(Stuffed) Sharks is fun to me because it is my oldest fic, so it kind of makes sense for it to have the most kudos, but I wrote it several years before the Nimona movie was released and there was a noticeable uptick in people reading it, which was absolutely wild to see since typically I write for MBS which is a small fandom.

Hmm. I definitely try to aim for hopeful endings, so even though things aren't fixed by the end of either This head is a hospital, someone please tend to it. or you're going too fast, you'll burn up soon, things are definitely looking up for Kate. I like to write Kate angst if you couldn't tell.

Do you write crossovers?

I haven't, but I'm not opposed to it! - that being said, I have some crossover-y art ideas that someday I will actually draw.

Have you ever gotten hate on a fic?

No thank goodness. I would almost certainly cry.

Do you write smut?

In theory I'm open to it, in practice I don't really.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge, and I very much hope not.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, it would be very cool. I have thought about trying to translate one of my own before but have never actually tried it.

What’s your all-time favorite ship?

I must say, I do enjoy a good ship, but I'm not sure I have an all-time favorite? Different ones are special to me for different reasons. But I might have to answer Korrasami because their relationship and the ending of the show were so so important to me as a queer kid who was just starting to figure that out.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?

Ough. I don't want to put any of my Space Opera AU stuff in this category because that would make me sad. So I will just say I have a number of partially-written fics that I forget about and who knows if I will actually finish them.

What are your writing strengths?

Jokes aside, I think I have interesting ideas, and there are certain flavors/styles of description I enjoy writing.

I think it's interesting! I would probably be too anxious to do it, no matter how well I knew the other language (though to be fair I google words and phrases in English to double check that they are things people say)

My friends and I plotted and partially wrote Doctor Who fanfic in the format of a season of the show/episode scripts, so I think Doctor Who. The first fandom I published a fic for was Nimona.

oooh this is hard, I like so many of them for so many different reasons.

Every time I type out an answer, I go "wait, actually maybe a different one?"

actually, never mind, I'm gonna post the uriel rambling now. uh. tw for mentions of child abuse.

uriel clements my favourite little guy of all time ever. i rewatched the beach episode today and OUGH. tiny little freak who was made in a lab to be annoying and has been treated So Badly all of the time by everyone. he's like if jean-paul was fourteen and LARPed as a CEO. i want to give him a hug.

like it's inherently very fucking funny to imagine this little eidetic memory motherfucker following you around popping his head up around rocks and suchlike like a jack-in-the-box but the beach episode is a comedic take on the characters' authentic personalities. their traits are exaggerated for comedy. beach episode is distilled characterisation! this is the same stealth-factor that made him come off as creepy in canon. and with the later implications that uriel was physically abused this becomes also very fucking sad. guy who melts into the background when you look at him because it's not safe for him to stand out. guy who decides to express "I like you" by [stalks you] and "I want an ice cream" by [stares at you], in light of Isaac's fucking attitude (spoilers but he Really Does Not Care what his kids want), becomes guy who doesn't express anything he wants because he has learnt that no one cares. my god. and on the 'shitawful social skills' and 'very good at quickly becoming unobtrusive' front, i mean. there's Also the fact that he is used as a tape recorder by his dad. more notably he is used as a bug. little guy who is constantly inserted into situations where his very presence and purpose are Infuriating to Everyone because he is Fucking Spying On Them so he's just accustomed to everyone hating him. made in a lab to be annoying (;-;).

just. idk. i think there's something particularly insidious about casting your child in a role (tool of corporate espionage) that will inevitably draw hostility and make everyone view him as "that little bugger" and an obstacle to be eliminated. i think that's a devastatingly effective manner to make sure no one recognises him for what he is: a kid in an abusive situation. they're so busy pre-emptively countering Uriel the Spy that no one thinks "hold up, that's a 14 year old and this family dynamic is FUCKED". it's vaguely similar to how heartbreaker from worm uses his kids as tools of violence, though that's much more extreme.

and now thinkigm about how eve in canon was the one to go "hold up, that's a 14 year old in need of medical assistance" and reach out to him. and. OUGH... eve... ;-; <3 i love you eve i would also follow you around for 3 hours <3

and this already shows! thinking about how beach episode uriel tagged along after eve so much and eventually gave her his number because 'she seemed friendly' and thinking about distilled characterisation and thinking about how uriel Still pissed eve off So Much but she humoured him the way an average adult would an average child, because she's a nice person, and FUCK. little guy for whom being treated like a kid instead of a corporate weapon is so revolutionarily kind that he is Never Ever Gonna Let This Person Go because they're clearly one in a million. I'll have to rewatch the main canon, but I do wonder whether any of Uriel's fascination with Eve was just liking for someone who showed him kindness in accordance with nurse bot procedures. This could tie in to the "no one cares what he wants" thing; guy who digs up blackmail on you to force you into being nice to him and/or help him out of a shit situation because it doesn't even cross his mind that you'd do so without being forced. [Cough.] Kenzie Martin energy. I so badly want to make them go panopticon vs panopticon.

I think beach episode exposes a very real loneliness in Uriel. And a very real desire to be helpful. Which now has me wondering how much of that was biologically hard-coded into him to make him more obedient...

OKAY so going back over I found the guides I like for Old English pronunciations because I'm not good at it and can never remember how to pronounce things. So on the poll I was gushing in tags about where the word orange came from. In Old English we just used yellow-red or red-yellow, or technically the word was "geoluread." In today's English there's a few ways it could be read. "Geo" would likely use a "j" soundish like "geology." "Lu" and "luh" are fairly similar in modern and old English so just "uh" like "put." "Read" could be "red" or "reed."

SO I'm probably butchering how I say things (like I said still practicing) and explaining but this ramble is for fun so 'tis fine. I think the "eo" would be considered a front vowel so the "g" is said similarly to our "y" sound is "yes." "Eo" is better explained by this specific area of the website I'm on right now (lots I'll just between but this one has examples) as "like the 'e' in bed gliding to the 'o' in 'cough'" so "eh-aw" almost? Or the "aw" and "ough" in "awesome" and "cough" are identical in my accent (Texan accents do that fairly often.) Then of course the "luh" sound, and then "ea" is described as "ai" in fail. I saw fail differently from the speaker but from other descriptions and guides it seems similar to "ey-ah." Not exactly but I suck st describing things.

Y'all. "Geoluread" put together ("g" "eo" "lu" "read"). The best I can visualize it is "yeh-oh" "luh" "rey-ahd"

When we say yellow or at least the way I've grown up talking there's the slightest hint of an "o" between "eh" and "l." Just from how your move your mouth (same reason what did you becomes didja and what you becomes whatcha." Voicing the "o" in "eol" snf NOT voicing it has your mouth move almost the exact same way.

Geoluread is spelled so strangely to me but it's LITERALLY JUST YELLOW RED. IT'S THE SAME THING AS IT WAS IN THE 11TH CENTURY LMAO

And this also is cool to me (I am bored in class with nothing to do have been typing for well over ten minutes about a fruit word) is English has evolved a LOT but spelling and lexicon seem to have changed a lot more than pronunciation from Old English. This word is hard for me to pronounce because (and true for a lot of Old English words) the vowels have you holding your tongue a lot further back than speaking Modern English. That's a fun quirk I like about today's English—compared to a lot of similar languages (I.e. Spanish and French I believe? Been a bit since I've looked into this) we have a tongues naturally resting a lot higher (on roof of mouth vs bottom). And Modern English seems to pronounce sounds with the tongue closer to or touching the teeth than Old English does. I know of the Great Vowel Shift so I'm wondering if that whole 15-16th century language drama was the cause? I have done research on it but I don't have IPA Symbols memorized yet so it's hard to tell what the shift was responsible for and what is just the passage of time changing things.

So this is what I do if I get bored enough at school apparently. Lose my mind over pronunciations of words centuries ago because I saw one (1) poll about whether orange the color or orange the fruit came first (it was the fruit. Wasn't until Margaret Tudor around a century later I think that it was recorded to describe a color.)

i'm just.. listing a couple of notes i have on this because i want to get it out of my head so i don't forget

all of the winx would be unique characters because i feel like that makes sense? i'm not sure if the specialists would be unique or just rare but i definitely wouldn't make them common. i'm leaning more on unique though since in this "au" there would be other characters besides the winx/specialists to fill in the rare and common groups! their roles and elements would also be heavily based on canon!

bloom: i'm not entirely sure which weapon(s) she would use but she's definitely a fire element and warrior class character. i think i'd take a lot of inspiration from plitvice's stats and abilities! so bloom can be used as a main dps, main support, etc and just generally is a very all-around kind of character! her normal attack inflicts damage and heals party members. bloom isn't the tankiest but her special ability would make her tankier. like canon, bloom would be the "strongest" so she's extremely useful as your main dps!

stella: staff user, light element, and support class! i'm thinking stella could be either warrior or support but i really like the idea of her being support! her weapon skill would "blind" all enemies and essentially down them for a few seconds. stella would pair really well with the other winx, especially bloom and musa. she's a bit tankier than bloom and her chain skill would increase her and her party members' damage so she's a really good combo with a more dps based character.

flora: basket user, earth element, and support class! naturally, flora would be all support. i akin her similar to loraine; very good support but not great in damage or tankiness. flora would definitely need to be backed by tankier characters that would distract enemies so she can stay busy healing everyone. her special ability allows her to heal party members even further and her chain skill gives her a major defense boost (and boosts party members' defense too!).

musa: bow/basket user, dark element, and ranged class (or claw user, dark element, and warrior class)! i'm heavily inspired by eleanor, specifically her weapon which is literally a harp. i think musa works best as a ranged class character that focuses more on attack damage and defense though! her special ability would nullify part of the enemy's damage for her and party members. musa works best with support and tank characters like stella/flora and tecna!

tecna: bow/rifle user, basic element, and tanker class. tank city babie!! tecna is the tankiest member (alongside aisha) and she works best with ranged characters like musa. tecna can take a lot of damage and most of her skills would be either nullifying damage or increasing defense for herself and her party members. tecna has the highest shield and you can really only benefit from increasing that or her defense. i'm very inspired by sohee and the future princess for tecna! i think a wild mix of them would create the perfect tecna character.

aisha: one-handed sword/staff user, water element, and warrior class. i think aisha (along with bloom) would be one of the most versatile characters out of the winx. you could build her for dps, support, tankiness, etc. you really can't go wrong with her, and any path you decide to take, she'll be worth putting on your team. for support, i think she would mainly focus on increasing damage or defense. but overall, aisha is a very jack-of-all-trades sort of character and you could go in a lot of different directions for her!

SCREAMING

sky: one-handed sword + shield user, basic element, and warrior class. do i even need to explain this? sky is your basic knight kind of character! he has good dps and defense, not great for support, but good enough to be on a team. i'm really inspired by aisha (the aisha in guardian tales not the aisha in winx! yes there are two aishas) for him! for instance, aisha having the moral booster that increases party members' attack? very sexy and i think i can give sky a Little treat. i don't want him to be boring yknow?

brandon: two-handed sword, earth element, and tank class. brandon would be very similar to sky, just a lot tankier. he would have a good amount of dps that can very easily be increased through accessories and cards making him suitable for main dps. but he absolutely shines as your main tank and support! brandon would have similar "moral boosting" effects like sky, where it would increase either damage or defense. i think he would also have a nice shield amount that would increase when he's hit.

timmy: bow/rifle user, light element, and ranged class! once again, i'm very inspired by sohee (is it obvious i love her). i think timmy would be your classic ranged character tbh! he gives a good amount of damage and he pairs well with tankier characters like brandon. timmy would definitely have a "shield on battle start" effect as he isn't the tankiest character and could get knocked out of the fight pretty early. with timmy, your best bet is to make sure he's on a team with tanks/warriors and at least one healer. timmy is useful, but he's most useful when you keep him away from the main action. his special ability would be increasing shields for himself and party members!

riven: oof i'm having a tough time on his weapon because riven is pretty versatile in canon, but i think he'd be a one-handed sword user, dark element, and warrior class! i'm not going to lie, i'm definitely inspired by noxia for him aljdghajdgl i think riven having some effect that could make enemies turn into allies for a few seconds, is Hot as hell and he deserves that? it's also a little ironic given his history with getting controlled. but anyway, riven works best as main dps or a tanker! i don't think a lot of his effects would give any support and as such he definitely needs to be on a team with support characters.

helia: yet another very versatile character! there aren't any weapons in guardian tales that could be similar to his string weapon in canon, so i think i'd make him a bow/one-handed sword user, light element, and either ranged or support class. i'm having a hard time thinking about what he'd be best in and honestly, i think he's very similar to aisha (winx aisha) in that he's very jack-of-all-trades and could be in a lot of different roles depending on how you build him and the other party members. any support would be attack or health based, skills would down enemies, and dps would be high enough for him to easily be a main dps. i think with helia, it really just depends on the other party members! helia would pair well with tanks and support characters!

nabu: staff user, light element, and support class. the main support out of the specialists is here!! nabu would be the main healer and has some effects that boost attack. while he can be built as your main dps, he works best as a support character. his chain skill would boost his attack and his special ability would heal the shit out of party members and boost their attack. nabu works well with all sorts of characters but definitely pairs well with warrior and tank classes! nabu is just your classic support that works well in any scenario!

i'm absolutely screaming ik most people will have absolutely no idea what i'm talking about BUT if you do, please let me know what you think and if you have different ideas!! i'd especially like to hear about musa and riven cause i had some trouble with them.

design-wise i think i'd keep most of their canon color schemes! bloom's would have darker blue (kind of like her bloomix) with some red gradients mixed in (but not too much because her attacks would be red). stella would have more orange and white with some blueish silver gradients. flora would still be very pink but she would have a lot more green mixed in! tecna would be a good mix of blue, purples, and greens (so like canon). aisha would have a mix of blues and greens (together too not just separately). musa would be more red and darker purples!

sky would still have his classic blue but i'd throw in some silvers too! brandon would have his green but maybe add some yellow and blues? timmy would be yellow and blue (plus some orange)! riven would have darker reds and very deep purples, contrasted with some black gradients. helia would have a lot of neutral colors (like beige, whites, black, etc)... nabu would keep his classic purple and i'd add some yellow too!

when building teams with just them in mind, you'd definitely need flora, nabu, bloom, or helia on the team. flora and nabu are the main healers of their respective groups and bloom and helia, depending on how you build them, can offer enough healing support. tecna and brandon are the respective tanks with aisha and sky falling close behind. you could also build riven as a tank if you absolutely need to! when it comes to main dps, bloom, aisha, riven, and helia would be the best options. like i said bloom would be the strongest so ideally, you would use her however she can be replaced by one of the others!

He literally spends the entire day bullying people. He’s kicking sandcastles, getting sand in people’s picnics- he doesn’t care.

When he’s not being a public menace, he’s out trying to surf. He’s frustratingly competent. No one knows where he learned how to surf.

Because he’s an IDIOT he thought his chemical-bleached skin was too good for sunscreen. Wrong. 

Killer Croc:

He literally can’t go swimming in a somewhat crowded area without some teen mistaking him for a sea monster or some shit. It really sucks, because Waylon is the best swimmer of the rogues, and he genuinely enjoys getting into the water (He does get to venture out for a few hours once it gets dark!)

Actually, CAN Waylon even do anything at a public beach without freaking people out??? What the fuck???

He tags along with Basil and they go explore the shops together. He doesn’t particularly care for the beach, but unlike SOME PEOPLE (Eddie) Jervis doesn’t sit around and bitch about it, so he looks for something to do.

Jerv eventually gets bored, so he spends the rest of the day doing some light people watching. There’s SO many different hats in one place! It’s fascinating!

He 100% falls asleep at around noon and he has to get woken up several times to reapply sunscreen before his white pasty-ass burns.

As usual, he has to be the responsible one. He brought sunblock, reminded everyone to bring their towels, and he brought extra towels because he knows people will forget. And yes, even though he was teased relentlessly for it, he DID provide the beach umbrella.

He’s got a nice shirt, some Gucci shades, and a pair of beach trousers. He will NOT get in the water. “Harley, I am serious. Do you know what’s in that water? I will not get these clothes wet.”

Finally… she can get some proper tanning done…

At first, he GENUINELY doesn’t understand how he got talked into coming. There’s nothing for him to do except read (Which he could have just done at home)... Maybe if he walked along the shore he’ll find a beached jellyfish. Or a dead body… Alas, no such luck. What a terrible day… 

That is… until he comes across the seagulls. He is fascinated. No, enamoured with them. They have so much potential… for anarchy… he’ll find a flock and feed them bits of his sandwich until more join in and they start to follow him around… and then he’ll throw the rest of his food into a large group of beach-goers and watch the ensuing chaos.

He REFUSES to explain his good mood, but the others begin to suspect it may have something to do with the influx of people leaving the beach at around noon.

Harv’s burnt skin is very sensitive to heavy sunlight, so he’ll just throw on some sandals and he’ll hop around the bars near the beach and watch some sports. Once it gets darker and cooler, he’ll rejoin the rest of the rogues.
