I'm not all that excited about it, and I'll probably avoid looking at the list if I can help it. I know I'll see it somewhere eventually though!

Let me be clear though: any writers that are excited for this, and who can't wait to write these prompts... I love that for you! These are just my thoughts on the matter.

This just makes me dread the future of the fandom becoming more and more hardline about certain tropes and ships. Because while I love the guy's work, that is kinda how this always goes when creators make these comments.

I also don't want to think about the writers reading our fics if I'm completely honest. Like, the thought that he or the other writers (or even the VAs) might read our fics gives me immense paranoia and activates my impostor syndrome like nothing else.

I'm especially worried about this fandom becoming even more obsessed with what's "correct canon" than it already is, and I find that such a fascinating turn for a game with so many branching paths. Disappointing, but fascinating. Yeah I have my own favorite details and endings and such, but I'm a nobody so what I like affects precisely nobody. He is the authority for this character, so when he suggests tropes or ideas I can almost guarantee they will become de facto canon; there is a stark difference.

And let me be clear — I'll stand by this stance even if what I write happens to align with what he posts.

the more i think about it the more i don’t hate this change....... aemond can still be the aemond from the book after b&c but feel like a human being and not a caricature this time, dragons exemplify “absolute power corrupts absolutely” in the most literal sense, and it parallels the scene where aemond’s eye was cut out in the saddest way -- neither attacker intended for what happened to occur but luke brought a knife to their first encounter and aemond brought the largest dragon in the world to their last. they were both set against one another because of their parents’ squabbles. (to complete the parallel, i would have liked it more if the eye incident had turned alicent against rhaenyra for good, because this one will turn rhaenyra against alicent.) and aemond’s face of absolute shock at the end is a reminder to everyone that this isn’t a game anymore, it’s war.

i think if it had been only this one “whoopsie” instigating event then everyone would have appreciated it more but unfortunately they’ve repeated this plot device of major events being accidental throughout the season and we’re all tired of it now

for the longest time I saw people tear sotsugou apart, specifically talking about how "it redeemed Teppei and had Satoko lie about the abuse!" as if it was some godawful "don't believe victims/what if the abuser was the real victim all along!" message that shits on the original story. finally got to watch it for myself. it actually turned out to be one of the most realistic and resonant portrayals of retraumatization/revictimization I've seen. and not only are those Not the messages, that summary is an inaccurate oversimplification of the situation, and it doesn't backtrack on the themes or Satoko's arc at all but reinforces the point that it made. OK
