Headcanons Format, All Relations with the Reader are Platonic (Frank and Eddie, however, are in a romantic relationship!)

When you first moved into the neighbourhood, your affinity for curiosity and lack of self-preservation quickly landed you onto Frank Frankly’s radar.

From scrapes knees to splintered hands, being stung by a bee, or getting stranded in a tree— your curiosity led you to many troubling situations. All of which Frank would march up to aid you out of with gentle lecturing.

“Neighbour, I am aware I told you of Bumble bees being one of the friendliest types of bees, but that does not mean grab them??”

You leave him in a confused mess of how you even end up in half of the situations you do. He ends up ranting (lovingly) about this to his darling partner, Eddie Dear.

“Oh-! The new neighbour? I didn’t know you two we’re friends.” He’d happily chirp to Frank, who was coddled up by his side.

“We are, yes! But they’re— like- agh-! Like an overexcited puppy!! I found them trying to pick up a centipede today!! A centipede!”

Do not be mistaken, Frank only raves because he cares! His extravagant expression of concern is how he shows he cares, along with picking you up after you fell into a river and drenched yourself. He isn’t truly angry! Just worried BAHA

“Awhah! I’m sure it isn’t too bad, butterfly.” Eddie would laugh cheerily, giving his partner’s hand a reassuring squeeze. “Maybe you could introduce me to them? Maybe I can help.”

And this, my dear reader, was how you got properly introduced to Eddie Dear.

To help you explore a bit (in a safer way than running through the surrounding forest), Eddie would take you on his paper runs— introducing you to all the neighbours.

Sometimes, he’d hold your hand on these runs— mainly just to get you to follow! He had quickly discovered you had a tendency to wobble off wherever you pleased, though you didn’t seem to realize half the time— leading to a few stumbles apologies when you eventually found him again. So, his solution was just to gently hold your hand as you two went on the routes!

.. He’d then buy you a treat from Howdy’s afterwards. He enjoys spoiling people!! But, ah, sugar rushes.

“.. Why would you let them eat so much chocolate?” Frank would ask, raising a brow as you ricocheted off the walls nearby.

“..They looked really happy about it.” He’d reply, with a nervous smile— soon laughing a bit at Frank’s soft sigh and playful eye roll.

“If they end up in a hole, it’s your fault, sweetheart.”

“That’s fine-!!”

Overall, it didn’t take the two long to start behaving somewhat parent-like towards you, more than they already had.

Frank would check you over for injures and plaster you in bug-themed bandaids, along with reading you “stories” from his books (and sometimes an actual story book).

He was a lot more reserved than Eddie, leading to most activities done with him being rather tame ones.

.. you could sometimes chase him around, though. Which, albeit he wouldn’t admit it, he does find fun in. Kind of like how people go to haunted houses for fun; he gets hunted in a house. /lhj

Eddie, meanwhile, would play with you a lot! He’d take you on walks of the town, and help you explore the place in a way that doesn’t have Frank screaming in worry at the end of the day.

He’s the classic “wanna play catch?” kind of person, to be honest, leading to a lot of playing ball and running around.

Both of them care about you very much! But still respect the fact you, very much, aren’t a genuine child and respect you like a friend. Because you are! You’re their friend!

But to say they don’t fret over you like parents would be a lie. BAHA!!

Oh, absolutely 😈 He 100% annoys the hell out of his partners, but it really is just part of his love language and really the only way he knows how to get attention! He's an attention whore fs (a term of endearment, of course <3)

How He Gets Attention

💠Being annoying and pouty is the only way he really knows how to communicate and how to get attention 🥲 He means well! Really! But that's not to say it can't get on your nerves sometimes.

💠But in a way it is cute. He just loves your love, and surely you love to love him! And any attention is good attention, right? You might have a different opinion on that, but luckily his ways of getting your attention are mostly harmless

💠Most of it is physical. He's touchy-feely anyway, but he acts like a poor housecat that just neeever gets attention ever 🙄 If you aren't somehow touching him, he's going to pout about it. But rest assured he will not only let you know, but will also take matter into his own hands

💠Kinda random, but in any type of setting he tends to mindlessly play with the hem of your shirt. There's usually nothing sexual about it, but sometimes the way he brushes over your skin might get you a little bothered 😉 Lectures, dinners, or even when you're both stuck in a crowd, he just pulls and twirls at the bottom of your shirt. If it's tucked or maybe not even a shirt, he'll still pick and pinch at the fabric, or play with your sleeve instead. At this point it might be becoming part of an anxious tic, but as long as it doesn't bother you too much he just finds solace in knowing your there ❤ and he just likes knowing he's being slightly annoying about it but not enough to be told off. Enough to keep your attention on whatever you were doing, but you're still well aware that he's there too!

💠If you have classes together, he's probably always messing with you, whether it be during lecture or when you're doing homework in bed. Oh, you're actually paying attention and doing your work? Where was all this attentiveness yesterday 😠 He can't do much in class (much to your relief), but he might still doodle in the very center of the paper you were using for notes, or keep muttering jokes that might be pretty funny and you have to literally keep a hand over your mouth. If he's feeling a little frisky he may try to play footsie with you, which may sometimes become just straight up kicking each other to see who will stop first 😭 If he's feeling a little sweeter (especially if you've been down recently or just got onto him for being distracting in class), he may hold your hand and/or play with your fingers. You may even get a little smooch to the back of your hand 😘

💠If you're doing homework at a café or something, he still can't get in to much, but homework and studying is usually done in someone's bed, whether you're both working or just one. I'm sure you can imagine all the ways he could distract you here... He has a lot more room and privacy to beg for attention, and can be a lot more creative in his efforts to get your eyes on him. He may throw a pencil your way that so perfectly leaves a skid mark right across your paper, or might throw balls of wadded up paper. Toss them back and he'll honestly be ecstatic! If you're doing work, but he has nothing to do, he may just sneakily inch closer and closer until his head is in your lap, even if he's smooshed into your textbook! He's bored! He's lonely! Just play with his hair or brush your thumb up and down his nose 🥺 If that doesn't work, he may sigh oh-so-sadly until you're at least forced to ask him what's wrong, and he'll just look at you with hurt puppy eyes that surely no one could resist! At least give him a little kiss on the head!

💠If he's really desperate, he's not afraid poke the bear-- literally! There's a specific spot around your waist somewhere that he's found where you very dramatically jolt away every time he pokes it, or maybe you're just really ticklish. Your surprised yelp is cute, and if you slap at his hand it gives him an excuse to start a playfight! And by playfight, he really just means flopping on top of you and forcing you to cuddle with him 😌 and you can't escape when he's directly on top of you 😇

💠If it’s snowing and you’re either still in bed or maybe you don’t want to go outside, this sneaky bastard will either scoop up some snow and just press it into your neck, or he will actually make a snowball and throw it at you. It’s just water, at least, but very very cold water 🤧🥶 At least when you’re chasing him down the hall he has your attention? He can warm you up later to make up for it 😉

💠Same thing if you're on the beach. A quiet moment may be ruined by the sudden splash of chilly ocean water on your legs! Honestly, you're pretty sure he just likes messing with you

💠If you're asleep he usually tries not to bother you, but sometimes he can't help it! Not only does he want cuddles all the time, but you're also really cute and honestly you're looking a little too peaceful 😈 And he may just be having trouble sleeping :( If he's bored and just wants company, he may just say your name and pet names over and over until you wake up, and if you're a deep sleeper he may tease his fingers up your spine or comb them through your hair. He does try to be gentle and loving about it! And if you do start to stir and sweetly lean into is touch, you'll be met with a face smooshing against yours regardless of your tired groan of protest. If he just wants your arms around him, and the above attempts also don't work, he'll just lift your arm and tuck himself in against your chest ❤ But sometimes he just... likes being a brat. He may just mess with you and poke at you until your rolling over to get away from him, but now he's sad and he's just going to curl up against your back until you roll back over and hold him 🥺

💠If he's really feisty that day, and you aren't entirely asleep, you may take a pillow or stuffed animal to the head. Hey, it's another excuse for him to playfight with you if you fight back! Or he may hide in your neck when you tell him off. It still ends up in cuddles, so he wins either way 😌

💠Speaking of really feisty, he may also just bite you. Sometimes he's sweet in getting your attention! He might keep pecking your shoulders and cheeks until your giggling and finally kiss him back, but sometimes he'll just nip your arm or your shoulder (or your neck). Usually it's hard to ignore those, but if you can, he'll go in a little harder and very innocently kiss the hand pushing his mouth away from you ;)

💠But it's not entirely about him! Not always, not exactly. Sure, maybe getting you annoyed is cute or funny or means he can act all cute and apologetic and play victim. He's acting out for a reason, you know! But getting you annoyed or mad means he gets to apologize and calm you down and play hero (even though he did the damage, but, whatever). It does work! You can't really stop him from hugging you and saying he's sorry. And surely even you can't have some fun with a little play fighting!

Hello! May I ask for an emergency request please? You can take your time to write about it so don't worry about me!!

Well I have abusive parents; narcissistic specifically. And living with them as taken a whole toll on my mentality (ever since I was born) to the point that I can't figure out if the problem is myself or the environment I'm in. I can't seek for help because it isn't available. There is no such "mental health facility" in my region here so there is no point in looking for a therapist. I try to sometimes reason out with my parents about things but they never change their stereotypical mindsets and I just can't anymore. It's hard and everyday I think of ending this very soul but I am scared of pain and death which is why I'm suffering up to now.

I have my own coping mechanism which is either stay quiet for the entire day or cry out all my frustrations at night, silently. My friends go through such scenarios and worse so I don't really request advice from them. They don't look like they care about me or my problems sometimes so and most times I don't get the comfort I want.

Law isn’t the best when it comes to comfort, he tries his best, but he struggles with his words and actions. He prefers to do things for you and just sit with you while you go through your emotions.

- it warmed armin's heart that you remembered something so insignificant, and opened him up to the thought of being with you

- the rest of the night was spent with hugs and thankfulness, cheering when the clock struck 12 and it became christmas day

- after getting things cleaned up everyone decided it was time to leave, with armin, eren and mikasa offering to give you a ride home

- the first time you slept in the same bed as them you were so nervous your whole body thumped to the tune of your heartbeat, you were convinced armin could even hear it as he was laying beside you, but eren wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you into his large chest before whispering "youre as stiff as a board, relax honey"

- eren snores, mikasa drools, armin has those dreams where you fall and then violently wake up before you hit the ground

- slowly but surely you stop thinking about your relationship as the trio and you, but as all of you together, and that really helps you come out of your shell a bit

- you may still be in the honeymoon phase, and there may be bumps along the way, but you like being with armin, eren, and mikasa. they make you so happy, it feels like the happiest youve been in a long time

- you like watching eren and armin dance in the living room while you and mikasa cuddle on the couch, before the boys pull you two up as well

- you like when armin reads to you, his soft voice reciting the words of the great gatsby

- you like it when eren can just tell youve had a rough day, and pulls you into a hug like hes protecting you from all the bad things in the world

basically i saw this pretty relatable post about mental health from tiktok saying “realizing as a child that if you anticipate and fulfill everyone’s needs around you, and abandon your own, then they’ll rely on you and you can pretend its love and affection”

steve or eddie much? im saying steve, bc it reminds me of your steve and canon steve. hes known as more of a babysitter or ex bf than an actual friend to anyone but dustin and robin (it feels/seems that way to him) so he makes sure he can do everything in his power to make ppl happy because one they deserve it. two, it means hes good for something in their minds. he’s always had to prove himself but due to learning disabilities hes unable to live up to some of those expectations, but what he can do is take care of people, make them laugh, and love on them. part of him really loves the reliance ppl have on him and the thanks he gets because yeah that is something for once other than harsh words and touches. its really only the love and affection he gets besides some robin friendly affection and dustins hugs and pats.

it isnt until eddie that no one notices. eddie notices because maybe he knew someone that way (i imagine his mom but whatever fits for you if you decide to add this hc to something) he notices how steve does a bunch of stuff the kids needs but fails to take care of himself. once summer is around its worse. steve only does the bare minimum, but he forgets to eat and sometimes even fix his hair up. hes too busy driving the kids around, making sure max is feed and has other things she needs, holding little get togethers at his house, etc. for some reason he’s memorized everything about other ppl. one day eddie asks what he likes and he just forgets. he doesn’t know himself all too well, because if he does stop and think about himself he’s afraid he’ll hate himself more or lose focus on others.

anyway, eddie makes a mission to start doing things for steve instead and to give him as much love and affection as possible. he is more touchy, says a lot of praises and affirmations, makes sure he gets himself his favorite foods, comes over to do hair/skin/body care, and everything else steve may need. he makes sure steve knows he’s loved by kissing him on the face and holding him where ever they are. steve just eats it up.

Anyway, I'd like to request for Xiao, Albedo, Zhongli, Kaeya and Diluc (if the number is too much you can cut off whoever from the list) with Traveller! s/o that like has no memory of their past but have clues through these... "Visions/Dreams".

It started out a little simple; every once in a while, Y/N would see these little figures floating around their environment. Shadowy wisps, sometimes ghosts talking to them. But in real life, people can't see them and only sees them talking by themselves (and some are a little weirded out). But then one day, while they were out adventuring in the ruins slimes or seelies... Whatever small cute creatures can exist in Teyvat suddenly gathered in Stormterror's lair and they grew curious cuz they heard... Music? Playing? It was echo-y and creepy but then they heard a very familiar tune that they KNOW is linked to their past so they followed and went into the vicinity

The moment they stepped inside and pinpointed where the music is coming from they bolted up the stairs (if there are any, which probs not but in reader's case there is) and suddenly the stairs lead them to a hallway from a tower/palace, and walking further, there were two huge doors that lead to a ballroom with more than dozens of ghosts waltzing and singing with the music

(No they did not question why would stormterror's lair have a hallway or how it even has a ballroom inside, nor why creatures would gather in said lair. Questions that break away from dreams are nonexistent)

So obviously they were happy at the wondrous sight and began waltzing along with everyone from strangers to... Unrecognizable but familiar faces? Until They danced with this boy their age. The more they looked the more they were enamored and the world around them was but a hazy dream (as vague and hazy the environment in their head can get) but the boy became more and more vivid and so did the music until they practically sang together. But then as the music stopped and s/o turned their back for a second; the boy sang: "And a song someone sings..." And wisps suddenly flew out of him and towards Reader, making them fall unconscious into their arms as the Prince of the Abyss sang in their ear. "Once upon a december..." Before Aether disappeared and he was but a dream.

And then all of a sudden Reader was yanked away from their dream; almost literally. They turned to see their lover holding onto their arm with concern all over their face and explained to them they were so close to the edge dancing away they could've fallen off of the third floor (which was already high!).

And that's when things get a turn to the worse.

Every dream gets worse than the last; anything that involved the abyss, or seeing these star pendants like what Paimon has on her hair or Kaeya's little decor on his clothes or involving Khaenriah or whatever Albedo's research is rn lure them into a dream vivid than the last and it gets even harder and harder to break them off their dreams. One night of going to bed they suddenly had a dream of their old family/friends swimming in the ocean and telling them to join them, and they wouldve if their lover didnt sweep them off their feet and broke away from another dream they didnt realize was 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛 a dream. And the realization that if they jumped off, their bones wouldve broken cuz a bunch of boulders and rocks on a steep cliff would make a nice floor for landing right?

But still, Aether and the abyss (which in their dreams were ghosts and just... this blond guy you knew but never realized it was your brother and the abyss) are recurring themes. Coming across any of the factors instantly puts them in a dream and reader cant tell whats reality and what isnt. Everything is too vivid they didnt see a bubble coming their way or an attack coming towards them and they were about to be thrown off. It got to the point Reader was getting claustrophic from the rooms suddenly shrinking as they were cornered by these ghosts that turned frightening and whenever they fight back they end up nearly murdering someone of mindlessly attempting to destroy one of The Seven statues.

It lead Reader to be.. Kinda suicidal. Not just because they hate themselves and their situation its cuz its the 𝑜𝑛𝑙𝑦 𝑤𝑎𝑦 they knew how to escape the dream and wake up in a bed in their lovers arms. And because reader cant distinguish reality from dreams sometimes even if their lover is present they see these ghosts and think 'this must be a dream I have to wake up from!' cuz in the long run theyve learned fighting back meant hurting someone so they.. Redirected the pain to themselves so theyre very confused to see their lover throw their dagger across the room and they end up breaking down no matter where they are (or in worse cases in the middle of battle). Reader grew dependant on them and panic attacks after these dreams became more frequent until they cant even trust their surroundings whether its a dream or not.

This can be in any format you'd like! But I mostly prefer headcanons + scenarios? like the bullets then comes scenario etc. But ye write however you want sorry for rambling hope you have a nice day thank you

As a Romanov history enthusiast this request was both very interesting and very difficult. Mostly because I found myself veering off into “lore dumping” for lack of a better term. Still I hope the general feeling of your request was captured well.

I spread various aspects of your request around as best I could, depending on character, outline, fic structure, etc. The only thing I didn’t keep in was the suicidal ideation. This is for various reasons, some personal, but in a more general term I think that it can be very difficult to portray something like that in a way that isn’t excessively triggering and is worthwhile to read for a variety of people. The way one person would process through such emotions and put them to paper could be harmful to another. Overall I thought it best to steer clear from such a topic, with the knowledge that I didn’t find it necessary to the story and thought it would be an imperfect addition on my part. Not that I find never addressing such topics necessarily the right path either, only I think that in this case better not to. I hope I explained why adequately. 

I know that wanting to read and write about such topics does not directly correlate to being in such a mental state but I do hope you also take care of your own mental health. Though getting out of such crises can be difficult I want to tell you this at least. You aren’t alone in feeling this way, even if others in your direct vicinity cannot understand. And also sometimes finding a direct reason for continuing on comes later. Sometimes surviving is enough. And even if you cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, that doesn’t mean you should take a step which you will never be able to reverse, the only step you will never be able to reverse in your existence.

I also leaned into the Romanov family dynamic, rather into that of the traveler siblings. Whether the reader is the traveler is kept vague on purpose, as I generally as a rule don’t write the siblings. I also found that in keeping them specifically canon compliant to the traveler siblings I’d have to cut back on the more historical illusions. Being a total history nerd I chose the latter option. 

Otherwise my fics varied in complete accuracy to the prompt, though I hope you find it enjoyable to read nonetheless.

I'm a bit embarrassed to ask this. Have you ever read a fic that, stylistically, it's beautiful, linguistically it's tight, and it's obvious the author poured their whole self into constructing the plot, crafting the world, and nailing down the characterizations, but... You just don't get it? Like, perhaps there's some insight you're missing, and it's almost there, you think maybe you're close to getting what the author is trying to portray, but you just can't make the connection necessary?

(Embarrassed nonny continued) You even reread to make sure you didn’t skip anything, but it’s like it just seems that something missing? Or that you’re the one missing something vital? So you go to the comments to see if anyone else is confused, but all you see are lovely, supportive compliments about how beautiful the story is (and it is), or how heartwrenching it is (usually so). But you seem to be the only one not getting it?

(Embarrassed nonny cont. again) Is it destructive to let the author know that I think a story is beautiful in it’s telling, but that I don’t quite understand it? I don’t want to offend the author, who has clearly worked very hard, and I appreciate them so much. But, I want to understand the story they’re telling, even if I’m the only one not getting it. First of all, there’s nothing for you to be embarrassed about! Stories are partly about authorial intent, and partly about reader interpretation; no two people will interpret a story the same, and no author SHOULD expect a reader to interpret their story exactly as the author intended. SHERLOCK is a perfect example of this (the writers SAY they meant it to be one thing and literally the ENTIRE FANDOM is divided on what’s actually being shown on screen), or if you want to be more classical, the works of Shakespeare as well.

In fact, Shakespeare is a perfect example of your problem: I love Shakespeare: it’s beautifully written, it sounds lovely to the ear, and it invokes imagery based on how someone interprets it. But I sure as heck have NO idea what I read until someone explained it to me, or how I SHOULD have interpreted it (which, is oxymoronic to my point, I know…). Only after I hear how someone else interpreted the work, I can then RE-READ a work and begin to understand what was meant by it, and then develop my own interpretations. 

I’ve read a few fics by a couple authors in this fandom where I LOVED their writing, but I had NO idea what was happening until I re-read the fics… it’s a reading comprehension thing with me, I’m sure (my brain tends to move a bit quicker than I can read and talk, and in turn it also tends to wander when my eyes aren’t going fast enough, LOL), but a lot of times, if I just read a fic a second time I can then grasp the words my brain omitted the first time and then really enjoy and love the fic. I hate that about me, but that’s how my brain works… Perhaps it may be the same with your brain? If a fic is well written and you enjoyed it but just had some comprehension issues, perhaps a second read-through will help you as it has done with me :)

So, now to answer your question: if after reading a fic, and you don’t understand it, is it okay to ask the authorial intent of the story? Unfortunately, there is no yes-or-no answer to this question, Lovely, as every author is different. Personally – and this is just for me speaking, and what I would do or what I would not mind if I were the author – I think it’s alright, so long as you are respectful to them! Dig around their user pages and you can often find ways to interact with the author outside of their fics, or information about whether or not they want to read criticism etc. on their stories. If an author doesn’t want any interaction, they’ll be very clear about it, but most authors have ways to get in touch with them, so to ME that’s a saying “hey, if you have any questions, here’s how to get a hold of me!”. 

If they have a Tumblr with asks turned on, you can even do it like you have done for me here; write exactly what you mentioned, just tweak a few things: Mention how much you love their prose and their storytelling, and you can really feel how much love they put into the story. You found it interesting, though you’re unclear on a few parts. Ask them kindly how they intended for an audience to read it. Many creators appreciate honesty when talking about their works, so just be honest and say that you didn’t understand something and wouldn’t mind a bit of clarification about something. They can’t fault you for not understanding something, and if they do, well… I find that rather ableist, in my opinion: That’s like telling someone with dyslexia to just stop mixing up letters, or someone who’s native language isn’t English to just learn one of the most complex languages in the world with so many structure rules that make no sense half the time…. *shrugs* It’s harsh of me to say, I am sorry about that, writers, but reading comprehension doesn’t come easily for everyone.

ANYWAY, back to my point: An author, so long as you are respectful (and maybe peppering in some compliments and praise never hurts either… a lot of us creative-types have praise kinks) and don’t throw a backhanded compliment (like don’t say: “Your work is so amazing! Though I think you should make it easier for people to understand it, your words are too complex”), they will be more than happy to write out their intent for the story. Let them know it’s YOU who’s not understanding (so, “I have trouble understanding this part” as opposed to “you should make this work easier to read for everyone”… make the onus on YOU). DON’T be demanding (like, don’t say something that can be interpreted as “it’s YOUR responsibility to cater to MY need to understand”), and be patient for a reply.

You can see why this isn’t an easy yes-or-no answer, LOL. 

Essentially, kindness begets kindness, and respect begets respect. And –  this isn’t an attack on you personally with regards to this ask, because I know my audience are adorably shy beans – it might be a show of good faith and intentions to stay off anon when you ask your question; it shows the author that you aren’t being malicious, just simply a smol bean who loves stories and want to learn more about theirs. BUT, it IS okay to stay on-anon if you are shy / worried about not the author but other people interpreting it the wrong way, just make sure you tailor your question to the author in a respectful way that it comes across as respect. Perhaps something like this:

Hi, [author]! I really love your story, [story title]! It’s well-written and I can really tell how much you love this story and how much soul you put into it. I just had a question for you with regards to [name concern here]. [state question here]. I have trouble sometimes with [reading comprehension, English/language, dyslexia, etc.], and I would love to know what your ideas and thought process was for [character, plot point, situation, etc.]. Understanding what the author intended really helps me enjoy the stories even more than I already did, and your thoughts would be really helpful for when I re-read your story! Thank you so much for your time, and thank you for blessing us with this beautiful story!

Or something like that, LOL. And if you genuinely aren’t a native-language speaker, let them know that it’s not your first language so you’re just honestly not grasping a colloquialism that’s common in English but not in, say, German. It’s more common than you think! I’ve had people ask me in private before about a phrase I’ve written or about how they should interpret a meta of mine; I’ve never taken insult upon it, and in fact I love helping people understand my work so that they can enjoy other peoples’ content in the future. 

As an additional thought I just had, I think a good example of fandom-understanding-authors is, actually, the @johnlockficclub; every couple months or so we read new stories, and then at the end of the story, we ask authors our questions about their intent of the stories, and in turn the author gets an interesting (I hope) insight into how various people interpreted their stories. Even during the live-chats leading up to the author q-and-a, we all see how we each interpreted certain sections of the chapters we read that week, and see various viewpoints we never considered. So I think that is a wonderful way to see authorial intent vs. reader interpretation, and as far as I know, all the authors we’ve “interviewed” loved just getting that kind of feedback for their stories. You should join in on at least the author interviews just to see how they go and give you some ideas on how an author will take feedback. It’s so fascinating to me!

Just a fun little anecdote that oftentimes, it is a positive experience for an author because most of them love to talk about their stories – their stories are their children, and they care deeply for them, because it’s a part of them, and it’s an expression of their love. They WANT you to understand and enjoy their work. It’s a cyclical thing: if you understand their children so you can love them too, then they will love their fanbase and will want to continue to write since they received feedback that was validating to them that they produce work that people enjoy and want to know more about. 

Finally, I’d love for some authors to weigh in on their thoughts about this; would you be offended if someone loved your story but would want your clarification on some things, or want to know how you intended for the audience to perceive it? Please let us know!
