Things that really get my gears turning with regards to Xehanort visiting La Cite des Cloches pre-DDD:
Xehanort visiting it directly after the MoM's speech to him about "false light" and misguided love, and this causing him to finally grapple with his conflicted feelings towards Player. Specifically when observing what Frollo has been doing to Quasi all his life (aka imprisoning him away from others with claims of "it's for your own protection.") Maybe it's after visiting this world that Xehanort starts to refer to his childhood home as a "prison". <- Also could tie into YMX telling Sora his heart is a prison in DDD. Like I know it was Sora or someone else who said the line first but when YMX repeats it back to Sora I gotta imagine he's also thinking about his own relationship to "prisons".
The dramatic irony of Xehanort looking at Frollo and not realizing that he himself is going to become a Frollo later in life. "Judge Claude Frollo longed to purge the world of vice and sin / And he saw corruption everywhere except within."
Also my god the Frollo + Quasi, Master Xehanort + Vanitas parallels. "Even this foul creature may yet prove one day to be / Of use to me."
I'm also thinking about how Frollo was the one to name Quasimodo and his name means "half-formed". Xehanort's name can be an anagram of X and "no heart". And also there's Xehanort giving Vanitas his name, which is a word associated with death and futility. Just a bunch of characters being given demeaning names lol.
Going back to the "false light" stuff, I feel like Frollo is one of the best examples of that among the Disney villains. As Xehanort says to the MoM after his world tour: "They believe themselves to be moral and virtuous, but it's all an act." So if you needed Xehanort to see "false light" in action, this world is just perfect for that.
Please. Imagine. One-on-one Xehanort vs. Frollo boss fight (Frollo can wield the sword from the end of the movie). And then maybe in the second phase Frollo summons a Heartless minion to fight alongside him like the Clayton + Stealth Sneak boss in KH1 (depending on if the Emblem Heartless are still inexplicably around after KHDR, I guess. If not, we can just have the first phase and nothing else). Xehanort is like "Look, okay, yes, maybe I am partially beating you up as a means of venting some of the complicated feelings I have towards my guardian, but also you in particular just suck, you're a danger to everyone around you, and I want you gone from this world forever." And then this marks the second time that Xehanort has just straight up murdered a guy who also happens to represent what he'll become later in life (he is, unfortunately, starting to grow numb to the sensation).
Honestly, realistically, it would probably make more sense for Xehanort not to interfere with the worlds at all, but...I just really want more one-on-one Disney villain boss fights in these games.
Like, seriously, in a theoretical KHDR sequel, this world would probably be my #1 pick just because there's so many layers to its relevancy.

Ok seriously I really hope AidaIro are aware of what they’re doing with Mitsuba and Kou because between
- “I’ll die so I can be with you forever”
- the aquarium date and yes they used the ‘date’ word
- making a scene between Nene and Mitsuba talking about relationships (romantic for Nene btw so the parallel is kinda HUGE)
and this is only the surface of it
I swear if at the end they’re just like “THEY SEEM TO BE VERY GOOD FRIENDS ;DDD” I will stop believing in anything

Saw your tags:
I have a theory I wanted to outsource, and so came here. :DDD
CC often uses biblical language in his mytharc episodes, often at odds with his own messaging. And I was wondering... is he trying to use biblical phraseology in order to access a quick and dirty mythological scope for the average viewing audience? Drawing from his knowledge of Catholicism? Or trying to put a bunch of disparate parts together and see what sticks?
I do think his niche interest is in fate; and though that's a concept that can be done really well-- Monday, for example, or the concept of Mulder and Scully as a fated duo, for other example-- I don't know if it works how he posits.
The problem with mythological (or any kind of) fate, I believe (and I'm spit balling now), is that it must carefully adhere to a set of rules with definite, distinct guidelines. If this, then that. If that, then this. Broken only if the characters change their own fates by changing who they are, etc. Those concepts are fun to play with for curses or... etc., etc.; but it doesn't quite work, I believe, with a constantly shifting mytharc.
In short: I can see the CC vision; but believe the reliance on really archaic religious wording kind of... hindered? his message. I mean, who is going to take a zealot spouting judgment day seriously if they sound two hundred years older than the very texts they believe in?
It's a two-layered problem: using a medium-- religion in this case-- out of its proper context to give a mystical flavor to your script but not following its rules; then mashing it with other mythological ideas without following those rules. Thus, you ultimately get Existence that has three separate ideas for the conception of the magical or miraculous or doomsday baby. Pick your poison.
tldr: The tools, be they monsters or mythology, must be wielded with proper care.
Or so I posit. ;)))
I'm not well-versed in Christianity - or any religion - cause I don't have much interest in it. Many of the parallels he's drawn I've only become aware of after the fact because fans were analyzing episodes. So I neither know what his messaging is nor what it's supposed be.
It often feels to me like he's trying to squeeze in too many ideas and concepts - including religion and religious symbolism. Like you said. He mashes everything together and hopes for the best. I mean the whole Biogenesis arc is that, isn't? The way Mulder and CSM are laying there look like Jesus on the cross.
I know I read about CC and religion once but I don't remember his stance on it anymore. I'm not sure if he's really interested in fate as a concept or if it's more like prophecies. I very much agree that his biblical and oftentimes metaphorical and allegorial wording doesn't always work.

The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Perfect Lace Bra
Tumblr media
Ladies, it's time to get laced up and feel fabulous! There's nothing quite like slipping into a perfectly fitting lace bra that makes you feel confident and beautiful. But let's be real, finding the perfect one can be a daunting task with so many options out there. Don't worry, we've got you covered! In this ultimate guide, we'll take you through everything you need to know to choose the perfect lace bra for your body type and personal style. So sit back, relax and get ready to elevate your lingerie game!
What are the Different Types of Lace Bras?
There are a few different types of lace bras , so it can be hard to figure out which one is right for you. Here are the four main types:
Strapless Bras: These bras have no straps and are meant to be worn without any support. They're perfect if you want a natural look or if you're petite and don't want to wear a bra that will lift your breasts.
Bustiers: A Bustier is like a strapless bra with supportive straps. They give you more shape and support, making them ideal if you have larger breasts or if you want to wear a bra all day long.
Bandeau Bras: Bandeau bras are similar to bustiers, but they have supportive cups that tie in the back. This makes them perfect if you want a sexy, minimally-supported look.
Cup Bras: Cup bras are the most popular type of bra and they come in many different styles and sizes. They usually have supportive bands around the top of the cup and they're great for everyday wear.
How to Measure Your Bra Size
1. Measure your bust size: Using a soft measuring tape, measure the circumference of your chest right above your breasts. Make sure to keep the tape parallel to the floor and round off any fractions that you get to the nearest inch.
2. Determine your band size: Subtract your band size from your bust measurement to determine how many inches are between them (e.g., if you have a 34-inch bust, subtract 32 inches). This number will give you an indication of what bra size you should be wearing - for example, if there is 2 inches difference then you would likely be wearing a 34B or 36A bra depending on other factors like body type or brand sizing variations.
3. Calculate cup size: Now that you know what band size is appropriate for you, use this chart as reference to calculate which cup size would fit best – it’s important not only for comfort but also support! For instance, if there’s a 4-inch difference between measurements then chances are that you need something in the DDD/E range (4 = DD/E).
How to Find the Perfect Fit for a Lace Bra
Finding the perfect fit for a lace bra is something that every woman should take seriously. Not only will it make you feel more comfortable, but it can also help to improve your overall figure and accentuate your curves. To find the right size and style of lace bra, start by measuring yourself around the underbust area with a tape measure or ruler. It is important to record this measurement accurately in order to ensure that you purchase a bra that fits properly. Once you have this number, use an online sizing chart to determine what size of cup and band are suitable for your body type. Lastly, when shopping for your ideal lace bra try on multiple styles and sizes until you find one with good support, coverage, comfort level and flattering design features such as straps or bows. With some patience and dedication finding the perfect fit for a beautiful lace bra is achievable!
Conclusion
Finding the perfect lace bra can be a daunting task, but with these tips in mind, it should be much easier for you to find the perfect fit. Remember to shop around and compare different brands before making your purchase; the right bra will feel comfortable and support your bust perfectly. And don't forget to take into account what style of dress you plan on wearing the bra with- lacy bras are often seen as more formalwear. So make sure to have all of your bases covered when shopping for a lace bra!

Parallels?
Because I’ve seen some people wonder if Kairi (and Lea’s) issue in KHIII, was that she maybe didn’t train as hard as she should have, instead taking time to eat ice cream and stuff, when perhaps she shouldn’t have taken such breaks? Which I think is a bit harsh. But I guess where people are coming from, is that we didn’t see any training from them, but just saw them sitting around talking and eating ice cream. Really, I think that’s a problem with cutscene direction. But if this is a thing, I was thinking it might be sort of true of DDD Sora, as well, and thus a SoKai parallel: in that Sora didn’t take his DDD adventure very seriously (in that he didn’t think there was any danger that time around), and that had disastrous effects for him, like Kairi’s KHIII adventure had disastrous effects for her.

If quadratum (I’m massacring the spelling here but bear with me) is basically the final fantasy-ification of Shibuya then there could be a quadratum version of Joshua separate from the one we saw in ddd since he’s from another world but the same guy for the most part. My dude was already weirdly characterized in ddd, so why not imply there are multiple versions of gay idiot Jesus? (/hj). But more seriously, I think that be something that be cool and would answer the question of if quadratum is the world from twewy idk.
Quite frankly I just like to see Joshua in unreal engine graphics.
(Also for a cross over idea; Joshua is the nobody and Haz is the heartless)
This is all in good fun but yeah. Sorry for bothering!!!
gamer anon *cracks knuckles* never apologize for sending me asks you’re just giving me an excuse to talk more forever ehehehe. also you spelled quadratum right anyway so 👍
facts i’d love to see updated 3D (the fact that josh and shiki didn’t get 3D models in neo??? heartbreaking!!! wdym voiced dialogue scenes only???)
as i’ve said i don’t actually think we’re gearing up for another twewy kh crossover (or at least not one that’s canon to twewy, but maybe one that’s canon to kh, like what they do with ff), but i sure would love a casual one
i’d love to see josh, or mr h, or minamimoto, just because these are the three twewy characters who have been canonly shown to hop between parallel universes. i guess it wouldn’t be too ridiculously far fetched for josh to hop all the way to a universe in which kh is canon. ok, fine, that is kind of wild. even so, it would be fun.
and yeah, he could be weirdly characterized, bc all the ‘another day’ versions of characters are all just slightly off, or their traits exaggerated, for the sake of entertainment. i’m a big fan of his kh characterization maybe purely just because it feels like there’s some sort of resolution and kindness between him and the others that there never was in the source material. (like when neku’s like ‘so you’re coming back with us, right? it’s your home too we’re still friends’ and josh is just stunned and is like ‘thanks…’ that would never happen in twewy but that’s the magic of kh it was such a good moment) even if that wasn’t the real canon josh, it was nice to imagine. like reading a fanfiction.
and i think it’s safe to say twewy fans watching the kh3 secret ending for the first time lost their minds, and i think it’s safe to say we’d lose our minds again if they even casually hinted at the presence of a twewy character in quadratum. or even if not, the nod to twewy by using that location and with the 109 building being called 104? it definitely wasn’t a coincidence they were thinking about twewy even if it was just an homage
like the box art background sky for neo being the same as that of kh3. nomura himself (i think) was like ‘it’s just a coincidence it means nothing’ ok but even if it doesn’t he’s aware that people have made a connection bfhghhhfg
anyway bhdhsjsndjsbshshsh i also wanna see our favorite sewer rat in modern fully rendered and detailed 3D with his not-really-canon angel wings out even if there’s no reason for it

Do any of the mods have Shadow Dedede headcanons?
Mod Ribbon: will do!
- After Dark Mind’s death, the King of Shadows maintains his rulership over the Mirror World with an iron fist, inspiring healthy amounts of fear and respect alike from his people. He does take his rulership very seriously and genuinely does his damndest to keep the peace and look after the populace, though.
- In contrast to his prime counterpart’s wild temper and goofy attitude, he reacts to nearly everything with stoic silence and/or deadpan seriousness. It takes quite a bit to rile him up, which makes him particularly well-suited to dealing with certain other mirror worlders who are prone to being - to put it bluntly - a pain in the ass (DMK, Dart, etc.)
- He carries a very polite, grim and intimidating presence that tends to leave folks ill at ease, although he’s fairly soft-spoken and rarely actually loses his temper. His fury is certainly not something to be trifled with, though.
- He cares little for more flamboyant trappings of royalty and luxury and big displays of power, and tends to mostly keep to himself. Due to just how reserved and secretive he is, rarely appearing in the public eye, there’s plenty of rumours and other gossip surrounding him circulated among the folk of the Mirror World as a result - some more fanciful than others. He generally pays them little mind.
- His combat style is moreso focused on finesse and technique than simply brute strength. Unlike—say, the blunt simplicity of a warhammer—a one-handed, long-handled battle axe requires equal amounts of strength, timing and precision in order to use effectively in battle.
- This is more of a theory than anything else, but during the events of Triple Deluxe, SDDD is possessed - by something or another. He’s described as a mindless automaton who constantly lashes out in rage and misery, his stomach bursts open exactly like possessed!DDD’s does, he’s got some kind of connection with Dark Mind (who has a similar design/parallels to Dark Matter), plus the entirety of King D-Mind’s existence and what exactly that could imply + the line “[his] true opponent is the darkness in his own heart”, all strongly gives me that impression. (although all that may just be me overthinking things lmao)
- He was used more or less as a (literal) puppet ruler by Dark Mind during the events of KATAM, possibly kept in a possessed state or otherwise neutralized in some form while DM took over.
- He’s fairly close with Dark Meta Knight, in an,, odd sort of way. Neither would admit to calling the other a ‘friend’, being the hardasses they are, but they do enjoy each other’s company quite a bit.

Oh yeah I read that fanfic! It was good. =) Lol well I have to admit. The Cancer bit was inspired a lot by RBA. I still have it on my mind whenever Cancer cell pops up. XP Plus I had to keep 1146 and Cancer antagonistic philosophical buddies and the idea if Cancer being in love w/a born ‘useless’ WBC 3803 highly amuses me somehow.
My favorite bit is 1146 being a very protective scary RBC who doesn’t take crap from anyone - Because Killer T can’t hit him now. Xp On the flipside he yells at 3803 a lot more. On the other flipside the Killer T, NK, WBC trio is incredibly irritating to Killer T. Unlike 1146 who treats NK and him like work friends at best. 3803 and NK became close friends and they both annoy him so much and team up against him. 3803 doesn’t mean to. She tries to get everyone to get along. But she’s either up in her own annoying antics or defending NK as a good kind person. Unless NK thinks 3803 really deserves to be reprimanded, NK will typically use any time Killer T acts mean to 3803 as an excuse to beat him up. The beauty of their friendship is very exhausting to Killer T. Gets worse when 5100 and 4201 talk smack to him in their own ways. In the end 1146 ends up, ironically being that weird guy he complains to and who listens when he’s not defending 3803 from him (yay for Killer T in this au. He finally sort of has a non immune cell friend in RBC 1146. It’s mostly a friendly antagonistic one at best since 1146 hates it when anyone hurts 3803’s feelings. But one time they almost drank tea together before Killer T’s pride woke up,and decided that’s too wussy of a drink).
4989 would eventually want to meet 3803 after hearing so many rumours. 3803 is so unusual looking (still has that red hair and gold eyes) and friendly, he can’t bring himself to feel intimidated (she has that affect on the typical non immune. Unfortunately it lets the more jerk ones feel braver about insulting or disrespecting her. That it until 1146 pops up to put them in their place). Right away he tries to enlist her in helping him get to high places for better areas to slingshot his packages to far away targets. Sometimes his friends will look up and see 3803 princess carrying 4989 or giving him a piggy back ride as she leaps from one place to another. Trying to follow his directions to what ever spot he wants to get but can’t on his own. 2626  and 2048 think it’s awesomely funny and almost want to ask 3803 to carry them around too. 2001 and 1146 put their foot down and try to get 4989 to stop asking 3803 to be his vehicle of transportation for things he shouldn’t be doing. It doesn’t work. At one point 3803 has carried every single member of the RBC squad except 1146. He refuses to burden her in anyway (and is naturally embarrassed to be in any vulnerable looking position with anyone. Even more embarrassed about being embarrassed about wanting to appear strong for everyone all the time. Probably even more embarrassed about being held by her. He imagined it once and it caused him to get so overwhelmed wth so much delight he freaked out and ran the entire circulation in record breaking time. Maybe that’s how he found he had a crush).
One time a building collapsed on her while she was protecting 1146 and pushed him out if danger. He immediately freaked out and started using his insane RBC strength to lift huge debris out of the way, screaming her name in terror. He found her barely awake and unable to move. He picked her up and carried her in his arms calling and begging for any nearby Macrophage to notice (big battle going on). When no one could afford to, he ran through a war zone to get her to the infirmary. Hours later when he’s told she’ll be okay, he just starts crying in relief because he realizes he has all this pent up fear someday her dangerous job will take her away from him and he’ll be the reason why.
Dendretic gives him a cute picture of her as a thank you and get well. When 3803 finds out she asks if 1146 is all right if she has picture if him too.
When they get a lot closer and more comfortable together. 1146 will sometimes sweep 3803 off her feet and tease her the big strong WBC is being coddled by a puny weak RBC. 3803 will tease back she’s the puny one in height and there’s nothing weak about a RBC. She lets him do it because she knows he’s shy about his feelings and is always concerned for her since she always ends up with the most dangerous assignments despite being naturally physically weaker then the average WBC. It’s why he’s always uplifting her spirits and calling her amazing for being able to do what she does despite any obstacles she’s facing. Ironically 1146 gets a rep for being a fearsome RBC who can tame the beserk WBC (ironic, it was kind of the other way around since he’s gotten a lot more laidback and personal thanks to her). He strikes a fierce appearance just standing there or walking while a chattering or sleepy 3803 cuddles comfortably in his arms. In reality in 3803 and her friends eyes, 1146 just looks like a happy adoring goof doing his best to make his friend’s harsh life a little more comfortable and feel appreciated.
~~~
So many great head canons and situations here! If I could start a new fanfic with all of these ideas, I would so totally do it. As it is, however:
“I am not enjoying this.”
A huff.
“Seriously, 1146, I am not.”
An eyeroll.
“... if it makes you feel any better, I didn’t ask her.”
3803′s eyes twitched and she narrowly avoided dropping 2001 flat on his butt.
“If I remember correctly, you wanted to know how it felt like to be bridal carried.”
1146 pinched the bridge of his nose and prayed to whatever deity out there that he would make it through this cycle without exploding.
“2001, tell me--” Before 1146 could finish, 2001 interjected with his two cents.
“it’s really comfy in her arms, actually.” 2001 looked up at his comrade and let a small smirk grace his lips. “Now that I think about it... maybe 3803 should carry you next.”
1146 smacked a palm against his forehead and pulled the brim of his cap low over his eyes.
No, his cell membrane was not blushing, thank you very much. He’s just having a headache, dammit!
~~~
In all seriousness, I love the parallels that you’re drawing here and the relationships that you have described really fit well with the characters. I can totally see 3803 being friends with NK and I can definitely say that 4989 would definitely take advantage of the transmigration routes--especially if that weird WBC 3803 were to help him out! :DDD

Tumblr media
By the end of KH3 Sora has become aware of his "fate". He says he knows that it will lead him "home". YMX told Sora he was done, and his time in this world was over. We see in the secret ending that he is not home, and is, I think, in the "abyss." Where no one should be able to find him. So why would the intro monologue suggest his mental state when he seems to be in a not great situation?
Sora's home is Destiny Islands. I believe Sora, Kairi, and Riku and their name choices reflect the island itself, land in the middle of sea and sky. The island itself then, is Riku. Their home. So one of the intended meanings of this statement, I think, is that Sora now knows that what he feels for Riku is beyond friendship, or romance: it's fate. He knows that they are fundamentally connected, and even though they are seperate they are a greater whole. They were destined to be by each others' side. He shows that he kind of instinctively knows this in DDD, but he doesn't yet understand the scope. But Joshua gets it.
Tumblr media
Even though Sora is lost in the deepest darkness and no one should be able to find him, Riku does. They are seperated, but they aren't. This is what the Power of Waking was intended for, traversing hearts to reach worlds. Riku was led by Sora's heart. Sora also used the power correctly when he opened the door to the Realm of Darkness following Riku and Aqua's hearts, and when he woke Ventus.
When they do their Mark of Mastery exam, which Sora only agrees to after hearing Riku question if he himself is still worthy to wield, it culminates in Riku literally unlocking Sora's heart. Once Sora is freed from the Armored Ventus Nightmare [which I think was Vanitas possessing Ventus's armor] he sinks deeper into his heart's darkness. Riku picks up Sora's dropped Kingdom Key, which was once his, to do this, instead of using Way to the Dawn. Keyblades could be said to be the key to ones heart, and he gave his to Sora. He then used it to unlock Sora's heart, freeing him. This is literal and metaphorical, and I think this is why, in KH3, Sora can now Formchange instead of using Drive Forms. Drive Forms incurred a penalty for overuse in Anti Form. Formchanges do not, and I think this is Sora's true power as a keyblade wielder, the ability to change the manifestations of his keyblade, and to be able to wield so fluidly. Which is why they no longer incur a penalty, because Sora is using his powers as a keyblade wielder properly for the first time. Final Form has been replaced with Ultimate Form, which is Sora's true... ultimate form.
So Sora did achieve the Power of Waking during his exam, and like Ventus said, he never lost it.
Tumblr media
So then why the hell did Yen Sid only name Riku a Master if Sora achieved all this power? Why did he send Sora to find the Power of Waking when he already had it?
Because Riku discovered the source of true strength, which is what truly matters; true love. His motivation is Sora.
This is that "untold power and wisdom" Kingdom Hearts holds that people covet so much and start Keyblade Wars over. It's just the power of true love. And it resides in every heart.
While Sora was affected by Riku unlocking his heart, Yen Sid knows that he hasn't yet discovered what the source of his true strength is, his love for Riku. Which is why he sends him right on over to Hercules, so Herc can tell him about his act of sacrifice for Meg. Yen Sid knows what's up, which makes me think he might have the Book of Prophecies and is aware of Sora and Riku's ultimate importance.
While Sora derps around Olympus, Riku and Mickey talk about his newfound inner strength, his resolve, and how it comes from his desire to protect what matters. Sora. When Way to the Dawn breaks, this is reference to him completely overcoming the darkness within him, his jealousy, fear, doubt. It manifested from Soul Eater, which manifested from his heart's darkness. His new keyblade is Braveheart. It has 9 notches, the 7 at the tip I believe representing the hearts of the 7 Princesses, the 7 Pure Lights. And the other 2 near the hilt representing himself and Sora. It also has a Mickey token, whereas Way to the Dawn did not. This is significant because the only other keyblades with Mickey tokens are the Kingdom Keys. So Braveheart is of the same nature as Kingdom Key, directly tied to Kingdom Hearts. And Riku and Sora's combined keyblade, when complete, has a Hidden Mickey near the hilt.
It's hard to tell when Sora actually realizes that's hes meant to be with Riku. In the tunnel, after rescuing everyone's heart but Kairi's, when he finds her, he gives her all the credit for his surviving. So this to me implies that when he said this, he didn't get it yet, since he doesnt mention Riku at all. And he says the light was her even though he instinctively called out Riku's name when he first saw it, contradicting himself.
But right after that it shows scenes of Rapunzel and Eugene, and Anna and Elsa after their respective acts of sacrifice. Specifically, it shows the joyful embraces afterwards. In Arendelle that scene went like this:
Tumblr media
This is when he realized what exactly Riku was saying to him through his act of self sacrifice. Which was, "I love you." And I think he also realizes that love is what reversed death in both of these cases. Like Elsa says, "Of course. Love!"
And then upon arriving back, this happens.
Tumblr media
When he reached for that light, I think he saw Riku reaching out to him [which has kind of become his... signature stance, reaching out his hand to Sora]. Even though Riku isn't standing there when they arrive. Nobody is. Which is why he looks so flabbergasted that theres nothing there. Sweet Kairi then asks him if hes okay, and shes talking about on an emotional level. Kairi knows Sora had a profound realization through this ordeal. Kairi knows. So I think Sora also knows at this point, which would have been the turning point in the timeline. So in the first timeline that ended with Riku's death, he apparently didn't get the message for whatever reason. He never heard Riku's "I love you." Or, if he did, he did not take it seriously enough. [I'm now convinced one of the stars in the Final World was the Riku who died in the original timeline, and he showed Sora those visions. If it was, this would have been why Sora didn't get the message originally. Because Riku wasn't dead yet. So this Riku star is waiting in the Final World for HIS Sora, the Master of Masters. Who isn't dead. Once the MoM gives his heart to the present Riku and is healed, I believe he will pass on like Repliku did, and join his Riku in death. He won't need to exist, because the world already has Sora. Like what Repliku said to Riku.][Also, its heartbreaking that Riku had to die for Sora to realize how much he means to him. Keep in mind the meanings of the Re:Mind title Nomura gave: reminder, being reminded of something, reconfirmation, confirming it AGAIN, and hearts regeneration.]
Data-Namine said Sora had very painful memories that would be too much for him if he became aware of them, but they are not his memories. I believe there are memories in there related to the fact that he was going to have to choose between Riku and Kairi eventually. He originally sacrificed Riku to save Kairi and he lost everything. In chess, any piece except the king may be sacrificed.
Kairi's sacrifice allowed Riku to live in this timeline. [I see people refer to what happened to Kairi as fridging, but really, it was a sacrifice that I believe she was aware had to happen. A noble act of true love, just like Riku's act of self sacrifice] So to me this confirms my suspicion that Foreteller Ava is Kairi/Namine/Xion. Which is why she never appeared in the Epilogue. She carried out her role, which was to ensure the survival of the light. And she did. Riku survived through Kairi's sacrifice [showing that Kairi holds immense love for both Sora and Riku]. This is why, when she questioned the Master about her given role, if she were the right person for it, he replied thusly:
Tumblr media
The 7 hearts that must be saved not only referred to Sora's friends after their death, but also to the hearts of the Master and his 6 Apprentices. Ava has been saved. She is safe, or the... many manifestations of her are. The others still have parts to play, and Sora is now following his heart to Riku, [his fate] and as long as he does that, they will be saved. I also find Ava to have the most devotion to, belief in, and trust in their Master than any of the others. I find this parallel to Kairi's unwavering belief in Sora. Only Luxu may have equal devotion, weirdly enough. He went through quite alot at the will of his Master, and his face shows it.
Gula's role was to find the traitor and stop them. I believe Gula must be Demyx. This just sounds dumb, since Gula is so cool and Demyx is a goon. But there is one Demyx moment everyone remembers because it was so very out of character for him.
Tumblr media
While many Org members referred to Sora as traitor in reference to Roxas, I believe this is a hint to Demyx's past, now that its confirmed that hes an ancient keyblade wielder. And like he says to Sora:
Tumblr media
So Demyx/Gula will play a part in Sora and Vanitas's reunion. If Vanitas's heart is lost Sora will never be complete, so they must unite in order for Sora to become what he was destined to be, the Master of Masters. Along with Riku, the True King, they will be the World's defenders, just what Kingdom Hearts made them for, and what their entire journey has led to. Everything happened exactly the way it had to for them to become what they are.
Almost like it was their fate or something.

Sora and Xehanort: The True King vs. The Pretender to the Throne
Tumblr media
Sora fighting Xehanort in Scala ad Caelum was kind of like watching a king reclaim his throne from a pretender who caused nothing but havoc in ruin in the king’s absence. Credit to @rapis-razuri for first making the connection and then telling me about it.
Let’s back up a bit first, though. Verum Rex, the video game featured in Toy Box, means True King in Latin.
Tumblr media
And while yes, this is no doubt a reference to Versus XIII, I also want to consider the idea of true kings in the context of KH3.
Sora has his first confrontation with Xehanort in Toy Box (albeit Young Xehanort). The true king (Sora) goes up against the pretender (Xehanort), and Sora doesn’t even hesitate to attack him in a sequence that shows that no, Sora is not over what Xehanort tried to do to him in DDD...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...but unfortunately Xehanort manages to grab him...
Tumblr media
...and casts him out/banishes him, i.e. throws him into the video game where the gigas are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fourth wall? What fourth wall?
Tumblr media
But Sora fights his way out and makes his way back to his friends... much like how later in the game, he is cast out of the realm of the living...
Tumblr media
...and then fights his way back to his friends and rescues them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In San Fransokyo, Sora meets Xehanort again after he finds all his friends’ hearts... except Kairi’s.
Look how hostile he is right off the bat towards him:
Tumblr media
He just glares at him even while Xehanort... tells the truth for once and warns him what’s going to happen to him?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sora’s not having it though and is sure to sass him:
Tumblr media
And Xehanort’s parting words are chilling:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then Sora goes back to the Keyblade Graveyard and... well, we all know how things went from there.
Tumblr media
Xehanort wants power, no matter what the cost... and he’ll sacrifice whatever it takes to get it. Including Kairi.
Tumblr media
And by the time we get to Scala ad Caelum... there’s a marked change in Sora’s interactions with him. No more sass. No more discussion. Sora doesn’t take Xehanort’s BS at all.
Seriously, almost every time he looks at Xehanort, he’s glaring at him or regarding him with the contempt and disgust he deserves. This is the man who killed the girl he loves enough to become a Heartless for - and later on in this very game actually died for! - and it hits Sora where it hurts. Like a king losing his queen when the pretender tries to take over his throne, Kairi’s loss wounds Sora deeply.
And, of course... the game of chess isn’t over if the queen’s gone - the king must be captured for that to happen - but all the same, the king’s left a lot more vulnerable without her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, queen at his side or not, he still has to win and beat the guy who made his friends’ lives hell and has made his life hell, too.
Tumblr media
His eyebrows are furrowed and he has his hand on his Keyblade, ready to fight:
Tumblr media
Xehanort is dressed in goat/ram armor for one of the battles, and goats... well, they’re associated with the devil, among other things, so the parallel is very fitting here. Sora probably felt like he was fighting Satan at this point.
Tumblr media
Shoutout to Donald for being equally disgusted/angry with him:
Tumblr media
The sky starting to go dark reflects Sora’s mood pretty well here:
Tumblr media
Sora just looks at him with utter loathing and disgust, which is such a huge change from his usual friendly/cheerful demeanor:
Tumblr media
Even when he’s looking up at him it’s with his head pulled back to make himself look as big/tall as possible. In other words, he isn’t giving Xehanort any sort of deference because he never in a million years deserves it.
Tumblr media
Donald and Goofy are equally pissed and it really shows:
Tumblr media
Even when Sora’s surprised/unsure about what’s going on he’s still glaring and gritting his teeth:
Tumblr media
And when Xehanort took Sora’s light, I’m pretty sure I gasped. Not just because I really liked Rage Form in this game and love any sort of exploration of Sora’s darkness, but because...
Well, Xehanort already took Sora’s light from him. Kairi. Kairi’s his light. This moment really drives that point home. Sora’s still feeling rage and fury and grief over her death, over losing her, and that comes out all at once and boy was it satisfying to wail on Xehanort like this:
Tumblr media
Fight darkness with darkness!
Tumblr media
Even when he’s desperate and about to die, he’s still just furious at Xehanort and that’s reflected in his demeanor:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, FINALLY, he wins. Xehanort is no longer towering over him. They’re on equal footing now. Sora has dragged him off his high horse and defeated him. Not only that, he’s actually managed to get him to collapse to the ground when before Sora had collapsed to the ground over his grief at losing his friends and then his grief at Kairi’s death. But not here. He’s the one standing over Xehanort for once.
Tumblr media
And he’s so tired and so done with him at this point and it was so satisfying to see someone call Xehanort out on his BS and for Xehanort to finally have to listen:
Tumblr media
Sora demands to know what’s going to happen because he doesn’t want to hear any more lies, half-truths, or beating around the bush:
Tumblr media
Side note: foreshadowing?
Tumblr media
Sora, in a way, is the World’s hope, and he is likewise lost at the end of the game, and the camera very deliberately chooses to focus on him here...
But anyway, as the scene continues, you can still really just see his contempt and disgust with Xehanort. This is the part where he basically tells Xehanort he’s not cut out to be a true leader because he thinks he can control destiny, and his contempt for Xehanort just oozes off the screen. Bonus points for them having a discussion about destiny vs. free will, where Xehanort blathers on about dictating people’s fates for them while Sora comes down hard on the side of giving people free will even if no one can really control their own destiny:
Tumblr media
I love Sora’s line here: “A real leader knows that destiny is beyond his control... and accepts that.”
Tumblr media
He tells it like it is, not at all afraid to mince words. Because yeah, Xehanort doesn’t deserve to rule one single bit. And in doing so Sora proves he is the one who truly deserves to rule. What do you bet he will become the eventual ruler of... something, eventually. Kingdom Hearts, maybe?
This moment is like when the true king tells the pretender to get off his throne, an idea @rapis-razuri first proposed:
Tumblr media
Yep, I’m definitely getting a “Get out of my kingdom and leave my people alone” vibe from this scene, even if Sora doesn’t know his true destiny yet. Foreshadowing? Especially when his shotlock in Second Form was called King of Hearts?
Probably. After Xehanort banished him and caused endless destruction and ruin, he’s casting Xehanort out and he’s going to make things right.
Tumblr media
Goofy gets a moment to look disgusted, too:
Tumblr media
And Xehanort tries to make a big show about how he’s handing over the χ-Blade because Sora did so well, blah blah blah, which... at least he acknowledges that Sora is the one who truly deserves this power?
Tumblr media
Sora takes the χ-Blade from him:
Tumblr media
And to Sora’s infinite credit, even though he has such a powerful weapon at his disposal, even though he could use it to summon the door and open Kingdom Hearts for himself and take full power of whatever lies beyond and be reborn as something greater than human and remake the World how he desires, if Xehanort’s reports in BBS are to be believed...
Tumblr media
He doesn’t do that. He doesn’t want that power, and by doing so, shows he is truly worthy of it in a way that Xehanort never was or will be.
But Sora doesn’t take it for himself. He doesn’t because he despises the χ-Blade and what it represents, despises the fact that Xehanort murdered Kairi to create it, despises the fact that it was completed with her death and created by so much pain and suffering.
He could remake the World however he wishes and he chooses not to. He wants the old world back, flawed as it might be, because he wants to give people a chance. Wants to give them a choice.
And instead of trying to go it alone like Xehanort did, he calls on his friends to help him close whatever realm Xehanort opened up:
Tumblr media
Then lifts the χ-Blade in the air...
Tumblr media
And we get this shot. My friends are my power, indeed:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Good riddance, I’m destroying this awful thing that represents everything I hate about what happened to Kairi plus all the crap Xehanort put my friends through, and I’m gonna do it with my bare hands.”
Tumblr media
Must’ve been so satisfying for Sora to finally see that thing gone. In the next scene the worlds are safe, the χ-Blade is gone, and Kingdom Hearts has been sealed once more.
But even though he fought all night and it is now morning, the king isn’t through with his mission. There’s one last person he still has to save. His queen. And in sharp contrast to how he felt like he was worthless without his friends before, here he feels worthy enough to go after her alone. And he pulls it off and saves her, too.
And for my game, at least, I got this image of Sora sitting on a throne at the end.
Tumblr media
Sora won. He might not be king yet, but he stopped Xehanort from becoming king and restored the worlds and rescued his friends and saved Kairi, and that’s what’s important for now. The rest can happen later. Nomura does like to play the long game, after all, and he’s been drawing Sora slouching around on thrones since... KH1 days?
And... until the next KH game... we’ll just have to wait and see how this theme will be further developed...

Tumblr media
Yeah, I remember hearing that KH3D was originally imagined as part of KH3. I wouldn’t be surprised if KH3D was made because they wanted to cut back on the number of Disney worlds in KH3, due to time and budget reasons. I always thought KH3D felt less “substantial” than say, KH2 or BBS. So, it being conceived as KH3 Part 1 makes sense. If KH3D and KH3 were combined into one game, then TWTNW would be the mid point. And like the original poster said, it would be a good climax, on par with the 1000 Heartless portion of KH3. Makes sense. I don’t disagree with that at all. If KH3 had an unlimited budget, they probably would have done that.
I guess my biggest issue is not the idea: it’s that even if you combine KH3D and KH3 into one game, to me it STILL doesn’t really feel like it offered any sense of closure to the Dark Seeker Saga. In a lot of ways, KH3 didn’t feel anything like the grand finale OR the continuation KH3D. It felt more like a teaser for KH4′s new arc, which feels disconnected from the Xehanort arc. I’m sure that wasn’t how it was originally supposed to be. I’m sure KH3 would still have left some unanswered questions, but it seems like it just offered nothing on its own. My own personal opinion is that the higher ups thought the lore was getting too confusing and they wanted KH3 as simplified as possible, since they wanted to target a mainstream casual audience, many who only played KH1 and KH2. So, instead of resolving a lot of things, they got altered and will be now be given a new explanation in the future.
Tumblr media
Joshua: Hello there, Riku. Portals are like gateways that link up our worlds. Apparently, the world you and I are standing in right now–well, there are two copies of it. It’s been sort of split in half. Portals are what let folks like us cross between them.
Riku: There can be two of a world?
Joshua: The world is as many things as people need it to be. The concept that we all live in the same world–that’s just in our heads. Surely you knew?
For instance, the time travel stuff. I know people complained about the time travel aspect being confusing, but it seems like it was absolutely fundamental to the plot of KH3. I think it would have been a lot less confusing if it actually got explained. That was the main problem. I replayed KH3D a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t believe how much stuff was in there that was left unexplained.
Joshua: He’s right inside this projection, in another imagining of this world.
Sora: You mean…another Traverse Town? Can I get there with your Portal thing?
Joshua: Sad to say, it won’t work for you. My “Portal thing” only opens for the one with Rhyme’s dreams. In this projection, you’re seeing another chain of events, in another world trapped by the Dream Eaters. As for how the world got split in two…I have a feeling you’ll need to ask this guy.
Young Xehanort wasn’t just traveling through time. He was a “portal”. And he split the world in two.
Tumblr media
Joshua: These two Traverse Towns separated by the Portal… I was under the impression they were parallel worlds, but it looks like I was wrong.
Riku: Wrong how?
Joshua: That’s where it gets tricky. After you and Sora left, Shiki crossed the Portal to join her Game partner. Did you notice Players have a mission timer inscribed on their hands? Well, when she got to the other side, Shiki had more time left on her clock than her partner. And when Beat’s partner crossed over from the other side, she had LESS time left.
Riku: So time flows differently here and there? So what? That’s true of any two worlds. Their home world would be running on a different time axis, too.
He split the Toy Story world in two. He also said he had a vessel he was trying to reclaim and the Toy Story world was supposed to offer a clue. Was it ever explained what he meant by this? NO! I think that was because the plot of the Toy Story world was originally written a LONG time ago, before the story got changed.
Tumblr media
Joshua: Yes, I understand that. But if these Traverse Towns were parallel worlds, then time would flow the same in both. But it doesn’t, ergo they are not parallel worlds.
Riku: You mean there’s a past…and a future.
Joshua: No. Impossible. The worlds are clearly separate–it’s not just time that sets them apart. As you yourself noted, every world flows at its own pace, which tells me that for all their similarities, these are two distinct worlds.
Riku: Distinct worlds?
Joshua: Yes…but this is all conjecture. It’s like the same world imagined by two people. What does that tell you? That we’re in…
Riku: A dream…
Joshua: Yes. Bravo again, Riku. In which case none of this may matter one bit to me or my friends. But to you and Sora, I think it might be a vital clue.
Seriously. All of this parallel world/dream stuff felt USELESS in KH3′s shitty dumbed down plot. It seems that originally, Nomura had an elaborate plot thought up for KH3, inspired by the “many worlds theory”. It would involve the Datascape, parallel worlds, the plot of Re:Coded, time travel, the plot of Union X. Everything. BUT. It was all supposed to be resolved in KH3 with the defeat of Xehanort.
Tumblr media
According to the many worlds theory, the universe splits into two distinct universes to accommodate each possible outcome. If an action has more than one possible outcome, then – if Everett’s theory is correct – the universe splits when that action is taken. This holds true even when a person chooses not to take an action. For instance, if you have ever found yourself in a situation where death was a possible outcome, then in a universe parallel to ours, you are dead.
Tumblr media
It is the unraveling of two realities that were previously just possible futures of a single reality. Everett referred to it as the “splitting” of worlds.
Tumblr media
This leads me to think that the different Xehanorts were probably all from different timelines and that was supposed to be very important. They might not even be the “real” Xehanort, but possible Xehanorts.
Tumblr media
Now, I still have to beat KH3 again to refresh myself on the finer details (I’m in the Caribbean), but I specifically remember that the key to beating Master Xehanort was a portal leading to Scala ad Caelum. This really confused me because it was never explained WHY. After beating MX, he just happily gives up, leading to many rightfully pissed off fans.
Tumblr media
It seemed like Xehanort got way too happy of an ending for all the shit he did. But it occurred to me recently. Defeating him in Scala ad Caelum might have had some time travel effect. So, when we see Young Xehanort reunite with Eraqus, maybe that is the version of him that never went evil to begin with. Something like that. I don’t know for sure if that was the idea or not. It was probably very convoluted in any case. But my point is that the dream/time travel stuff brought up in KH3D—it should have had an actual conclusion in KH3, relating to XEHANORT and the 13 Seekers of Darkness. Not just bringing back the lost masters at the very end and teasing Yozora (who I heard might be an alternate timeline Sora or Riku) and KH4. You can’t really say that the Xehanort Saga is complete if you end it like that…

Wheel of Time/Dragon Age parallels
I know you could probably spin in a circle and throw a dart and find parallels for literally any fandom because inspiration/originality/etc.younameit., but @johaeryslavellan and I were talking about WoT and it got me rollinggggg with ideas and since I’m always thinking about Dragon Age, I thought why not combine two of my favourite things in the world?
Here we go (and I’m sure I’m going to forget a lot because WoT is a massive universe) also SOME spoilers if you’ve never read the series:
WoT/DA: has ancient people that have been sealed away and slept for thousands of years
Tel'aran'rhiod  & the Fade = sketchy dream worlds that are big ?????? to everyone
Aes Sedai/Circle Mages: both live in towers (the White Tower of Tar Valon and then the Circle Towers)
Aiel/Dalish: Aiel had a purpose once but was lost in the Breaking of the World and now their people are split into a few different branches. Lots of things have been forgotten (LIKE THE DALISH WHOA)
Angreal & Sa’angreal: Pretty much just Foci.
The Dark One’s prison: the seals are breaking on his prison (mostly just reminds me of the Archdemons and their prisons)
Seanchan/Qunari: both seek to leash mages and have rigid beliefs and a political system in place. They also seek to spread their ideals to the rest of the world. This would take a helluva lot more time to break down because I see the strongest parallels between these two groups but I won't do that this time.
Asmodean/Felassan: Both change sides and both are killed because of it (deaths that I’m still salty about). Also, Asmodean was teaching Rand ancient knowledge, a bit like Felassan and Briala! ;~;
The Source/Magic: magic in both universes is dangerous as fuk. Also you can tear holes in reality in both universes.
The Forsaken/The Forgotten Ones: both are essentially pantheons antithesis to whatever side they were fighting against. Both were sealed away in respective prisons.
Dragons: Both are mythical in both universes. Still have no idea if dragons ever actually existed in the Wheel of Time but I mean we have the Dragon Reborn and he has dragon tattoos and yeah they had to have existed (maybe in Seanchan or something). Obviously they exist in DA. But I mean the entire WoT series literally revolves around the Dragon Reborn...and we have Dragon Age. lol
BLIGHT: HOLY SHIT when I first saw that there was something called the Blight in DA I immediately freaked out and thought back to the Blight in WoT. Seriously, the Blight in WoT is horrific even though it’s not exactly like the DA Blight. WoT Blight spreads across the land and fucks shit up though. Also I’m pretty sure you can’t contract the Blight like you can in DA but...honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised. Also, the monsters in WoT like to hang out in the Blight, kinda like DA darkspawn.
White Tower/Black Tower: It’s a stretch, but totally reminds me of the White Divine and the Black Divines of Dragon Age.
Daes Dae'mar (The Great Game/Game of Houses)/The Game: Because what fantasy universe doesn’t have some stupid complex backstabbing political ‘game’.
Perrin Aybara/Solas: Perrin can shapeshift into a fucking wolf in the Dream World. Solas totally can (fight me). Perrin doesn’t like to kill people, and Solas doesn’t seem to either unless it’s necessary (means to an end). That’s about all they have in common though lmfao
Bards: WoT does it better.
Darkspawn/Shadowspawn: pretty much just in the names tho haha
OH AND ONE MORE:
Moghedien/Solas: “It was said that she ran what was perhaps the Shadow's most extensive intelligence network during the War of Power. Moghedien joined Lews Therin Telamon (Good Guy) as an employee of his staff, and from her position directed several of the major setbacks for the Light in the early War.” Basically, she joined the Good Guys™, did some shady shit in the shadows and escaped notice doing so. She also acquired the title Moghedien (Fen’harel much?) because she “hid her allegiance, conspired and plotted from the shadows.” SHE BLENDED. A lot like our beloved trickster wolf! Both are also exceptionally unlucky and somewhat unsuccessful in their planning! They also scare the shit out of me.
@johaeryslavellan pointed out this one:
Aes Sedai&Warders vs. Templars/Mages: This is a little complicated, but hear me out. Aes Sedai can create a magical bond with anyone. Usually it’s a man and once the bond is created, they become a Warder (with additional perks/buffs). Now, the bond reminds me a bit of a phylactery but without the blood because Aes Sedai can therein track their Warder wherever he/she may go. This bond could totally be abused/perverted if they so wished. Also, there have been a few Aes Sedai that take advantage of their Bonded (sex and whatnot) kind of like the Templars pressing their mage wards.
Wise Ones/Dalish Keepers: pretty much what it sounds like. The Aiel have these elder type leaders that are basically the keepers of their lore. That’s about it.
OKAY so I know there’s probably like a hundred more similarities and before anyone burns me at the stake, I’m not trying to be like OH BUT BIOWARE STOLE FROM WOT, because I’m not! This is just me drawing parallels between two universes I absolutely love with my entire heart and it’s super cool to see these similarities! They also have vast differences and that should always be celebrated as well! :DDD

You know I've read fanfics/interpretations of Roxas still feeling unsure about Sora even post kh3. But honestly from what we've seen in canon I think Roxas and Xion kind of adore Sora. Yeah Roxas at least resented him at first. But post their kh2 fight we've had nothing but positive interactions. Roxas considers Sora a good other and completely trusts him to figure out the right answers to his questions. He encourages Sora before the final battle. In DDD Roxas proclaims he's just Sora like-
everyone else has beaten into him. But Sora rejects that and validates Roxas's individuality more then anyone else has. Roxas is grateful but still believes Sora is the best person to solve things. Roxas, who before was so possessive of himself, shares all his feelings w/Sora because he still wants Sora to understand him (ok that scene is still weird. Roxas is smiling happily while he bombarded Sora w/all his traumas. Why? There are better way to share and communicate Roxas). In KH3 -
Sora thinks about To as while Hiro talks about his brother. This to me gives me the impression both Sora and Roxas share mutual feelings of wanting to be there for each other w/the devotion of brothers. When Roxas comes back he points out many people helped but singles out Sora as the key. Before Sora left to fight Xehanort, Xion was the only one to comfort him about Kairi and remind him of hope. Despite the situation Xion cared about Sora's feelings and what he had lost. Yeah I expect to see-
gradual development of friendship to Sora. But overall I get the impression Roxas and Xion already have a lot of sibling like affection for Sora. They feel like 2 younger siblings who look up to their goofball yet reliable protective big brother (Roxas particularly seems to be surprised at the idea of a worried Sora). They've even already gone through the resentment phase! XD That's my interpretation anyway. Roxas and Xion are two adorable (no chill) sibs who adore their perfect big Bro Sora.
*Roxas Voice* Yeah, you take my baggage, Sora. Let’s see how you like it
But, seriously, that’s been my thoughts on it for a while. I know the argument about Xion and Kairi being sisters as opposed to Xion and Sora being siblings has been made (and it’s no less valid since Xion has Kairi’s face and is Kairi-esque by design) but I’ve always seen Xion as being more Sora’s sister because she had his memories, when it came down to it she was copying him primarily (to the point where she eventually took on his appearance), and it was his heart that she ended up becoming a part of
I think the brother parallels in San Fransokyo were absolutely intended, especially when combined with the fact that Vanitas keeps calling Ven and Sora his brothers throughout the game. Actually, KH3 is a very sibling-oriented game when you get down to it
The Sora and Roxas brother parallel is pretty blatant, as is Sora/Vanitas and Ventus/Vanitas (which also can imply Sora/Ventus and Ventus/Roxas for a quartet of brothers), the Wayfinder Trio are referred to with sibling terms in the Journal, the argument that Sora sees Riku as a brother based on the Elsa/Anna parallel certainly exists in the same vein as the Sora/Roxas and Tadashi/Hiro parallel, and even Eraqus and Xehanort refer to each other as “brothers” (most notably by Xehanort, who still refers to Eraqus as such in his BBS Reports) and we finally get to see that relationship in KH3
I am infinitely more fascinated by this idea of Keyblade apprentices as surrogate siblings creating bonds that last a lifetime with each other and the unofficial family units that they create than I am any amount of shipping in the series
It’s like KH3 was catering to me, specifically, with this stuff
“Roxas and Xion are two adorable (no chill) sibs who adore their perfect big Bro Sora.” I love this and I can’t wait for the three of them to get to be goofy siblings at some point in the future
And Sora has always been Roxas’s biggest supporter, from the second he knew who Roxas was. That look of surprise when Riku told him that Roxas was his Nobody... I think that changed a lot. Up until that point Sora had just been going after the Nobodies because Yen Sid said so. But knowing who Roxas was and what his deal was... I think that was a big moment for Sora and he’s been on team “Roxas and Namine (and Xion) are their own people” since then. Granted, he’d had the same mindset with Repliku but he also... could not remember Repliku at that point and had to relearn it all
And I swear every scene between Riku and Repliku looked like he was talking to his little brother, but maybe I’m just too deep in the sibling relationship hole
Point still stands that Roxas and Xion both care for and look up to Sora, who consistently shows that he cares for them back even if he doesn’t know much about them or even who they are in Xion’s case
(I wonder if Roxas could hear everything Sora was saying while he was in his heart - or at least feel it - and that’s why Sora had that vision of Roxas and the Twilight Town Trio while he was in San Fransokyo. Like it was Roxas’s way of saying “hey, I’m here and I agree”)

Do you prefer the original Organization XIII or the new Organization/The Seekers of Darkness (or at least those we know so far)?
~~~PEOPLE WHO KNOW THE LEAKED KHIII SPOILERS DO NOT INTERACT~~~
Not really a fair question, since we DON’T know the identities of all of the True Organization yet (Is Aqua a Nort? Is she a Darkling?), and we’ve had all of the original Organization known for SEVERAL games now, so I’m naturally inclined to lean toward the original Organization if only because I know ‘em all and what their deals were (for the most part…there may be a whole Strelitzia thing in the works that reframes everything).
Also, the two rosters are incredibly similar, with only a few swaps out here and there. Those swaps are important, though, and I’m going to touch on that.
I will say the biggest thing the True Organization has going for it is that Ansem is part of it. Ansem is a fantastic and threatening baddie, and his presence, as well as that of the Master himself, elevates this group up from Xemnas’ band of mistakes. (Like, seriously, if you consider the grand Xehanort plan, the original XIII were kind of just a big screw-up that Xemnas got wrong the first time until Master Xehanort stepped in and went HOW COULD YOU GET THIS WRONG? YOU LITERALLY TOLD YOURSELF HOW TO DO IT. THAT’S IT. I’M TAKING YOUR PEOPLE, ADDING MY OWN, AND MAKING THIS LEGITIMATE.) But…that comes with its own set of baggage as well.
And I will say…there was once a time I thought I would never come around to liking Organization XIII as a band of characters again. I used to be knee-deep in the fandom just devoted to them, and I did…things. Horrible things. Things I won’t speak of in public. I renounced what I had done and swore “never again.” But as time passed, I was able to come at the Organization with a more mature perspective (I won’t say COMPLETELY mature; I’ll say MORE mature) and appreciate them through the lens of having some more fandom experience and more experience loving villains in general.
All that being said, I have to give it to the original Organization: Xemnas’ band of screw-ups. And here’s why:
-Xaldin. This is probably the most important factor. Now, I’m no huge screaming fan of Xaldin or anything. He’s not my favorite. But I do LIKE Xaldin a lot. And Xaldin is one of the most important Organization members when it comes to actual manipulation of the worlds. He and Luxord caused the most damage that wasn’t confined to Castle Oblivion, and with Xaldin, it’s poignant because he flat-out used manipulation and bargaining to string the Beast along. It’s IMPRESSIVE. And everything pointed to his character being nasty and rotten without anything redeeming to him. Everything in II depicted him as a ruthless manipulator, and though we were supposed to think he had no heart at the time, it still looked like he was having FUN. (But guess what! Thanks to the Nort heart, HE ACTUALLY WAS HAVING FUN!) Beyond that, 358/2 Days continued down this path, painting him as a terrible mentor who had no patience with Roxas (”NO BREAKS”) and spent his days stalking and scheming. That they should bring back almost everyone else for the True Org EXCEPT one of their meanest and toughest is a shame.
-While I do like Ienzo and Aeleus better as heroes, the original lineup meant I did get to enjoy them alongside the others in the group. And unlike Xaldin, you could make arguments that both of them had more sympathy - Zexion may have played Riku like a fiddle in CoM, but he also had those seemingly throwaway lines about the Organization coming apart and how much of a shame it was. Lexaeus had almost nothing to go on, so I could buy literally any character development on him.
-As for the outright good people, the original lineup had the ever-important Axel, Roxas, and Xion. No, it wasn’t good for them to be trapped there, but it still meant I could enjoy their struggles and their friendships in the context of “Wait…we work for the BAD guys, don’t we?” and their relationships to said bad guys, who are their ROOMMATES. Xion is one of my favorite KH characters to this DAY. Yes, she may be returning as of that recent trailer, but that’s not confirmed, and furthermore, we don’t know if she’s there of her own free will or if this is some kind of brainwash. Leading to…
-When the original lineup had good people trapped in it, they were manipulated. Roxas and Xion thought they were with the right people because it was all they ever knew. These people raised them from their conception as beings that existed. Axel started out as rotten as the rest, then had his perspective flipped by Sora and Roxas’ influence and realized he no longer fit into the cutthroat crowd. The True Org has at least one good person (Terra) and maybe more (Aqua?), but in both those cases, they’re not there out of a poetic reason like that. They’re there because they’ve been straight-up brainwashed and had different hearts stuffed into them. There’s no free will involved, which doesn’t make for as interesting of a story to me. (…This is a theme with me, I’m realizing, because I’m now recalling the parallel to my frustration with the brainwashing in DanganRonpa…)
-In the original lineup, Marluxia and Larxene were definite traitors to the rest, which made them unique and gave them an interesting subplot. Now at least one of them (Larxene) has fallen in line to work for Xehanort and doesn’t seem like she’s about to turn traitor last minute.
-Braig is a double-edged sword. On one hand, one of the things that makes him GREAT is his endurance, from II to BBS to DDD and into III. We got to see him evolve from just another minion to…there’s a reason WHY he’s ranked II. He’s one of Xehanort’s oldest confidantes and maybe even has his own plans on the side. He wouldn’t be the great character he is now if we DIDN’T have his Nortified journey. However…all the same, when he does appear in DDD and his speech patterns are modified to reflect Xehanort’s because of the heart taking over, it kind of feels tragic. He’s less of a free spirit and you can hear it in the way he talks - maybe he still seems to be happy with himself on the surface, but there’s something off about the guy who used to talk like a surfer dude now becoming loquacious as they come.
-And Ansem? Actually better when he WASN’T tied to ANY Organization. Ansem is a powerhouse who destroys worlds. His fascination with the Darkness is almost deviant from the rest of the Norts - they focus on forging the x-blade while Ansem wishes to link the worlds to Darkness. I actually just have such a hard time picturing him blending into any GROUP. Which I’m sure will be rectified when I see it in practice, but as cool as it is that he’s now part of the big bad group, that’s actually a point against.
III could change my mind entirely, but for now, I’m nostalgic for the old Organization. Though, to be fair, Vexen is in both rosters, and he’s the one who matters most to me, so I can’t complain too much.
LHFF reads Volume 9, Chapter 1 (live-read)
So KR’s nickname for his Garnet Dragon was translated as “Gar-gar” (Ga-tan in JP), as I would assume “Ga-ga” would be too much like baby talk... or the singer. Unfortunately, I’m only ever going to read Gar-gar as Gar-Gar Binks and that’s just about the worst parallel to draw, so I’m gonna keep using Ga-tan here.
That said, I think Engel localized Ga-tan’s antiquated speech well. I will admit that Log Horizon has introduced me to new terms and words, which is honestly quite enjoyable. In this case, I learned the word “whinge.”
Jered was also translated as Jared. I might be keeping that one, once I get a bot up and running so I can change everything on the Wiki accordingly.
“The protection of dragons, the blood of the fairies, the principle of transmigration, the skills of the great ones.” I remember “great ones” was fan translated/interpreted as “giants.” We have yet to see if “great ones” refers to literal giants or just “people who do awesome stuff.” As for transmigration, I believe that’s a new term from this volume. I’ll have to read more to see if that is brought up again.
One thing that also bugs me: The Chinese server never got a name of its own. Like Japan is the Yamato server and their region is called Yamato. Eurasia is called Eureddo (I think that’s the Yen On term, can’t remember at the moment), but China doesn’t have its own name.
I’m not a game developer, but the idea that making a nigh-faithful representation of Earth at half scale, using satellite photos and drones, would reduce development personnel expenses doesn’t sound quite right. Maybe I’m wrong on that front, though. Again, not a person who does that stuff.
Reading Mamare talk about Shake Shack through Leonardo makes it feel somewhat heretical that I, having lived in NYC for two years now, have never had Shake Shack. Though to be fair, I’m also rarely in Manhattan. (That said, I’m going to look up Tasuda and Ushiwaka to see if they’re real sushi places.)
Amazing. Leonardo makes these comments about Kanami’s looks, and then immediately feels self-conscious once he gets up because she’s taller than him.
I noticed that Leonardo calls Kanami “Miz Kanami” shortly afterwards. I’d have to check the JP version, but since it talks about the translation machine, does it add Japanese honorifics to what’s spoken by other people? Like maybe Leonardo would know about honorifics, but what about people who don’t?
I also don’t envy Engel’s job. Language jokes are really, really hard to translate when you have to translate like your audience has no understanding of the original language at all. (And again I will state: Yen On would do well to have footnotes or a glossary, or something to explain them more... cleanly.)
For some context, Kanami says this: “It’s less a frog than a fuhrahhg, huh!!” I reckon that the first “frog” was written with kanji, and then “fuhrahhg” was written in katakana--and thus, she’s saying it in English. But you can’t really go from English, to English again, so Engel spelled the second phonetically. It’s something that would be best accompanied by an explanation, but the translator has no space to provide one.
Leonardo mentions a place called the Sedona Ruins in the North American server... will have to look up what that’s a reference to.
“[Elias] had chestnut hair and eyes.” Uhhhh yeah sure let’s go with that. The anime straying away from Mamare’s descriptions can frankly be a tad infuriating sometimes, since Hara will go with the anime’s colors while Mamare keeps referring to what the novels say. (Re: William and his totally-not silver hair.)
Engel translated Ling Xiangfeng’s name as Ling Tiangfeng, and I’m... frankly not quite sure why. I’m pretty sure there was furigana for her name that read it as “Rin Shangfeng,” and “Xiang” sounds like “Siang.” That’s a pretty far cry from a T, and neither Mandarin nor Cantonese would read 香 as “tiang.”
In a case of realism, attention is indeed drawn to the slight gap between a person speaks and when the translated version comes out. I knew that it existed from previous spoilers about the side-story, but it’s nice to read it again.
 The Keronardo joke is translated as “Croakanardo,” which while it’s proper (as kero is onomatopoeia, the equivalent to croak in English), it... lacks charm. Perhaps I’m too used to “Froggynardo” or just plain “Keronardo.” It’s again, not a bad translation, it’s just very... stiff-sounding in English. Keronardo works both as a joke on his frog costume, and has the benefit of sounding pretty similar to Leonardo. Froggynardo has Kanami’s childishness even if it’s detached from “Leo.” Croakanardo doesn’t sound kiddish and doesn’t have any similarities to “Leo.”
Kanami rationalizing swimming from China to Taiwan, to Japan, with Coppelia shaking her head in the background is the greatest. Did they keep Coppelia’s head shake in the anime? I don’t remember much of it.
“Even in crowds like these, true New Yorkers didn’t lose their cool. They had their own destinations firmly in mind, so they were able to keep walking at maximum efficiency, without paying attention to anybody else.” This is true. Though some people, even though they’re probably locals, walk infuriatingly slowly anyways.
The explanation for how Big Apple turned out the way it did post-Catastrophe makes a lot more sense than what the fandom years back made it out to be, where the 6.01 food riots just turned the city into pieces almost instantaneously. From the description here, it was basically the same as what happened to Akiba, but instead of having someone like Shiroe and Maryelle to get things together, there were several key incidents that boiled over and made things turn out badly.
I still think that Japan getting the reset (and thus, the expansion pack update) before Oceania is BS, especially with the backstory that the game is American-based, but whatever.
“How’s life in England treating you? Is eel pie lethally nasty?”
“Boy, is it ever. Seriously, England’s brutal about stuff like that. Whoever said the only delicious thing in England is breakfast hit the nail right on the head.”
As someone who got the “distinct pleasure” of trying marmite (mostly popular in Britain), and has heard many things about British food, the above jab seems pretty damn accurate.
I’m not even 50 pages in (on page 47, to be exact) and I’ve already laughed several times. The group’s dynamic is already great. Props to Mamare and Engel for their hard work.
“I didn’t think we’d be this useless without the Web.” Way to foreshadow DDD’s fate, Mamare... Reading the novels with context of future events sure is a trip. That said, Log Horizon really is an adventure in “life without modern conveniences,” even if a number of modern conveniences (like flushing toilets) have been recreated by taking advantage of magic. I honestly wouldn’t mind a slice-of-life story about living day-to-day life in a world that had magic, but no modern appliances. Things like cooking alone become harder when you’re forced to revert back to cooking over an open fire instead of an electric stove, and you have no experience with open-fire cooking.
