absolutely no hate toward the richonne fandom, i am très happy for you and hope you remain well-fed, but jfc, seeing those gifs on my dash makes the sleeper agent that lives in my internal organs start to roll around and threaten to wake from its slumber bc i Cannot think about anything but how badly i want to be well-fed as a caryl shipper, and i am so resentful at how much this show/ship still has a hold on me. 99% of the time i can suppress it, but the second something reminds me of caryl i start to become unhinged. this ship has permanently rewired the circuits in my brain and i will never be truly free 💀
(if caryl ever gets a sex scene or a proposal i think i will be fundamentally changed as a person 💀)
(i don't even watch towl!! i've just seen the gifs 💀)
(i miss caryl 😔)

caved and finally decided to do a mix of digisona and tamersona art lol
pardon the strange artifacting, glaze was very much not meant to deal with a lot of solid colors, but i hope you can still appreciate the work i put into all this!
cringe is dead and i'm not into necromancy so when my brain said "digisona time" i said "this weekend, for sure"
first pic is art from like two years ago though, we just were not using tumblr at the time so we never ended up posting it here
second is also from like last year when i fronted for the first time in a while. played around with some fun brushes and tbh? might have to play with 'em some more because trying to get digital effects beyond glitchy stuff is a Goal of mine.

hey, do you watch kamen Rider ex aid and kamen rider build?
yep, I've seen them both! Ex-Aid is actually one of my favorites (Poppy 🩷🩷🩷), although admittedly I wasn't super into it until the second half, when it gets less episodic and more into the overarching plot. (I've also heard from other people that they really liked the first half and hated the second, so...it depends on what you like about it, I guess.) some of the execution is messy and it sometimes gets overambitious and doesn't always land, but it has a delightfully weird style/tone that hit me just right, plus a couple of my favorite character arcs! and, like, it's literally a video game creepypasta with superheroes. c'mon.
Build's story was tighter, but my feelings on it are mixed (no pun intended). it did a couple of things that I really really really loved, and also a bunch of things that I really really hated, though some of it is just that I'm not personally into the kind of story it was! 🤷 overall I didn't care for it, but if you're not me then you'll probably like it a lot more than I did. (and I think we can all agree that whoever put that sticker on the back of Rogue's head is a genius beyond mortal comprehension.)

I've had this idea for a while but everytime I actually gave it thought, I'd get frightened last minute. But anyways, with summer coming up (and more free time), I've been considering making an ask blog of sorts just for fun. Does that seem like anything anyone would be interested in
naturally itd be more hc based because well. heh. looks around. gets scared

Isozyme, your hrpf is so tight and snippy, you pace it all so well. Yoy have the plot so well tied to each scene. My question for you is, how do you do it,? Is it a matter of planning the end to end story before starting to writing? Thank you for your ficts!
Thank you!! This is a good question and very gratifying because one of the things I aim for with my fics is to always be compulsively readable no matter where in the story you’re at.
I don’t actually know the story from end-to-end at a high level of detail when I start out. Usually I know about how long the story will take to tell, the setup, and then the next couple things after that. As I write I sort of build the track ahead of me, so I’ll often have a detailed outline for the next scene, a couple bullet points for a handful of scenes after that, and then a sort of general vibe for anything farther away. (With a few exceptions, like I knew Matthew was going to get a supportive phone call from Sid in LMLAY for ages and ages before I finally got to write it.)
Basically my pacing philosophy is that every scene should have a job to do, and ideally also have some side hustles, and I sort of build it up layer by layer as I come up with each upcoming scene.
Let’s spitball a scene as an example. Hypothetically let’s give me a mcmattdrai wip where they’re all training with Scary Gary and in the scene in question Matthew is trying to figure out if Leon is sleeping with Connor. Maybe they’re waiting for the elevator together after a workout, that’s a good setting for two people who sort of know each other to have a stilted conversation. Matthew can joke that his legs are too tired to take the stairs and Leon can complain that he doesn’t know where the stairs are yet (this establishes their different levels of comfort in the setting in addition to giving some character notes). Leon probably also looks hot and sweaty, Matthew can notice that several times during the scene to amp up the sexual tension while he asks Leon awkward questions. A nice thing about elevators is that they have a timer, so I get to control when the elevator arrives and cuts off their conversation; probably right around when Leon reveals that he’s not sleeping with Connor (one mystery tied up, that’s the big job done by the scene) but now Matthew wants to know why Leon’s not sleeping with Connor (another mystery opened). They could keep talking about that inside the elevator but I don’t like that because I think that mystery should stretch out into the next couple of scenes, so to fix that (and add comedy) just as the elevator door is starting to close Connor can obliviously run up and join them. Now Matthew can’t ask Leon any more questions about Connor but he can observe the two of them together and start making some theories. However now that I have Connor in the scene, I should give him something to do from his plotline as well. Maybe I can make him talk about his struggles with a fundraiser for sick kids he’s trying to organize. Naturally Matthew volunteers Leon to help, which leads to Leon volunteering Matthew to also help as revenge, and that leads me neatly into the next scene (3 idiots struggling at event planning together in between their workouts).
I don’t know anything else about this fake story or where it’s going, but the scene is still dense and feels connected to a plot because all the elements are doing some kind of work on behalf of the story. And that’s pretty much how I do it when I’m actually writing something with a lot of plot — come up with what the main goal of a scene is, and then while achieving that goal try to have the stuff happening in the background work to move along side plots and set up the next thing.
Pacing is like a tricky little puzzle and it’s hard but I think it’s worth it when the work pays off; very glad you’re enjoying my hockey fics!

It is actually really tiring to see so many mean jokes about France and people hating France online, especially with some French people cheerfully agreeing to what is sometimes plain falsehood at worst or stereotypical nonsense at best.
I'm not nationalistic. I didn't even grow up on the mainland. I'm not even french on both sides of my family. And yes, a lot of French people suck (case in point: they elected Macron twice), our government sucks, and, yes, historically France colonized other countries and is still fucking with some African countries' governements and selling armament and generally being a lot of the awful things countries which have some power tend to do internationally in this giant mess that our current dominating system is.
Why don't people talk about that if they've got a problem with France instead of making shitty hurtful jokes, I wonder? Why is it okay to dunk on us? We're not pitiful, but by the same metric the USA for instance are not exactly pitiful either, and yet, people mostly make the effort to put some nuance into their criticisms, to reblog pleas for understanding and explanations of the complex nature of things and situations from interested parties.
We are a whole country with many different regional cultures, quirks, dialects and histories. We are a whole population with many different individuals, just like everywhere else. We have poets, and good authors, and great artists just like everywhere else. We are the good and the bad, and are frustrated and dismayed at our government's actions, or at our violent history, just like everywhere else. Where does not have a violent history, and where does not have most people upset about it, after all?
For some reason it seems it is fashionable to make fun of us and that it is socially unacceptable to defend ourselves when it happens. And since this is an USAmerican dominated space, I do have to wonder, and if you're USAmerican you should ask yourself that too: is this the consequence of the passionate anti-French propaganda that took place when our President at the time (rightfully) condemned and criticised the war in Irak? Is this what is being echoed and perpetuated here, like a virus in our collective consciousness, even though it's not conscious?
I would like for people online to treat us with as much grace and attempt to have as much nuance as they would any other country (and to fact check things for goodness' sake). Don't just treat a whole country callously and mispronounce our words like there is no other way to pronounce them that exists and say whatever because you think it's funny to repeat mean jokes or can't be bothered to wonder if this is the truth. We are online too, we see your jokes and sloppy caricatures, be they intended as flattering or not. We may not necessarily love this country, we may not necesseraly identify strongly with it, but we are a part of it and it is a part of us, whether we want it or not, and when you dump everyone in the same crudely made basket, then we're definitely part of it, whether we want it or not.
