ITS NUTS.#anyways i hope the dialouge in the stuff im making now sounds vaguely like anything red would say EVER bc i think hes the one#i struggle the most with#how would duck handle being gushy? i already know in my HEART can write that in my sleep#idk wtf is going on with red still not over him driving a car into a wall#hes so like. everyone thinks hes way more serious than the other two and he absolutely is not are you kidding.#hes JUST as looney tunes as the other two#its like. sometimes. after building and building. he'll decide to be serious.#one ep we need to get the fuck out of here we need to get the fuck out#NEXT EP AND IM ACTUALLY GLAD WHOEVER GAVE US THIS BORING NON ELECTRIC URN DIED!!#i cannot sort that boy out in my head he makes no sense to me#ANYWAYS I COULD TALK ALL DAY ABT THEM. This had been irking me so i have to say it. I know Hellsing is a horror media with a LOT of flashy action scene, however, it is unjust to see it as solely gore and fights. I've seen complaints about how adding a "romance" in will reduce the quality of the story as an "action horror". (specifically speaking is between Alucard and Integra because of course in the end of the day this is just ship war, not a serious discussion whatsoever) I would argue that Hellsing is never ONLY about the actions. Yall might have already noticed how Alucard is too OP, and it was not even because he got any tricks up his sleeves. He is simply invincible, his mechanism is just that hes a "deus ex machina". He did NAWT need to start out with zero and levelling up like your common action anime protagonist. It's not a first time a central character is overpowered in an unreasonable way. A way you could interpret this trope is that it was not about battles, not the physcial one, but the development in their characteristic, their thoughts and emotions and ideology all that stuffs. A classic example is Sir Gawain and The Green Knight (TGK), where all of their (physical) battles are nonsense and did not mean anything in terms of combat, they dont even fight each other, even the climax (the decapitation of TGK) was dismissed into a looney tunes moment. BECAUSE OF COURSE IT WAS NEVER ABOUT THE BATTLE NOR PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT, it was the internal struggle and maturing in character. THAT is what's happening in Hellsing IF yall look pass the very flashy facade of gore scenes Hirano put up. READ BETWEEN THE LINES, because he's not gonna hand it out to you on a plate. If you want to see how each character developed you have to look closely at their reactions and dialogues, not how they fight.
SO, imo, it's reducing the quality and message of Hellsing to interpret it solely as an action horror media, not the other way around. AND MIND YOU, romance subplot and action horror can coexist. For what does the character fight? A higher ideal? Power? Fun? Love? All that is noteworthy to think about when you engage in a media display many fight scenes. DONT YOU WANNA KNOW WHY THEY FIGHT THAT HARD ???? and in this case it is VERY obvious that Alucard is motivated by Integra. LIKE it cant be more obvious
And I'm so tired of seeing "Alucard only listen to Integra because of the seal and shes a Hellsing". Bestie, he literally ripped Richard's hand off, we dont even know the extent of the seal, like how far? or can it REALLY control Alucard? Besides, if you have read The Dawn you would see what a damn lazy ass Alucard was, Arthur sent him on a mission and he didn't even bother to walk on his own and just sleep safe and sound in his coffin until he felt like waking up??? Compare that to his enthusiasm to beg Integra on four just for her order and even purposefully tick her off by asking about her enthusiasm for war, oh and did we collectively forget this
Tumblr media
(This is the Dark Horse eng scan if i remember correctly? i might be mistaken idk)
Sure it could just be a mere parallel, "The woman he personally desired" might only means Mina Harker and not directly Integra herself, I see. But, why bother choosing this parallel, and RIGHT after this panel he went STRAIGHT to Integra to ask for her order.
Tumblr media
You know how enthusiastic he is with a fight and everything was already laid before him, worthy enemies and all. Yet he would not act without her words? I did not see him needing permission before ripping Richard's hand off... Also the seal did NAWT ask him to do all this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are more of his sickening and excessive display of obedience but i don't have time to pull the panels out yet, but we all know its there since Alucard's submissive attitude and Integra's bossy demeanour is one of their most appealing traits, I know, because it is literally one of the BIGGEST selling points and running joke of the fandom, funnyyyy how people always love to call Alucard a sub and use words such as "freaky" and "slutty" to call him as if he didn't reserved this treatment for ONLY Integra. Sure Integra is a demanding boss to even her enemies, and it works like wonder everytime, because she's Integra, she mastered Alucard, others are just piece of cake to her. But that's not the same case with Alucard. Major literally said "She is the only authority Alucard recognizes". And have Alucard extended the phrase "My master" and all the begging and insinuating jokes to anyone else? It's so convenient isnt it, to just take one specific trait of Alucard's personality and make it his entire character without considering to WHO he directed those innuendos to.
Oh and I haven't walk us to the final chapter yet, like the seal did NAWWWWWTTT asked him to call her "Countess" (or Count, depending on the translators) and literally he could accept his death becoming a paradox? Wasn't Alucard had been craving an end for a long while now? Why the need to return just because Integra asked him to??? Be serious for a moment here
Also a personal interpretation of mine that could be a stretch or just pure delulu is that, in the manga AND the anime adaptation, the last word Alucard said after goodbye is "Integra" (In both Japanese and English dub, the word order is exactly the same), not "Master" or "Integra HELLSING". The same goes when he addressed how he can kill without remorse but the decision is in her hand, he also said "I am a monster, now regarding you, Integra". To me that is an indicator for how he CARED for her not just because she's a Hellsing or his master but she's Integra, from the first of their meeting it was very clear, that Alucard wounded A HELLSING to protect Integra.
So... even non-romantically, you cannot deny that Alucard voluntarily worked for Integra. They DO care about each other a lot, even platonically, their bond is almost like soulmates with how well they trust and understand each other. I just don't like it when people keep side-stepping the depth of their relationship just because you don't like to ship them romantically. These are the canon informations you can't just seriously unironically say that there was nothing there.
And oh don't even get me started on the "But he is a vampire, the enemy of her family and he hates Hellsing because of Abraham something something stockholm syndrome something she's ace coded she's lesbian coded she swore to be a virgin until death she wouldnt throw it away for the enemy of her family etcera etcera" you're saying it as if ace people aren't allowed to date or have sex and you're saying it as if Alucard isn't canonically genderfluid. Why always view the ship as solely heteronormative while they were never conventional to begin with. And MIND YOU, i thought everyone love the enemies to lovers trope?? they were BARELY stockholm syndrome at all did we forget about the Bird of Hermes analogy as a metaphor for loyalty voluntarily given.
If you care so much about "monsters and humans are forbidden" and "they are not canon" maybe treat every ship with the same attitude since MOST of hellsing most popular ships fit into that exact two sentences above, maybe except Pip x Seras is canon, but they're also human x monster, so what now???? Just hate on a ship all you like, I hate ships too and I hate them because I don't like them, that's all, no need to do extra mental gymnastic to prove the ship is "wrong" or their shippers are "wrong".

the funniest part of all of those asks screaming bloody murder in your inbox is that none of them (or perhaps it’s just one person lmao) seem to WANT to realise that we’re all just playing in the sandbox that is canon, and sometimes haul sand from a different sandbox to add to it. additionally, their morality policing is gross ♥️
like?? sometimes i disagree with what you’re saying, but that’s a normal fandom experience. i have my own interpretations and preferences and that’s fine. that’s the way it’s supposed to be. blocking is so easy. scrolling past a post is so easy. idk what they’re complaining about.
(and of course i do think that harry’s naturally powerful, but he’s also very untrained. his power has not been fine-tuned. he’s coursing by on luck and through outside forces. it could’ve gone so horribly wrong at any point and that’s purely because harry could Not have fought his way out!!! he could’ve been trained to at least present a good challenge, but then we’re reaching AU territory—plus, he’s like 11-17 to voldemort’s 60+.)
anyway. you are a fellow prongsfooter and tomarrymorter and i shall defend you til my dying breath. bless.
the thing is, i literally AGREE WITH YOU. YES, harry is naturally powerful, he was the chosen one for a Reason, he was the only one who could produce patronuses so early on, like, he is powerful. yes, the reason he would lose is because he is not fully trained.
all i meant to say was that the fact that they are equals is never Truly portryed. harry could have GROWN to be as powerful as voldemort but we will never know because jkr's setup was just.. not it. the age disparity is one of the, if not THE biggest reason why it's laughable to me when people say they are equals. no matter how much older harry gets, harry would never truly catch up to voldemort because voldemort himself would get older, learn more, have more tricks etc. and yes, one day voldemort will be past his prime, and that is maybe the one time harry can beat voldemort in a fair duel.
do you see how bad the setup is now? PLUS, she NERFED voldemort and made him irrational, so now he's just stupid and harry being his equal is not the flex you might think it is. like, wow, you're an equal with the guy who got killed by a baby? lmao.
i have had so many stupid anon hate asks in my inbox today i am exhausted and astounded that people could ever be this obtuse.
but yeah, thank you so much for this ahhaha hope i clarified if anything was unclear.
i, too, shall defend you if the time comes XD ❤️❤️❤️❤️ thank youuuu 💕💕

Who is fanon Sixty for you? I have seen the range from glue eating dumbfuck to sadistic rapist
I've seen that range too, and it's wild how people can interpret and add to the base of Sixty as a character. Technically it's just a warped version of Connor, but like... Incredibly, so, so much worse (affectionate). I mean I will not(TM) write an essay about how he's not a 'character' as such but symbolism for Connor's self-reflection and
For me, fanon Sixty exists in all fanon forms equally, because that's how I like to interpret canon stuff too. (Multiple timelines = different ways you can interpret a specific behaviour or choice.) BUT I do have content preferences, and glue-eater is definitely one of them lmfaoooo
Either way, I don't actually like the versions of Sixty I've seen the fandom adopt (it's just personal preference), yet I don't have my OWN headcanons about the character since I haven't played enough rounds to hear all his evil monologues lol. (I like to discover things organically, so I stay away from YouTube.)
But fanon Sixty to me is just... Connor. If Sixty survives the bullet in the head and goes on to deviate and live life, then he's Connor up until he deviates, just like Connor in crossroads. He has the ability to adopt his own personality, and interests, and assign himself personal goals which could look very different from Connor. Connor (according to Bryan) would become a palaeontologist I think if he no longer worked at the DPD. For Sixty, using the same skills of reconstruction, licking stuff, and tracking where things had been, I think he would become an efficient game hunter and could be called to take down bears or other dangerous animals that bother farms. He wears a cap but his pickup truck blares show tunes. His hunting pals hate him, but he's the best. He's formal, logical, and doesn't mind doing the dirty work. Clean at home, filthy in the field, always in the long grass and shrubs. Imagine just... dungaree!Connor, basically. He lures animals out with replicating sounds. (We all know how he lures Hank out and about smh.) And as a deviant, he cares for animals enough to understand how the wilderness works. Plus, he can find a cliff to monologue upon well after the sun has set.
Sixty would visit Connor to give Hank free meat (he knows Hank loves meat) (and he has a dimmed affection for him due to Connor's memories) and they'd hang out and play video games together. Connor and Sixty exclusively play on Russian lobbies and are absolute bots at it as a duo.
To me, Sixty is dead either way. If he kills Connor, CyberLife replaces him, but of course, he can die in the tower. If they somehow got him out altogether with the android army, he's still as smart and calculating as Connor is. He's still willing to do anything for the mission, but whatever is strictly necessary for the mission. On the fanon scale of "glue eating dumbfuck to sadistic rapist" (so well put anon btw) I wouldn't know where to rate him because fanon Connor is hardly aligned on that scale. Connor's fanon scale is like, good boy - evil machine - submissive - dominant (LIKE A POLITICAL SPECTRUM LMAO???) and I rank fanon Sixty on the same wavelength as Connor, which in my headcanon, is also up to interpreTATION FROM THE MEDIA WHENCE IT CAME. IDK if I'm making sense anymore. Sixty exists in the void but he's still a hunter to me.
For the record, I really enjoy @poorlydrawnandroids' interpretation of Sixty. That one's my favourite. It lingers in the salty-idiot area on the scale.

8) common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about!!
OK Speedrun off the top of my head
Vegas is always a dom + top (spoiler: interpreting his actions of control as performative.... fun.)
Jeff's cover of Angel Baby was a mistake. Kim calling Chay "his angel" out LOUD??? in front of people that could leverage that against him??? OK live your truth i guess but like… WRONG <3
Chay is submissive (I know you bitches want je-Kim to fuck you but like... come on now. please be realistic.)
Tankhun. Just. In general. I cannot articulate how wrong about Tankhun poeple are all the time and forever and also how seethingly angry it makes me. If he only appears for a single "ridiculous/sassy" line I'm tuning the fuck out. Tong brought such a level of nuance and kindness to his performance that if you aren't writing a Tankhun that's funny and kind and yes traumatised but also using all his dramatics as a smokescreen for the fact that he's wickedly perceptive and forcing people to recieve kindness/love/help/hints then i'm BORED. I'm bored and youre boring............ everyone please read artistic merits by filigreesails for the love of fuck.
........."Daddy chan" needs to die. it was funny at the start but like. fuck me sideways:
Tumblr media
ChanGun. Idk actually this is one I love I just don't see it and I want to see more of it. Everyone was so caught up in the euphoria of ChanBig (the boring, non proxyfucking edition - because apparently unfounded "daddy kink" is more interesting than Big in his desperation fucking the next most powerful man to Kinn?! :/ ) that we literally fucking NEGLECTED the DILF4DILF divorce energy of ChanGun. I fucking need it.
Canonically having half the characters trained in restraint escape and yet so few fics include this as a sexy plotline.
People keep writing about characters with mad bundah 🍑 when we KNOW the casting directors were only looking at their tits. BE REAL.
I'm SURE there are more hehe

i’m gonna be real honest with you guys sometimes i see people form theories on here about shows/movies and little predictions and where the plot is going and a lot of times they’re right or half right and in my mind i’m thinking. wow you are so smart and i feel so fucking stupid.

the Everything Good On Supernatural Was Accidental mindset running amok two years ago truly gave this whole fandom permanent brainworms and the thing is that i feel like at least part of it comes from people just not understanding what kind of show they're watching, getting mad that it doesn't do what they want it to do and then blaming it on writers' incompetence. and i DO think the writing is mediocre-bad on spn a lot of times and i DO think there are a LOT of conflicts they set up and didn't resolve or resolved badly, but dismissing the writing on the show as a whole just ... idk isn't it boring? there are a LOT of things i appreciated more on rewatch than on first watch just cause i stopped relaying on fandom's bad faith biased interpretation of them and tried to tune in into what the writers were actually doing and, surprise surprise, everything was far more interesting and satisfying lmao. like is it not tiring to look at subtext and decide to run around in circles in your head trying to prove that it wasn't on purpose cause the writers are stupid and don't know what they're doing and you're far smarter cause nothing meaningful is on purpose. is it not tiring and unsatisfying to have only bad faith interpretations on purpose

I know I shouldn’t be turning to to individuals as like a Source™️, but I’ve tried google and come up with nothing. Could you explain what The Jackles Long Con is?
there is no conceivable way of answering this without making me sound like an insane person so if you are reading this and know me in real life please look away. I’m a normal human woman who knows a normal amount of things about the cw’s supernatural
I’m absolutely not providing sources for any of this btw because that would mean I think this is legit. which haha, would be insane. or would it 🤔
anyways here is what I know:
up until basically last week everyone (including fans lol) was convinced that jensen ackles was WILDLY uncomfortable with the gay subtext in spn, based on like, every single thing he’s said and done in public since 2008 apparently. I’m not gonna go hunting for sources because that’s insane but he’s not always had the best PR presence when it comes to handling queer fans/questions about queer rep so this wasn’t an unfair accusation
not that I blame him, this fandom was psychotic
I say that like I’m not typing up an explanation for the jackles longcon in 2020. I can admit to being a hypocrite
ANYWAYS everyone had it in their heads that jackles was lowkey homophobic or at least uncomfortable with the queer interpretations of the character he played on tv because he related heavily to said character and is a 40 year old straight american man. again. this is not an unfair accusation against him.
THAT BEING SAID he seemed to change his tune or at least not be so loudly against it in the last...idk, year? I haven’t followed this much because at no point in my life have I ever wanted to know about the opinions or lives of actors on the CW network and yet. here I am
it’s pretty much a fact that he didn’t like the ending. he’s said he struggled with it and had to be talked around by multiple people including kripke. everyone thought it was because it was gay, turns out he just has taste
what we do know is that he has talked more about ep18 than he has about the finale. this is more probably due to NDA clauses but STILL
he asked a crew member to film the confession scene so he’d have an unedited version of it, and also mentioned that there were a lot more reactions on his part that were cut
he also shared fan reaction videos to the confession with misha collins, although the way he describes that is more akin to a scientific observer documenting animals in the wild lol. again this is a straight man in his 40s, he’s trying ok
halfway through this explanation and it just occurred to me that jensen ackles being homophobic and still a bigger proponent for canon destiel/bi dean than anyone else at the CW would be the funniest thing that has ever happened to me so I am IMMEDIATELY choosing to pivot to that angle and will believe that until proven otherwise
oh somewhat related someone also brought up that he was really really against fridging charlie, so never mind I changed my mind again, one true ally of the Communité jensen ackles
he’s talked about dean’s reaction to that scene, and did not say definitively that dean doesn’t reciprocate. he’s said that dean’s reaction is more due to misunderstanding castiel’s intentions because of the species difference. jensen said hashtag dumbass dean rights
ackles (and his wife, known cas girl danneel) has been virtually silent since the show ended. the only major thing he’s posted related to the show has been that IG post of the rebar
the only two tweets he liked (at least as of saturday when I stopped paying attention to this) about the show were misha collins’ tweet and bobo berens’ tweet about ep 18. berens is the writer of ep18 and that was his last episode
he unfollowed andrew dabb on twitter in 2017
this is all to say. everyone is now convinced that jensen ackles has been on board with canon destiel since at least the beginning of season 15, and has started his own production company with the intent to film a post-canon miniseries fixit to make that happen. I am only slightly joking here

dont really want to add to the negativity but i just had to bring this up, last year when joon came live on his birthday he expressed his mixed feelings over the success of dynamite and said he’d been wondering how true the sentiment that music could overcome language boundaries was
he really!! came online and said it out loud! he was upfront about a topic that a good portion of us were wondering about
and i saw hardly anyone talk about it? of course joon seemed to have come to terms with his feelings by butter since he felt like he’d stopped taking shit during the interviews and stuff
but the way it was not at all talked about by the fandom. really
and this one thing is enough imo to tell us that they werent satisfied with dynamite either, if their solo work isnt enough proof
and hundred percent agree about them seeming tired, rather have them get a proper break than get a million performances of the same song
Tumblr media Tumblr media
thank u for giving me the link i was really interested to hear what he said!! and even though i read your ask before watching it i was still surprised at how honest he was and i can also see why armys wouldnt be eager to bring up what he said lol. when he said
“"Music truly transcends every barrier like language" Even while I was saying that I questioned myself if I indeed believe this. Some songs are great even if you don't know the lyrics, songs made better by knowing them, and songs made worse. Lyrics of course are important in a song, but music is fundamentally aural. The auditory aspect and the especially the visual aspect of songs these days.”
idk i could be misunderstanding but to me its like yea how /could/ that statement be true if they were only able to finally get the billboard #1 with an all english song like if that were true black swan wouldve gotten the dynamite treatment she rightfully deserved! ✊ and that it doesnt really matter what their english singles sound like aurally as long as theyre in english :/ and then you didnt mention this but a little later when he said
“I still love music. Just walking and humming a tune makes me happy and still feel I can't live without it. But I still want to rekindle what I had before at first. That purity. Different from going back to my roots. Rekindle what I used to love what gave me mental satisfaction back then.”
that was just like. woah. i think that could be interpreted in different ways but in the context of dynamite/ the english singles i think its just really telling the fact he felt strongly enough to say that in a log posted to bangtantv… idk but thank u for bringing this up it was actually kind of reassuring to hear especially from him? because of course we dont know how they all feel about the direction theyve taken but its nice to hear from joon specifically like u said cus he mediates between them and the company and is more involved in producing n whatnot. but yea also like u said i feel like their solo work alone is enough reason to believe they may not be fully behind the songs theyve been putting out lately. like mono is one of my fav albums of all time its so beautiful, and obvi d-2 and hope world are just so amazing and well made as well, and so in my head its almost a little rude? that armies would just accept that dynamite and ptd and butter are the best the boys can do when theyve shown us in the past how much more dedicated they are to their passion than to put out generic pop songs. but then theyve also put out songs in the past that fit into that same sort of genre but are actually good.. like boy with luv? dimple? dna? run?? why not just make another song like that and then have only the lyrics written by someone else in english or something idek. but dont feel stupid for being upset it is really frustrating just because we know how much better they are and its annoying to watch them waste their time on the industry that will probably still not pay them any mind anyway :/ armies can stream obsessively all they want but theyre still just that, streams, and it doesnt mean the gp or the grammys or whoever is gonna pay anymore attention to them,,, so why not just go back to making good music ? :DDDD

i’ve been aching to commentate spirit phone’s commentary for ages. glad i finally got around to it, this was an ejoyable experience. liveblog below the cut
-i'm like half certain i've heard this commentary before. maybe not the whole way through & it was probably actual years ago
-nice hearing stuff like this. in-depth personal view of the album-making process. makes it seem like more of a real thing i could do myself someday
-neil cicierega real person momence
-i could probably go real in depth about neil cicierega/tally hall parallels specifically concerning like. the arc of their musical careers. but i won't, here
-wild how i legitimately don't care much about micheal jackson
-didnt we get a bunch of spirit phone stems from the needlejuice release/his patreon? we could probably hear the funny track he speaks of here in that
-i love hearing musical artists, especially neil cicierega, talking about the meanings of their songs. like, not only has this song been claimed to hell & back by the tumblr gays, but with later ones i just can't see where he gets these ideas from. also, claiming there's any one meaning or plot to a song just seems silly to me
-shoutout to neil reusing a midi from like, 1998, that he made at 12 years old, whose entire melody was reused for the main verses of everybody loves raymond. loved finding that out on my own 2 years ago. now it's common trivia in this fandom. not bad times
-it'd be neat if neil did individual trans tracks here like he did with view monstel, those things are half of why i consider it my favorite album
-it's a lot easier to ignore the creator's intended meaning behind a song when he can't even remember it. thanks neil
-seesaw effect
-and there's my joke all but 1 of my followers wont get. moving on
-what kinds of movie theater lobbies has neil been to where there are arcade machines. i mean im not one to talk but that does sound rather strange
-why do songs' titles even need to be taken from the lyrics. ive never seen that as any sort of requisite. it's like titling any form of prose you can just give it whatever name ya like
-"this part sounds pretty cool right"
-is neil's vocal range only mildly better than mine? with training i could change that
-oh i haven't processed any of the last 25 seconds hold on
-god. a shit ton of vocal modification in this song. it's like neil returned to his roots but with quality this time
-i, as an ace/aro, have never related more to an allohet guy in my life. what is the point of eyes!
-professional humming/whistling takes skill. it's different from the recreational or casual stuff. i'd know
-there's a name for the way sound (especially music) gets distorted when moving past you and i can't remember it but it's probably what neil's referring to here in the way he recorded the intro
(- update: it's the doppler effect no need to tell me cas already did)
-as someone who hasnt seen the rugrats or take me there by blackstreet i'll just say it sounded like a bouncy music box melody. nice to hear a song that messes with the typical scales though. lydian & diatonic.
-that's a rather specific thing to be glad about, but given what he talked about in his last full audio commentary about the jew harp i suppose i'm not surprised
-i know that tmbg song now. listened to it & saw the music video too. yep they're different alright
-where the hell does neil get all these instrumence from anyway
-huh. hadnt heard this part of the commentary before making my oc concerning this song but i like to hear neil's approval concerning part of my interpretation
-i love how ive heard a billion different tellings of this mellified man story from lem dem fans talking about this song and neil's is by far the wildest
-good god that does only make it worse neil
-i love making liveblogs of lemon demon albums. with the fullerenes or tally hall i cant name a specific dude to take out my woes on generally but with lemon demon i can just say neil all the time. i like being on a casual first name basis with this dude ive never interacted with once ever
-is sweet bod the one other than cabinet man with a demo in the bonus tracks? i forget
-holy shit the boston molasses disaster someone call up soapy if it doesnt already know, it'd love this
-two thousand nine. god i miss the fiddle solo. the ver with it is truly the best one
-he pronounces it jeff? i've always read it as gef with a hard g. that's what i get for knowing words that are never spoken aloud
-that's a fun meta interpretation of this ghost story that's over a century old. i like that
-i've noticed neil generally does the same synths across a whole album. it's especially more clear in the earlier ones, and does mean i occasionally mix up songs between clown circus & live from the haunted candle shop
-ah! ancient aliens! my least favorite track on this album. i cant even claim to have the least interest in a popular one i've just generally not liked this one much from the beginning. so im curious to see what neil's got to say, i think ive been in ~new commentary zone for a while now
-anyway. newest update on the loolin not realizing a song's funky time signature front: i think this one's in 6/4. or at least switches a lot between time signatures. granted i dont listen to it very often for the reasons stated above
-see the way neil describes it. eldritch horror upon being visited by the unknown at a time when humanity'd hadn't even yet had a chance to imagine such a thing occurring. should be right up my alley. but the sound itself & many of the lyrics simply turn me away.
-must i specify i don't dislike it? spirit phone is neil's best album it not being my favorite doesn't mean i think it's bad yadda yadda nobody should be surprised by this it's not like anyone in these fandoms reads my liveblogs <3
-granted i think this is. the first bit of spirit phone content i've made on my blog ever. so who knows things can change <3
-the transitions in spirit phone are much less view-monster transition tracks & more extended outros. view-monster's were a bit more intro than outro sure but they also seemed directed upon making a 2-way rather than 1-way bridge between tracks. or something like that
-.............soft fuzzy man is an incredible nickname for a cat. i'd steal that if i werent afraid of introducing my relatives to lemon demon
-jirls
-an underlying metaphor is good enough. the literal side of the lyrics are fun. nothing but agreement here neil my good man
-the transition into as your father i expressly forbid it from soft fuzzy man is the best one in this album
-buddy you ask if a musical idea has been used before odds are the answer is yes in this day & age the question is has it been used in the way you're using it. like sure this soul jazz record from the 60s that was sold out in kansas stores for a week used this bassline that youve found yourself copying. but seeing as youre using it in some angsty garage rock ballad type tune does anybody actually care
-doesn't everybody like to say things in an unhinged manner from time to time
-imagine having a guitar dad, i say, with my dad being a folk accordion/fiddle dad, which is infinitely worse in every way
-i think he was in an actual folk band at some point. idk the 90s were weird
-iron my life?
-m-more intimate? there are a lot of ways i'd describe this song but intimate isn't one of them. granted as your father is negatively intimate so from there i guess you've got nowhere to go but up
-...still glad to see his interpretation kinda supports my oc at least
-the way he says characters in songs shouldn't worry about death really strongly makes me think this is some sort of. thematic continuation of stuck from dinosaurchestra, even if there's no real death in there. interesting. would also mean that the dad from these past 2 songs is named carlos betty (no last name)
-i literally never assumed this was a flute solo. piccolo at best. it's pretty clearly a recorder
-my mom plays the recorder. i wonder if she can play recorder better than neil cicierega
-we can throw a party in honor of the crushing weight of responsibility! i simply won't be the one throwing it because i have enough on my plate already <3
-what the hell does "a sense of intent" mean
-i've never heard rush before however i disagree with neil's understanding of 6/4. 6/4 is meant to have emphasis (onbeat or another term i can't remember) on the 1st & 4th beat of every measure, which is greatly different from a measure of 4/4 then a measure of 2/4. it's why his 5/4 always sounds weird, because while it's recognizable in sequences of 10/4, it's more 2 measures of 4/4 with one of 2/4 tacked on the end. that's also how it's different from 3/4. i don't know much music theory but what i do understand i will fight to the death about
-"canonized" that's. a very interesting term to use when referring to a former president
-from now on i will interpret every love song directed at some unseen "you" to be inviting me to marry them for tax purposes. thanks neil for being an aromantic icon
-ah hell yes hell yes man-made object is my favorite goddam song on this album
-short & sweet & good damn vibes. neil's thoughts on it all are only making it better
-wild how he uses very few vocal effects for a song that he clearly is straining his vocal range for. go off neil
-the qualifier of man-made is a wonderful thing. oldest or biggest thing? oldest or biggest man-made thing? what a incredibly important specification. a world of possibilities lie between the two. oh i love it
-just gets me thinking yknow! what we consider weird/impressive in another species, in our own species- what kind of equivalent to that would there be from an outsider looking in? are there alien versions of the significances we place upon things, that we could never imagine? the limits of the human imagination mean we could never conceive of something else in the world that isn't, in some way great or small, just like us- and are we wrong for thinking that? such a juicy topic i wish there were a name for it because it's kinda hard to explain concisely
-spiral of ants. my second favorite song from this album, in fact. a good one to experience
-the vocals are just another instrument. they really truly are. i wasn't going into this commentary expecting to feel solidarity for neil cicierega in this chili's tonight on more than one occasion but here i am.
-like, his whole stance on interpreting songs is something i agree with almost entirely. you can take it at face value, you can dig to their very depths, you can listen to songs without caring what the lyrics mean whatsoever, and those are all fun. & yeah while any of these people can be annoying as one of the types who enjoys gliding on the surface more than anything i find those who dedicate themselves to figuring out the whole meaning of a song over anything else to be both slightly scary & slightly annoying <3 keep up the good work
-i want to make songs for my siblings the way neil makes songs for his sibling(s)
-spinch
-neil really shouldn't be allowed to be this funny like this whole album youre thinking golly! he's just a normal man this neil cicierega! and then he starts listing the cat hacks jokes & you remember he's had ridiculously consistent viral success with all his humorous endeavors and holy shit it's neil cicierega in action talking about his music. god bless you neil
-you're welcome, no problem, my pleasure. good eveternoon, radio audience!

Okay so. Someone asked me why I thought Marvus was a prince of time and I decided maybe to write a post about it! To be completely honest, this whole ‘theory’ started because I simply enjoy the thought of Marvus in the princely pantaloons lol.
I want to start this post off with: everyone interprets characters and classes a little differently and classpects are more about personal growth, and I can only present my thoughts based on my own perspective of Marvus. In fact, I do think that you could make strong arguments towards other classes (mage being a strong contender, but I can see witch and bard, for example.... we’ll get to those later), but I feel personally that prince suits him best.
Also I am not a classpecting blog just for the record, nor am I trying to impart some big truth or my own views upon the fandom. This was purely speculation for fun’s sake, and because someone asked :) !!
So let’s start with what it means to be time bound! Very simply put, the time bound are goal oriented, chaos minded, in tune with rhythms and death, and are generally more focused on “the ends justify the means.” This absolutely suits Marvus: he is clearly working towards his own goal (or, my personal opinion, several of his own parallel goals), he definitely wants to “shake things up,” he’s a musician (see his friendsim route, people die to his music), and, well, just look at the end of act 2- he’s definitely justifying his treatment of Joey as end > means. So he’s pretty strongly connected to his aspect right away and takes control of it, which in my opinion rules out page and heir.
Let’s move on to classes to really narrow it down.
Lord/Muse are reserved for two player sessions, and my personal headcanon is that these are cherub exclusive, so I won’t be looking into or considering those.
Witches take control and change through their aspect: this could definitely suit him! Marvus is all about control and he’s definitely patient enough, but to my understanding witch is that they are very inclined to take command and manipulate their object. Witches in canon tend to be very detached from people (Jade, Damara, Feferi), and Marvus is a people person, so I think we can rule this one out. You could argue that he’s rather detached emotionally, but I’m not going to. Doesn’t vibe with me.
Heirs are served a lot of their aspect without much control over it. Doesn’t sound like Marvus to me, plus I don’t see him as a passive player.
Seer.... I understand why this one is a popular headcanon- it’s all about influencing from behind the scenes, and Marvus definitely does do that- but seers focus their intents almost entirely though others. Marvus definitely inserts himself where he needs to be, and he’s capable of manipulating his aspect on his own when it suits him. And again, I personally don’t see him as a passive player, for all that he’d like to appear passive. He has big goals and he wants to- or, in his eyes, he will achieve them.
Mage is almost right: tbh I don’t quite understand mages, but my interpretation is “understand first, act second.” Suits Marvus, but I think he does have an inclination to want to act as quickly as possible. Plus, it’s implied that mages suffer through their aspect; Marvus is definitely not suffering. Other people certainly are, though, so I can see an argument in favor of Mage of Time Marvus for sure! Again, it simply doesn’t have quite the right vibe to me.
Maids and Sylphs lean more towards being healer classes.... no <3.
Thief and rogue have small themes of justice and stealing, and I don’t see that fitting Marvus.
Now bard.... bard is similar to prince! I only say no to this one because Marvus reads to me as an active class. I do like to imagine him in the bardly god hood, though. I wonder if it would be blasphemy, since those are the robes of the messiahs...? Anyway not relevant kjadslaskdj
So let’s move on to prince, and why I think it suits him.
Princes are destruction classes, and Marvus does have themes of destruction through time throughout his friendsim route and act 2. In friendsim, he did his best to delay (or destroy) the bad time line for MSPAR, and he’s actively helping Joey along the path of... not quite least resistance. It’s fair to say he’s working towards a timeline that suits his needs. Princes are fueled by their aspects, and Marvus definitely shines as a timebound. The strongest and most elegant arguement for Prince of Time; he’s an incredibly successful musician. and themes of prince of time can be found especially prevalent here: people are literally destroyed by his rhythm.
Princes also act as leaders working under an authority. I don’t really want to argue who he’s working for specifically- scratch and the clurch are definitely tied, but Marvus does seem to have his own agenda. This point can only be elaborated on the more we get to understand Marvus as a character, so I’m not going to argue it super deeply just yet.
Lastly, all princes need subjects. For Dirk, he had the carapacians and then later I guess the audience? Idk, i don’t read current homestuck, i don’t know her. Eridan had his angels. Marvus has his adoring crowds.
And on a more personal level, I can see a large personality trait of princes as feeling disdainful or having a complicated relationship with their aspect. Marvus definitely does not like when things stagnate; see how in act two he actively pushes Joey forward, and even pushes her into understanding Alternia so she can grow.
So yeah those are my thoughts! I can talk about Marvus for hours, but I’d like to reiterate again that this is only my personal point of view and we very likely won’t ever get canon classpects for the fs/act2 trolls, so please have fun and do whatever suits you best!

heyy lemony! just saying i really feel a lot of what you said re: that ask about why you got into writing x reader stuff. I could relate to a lot of it, and especially the rage reading - I would come across stuff that would bother me and then I would inexplicably read it, and then it would be on my mind in a negative way for a long time afterwards. it took me a while, but I learnt to just ignore, to the best of my ability, stuff that I know i won't like or will have a negative effect on me.
I always feel bad cuz I'm kind of fussy and particular in what i like and don't like, especially with content and characterisation, and I had this thing that once i started reading a fic I felt like I always had to finish it, no matter how little I was enjoying it, but I've learnt to just... keep away from everything that I don't like, even if it's from friends or writers that are used to me reading their work (i still feel bad about that sometimes). I've just come to realise that learning to curate your own experiences is really really important, and things
And yeah, portrayals of your faves was such a big factor behind me writing as well... Like at the end of the day, it's very unlikely that someone's interpretation of something will line up 100% with how you perceive a character, even if they're amazing writers and it does for the most aprt, but if you're writing the thing, it always will. But I totally empathise with you reading Kakashi fics and it not flying with the Kakashi you knew 😂 i've had that feelign many a time.
Also, about the SI vs OC thing... As someone who has had the same OC for like half her life and will *never* let this character ever see the light of day, I'll tell you why i struggle more to get into OC stories. To me... they seem very personal? Like, with an SI it's much easier to identify with the character and forget about my own OCs for a while whereas I struggle reconciling my own imagination and ideas if its a series or character i'm really invested in with OC stories. Idk, I just feel OC stories feel more... connected to the author, in a way, if that makes sense? Lol. So i know there are amazing OC stories out there, and I have read them and will read more in the future, but for me, if it's a character and series I'm really invested in, I just struggle to really separate my own mind and ideas from what I'm reading.
I'm *SO* sorry for all the rambles lmao I just resonated with a lot of what you said and thought it was really cool of you to go in deep the way you did 💕
- pf 🌸
oh my deaf pf, never apologize for rambles. <3
i think that learning to ignore the stuff i used to "rage-read" back in the day is definitely a signifier of growth. i don't know shit about psychology so i can't explain why we do these kinds of things, but it's certainly a more universal experience than i realized, lol. and honestly? writing my own fic has made it much easier for me to tune out the content that doesn't bring me joy, so i'm really grateful for that.
i know no one is ever going to see kakashi (or any character) exactly the same way i do, that's one of the things that's so cool about fandom! i love reading others' interpretations most of the time. but that variation def means we occasionally come across things that we don't enjoy at all, and it can be really hard to turn away from reading something you've already invested time in or that is created by a person you interact with on the regular.
finding that balance is definitely a trick and a half, but a worthwhile endeavor to ensure your online experience is as consistently positive as possible.
i have to say i really enjoy a good oc story where the character is well-developed and there's obviously a lot of love put into them. SI fics for me are a very different and more immersive experience, so i think it just depends on my mood at any given time as to which i'll be more interested in reading.
also, full disclosure: a few of my smutty SI pieces are definitely scenes i originally imagined for my longfic, but that i know will never be written for it because explicit scenes don't really suit the vibe of the fic. so i adapted them for the masses instead, lol.
thanks so much for your rambles! it makes me feel better that i did the same when i answered the original ask. XD

Thank you for reblogging that post about how some fans seem to have a problem with other fans wanting wlw relationships and characters on lone star. It is soooo infuriating and invalidating as a wlw woman myself seeing so many fans act like us wanting wlw characters and relationships weird or delusional. I literally just saw a blog call fans who want wlw rep delusional. Like how can you say something like that? Do you know how hurtful that is? And I’m not just the only wlw fan of lone star or fan in general wanting wlw rep. It’s not even asking for much? Like excuse us for wanting wlw representation? How does that make us weird or delusional? What makes mlm relationships the only valid ones and wlw relationships and characters invalid? It’s just so incredibly rude. There’s bias and other things I could talk about but we all know that already- why these fans are saying things like that. I have learned to just tune these fans out because it does no good to see stuff like that. Recently in both the 911 AND lone star fandom I guess you could say, I have seen so many fans try to gatekeep opinions and basically bully and say other incredibly hurtful things to fans who don’t view things the same way. And it’s like nothing is that serious this is a tv show about fictional people. We are all here just meant to be having fun watching a good show on tv. But instead fans wanna act like their opinions are more important or are the only important things. When that’s not true. There’s nothing wrong with wlw fans or just fans in general wanting wlw representation too. Because idk if they realize this but wlw women exist in real life, so it would be nice to see that reflected onscreen. Because it’s nice to see people like you or even if you aren’t wlw yourself, wlw women onscreen....... like why is this so hard for some fans to understand lol they can be so nasty and hurtful when they don’t even have to be
anon youre absolutely right.
I was gonna talk about fandom history here, and how shipping developed and how a lack of canonicity has never been a boundary to shipping, and how crack ships and rare pairs have been a part of fandom pretty much since the word go and why should that change now? and that wlw ships have always been rarer for reasons I kind of went into on the tags on this post, and that the lack of screentime for female characters, particularly with each other, has been yet another boundary to the prevalence of wlw shipping.
then I saw the original posts that I suspect kicked this whole thing off. and im just. so tired.
here's my advice anon.
get friendly with your block button. clear out any blogs that are putting things on your dash/in the tags that are hurting you. filter out any phrases that pop up in posts with that kind of hurtful stuff. curate your Tumblr experience and protect yourself.
other fans have no right to tell you whether or not a ship is ‘valid’ or not. so long as you aren’t hurting anyone (and shipping two adult women certainly isnt doing that) go right ahead. enjoy the dynamic that you find, and explore it to your heart’s content.
there are many many issues with shipping in fandom. white ships get prioritised over interracial ships, queer ships get erased for straight ships,  noncanon mlm ships get prioritised over healthy f/m ships, white mlm ships get prioritised over interracial f/m ships, queer characters get some part or all of their sexuality erased to fit some arbitrary binary. fandom is not exempt from racism, or sexism, or even queerphobia, and these are the issues we should be critical of.
shipping two women together - two women who currently have no other relationships and have unconfirmed sexualities so are literally open to any interpretation, women who are fully capable of being in a consensual relationship - this is not a concept that needs to be criticised.
fuck that blog. fuck those people. wlw ships are just as valid as mlm ships, and you are entitled to an existence of acceptance.
