today.’
Henry can’t seem to focus on the last part of the vlog, where she wishes everyone a good day and the outro starts. She is going to rewatch the Witcher? Meaning, she has already watched it? She hasn’t had her fair share of him today?
What does that even mean?
And the way she said his name, he is going to die if he would rewatch that part.
Someone calls him and he picks up without looking. ‘Yeah?’ he says when he answers the phone, still living a bit on cloud nine.
‘For the love of God, man, you’re getting more and more impersonal every time I call,’ he hears his friend Jackson say from the other end of the line. ‘Where the fuck are you, man? We were supposed to meet each other like five minutes ago.’
Henry jumps up from his couch. ‘Crap, I forgot.’
‘Figured.’
‘I’ll be there in a second.’ He storms to the hallway, to find his running shoes, but he has to walk upstairs for them.
‘You’re always on time. What happened today?’
‘I was watching something.’
Jackson starts to laugh from the other side of the line. ‘Let me guess: a certain someone uploaded her newest vlog? Does her name start with an S and end with andy Choi?’
‘Very funny.’ Jackson was never supposed to find out about this guilty pleasure of his, but somehow Jackson did find out, like he always does. Sometimes Henry hates his friend, since he can read him way too well and pesters him afterwards.
‘Well, hope it was worth it,’ Jackson says. Henry can hear the smile in his voice and that means that he is going to mention this during their entire run.
Henry rushes outside after he slipped on his running shoes. ‘It was totally worth it,’ he says. Knowing he’ll tell Jackson anyways, he adds: ‘She said my name, you know.’
‘Shut up.’
‘I’m not,’ Henry says with a smile.
‘She honest to God said your name?’
‘Yeah and she is rewatching the Witcher.’ Henry can’t seem to get the permanent grin off his face. He hears her say it over and over in his head, visualizing it with the lovely smile on her face.
‘You need to fucking grow some balls, follow her on Instagram and slide into her DM’s. Everyone does that nowadays.’
‘I’m not going to do that.’
‘No, what you are going to do is bother me with questions like: “Why is she so pretty?” and “When am I going to run into her?”. Like I can answer those. It’s obvious that she is simply rewatching the Witcher because of the way you look. Everyone on earth is into you, why wouldn’t she?’
Henry clears his throat, before he says: ‘See you in three minutes.’

End notes:
I included the dates that videos were published on since Jack likes to mess around with anniversaries.
Title changes were also listed (Jack sometimes changes these as well, like the firestarter that he is, and this was especially the case with the first episode of FNAF: Sister Location)
-----
If there’s anything I missed, please let me know so I can add it! As a note, I don't add 'suspicious videos', because there would simply be too many - this list is strictly for full ego appearances and glitches. I also try to limit my glitches since if nothing else happens, it might just be an effect by Robin and doesn't necessarily mean anything.
I hope this list helps out anyone who’s new or those who would like a complete reference list!
If you are new, don’t feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff on the list. I know from experience that it can be a lot to take in, but don’t worry. Just take things slow, and don’t hesitate to message me or anyone else if you have any questions about the egos or past videos. There are a lot of super nice and incredibly smart theorists in this community who I’m sure would be more than happy to help you out.
Speaking of theorists, I’m gonna tag a few since they have some amazing theories of their own! I'll also put some additional info next to some of their names since their posts have been a big help to me as a theorist. :)
@fear-is-nameless (would heavily recommend their 4 timelines on ego events, as they contain links to a lot of posts/theories from the time)
@rogue-of-broken-time (lots of good theories)
@isa-ghost / @isas-theory-wall (Isa writes notes on every ego video and their theory wall blog is solely dedicated to theories)
@huffletrax (lots of good theories)

Here’s my first impressions (aka this is what 2020 is gonna sound like folks)
Alright so I’m really behind today, as some of you know I literally just got back from vacation and it’s also my first day of classes this semester and it’s just craziness. Yes I’m posting the first chapter of Yeosang’s spin-off today. But people seemed to like my first impressions of the last album so I’m going to do them again. Thankfully (?) this album is a lot shorter so I can pause and talk about stuff.
Warning! a loooong post, squealing, incoherent thoughts smashed together, and crying ahead. A lot of crying. Keysmashes included.
Post-MV thoughts before I listen to it again: There’s way too much to focus on and I’ve watched it many many times to look at the choreo and the storyline stuff that’s happening, but this is my first time listening without the video so I’ll notice more musically this time. But first I wanna say; YEOSANG’S LINES!!!! I’ve been screaming for forever that he has a beautiful deep voice and needs to be given parts that compliment it. And wow it finally happened :’) Anyway here we gooo
건배하자 like a thunder!! Can you believe they literally spoiled the entire hook of their next song in Beginning of the End? *flashbacks to my utter confusion when that happened* San sounds amazing and I like the little echoey thingies. Gives it a real nostalgic feel. Jongho already popping off vocally barely 10 seconds in. Mingi’s rap here and the transition to Hongjoong’s— rap line goals. The attitude in that mm-mm made me smile ngl. This prechorus might be my favourite part of the song. Seonghwa sounds heavenly. An EDM drop bringing back that hook, good decision and again it kinda feels nostalgic?? Especially the oh-oh-ohs which are also giving me a pirate drinking song vibe wow 0.0 Wooyoung with that 불러 불러 lol. Yes the Yeosang part!! I love a good post-chorus switchup and he. handled. it. perfectly. There’s even harmony, yall know how much I love harmony. And SINGING RAPPERS AHAHDJAHAK YESSSSS. Back to that glorious prechorus but it’s Yunho’s turn. This chorus is just such an anthem. I’m bopping rn. San in this bridge— he said I am a VOCALIST listen to my beautiful VOICE. Yay the rappers going back and forth again!! It’s like If Without You. Man I can’t believe I get to replay this song forever. 2020 is gonna be lit. You hit those notes Jongho! I’m always blown away by this kid, and that scoop earlier mmmm. Just nodding very energetically right now. Perfect end to the song. 100/10!!!!
Okay I’m pausing before the next one starts because no I am not prepared. It’s just like last time; I know Hongjoong wrote this and I know it’s gonna ruin me but I have no idea how and when and what it’s even gonna be like but anyway, too bad, let’s just go.
Oh kinda futuristic sounding opening with the synths? Yooo the vocal thingy in the background, sounds like a sample of some kind, that is super cool and I hope we get more of it. Ok I paused just to write that, let me unpause. This is gonna be a long one, I can already tell, sorry guys 😅 And the beat changed right before the vocalists came in. definitely a back and forth thing here in two registers, very sweet. Wow. WOW MINGI WOW. This rap is?? It sounds super mature and idk just full of confidence. I’m shook. Ok the chorus. Holy cow this is LIT lit. Nope nope I need to pause and go back. This is so chaotic, I feel like I’m missing things?? I’m listening to that chorus again because there were so many elements there. I just wanna take this song and break it down second by second to hear every single sound hahahah. I’m only catching an odd word or two here as far as lyrics go. Oml harmonies 💆🏻‍♀️ Alright Hongjoong’s rap. OMG if he sounded sassy in Answer this is a whole new level and I LOVE IT. Flow is 100/10. The “are you gonna take me there” gives me chills. This song needs a dance this chorus is TOO LIT. Am I at a rave rn??? Oh thank God the bridge took it back a level. Ok I’m pausing because I think I caught some of the lyrics this time. If I’m not wrong I heard 난 궁금해 저 끝이 궁금해, 더 가까이 조금 더 가까이 ? Which is something like “I wonder, I wonder about the end. Closer, a little bit closer” if I heard correctly. I need to look up the lyrics in full later because Hongjoong has a big brain and his lyrics are always 🤯🤩 Ok unpause. Final breakdown! Yep this is going on repeat the rest of today. Jongho yussss with the ad libs. No it’s over ㅠㅠ Alright this one is already vying for top spot this album. We shall see. But I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. HONGJOONG GENIUS.
Um so yeah I saw them perform this live for their anniversary thingy and cried so this should be fun. At least I already know the song so how much can it hurt me? 🤷🏻‍♀️
Smart of whoever put this album together to stick this song right in the middle and make us cry between head banging to the other songs. Mingi in the beginning is just 💖💕💘💝💓 San ballad king. I need more ballads from him. Jongho, of course, with perfect vocal control. Oh Seonghwa too, I need more ballads from him. Wooyoung with T H A T part. A tear is forming, I just love this chorus. People are saying the song should be in a drama and I 100% agree. Everyone together FOREVER YOU ARE MY STARRR. The little drum frills it’s so cute :(( Yay Hongjoong, and his cute little voice I’m UWUWU. Wooyoung with the high note and I’m ascending........... Chorus again and this is the real meaning of crying in the club. It just occurred to me that the second verse seemed really short. Yeosang + Hongjoong + that guitar in the bridge is *chef’s kiss*. This is so emotional, do we really need to do this at 4am?!? I’m just gonna vibe for a sec, it’s the last chorus. The ad libs were so perfect and the way it ended— wow. I need a moment.
From my understanding this is a full version of the Precious Overture they gave us last album. Tempted to go back and see my first impressions about that one, but either way i have a distinct feeling my wig is about to be snatched. Let’s GOOO
So far, it’s starting the same. Creepy humming and all. Okay scratch that, we have a vocal melody. Yunho sounds great ugh I’m so proud. Sorry, San’s voice just takes me to another plane of existence or something, how can it be that smooth and gorgeous, someone please explain. Building to something now... Oo. OO?! Hongjoong’s rapping. This is so cool oh wow, and into this vocal part which I believe is the chorus?? wOW wow it’s amazing to hear this having already heard the bgm, this is like a new level of appreciation. It really all goes well. Ah we have a switch up now with Seonghwa. guys GUYS GUYS you know how I feel about switch ups. Sorry I’m going back to catch something. The tempo changed here and really grabbed my attention. The bass is also super cool, it’s actually the same melody as the treasure opening (and the opening of this song) but much lower, I believe. Uh oh guys this might be vying for top spot too. Let’s continue. Ok Mingi’s rap which I’ve already heard. Um I’m confused now. It’s Hongjoong’s rap again? Is this the chorus?? Woah woah hold on I gotta pause. Because. Wait, what?? This is the chorus??!? Yoooooooo bold move! I have no idea what is going on but I love it. Continuing on. Ah yeah ok the vocal part with Yeosang again, so I guess the rap + vocal part is the chorus? Also I neglected to mention but Yeosang is killing this song. Ooh okay this bridge is building some suspense. Feeeelingggggg.... And now a shouted version of the rap for the final chorus. Okay wow I’m impressed that they took it this direction. And Jongho with the ad libs is PERFECTIONNNN. Oop okay they’ve added the revised-lyric Treasure part to the end here. And the lyrics are the same as in Precious (Overture) so I’m guessing we still didn’t find the treasure, good grief. How long is it gonna take to find this treasure 😅. And it ended like that. Well. WOW. Again, I could listen to this on repeat all day. Again, I am deceased. Instant fave.
I’m pretty sure this is the exact same as I already heard on the trailer thingy but we are gonna react to it anyway.
The orchestra really loosens my tear ducts like nothing else. It’s beautiful, who else is doing it like them?? “Did you find your treasure?” Yes, I found ATEEZ 🥺. The way he says “finally found it” . This is Maddox btw. Also about Maddox, hang on I’m gonna pause for a PSA: guys if you don’t know Maddox please PLEASE check him out. He’s doing the amazing narration on this (and Intro too), he’s a soloist under KQ and one of Ateez’s hyungs who they look up to. In addition to his superior narrating talents, he is also an amazing vocalist. If you like R&B and lo-fi music I would definitely recommend him, he just dropped a single called Color Blind, his insta is xxmaddox, he’s a great guy and YEAH that’s all for my plug but go stan him, he is deserving and proof of the fact that KQ artists are talent through and through. Unpausing! The way the orchestra swells and then goes into a piratey sounding theme is so motivating and familiar :))) “Can you hear those voices?” HNGJRKSNDN WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE SCARY. This is the Epilogue, it’s supposed to be like the denouement, the falling action!! The bad guys should be gone now! What’s next?? Treasure Ep: Answer to Question? Because that’s what I have after this album! More questions!!! Anyway, the bass here and the humming 👌🏻 100/10 for the instrumental. And in ATEEZ fashion, they leave me thirsting for more.
So that was my first impression/live reaction to the mini album! I think it’s Horizon and Precious fighting for #1 currently. Maybe I’ll reblog with second and third and fourth impressions... Thanks for reading if you got this far! And tell me what your first impressions were and if I missed something big while I was keysmashing. TTFN~

Favorite BTS Lyrics, Pt 2
Hello! If you’re reading this, hey. I don’t think anyone particularly reads these but I have fun doing them sooooooooooooooo. Part two. Here is a link to my part 1 if you’d like. This post is mostly gonna be MOTS7 but my last post had earlier songs. Here goes! As always, message me if you wanna chat and all translations/credit is linked.
“Do you know now? That doing your best every time is the best (option).”
^^ Interlude: Shadow. I have to be careful with this song lately because if I pay too much attention while listening to it/reading the lyrics I will legit cry LOL. But, I love this line because it addresses the pressure of feeling that doing your best is your only option ever, all the time.
“When the second hand and the minute hand overlap, the world for a very brief moment holds its breath.”
^^ 00:00. This was one of the first songs on this album that grabbed me and it was because of this line specifically. Time is scary, and I love the concept of everything just stopping for a brief moment.
“Someday, when the cheers die down, stay, you are my soulmate”
^^ Friends. Aaaaaand, the next line that grabbed me. The first part because, damn, I don’t want to think about the day cheers die down. But also, yes, please be friends forever. The second part because this song makes me think of my best friend and that line always makes me sentimental about her.
“It’ll be okay, for the me of today is doing okay.”
^^ Inner Child. I think we’d all like to be able to go back and tell our old selves it will be alright and you will be fine.
“I make a promise to you and me, whatever waves crash over us, we’ll forever sing towards you.”
^^ Louder than Bombs. I think I’m just starting to realize that I am just a sucker for any lyric that is about them and ARMY. Something about it is just very grounding, especially considering that they’re the biggest group on the planet.
“Suddenly I wonder whether you really know yourself, whether you really know how pretty your existence is”
and
“Rather than using any other words, or words of thanks, I’ll make sure to be by your side in the dark, dark night so that it’s much brighter, I’ll watch over you”
^^ Moon. Another fan song. I always love these.
“Fleetingly, the life of Jung Hoseok rather than j-hope passes in my mind. It would have been full of regret rather than hope till I die.”
^^ Outro: Ego. I’m not sure this line needs much explanation, but just makes you think of how much different things could be if he wasn’t in BTS. Except, from his POV. I love this moment of self-reflection and (as I will say for pretty much every song on this album) I love this song a LOT.
“Who am I?” The question I’ve been asking my entire life –
the question that I’ll probably never be able to find the answer for”
^^ Intro: Persona. I want to be impressed that they opened the album with this line, but really, it’s Namjoon so I’m not surprised. Either way, its fitting and it sets the tone for this whole album. It’s applicable to anyone, famous or not.
“ Re-spect – as the word itself says, it’s to look and look again*
If one keeps looking at another, their flaws can be seen
But that one wants to keep looking, despite all that,
means that it’s necessary to have complete faith in that someone
And so, I can’t speak of it easily –
it’s immeasurable, the weight and depth of it
I hope that, someday, I’d be able say it confidently,
wholeheartedly – to me, and to you”
^^ Respect. Not to, like, pull a whole freakin verse. But, shit. I absolutely love Joonie and Yoongi together so this song excites me. I especially like the part with flaws/complete faith, and I’m not quite sure how to explain it properly. I would definitely take a look at this translation I linked, because they provide certain explanations at the end that add to the lyrics. (Also, does everything these two touch just have to be lyric gold?)
“Here, everyone becomes a person with moral reasoning and perfect judgement.
What a laugh.”
^^ UGH!. Everyone thinks they’re right and they know best. I just love this line because we’re all guilty of it and most of us don’t even realize it. (P.S. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS TRANSLATION OF UGH! ENOUGH!!(!) Please read it thanks.)
And also from UGH!,
“Someone’s split second becomes someone’s moment, someone’s fury becomes someone’s life.”
^^ UGH!. “This line means that the thing one does impulsively in a very brief moment can become a significant something that another will have to remember for a long time.” - ktaebwi on Twitter.
I have read multiple different translations of UGH! and I can’t find an exact wording that I feel justifiably represents the sentiment behind this lyric. This translation felt the closest. Everyone seems to universally agree what the line means, but I’m finding that no wording is doing the translation enough justice, and I think that just might come down to the power of language.
I have endless love for this song. In my opinion, it is art and it is a masterpiece. UGH! has such a deep meaning to it and I think the sound of the song hits the nail on the head. It’s partially the sound, partially all the different messages/meanings in the different verses, and definitely the fact that this song makes you want to punch someone in the face. This song isn’t just about anger but is an angry song.
Part of me also feels the only way to truly appreciate this song is in Korean. I don’t feel like translating the lyrics to English does it as much justice. (But also, I don’t speak Korean so.... who knows.)

These have been way longer than they were supposed to be. Oops. But if you’ve made it here thanks for reading :)

Tumblr media
and here is the final Roses playlist, Roses Mixtape Pt. IIII, enjoy x
Tumblr media
tracklist
1. Intro: Karma - y/n = Alarm - Anne-Marie
Karma is about how angry y/n is at Jimin, but also at herself for ignoring her doubts about him. How she knew he was cold and detached and that should’ve alerted her to the fact that she shouldn’t have gotten with him. And for what they both did to each other, they’re both suffering from karma now.
2. Love Me - y/n = And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going - Jennifer Hudson
Love Me is really sad and emotional, and the part of y/n that refuses to give up on her relationship with Jimin comes out in this song. When I watch Jennifer Hudson do this song in Dreamgirls (I recommend watching it), it makes me cry every time because of the raw emotion and heartbreak you can see, and those exact same feelings come through in Love Me.
3. Shoes - y/n = If I Were A Boy - Beyonce
Shoes is y/n saying to Jimin that if she’d been in his shoes, she’d never have done what he did to her, and she’d also never be able to get away with the way he used to behave (the random girls every night and the drugs). Again, this is a very big song and so would be super emotional and upsetting because you’d just be able to hear the hurt in y/n’s voice.
4. Comfort - y/n, Chaeyoung & Jisoo = Teddy Bear - Melanie Martinez
I was kinda reluctant about this song at first but now, I feel like it works really well. y/n’s comfort zone, away from the pressures of her job, the tour, Vic and her past with Yoongi, was Jimin. He was her teddy bear in that she felt soothed and comfortable with him, just like kids do with their teddy bears, but then that thing that gave her the most comfort turned against her, and she has nothing to turn to anymore. Chaeyoung and Jisoo’s vocals would sound super pretty on this song, and also give it a haunting and creepy feeling.
5. Victory - y/n = The Winner Takes It All - ABBA
This is y/n’s admission to Jimin, her way of saying, ‘well done, you got what you wanted, you won, how does it feel now?’ It’s also slightly teasing, as if she’s asking him how his victory feels now he doesn’t have her anymore. It’s got quite bitter and angry undertone, but it’s mainly hopeless and completely sad.
6. Wounds - y/n & Blackpink = Bad Blood - Taylor Swift & Kendrick Lamar
This is the stage where she starts to get over the initial sadness and heartbreak and gets a bit angry at him, saying she hates him and she can never move past what he did. She’s asking him why he did it, why he ruined everything they had, because now they can never go back to how they were. It's also quite a girl-power anthem which is why Blackpink are on the song too, Lisa and Jennie doing Kendrick’s raps, and Chae, Jisoo and y/n splitting up Taylor’s bits between themselves.
7. Broken - y/n & Jennie = Moving Along - 5 Seconds of Summer
This is the point where y/n’s trying to move on, but keeps looking back at Jimin, wondering how he’s doing and feeling now, whether or not he’s still broken too. It’s quite a chill and laidback song, and I think Jennie and y/n would sound really nice on this song together.
8. Dreaming - y/n & Blackpink = Love Me Like You - Little Mix
I always listen to this song when I’m in my feels because you can relate to it, but it also puts you in a good mood because it’s just like cute and upbeat. The girls would do this song really well and it reflects that relapse that everyone has when you’re trying get over someone, when you feel like no one else is as good for you as that person is.
9. Hero - y/n (Mariah Carey cover)
This is the main turning point in the album, where y/n realises that she can’t mope anymore, and she has to become her own hero because no else is going to do it. This song is so emotional and beautiful, and y/n would pour her heart out into it, more than doing it justice.
10. Did Me Wrong - y/n ft. Blackpink = I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor
Here’s another girl-power anthem, y/n looking back and realising that she shouldn’t have been sad over him because he’s the idiot that did her wrong and she’s better off without him. It’s got the retro feel to it and I just think it’d sound really cute but also badass with all the girls on it.
11. Save - y/n & Lisa = Goodbyes - Post Malone & Young Thug
This song is a bit more mellow and laidback, showing y/n’s rationality when it comes to how she feels about Jimin. She’s accepted that their relationship couldn’t have worked because they both had personal shit that they needed to work through and fix before they even got together. y/n would have Post Malone’s bit and Lisa would have Young Thug’s bit to liven the song up a little bit.
12. Kill This Love - y/n & Blackpink (Remix)
Need I even say anything? Kill This Love perfectly sums up y/n and Jimin’s relationship and how it cannot continue whilst they are who they are now. y/n did Jennie and Lisa’s back and forth rap during the tour so she’d do that bit along with the outro section, as well as having a completely revamped backing track.
13. Burned Bridges - y/n & Jisoo = Cry Me A River - Justin Timberlake
This song came to y/n after seeing Jimin cry at the end of their first court visit, and it’s almost as if to say it’s too little too late. Jisoo and y/n would harmonise together to give the song a more complex and layered sound, and it’d be really pretty with all the extra sounds in the background.
14. Solo - y/n & Jennie (Remix)
This song also fits really well with y/n and Jimin’s relationship and basically says to Jimin that she is better off without him, and that he’d better start looking for a replacement because she’s going solo now. And of course Jennie had to be on this song too, so she’s still got her rap after the first verse, and they do the choruses together.
15. Ego - y/n & Chaeyoung = Obsessed - Maggie Lindemann
This song actually talks about how vain Jimin used to come across to y/n. She sings about the way he’d just sleep with all these random girls (because he could get whoever he wanted) and treat everybody coldly like he was above them (but implicitly, so she’s not exposing him), before admitting at the end that part of her loves his vanity, and it’s okay because she’s vain too. Chae’s voice would really suit this song because it’s really light and cute and so is Chae.
16. In My Blood - y/n (Shawn Mendes cover)
This song speaks a bit less about the relationship, and a bit more about y/n’s own personal battle with her mind over the years. First with her nightmares about her childhood friend, and now with the depressive state she’s been in since everything happened. It discusses how close she was to giving up, alluding to suicide, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it, because she knew she had to keep on fighting and stay strong. This song’s an empowering anthem and would fit really well with the theme of this album.
17. State of Mind - y/n ft. Chaeyoung & Jisoo = No Tears Left To Cry - Ariana Grande
State of Mind discusses how y/n’s moved past her sadness and now feels stronger and happier. It does mention that she still gets a bit sad, but that’s okay because her happiness outweighs that. Jisoo and Chae would do the harmonies throughout the song and all of their voices would layer over one another in that opening section in the music video.
18. Outro: Bad Bitch - y/n ft. Blackpink = Sorry Not Sorry - Demi Lovato
This would be the perfect closing to the album, basically a final ‘fuck you’ to Jimin, a way of y/n saying to him that he better be regretting what he did because look at her now, she’s back and she’s better than ever, so he can hold that L. Again, this is another empowering anthem, and all of the girls would equally share out this song.

ぜんまい仕掛けの子守唄 -Album-
Clockwork Lullaby album booklet content
Intro
.
From: TALOS
Date sent: Year 1001, August 10th,03:00
To: Kiril Clockworker
Subject: A final email
.
Hey, we haven't written in a while, huh?
Are you doing well?
.
The Third Period is all finished.
The world has been saved.
Though perhaps it wasn't in the form of the salvation you had hoped for.
.
You didn't complete all twelve music boxes in time, it seems…
But ah well, you needn't fret over that.
You've completed your goal for the time being, after all.
.
The spirits have already begun to migrate to the new world.
Though I hear there are still some remaining in the Third Period as they are yet.
If you have anyone you want to go see, I recommend you take care of that in good season.
.
The gate is open.
You should decide for yourself what you want to do after this.
You can stay in Angolmois as is, or you can deepen your friendship with your old cronies in the Third Period's ruins.
Or…I won't stop you from traveling to the Fourth Period.
I no longer have the right to.
.
You are free.
Though it's possible we will never meet again…Well, as there's no more need for you to keep making music boxes, you may do whatever you wish after this.
Be merry with your wife, hm?
.
Well then, farewell.
I wish you two the best wherever you go.
.
Songs
.
Clockwork Lullaby 01/Clockwork Lullaby -Key Of Word-
.
Origin
<Turns clockwise>
.
The first music box has commenced operation without a hitch.
After turning the windup key it plays a somewhat stiff tune
And at the same time fulfills the purpose of turning a gear of karma
To me the tune it plays is something I don't quite understand,
However I am sure that this is to be the start.
.
Alice's prophecy.
I must ascertain the truth of that.
.
For that is the mission for my atonement that was assigned to me.
.
Clockwork Lullaby 02/Girl of the Miniature Garden
.
Little sister
<Turns counter-clockwise--connected by 01>
.
I don't have much information.
I needed to start from what was within the scope of my reach.
.
The song of a doll in the distant future.
Making the music box for that was simple.
.
My reasons are clear.
It was because to me,
She was none other than the being closest to me.
.
Irina…
Like me,
You too ended up becoming a castaway of time.
.
The blue spoon…
From this song I was able to faintly sense Adam.
That could perhaps become one of the clues I have to go on.
.
Clockwork Lullaby 03/Re_birthday
.
Black box
<Turns counter-clockwise--connected by 01>
.
What has become essential to completion of the music box
Was contact with a god.
And I ended up succeeding in that much sooner than I expected.
.
TALOS…It seems that he had regarded me as dangerous because of the Leviantan Catastrophe.
But I was able to prepare several counter-measures to outwit that bat.
Because thanks to that catastrophe--
I was able to recover the memories of the "original".
.
In the end, TALOS gave up on trying to control me,
And instead offered his assistance.
.
With that I was able to incorporate a black box system into the music box.
.
And then…as for this song's contents.
I shall keep it a secret yet from TALOS.
.
Because, at any rate,
This boy hasn't even been born yet.
.
Clockwork Lullaby 04/ Heartbeat Clocktower
.
Gear
<Turns clockwise--connected by 02>
.
What sort of person is Adam?
I decided to investigate into the man who was said to be the son of Alice.
.
At the end of it, I knew that Adam was by Irina's side,
But at the same time that brought up a new question.
.
As far as I know, the two of them barely even knew each other.
So then why
Is Adam trying to help Irina?
.
…Right now,
I don't even have the parts to formulate a hypothesis yet.
.
I shall aim for the land of Angolmois.
Though it is a place where even knowing of its existence
Is beyond the paygrade of a normal person…
.
But if you're me, on the other hand.
.
Clockwork Lullaby 05 Chrono Story
.
Dragon
<Turns counter-clockwise--connected by 01>
.
For now, I decided to continue on in my work
From a different angle.
.
And then,
I finally discovered the appearance of the person I love most.
.
A witch conversing with the god of the forest.
That face, her hair, her arms and legs…
It was none other than Elluka.
That was unmistakable.
.
--I quietly shed tears alone.
.
She had undoubtedly died.
And she would never be resurrected.
.
…It was something else.
.
I desperately repressed
An overflowing wrath.
.
Because if I was taken over by it,
I would never finish the twelve music boxes.
.
Clockwork Lullaby 06/Capriccio Farce
.
Unusual Event
<Turns clockwise--connected by 04 through the Alice BB>
.
How many years have passed
Since that catastrophe?
I'd stopped keeping track of time
Long, long ago.
.
Upon arriving in the land of Angolmois,
I was able to proceed with the compactification of
The BB system, which was a long-pending problem, at once.
.
At the same time I was able to supply myself components to make a new music box.
.
…However, this one was error-prone.
.
Due to the insertion of the Alice BB,
The sixth music box has started to play a different tone
Than I had initially expected.
.
--At present there are no particular flaws that stand out in it.
.
But there's no guarantee anywhere
That this song is the truth.
.
Clockwork Lullaby 07/Seven Crimes and Punishments
.
Deadly Sin
<Turns clockwise--connected by 05>
.
I have finally become able to follow history in its sequential order.
.
The beings called demons
And the disorders of the world that the people they contracted with caused.
The answer to Alice's prophecy is surely at the end of all that--
.
I've had it verified that my theory is correct.
.
It's become clear that it will destroy the world
As I thought.
.
In other words…
That means the main cause of all this
Is me.
.
Because after all
I am the one who caused it
To descend to the Third Period
.
Clockwork Lullaby 08/The Song I Heard Somewhere
.
Red cat
<Turns clockwise--connected by 02>
.
I have found the one who will destroy everything.
Next I must find the one who will save it.
.
There are several candidates…
But the most prominent would of course be Irina.
I know well the power that she hides.
.
Maybe I could be able to communicate somehow
With the "original" who saved Irina from the brink of death.
.
…Someone is knocking on the door of my house.
.
But, there shouldn't be anyone outside of me who can reach Angolmois.
.
--Who the hell is that?
.
While holding my gun in hand,
I slowly opened the door--
.
Clockwork Lullaby 09/Swear an Oath on that Bridge
.
Salvation
<Turns clockwise--connected by 05>
.
…Ah, god.
This may be the first time that I have been grateful to TALOS from the heart.
Now I have become able to listen to the ninth song with a tranquil heart.
.
And--
While this may be a crazy thought--
I have come to think this way.
.
That while "it" is undoubtedly the destroyer…
If she were able to regain her heart as a "person"
.
Might she at the same time
Have been able to be a savior?
.
When I asked the opinion of she standing by my side, she gave me a small smile,
And nodded.
.
Clockwork Lullaby 10/Banica Concerto!!
.
Gluttony
<Turns counter-clockwise--connected by both 06 and 07>
<Connects further to the big gear through the Seth BB>
.
Finally I succeeded in getting one of the large gears to rotate.
But…frankly…
I'm a little stunned.
To think, that evil food eater would become a savior.
What sort of face will TALOS make when he learns that?
I'd like to see.
.
Naturally this is also thanks to the BB that my wife had been looking after from the "original"--
But it seems the BB's usage invites an unexpected state of affairs after all.
.
The rotation of the large gear
Ended up going opposite to what I'd assumed it would.
.
With this, it can't be called true salvation.
The new world will just end up becoming
A different take on the Third Period.
.
Clockwork Lullaby 11/The Karma of Evil Will Not End
.
Samsara
<Turns counter-clockwise--connects by 08>
<And to the big gear>
.
Adam had a realization.
On the truth that Irina was his mother.
Thanks to the "Re_Birthday" time wound back.
And so Irina will once more become Adam's…
And Eve's mother.
.
I can only hope.
That Irina will sever the karma of evil,
And bring about true salvation.
.
--Ah…
This isn't sufficient.
The gear's power is not enough.
With this the karma of evil will not end.
It'll just repeat the same things again.
.
And now, in that world…
There are no gods.
.
Everything will probably be reduced
To a farce.
.
Clockwork Lullaby 12/Song of the Third Period
.
Graduation
<Turns counter-clockwise--connects by 09 and 03 through the Sickle BB>
<And to the big gear>
.
The singing voices of the Third Period have even reached the land of Angolmois.
This unfinished twelfth music box has begun to move and turn the large gear on its own.
Right now I'm reclining in a chair in an exhausted state.
…There had never been any need to make such things as this.
Even without the music boxes people are able to play the songs.
That is what this means.
.
These people singing…"VOCALOID", huh?
Ah well.
As a musical accompaniment,
It may serve as some aid to them.
For that purpose,
I shall set about making the final music box.
.
Final…
Is that truly so?
I took out my pocket watch
And looked upon its surface.
.
…!
.
I see…So that's it!!
.
Outro

TALOS.
You are a liar.
.
Certainly, on the face of a clock there are only 12 numbers written.
But in time…
.
The total number of songs is not 12.
Is that not so?
.
I've decided to head out from Angolmois.
With my wife, of course.
 .
As for where I'm heading…I'll leave it to your imagination.
Perhaps I'll see you again once more there.
.
I don't have an exact goal in mind.
But…as long as songs exist there--
.
I will continue to make music boxes.
.
Well then, until we meet again.

The Best Albums of 2020
What can I say about 2020 that hasn't already been said a hundred times before?  Yes, I have learned many things throughout the last 365 days, but one thing that I have always known, but have now emphatically proven this year is that - "Music (really) IS Life".
When the world outside is as dark as it has ever been, I know that I can always put on my headphones to escape from the sheer madness of it all for a little while, and feel completely comfortable and peaceful within the walls of my own mind.
Though your experience has been undeniably different, these are my life defining albums from the year that was 2020.  I hope that you are inclined enough to share YOUR favorites and your reasons for being so.
Happy New Year, my MUSIC friends.
31 - Lil Wayne  - Funeral
This was the first album that I had added to the "Best of" list back in very early January. Back before the everlovin' shit hit the fan in the world!   I loved the first half of the album so much that it was constantly on repeat, though it certainly isn't Wayne's best album.   The insanely fun and erratic tracks "Mahogany" and "Mama Mia" may very well be some of my all time favorite beats of the last decade.  Especially in a time where the greater majority of modern rap production sounds exactly the same, with little focus on the beats.  As the year continued on and I listened to hundreds of albums, Funeral didn't hold up quite as much as I would have thought.   With 24 tracks and a runtime of an hour and sixteen minutes, the album is one that goes on well after the juice has run out.  The first half is compiled so well though, that I still consider it one of the best, and I’d already written the review before I counted my “Best Of”. Hence the extra album review this year!  ;)
30 - Lapsley - Through Water
This album was recommended to me from my boss when we were all first working from home in the height of the pandemic.  Immediately I knew it would have a home on one of my most favorite playlists that I have been building for the last decade.  The playlist is called my "H20 Mixologist" mix and if you've ever been with me at the beach, you already know that the only rules for this playlist are that it must be played by water.  Preferably a beautiful ocean, though a bathtub and a healthy dose of imagination will work just fine!  This album came out right around the time when we weren't afraid to stay inside quite as much and we were no longer opposed to going to our neighborhood pool as a break from our own four walls.  This album will forever remind me of the truest and most pure joys of sunshine, fresh air, and the freedom one feels when outside surrounded by nature.
29 - Tame Impala - The Slow Rush
I have always loved me some Tame Impala, and this is certainly not Kevin Parker's best album to date... but even the most average material, is still some of the strongest of the year overall.   Still bringing the same consistent level of dreamlike alternative pop melodies that Tame Impala has been known for in the last decade, it is an album to easily get lost in... and that was beyond helpful this year.
28 - Car Seat Headrest - Making A Door Less Open
I have been an excited fan of Car Seat Headrest since I first head "Teens of Style" back in 2015 after I had just moved to Florida.  As the years have gone on and more albums have been released, I love the band even more.  I've been saying for years that Will Toledo is the ‘Beck’ that I have always wanted the real Beck to be, but has never fully become. The single "Can't Cool Me Down" is singlehandedly one of the best tracks of the year, by far!  Led by the most basic bass riff that fully drives the song forward, its those little odd and eccentric instruments used for accent that really hit when you are listening through a really good pair of headphones!  In a year where the outros on songs have been more prevalent in any years that I've ever noticed before, this was the first mind bending outro to fully grab my attention. An absolute must listen and a significant album to add to the bands catalog!
27 - Fontaines DC - A Hero’s Death
This is the first of the albums on my list that had been suggested to me through one of my Twitter music friends, and there have been quite a few of these suggestions this year, which makes me incredibly happy - as that was the whole idea of the account!  There was a genuine buzz around the sophomore album from this Dublin band that I had started to notice online, and I was excited to see what all the fuss was all about.  Immediately I was drawn into the sullen voice of Grian Chatten after watching the video for “Televised Mind”.  “A Hero’s Death stands out significantly for me after listening to their first album, but I love the significant growth that happened in the year in between. This is a band that I am very curious to see how they continue to grow in future years.
26 - Mac Miller - Circles
I was one of those people who discovered Mac Miller too late. Young Frankie got me into him, as he always had Mac playing throughout our house. One day, I simply decided to start at the very beginning of his discography.  I fell in love with his energy, his humor, & his blunt honesty about his battles with depression and addiction.  Listening to "Blue Slide Park" for the first time made me feel like I was in college again. It would have been my favorite album had it come out at that time in my life.  For some, it did & I envy you all for that.  With all my love for him, listening to Mac can be painful when you sit and listen in chronological order   You can hear actually him deteriorate over the years, much like Jim Morrison with The Doors albums in chronological order.  As honest and sincere as this final record is,  it is incredibly sad to listen to Mac on "Circles" when you know there will never be a follow up.  Sadly the album does serve as a beautiful bookend to a tragically short story.
25 - The Strokes - The New Abnormal
I've been a huge fan of Julien Casablancas and everything he has done for years, especially his most recent work with The Voidz.  However, the thought of a new Stokes album brought about some nostalgia for younger years when they were at their peak.  From the first listen, everything about this  album sounds as catchy and familiar, just what we have always come to expect from The Stokes, but at the same time, new. You hear one lick from Hammond Jr's guitar and you know exactly who you are listening to.  Even with seven years off, they are still capable of producing some serious quality work and it makes for some of their best.
24 - Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons - We're the Bastards
This album was one of my accidental finds on Apple Music one day early in December when I thought all odds of discovering any new music before the end of the year was impossible.  Considering Campbell is the lead guitarist of Motorhead, I was expecting something a little different, perhaps a little harder? What I found was a solid family band rock album!  I love the idea that Phil has created a band with his three sons, on all instrumental duties.  The lead front man of Attack! Attack, Neil Starr, lends his vocals, and sounds a lot like a cross breed of Corey Taylor and Jacoby Shaddix that I actually find quite endearing, considering I am a fan of both of their bands respectively.  At a time where rock music seems to be something that you have to dig deep for, this was a fresh album to get very excited about.
23 - Run The Jewels - RTJ4
Run The Jewels has been one of my favorite hip hip groups in recent years, as they have always created what I call "smart rap".  Smart rap has something to say ...it makes you listen,  but more so - it makes you THINK.  RTJ4 came out at EXACTLY when the world needed the album and words as an anthem.   Much more than just music, the lyrics in "Walking in the Snow" seemed prophetic at the time in the death of George Lloyd.  Looking back on it, the lyrics weren't prophetic at all.  Tragedies like George Floyd just happen FAR TO FUCKING OFTEN.  If you haven't listened to this album in its entirety, you need to... and you need to make sure you listen to every single syllable of every single word.
22 - PVRIS - Use Me
Later on this list, you will hear me talk about the rash of female fronted bands that came out in the last few years that were never able to fully separate themselves from each other in my eyes.  PVRIS is one of the female fronted bands that I have always had an affinity for.  With that being said, this album was a complete change up of sounds than albums prior.  Much more dance-y and poppy than anything from their past, though it does work  well.   You will later see another band on this list who were able to steal the higher place, just for being more authentic and true to themselves.  Stay tuned!
21 - Johan Johannsson - Last and First Men
I definitely experienced many moods during  quarantine and this album set off a rabbit hole in which I thoroughly enjoyed traveling through, as well as looking forward to continuing down.  I highly suggest everyone starts looking into Icelandic composers, especially Johann Johannsson.  His tragic story is just that, but his beautifully haunting music is still very much alive. Not only is "Last and First Men" an audiophiles dream from start to finish, learning that Johannsson scored one of my favorite movies of all times "Arrival", made complete and perfect sense.  Total mood music, and sometimes that mood just happens to be fucking apocalyptic.  Especially this year.
20 - Pearl Jam - Gigaton
I'll just put this out there, Pearl Jam lost me as a fan for a great many years.  If I am being candid, and I always am - they lost me after Vs.  When the single "Dance of the Clairvoyant's" was released, I was blown away that somehow they were still putting out great music and I had to go back through the entire catalog to see what I had really been missing since Vitology, when I had officially  decided that I didn't like the softer route the band was taking.  Man, have I been wrong for far too long and am happy to admit it.  What an actual EPIC band! No real bullshit in their history, just a bunch of really good dudes making solid music for 30 years.  If you are like me at all, this is the album that you need to check out immediately.  Pearl Jam are back, even though they never really left!
19 - Yves Tumor  - Heaven To A Tortured Mind
This has to be one of the coolest, most trippy and adventurous albums of the year in my opinion.  This is yet another one, that came out at height of COVID and I loved it instantly the dark & twisted imagery that it can conjure up, while still being soulful and new.   "Gospel For A New Century" was the song and video that really gave this album some definitive visuals to work with, as Tumor wears some seriously creepy horns, reminding me of the devil in the Tom Cruise movie "Legend" from back in the 80's.  An absolutely intriguing album and one to revisit many times over, as there is nothing else like it being made today. 1
18 - Agoria - Lucky: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
I can't even remember how I found this little treat, but I did! I've tried to find the movie that its attached to many times, and have been quite unsuccessful so far.  With that being said, this is an insanely fun little electronic soundtrack. "Visit", "Satan", "All Over You", and "Police" are standout tracks from an album that brings electronic tribal percussion to your ears that is capable of making you dance in your seat.  After listening to this album repeatedly throughout the year, it makes me want to hire Agoria to score all of the most adventurous scenes of my life!
17 - Eminem - Music To Be Murdered By
Two surprise albums by Eminem in 2020, and that isn't always a good thing.  It doesn't matter who is reviewing anymore, everyone seems to hate Eminem now a days.  Not sure why, as he IS the lyrical genius he has always been... even if you still aren't in on the joke. Sure, he is just as offensive as always, but everyone has that friend that gets booed and yelled at for being the one to make a joke "too soon".  After listening to Eminem for the last 22 years  and being from metro Detroit, he has always been that friend to me,  even though he will never know it! The two surprise albums this year were significantly better than anything since MMLP2, and the lack of beats and production from Kamikaze and Revival are all but forgotten here .  We finally had some new slick beats, the kind that work very well with Em's style.  Deny it all you want, Marshall Mathers is still relevant today.
16 - Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon 3
I knew that new music was coming from Cudi, but thought it was expected to be in the new year. However, I woke up on release day  in late December with a text message from Apple Music saying that it was here.  What?! I have always loved some Cudi, but this has been the year where he has played more of a soundtrack than ever before & had already made it into my all time favorites.  At first listen to MOTM3, I realized that it was going to need a few listens to really soak it all up, so I kept at it all day.  I read many critic and personal reviews and everyone seemed to be loving it,  but why wasn't I?  I kept at it, for days and days... and it worked.  I will say there is certainly more modern trap music than I like from my Cudi, but if he has to integrate it in his music, he does it well enough.  "Tequila Shots" is the stand out that has had the most airplay in our house, as it is the most quintessential Cudi sounding on the whole album.   The autobiographical "Elsie's Baby Boy" is another track that we've had on constant rotation.  All it takes is a Cudi hum, and I am sold.
15 - HAIM - Women In Music Pt. III
As I slightly eluded to back in my PVRIS review, I have never been a huge fan of all female bands,  mainly as most came out at a time where there was a rash flooding of all female bands.  Obviously, I have nothing against this, as long as they all don't sound the same! HAIM hadn't caught me until this album, but wow.  The harmonies on "Darling" , Up From A Dream",  "Don't Wanna", and "Leaning On You" are so flawless that this band finally got the recognition from me that they deserve.  This album sets the band apart from the rest of the pack, as well as themselves!  Leaps above PVRIS, CVRCHES, Soccer Mommy, and the rest - this is the best female band fronted album for me in years.
14 - Bassnectar  - The Lockdown Mixtapes Pt: 1 - Inside For The People
The better part of 2020 quarantine was spent in extreme close proximity with family while trying to hold down different non-negotiable responsibilities.   On my part, this usually included Air Pods in my ears any time I had to "be on" and work from home. Early on, it was impossible not to feel a little trapped and frankly pretty fucking sad. This album came out at precisely the right time of quarantine to bring you out of the funk, even if only temporary!  Listening to this for the first time, and hearing Biggie's voice come to life behind the beats was a smack in the face of 90's nostalgia that is was comforting... and something that I didn't even know I needed at the time.  The  use of the "American Beauty" dialogue in the outro was also oh so nice, and perfectly placed at the end. It  was unfortunate that the second Lockdown Mixtape came nowhere close to this first installment.  This is a must though, and it will always be an integral album to pull out whenever I am feeling a little claustrophobic.
13 - Gorillaz - Song Machine, Season I: Strange Timez
One of my all time favorite bands for the last twenty years, even though they have missed the mark in the past.  This album brings back a lot of the sounds and creativity sparks that have been missing the last few albums. The moment you hear Robert Smith's voice start torture crooning about Strange Timez,  with a Damon Albarn echo, you know you're going to be in for a fun trip.  The Schoolboy Q featured "Pac Man" is without a doubt the most authentic Gorillaz song recorded in years.  This has also been the most cohesive complete album they have produced since Plastic Beach.  Paying attention to the recipe that made them one of the best, is a good way to move forward.  More of the same please, Damon.
12 - Creeper - Sex , Death, & the Infinite Void
This album was recommended to me by a friend on Twitter & I was a little shocked on how much it reminded me of  some of the pop, punk, emo , alt rock bands that came out of the 2000's.  More specifically, My Chemical Romance, and I mean that in the best way.  I have often found myself loving some sort of incredible theatrics with my music and this album truly has more black eyeliner than I do.  Categorized as English Horror Punk, this sophomore effort by Creeper has rock opera written all over it.  The intro had me a little skeptical on first listen, but once you settle in with "Be My End" you start to have a feel of where you are going and it isn't as scary as a first impulse indicate!
11 - Smith & Myers - Volume 1 & 2
One of my absolute favorite discoveries of 2020!  I have always been a fan of Shinedown & have some incredible memories of seeing them live at Rock on the Range years ago - so I was incredibly happy to discover this stripped down side project that only features vocalist Brent Smith and lead guitar Zach Myers performing acoustic covers.  Songs like "Unchained Melody" are done so perfectly, the sound like they were initially written for Smith's voice, which is a national treasure in itself! My absolute favorite cover off both volumes is "Valerie", most famously covered by Amy Winehouse, though originally written and performed by The Zutons.  i dare you to sing along to this cover and NOT smile.  The rest?  See for yourself. 1
10 - Marcus King - El Dorado
Early in the year, I saw a few friends had been listening to this album on Apple Music.  I had to check it out and immediately loved how different it was for a new country rock and blues album.  I was not shocked to discover that Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys played an integral part of its creation.  If you haven't discovered King yet, you should head right over to YouTube and check out any of his live performances.  This is the kind of dude you HAVE to see live, when this world ever gets back to being able to see live shows.  "El Dorado" did for me this year, what Sturgill Simpsons' "Sound of Fury" for me last year.  Another act that I cannot wait to see what comes next.
9 - BAMBARA - Stray
To me, this is Mullholland Drive music. I picture California, up in the LA Hills, very late at night, cruising around, up to no good in some sleek, sharp convertible old school car. The big brass gives the music edge and age and its fucking glorious. This it the band that I would love to see do some sleazy and metaphor fueled track with Lana del Rey at some point in the future. Oh, what a combo that could be.  BAMBARA also brings to mind a Stooges/Iggy Pop meets Jim Morrison head on, kind of vibe and I love it a lot.  Check out their KEXP performance on YouTube, as it is absolute gold. Even though they refer to themselves as post punk, I'd like to refer to it as underground filth glamour... and its never been more beautiful.
8 - Freddie Gibbs & Alchemist - Alfredo
Freddie Gibbs is one of the most exciting artists in modern hip hop, mainly because everything he puts out has that classic hip hop vibe that I have been missing.  Last year Gibbs made this list with his collaboration with Madlib, "Bandana". Whereas Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Kid Cudi have released some great albums this year, "Alfredo" is another cohesive piece of work that you just don't find often.  When the track placement doesn't matter, as they are a seamless piece, meant to be listened to from beginning to end, every time.  This album does for hip hop what Tyler The Creators, Igor,  did last year.  Its only appropriate there is a Tyler cameo.  Once again, bringing soul to the forefront of hip-hop, and I am totally here for it.
7 - Chris Stapleton - Starting Over
This is the kind of modern country that I like. Bar rock country music!  Even though Stapleton hails from Kentucky and its true country,  something about his voice and this album makes me nostalgic for my childhood and those great Michigan summers growing up.  In a time of 'pretty boy' country, Stapleton gets to the grit of it.  This album conjures up the want for whiskey shots and dirty dancing.  There aren't many like it, but this is a greatest hits album from start to finish.
6 - Benny Yurco - You Are My Dreams
Benny has always been the absolute best discovery of Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, as he THRIVES on his own.  As well as I feel I know him as a solo artist, I can't find jack shit on him on his own.  Everything you find is all Grace Potter.  The little things that I DO know are, is that I am well aware that he is musical instrument collector and finds ways to integrate it into all his music. One thing I love about Benny is his absolute classic and beachy sounds. Even though he hails from Vermont, its like he was made to be on the beach at all times playing his music.   All three of his solo albums are so clearly connected, but so different. He always picks up right where the last one ended. It should be noted that anytime Benny comes out with a new album, he ends up on this list.  So if you have read about him here and have still never checked him out, you are missing out.
5 - Me & That Man - New Man, New Songs, Same Shit, Vol 1
One of the most "mood" albums of the year for me!  In the initial weeks of quarantine, I was in a mood where all I wanted to hear was outlaw western rock.  I couldn't really put a finger on any specific bands that I considered completely outlaw rock, but I had been listening to Volbeat's "Outlaw Gentleman & Shady Ladies" and the score for Red Dead Redemption for far too long, when I found Me & That Man.  Imagine my shock when I discovered the man behind the whole project was Nergal, the man who is also behind the band Behemoth, the black death metal band that I have simply never been able to get into!  What a turn from the norm for Nergal and I couldn't have been more excited about the album.  Another album that will always remind me of the worst of the worst of the year, but always knowing that music would carry it all and would always make things better.
4 - All Them Witches - Nothing as the Ideal
I have a been a fan of All Them Witches since I first discovered them on Spotify years ago.  This is one of those albums that is so fucking perfect from beginning to end that you don't even realized that you have spent 45 minutes having a consistent eargasm. Exactly what a progressive rock band should sound like in 2020, as they draw from all past music and inspire the next round of craftsmanship.  This is one that I can't speak/type on too much, as it has to be experience on ones own... at full blast.
3 - Molchat Doma - Monument
One of the best, purest retro albums that has been inspired by 80's in the best fucking way possible. How can you take something that has been done over and over throughout the years and make it sound not at all forced or contrived?   This is how.  I would call them new wave, but I've been since directed to the appropriate terminology, which is cold wave.  Hailing from Belarus, the Slavic language is such a perfect mesh for the sounds that they have created. The rest of the world was ahead of me with Molchat Doma, since one of their older songs hit TikTok and made them quite well known with a younger generation.  This album makes me daydream that I am dancing at one of their lives shows, in some dark eastern European club, where I would probably never feel comfortable, in anything outside of my imagination... but I it that though.  That is the kind of music that I live for.
2 - Deftones - Ohms
It has been an entire decade since I have fully paid any significant attention to the Deftones, and for me, this has been their best album since White Pony twenty years ago.  The excitement that came with the release of the first two singles was enough to generate a massive buzz within me.  I made sure to listen to the entire catalog before release day, just to fully prepare... and when the new album finally arrive, it did not disappoint.   The last three albums have been the more subtle side of Chino Moreno, which is just fine when working with his side project +++.  He actually has one of my all time favorite sexy voices, when he isn't in the full tilt of a wail.  When he has the whole band behind him, he fully thrives and can still hit the screams that defined his voice decades ago.  This is an album that has made me feel all of the ROCK again and it will be in my rotation for many years to come. As the NYE ball drops this evening, I will be playing Ohms, as that is the best outro of any album to date... and certainly the way to close out the year.
1 - Other Lives - For Their Love
My favorite of the year comes from a band that I had never heard of, despite their three albums that have been released prior! Even though I initially loved this album on first listen,  I will candidly admit that I forgot about it for a few months.  Somehow I found my way back, and For Their Love was on constant rotation for weeks at a time.  There is something about Jesse Tabish's voice that continues to haunt me well after the last note.  Other Lives has a sound that reminds me of something old, that has somehow become new and fresh all over again. It is haunting, it is beautiful, and it resonates the soul like a tuning fork.  The most beautiful souvenir of an awfully bleak and tragic year.  If you check out ONE of my suggestions this year, let it be this...

bangtan: LOVE YOURSELF 承
bangtan dominated this comeback. you can tell the devotion and time that went into each lyric and beat. i am so proud of bangtan. not just because they were #1 on itunes, or because they were trending on youtube, or even breaking into the top 20 most watched videos in 24 hours. i am proud of bangtan for how they bring so many people together to celebrate one message, love yourself and be who you are. this comeback celebrates people especially army. i am thankful to stan such a group.
here are a few things i loved about the DNA mv (side note: woke up at 4:50 am so that i would be able to experience it’s release with the rest of the world. this was my second comeback with bangtan that i actively participated in):
the colorful concept and visuals: (what is a bias?)
Tumblr media
jin's lines: let's appreciate his lines and screen time.
Tumblr media
namjoonie's dance: it kills me EVERY TIME.
Tumblr media
this choreo: thank you hobi for being the king of dance.
Tumblr media
here are a few things i loved about the album in its entirety:  vocals attack it's just a given at this point. intro: i've already said how i love jimin's intro. i appreciate that they had this chill and mellow song open up the album full of killer beats.
Tumblr media
DNA: a complete and utter BOP. they killed this choreo in all the live shows they did as well. i love the fanchant! (i probably just love screaming their names in the car while i listen.)
Tumblr media
best of me: i love the beat of this one! how the beat grows and falls back. it accentuates the vocals. (bangtan: “so please just don’t leave me”. army: “we won't ever leave you bangtan”)
dimples: this may be one of my favs. tae's vocals attacked me right off the bat and i was still recovering from best of me. "ille-girl" the pun of the century. those runs at the end though. got me like.
Tumblr media
pied piper: the lyrics of this song make it hilarious. they be calling us out. love the mix of vocals and rap line.
skit: i love that they added this. a nice little nod to all that army and bangtan are able to accomplish together.
Tumblr media
MIC DROP: deserves a mic drop. the lyrics were so clever. literally died with “너의 각막 깜짝 놀라지” - "your corneas are shocked" yes yes they are. their visuals always on point. this song also had perfect line distribution. like PERFECT!
Tumblr media
go go: this dance is a complete meme. i freaking love it. tae raps. they gave him rap lines. he raps in this. i died. #proudmom
Tumblr media Tumblr media
outro: i can't believe that it is the end of the album already. i love the rap line and they completely own this chill beat with killer lines. (side note: then when you have the album on repeat, and jimin’s vocals kill you for the hundredth time)
10 out of 10 would recommend. keep streaming army!

Meet the Tutorial Maker: Curtis Holt
Who I am
Hello everybody! My identify is Curtis and I’m a mixed-media content material creator from London, England. I spend most of my time operating a YouTube channel the place I create a mixture of content material together with tutorials, add-ons and inventive shorts. I’m recognized for distributing giant amounts of free content alongside my movies, starting from simple 3D belongings to finish add-ons.
How I received Began with Blender
The first time I opened Blender was roughly again in 2006-2007 (versions 2.4x). Again then, the user-interface was nothing in need of alien know-how to me. I had no concept how you can navigate the options, not to mention use the software to make anything aside from a cube. Most days I might open the software, mess around with the buttons after which shut it again with out making anything. Typically I might go months with out touching it, however curiosity all the time introduced me back. Again then, studying how you can use software program with the help of the internet was far more troublesome. Google had acquired YouTube, but the platform hadn’t actually ‘taken off’ yet and there was a restricted number of learning assets out there.
As the years went on, I turned extra curious about constructing 3D worlds inside the context of recreation improvement. Educators making higher-quality video content turned extra widespread and I started to take a position extra time into learning Blender.
How I Learnt to Make Issues
Blender was not truly my first foray into the world of 3D. Back in 2004 once I was about eight years previous, my dad had managed to get hold of ‘3ds Max 7’, and I spent many hours after faculty making random shapes and buildings. I feel my proudest mannequin at that time was a spaceship made utterly out of cubes and cylinders that had been reworked until they vaguely resembled one thing sci-fi. Sadly that mannequin not exists.
I might love to be able to show my younger self my newer attempts of modeling a spaceship:
Throughout most of my time at secondary (excessive) faculty, I used to be more all in favour of programming than paintings. I spent my free time learning methods to make web sites with associates, after which moved on to making text-based journey video games with C++.
Over time I turned more involved in 3D recreation improvement and began experimenting with all types of recreation engines. That’s once I tried out the Unity3D engine, which I in a short time turned hooked up to. It’s a simple engine to put in writing scripts for using C#, which is such a strong language. So much of the software program is uncovered for modification / extension and that has all the time excited me. It’s one in every of the reasons I really like Blender a lot—I can break it aside and construct new options to go well with my ideas.
Understanding easy methods to write games was one factor, however I needed to convey my inventive expertise up to scratch to let me deliver my imagination to life. Blender was free and I enjoyed its flexibility, so I went all-out with studying easy methods to use it.
Zacharias Reinhardt, Andrew Worth, Gleb Alexandrov and Aidy Burrows all produced high-quality content (free and paid) that was extraordinarily useful to my studying throughout this time.
How I Began Making Tutorials
I really like YouTube and was all the time inquisitive about operating a channel however a lack of confidence prevented me from putting my work on the market at an earlier time.
There are key people who ought to be thanked for the existence of the channel—associates, household and different nice artists, content material creators and members of the Blender group.
I want to offer a huge because of Bart Veldhuizen who was the first individual to ever write an article about my work. It made me realise that there are actually individuals on the market who will probably be eager about what I could make.
In addition to that is Nicholas, a remarkably gifted writer and supportive good friend, who managed to keep my creativity flowing by continually challenging me with random tasks and concepts.
The first tutorial I made for the channel was about modular setting design with a give attention to constructing science-fiction corridors. I selected this as a topic as a result of I had been asked for recommendation on the subject a number of occasions by a set of associates, and making a video that they might refer again to seemed like a useful concept.
After the video received accepted for BlenderNation, I acquired a flood of viewership and supportive comments. Half 1 shortly surpassed one thousand views, which utterly blew my thoughts. So as to add to that, only three days after the collection was posted, Grant Abbitt featured it in his video: ‘Immerse Yourself in Creativity’. I used to be elated to see individuals enjoying the content material.
The channel has far exceeded my expectations up to now and it’s all because of a vibrant, fantastic and beneficiant group. I’m continuously stunned and motivated by individuals sharing their work using methods from my movies.
My Strategy to Educating
My strategy is to maintain it very deliberate and scripted. That is for a number of causes—individuals on the web usually have brief attention spans and I don’t need to waste their time. In addition to this, scripted dialogue is simpler to translate into other languages because it removes mumbling and pauses for thought. This can be a totally different strategy from another tutorial makers preferring to do stay recordings for tutorials.
There’s definitely no right or flawed strategy to do it. Doing stay and unscripted tutorials can convey far more character in case you can keep rapport with the viewer. All that basically matters is you could get the info across with out boring or annoying the viewer.
Once I’m conveying instructional info to members of my group (particularly on our Discord server), I all the time keep the perception that encouragement is important for learning. I additionally inform individuals to not comply with conventional ‘rules’ for artwork and design too intently. Respect and study from them to information your work, but in addition study to break them where you are feeling it’s applicable. Artwork is art, don’t let it’s restricted by conventions.
How Subjects are Chosen
Usually, I simply make what I really feel like making. For this reason I really like YouTube—I’m allowed to get up and select what to work on for that day. Artistic freedom is all the time thrilling for me. If I put out a video and don’t know what to make subsequent, then I have a growing 7-page document of ideas that I can refer back to.
This definitely doesn’t imply I’m closed off from new ideas. I actively search social media on the lookout for new and fascinating developments, and my group are fast to send me fascinating subjects that seem in the CG group. Anybody could make requests and if I find the topic fascinating and assume it’s substantial enough for a video, then I’ll deliver it to life.
How Tutorials are Made
If I know what I need to make, I’ll start by experimenting in Blender, retaining all the things in a separate folder right from the beginning. My goal will probably be to create fascinating assets that I can distribute alongside the upcoming video for individuals to mess around with.
Tumblr media
Demonstration file for ‘Smoke Simulation in EEVEE (Blender 2.8)’
As soon as the assets are created, I’ll begin writing a script detailing the process and method, often explaining the way to replicate or use the assets. Following that, I will report the vocal audio for the script with Adobe Audition.
The audio will then be put into an Adobe Premiere challenge where I’ve a pre-made template with my common intro and outro already set up.
Tumblr media
Premiere challenge file for ‘Displaying Characters in EEVEE (Blender 2.8)’
Now all that’s left is to get clips to match the scripted audio. I’ll put Premiere and OBS Studio on my left monitor and hold the entrance monitor clear for recording. Listening back to the audio, I comply with together with the script and perform the essential actions on the display. Once all of the clips have been put into the venture, I’ll proof-watch the complete video, make crucial modifications, render it to file and then upload it to YouTube, the place it can stay personal till all of the assets have been uploaded to Gumroad and other obtain websites.
Examples of Work
Method Focus
Add-on Demonstrations
Lighting and Type Design
Surroundings Design
Timelapses
Instruments I Use
Blender
Adobe Premiere, for video modifying.
Adobe Audition, for audio recording.
OBS Studio, for display recording.
Unity3D, for degree design, shorts and interactive tasks.
Visual Studio Code, for scripting (corresponding to with add-on improvement).
The Office
My workplace can get very messy since I’m understanding of a small room. What you possibly can see under is my desk in a tidy state. Each piece of word paper I write on is stored in a stack on my bookshelf since I never throw something away. It’s because I wish to archive unfastened ideas in-case they may be helpful to me in the future.
Tumblr media
Where the magic occurs.
Where I Find Inspiration
Artwork books, Pinterest, Twitter, films, video games, music and YouTube. I like to eat all types of inventive media, though I especially love video video games, films and music movies. This could be partially as a result of my father being a Particular Effects Supervisor—I’ve been fortunate sufficient to spend many days growing up on film units in several elements of the world. I’ve been raised in a family that celebrates artistic achievement and entrepreneurship. Due to this, I’ve all the time been inspired to study as many expertise as attainable, surrounding myself with as a lot information and inspiration as I can. I feel creatives ought to take the time to show their consolation zones into locations that provide them with emotional stimulation. Pinterest especially has really enlightened me to the sheer quantity of paintings out there online and I can extremely advocate it to individuals trying to build up a library of inspiration.
Thanks for taking the time to examine my work!
