something that is like the baseline of amys entire character to me is that shes lonely. shes clingy and physically affectionate in a way none of her friends really are, shes always getting pushed aside and left behind. yeah, she helps out people she doesnt know because shes a nice person, but also, she sees part of herself in them. she wont leave someone else behind because she knows the feeling —and more importantly, hates the feeling. if she doesnt have somebody to stand by her and be there for her, then shes going to be that person for everybody else. something something her obsession with sonic is really just like a manifestation of that desire for closeness with someone, and she thinks that romance is the only way to get that. idk... this hedgehog can have so many abandonment issues.
#me posts#amy rose#sth#sonic the hedgehog#and this is not to say at all that romance is the only way to have 'real' love or anything#just that yknow part of her breaking free of that would also be realizing that she just wants closeness with someone and it doesnt-#-have to be romantic#aroace amy could fit this i suppose and she just doesnt know it yknow. thats not my hc but i support their beliefs if that makes sense#she wants to be loved and she wants to love and she doesnt really get a big outlet for that so she shares it with everyone she sees#also i didnt wanna jam up the post but GAMMA!! this is partially abt gamma she helps him find out how to love and how to find joy in it-#-bc its what she wants for herself. she sees him and sees how completely alone he is and she wants to help him. idk idk something something#-when she was locked in the cell she saw part of herself staring back at her#gamma parallels to amy is SLEPT ON i stg i could make a whole other post about it#idk.. whenever im writing amy or just thinking abt how shed interact with others its always from the lens that she craves closeness with-#-others. she wants people to just stay for once.#does this make any sense. idk man im rambling here#my worst nightmare is characterizing her wrong its such a fine line and sometimes the words do not come out of my brain right#btw this is NOT me dissing amy i love amy. she is like top three favorite character.#important context: im typing this with amy firefox theme rn ok. ok im an amy fan.#she points at the minimize button like shes telling me to log off#jesus christ i just scrolled back up i love to put a whole other post in the notes dont i

hi!! I love the sound of ur shadow service animal au it looks so so good. in your mind how does shadow build his own identity outside of his service animal role//what does that look like for him? also what’s Gerald like in the au?
Tysm!!
Hi there!!
Shadow building his own identity will be a long and arduous journey. His purpose in life is one thing, and it’s actually Sonic who inspires him to begin thinking differently. Sonic questions if anyone has ever only had one purpose in life, and this sticks with Shadow, far more than strangers inquiring why he doesn’t try to have a life outside Maria. Sonic doesn’t want Shadow to denounce his role if Shadow does indeed find fulfillment in it, but he does reject the idea that Shadow cannot ever consider alternatives. Maria won’t live forever, and once Shadow’s ‘role’ is considered obsolete, he’ll become government property as he’s technically a government owned asset, considering Gerald’s research was only allowed via sanction from the military and health ministries.
Shadow building his own sense of self comes strongly from his relationship with Sonic. Not necessarily the intimate one, but just in general by getting to know him. Sonic is unfettered freedom who does whatever he wants and comes and goes whenever he pleases. Sonic does not place himself in service to anyone, but him acting in his own self interest is intrinsically beneficial to others around him, and so he’s often helping people out for no particular reason other than it’s what he likes doing. It’s a very different way of life from Shadow’s, and it makes him curious what it’s like to do as he pleases. Of course, helping Maria is what pleases him, but as he spends time with this strange hedgehog he finds there’s other things that can please him, too. Its mind blowing as a revelation.
Now for Gerald; he’s a very complex character in this. We really don’t know how he canonically was personality-wise or how he treated Maria or Shadow, only that he descended heavily into despair and madness that likely twisted him into far more of a monster than he was. That being said, in this au at least, similarly to Shadow and Maria’s relationship being complicated, Gerald and Shadow similarly have a strange dynamic. It’s not necessarily cruel, but it’s not exactly loving either.
Gerald ‘loves’ Shadow in the sense that a) he’s his greatest creation and b) he’s the thing keeping his beloved granddaughter alive and out of eternal quarantine. He does become more fond of him in the way of dads who insist they don’t like or want cats and then can’t help housing the stray kitten their family brings home. As a baby, it’s difficult not to be a little fond of him, but Gerald carefully separates his affection and his necessary work relationship with Shadow, even as a young child. He has and does not shy from punishing Shadow for failure, and has taken his fright out on him during times Maria’s health has declined for some reason. Shadow goes through strenuous experiments and research and doesn’t protest even when his limits are pushed, which Gerald ‘monitors’ but rarely considers Shadow’s feelings on the matter. It’s usually Maria’s presence that will call days short if she’s upset by Shadow’s condition.
Gerald is very strict and reminds Shadow that there’s no room for failure, and certainly contributes to the dehumanization and objectification of him, but even he has his moments of sitting Shadow down and being struck by his creation’s personhood. It’s a very conflicting feeling for him, and if he questioned the ethics of this practice he would be sacrificing any way to save his granddaughter, which he can’t afford to do.
Gerald is a man who will see things as a means to an end. Those methods will be questionable, but anything is worth Maria’s life to him, which he has instilled in Shadow as well.

Late Night
Unbreakable Bond
Headcanons #3
🧡 During the times when he’s not busy or on missions, Tails has volunteered to help other kids in his area with their homework, especially maths. (one could say he’s a tutor lol) and they all love him (they’ve given him the name ‘the Fun Enstein,’ though Tails wonders if Sonic has been whispering in their ears), because he somehow manages to turn boring, stressful homework, with all its mountain load of impossible tasks, into a fun investigation, as he eagerly dives into the problem with them, breaking it up and solving it piece by piece until they can put those pieces together and get a complete answer. But it’s not just his teaching methods as to why they love him so much, but how he presents the task in front of them. He makes it not just a question on a page anymore, but rather an important mission, a thrilling adventure in their minds. He displays it to them in a way that will not only get their thinking caps on, but also make them just as excited to solve them, as tough as it may appear, because Tails wants them to know that every problem must and always has a solution…and that learning can be fun if you make it! The energy and enthusiasm he has radiates onto those while teaching, his giddiness and excitement over what they’re tryna solve spreads to them, realising that it can be fun, because he makes it look fun and easy and possible. He doesn’t push them or expect them to know right off the bat, if they have questions, he stops and listens, and will get them to use their “thinking caps,” providing small hints or information he gives out to see if they can solve it themselves. If they’re stuck or confused on something, he will go through it over and over, simplifying and carefully explaining it until they understand (he’s already used to doing that with a certain blue hedgehog)
Sometimes he will get so caught up in their work, he ends up doing a problem or 2 all by himself. He can’t help it though, it’s just out of instinct.
Many parents have come to Tails with questions as to why or how he is so good at what he does.
“When you love something with a burning passion…something that brings you so much joy, you will naturally have the ability to teach others, because you will end up finding joy in teaching them, and might just so happens to spread that joy to those you teach.” He replies
Because to him, this is his passion..this is the thing that brought him that joy. This was something that once brought him nothing but a series of bullying and mockery from his peers, now brings him a series of praise and compliments from those around him. This is the something that he can share to help others, whether it be to save the world, or to save a kid from failing their math class.
Whenever Tails thinks back on when people would bully him with names such as “Mr. know-It-All,” he shrugs…they were right, because being a genius means you know it ALL. And if there’s one thing he knows…
Is that he loves being a STEM nerd :)
💙 Sonic, for the life of him, cannot stay still for too long, and that makes sense..i mean he’s the fastest thing alive for crying out loud…he doesn’t stop moving. Even if it’s just a leg rapidly bobbing up and down, or finger tapping on a surface, or…the fidgeting…oh the dreaded fidgeting!!
And Tails completely understands his reasons for this behaviour…he knows his brother almost, if not, better than he knows himself sometimes, but BOY does it really begin to grind his gears when he begins to subconsciously start fiddling with something of Tails’ when he’s in the lab with him, or if they were eating out, he would pick up the cutlery and twirl it around in his fingers. Even if he has no item to hold Into, he will start tugging at the ends of his gloves. It’s like he has to hold or touch something…anything he can get his hands on.
Tails can’t complain too much though, as he also tends to do the same thing, but it’s almost as if Sonic’s is twice as annoying because it’s twice as frequent to happen. He’s even bought him an unruly amount of fidget spinners, all for them to have their fair share of tasting plaster, due to Sonic spinning them so fast, they’d spin right out his fingers, and straight through a wall.
So after multiple repairs and half tempted to remove the entire wall, he scratched that idea, leaving him sitting at his desk, finger tapping the surface in deep thought…finger tapping..oh no how he was doing it too! But that’s when he got the lightbulb, and began to use all that tapping energy in his fingers into rapidly typing on his keyboard.
~
Tails walks into Sonic’s bedroom, where he was sitting on his bed and to no surprise, fidgeting. He plonks down beside him, and hands him a tablet.
“I think you’ll enjoy it.” Was all he said, before getting up and making his exit.
Sonic stared at the tablet perplexed for a short moment before picking it up and looking at the screen, all he saw was a square button that said Start. He tapped it, and before he knew it, music began to play and multiple squares were appearing on the screen increasingly fast, but he managed to hit them before it was too late..if that was the game, he thought.
What was this Tails had just bestowed upon him? Soon enough he began to fall into the swing of things, hitting and swiping the split second a square would appear. He even changed the difficulty because it was too easy. This game…was just so…satisfying. His fingers have never felt so relieved. Even the music was catchy too. So he sat there for the rest of the day tapping away to the beat.
~
Tails was humming away as he tinkered about on his latest project. He then shot a side-eye to see his older brother, standing by his desk with the tablet he’d given him earlier. He looked up to face him, and when he did Sonic tossed the tablet at him. Looking down at it, Tails noticed there was a finger sized crack in the screen. He looked up at the hedgehog wide eyed. “How did you-”
“Fix it.” Sonic said, turned around and left.
Well I guess he enjoyed it then…
s/o to @mbrine for the inspo of these 2 hcs ☝️
🧡 Tails used to earn pocket money from Sonic for the little things he’d achieve when tagging along on his adventures, or if he was being a good boy and sonic decided to treat him.
Now, it’s Sonic earning pocket money from Tails…
Tails (mildy unenthusiastic): congratulations Sonic, you managed to put your laundry in the machine…here’s $1.50
💙 Sonic is fairly good at Tap and Irish dancing *cough cough happy feet sonic edition HACCK-*
🧡 Sonic takes pictures of funny or weird things and makes memes out of them to send to Tails
💙 Sonic and Tails are stargazing and Sonic points out a star.
“That’s a bright one.”
“That’s Sirius, also known as the Dog Star. It’s the brightest star in our night sky. Its name literally means “glowing” in Greek. Sirius has a high luminosity in comparison to other stars, and has a mass twice of that which the sun has. In fact, if you were to place Sirius next to the Sun, it would outshine the sun more than 20 times over…”
Hold up- HOW DOES HE KNOW THE STAR EXACTLY…NAME N EVERYTHING?
Sonic doesn’t even bother to fact check him as he’s probably right. All he’s thinking about now is whether his little brother has an IQ of 300 or 3000…
🧡 Sonic and Tails have a special handshake, and I mean a gumball and Darwin kinda handshake lmao

So ... I made a self insert fore WIR ....ya
:]
Name: Scrapper/scrap
Gender: male (this mf bisexual)
Age: in his game like 20s to 30s if we go with his game age like 30s or 40s
Game: Scrapper's scrape up
(its like punch out game mechanics game play wies)
Character interactions:
Hc he gets pumped up easily and likes to push people in the shoulder lightly but really fast when he needs to let out that excitement (t can be like a charging up a special move in his game) and might accidentally leave a bruise
When he does it to Ralph it tickles
When he punches Felix he says ow but then hammers his arm and it heals
When he did it to Calhoun for the first time she hit him across the room because she thought he was picking fights and fucking K.Od him with that bitch slap
Then was kind of apologetic after Felix explained and yelled "oh shoot sorry" then Scrap still laying in the floor gives a thumbs up and a strained "I'm ok...it's ok"
Also if he did the punching thing with Vanelopie she would just pixilate a bit and his punches would almost go through her shoulder kinda I think much like Ralph it would also just tickle
Ralph:
Before the whole plot of the movie I like to think Ralph liked him but was kind of bitter "he has huge fists and smashes stuff why am "I" the villain?" XD
Ok ok
So he and Ralph actually get along surprisingly well for you know one being the main character of his game and supposed "heroes" of the game  and the other is well the bad guy. They both like punching stuff and hav a give each other a high five or fist bump while walking by each other so like buddys
Felix:
Him and Felix are more like
Felix: look at this cool thin-
Scrap: HOLLY CARP CHECK THAT OUT
Like literally one of the doodle sketches was Scrapper leapfrogging over felix to look at a new plugged in game
So he kinda is an annoying brat towards felix but always makes it in good fun like he's messing around with him with never an intent to hurt his feelings (even when he goes too far and accidentally does)
Vanelopie:
So now we got Vanelopie
There's actually this running joke sorta where scrapper really likes bright colors becus how I imagine his game has a very limited color palette except him for aesthetically pleasing reasons
So he'd actually stay away from brightly colored areas out of comfort before becoming more enthralled in other colors hens his fixation with casualty visiting sugar rush when he's bored
You may think oh then he must have met Vanellope while visiting
Well actually no he bye dumb luck he never met her until after the events of the first movie
So there knowing each other isn't really that strong yet
But because of him and ralph eventually becoming friends he grew a liking to the spunky little girl calling her shortstack all the time (despite him being a similar height) and or squirt
In response Vanellope calls him oled man
Calhoun:
 Calhoun thinks he's like 12
He is not he's like 30-40 Like lectures him on his fighting form Thinks he's like inexperienced Finds him endearing if a little overbearing Finds his high energy useful in certain situations but exhausting at other times Is unsure...which fighting game he originates from Then bonding through duty or honor or avenging a loved one.
Sour bill (because I want more interactions and im hiperfixsaiting):
Scraper:Yoooooo a fellow rubber ball
Sour bill:what?
Ima say this shit now they would drink tea together because yes Scrapper doesn't like coffee he drinks tea
Sonic (because I can):
Mf cameos in scrappers game in later levels for no reason just because funny
It's like the meme
Scrapper: sonic? What are you doing here?
Sonic in scrapper's game: waiting for them to play Gangdemstyle
Ok so I forgot to put this in I was ryly hoped to post this but thanks to my friend @im-not-important fore spell correcting and helping come up with ideas(also did some of the Blu doodles in the Wight board drawings)

How did other people react to 3, like
What Amy or Knuckles have to say about this kid and tails behavior?
rouge pinches 3's cheeks and says he's sooo cute and he looks juuust like shadow and is generally so unbelievably annoying about it because she knows it pisses shadow off. privately, she might muse about how if tails hadn't found sonic when he was younger, he would've ended up a lot like eggman.
amy loves 3 and is generally very doting whenever she gets to see him. she has beef with tails over this though. like, what were you thinking? then she remembers he's 8 years old, and she kinda answers her own question.
knuckles does not like 3 and is generally distrusting but when 3 falls ill he's also the first to offer up one of the chaos emeralds to see if its juice could help, since shadow has a very close relationship with chaos energy, it would just make sense for 3 to as well.
omega loves 3 in the sense that he knows about 3's immense capability for destruction and will encourage him to "go apeshit" whenever he can

Once again, it is time for that rare moment where I talk about Deltarune instead of Sonic stuff. And today, I've decided to talk about one of the many mysteries of the setting.
Namely... what did Asgore DO?
Tumblr media
One of the constants kept over from Undertale in Deltarune was the sad reality that Asgore is still divorced from Toriel, and their post-divorce relationship is... less than ideal, with Asgore desperately trying to get back into Toriel's good graces and Toriel being none-too-thrilled about it. And its pretty clear that whatever happened in the divorce, it's taken a pretty bad toll on Asgore. It's implied he doesn't have visitation rights, and no longer lives in the same house as Tori, instead living in his flower shop. And his present state of living is just... almost too depressing for words.
Tumblr media
So yeah, things are not looking great for ol' Asgore. But that does beg the question- what happened THIS time? Recall that in Undertale, Toriel's hostility to Asgore was predicated on both him murdering six children as well as basically getting everyone's hopes up for who-knows-how-long rather than taking one soul and going straight to business after escaping the Underground. How justified she is is going to be the subject of endless debate, now and forever, but at the core of things in Undertale its pretty clear that this hostility comes from some VERY grim circumstances.
Given the more comparatively mundane nature of Hometown and the Light World, its pretty clear that whatever circumstances led to Toriel and Asgore divorcing couldn't be anywhere near as horrible as what happened in Undertale. There's no fantastic circumstance here- Monsters live on the surface as humans do (that we know of), and while Asgore is not exactly held in high regard by Hometown these days, he none the less leads a free, if somewhat depressing life.
So again, what happened here? Why is it that Asgore is still divorced?
As it stands, with everything else, we only got two chapters to go by, and as such we need to work with a LOT of contextual clues to try and piece together even a vague idea of how things reached this point.
And believe it or not, one the key bits of insight we have? Is none other than Rudy Holiday.
Tumblr media
Rudy is established as having been friends with Toriel and Asgore in college, and is all but stated to have been Asgore's best man at their wedding, and even in the present is still close to the both of them even though they are no longer together. Out of all the people we talk to in Hometown, Rudy is the one with the most positive stuff to say about Asgore, and Asgore recipricates this by visiting Rudy in the hospital daily, with new flowers for each visit. And while we don't witness it for ourselves, it is revealed that Toriel ALSO visits Rudy and is implicitly close to him as well, with Rudy even suspecting that Kris' visit was done at Toriel's prompting (and sadly probably WOULD be if we weren't using them as a meat-puppet).
This might not seem like such a big deal, but I feel it reveals something very crucial about what might have happened, if only in the abstract. It tells me that whatever happened? While it was serious enough to prompt the divorce and cause Toriel to no longer love Asgore, it WASN'T bad enough that Rudy doesn't think ill of Asgore, or enough to cause Toriel to no longer wish to associate with Asgore or Rudy with her. He bears no malice to anyone in the Dreemurr family, and this is an important detail, because it would seem extremely improbable that things between the three of them would be this hunky-dory if Asgore really did do something legitimately terrible.
Which, admittedly, isn't impossible... but it does feel unlikely, under the circumstances we presently see.
Given the way Dark Worlds reflect something of Lightners, some have suggested that maybe the Card Kingdom just as easily reflects something of Kris as it does Susie. While King mirrors Susie's earlier statements, one cannot help but notice that King is an enormous, pseudo-mammalian king with a hefty build, almost like a warped mirror of Asgore. And that comparison becomes all the more concerning when you consider how, as we go on, its revealed that Kris was once a very mischievous little kid... one can imagine that, perhaps, Kris was very much like Lancer, once upon a time. And if that's the case, then maybe it’s not a coincidence that King threatened both Lancer AND Kris directly.
Tumblr media
It's a tempting thought... and oh, the warped implications it would carry, given that in Chapter Two its revealed that King wasn't going to go through with his threat and actually CARES about Lancer, despite earlier evidence to the contrary? Now THAT would imply some ugly-ass things about Kris' thoughts and feelings about their father. Or Susie's, if you believe the Card Kingdom is primarily 'meant' for her. It does make an eerie amount of sense, does it not?
Tumblr media
Only... not quite. It’s tempting to think Asgore might have done something to Kris in a moment of weakness, but honestly? I really, really doubt it. Because let's face it, if Asgore had hurt or done something out line with Kris? It's incredibly doubtful that Toriel would ever allow Kris to get anywhere NEAR Asgore, and Rudy likewise would probably have little to do with Asgore over something like that. Oh, sure, friends will stick with friends, but that feels like something not even Rudy could overlook. And then there's the whole 'Eggs-Husband' incident...
Tumblr media
... God that was painful. Like, kudos to Toby Fox, I don't think I've EVER felt that kind of secondhand embarrassment from a piece of media ever. It really was just a masterpiece of utter and complete failure. Still, it's important in helping to frame where everyone stands in this divorce, because while Toriel does try to get away from Asgore as fast as possible after his disastrous attempt at punnery (and who could blame her?), she none the less is willing to hear him out when he wants to talk about Asriel's return (possibly about the divorce itself).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's important to note that, again, context is key here. Earlier in Chapter 1 its established that Asgore keeps sending Toriel flowers, which inevitably wind up in the trash, and likewise she rebuffs his deeply ill-conceived attempt to re-connect with her at Sans' store. But from what we see so far, it may not necessarily be that Toriel hates Asgore, so much that he refuses to get a clue about where they stand and persists in these self-sabotaging attempts to curry her favor. While the problem might be rooted in whatever happened in the past, it’s pretty clear that a BIG part of that is due to Asgore's present behavior. How do we know this? Because she still hears him out when he ISN'T trying to get into her good graces.
I feel that if Asgore had done something to Kris, or done something REALLY bad? Then he wouldn't even get that much. As it stands we don't know enough to say for sure, and all we can do is look at how people act and try and come up with some idea of things, but I'm willing to bet that while Asgore made some kind of serious misstep? He didn't do something unforgivable... just something severe enough that it would justify Toriel leaving him, with his refusal to let go simply making things that much worse over time given that its clear Tori CAN be civil with him. He just makes it difficult due to his overbearing and embarassing behavior... again, we can only infer things, but I do feel like a large part of Toriel's hostility stems from Asgore's inability to back off more than anything else, even the events that caused the divorce.
I can of course, be wrong, about all of this. We have only two chapters and nothing else to go by. But there is one last piece of this puzzle that I think offers an even better insight into why things happened as they happened- the reveal that Asgore used to be the chief of Homedown's police department, and that he was made to step down under unknown circumstances, hence why Undyne, a rookie, is now Hometown's police chief. We don't know what happened yet, but whatever did happen? Kris doesn't like to read about it, keeping Us from seeing what happened. It could be because they don't want us prying into their family's business just in general, but there's also a really good chance that it may be simple guilt that keeps them from reading the rest of that article.
Tumblr media
And from here, we can paint a pretty compelling picture of what may have happened. As we know, Dess Holiday, Rudy's oldest daughter and Asriel's childhood best friend, went missing under mysterious circumstances. Dess' mother is mayor of Hometown, and its strongly hinted that whatever happened, DEss is now trapped somewhere in the Dark World (or worse), and other hints seem to indicate that Kris might in fact be aware of this, and its hinted that this event may have occurred near the mysterious bunker in the forest that Kris is explicitly afraid of. More interestingly, schoolmates Snowy and Monster Kid seem to be aware of this fact as well, which brings some interesting implications of itself.
Either way, with these details we can imagine a very probable chain of events for how things went down- Kris and Dess did something or the other at the Bunker, which led to Dess possibly being whisked away to the Dark World. Asgore, as police chief, is tasked with finding Dess. His inability to find Dess leads to him being fired by her mother, the mayor, and this would probably lead to the personal troubles at home that would lead to him eventually being divorced from Toriel and living on his own. This seems to be the general consensus among fan-interpretations, and  honestly? It seems pretty probable that this, or something like this, is how the divorce went down... and maybe why Kris is the way Kris is, in the present.
There is however an interesting little wrinkle in this formula, though out of everything I mentioned, this one is possibly the longest shot. Earlier in the game when we explore Asgore's store, we find a very terse note from his landlord telling him point blank that he has a month to pay the rent, even suggesting he start selling the flowers rather than giving them away. All that we know about this landlord is that their first initial is "C". So, where does the long shot come in? There is a possibility that "C" is none other than Mayor Holiday, Rudy's wife and Dess' mother, and previously Asgore's boss. What evidence do we have to suggest this? Mayor Holiday is described as being very good at her job while also not being great with people, and is evidently very driven and intimidating, so much so that Noelle is actively afraid of her. The way the note is written is not very formal, nor is it very sociable either... and there are more than a few Christmas related terms that start with "C". A lot of the fandom seems to have settled on "Carol".
Tumblr media
Again, this could be a long shot, one built entirely by conjecture. But if this "C" is indeed mayor holiday? That's where the wrinkle comes in. Because if Mayor Holiday is willing to give Asgore a business and overlook past failures to pay the rent, then it may be that his leaving the force wasn't JUST because of his failing to find Dess... or rather, if Mayor Holiday had any part of it, it actually wasn't out of personal anger at him failing to find her daughter. If "C" is Mayor Holiday, then in this context it means that whatever (probably negative) feelings she has towards Asgore, they're not enough to stop her from trying to help him get back on his feet. You might argue that if she IS involved in his flower shop venture it might be more due to Rudy than her, but then if Rudy has this much sway over her, she wouldn't have fired Asgore for not being able to find Dess.
Granted, there's always the 'Dying Wish' factor, though we don't know how long Rudy's been sick...
But still- firing someone for a personal reason would be a VERY bad breach of ethics, and from what we've seen (or haven't) of the mayor so far is that whatever her personality flaws, she isn't actually corrupt or anything. Hometown is so peaceful and orderly that the police force isn't really regarded as necessary! Quite the accomplishment... and firing Asgore for personally failing her would be the kind of conflict of interest that could jeopardize those accomplishments, understandable as it might be in this instance.
So, what would this imply for Asgore and his leaving the force? I believe that while Dess vanishing was the catalyst for everything, it wasn't the direct cause of Asgore losing everything. I imagine that failing to find Dess for an undetermined amount of time weighed heavily on Asgore, given that this is his best friend's daughter, a daughter who is the best friend of Asriel at that.
My hypothesis, as such? Is that Asgore's failing to find Dess slowly ate away at him, and that this caused things at home to get tense, before his eventual desperation led him to do something he shouldn't have, thus leading to him being removed from the force, and leading to further troubles at home, culminating in him saying or doing SOMETHING that led Toriel to divorce him.
I don't have any authority to definitively suggest what it might have been. But I DO feel confident that if Dess' disappearance had anything to do with Asgore's dismissal from the force? It wasn't as simple as the mayor being angry with him and removing him due to that anger, but because of something Asgore himself did in reaction to his own failure at finding Dess, and that this in turn led to whatever would happen to cause his divorce from Toriel. I believe this, because while Asgore has fallen on very hard times, the worst of what he's going through is due to his own poor choices that we can see, and however pitiful his current state, he isn't alienated/exiled from the people in his life. And if he had done something REALLY bad? I don't think that would be the case.
Of course, I can be wrong. Heck, I probably am. We only got two games to go by, and as such virtually everything I say is ultimately just conjecture, some a bit more supported by game text, and some less. But whatever the reality is? I'm VERY confident that Asgore didn't do anything evil... but it was still enough to cost him everything. Given the themes going on in the light world, it'd make sense that rather than anything big or dramatic, the truth just turned out to be something simple, unglamorous, and quietly sad.
Just like in real life, a lot of the time.

Ok so. whats the point i wanted to make. oh yeah right
SILVER THE HEDGEHOG!!!! FUCK!!!!
his character is so interesting this is a character for sure. im screaming and crying etc etc. the unfortunate part is NO ONE GETS HIM. i see a lot of interpretations that cherry pick his personality and experiences and it just! isnt it! he is a complicated character!
trying to simplify him down to 🥺innocent soft boi🥺 doesn't work, not only cause you're ignoring his DEBUT GAME (NEVER FORGET HE TRIED KILLING SONIC) but also because you just disconnected him from his entire backstory and motivations. i see people making Silver into a "cinnamon roll" guy and it always makes me grimace because... do you know WHY he is clueless. do you know why he doesn't get things or is too trusting or this or that. its because he grew up in the apocalypse alone. he hasn't experienced anything normal or healthy in his entire life. and since these traits, which are used to make him into the innocent cinnamon roll, are a result of growing up in a very abnormal environment, are symptoms of having never been in social situations and never had a normal day-to-day life. this means you can't ignore the OTHER characteristics that result from it. by this i mean hes very independent, very stubborn and aggressively mean (i recommend watching any of Silvers interactions in the Rivals games. he is extremely confrontational and a very good example of the kind of behaviour i'm talking about). but since this doesn't fit the bill for the character that you want him to be, you remove the context. him being clueless has nothing to do with his background. hes anxious cause hes a smol bean, not because hes been drowning in responsibility and trauma for as long as hes been alive. hes kind because hes innocent, not because he chose to be despite it all
"but linnea! what about IDW! hes very innocent in that!" INCORRECT BUZZER. IDW is not the same. i'll admit, the writing isn't always what i want or expect for Silver, but there's something important for you to note here
Silver is ✨Recovering✨
from my perspective at least. what i see is Silver, who has actively been working together with other people for MONTHS. he has friends, a support net, as well as hobbies. these are things he didn't have before, and being with these people, in both calm and hard times, helped him. So what we are seeing isn't the trauma responses, we're seeing the result of being acclimatized into a healthier and safer position. that's why there's a change in behaviour. this doesn't mean hes a soft boy now. AGAIN hes complicated. be careful not to boil him down to a single trait. in IDW we still see moments where he experiences difficulties because of his past. examples include when he met Whisper, Failed Social Interaction and said this:
Tumblr media
he struggles with boundaries! of course he does! he's still getting the hang of being around people
then also recently when he came to help Sonic in 58:
Tumblr media
he is struggling!! with nothing to focus on! his default is fight fight save the future fight!! he's not used to normal life and that makes him anxious and frustrated, unable to focus on things he cares about, as we see in the future growth comic in the 2022 annual
there are likely more examples but idc. need to finish this post. continuing, Silver is complicated, meaning that even when he is aggressive and tunnel visioning on a task, he has more going on. one thing i fucking lovee LOVE love about Silver is that he has hope. fuck if i were him i think i'd have given up. THOSE horrors? every day? no thanks
Silver feels anguish and frustration and fear. this being said even at his angstiest moments he has hope. you cannot look me in the eye and tell me that Silver fought through every horrible disaster, coming back to a newly devastated world every time and decided to continue with no hope for a better future. he is determined and he has hope, even if he has to fight tooth and nail for it. Usually when i think about Silver and his odd optimism, i go back to '06, when he's having his moral crisis over killing sonic.
"To kill someone to save the world... is that really the right thing to do?"
it would've been understandable if he decided it was the right thing to do, even if sonic was someone who was kind and loved, because that's just how bad the world is. maybe its just me, but the way this thought broke through in spite of his bull headed focus on destroying the iblis trigger speaks to me about his nature as a person. even coming from the bleak world he came from and even with the tunnel vision he had, he still considered this one persons life to be important too.
he is, at heart, a very gentle and kind person. he is, at heart, someone who is strong and who wants to help others. a version of Silver that is sad all the time, unable to see the good in the world (a phenomena i don't see much of thankfully) isn't true to Silver as a character because its missing that core trait to his character, that he wants to help because he cares.
Silver can't be one or the other. one way ignores his background and his trauma, which leaves out important parts of his personality, the other just abandons a very integral part of who he is.
the point really is to say that (slaps roof of Silver) this bad boy can fit so much layers!

I figure now that we r in round 3, it would be a good time to expand on dog's deal specifically by explaining his context--bc he's very much defined by that + his story purpose, rather than his concept on its own! Welcome To My Beepo House.
tl;dr i made dog to be a friend-haver and a friend-maker and specifically be a friend for super :) a vote 4 dog in @sonic-oc-showdown is a vote for FRIENDS!
For beginner's context: for just under half the run of Fleetway Sonic the Comic, twisted evil killer Super Sonic is separated from Sonic physically, loses his chaos powers that compel him to violence, and ends up destitute in Metropolis Zone until a couple of minor characters take him in to live + work with them at the jazz cafe the Groovy Train. everyone say hi ebony and pyjamas :) I love the tension between this trio in how they approach the conflict of super sonic Being There, but ebony and pyjamas are also both adults and I see them as having more parental/grandparental relationships with him rather than real equal friends. so that's where dog and bebe come in :)
Tumblr media
this is part of a canon divergence au that keeps the groovy train dynamic largely in place, rather than ending it with the comic. in the canon ending, ebony casts a spell that merges super and sonic back into the same body. sonic conquers super and things are alright for the end of the story. okay well i dont like that so </3 instead in this au, ebony hides super by merging him into *herself.* they struggle to live together for a bit until a minor villain (lord sidewinder) comes in and separates them, once again trying to harness super's power for himself. well he fails and they kick his ass and such. after this, the conflict between super and ebony expands from some of the canon conflict + the new merger conflict annnd now he can go make new friends at the skate park :) by doing what he does best: being sad and wet and pathetic until someone with a big heart tries to help him out.
Tumblr media
i've been developing dog and bebe with the intent to make a nice balanced group between them: bebe is the Instigator, the Active member of the group, the hero-like, the leader. she's competitive, she's right, and she knows it! super's the rookie with crazy power, he's a fish-out-of-water most times but when it comes to a real fight he can be a heavy-hitter. he's cautious and deferential (canon low self-esteem behaviors), but he's coming into his own with the help of those around him. and doggy my special guy doggy is the mediator: she's the wingman and cheerleader, she's the helping hand that keeps everyone's heads cool. she's the first to trust and the first to forgive. she's a capybara: everyone's friend :)
ofc i hope dog's deal on his own is interesting enough to people! what if there was a capybara and he was nice and also silly :) but it feels so wrong to separate her from super... that's her buddy that's the reason i made her. my au characterizaiton of super doesn't get to happen from only knowing an older woman who believes he can do no wrong ever and an even older woman who doesn't quite trust him not to do wrong. he's gotta have a friend who doesn't care about all that super sonic stuff--in fact thinks super is just lying about most of it (that's okay, sometimes people need to lie about their lives and it doesn't make them bad or anything). someone who is willing to meet him without any of that baggage and openly invite him into friendship and a safer life :)

Flynn saying that Amy should move on from Sonic because their dynamic will never get a "proper conclusion", and it gets in ths way of her character shows a clear misunderstanding of Sonic and Amy dynamic, and Amy herself. Amy doesn't follow Sonic around just because she loves him, but she also loves adventures like him, she can help people while loving Sonic, like on sa1 where she helps and a small flicky, befriends gamma and even protects it from Sonic.
Tumblr media
Putting the clip here to let everyone experience how snide and mocking he sounds. "Will they have kisses one day? 🥴" shut up, you are a paid professional ffs.
Tumblr media
I'm not afraid of calling it sexist. I'm not saying Flynn, as a person, is some sort of asshole misogynist, but there is a very obvious pattern in the things he writes and says, ever since his Archie days and continuing nowadays: he clearly doesn't like cute, feminine traits in female characters, and he prefers masculine traits that he associates to maturity (something something sally). I don't like it. You can let Amy have her silly harmless crush and still write her with respect. Sonic considers her a trustworthy friend eve in games where she's more forward with her infatuation (SA1). There was no need for him to waltz in like he owns the place because he got tired and he wanted them to "move on", like some sort of fic writer who ships the two with other characters and wants to break their canon dynamic.
And I still hate his rhetoric that "she has so much love to give, she has potential!". What a slap in the face towards the character. Amy's most famous scenes are precisely her giving love to people other than Sonic! The Flicky, Gamma, Shadow, Big, Cream, Silver, even Professor Pickle in the ending of Unleashed, all people she protected or supported or comforted in times of need without Sonic involved. You are not revolutionizing anything! I'm not pretending Amy was peak character in the 2000s, but she was not always a Sonic-obsessed yandere. Hell, you can't even say "muh meta era, he needs to fix the bad pontaff writing", because she was perfectly fine in Lost World and Forces. Do I need to repeat how little Frontiers does with its supposed "character development" moments? Or how Amy, in her quest to "give love" to the Kocos, accidentally forgets that Tails' life is in danger?
I'm glad Twitter for once dragged his ass.

seeing as its july, some disability headcanons i have with various detail per character. also just assume each character is autistic tbf
i hc sonic as AuDHD. id probably leave this out but hes literally the epitome of having both to me
similarly tails is peak autism to me, but i think he has anxiety as well. thats not to mention the obvious one (i cant remember what its called but it starts with poly and its why he has 2 tails)
sticks, bipolar schizoaffective disorder. i have gone into more detail in the past, but its really easy to apply to canon honestly
vector is a cane user in my head. i sort of just randomly decided this one night so this doesnt have the same weight to it but if it helps i can easily imagine him with some form of arthritis in his spine or something
tangle has hypermobility and i think she likes trying to freak people out with it (unfortunately thats quite hard considering her absolutely giant tail usually does that instead)
i dont often think about it but shadow with chronic pains is such a banger headcanon i have to mention it
theres probably more but i cant think

i don't have anything specific to ask about the comic BUT i enjoy hearing your commentary. so take this ask as an excuse to talk about whatever <3
hi i'm very very late to respond to this but i really want to talk about the last page of my sonic battle comic because i have been thinking about it again
Tumblr media
i've seen a few different interpretations from people regarding this page, but none of them have really hit what i was going for. the main question i want to answer is "why does sonic see emerl here?"
thoughts under the cut :]
for those who don't know much about or haven't played sonic battle, emerl functions very differently from most of the other robots in the sonic series. sonic battle is a fighting game - most characters have abilities and moves that are specific to them, but emerl is a little different. emerl's most important ability is that he can copy the moves and attacks of the other characters, leading to a bit more gameplay variety when you play as him. it's a smart move in terms of game design, but it's equally as (if not more) important to the story.
when emerl first meets sonic, emerl is essentially a blank slate. however, as he starts to collect more chaos emeralds, he's able to communicate with the other characters and have his own thoughts, feelings, and personality. these more emotional aspects of emerl do not come from nowhere - they're learned and copied from the other characters, similar to how emerl can copy their in-game movesets.
emerl, at his peak, is a character that has traits similar to every single character he's interacted with - sonic, tails, knuckles, amy, cream, rouge, and shadow. he's quippy like sonic, he feels compassion for the others like amy, he feels sorrow like shadow - his ability to copy lets him be his own person, as ironic as it sounds.
so at the end of the game, when tails asks sonic "do you ever think we'll see emerl again," there are a number of different ways i feel like you can interpret sonic's confident answer of "definitely." you could take it literally - technically emerl comes back in the form of gemerl in the sonic advance series, but like. sonic cannot see into the future so he doesn't know that right now. also this interpretation is boring sorry everyone on twitter who left this in my replies you are wrong
this brings me to my own interpretation and to why sonic sees emerl in this last page. like i said, emerl is a combination of all of sonic's friends, of their personalities and beliefs. when you look at emerl, you can easily see the hearts of everyone that helped him grow. so who says you can't do the same for everyone else?
sonic is confident that they'll see emerl again because he sees emerl in all of his friends. tails' hope for the future is just like emerl's. amy's compassion is just like emerl's. rouge's wit, and knuckles' stubbornness - they are the same as emerl's. emerl was unique in how he connected all of their hearts and souls, but those souls still remain as long as everyone lives to see the future. they will continue living for emerl, and they'll see him again as long as they're together.
it's certainly a very cheesy and "power of friendship" interpretation, but that's why i love it. i love when this series is earnest in its sincerity and i love sonic battle because of how emerl completes the cast. god this game is so fuckin good
that's all i got. goodnight tristate area

Thankful for The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog giving some good examples the exact kind of Eggdad Eggfam dynamics stuff that I really wanna see if it has to be a thing in the games. Would be very happy to see more of this. It's been going around out of context but I like it in context much more
I like how he encourages his robots to compete to impress him and be "rewarded", which keeps them motivated and loyal in serving him. This is EXACTLY the kind of thing I've been fucking talking about in my Eggdad tag!!! WIN
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then you end up with robots built with the desire to serve him! Them specifically being programmed with those desires makes it seem a lot more artificial and shallow and that's why I like it, it feels very accurate because both Eggman and his creations prioritize pleasing him.
Tumblr media
And he takes pride in their sentience and loyalty only being possible thanks to his genius, of course 🥰
Tumblr media
And I like how this also plays a part in the Mirage Express' crisis about the conductor leaving, as that is what it saw as its bounty and all and the wish it had
The turning people into robots for Sage to play with thing is good because it can be a way for him to try to get her to see and use people as play things, just like he does.
Tumblr media
His 'parenting' involves evil and it can be a way of having a bad influence which is another thing that can be helpful in getting his creations to be on the same page and agree with all his beliefs and desires too.
I also like that Sage is red not blue so she's evil again, which I highly expect in the future main games because there's no way he'd revive her as a good person over who he actually created her to be if he can do anything about it, like Flynn was seemingly hinting at too
Tumblr media
I also appreciate Eggman being as big of an angry asshole to Orbot and Cubot as usual and them not acting like he's ever been genuinely nice to them
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I like to think Eggman approved only shirts for his "kids" to wear that hype HIM up. Whether he has them made or not, it's funny that's the case instead of them having like "best daughter/son" shirts, it has to be all about him like he always wants hehe
Tumblr media
Something that would make it funnier is that it could potentially also be Metal's "birthday" in the game too, since he shares an anniversary with Amy because maybe that's why they have party hats and yet it's still all about Eggman over the potential birthday boy lol

Idea for villain Amy's She could be a yandere that stalks sonic and tries to force herself on him and kills anyone for going near him
Tumblr media
Amy's attraction towards Sonic is severely misunderstood by people who do not respect her character enough to properly understand her. Amy's feelings are not an obsessive mania, they are a precocious crush. They derive from her primary character flaw of short sighted entitled selfishness, but they are also indicative of why Amy could never be a villain: she is too innocent and pure of heart.
Compare Amy to, for example, Goku. Goku is not anybodies idea of a paragon of moral virtue. But he is completely pure without a single ounce of evil in his heart whatsoever.
Tumblr media
Amy is the same way. She is selfish and juvenile, but that comes from the same place as her boundless energy and capacity for reaching out and touching the hearts of others inspiring them to be their best self. They are inextricably linked. You cannot have an Amy who will drop everything to help a lost baby bird evade killer robots and find its family members without also having an Amy who will ambush Sonic out of nowhere with demands that he act as the birds bodyguard whether he likes it or not and then proceed to galavant off into an amusement park in the whimsical idea of them being a cute couple. They both derive from the same place: her childlike purity. You have to take the good with the bad.
That's also why Amy could never be a true villain. She can be misguided or wrong headed, but she can never be properly evil. She would never do something that strictly benefits herself to the exclusion of another person's feelings. Even in the bull rushing Sonic to be Birdies bodyguard scene, Sonic DOES go along with it despite his protestations. In Sonic's version of the Twinkle Park entrance scene, they are just casually walking down the street together.
Tumblr media
Clearly she isn't exactly holding a gun to his head. If Sonic has genuinely been like "Amy I do not have time for your bullshit right now, our PLANE got shot down and I need to find Tails!" she would have gone "oh shit well then I'll tag along and help you find Tails too!" which would have conveniently also allowed her to stick with Sonic which is what she wanted in the first place. She would not in any spectrum of reality been like "I don't care, I SAID you need to help the BIRD >=O " and like threatened him with her hammer or something. The fact Sonic pretty much goes along with Amy's bullshit to the exclusion of finding Tails says more about him than anything else
Amy cannot be evil because she's too pure. That's not to say she's too "good" by our subjective definitions of virtue and morality. She's pure in the same way a child or an animal is pure. Just like Goku woulda done. And that's also where her attraction to Sonic comes from. She isn't really attracted to Sonic for, like, his body. She's attracted to his personality and what he represents. She's attracted to his spirit of adventure. And it is through her childish purity that that attraction expressed itself in a desire to get married, it's a very "playing house" or "tugging a girls hair because you like her" kind of thing. Sonic's rejection of it is just as juvenile like Oshima once explained: he finds it annoying because "getting married" isn't "cool", not because he genuinely dislikes her. (They're perfect for each other lol)
Ironically if Sonic became the kind of person who would be happy with "settling down" and getting married to Amy, he would cease to be the person that she is attracted to in the first place. If she ever "got him" then she wouldn't want him anymore. The evolution and maturation of their relationship in the games since Unleashed comes from a mutual understanding of one another and themselves. She WANTS him to be the wind that blows free and can never be tied down, so that she can always be swept up in the breeze and go along on adventures of her own.
An "evil Amy" just wouldn't make sense for that same reason. Just like how Sonic would cease to be the person Amy is attracted to if he were to want to settle down, an Amy who is evil just wouldn't be Amy. She would fundamentally be a completely different character who shares none of the same values or personality. She might as well just be a new character wearing Amy's skin. Or be possessed by the will of a hack moron of a writer. Amy can be a dumb bitch sometimes, but she could never ever be evil by any strata.

So assuming that Sonic 3 will at least partially follow the plot line of Sonic Adventure 2, here are some of my thoughts/predictions about things that will happen in the movie to fit Shadow’s lore into the movie universe;
• In regards to Shadow’s motivation for disliking Sonic, either (a) he resents him for having a human family while his was lost, (b) he thinks Sonic and his friends are stupid for getting close to humans as they are ‘inferior’, or (c) he doesn’t really care about any of that, but just that Sonic gets in his way. • Similar-ish to the last point, but I want Shadow to come to respect the Wachowski’s. Maybe not fully like them, but at least acknowledge they are good people. Whether that happens gradually or after he gets his real memory of Maria’s wish back, I want him to soften a little to them.
• I don’t think Shadow will be adopted into the Wachowski family. Not because they don’t want him, but rather I think he will become a free spirit, similar to how he is in Sonic 06.
• Although in SA2 Amy is the one to talk Shadow into helping stop the ARK hitting earth, I think Sonic could work well as the one to talk him down. He lost family, but he found a new one. He could convince Shadow that not all of humanity is evil. That, or maybe even Tom could talk to him? Who knows. I think Amy would also be a great option to match what happens in the games and I’d love to see that moment recreated, but I worry since we have had no word of her actually appearing in Sonic 3. That and I feel like they’d want the moment to be between Shadow and a ‘main’ character instead, especially with Sonic’s backstory being much different in this universe. • I also think it would be kinda cool if Sonic saved Shadow in space instead of him falling to earth. Not only does this avoid potentially rehashing the whole “I forgot again” storyline that Heroes and ShTH covered, but it also might make him more accepting of Sonic as a friend, or at least someone to respect.
• This is very much wishful thinking, but if Rouge and Omega return (either in this movie or in the future), please please PLEASE let them be a trio again, or at the very least friends. I don’t want any of this “Shadow can’t have friends” nonsense. TMOSTH proves how much more likeable he is when he isn’t just edgy and mean.
I think overall, I just really really hope that if Shadow is kept in the series after the third movie, he becomes an anti-hero instead of a villain. I want that version of Shadow back, not the “I’m edgy and I hate everyone” version. We saw a bit of his older self in TMOSTH and Prime (which I need to catch up on), so it gives me a little hope that Shadow in the movie will be more like his old self. And as a side note, I hope he’s like that in Sonic x Shadow Generations. Given its rehashing his backstory, maybe that’s a sign that he will be written to be like his previous characterisation? Who knows. A girl can only dream.

Okay so I’m a bit confused about what’s going on and where people are getting information from. I’m asking you because I trust you. Is sonic 3 filming soon? When is it done? I’ve seen a few Instagram accounts say that it’ll be released this year. Is sonics voice actor coming bback? Is Jim coming back? I know that’s a lot to dump on you but I’m just so confused
Tumblr media
Hello-Hello darlin’!❤️✨
Listen, it’s perfectly okay. I can 100% understand the confusion that’s been going around lately on this film. It may feel overwhelming, but worry. I can explain it to you to the best of my ability. Part of the reason for me taking so long with this post was due to finding the correct sources to each claim (as well as checking them for consistency).
To make it short, sweet, and simple, I’ve answered your questions in little subcategories.
Is Sonic 3 Still Happening?
Yes! The film is in the “Blue Sky” stages. This means that the story is still in its planning phase, but we can expect the script to be done by mid-2023. Concept art and storyboard drafting are usually done in this time as well. (SOURCE). What I can share is that storyboard artist Douglas Olsen has been drafting Sonic 3’s scene since November (SOURCE).
Just know that Sonic 3 will be wild and fun and you will cry (SOURCE).
Is the Knuckles Series still happening?
If it helps, I believe that it is still a project that could happen. There has yet to be anything online (interviews, news articles, and tweets) that implies that the series is not happening.
A while back, it was stated that the writers would like to incorporate elements of Sonic 3 into the Knuckles Series (SOURCE). Since the interview, there has been a lack of information on the series’ update. As of now, we can still expect the series to come out on 2023 (SOURCE). Idris Elba will voice Knuckles in the miniseries (SOURCE).
When Is It Done?
I’m afraid that I don’t necessarily understand this question. Do you mean when the film releases? If so, it releases December 20th, 2024. If you mean filming, then I cannot provide an answer. We do not have an exact date as of yet when filming for Sonic 3 will begin.
I’ve seen a few Instagram accounts say that it’ll be released this year (2023).
Between you and me, I would not trust Instagram accounts that claim to be a “daily/weekly update” on the film’s progress. Accounts like THIS are notorious for spreading misinformation. That, and they don’t supply the sources in which they make their claim with. It’s just clickbait. Also, do watermark all of your Sonic 3 art if possible. Some accounts on Instagram have been reuploading fanart—without consent—and implying that it’s official.
If you are looking for trustworthy sources that tackle Sonic-Related news, I highly recommend following @movie-robotnik-positivity , @tailschannel , and @aawesomepenguin . They will be the most reliable sources to follow when it comes to movie updates. If and for any comic updates of SCU, I’d also recommend following @idwsonicnews as well. (Tagged so that readers can follow these accounts. DM me if you wish for me to remove the mention).
And with that, we can conclude that the film’s release date is still December 24th, 2024.
Is sonics voice actor coming back?
I believe so! Ben has been vocal on how Sonic 3 will be “insane” and how he wishes to include some improved lines.
Is Jim coming back?
I wish that I had a stronger answer to provide you, but I don’t. This is one has yet to be determined. Back in 2022, Mr. Carrey explained that he would consider returning as “Dr. Robotnik” if the script for Sonic 3 was good (SOURCE). If Mr. Carrey does not desire to return, Josh and Pat have stated that Dr. Robotnik will not be recasted (SOURCE). The focus will be directed on other existing Sonic characters.
Is Sonic 3 doing an Sonic Adventure 2 (SA2) Adaptation?
I do not believe that Sonic 3 will be an exact copy of SA 2. Pat Casey and Josh Miller have expressed that the film could take heavy inspiration of SA2 and Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) for the story, but I do not think that it will be an exact copy (SOURCE).
I say “heavy inspiration” because it’s how it’s been for Sonic 1 and 2. The past films took elements of previous games to tell their story.
Who is voicing “Shadow?”
At this moment in time, an actor has yet to be announced. We can potentially expect an actor much later in 2023. Giant Freaking Robot has made a news article in the past saying that it would be Jason Momoa. This is not the case. I would stay clear of GFR since they have a reputation of spreading misinformation as well. Know that a “big name actor” has been chosen to voice Shadow in the film… and that the SCU crew is waiting for the actor to confirm that he still wants the role (SOURCE).
Can we expect AmyRose, Rouge, and/or Big?
I wish that I could provide a stronger answer for this one. As of now, we do not know if either of the three will make an appearance in the third film. The writers stated that as well at the Klamath Comicon event in 2022. What we can conclude is that the writers are fans of each three. Pat and Josh have expressed that they are big—ha!—fans of Big the Cat (SOURCE) and do like Rouge’s character (SOURCE). In a synopsis released in late 2022, it was implied that Amy and Big would make an appearance, but proved to be fake (SOURCE).
As of now, I’m afraid that it is a waiting game. I can completely understand the excitement for Sonic 3. I’m very excited! Just like it was with Sonic 2, we must be careful with where we get our information from and look for consistency. I do hope that this helped with a couple of your questions! If you have any more, don’t hesitate to ask!
