Ok this may be nitpicking but my problem with the whole "Father's love" Is that your father Is the reason your sister is death, the whole reason y'all went to war... They casted you away because you didn't want Lilith to die...
The thing Is that Father's love Is not unconditional, If you didn't started the war, your sister would have died anyways, for the crime of loving a human too much, he practially made you choose between your loyalty to him or your love for your sister. Thats why Lucifer whole speech of "All Father did was love me, but I couldn't see It" feels shallow, because It undermines the tragedy of falling from the CR in the first place. Like If Seraph Lucifer had fallen in love with a human, he would probably had the same fate as Lilith. Simeon Is stripped of His own angelhood in S3/S4 for stealing the ring of light to save MC, so it's not like the CR Is better in the future or anything
I think Its unrealistic to expect OBM to put Father/God as this 100% Bad guy (with the whole uniting the three realms and all that) but also I feel like Lucifer should have more complicated feeling about this. I don't doubt Father loved him, but I don't think the conclusion of Lucifer arc should be that "All my Father did was love me but I was too prideful to see it"

As much as most of us (I assume) found Joker Out through Eurovision last year and maybe are big fans of the contest (me included), please consider boycotting Eurovision this year!
Palestinians and allies have called for the disqualification of Israel but the EBU has refused. Now Israel is participating with a song that used to be called "October Rain" (the title has been changed) that is very clearly referencing October 7th.
Russia was (rightfully) disqualified for opening fire on Ukraine. Israel is allowed to continue, despite the year-long occupation and murdering thousands of Palestinians in the last half year alone.
Boycotting means not watching, not streaming the shows, not creating or interacting with any Eurovision content. You will miss out on a glittery night of music and it will suck, but it will help path the way to a free Palestine! 🍉

hi can i just say that while I haven't been there to read your HK fanfiction, seeing you update nailmaster's folly after so long makes me... hopeful? In the 'I also have wips I haven't touched in years but there might still be space for them one day if I get the gumption' sort of way? so, while I'm not really going to be reading it as I know nothing about HK: thanks for updating nailmaster's folly, so cool to see it.
Hey you're very welcome! I'm very stoked it's giving you hope for your future projects. That's a hope you deserve to have.
Honestly, one of the most important things about art that I wish everyone would, at some point, absorb into their creative process, is that everything is allowed to rest. Sometimes the only thing that will "fix" a problem piece is time and distance, and that time and distance is allowed to be long. You're allowed to drop something for 4 years and randomly decide it's worth your time again, and you should be able to have that process without guilt or judgement.
Not to get on the "internet culture is evil" soapbox, but, the idea of the "grind", that every project must be done at once, from start to finish, in a logical order that others can consume and follow from point A to point Z, is untenable for individual creators, especially creators that are doing it just for fun. You aren't a machine. You aren't a writing board churning out a podcast, movie, tv series, comic book set, etc. You're a person finding joy in making art about something you love. The process can be messy. It can make no sense. It can involve long breaks, or deciding you're done with something entirely. Without guilt or malice, you are allowed to wash your hands of something and then decide to get them dirty with it again when you can stand the texture.
I understand there's sadness in thinking you can't finish something, in not knowing how to fix it immediately, or not being able to conjure the motivation to put to physicality something that makes so much sense in your head. Be disappointed, and grieve it, if you must. But never think it was time wasted. No one has ever walked out of their house in the morning without, at some point or another, looking at the world to see what was there. You're allowed to start a project, walk down the road with it, and realize you'd rather look around.
You can always come back.

so one character got to learn how to live again, how to reenter society after traumatizing event that will forever impact his life, got to heal and rebuild his relationship with his family even estranged father, reconnected with his old friends and was able to create reliable support system of people that also grew throughout this healing process and now can understand him more and be there for him, got to graduate and start his own business and now can even give inspirational speeches to help others
and the other one had to leave two closest people to him that were his only support after his family death bc 'friends' he had before weren't type of people worth reconnecting with, move out of his country abandoning everything he knew his whole life just to * checks notes * start a job he didn't really want and the main reason he needed higher pay was to establish financial stability for one of two people who he had to leave and that no longer wanted to be with him
okay yea okay sure both cases are about personal 'growth'

alright there is this Italian series, I'm currently watching, called "Un professore" ("a teacher"), in absolutely no way it is related to dead poets society, EXCEPT for the fact that there is this teacher, not a normal teacher, if you catch what I mean, that is trying to let escape his students out of their shells. for example: there was this boy, who cannot leave his room, because he was afraid of the world outside, even if he knew that his life sucked. in one way or another the teacher succeeded to let him leave is comfort zone.
but the thing I want to talk about is the dynamic (which is very complicated, I'm not going to explain the details about it) between him and one of his student, which is also his son, Simone.
the teacher always try to talk to his son, even if Simone hates him because of his past, through his lessons.
Simone is a boy who step by step is figuring out to be in love with his male best friend, and is trying to accept the fact that he has no chances with him.
his father (the teacher), discovered this, and for let him know that he accept him, and it's okay to explore sexuality, he did this alternative lesson, in which the students had to walk, however they wanted to, in the empty gymnasium of the school, for making them realize the power and the dangerousness of conformity, by quoting michel foucault, a gay philosopher of the 50s.
and now you might think "gio, well, this is basically what keating did-" EXACTLY, that is the point, they're basically saying that neil and todd, were killed by conformism, as much as Simone was being killed. and that the society in that time couldn't accept someone like them, so they had to find their own voices, and scream as loud as they can, without being afraid of who they are.

She also made her own Care Bear Cousin- Gloomheart Bat! Specifically nocturnal, she's rarely seen by the other cousins with the exception of Brightheart who's also nocturnal.
She stands for the importance of patience, and listening to others without interrupting while they share their feelings.

it will be really interesting to see how well (if at all) sabine is able to tap into force when removed from an emotional or high adrenaline moment like we saw in the finale. idk, maybe we’ll just go the route of “sabine uses the force now!” but i’d love to see her struggle to just use the force in normal situations when not faced with “im about to die” or “someone i love is about to die”

My five happy things for the day
• paper that has a good feeling texture
• things not feeling like an emergency EVERY second of the day, only part of the time
• the fact that these cheapo stamp ink pads from Walmart a few years ago somehow still have a bit of functioning ink not dried out?
• I’m able to track and retain conversations for longer periods of time again, I’m finally finally finally feeling some progress
• putting on a warm hoodie or coat when feeling chilled

I just love how carefree mulder and scully are in david’s episodes, it’s a side of them we so rarely got to see… 😔😔😔
yeah, me too. david writes journeys for mulder, with clear morals and arcs. the unnatural is about valuing “life on this planet,” finding space for joy and connection in the midst of blinding pursuit. amor fati is about commitment to your purpose, realigning to who you are at the core, who you were as a child. the promises that you made to yourself then. hollywood a.d. is about legacy, what we leave behind: does it matter if it’s warped, or if it’s nothing, so long as we loved and were loved well?
david’s episodes are classic hero’s journeys, active lessons for mulder as a character. but these are all things that scully already knows, so she gets to be passive and lighthearted and wise. they aren’t having anything beaten into them; they’re growing through storytelling, through play, through identification. they’re growing through watching a movie at 3am and rambling to each other. they’re growing through eating gross fake ice cream and reading old newspapers on a saturday morning. they’re growing through swinging a baseball bat, hips before hands, all night under the stars.

But I totally agree, Charles is so sweet off the track but on the track he's insane. 2025 Chalie is going to be terrifying
Sorry it had to be done.
Exactly! People underestimate Charles because he is very sweet and goofy off the track. But the second it comes to the actual racing he is dead serious. To really understand his mentality as a driver you have to pay attention to what he does and says on the track(which should be self evident but not enough people are paying attention to that part). Like we saw this year he is so smart doing calculations for the constructor's strategy on the track! Insane man.
Never underestimate Il Predestinato

one of these days, i need to make a full, proper post about how important it is (to me personally, though i’m sure others feel the same—we’ve seen Taika himself talk about how comedy opens a very real, very genuine avenue to discussing difficult topics) that ofmd is a romcom that has Things To Say and Actually Says Them, and takes them (and itself) seriously. granted, not every romcom needs to do that, but when you have a story like this, touching on so many topics (racism, homophobia, toxic masculinity, imperialism, to name just a few), the fact it handles them in a way that’s so respectful while carrying the messages on humor’s back is just fuckijg stupendous. people hear “romcom” and immediately have a very specific image in mind, however derogatory that image is, or they assume it’s going to be one thing when it’s actually that one thing and so much more. that image intrigues them enough bc they’re going to automatically assume this is just a carefree, escapist show (and it is in many respects!! but it’s not just that)
ofmd pulls people in by promising a silly gay romcom about pirates falling in love amidst fuckeries and completely entrances the viewer and then says “great, while you’re here laughing your head off and admiring all the ridiculously pretty actors kissing each other, you’re also gonna confront these tough but important subjects and you’re gonna damn well enjoy it” and it’s frankly fucking brilliant. it’s exactly what i do in my own romcoms. people hear me say i write romcoms and immediately supply a very specific image (however derogatory) only for me to sit them down and say “great, while you’re admiring these pretty thieves bantering and having shenanigans, you’re also gonna confront these tough but important subjects and you’re gonna damn well enjoy it”
comedy is such a great medium to have these discussions, bc it has them in a way that makes people address these lessons or challenge these unconscious biases without even realizing it. comedy, like romance, is easy to digest when it’s done right, which makes it the perfect medium to convey messages. ofmd does it right, and with aplomb, and it’s so nice to see a romcom that promises silly shenanigans with pretty people and snappy dialogue handle these various topics with such impressive gravitas
(and this doesn’t even touch on how the humor and romance in and of itself is written. it’s not mocking the material, like so many “comedic” things do these days, or looking down on the audience who enjoy the genre. it’s a celebration and a dissertation in equal measure)

I went looking and couldn't find any record of me ever actually posting this on tumblr, oops, but a couple years back I wrote this thread on twitter about how Emmeryn's sacrifice absolutely is not supposed to teach Chrom (or Robin, for that matter) that "sacrifice is necessary" or anything like that and mmmm for reasons I am getting Upset about it again so asdfghjkl I'll actually share the Rant with my tumblr followers this time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
#i'm sorry i'm sorry it's just then whenever i see anyone say that chrom didn't “learn his lesson” about sacrifice from emmeryn i freak out#it's such a common take too??? well okay idk if it's “common” or if i just keep running into a niche take but either way i've seen it a lot#i could also get into (i think i have before at some point) that when robin says “what is one life when weighed against millions?” it's...#it's actually a misquote of emmeryn's “you each have but one life and i do not wish it weighed against mine.”#and despite sounding similar it actually has a directly opposite meaning#emmeryn's saying her life is not more important than anyone else's but robin's saying that their life is less important than everyone else'#also robin does NOT in fact believe in sacrificing for the greater good. look at their supports with virion. and walhart too actually#when chrom tells aversa that one person's life means nothing in the shadow of millions he's basically parroting robin#except neither he nor robin believe that. that's what they say when they feel powerless. like when emmeryn was on that cliff#(also the game literally does call out the hypocrisy? aversa points out he didn't feel that way when his sister was on the line...#like... you're supposed to notice...)#anyway sorry for vagueblogging but do note that i've had this take for 2 years (and well... longer but it took me a while to write it out)#and dang it i have a certain blog BLOCKED but sometimes i go to my mutuals blogs directly and for some reason tumblr still shows me reblogs#anyway normally i would keep my mouth shut it's just that i already had this one ready to go from 2 years ago asdfghjkl

For a second I thought the cow incident was over the weekend and I was about to book a flight to the UK to tuck you into blankets and make you huge piles of food and treatos.
Also thing. So I have zero and I do mean zero filter on my mouth. Mum likes to say the shit I say is why she has so many grey hairs. Now this isn't to say I'm a jerk or anything close to that. More that I'm a sassy thing and it's amazing that I still have a job. Example, yesterday at work my supervisor and an educator were showing these two students we have proper body mechanics for lifting heavy surgical trays.
Educator "just remember to bend and lift with your knees."
Me walking behind them "pop it like you want that anaconda to get some hun."
Educator and Supervisor "MA'AM" and government name while laughing.
Me walking away as I shake my ass "am I wrong?"
Anyways somehow I still have a job and I'm not entirely sure how. One supervisor wanted to get me drug tested and like 3 weeks later I accidentally gave him nightmares.
Love you hope your week going fabulous ❤️
stigy oh my god i am trying so hard not to cackle at your lack of brain-to-mouth filter right now.
i am fully high-fiving you over saying weird shit at work and somehow still keeping a job. i was well known for saying some truly off the wall shit at my last job (never mean or malicious, just stuff that made people go "parker!" in a scandalised tone while also laughing).
like that time one of my favourite co-workers came to find me in the stockroom and i said "i wish i was getting fucked as hard by dickheads in charge outside of work as i am inside of work" and i made her think she'd gone into premature labour because she was laughing so hard. i am very pleased to tell you she didn't go into labour because i would NOT have handled that well let me tell ya.
lmao i can promise i haven't been getting up to (many) antics at the moment. i've been good! just a few harmless pranks on my mum and an accidental midnight spidering.
love you too! and i hope your week goes most excellently! 💜

For better and for worse, [Sondheim's] is the most systematic and unsentimental mind that has ever addressed itself to the American musical—the sort of mind one might more easily imagine designing particle accelerators, or computer viruses too wily to destroy. “The first music teacher I had at Williams College was a man named Robert Barrow,” he says. “And everybody hated him because he was very dry, and I thought he was wonderful because he was very dry. And Barrow made me realize that all my romantic views of art were nonsense. I had always thought an angel came down and sat on your shoulder and whispered in your ear ‘dah-dah-dah-dum.’ Never occurred to me that art was something worked out. And suddenly it was the skies opening up. As soon as you find out what a leading tone is, you think, Oh my God. What a diatonic scale is—Oh my God! The logic of it. And, of course, what that meant to me was: Well, I can do that. Because you just don’t know. You think it’s a talent, you think you’re born with this thing. What I’ve found and what I believe is that everybody is talented. It’s just that some people get it developed and some don’t.”
(x) on the one hand, it's unbelievably funny that sondheim is like, "everyone would be thrilled to learn about leading tones and diatonic scales. the fact that i felt this way about them has nothing to do with me having any kind of talent. this is just the normal way for people to respond." but on the other hand i truly love so much knowing that one of the great creative luminaries of his century agreed with me that Teaching People Stuff Is Good Actually.
