Okay look its about 1 in the morning while im writing this and i just got done literally scrolling thru @jungshookz e n t i r e page and honestly ive been delusionally laughing over her stories for like an hour and a half like the tattooartist!jungkook fic legit killed me i love it and i’m probably going to force my friend to check her out because legit i love it so much and she seems like such a funny person and if she sees this 1) ily and ur writing and i wanna be friends but idk how to start a conversation because im a awKwARd bEan and 2) im sorry for probably spamming ur notifications with likes okay i couldnt help it so now im inspired for the first time in a while to write but im way to loopy to put together an actual fic so enjoy this ig

I feel like in reality there are just a bunch of rumors about him but hes so smol and hes the quiet type so he doesnt have the energy to dismiss them

Like im sorry soft jungkook is way to good in my mind rn okay #cuddles4days im not in the mood for him to strangle me with his amazing biceps

Anyway

you never rlly met him in the 4 years of going to the same highschool as him (since you’re in those smart people classes like humanities) until senior year

You and him had the same AP Lit. class lmao english class is l i t

Which surprised you bc of the rumors like i thought he was a badboy ?? arent those normally idiots ??

First day of school cliche where you show up late to class and have to sit next to him because i d i e for those plots okay

But you dont know thats him because you’ve never seen him, so you’re confused on why most of the girls keep glaring at you

But soon enough you catch on and you’re like fml

And then the professor is like “where you are sitting is your assigned seating for the rest of the year” and you’re like f m L

He ends up introducing himself to you because i mean like table buddies

But hes really nervous because hes a cute little bean and you’re hella cute cuz lets be honest ur probably wearing like basic black leggings and a hoodie with your hood over your head to hide the bed hair you didnt feel like brushing that morning

Oh, just me? Okay…

He likes ur name because it rolls off the tongue and he thinks it suits you even tho he doesnt know you

You dont really think hes a fuckboy because he seems so nice and he has the cutest lil bunny smile sEE

That is until after school u end up getting to ur locker late because u left something in one of your classes

And u see him pinning a girl against the lockers down the hall

And ur like well shit nvm

And u quickly get ur shit and go because das a w k w a r d

But then he sees u run off and hes like awh crap i dun fucked up

A few weeks go by and u notice he barely really comes to class so u usually sit alone

On days he does come his chair seems extra close to yours and he’s basically smothering you

But u dont mind because he smells nice

And on the days he does come you get kinda excited because

1) you get a partner who doesnt expect you to do all of the work

2) this boy cute when he gets all intelligent

Ur like “yes pls continue speaking about the essay we are writing that i have no idea is on because i kept getting lost in the sound of ur voice”

He notices when u zone out because you start staring at his lips when hes talking and he thinks its the cutest thing

One day u get assigned a week long project and ur close enough friends with jungkook to basically scold and force him to come to class all week

But only if he can force u to come to his house to work on it after school

Which you’re low key nervous of because ur going to a ‘fuckboy’s house’ by yourself

And u dont wanna do the dirty because ur a pure child haha not for long

But you agree anyway

And honestly even after the project is done (which you got an A on) you continue going over to his house because his bed is comfortable and he always has snacks

And his mom loves you

Like legit on days you dont go the next day you do she’s like “wheRE WERE YOU”

When the semester is over the professor lets you pick seats but you both enjoy each other’s company so you stay seated together.

finally ur at his house one day and ur just laying on his bed scrolling thru insta and he’s sitting on his bean bag in the corner on his phone and u look up at him and realise

You like him

Like a lot

And u mentally face palm because this was not supposed to happen

But it happened and you’re too far down the hole to climb out

Sometimes u end up napping at his house after school because his bed is more comfortable than yours and one friday night u wake up in his arms

And its like the best feeling ever

Its so warm and hes so cuddly hes like latched onto you

You stay under the warm blankets before you question when he even got in bed since he was playing video games before you fell asleep

And then his phone lights up and ofc you check it for him bc ur a nosey bitch

But not before you observed how adorable he was while he was sleeping

Nope not creepy at all

its his friend tae texting him (you didn’t really know his friends since you had different friend groups)

You check it and its smth like “stop staring at y/n while shes sleeping and reply u creep”

And you’re like w a t

So you scroll up and see that while u were sleeping jungkook went on a full rant on how cute u are and how whipped he is

And ur like holy fadoodles dis boy likes me

And so u decided to text tae like “this is y/n, does he actually like me”

Which turns into you both having a convo on how thirsty jungkook is until he wakes up

Hes like wtf r u doing and he snatches the phone and reads through your messages with tae while u like sit up to stare at him

And he’s still half asleep so it takes him to realise whats going on

“Omfg y/n i can explain-”

He starts rambling about how long he had been crushing on u and that he didn’t want to tell you because you seemed uninterested so he kept it a secret and never told anyone

And honestly he was freaking out because the onE tiMe he tells anyone that he likes you, you find out

But while he’s rambling you’re coming up with an excuse to text your mom that you’re spending the night at his house, so you just say he’s not feeling well and his parents are gone for the weekend.

Lmao she doesnt care she’s just like “lmao ik ur lying but have fun dont get pregnant”

Or Maybe thats just my mom idk

You have to shut him up by snatching his phone out of his hands and kissing him

When you pull away you’re just like “you talk too much lmao”

You explain to him that you like him too and u just get under the covers again and snuggle up next to him, and he wraps his arms around you

And you stay like that for a while before hes like “its late you should get home”

And you tell him you’re staying the night whether he likes it or not

And he is so down for that

But then you end up just spending the weekend there because why not his parents love you

And every night is just filled with cuddling, watching netflix, making out, late night snacks, etc.

Saturday night he gets a lil touchy and soon enough ur like straddling him and grinding your hips against his

But then he’s like “Ive never done this before” and you c o m b u s t

Ur like aren’t you like the school fuckboy how have you not done this

And he tells you its all just rumors and hes too lazy to set the record straight

And you basically decide to take things slow that night since it was you’re first time too and honestly it was so cute

It wasn’t really steamy rough sex it was more soft fluffy love making that is filled with giggling and exploring and appreciating each other

That was definitely the night you fell in love with him

Which is big because you thought love was gross

The next day you’re cuddling and he’s like “you know ur my gf now”

And ur like duh

You start going on cute dates after that like going to cafes or amusement parks

He loved taking you to the beach during the summer because u looked gr8 in a bikini

You found out you were going to the same college with was fantastic, so you decided to rent an apartment together nearby the campus instead of living in a dorm.

Which normally you’d be against because moving in together so quickly ?? but you felt different like this relationship was going to last

UNTIL HE CHEATED

Lmao jk gotcha bitch

My baby is too pure and innocent to cheat

Well innocent until you both get into bed and then oh lord it gets steamy

He wants to experiment with like e v e r y t h i n g and honestly you were down

But ofc you set some boundaries.

There were lines he couldn’t cross

I mean sometimes he tried but you shut that down real quick

Overall your relationship was perfect and you couldn’t ask for a better boyfriend

I mean he brought you pizza rolls and dr pepper to ‘study dates’ how could you not love him.

Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. What is the real problem with its story?

I’m not sure if I am crazy for thinking that the Pokemon games, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon have done things with its story better than Sun and Moon.

The changes to the story made sense to me, (If you read my previous posts on the matter, you will get why I think that.) I liked how the Ultra Games humanized Lusamine and made her redemption MUCH more believable. I found Lillie’s growth to still be great, the Aether Family had closure to their drama.

Hau’s growth was great, RR was out there and amazing. Guzma having a redemption arc was good and I liked the concept that a pokemon is the main villain.

It confuses me when people hate on USUM’s story for these changes, it confuses me when they state problems with the story that were never there in the first place.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t see problems with USUM’s story in comparison to SM.

I personally see two big ones.

1. The Ultra Recon Squad and how they incorporated them and Necrozma into the story of SM.

The Ultra Recon Squad are essentially people from another dimension that came to Alola to study its light and find a way to stop Necrozma from going lose and stealing light from other worlds.

They were the people that Lusamine ended up making contact with instead of delving further into her search for Mohn and gave her an excuse to focus her efforts on something meaningful. They arrived on Alola through a Solgaleo/ Lunala and I can get the reason why the Nebby plot still happened. (Lusamine went Leeroy Jenkins on the Recon Squad and blew their plans up in smoke.)

I also get why Lusamine didn’t use the Solgaleo/ Lunala the Recon Squad have or why they didn’t give it to her. If they let that pokemon of light near Necrozma and if Necrozma went nuts... it would eat their only ride back to Ultra Megaopolis and their only way to get help.

That isn’t the problem with the Ultra Recon Squad, the things they do in the background are not the things they do on screen. Where all they talk about is backstory on Necrozma, things about their world and occasionally battle you.

They show up through out the story and never really do anything drastic on screen. Sometimes they show up in places that don’t really need them and they could have been used to take on a more active role.

As for Necrozma, like most pokemon in the “Upper” game, he is the central focus. In most of those other games, they show up at the end with little build up and do their part. In Emerald, it is because Aqua and Magma woke up Kyogre and Groudon and something needed to be done. In Platinum, Giratina shows up and drags Cyrus to hell.

Necrozma’s role is slightly better than Giratina’s... because he is the main villain of the game.

The problem though is outside of that eclipse in the beginning, he himself DOES not show up until the climax of the story. The plot revolves around people trying to stop Necrozma for various reasons and Lusamine agrooing Necrozma for her own selfish goals.

It isn’t bad of a story, but the build up comes from other characters and NOT from him.

He isn’t as established as people wanted and thus is kind of disappointing compared to SM where we had a lot of build up with Lusamine.

HOWEVER! In USUM, once Lusamine agroo’s Necrozma and the thing attacks Nebby, he... was....awesome! He ate Nebby, caused everything to go crazy... from an Ultra Beast outbreak to him draining Alola of its light and giving you an urgent reason to go into Ultra Space and beat Necrozma.

It is back to you the hero needing to stop the legendary, but that payoff was worth it. In addition, once we get to Necrozma and beat him, we get to learn about him. His lore, his connection to Z power and how he is the source. How he, like Solgaleo and Lunala can manipulate Ultra Wormholes.

Why Necrozma is going after light, etc.

In addition, Ultra Necrozma is a FAR superior climax boss compared to Mother Beast Lusamine. We actually fight the fused alien monstrosity this time and he gives us the best challenge we can want in a pokemon game... compared to the Mother Beast who just uses totem boosted pokemon.

Had USUM giving Necrozma more activity... or a passive way to making himself known, (Like frequent eclipses.) no one would be complaining about the story changing for the Necrozma plot, we would have had much more weight to seeing him as the big bad.

I did like Lusamine going Leeroy Jenkins and agrooing him, but the thing I mentioned would have made things over the top in crazy much sooner.

Speaking of which.

2. The Aether Family

While I like the changes to Lusamine and the family dynamic, the biggest problem with USUM is towards Poni Island and the focus on Lillie.

In SM, her and her family story dominated the plot and in USUM most of it is still there. (Because third versions keep most of the story there.)

In SM, it was nice to spend time with Lillie and form a connection with her. In USUM, we get less of that in the main story, starting with the removal of her moment in Exeggutor Island. I get why it was removed, the general thing of what she said in her feelings towards your character was moved to the end of RR’s episode and Lusamine was humanized so Lillie’s speech about her and Lusamine’s cute moment were rendered not needed.

However, it could have been tweaked to where you and Lillie talk about something else and have that bonding moment.

The next removal that is a problem is Lillie from the climax of the games main story. She was left with Lusamine, Guzma and the URS while you go fight Necrozma. There, she has a call out moment with Lusamine and we only got to see the aftermath.

I personally would have liked if we got both, Lillie tears down at Lusamine in a manner similar to SM and seeing Lusamine sit there and take it this time. But we were busy with Necrozma and miss out on Lillie’s big moment.

I liked that Lusamine listened to Lillie, but... it could have been better instead of becoming a trade off.

Then comes the Post Game, I liked Lusamine’s slow progression in her identity crisis, her resolution, her trying to understand her kids more instead of assuming she knows everything and post RR, seeing those frozen pokemon thawed out.

That... could have been added more, where we see Lusamine do something more than waving Gladion goodbye and letting Mohn. Seeing this woman go through some struggles, BUT this is pokemon where most of our reformed baddies are reformed just by the dialogue.

This story telling is as present in SM as it is in USUM, where we are TOLD things, but not shown thing!

SM and USUM story wise are meant to be looked at and used in a compare/ contrast so we can see a bigger picture to the more hidden things in both games.

SM, due to some of the basics we know of the characters and story.

USUM, due to giving us the bigger picture that SM tried to tell us/ show us and once again, proper closure to all these characters.

If you do that instead of dismissing USUM as a ruination of SM’s story, then you realize that combined... you got something pretty good in the story department by pokemon standards.

crimes of grindelwald thoughts

alright obvious spoilers not that it matters bc i have one follower lmao but !! i need somewhere to scream abt this movie

first of all i love jacob and newt so much. best parts of this movie honestly i love them and i want them to be happy

but to be fair i actually rlly rlly enjoyed watching this movie!! like,, there are a looot of things i dont understand about it and i have no idea how they happened or why theyre happening but thats Okay i would still recommend everyone watch it! its so good!!!

good things:

- grindelwald !! i mean,, no hes not a good thing but i really liked how they wrote his character. like i can UNDERSTAND the power he has over people and how hes manipulating them. hes really not just a Voldemort 2.0 and i respect that a lot bc thats not what an entirely different villain should be like. but casting issues and all aside i really liked this

- i also liked the interaction between leta lestrange and dumbledore that was some good stuff and the actors were rlly good too !!! - i like the direction queenie is going in. i mean i dont actually of course but it seems realistic and i think its important and its good character development n stuff so hhh hope that works out later tho !! i am Suspense

- jacob walked into that movie and i was like !!!!!!!!! :DDDDDDDDDDDDD i love him so much and it was rlly nice to see him back even if i dont think it was that neat to have him lose his memory of everything that happened for significance and in this movie have everything go like WHOOMP hes back but i uhhhh loved it anyway so this is not a complaint its a good thing - i still loved newt and having a good main character makes the whole movie a better watch in general. ive seen sequels where i just Cant get attatched to the new characters but wow i didnt really have much of a problem with that here

- it was also never boring and i really just loved n enjoyed this movie a lot!!! okay hhh bad things/things that i personally disliked:

- ive seen different opinions on this but??? what was that blood pact????? what are u doing??????????????? i cant even be coherent properly so here are the main reasons that was rlly dumb

1- w-who does that in a romantic relationship ever :o and yes jkr has literally said dumbledore n grindelwald were in LOVE HELLO feel free to correct me if im wrong on anything but if ur gonna say it u should show it,,,, Continuity Please. anyway separate issue but if u love someone youre not gonna be like “hey lets make SURE we dont fight each other ever” because youll trust that the other person?? isnt gonna fight u???!!!???? im

2- thats literally not the reason he “cannot move against grindelwald” okay like it shouldnt be. this conversation literally happens in dh and dumbledore says he was scared of facing what rlly happened when ariana died!! there was no actual physical thing stopping him!!! the only acceptable justification is that he doesnt want to face this ghosts of his past and that moment and he is SCARED okay so COME ON give dumbledore his faults! hes scared of his past and that IS the reason!!

3- wait how did grindelwald, aberforth, and albus fight if they had already entered a blood pact. like i dont think albus would aim for his own brother EVER but could he even attack grindelwald if they had a blood pact?? not sure how this works lol but who was he aiming for then??? just firing everywhere randomly without intention cause that sounds,,, significantly harder to believe and makes that scene loads messier esp if grindelwald couldnt aim for albus either so

4- the blood pact was so frickin unnecessary im sobbing. like there was the scene where its all like “oh some say you were as close as brothers” and dumbledore is like “oh we were closer than brothers...” and im like OK! the little scene in the air doesnt explicitly reveal anything either so thats ok but the closer than brothers line was rlly revealing for me. at least for like two minutes and then dumbledore looked in the mirror and saw himself making a blood pact w grindelwald. like ok is That what u meant by closer than brothers bc thats what everythings pointing to but it shouldnt be and i.............ugh

5- im honestly just kind of hhhhhhhhhhhh. i can concede that the blood pact might be significant in later films and i look forward to watching them! but. at the same time i. wish that if you were going to say dumbledore was gay it would actually be explicitly referenced in the movie, instead of dancing around that and dropping it in hints and pieces that fans of the series who know this information will understand and others can just dismiss as friendship! there were So Many good places in this movie to include this fact (altho feel free to disagree w me haha) and i think that not including this fact was honestly tiring.

- nagini...........obv this isnt a huge problem bc idk where her story will go next n it might develop n become important but as of rn, i have no idea what her role in this movie is. i wonder if her reappearance in the harry potter series will actually be of significance and if itll be explained how she will end up under servitude to voldemort bc i genuinely dont understand right now. it just seems like a cameo to draw attention in the trailer ghgdjh

- leta lestrange’s death didnt feel right or impactful and im sad . definitely a huge opinion here but it felt like a mandatory character snuff to make the movie sad and ghdsjgfh oh well :(

- little continuity issues?? dumbledore being DADA professor instead of transfiguration bc Boggarts Are Important For Foreshadowing. also how is mcgonagall an adult or actually how is she even alive and um of course the fact that this movie doesnt confirm what jkr has said about dumbledore and grindelwald beforehand.

- im actually going to totally repeat myself bc this deserves a separate point umm why arent dumbledore and grindelwald actually shown as in love with each other as young men. its completely relevant to the movie and its not hard to put it in there instead of the bLOOD PACT (ask anyone irl ive been screaming abt the blood pact ever since i came out of that movie). anyway i know david yates said he wouldnt be including that as part of the movie as fans are aware of that aNyway but its not that hard to understand. people are asking for actual representation?? not smt vague??? because this is just here to Please People. if u refuse to see this ship, ure just gonna see them as having a friendship! maybe u havent heard about what jkr said or maybe ure choosing to ignore it bc,, idk that says smt about u, or maybe another reason idk! but if u go into this knowing they were In Love and hoping to see confirmation of dumbledore being canonically gay, youre going to hear that “oh, we were more than brothers” line and be like oh yeah we been knew, or more seriously like hey! maybe we’re getting a canon confirmation, not just floaty young people leaning towards each other! like when he looked in the mirror i was like okay This Is It this is gna be confirmation but then it wasnt oop. it was the !!! bloooood paaact !!! which means that people could interpret the “closer than brothers” line as meaning oh we done did a blood pact that means we blood related look at us go! Wow! so this is basically just a half azzed attempt at pleasing people w stereotypical viewpoints and people happy to see representation. hmmmmmmmmmm.. (psst if u actually ship older dumbledore n grindelwald tho What Are You Doing Stop !! thats not a healthy relationship, grindelwald is an awful person and dumbledore deserves to grow from the person he was before!!! he deserves so much better!!! im not saying to ship them but im saying that if we’re gonna say they were in love as young men and if we are going to confirm that dumbledore is gay well,,, lets put that in canon pls!!!! we need canon representation but we dont need to pretend this ship is healthy or good bc its representation either. this isnt shipping this is asking to acknowledge that dumbledore was gay and in love with grindelwald and its confirmed that grindelwald was in love with him too. in the place the story of tcog is now, that relationship is not ever going to happen again and if u actually think it is ure suffering from some next-level delusion. just be definitive and acknowledge that your characters are LGBT tho pls!! u said they were!!! actually i would be so much happier to see a Happy And Healthy LGBT Pairing can we have that? please?)

- big spoiler but hOW IS CREDENCE ALBUS’ BROTHER WHAT IS HAPPENING DKFJDKSH i need to separate my thoughts again

1- AGE DIFFERENCE........apparently dumbledore is like 46 in this movie right?? credence doesnt look over 20. okay percival dumbledore is put in azkaban before albus starts school right?? so the maximum age albus can be is 11. now im gonna say that kendra was not having any more kids w anyone else after that incident fs so the oldest albus can be when ariana is born is 12, leaving room for some other stuff okay. ALBUS AND CREDENCE DONT LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE A 12 YEAR AGE GAP WHAT IS HAPPENINF

2- i saw people theorizing that credence is ariana’s son and NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO PLS NO

3- not an actual issue but i thought grindelwald said his name was berrylius dumbledore which i later remembered as berrylium dumbledore and anyway thank god for the internet

4- okay at this point i cant tell if this has just been brought in for shock value or smt like. is this relevant to the plot. is grindelwald even telling the truth. w-why did the movie end there. help....... i think thats it but i do want to say that i respect the rights of the creator jkr to do whatever she wants w these characters. its her world! but i can have a whole bunch of opinions n feelings about this movie and still support it. after all, i love harry potter and the whole wizarding world w my whole heart.

-peter spends the most time around the avengers during summer vacation, meaning the time frame in which peter is exposed to his bullies doesn’t tend to coincide with his time around the avengers-flash is his main bully but there are some other kids who give him trouble- flash doesn’t get physical since he isn’t really the sporty type but some other kids do-peter can’t fight because he wasn’t able to before the spider bite so he shouldn’t be able to now-and he can stop a moving car with his bare hands; a punch could probably kill someone-and peter DEFINITELY is not willing to find out-so he gets roughed up sometimes-they tend to avoid his face because they don’t want any adults to look into it-but the day before winter break starts they know peter will have a few weeks to heal up so they don’t really hold back-if he wasn’t enhanced he’d probably have a few broken bones-his day was made infinitely worse when he remembered that Happy would be picking him up to take him upstate for suit upgrades-happy was probably already there and had been waiting since the guys had ambushed him as the dismissal bell-he didn’t have enough time to do anything about his face since Happy was most likely furious with him already-he gathered up his backpack (which the assholes had torn- he’d have to ask may for another one)-happy was waiting outside the car and was clearly talking to someone-peter guessed it was tony judging by the frustration in happy’s voice-when happy saw him he was clearly about to chew him out for being late and then he actually took in peter’s dirty clothes and disheveled hair and wrecked face-peter just says “rough patrol last night” and gets in the car as fast as possible-happy really isn’t one for conversation so he doesn’t push but peter’s face is busted up and he’s worried about the kid-peter puts in headphones and his hands are shaking from the anxiety of being faced with multiple bullies at once-peter is tempted to text ned and mj but he’s supposed to be spider-man-spider-man shouldn’t have bullies -he’s been out late on patrol a lot lately so he’s pretty sleep deprived which he knows is affecting his healing factor-he ends up falling asleep on the way upstate-partially to hopefully lessen the visible damage before getting to the compound-it doesn’t really work, judging by happy’s wince when he open’s peter’s door and the passing glimpses he gets of his reflection in the windows of the compound-his eye isn’t swollen completely shut now though and lip stopped bleeding a while ago so he’ll take what he can get-is ribs are still heavily bruised so it hurts to move but he’s had worse-he also might be mildly concussed but he’s not gonna look too hard into it-peter goes to the room tony gave him to change into a spare set of clothes and wash his face-he’s still clearly injured but it doesn’t look quite as fresh and there’s no blood on his face now-FRIDAY tells peter that tony is currently in the kitchen and that bruce and clint are there too and peter knows he’s fucked right then and there-he was hoping to go directly to the lab and have as little face time with the avengers as possible-peter goes down to the kitchen anyway and just decides to act normal-as if clint isn’t as well trained as natasha or iron dad will let his black eye slide-peter takes one whole step into the kitchen before “the hell happened to you??”-peter sticks to the “rough patrol” story -and bruce points out that he should be healed up from any patrol related injuries by now-and clint’s like “so you skipped school to do crime fighting?? sick dude” because he’s a literal child-and before peter can even object Iron Dad is on his case about keeping his grades up-tony rants for like 5 minutes before peter can get a word in and say that he did, in fact, go to school-so then they’re all confused and peter has no backup plan-”its just some kids at school, okay?”-peter swears the room dropped like 10 degrees as soon as he said it-tony has FRIDAY call the rest of the avengers into the living area and they all join them-”what happened to spider-kid?”-its like 15 minutes of peter vehemently declaring that nothing is wrong-clint calls him out and he’s actually completely serious for once and its unnerving-peter says its kids from school and that its really not a big deal and he ends up explaining that he can’t hit back or defend himself-natasha points out that just because he can’t hurl a kid into a wall doesn’t mean he shouldn’t stick up for himself-”yeah but it’s better if it’s me”-tony almost has to take a walk at that-but it just makes sense because if peter isn’t bullied then that means other kids are and peter can handle it he’s fine-instead of pointing out how messed up that is, bucky asks if its just physical fighting and stuff-”nah its a nerd school and the jocks are usually too busy to hit penis parker”-”to hit who???”-”whaaaaaat,,,,,”-peter is literally the worst at playing it cool-bruce has to leave now his eyes are already pretty green and it doesn’t need to escalate any further-at this point they’re all pretty enraged because peter is a good kid and they’ve all grown super attached

-tony’s this close to fighting someone or destroying something-”they’re not deadnaming you right??” tony’s almost panicking at this point and he doesn’t even know why-”uh not really anymore? it’s fine like i said its usually just penis parker and thats already pretty old”-”alright so if you just give us the names we can get the addresses an-”-”tony you’re not harassing 16 year olds” peter should not be scolding a grown man-”16 year olds are harassing you”-”sam don’t encourage him” make that two grown men-”steve back me up here”-bucky smirked as steve just crossed his arms and said “i don’t like bullies”-so the most responsible member of the team isn’t even backing peter up-wonderful-they talk for a little while longer and peter gives up trying to get them to chill-tony ends up sending him up to medical where bruce is to make sure he’s not too injured-bruce sends him to bed after making sure none of his ribs are broken-he can’t sleep and tosses and turns for a few hours but figures nothing too bad will happen-in fact he gets through winter break without it being brought up and almost forgot about it by the time school starts up-that is until clint turns out to be a janitor who just so happens to swing by when flash is starting shit outside the cafeteria-clint is apparently able to get flash suspended?? somehow?? peter’s pretty sure blackmail is involved-and then natasha is filling in for a PE teacher-and ends up cornering a few of the jocks responsible for peter’s injuries a few weeks previously-tony and happy come to pick him up again-honestly peter can’t help but feel like they’re really overselling it but he can’t complain-he’s pretty touched actually-these fuckin nerds will do anything for peter and peter would do the same for them and peter wouldn’t trade it for anything

The infamous Patrick Hockstetter wasn’t sure if it was the way Y/F/N oh so confidently carried herself through the crowded school halls on her first day, despite the ‘NEW KID’ label pasted all over her, oozing a level of confidence that he desperately desired to rip away from her. He wasn’t sure if it was the way each male gaze shamelessly lingered over her body a little too long when she wore that floral dress, evident that they were all harboring their own sinful thoughts based around the girl just like he was and making her an even better challenge; he’d have the girl every guy wanted in his hands including the girl Henry Bowers was currently infatuated with.

Patrick’s sick little game of making her his was no secret to Y/N, noticing the way he went out of his way to throw vile passes at her whenever his friends weren’t around and how his gaze hungrily took her in whenever she passed by him — mimicking the look a lion shot it’s future meal. It was a look that made her wish the hallway’s tiled floor would suck her in and take her far away from him, wishing she’d never have to be in the same vicinity as him ever again but that was near impossible.

Henry setting his sights on her not only made it harder to avoid Patrick but it made it far more difficult to remain under the radar since everyone knew Bowers had his eyes on her since the moment she stepped foot in the school; they just weren’t sure of the emotions behind his motives. To her, it was crystal clear what he wanted from her when he began cat calling her from his spot against his locker, his short-fuse always ticking when she would simply roll her eyes and continue walking away from him — unaware of the smile ghosting across the lips him and Patrick had dirty thoughts about when she was out of their sight.

As much as Henry Bowers wanted to ignore the way Patrick leered at the girl of his dreams like Y/N did, it was growing harder and harder when the thoughts that she might choose Patrick over him began crossing his mind. That petty insecure thought of having Hockstetter as competition fueled his frustration towards the girl ignoring him even more, causing him to have far more grumpy days than he’d like.

Though, those frustrating days were put to rest when he was rummaging through his mess of a locker for his knife, shutting the metal door once his search was done and revealing the face he’d think of whenever he got off at night waiting for him on the other side.

Pressing her mix textbooks and spiral journals closer to her chest in anticipation, Y/N flashed him a toothy smile and delivered a soft “Hi” in his direction. Henry froze in his shoes, not anticipating the girl’s sudden bravery and unsure of how to go about it; not one that’s particularly skilled in the female department, his friend’s not offering much help on their end as they were nowhere to be seen.

Unaware that one of his ‘friends’ actually was in the area, Henry went about the situation as best as he could manage, not noticing the daggers being shot at his back as Patrick watched the whole ordeal from the corner of the hall. Morbid thoughts of beating his friend to a pulp raced through his brain when he watched Y/N rip a sheet of lined paper from the glittery pink notebook and scrawl her number on it, handing it to Henry with a flirtatious bat of her eyelashes before turning on her heel.

Sucking in the inside of his cheek and biting it when Henry stuffed the note that belonged to him in his pocket, Patrick made it his goal of the day to bring it upon himself to remind Y/N who she actually belonged to. Once Henry was out of hall, probably heading off to the car since it dismissal, Patrick began following Y/N on her walk home with her friend; keeping a safe distance away from the gossiping pair.

“It’s good to have a little danger in your life every now and then.” Y/N laughed with her friend when she told her about who she gave her number to earlier, trying to convince her friend that it wasn’t as bad of an idea as she thought while they walked down the sidewalk together — unaware of the pair of dark eyes watching them from a few feet behind. “Plus a little makeout here and there isn’t so bad either.”

“It’s not only the fact that you went for Bowers of all people,” Lana, Y/N’s first friend at the school, scrunched her nose in disgust at Y/N’s taste in boys. “But you went for him when you know Patrick has a thing for you too, it’s like you’re asking for crazy psycho-boy drama in your life.” She exclaimed, using hand motions to further emphasize how reckless Y/N’s plan was; knowing that there would be no positive outcome with messing with that gang of boys.

Y/N shrugged, hooking her thumbs around the thick straps of her backpack and shooting her friend a knowing look. “We’ll hang out, we’ll makeout, and that’ll be it. Nothing more, nothing less.” Her words were spoken with such conviction that Lana almost believed her, almost, but she knew who Henry and Patrick were.

She knew Y/N was messing with deadly fire and was bound to get burned sooner or later, whether it be by Bower’s short temper or Hockstetter’s sickly ways.

“Alright but when it all blows up in your face, don’t you dare drag me into that crazy drama that’s gonna unfold.” Lana sighed in defeat and pointed an accusatory finger at her gal pal, knowing that Y/N’s freshness in the school didn’t allow her to fully realize who the Bowers’ gang was.

“That won’t be the only thing blowing up in my face.” Y/N shot her friend a suggestive smirk across her lip glossed lips once her brand new home came into view, raising her eyebrows before bursting out into laughter once she saw Lana’s disgusted expression painted across her pretty features.

“Gross.” Lana playfully pushed Y/N’s shoulder, not thankful for the visual image she got of her good friend and Henry Bowers together. “Be careful with him, with both of them.”

She sternly warned Y/N once more when they were a few steps away from her friend’s home, pulling her into a quick hug and feeling a cold front in her body when she thought she caught a glimpse of a familiar raven haired boy. Not being able to see it a second time, she shook her head at the stupid idea and smiled at her friend before parting ways.

“See ya!” Y/N called over her shoulder, fingers wrapping themselves around her black lanyard with her house keys and a hand waving goodbye to her friend. “Make sure to give me all the deets tomorrow!”

Upon entering her home, she was met with the familiar silence she always received after school, her parents always off at work. Kicking the door shut with her foot without locking the door, her first mistake of the night, she was eager to destress from school as she headed up to her room.

Lana’s words of caution rang in her head, ‘—with both of them’, the thought of double danger enticing her teenage hormones far more than it should. Tossing her backpack and lanyard to their designated corner of her room, Y/N headed over to her closet and began undressing from her school clothes in hopes of getting comfier but the figure looming at her doorway had other plans in mind.

Her jeans were barely pooling around her ankles when she felt a clammy hand fall over her mouth, the lipgloss providing a sticky barrier between her lips and the skin. Fingers played in between the strands of her hair as she felt the rough fabric of denim rubbing against the back of her exposed thighs, the cold touch of the metal from his belt buckle pressing against her lower back and his hot breath playing against the sensitive skin of her neck.

“It’s like you knew I was coming over, getting all ready for me to fuck you.” Patrick whispered in her ear, the sound of his voice causing her to squirm even more as his tongue began leaving a trail of saliva from her ear all the way down to her shoulder.

Y/N’s feelings grew conflicted as she tried to remind herself that this was not the boy she wanted, that she preferred having to take the direct route herself with Henry than having it taken on her like he was currently doing. Y/N’s body was betraying her, though, when she felt her back arch into his body as his hand moved from her hair to in between her thighs and his lips began leaving heavy kisses on her neck.

Shutting her eyes in a feeble attempt to shut out the pleasure he was giving her, she pushed her elbow back into his boner when his hand was inches away from her reaching the material of her underwear. Stumbling with an amused grin plastered on his face, the back of his hand wiped the saliva glazing his lips that were previously worshipping her skin as he looked down at the flustered half-dressed girl with intent to finish what he started — teaching her a lesson of who she belonged to.

“I swear to god if you don’t leave, I’ll call Henry right now and tell him that you’re here.” Y/N attempted her best to sound intimidating but it proved to be tough when you were standing in front of a boy who thrived on making your life hell. “He’ll kick your fucking ass.” She added once she noticed he wasn’t backing down, instead, his lanky figure was beginning to inch closer to her once again.

Y/N’s eyes glanced over at the pastel phone resting on the bedside table, remembering that Henry was due to call any moment and her situation wouldn’t sit well with him. The bedroom wall by her phone put an end to her small escape from Patrick, her body softly hitting the wall and forcing her to accept that her fate was in his hands now; despite this being her room and her home.

Eyes that could never match his amount of bad intentions met his oceanic ones that were deep in sin and misbehavior when he stood in front of her, his body towering over hers as his arm rested against the space above her and his hand aggressively cupped her face. His fingers pressed into her skin with a hostility that didn’t quite match the entertained smile on his lips as he forced her attention on him.

“I’ll tell Henry you begged me to fuck you, you little slut, and he won’t even think twice about putting you through some hell for ‘betraying him’.” Patrick threatened, enjoying the way her eyes widened at his words and her chest heaving up and down in anxiousness. “That kid is ruthless when it comes to things that he thinks belong to him. I think it has to do with his major daddy issues.”

“You wouldn’t.” Y/N breathed, not wanting to ruin her school life for herself so quickly; unaware that any sense of peace and fun at school was quickly stripped from her life when she decided to get involved with the boys, proving Lana’s words right. “You’re so fucking sick, Patrick.” She spat when he leered at her and innocently shrugged his shoulders at the idea of ruining her life, all because she gave Bowers her number.

Any statement lacking the sense of a threat escaping her lips was cut short when the shrill sound of her phone ringing filled the tense air, her gaze shifting over to Patrick as if asking for his permission to get the phone. Pushing her towards the phone with the hand placed on her chin, Patrick took a seat atop of the bedside table and next to the phone as she a hesitant hand on top of the phone, unsure if she should risk him saying anything into the phone to anger Henry.

“I’d suggest answering before it gets to a fourth ring, our little Henry isn’t the most patient guy in the world.” Patrick’s voice ripped her from the privacy of her thoughts, reminding her that the phone had already rung three times and she hadn’t picked it up yet.

“Hello?” Y/N nervously greeted the caller on the other end, keeping her watch on Patrick and twirling the cord of the phone with her index finger. “Henry, hey. Me? I’m not up to anything, what about you?”

Trying to sound calm and collected when danger was basically staring you right in the eye with a smile resembling the Cheshire Cat was proving to be far more difficult than she thought. Averting his gaze away from him, she hoped it would make the long awaited phone call go easier but it only made Patrick want to make it more difficult when she stripped him of her attention.

Patrick pushed himself off the wooden furniture and stepped back in front of her, aware that she couldn’t move away from him due to the phone cord being as little as his self-control. The way she spoke the other boy’s name with such glee in her tone infuriated him, his hands forcefully pushing her against the wall, the back of her head colliding with the bedroom wall with a hard thump and a pain-filled whine slipping out.

“Oh, I just tripped on a book, sorry. What were you saying about tonight?” Y/N saved her ass, quick to come up with an excuse for her the ‘ow’ the betrayed her and slipped out of her mouth.

Moving back to his previous position from a few minutes prior, Patrick laid his arm on the wall above her head, his free hand trailing up her inner thigh with a slowness that actually left her craving for him to speed up. Feeling his large hand curl around her upper thigh and squeeze, Y/N’s shaky breath hitched in the back of her throat.

“Y-Yeah, I’m totally up for it if you are, Henry.” Y/N’s sudden stuttering reminded Henry of the loser with the missing brother, any sign of the confident girl from the hallway gone and giving him the confidence boost he needed for himself as he gave her details for later.

Henry’s babbling about later was becoming irrelevant to her as Patrick pressed his slender fingers against her underwear, taking his time with each circular motion they made while his lips closed around the skin resting behind her ear lobe. Y/N’s grip around the curve of the plastic phone loosened when she felt him rob her off his heavenly touch, the hand between her thighs trailing around her lips as he slid two fingers in her mouth, coating them with her saliva before moving back between her legs.

“So, it’s a date?” Y/N interrupted Henry’s drawn out explanation on tonight’s events, the giddiness she felt earlier at the thought of hearing his voice on her phone diminishing each time Patrick’s nipped on the skin of her neck, the tip of his tongue trailing over the spot and towards the next with each nip.

“The guys will still be there so no but you can call it a date if you want.” Henry’s indifference towards a romantic date would’ve upset her earlier but now, with Patrick working on a hickey by her ear and his fingers sliding her underwear to the side, she didn’t seem to have a care in the world for Henry. “I know you’re not comfortable with Hockstetter so I could just not mention it to him, if you want.”

At the mention of his name, Patrick stopped working on the bruise he was giving her and waited for her to give what he deemed a correct response.

“Well…” Y/N teasingly trailed off, much to Patrick’s dismay but was quickly stumbling over a plea for Henry to reconsider when Patrick moved the free hand on the wall to her throat, his fingers quick to curl around her neck. “I actually don’t mind Patrick so it’s fine if he goes.”

“You sure?” Henry was confused by her sudden approval of the tall boy, vaguely remembering her mentioning how creepy she found him when they were talking in the hallway earlier.

Patrick’s fingers tightened around her throat when she took a second too long to reply to the boy on the other line, not wanting their facade to fall apart so easily. If anyone was going to be the bearer of news to Henry, it would be him and it would be face-to-face with a smug tone from him.

“Pa-“ What started off as a moan for the odd boy holding her down was cut off when she remembered she was on the phone, Patrick’s lips quirking up into a sick smirk at her almost slip up when he released her throat. “Patrick isn’t as bad as I thought, Henry, so it’s fine.” She weakly tried to explain, feeling his hand snake down to her side, gripping her hard enough to let her know he planned on leaving bruises on her body.

“What the hell is up with you, Y/L/N?” By now, Bowers was growing agitated by her strange behavior, a tiny part deep inside of him feeling as though it was his fault but the reality was much worse. “You’re acting weird as fuck right now.” His tone was terse and harsh, underlying times of insecurity there for anyone who cared to look.

“Sorry, Henry,” Y/N was quick to apologize, the feeling of Patrick’s fingers - coated in her spit - sliding in her with ease pushing her to end the conversation before she’d moan something she’d regret. “I’m just excited to see you is all, I mean it.” She was quick to choose something she knew would appeal to his bruised ego and she was right, his mood perked up immediately.

“Good, I’m picking you up in an hour.” The sound of Henry’s voice holding a grin in it made Patrick want to laugh, his demented brain already thinking of all the ways he’d rub it in his face that the girl wouldn’t even dream of being with him after he was done with her.

The click of the phone call ending was enough for Patrick to snatch the phone from her weak hold and slam it back into the receiver. His hand gripping onto her side quick to scoop her wrists in it and place them above her head, making her back arch as she craved for him to continue fingering her, his slender fingers going in nice and slow each time.

Moving from her neck to her soft lips, he pushed his lips against hers with an intensity that she could only label as animalistic, the insides of her lips pressing against her teeth. It wasn’t romantic or sweet by any means but it was good enough for the moment, her body more focused on the way he slid his fingers in an out of her than how romantic he was being with her.

“Patrick.” Y/N moaned his name between the fiery kisses, his lips parting from hers as he decided to take a look at his work, indulging in the sight of the girl’s shaking body beneath him; relishing in the fact at how fast he brought her down to him.

“That’s right. Say my name, not Bowers’. You’re mine, Y/N, all mine.” Patrick pulled the collar of her shirt down, attaching himself to the skin barely exposed by the wear of a shirt and beginning to leave his second hickey of the night, planning on it to be bigger than the last.

“Stop, he’s gonna see-“ Y/N protested but the idea of Henry seeing her that intimately just made him work faster on it, eager to crush the idea of those two ever being together. She quickly left the idea of stopping him when she felt that familiar sensation course through her body. “Shit.” She cursed under her breath when Patrick slid his fingers out of her, the material of her underwear sliding back into place and damp from how wet he left her.

Unwrapping himself from the shaking and bruised girl, he departed from him with eager thoughts of her breaking Henry’s heart later. “I’ll see you in an hour.” Patrick excused himself, shooting her only last satisfied glance before exiting her room.

I was going to squee about my space-cat but I just got shotgunned through the Chains of Harrow quest & subsequent orbiter thing so instead I’m going to spew my thoughts everywhere. I have too many emotions about this ok. WARNING: Massive story spoilers (for many quest lines), massive gameplay spoilers, massive worldbuilding spoilers, BASICALLY NOTHING BUT SPOILERS UP IN HERE. You probably don’t want to read this unless 1. you’re caught up on everything including 2. you dgaf and find me nattering about a game you don’t play interesting. (~2200 words.)

I. Gameplay/Mechanics

Chains of Harrow is VERY WELL DONE, jfc. I continue to be impressed by Warframe’s execution. Some previous quests weren’t quite ideal but this one... this one was on point.

(Shout-out to my game dev friend who does totally unrelated stuff and their ANGUISHED GROAN when I asked how they’d do the one bit with moving the audio around in their not-Warframe engine; they stared into Hell as they contemplated it. “But Unreal engine apparently lets you do it just fine.” It’s so fun to be reminded that one engine’s effortless task is another engine’s “the only thing that eclipses the suffering this would require is your hubris”.)

There were spoopy screen effects, not that I’m surprised– already seen plenty of demonstrations of what they can do when I get flashbanged or fade in/out of a menu. One section has you chasing directional audio aka heading towards wherever the sound is coming from. (This was the worst section for me, I had to pause three times to get my panic wrangled.) The talking-heads approach to story, combined with the setting, combined with a few lite-cutscenes & one interactive segment... was actually fucking perfect. I usually feel like the exposition-dumps are somewhat contrived and aggravating, but here I was SOLD.

If I had any criticism, it’d be that the spoopy starts wearing off like 1/3 of the way in and just keeps eroding until the end isn’t spoopy at all. It didn’t feel like a deliberate tone-shift, just that they ran out of jumpscare (which is what the spoopy is 100% made of) and didn’t really replace it with anything. I don’t consider it a drawback though... if it had actually been scary the whole way through I’d be a gibbering jelly. Also everything else going on is so fantastic that I prefer the lack of distraction.

I did laugh when the main combat section goes Ghostbusters: you have to trap a spoopy in a box you toss on the floor, complete with a glowy beam trapping said spoopy. Mild grumble because I wasted a dozen traps before I googled wtf to do in that section (hint: APPLY BULLETS TO BAD THING) but fine, if I hadn’t been accidentally lied to I would probably have tried that first instead of faffing around.

Final “boss” fight was indeed kind of a bear but I was warned beforehand that I was gonna get punched out like forty times so when I only got punched out thrice it was like all my namedays had come at once! HOLY FUCK DON’T DO IT BEFORE YOU’VE DONE THE GARA QUEST THO & GOTTEN AN OPERATOR AMP ON CETUS. This quest predates all that BUT THE AMP IS GOOD. EVEN A BAD AMP IS BETTER THAN NO AMP. So... hot tip, get your little shit a little piece of shit and be thrilled when you can actually kill the boss fight adds in under 12 hours.

Ok no I have one true criticism: BLOOD ISN’T RED WAX, WHY WERE THE BLOODY MESSAGES ON THE WALL THAT COLOR. Actually they were... really 3D... ... ...maybe it WAS wax? Where the fuck did the spooperson get so much red wax for writing creepy messages?

II. Story

So the story is that you get a haunted I mean hecked up transmission, it’s spooky; you go to a fucked-up empty ship and find one Red Veil chick just hanging out with her cat. She says a lot of baffling things and then forty ex-Red-Veil zombies/ghosts/possessed assholes try to murder you, ineptly. Ok maybe they’re less inept if they’re not going in ultra-slow-motion. (My god, I will never stop being happy that Frost Prime was my first frame. So good and useful when I’m going into shit blind.)

You haul RVC (Red Veil Chick) out of there and plunk her ass down in the Steel Meridian camp because I guess the factions like each other enough for casual favors like that. She says some more barely-less-confusing shit and very earnestly (there’d be dewey eyes and heaving bosoms if she wasn’t wearing a full-body-inculding-head suit) begs you to go find some relic. Off you go to another fucked-up empty ship! UNNECESSARILY CREEPY WHISPERS lead you to said relic, which was the thing Rell focused on for soothing because most sensory stimulation was too much for him. Wait, what? And then ASSHOLE MCINVINCIBLE tries to stick his hand up your ass like a puppet and if you’re me you sprint in circles for 30 seconds crying while the NPC frantically tries to get you out.

You go back to RVC and she does a seance. It works. To summarize/paraphrase including story bits revealed further into the quest line, Rell was one of the Tenno who got shunned out of the gaggle even before they all got Tenno’d. Apparently this put him in a position to discover what the fuck is in the Void, at which point he had his meatsack body killed so his mind(/soul/whatever) could be chained to his specific ‘frame, leaving him awake/conscious to keep doorstoppering the badbadnotgood, even while the other Tenno were off snoozing per the Lotus’ plans. A line of RVCs (Red Veil Chicks) were in on this and dedicated themselves to... looking after him, inasmuch as you can look after someone who shoveled themself into a robot that’s been chained up somewhere it’ll never see the light of day. They could talk to him anyways– I guess they were mostly there to keep him from going bonkers and maybe intervene if anything ever went wrong.

Anyways, that’s all fine right up until it isn’t; RVC & the Lotus determine that his transference fucked up and fragmented so you need to go Ghostbusters the creepy phantoms of this guy’s psyche. Collect them all while dodging ASSHOLE MCINVINCIBLE (and a smattering of forgettable mooks– fuck off Infested, I don’t care if it’s your ship) and RVC thanks you/tearfully asks you to take them back to where his ‘frame rests so he can die because THAT’S ENOUGH SUFFERING FOR ONE PERSON THANKS.

Nothing gets to be easy, not even that, so when you find the ‘frame and start snapping its chains it wakes up. RVC has about five seconds to go “thaT’S NOT RELL” while your little shit self scurries behind a pillar before boss fight! Red Veil operatives (except dead or mind controlled or who knows what) try to punch you out while some kind of awful red glowing tear pops in and out to fireball you. But eventually you snap all the chains and yaaaay Rell gets his eternal rest. (I’m not crying, you’re crying.)

III. Meta Story/Worldbuilding

It’s SUCH A THING to me that RVC casually knows what the Tenno are. I mean, ok, makes sense because the RVCs were so involved with Rell, buT LIKE. MAN. NOBODY ELSE KNOWS. THE “KIND OF HAVE A CLUE” PEOPLE STILL DON’T KNOW MORE THAN “IF YOU DISSECT A WARFRAME YOU WILL NOT FIND ANYTHING THAT EXPLAINS WHAT THE TENNO ARE”. Fuck, I think the RVC even dresses down the Lotus over it a la “fuck u, u say they’re ur kids but u suck and u never knew about Rell”.

They completely skate right past RVC setting up shop in the hyper-secret Steel Meridian HQ. “Yeah, no big, me and my ouija board are gonna hang out at the secret base of a completely different faction, which happens to be located like three centimeters from the balls of the genocidal maniacs they defected from. Sorry you keep seeing my kavat in the background of my transmissions.” W h a t . ?

...ok, side thoughts out of the way: OH FUCK OH FUCKOHFUCKOHFUCK THE MAN IN THE WALL

As of this point in Warframe’s existence (out of game I mean) they have done... not the WORST job defining the Void, but of course a lot of it hasn’t been written out. (Both because good storytelling and also because the writers probably haven’t gotten that far. :p) Things we do know:

The ship of people who got stuck in there was (afaik) 100% casualties among all the adults. Fuckers all went feral apparently? But the kids lived. Although they came out weird and dangerous (understatement). People do still go into the Void atm, generally via opening a portal on another planet. People... don’t always come OUT of the Void, although presumably they come back out often enough for the major powers to feel like it’s not a waste of time to ransack that shit. I don’t know where they stuck this lore but iirc there’s some kind of horrible THING in there that basically shoves some kind of hijacking device into you, if it catches you, and then it controls you forever. (IDK if dying gets you out of it or if it can just be like HA HA NICE TRY MEATPUPPET and get you back up. With how this setting is, could go either way.) This is why all the Void tilesets have a variety of mob types: the THING has been hijacking the assortment of factions that wander in. Like I said, people don’t always come back out during those expeditions.

So the first badbadnotgood hint I personally played through was at the end of The War Within (Space Lil’ Shit 2 Electric Boogaloo, Now With More Tremors). It’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it brief, but while Space Dad is congratulating you, your Operator suddenly stares into the camera, eyes turning into voids, and a creepy voice taunts you, something about “don’t forget what you owe me kid” or the like. It’s a single line, but the way the camera snaps around (complete with some fucking over-the-top visual effects) & Space Dad catches your arm while you shake it off... thaaaaaat’s not a trivial hallucination.

Anyway. Among other things, during the Chains of Harrow the RVC is very fucking explicit about how Rell was grappling with/cockblocking a specific “vast and indifferent” entity that lives in the Void. Offhandedly, The Lotus dismisses this while mentioning that basically all Tenno have mentioned or claimed similar things. (RVC keeps on insisting.) Right before Rell finally dies, he asks who’s gonna take over his job if he stops, and the RVC coos that all the other Tenno will have to help now.

I have been told by one friend– without checking around, so could be wrong, but– that once you’ve finished the Chains of Harrow you’ll periodically get jumpscared on your ship by a creepy asshole who looks identical to your Operator, but has a different (asshole) voice. Said friend randomly turned around once and what looked like their Operator was sitting on their nav console. And taunted them. Said friend sprinted down to the transference pod to make sure their Operator was in the right place– they were– but was pretty freaked out by it.

Obviously, we don’t have much more detail at this point, but uH. This is not painting a rosy picture of the shit lurking out there in the Void. To me this is pointing towards some kind of extradimensional horror that you really don’t want to draw the attention of... and we’ve gone and done that. Possibly even that the Tenno were lucky to scamper away the first time after it got to play with an entire ship of people (some guessing there, but given its asshole moves so far...) and going anywhere near the Void after that was about as wise as standing on a hilltop in a thunderstorm while double-dog-daring Zeus.

I’m so excited to find out how fucked we are.

Given what the orbiter shit involved, the answer is probably very, and also creatively. BALLAS? WHAT?? WHAT?????

IV. Further Thoughts

I really would love to hear the perspectives of autistic folk. That said, I... more or less liked how the Chains of Harrow handled Rell? The quest established that he was very different; the other kids-eventually-Tenno ignored him, while his mother loved him (I’m open to other interpretations but everything I heard pointed to sincerity). He had the intelligence and agency to deal with badbadnotgood, and while the RVC had a certain maternal vibe she was pretty damn reverent when discussing what he’d done/was doing. Also (maybe most importantly in my reckoning) he didn’t get a happy ending, but he succeeded at what he was doing. By this setting’s standards that’s a rosier conclusion than almost anyone else gets.

Now that I’m thinking of it, I’m racking my brains for any parties that have known the truth of the Tenno and been kindly disposed towards them without getting all maternal/paternal. I’m coming up blank. (The fuck is with this setting and everyone treating them like kids btw? All indications are that they stopped aging so they look like young teens, sure, but all indications are ALSO that they’ve lived awhile time, even excluding their cryosleep! I’m willing to believe a certain amount of “their brain maturity stalled along with the rest of their aging so they have the hardware of a 13yo” but that wouldn’t undo living long enough to form a small civilization. SOME parts of teenagers not being like adults are hardware, but a lot of it is pure lack of life experience, which the Tenno have in spades by now. Also, you know, THEY PSYCHICALLY POWER SPACE NINJA ROBOTS, SHOW SOME RESPECT.)

The Week in Anime (Christmas Edition!)

Salutations and welcome to a special edition of The Week in Anime! With my winter break starting, I’ve been able to catch up on all of the anime and now I have stuff to say about them, both good and bad (fortunately this time, it’s mostly good). Because there’s around 3-4 weeks of stuff to write about, I’m gonna revert back to my old style of TWiA for this week. That is, I’m gonna write a blurb for every show, and not give out any awards. And since most of the shows ended this week, it’s also kinda nice since I can talk about the show as a whole. Thus, there will be spoilers. That’s kinda self-explanatory, plus I usually use spoilers in my posts... but no matter, still nice to have a warning. So let’s start off this show with the usual...

The News Corner

Since it’s been a while since I had one of these posts, there’s bound to be a lot of anime news that I can talk about. Maybe important stuff like Shokugeki no Soma getting a “fourth season” in Spring, Boku no Hero Academia’s third season airing during the Spring, etc. But here’s what I think is the most important anime news of the past few weeks:

Yes friends, Back Street Girls. Read the synopsis for yourself, since I don’t think I can do it justice by describing in my own words. Truly, a pinnacle in anime.

Ok seriously, this is... something. Something weird AF. But I’m not gonna lie, it got my attention. Obviously since I’m writing about it, but it did. So much so that I ended up reading the translated chapters of the manga. And I have to say... it’s not that bad. There definitely is the merit to the complaint that the three dudes have the same personality and thus would probably be better as one person, but they’re different enough that it wasn’t too much of a concern in the manga.

In its core this whole thing is a gag comedy. I don’t expect it to be deep with its topic, and neither should you whenever this show airs. Definitely gonna be an interesting show to watch when it does come out.

All righty, with that, let’s start the rankings/blurbs starting with my AOTS:

Rankings:

1 (0). Shokugeki no Soma S3 (8/10) COMPLETE

So when I heard that this show was gonna be one cour instead a standard two cour, I shared the same opinions as the thread commenters of /r/anime: “no”. But after watching the last episode, I have to say the season ended on a really good note. Soma sharing the info that Joichiro was his dad to Azami and Erina was a nice cliffhanger to the future events I don’t know much about, but heard meh things about.

Disregarding the future though, this season was miles better than the second season. It brought back the nice balance of intense cooking battles and relaxed slice-of-life moments that made the first season so fun to watch, something the second season lacked until the last few episodes with the Stagiaire Arc. The biggest issue has to be the animation, something I didn’t notice until I saw it being mentioned on discussion threads. At first I dismissed those claims, saying that all anime was like that and that people were being their circle-jerky selves. But I went back to the first season and yeah, I admit it got worse. There was a lack of action-y moments in the third season which were replaced with panning shots. Now I don’t think this is a huge issue, because let’s be honest the animation isn’t a big draw in Shokugeki: it’s the nice-looking food and the explanations about the nice-looking food. And this season delivered on those fronts, making it a super fun watch as long as I had something to eat/wasn’t hungry. Because otherwise I suffer from watching good food being made/explained while wanting said food, and that’s not fun.

Anyway, overall Shokugeki S3 gets a 8/10 from me. I would say I’m excited for the next season, but based on comments from manga readers I’m not expecting too much from the next season... though I would recommend the show if you haven’t watched it, since the first season is in my top 10 favorite anime and this season’s looking like my AOTY.

2 (+1). Just Because! (8/10) [11/12]

Mmm that’s good stuff. Most anime nowadays just are stuff that I watch and move on from. But with this show, it’s been both a really nice slice-of-life/drama/romance/kinda comedy(?) that’s brought out a lot of nostalgic and comfy moments. It’s rare for a show to get me so emotionally invested, but when it does you know something’s going right.

Since the last episode is airing next week, I don’t want to go too much into detail about the show in general yet. So I’ll just talk about this week’s episode. It reminded me a lot of the time I was applying for colleges. A painful experience, yet for some reason I felt a warm nostalgia through the whole time watching this. Plus it was a really nice set-up episode for the finale: we get Natsume passing, Komiya winning an award, and Eita maybe passing (it was kinda ambiguous). Who will win in this love triangle? Who will end up with who? Will anybody win? Why did I ask the same question three times? Find out next week in the next episode of Dragon Ball Z!

I have to give credit to Pine Jam (the studio making this): all of this is amazing when you think about how much delays the show’s been going through. It seems like every other week the episode is delayed on Amazon Strike even when it aired on time in Japan (a sign that they just finished the episode). Yet the animation hasn’t taken a nosedive in quality and it’s kept a steady consistency in all aspects. Hopefully the finale ends the show on a high note because so far it’s been a fun ride.

3 (+2). Net-juu no Susume (6/10) COMPLETE

If there’s one word to sum up this show, it’s AWKWARD. But you know what, that’s totally fine. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s that the last few episodes focused on the real life relationship of our two main characters, Moriko and Sakurai, who were some pretty awkward kids.

Before I go deeper into that, let me talk about the show as a whole. The first half of it was a nice “romance” with minimal interruptions. Towards the middle, the show faltered a bit for me with Koiwai become more of a presence and that weird gray area when Moriko and Sakurai were finding out the truth about each other and their online characters. Then we get that end with the awkward. The last episode especially, though I enjoyed how cute the whole thing was... minus the washing machine cucking (and the kids in the end to a degree).

I know that’s probably what most people were disappointed in: nothing definite happened between Moriko and Sakurai. I was a bit bothered by it too, until I realized it was probably the best ending for the two. After all, they’re two people who don’t have experience with love or people in general. Why would you expect them to suddenly confess their feelings or even straight up kiss? It’s a bit unreasonable to think that, and so the hand-holding thing at the end was a good enough confirmation that yes, they are in a relationship.

Disclaimer: I haven’t watched the 11th episode/special yet. I wanted to finish the show and write my blurb before doing so. So maybe something more might happen... though based on the MAL rating, doesn’t look like it.

If there’s one thing that did bother me, it was the number of sheer coincidences that had to happen for everything to fall into place. I mean I know it’s anime but still... it’s a bit too much. I can’t get over the fact that they met not only once, but twice in sepearte MMOs. That’s about as good a chance as me getting 5 UR cards in a single 10+1 pull in School Idol Festival. Which never happens. I think.

Anyway, overall the show was pretty nice, albeit a bit forgettable (since I’ve already forgotten a lot about it already and it hasn’t even been a week since I finshed it). 6/10, would recommend if you like a good romance.

4 (-2). Juuni Taisen (6/10) COMPLETE

“I mean it ended the way I thought it did.”

That’s if we’re talking about the battle royale aspect of the show itself. Because the actual anime didn’t end with just that, but rather spent its last episode with Nezumi’s wish, which turned out to be a pretty lackluster end to a show that in hindsight, wasn’t as great as I thought it was. Now that sounds harsh, but I had this show rated pretty highly for most of the season. Overall the show wasn’t bad, but there were some questionable decisions such as spending two episodes on the twins (whose backstories weren’t particularly interesting) and not having Rabbit’s backstory. Though I guess not having Rabbit’s backstory works with his personality. But I was curious to see why he’s like that, which is something we’ll never find out.

There were a lot of good moments in the show, though. Most of the backstories of the characters were pretty interesting, and made what sounded like a cliche battle royale into a more interesting study of characters with differing personalities and techniques battling each other. I love competitions as much as the next guy, so seeing how each warrior matched up against each other really triggered the inner sports fan in me. So much so that if I wasn’t into the competition, I probably wouldn’t have liked this show as much. Overall a solid 6/10, would recommend for those into battle royales and interesting character stories.

5 (+1). Love Live! Sunshine!! 2nd Season (6/10) [12/13]

You know at this point, I accepted that idol shows aren’t for me. Their whole focus of “the power of friendship and miracles” really isn’t my thing, and honestly it’s my fault for not realizing that sooner. Now don’t get me wrong -- I’m still very much in idol hell. Just... in different ways via the music and mobile game (which I should really stop spending money on...).

Now to the actual show critique part. Taking the above statement into account, this was probably the better Love Live Sunshine season. But as of right now, I’m putting this as the lowest ranked show in the Love Live series. Something about the number of cheesy episodes just really got to me, culminating in the penultimate episode with the most cheese so far in Love Live.

Okay, I’m gonna stop talking about cheese and actually use real words. There were some really great episodes, which happened to be the character-focused episodes. My favorite definitely is the YohaRiko episode with the dog, with a close second being the Dia episode. Episodes like those still have good cheesiness to them, but the cheese is character-based and more relatable instead of “let’s shine” and other buzzwords. Plus it adds good depth to the characters: Dia went from my second-worst girl to right in the middle of the pack. Riko went to the top 3, and Yoshiko/Yohane, well she was already #1.

Speaking of characters, there were definitely a few that got shafted hard in terms of screentime and character development. You is definitely an example: even though the later episodes have focused on her relationship with Chika, I still wouldn’t know much about her if I didn’t read her profile-stuff on the wiki (I was bored okay). Like the fact she’s a Olympic-level high diver. Did you know that? I did. Maru’s another example of this, though that’s more getting reduced to memes which honestly a lot of characters in LL have been prone to. I do have to give props for developing the third-years though, because I can now see Mari as more than just “Shiny” and “It’s Joke”. We can all agree though: Chika least best girl. Everything the girl says is cheesy AF.

Having said all of this, if a third season were to happen (or a movie, given this season might be the last one), I’d still watch it no problem. Truly this is the power of idol hell.

We’ll see how the last episode goes, because it might just be the end of Aqours... :(

6 (+3). Osake wa Fuufu ni Natte kara (6/10) [12/13]

I think this is the first time a show I rated a 3 or lower rose back up to a good grade. But that’s what happens when you focus on not having your alcoholic main character be drunk, but rather have nice moments where they aren’t drunk. Because it feels cheap to me when they’re acting cutesy while drunk. Almost like it’s fake in a way. The last two episodes in particular were really nice because they were the backstory in how Chisato and Sora met, which was actually pretty cute. More episodes like that please.

7 (+1). Blend S (5/10) COMPLETE

Sigh... this was an interesting one. Let me just say this right now: the “relationship” between Dino and Maika was the one factor in ruining the show for me. Yeah, the fanservice was pretty iffy, but if the romance wasn’t a thing I would’ve enjoyed the show a lot more.

I loved the idea of different personas in a maid cafe type of thing. It reminds me a lot of my favorite channel on Youtube, Cow Chop. They play up their bits in a “role” for most videos, but in their podcasts and other miscellaneous stuff, they’re their real selves which is refreshing to see. Because their bits and roles, while funny in doses, would be horrible if it was their real personality. Which is how I feel about Blend S. If the characters’ personalities were actually their roles, the show would be annoying as heck. But because it’s just a role, it’s fun to see how different they are compared to their actual selves. How Maika unintentionally becomes sadistic. How Kaho is actually the nicest character in the show. How Mafuyu is actually the most savage character in the show. How Miu is... kinda the same actually. And how Hideri is... exactly the same.

...Oh. Never mind.

All that would’ve made this one of my favorites, but that romance though. It just really bothers me. Now I know it doesn’t bother a lot of people, and that’s fine. But I’m just not about the weird age gap. I’m not saying I hate age gaps in general, just that when the gap starts with a high school girl, it’s a bit questionable. This may sound shallow, but if Dino was a bit younger or Maika a bit older, I would be totally fine with it.

Speaking of that, having Maika be older (say 19 or 20) would make a lot of sense in the context of the show. A girl struggling to look for a job so she can study abroad: still makes sense if she’s college-aged, and relationship is ok-hands for me.

Disregarding the relationship, the characters were fun. Yes, even Hideri, though I think it really helps that the VA for the character is the same VA for Nico of Love Live fame. Really got the obnoxious idol character down pat, plus her deeper male voice was really well done. Sasuga Nico.

One last thing: the OP is pretty bomb. Yes, I know how meme’d the first few seconds of it got, but watch the rest of the opening. It’s very fun, reminiscent of the Working OPs (which this show shares some similarities with in other areas).

So with all this said, 5/10 would maybe recommend if you like moe shows. Also if you can disregard the Dino/Maika thing, which I see a lot of people are anyways... SMILE

8 (-1). Animegataris (4/10) COMPLETE

So... what the actual baloney did I watch? Seriously, that went off the rails after a certain point, that point being the festival arc. I have so many questions that were left unanswered and just brushed under the rug with the explanation that “the anime world and real world are being combined”. Like... really?

Confusion aside, the show’s only nice aspect was the meta with its sick anime references, both with the industry and the fandom. A modern version of Genshiken in a way. The “namedrops” were pretty fun and the explanations for some of the industry norms were the best parts of the show for me. Unfortunately, that all went downhill after the first half of the season as the show went full meta and went towards the “combining worlds” plotline that just ended up confusing me. Though I do admit the finale of the show was nice, albeit a bit lackluster compared to the WTF-levels of the few episodes before it.

But just because a show is meta doesn’t mean it’s good. At the end of the day, this show just crammed references and meta without much consideration for the characters or the story, which were both somewhat underdeveloped.

Off topic: one thing that really bothered me was the whole thing with Yui fanservice right before the OP for the first nine episodes (which continued even towards the last scene of the show. So I was right that something would happen with that. It’s just that the thing was just an OP with only Yui (Just Yui). Now that would be fine if she had something to do with the events of that episode, but she didn’t. So... WHY. WHY DID THEY DO THAT. SERIOUSLY. I’M SO CONFUSED AND I’M SCREAMING NOW SEND HELP.

That’s basically how Animegataris made me feel during its latter half. The “wao how META” doesn’t work for me in this case, and so I leave it with an unsavory rating and a “don’t watch this unless you like sick anime references and meta AF plot.” 4/10.

So before we end, I know I said no awards, but there is a little one I wanted to mention:

The “Red Flags” On Hold Show of the Week: Pingu in the City

It’s not that the show itself is bad. But... I don’t know, I don’t really have the motivation to watch the show. That’s usually how these shows end up on hold: I lose motivation. Maybe I’ll watch it again sometime in the future. Maybe not. Maybe I get to the 100 other shows on my PTW list.
