ok checking in for the evening <3 the sleeves have, as sleeves tend to do, caused a whole bunch of issues (honestly this is why i hate sleeves- its not that theyre particularly hard to put in but they just seem to pull a perfectly good pattern out of shape So Easily) but those are problems for future me, i think. im tempted to just throw in my sleeve pattern that i know works for me and go fro. there, but thats gonna be a chunk of work making the armholes fit together... so maybe its easier to work with the pattern that "goes" with this (but its not the right shape, either. so)

up until that point it was going well! i forgot how long it takes to move changes onto paper, though, god. but i was being Good, so thats gotta count for something. i have a couple more changes to make before i go into the real fabric

take in the side seams more (though lets see with the sleeves now, urgh)

shorten the button stand another inch

raise the waist at the back

think theres some things im gonna need to adjust further (mostly the fine tuning of the fitting), but they can be done in the final fabric i think. just gotta figure out the sleeves. all will be well

im alsp seepy but i cant sleep bc my HAIRS WET!! luckily it dries quicker now Due to rhe haircut but still looking at a 2 hour situation... but also i dont feel like gaming. i might cook I guess. or i could watch el movie 😏 but id have 2 get my laptop and likee. yk.. i could watch downstaurs but id have to be sure my roommates r Fully fully asleep bc i dont have headphones for my laptop (i have my phone headphones but i hate the abominable fucking thinks) so id have to just have that shit open to the elements. rawdogging the sound. caint do that if my roommates are up!

So I made a Mamianqun!

I've been wanting to make a one for so long. Then I saw this fabric in an outlet that sells faulty fabrics discarded from factories, where you can find some unusual stuff that you can't find in regular shops.

This fabric is supposed to have this print all over, but got only printed at the bottom. If you squint you can see faded print marks on the middle section too. The moment I saw this I immediately thought of a mamianqun because a lot of mamianqun come with bottom print 😍.

However do not copy me in this, because I only thought of the pattern and not the fact that the fabric is too bulky and heavy especially for dress with humongous volume. It does not make for for the nicest, crispiest pleats as you can see in the pictures below. Also this is gonna be such a pain to wash and dry.

But I will give myself a pat on the back because this is my first attempt, and for someone who has never taken a formal sewing class nor is able to properly follow any instructional guide because I'm scatterbrained like that, I think I did a pretty swell job! ☺

Even though it took me a whole damn day and numerous frustrating unpicking and redoing over and over again, lol.

Though I am not able to provide you a guide (because like I said, I myself am incapable of following any), I used the following four sources to get an idea about what I am trying to do to begin with. I studied these four, then attempted it myself and figured it out gradually as I went, through trial and error.

1. This helped me understand the overall geometry of the garment.

2. This gave me clear visual aid about what the end product should look like.

3. This doll-size mamianqun video was simple and gave a very good and non-complex demo of the process.

4. This helped me with understanding how to attach the waistband.

The modifications I added myself are:

Making the waistband a button-up. As the skirt was already so heavy, I thought a long strip of a tie would make it even more difficult to handle. But at the same time it is not easy to secure something like this so it wouldn't accidentally fall apart. So I used two sturdy buttons from the front, and another button in the back, from inside (you can't see it)

Adding pockets! In the 3rd source I posted above, at the 0:41 mark you see that there's this one huge pleat that gets folded inwards, right?

And I thought, two simple vertical and horizontal stitches from inside can turn them to pockets, so why not!

The final product! Yayyy!

- they have picnics by the river all the time

- she brought her to the seamstress one time and asked her to pick out some fabrics (she was making something for moana ofc)

- moana does the casita stair slide thing first time flawlessly (this drives camilo insane) also mirabel tripped whilst trying to demonstrate casita was not on her side that day🙏

- mirabel cant function when moana calls her by her full name

- moanas always showering her in kisses could be neck, forehead,cheeks,lips she just loves kissing her <3

- even though moana is aware mirabel can take care of herself she still is a lil bit protective

- she finds it cute when mirabel gets frustrated by something stupid like stubbing her toe

- moana is a really good listener and lets mirabel ramble for hours

- most of the time she is listening but otherwise she just loves the sound of her voice

- they’re both really big sleepers and often fall asleep on top of eachother

- moana loves casitas parties and always makes a bet with mirabel to see who can stay awake the longest

- moana loves picking mirabel up and spinning her around

- moana makes fun of mira’s height

Ichiji's daughter i am so SO proud of her fit. i did not look up a reference or even inspo ideas at all, that all came from the ole noggin baybeee. anyways she is obviously based off a magical girl(s) fit bc she wants and DESERVES to be. also since Reiju doesn't have any kids of her own (based wine aunt) i also decided to let Little Red have some of her motifs instead of just purely Ichiji's!! primarily the 66 on her pants but also all the pink on her instead of just red :) and obviously she has her dads number and while she DOES have a (white? bc like daddy shes a special little princess /aff) cape i didn't include it here bc it looked reallly bad lmao. but she does have one tucked into the bow probably!! there she is, Sparkling Red Neo!!! OKAY LET ME TALK ABOUT THE MOST MINISCULE YET MOST IMPORTANT DETAIL TO ME AND ME ALONE FIRST. that being the symbol on the brats belt. it was actually inspired/based off of this post which really stuck with me with me after reading it which i later realized was bc the "that something has been completely reversed" REMINDED ME OF THIS POST OF YOURS. i don't think im especially good at theory crafting but. idk i think there could be Something about how after judge came and turned germa into mercenaries their symbol turned from what once symbolized 'purity' into the skull of war mongers and then BACK to purity after 0124 get germa on the right path... poetry or smthn. ANYWAYS yah shoe shiners got a pretty basic fit bc like i said in the og ask, hes a sora warrior of the sea fan, once he saw the raidsuits irl methinks he'd want to stay pretty close to the og design. HOWEVER he refuses to drop the hat (much to Niji's dismay) and i came up with a reason besides 'its one piece and therefore there's GOTTA be a kid with a weird hat that they're attached to': and that is the fact that it hides his eyebrows. Little Red has the curly brows, all of Yonji's cabbage patch does too, and the brats the only one without. even if literally no one else notices or cares, he wants to hide the fact that he doesn't have em because it Separates him. and he doesn't want that. at all. he really, Really wants to be a part of this family (oh no i made it. angsty). I'm alone in the house now, it's a bit sad and spooky, but our doggo guards the door at night and I started a small sewing project (mockup for now, will have to go get the fabric later) to busy my hands with something. Also there's fresh veggies in the garden so it's not that bad yayyy
