I will never forget or forgive the damage Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon did for the autism community. "But Cupcake there are bigger issues to talk about when it comes to abelism" i KNOW but I am still fucking pissed off. People take Sheldon as an autism Icon when they have no idea what its like
My sister has an almost 2 year old who today was being fussy about sour cream touching her cheese while having dinner and refused to eat it unless it was Just cheese. She doesnt have the vocabulary to tell us so many things so half the time they only know she genuinely doesnt like something if she gags which is already an issue but whatever. My sisters shitty parenting skills are not the point here.
She sighed and made a comment how she "hopes she wont be like Sheldon, complaining that his peas touched his mashed potatoes". And I got this sinking mix of shame, anger and anxiety because what if she will be like that? That is a common autistic "problem", I have multiple friends on the spectrum who are like that as well
But because she knows it from that stupid show where its portrayed as just a thing he does and just a reoccuring inconviniance because hes fussy and self righteous she also associates it with Just Fussyness. She makes comments about how dramatic she is for not wanting to eat something she expressed her dislike for before
And yes sometimes kids are just like that where you can offer them some food and they dont want it, then retry with a different description (ex. A ham sandwich vs bread with butter and ham) and they will want it. That is one thing but traits sooooo heavily linked to autism being reduced to just a kid being dramatic is so fucking bad.
Im not sure if my niece is autistic. I am not a medical professional and also shes 2 but the comment is just... not it. BBT and YS keeps using autism traits to make a main character thats just quirky and fussy and annoying because thats his character and when people see those same traits in actual autistics they immediately label them as also just weird or dramatic or a handful

It's kind of funny how the dj crazytimes thing isnt just a spot on representation of eurodance but also the Tumblr community as a whole on a meta level.
Exhibit A. TikTok meme the entire site becomes obsessed with overnight to the point that some people think it's just fake and they're being goncharoved again.
Exhibit B. People already complaining about it being overdone 3 days after it was created
Exhibit C. Multiple anon messages in the tag whistleblowing that the guy is ableist for making young sheldon-esque skits about "annoying and unaccomodating kids", followed by an array of both posts claiming "something felt off about him all along" and that "posts claiming something felt off about him all along are full of shit they just didn't like the meme"
Exhibit D. Americans debating whether or not the song is racist

I KNEW IT ౨ৎ ⋆ 。˚ georgie cooper x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
word count: 1.1k || masterlist
summary: georgie confesses his feelings on the swingset
author's note: if he needs a dog i can bark. (takes place in early season five ish + doesn't follow the plot cause i can't be bothered to rewrite this)
Tumblr media
knock. knock. knock.
you waited outside of the cooper house, hands in your pockets. a few moments later, a young boy opened the door. he looked you up and down.
"um, hi! is georgie cooper here?" you asked, smiling at the boy.
he stared at you, before turning his head to the side. "georgie, theres a girl at the door looking for you," he called.
"a girl?" you heard a woman gasp.
georgie rushed into view, shoving the boy behind him. "hey, let's go!" he said quickly. the second he stepped a foot onto the porch, a woman came up behind him, putting a hand on his shoulder. he groaned.
"georgie," the woman smiled warningly, staring at him.
george shrugged her hand off and moved to stand next to you. "mom, this is y/n," he mumbled. "y/n, this is my mother."
"hi," you smiled, reaching out a hand to shake.
"well hello there," she replied. "you, uh, one of georgie's friends from school?"
"yes ma'am." you nodded. "we have math together."
the young boy poked his head out from behind his mother. "i'm in that class too."
"shut up, sheldon," georgie snapped. you swatted his arm.
"georgie, be nice," you scolded. he rubbed his arm, mockingly repeating your words.
"where are y'all off to?" mrs. cooper asked. she raised an eyebrow at her son.
georgie huffed. "mom. i'm seventeen, i dont nee—"
he was cut off by a piercing glare from his mother.
he groaned. "the park, now can we go?" he grabbed your hand, turning to leave. it felt like a swarm of butterflies were just released in your stomach. mrs. cooper cleared her throat.
you laughed and pulled georgie back. "the park just down the road from the elementary school, mrs. cooper."
she beamed at your politeness. "i like her," she told georgie, who's face flushed. "right, now, georgie, you make sure to walk this nice young lady home, alright?"
"i know, mom," georgie whined. "can we go?"
"fine," she said, huffing.
georgie grinned and started dragging you away, yelling out a "bye" over his shoulder.
you looked back and called, "bye, mrs. cooper! it was nice meeting you!"
᭝☆
as you and georgie walked to the park, he made it a point to always walk on the road side of the sidewalk. the two of you talked and talked, about school and work and movies and more, until you couldn't think of anything else to talk about. usually, you would've called into a comfortable silence, but today was different. it was too quiet, too tense. it was obvious there was something lingering between the two of you. as you walked, your hands kept brushing against each other, and you had to stop yourself from intertwining your hands.
the sun was setting as the two of you made it to the park, a slight chill settling into the air.
he sat down on the swing next to you, turning his head. light from the fading sun caught his eyes, turning their brown hue into a shimmering gold.
"so..." georgie started.
"so..." you replied, turning to look at him. your gaze flicked down to his lips and you looked away quickly. "that test in math was so hard. i definitely bombed it."
"right? i just put a/c/d/c for all the answer choices," georgie complained.
"like the band?" you laughed, toeing your shoe in the dirt under the swing.
"yeah, like the band," he chuckled. "either i put acdc or i just straight up didn't answer the questions."
you snorted. "im not surprised."
he put his hands up in defense. "hey, we already have a sheldon. don't need another smartass."
you rolled you eyes at your friend. "you could at least try," you said.
he hummed noncommittally in response. you could feel his gaze on you as he pushed his swing back and forth.
"i broke up with jana," he said suddenly.
"what?" you turned to look at him. he was still staring at you, the last of the sun's light casting shadows across the ground. "oh, georgie.. thats— i'm sorry," you offered as an attempt at comfort. you couldn't help the flutter in your heart.
"eh. 's alright. i'd been meaning to do it for a while, just... never found the opportunity."
"well..." the two of you spent a few moments in silence, trying to find the words to say. "i'm always here if you want to talk."
"thats... um, actually why i wanted to come here."
"oh?" you said, tearing your gaze away from him to push yourself on the swings. "why?"
"well, um. the reason i broke up with her is.." he paused, seemingly trying to gather his thoughts.
"you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to," you said.
"no, i want to." he kissed his teeth, staring off into the distance.
"y'know how sometimes, you're with one person but you're thinking about someone else?" he asked.
"mhm..?" you said, an inkling of an idea seeping into your mind.
"everytime i was with jana, i was thinking of someone else," he admitted quietly.
"really?" you glanced at him out of the corner of your eye and saw him nod. "who?"
he fell completely silent, digging the toe of his scuffed up sneakers into the dirt below him.
"you."
your heart stopped. you? you? this couldn't be happening. you had dreamed about this moment since the day you realized you had feelings for the brunette, but you had never thought he might feel the same.
"me?" you managed.
"you," he repeated. "y/n, you're the nicest girl i've ever met. you're funny, and sweet, and you're my best friend."
"you're also really damn pretty," he added.
"georgie.." the words you wanted to say were right on the tip of your tongue, but you couldn't seem to push them out. "i- i don't-"
he stood up from the swing, hooking his thumbs in his belt loops. "i get it if you don't feel the same. i just thought you should know," he mumbled, starting to walk away.
"georgie, wait," you said, quickly getting up from the swing. you tripped over a rock and stumbled forward, slamming into his chest. georgie's arms instinctively wrapped around you to keep you from falling.
"yeah?" he breathed out.
"i- i lo-"
your words were cut off when his lips found their way onto yours. the world seemed to stop spinning as georgie kissed you. it was just you and him under a vast expanse of stars and sky. he kissed you like he had been waiting for it his whole life, like you were some goddess he was worshipping.
when you finally pulled away, panting slightly, he was smiling down at you. "i knew it," he grinned.
"oh, shut up," you groaned, swatting his arm.
he laughed, kissing you again.
"i've loved you since the day i met you, y/n," he said when he pulled away. "i just didn't know how to tell you."

Georgie Cooper x Fem! Reader Taglist | Request | Wattpad Main Masterlist | Other Actors/Characters Masterlist Requested Anonymously: "Hi, i was wondering if you could do Georgie cooper x reader who has an abusive father or smt and he helps her, tries to get her to move in with him to his family house and after his begging for weeks she finally agrees? Thank you if you do." Summary: When Georgie finds you on his porch bleeding and bruised, he finds the need to avenge you. Warnings: Abuse, Slut Shaming, Angst, Protective! Georgie, Not Proofread Words: 2.4K
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Georgie Cooper may not be the smartest man alive, but when it came to the people he loved, he was protective of them. So when you showed up at the Cooper residence all beaten up, you were nervous.
About a year ago, your dad lost his job and ended up spending his days and nights drinking his life away. Since then, he'd found a new job, but the drinking never stopped.
As time went by, drinking led to harmless fits of rage to you and your mother hiding away in a room until your father fell asleep. Trying your best to get away from your father, you joined after-school clubs and helped tutor kids.
That's how you met Georgie.
Georgie was failing almost half of his classes, and if he wanted to stay on the football team, he had to get his F's to at least a C. So, he asked around, and everyone he talked to said that besides Sheldon, you were the one to go to. And he did.
Surprisingly enough, you and Georgie got along. The two of you worked hard, and as his grades got to where he needed them, you still kept in touch. You would have lunch with him and his friends, and sometimes join him at the movies. You two even became each other's wingman, with him giving you advice on boys and you vice versa.
All was good until the day you allowed Georgie to walk you home. Being the gentleman he was, Georgie walked you home every day, but the home he was walking you to was actually a few blocks down from your own. You told him that was your house because you didn't want to risk your father finding out that you were friends with a guy.
But today was different. You and Georgie had just left the movies and you both couldn't stop talking about it on your journey home.
"Did you see that alien?" Georgie laughed.
"Yes, oh my goodness. When it first came onto the screen I was so scared," You said, with a soft laugh.
Georgie looked over at you. Still holding the theater popcorn, he popped a handful into his mouth and began making weird creature sounds, which startled you a bit. You jumped and released a scream.
Georgie laughed harder than before and shook his head. "It's so easy," he said, talking about how easy it was to scare you. You teasingly punched him with a long grin before grabbing some popcorn.
Unknowingly, you and Georgie had passed up the house you had told him was your house and were quickly making your way to your actual home.
When you arrived at your house, your smile was gone as you quickly realized your mistake.
"Oh, dang it!" Georgie said, flinging his arms in the air in disappointment. "We passed your house."
You worriedly looked at the door to your house, ignoring the boy next to you. "You should go," you told Georgie as you noticed the living room curtains abruptly shut.
"What?" Georgie asked, confused.
Georgie looked over at you to see that the playful smile that you once wore was replaced with a sunken frown and a look of fear in your eyes. He followed your line of sight to see your home.
"Y/N, this isn't your home. I'm not leaving you to walk the streets alone at night."
Your lip quivered as you continued to stare at the window. "Georgie, go home," you muttered, but Georgie just shook his head.
"Y/N, what's going on. This-"
"This is my home, Georgie! Now please... leave."
Your fear overwhelmed you as you watched a dark figure walk past the window. Georgie looked back at you confused. He knew you wouldn't move until he left, so even though he didn't want to, he did as he was told and left.
He turned and left, only looking back when he got to the end of the street. He looked back and watched as you entered the dark house. An uneasy feeling washed over Georgie, but he continued home, waiting till tomorrow to ask his questions.
———
Georgie had only been home an hour when he heard the doorbell. He ignored the door and continued reading his magazine. He questioned who would be coming over at 10 o'clock at night. His door was cracked open as he heard his mother answer the door.
"Y/N?" he heard his mother ask, slightly worried, making his head poke up from behind his magazine. Georgie slowly stood from his bed as he wondered why you would be here after he left you at what was actually your home.
Georgie walked into the living room and froze.
You stood at the door with messed up hair, a black eye, and ripped-up clothes. Your eyes met his, and suddenly, he understood why you were so scared, earlier.
"Y/N?" Georgie called out your name as he walked over to you. You were shaking, which Mary had quickly noticed.
"Here... let's get you out of the cold and inside." Mary softly grabbed your arm and moved you into their home before closing the door. She led you to the couch and Georgie followed close behind you.
"George!" Mary called out for her husband.
A few seconds later a slightly annoyed George Cooper exited his room. "What," he said, a bit aggressively, causing Y/N to flinch.
"Oh dear," Mary said after seeing Y/N's reaction. "George, grab the first aid kit. I'm gonna put some soup on."
"Why?" George said, confused, stepping into the living room. His eyes shifted from his wife to the figure on the couch. He moved closer to get a better look at who was on the couch. When he saw it was Y/N, George was in shock. "Y/N? What happened?"
"I would like to know that as well," Georgie said, standing behind his parents with his arms crossed. He kept his gaze strictly on Y/N. Georgie was angry. Not at Y/N, but at whoever did this.
"Yes, I would like to know that as well, but can we at least stitch her up first," Mary said before leaving for the kitchen.
"Oh, right," George agreed, leaving to grab the first aid.
With his parents gone, Georgie took the opportunity to talk to you alone. He slowly stepped forward, joining you on the couch. Georgie opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. Instead, you laid your head on his shoulder as you silently cried.
"Who did this to you?" Georgie asked in a soft tone.
On the outside, Georgie was prepared to do whatever to help you feel better, but on the inside, Georgie was angry. He wanted to kill whoever did this to you. You were everything to Georgie. If he could, he'd give you the world.
You closed your eyes and sniffled before answering the boy. "My dad," you whispered. Your cries became louder, making Georgie tense up. Unsure what to do, he placed a loving kiss on your forehead and whispered sweet nothings into your ear.
He did this for a few minutes before George came back with the first aid kit and a wet cloth.
"Okay. It took me a second, but I finally found it," George said, kneeling down in front of you. "Mind telling us what happened?" George asked, as he grabbed her arm and started wiping off the blood.
You hesitated. Just thinking about what happened brought you into a spiral. But Georgie quickly calmed you down by calmly running his fingers through your hair, trying to fix what your dad messed up.
"My dad is an alcoholic," you started. "He has been for a year. And it wasn't until recently that he started getting... physical."
"Your dad did this?" George asked. You nodded, and George went back to cleaning you up.
Mary soon came into the room with a bowl of soup. "Here you go, darling?" She placed the bowl on the side table and stood next to her kneeling husband.
"Thank you, Mrs. Cooper," you gave her a small smile, before continuing. "Anyways, I started joining after-school activities to get away from all the chaos. That's how I met Georgie."
"Wait. So this has been going on since before you met Georgie," Mary asked with a frown. You nodded.
"I didn't want Georgie to get hurt. So, when he asked if he could walk me home, I told him a fake address, so my father wouldn't see him. But today, the night got ahead of us and we passed the house we were supposed to stop at."
Georgie was livid. You were so scared of your father that you lied to protect him. No one should have to avoid their own home.
"We stopped in front of my house, and my father saw."
You paused and suddenly, more tears started flooding your eyes. You tried to speak, but your throat felt tight. Georgie rubbed your back and calmly waited. It took you a minute, but you were finally able to talk again.
"I made sure Georgie left before going into the house, where I knew he was waiting for me. My dad can be unpredictable when he drinks and I didn't want him to attack Georgie."
You wiped your eyes as you kept your gaze down toward your lap.
"When I entered he was just sitting there in the dark... Waiting. When he started talking to me, I knew by his soft voice that I would be in trouble, so I did exactly as he said and answered all his questions truthfully."
You paused, taking a deep breath.
"He grabbed me by the throat and called me a "slut". But it didn't stop there..."
"Oh, lord," Mary muttered to herself.
"When he finally let go of me, he punched me so hard that I fell to the ground. Then he climbed on top of me and began to rip up my clothes. He said that if I was going to be a slut, then I needed to look the part. As he tore up my clothes, I could feel his nails ripping into my skin, hence the scratches."
You paused again, sobbing into your hand.
It took everything in Georgie not to go to your house and teach your father a lesson about treating girls, especially daughters, but he kept his composure.
"I tried to scream for help, but no one came. I saw my mom standing in the doorway, but she didn't do anything. She just stood there... watching. When my dad was done, he dragged me out of the house and locked me out. That's when I decided to come here."
"Oh, you poor thing," Mary frowned with a hand over her chest. She moved toward you and pulled you out of Georgie's arms and into hers. She held you tight as you sobbed loudly against her shirt.
"It's really terrible that you had to go through all that. You don't deserve that. No one does," George said, throwing in his two cents.
Georgie stood from his spot on the couch. "I wanna kill him!" Georgie said, making his way to the door, but he was quickly stopped by his father's grip on his arm. "We're not killing anybody," George said, but that didn't stop Georgie from wanting to go over to your house and beat the living daylights out of your father.
"I think it's been a long night for all of us, so we should all get some sleep. I'm gonna grab some blankets. Georgie, you want to help get the couch ready?" Mary asked, giving you a smile.
"Actually, can I sleep with Georgie? I don't feel comfortable being alone."
Mary was unsure if letting you sleep with Georgie was the right move. She looked over at George, who just shrugged, and then back at you. You looked so sad, and Mary just couldn't say no to someone who's been through all that.
She nodded and sent you another sad smile, which you thankfully returned. "Georgie, take Y/N to your room, and i'll be in their soon with some spare pajamas and blankets. I want to talk to your dad about something."
Georgie's eyes widened, "You aren't seriously thinking about sending her back there, are you?"
Mary was taken aback by her son's outburst. "No," she shook her head. "No, I would never say that. Just go help Y/N so your father and I can talk alone."
Georgie let out a huff, not in the mood to go back and forth with his mother. "Come on, Y/N," He beckoned you to follow him, and you did just that without any hesitation.
———
You entered Georgie's room and made a quick B-line to his bed. You carefully removed your shoes and lay down. It was safe to say that after the night you had, you were exhausted.
"I know it's a mess, but I wasn't exactly expecting company," Georgie said from across the room. He picked up some of his clothes from off the floor and threw them into an empty hamper. When he was done, he turned to see you knocked out on his bed.
Someone knocked at Georgie's door, making him flinch before turning to see who it was. Mary stood at the door, still wearing that same smile from earlier as she held onto a folded blanket and nightgown.
"I just came to drop these off," Mary spoke in a slightly hushed tone.
"I think you're a bit late for that," Georgie responded, pointing back at you as you slept soundly in his bed.
Mary nodded. "Okay, then I will just leave these right here," she placed the folded blanket and piece of clothing on the corner of the bed next to the bed.
"Thanks, Mom," Georgie smiled, making Mary's smile grow wider.
"No problem, honey," she said before making her way out of the room.
With his mom gone and you sleep, Georgie quickly got ready for bed and joined you. He lay on his back, staring up at the ceiling.
"I swear. Next time someone even thinks about hurting you, I won't hesitate to kill 'em." Georgie knew no one was listening, but he still continued express his feelings toward you.
"I love you," he said to you, leaning over to place a kiss on your forehead before turning off the lights and falling asleep.

hey so how do you think rottmnt Leo, Raph and Donnie would deal with a s/o who sometimes gives their pet more attention than them? S/o sometimes just falls asleep cuddling the pet or others it’s with the turtles and the pet just comes and lays on top of them or watches them sleep. The pet also loves these 3 boys so it goes to them for affection, but it loves s/o more cuz s/o did raise it? S/o always gives their favourite boyfriend affection second for sure though and it lasts all night and day after their pet gets dibs.
Thanks for the request! This is such a cute idea.
Leonardo:
The most jealous man you will ever meet. He will sit and pout if your attention is off of him for more than two minutes. And if you ignore his pouting, then he will cause absolute chaos. He will give your pet the death glare, and he will absolutely have a one-sided competition with your pet behind your back. If he sees your pet laying in HIS spot your lap), he will just pick the up and put them on the ground and take their place before you get the chance to scold him, and before your pet has the chance to climb back up. It's just constant petty bullshit, if one of them is getting your attention, then the other one needs to as well. You will have no peace.
Raphael:
This is a non-issue, he probably loves your pet more than you do, and the second he lays eyes on it, he decides that it is now his baby too. He buys your pet cute little outfits, and premium food and toys. If you're giving your pet attention, chances are Raph is too. Hell, you might end up getting jealous over how much attention your pet gets.
Donatello:
I feel like Donnie could go either way. Like, it really depends on the circumstances. He understands the love that is felt for a creature that relies on you (his baby, Shelly c:) and wouldn't mind if your pet was stealing attention that should have rightfully been his if you guys were just doing some parallel play or just hanging out in the same vicinity, but if it was an activity/time where your attention would have fully been on him, then he'd get a little annoyed. He would probably start by just trying to divert your attention back to him, and if that didn't work then he might call Sheldon in using his wrist cuff to get him to herd your pet a bit farther away. Not so far that you're worried, but just enough that your attention is back on him. (sheldon would LOVE your pet, they'd be like siblings)

Common Dreams
Jan. 6, 2024
"Billionaires attempting to influence politics from the shadows should not be rewarded with taxpayer subsidies," said Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse.
Legislation introduced Tuesday by a pair of Democratic lawmakers would close a loophole that lets billionaires donate assets to dark money organizations without paying any taxes.
The U.S. tax code allows write-offs when appreciated assets such as shares of stock are donated to a charity, but the tax break doesn't apply when the assets are given to political groups.
However, donations to 501(c)(4) organizations—which are allowed to engage in some political activity as long as it's not their primary purpose—are exempt from capital gains taxes, a loophole that Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif.) are looking to shutter with their End Tax Breaks for Dark Money Act.
Whitehouse, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee who has focused extensively on the corrupting effects of dark money, said the need for the bill was made clear by what ProPublica and The Lever described as "the largest known donation to a political advocacy group in U.S. history."
The investigative outlets reported in 2022 that billionaire manufacturing magnate Barre Seid donated his 100% ownership stake in Tripp Lite, a maker of electrical equipment, to Marble Freedom Trust, a group controlled by Federalist Society co-chairman Leonard Leo.
The donation, completed in 2021, was worth $1.6 billion. According to ProPublica and The Lever, the structure of the gift allowed Seid to avoid up to $400 million in taxes.
"It's a clear sign of a broken tax code when a single donor can transfer assets worth $1.6 billion to a dark money political group without paying a penny in taxes," Whitehouse said in a statement Tuesday. "Billionaires attempting to influence politics from the shadows should not be rewarded with taxpayer subsidies."
"We cannot allow millionaires and billionaires to run roughshod over our democracy and then reward them for it with a tax break."
If passed, the End Tax Breaks for Dark Money Act would ensure that donations of appreciated assets to 501(c)(4) organizations are subjected to the same rules as gifts to political action committees (PACs) and parties.
"Thanks to the far-right Supreme Court, billionaires already have outsized influence to decide our nation's politics; through a loophole in the tax code, they can even secure massive public subsidies for lobbying and campaigning when they secretly donate their wealth to certain nonprofits instead of traditional political organizations," said Chu. "We can decrease the impact the wealthy have on our politics by applying capital gains taxes to donations of appreciated property to nonprofits that engage in lobbying and political activity—the same way they are already treated when made to traditional political organizations like PACs."
The new bill comes amid an election season that is already flooded with outside spending.
The watchdog OpenSecrets reported last month that super PACs and other groups "have already poured nearly $318 million into spending on presidential and congressional races as of January 14—more than six times as much as had been spent at this point in 2020."
Thanks to the Supreme Court's 2010 Citizens United ruling, super PACs can raise and spend unlimited sums on federal elections—often without being fully transparent about their donors.
Morris Pearl, chairman of the Patriotic Millionaires, said Tuesday that "there is no justifiable reason why wealthy people like me should be allowed to dominate our political system by donating an entire $1.6 billion company to a dark money political group."
"But perhaps more egregious is the $400 million tax break that comes from doing so," said Pearl. "It's a perfect example of how this provision in the tax code is used by the ultrawealthy to manipulate the levers of government while simultaneously dodging their obligation to pay taxes. We cannot allow millionaires and billionaires to run roughshod over our democracy and then reward them for it with a tax break."
