K, so I'm in a depressive episode, and I'm craving chocolate. Nobody probably cares, but here's what type of chocolate members of Team Tadpole prefer and how I think they'd react to receiving it as a gift! This is purely headcannons, and I haven't been able to play the game in a few months, so if I get something wrong, don't be mad at me, lol.

Shadowheart: She absolutely adores dark chocolate, and she's absolutely one of those pretentious fuckers who hate milk chocolate, and take anything other than 90-100% cacao as an insult on their fucking bloodline. She does think that she's better than you for liking Dark chocolate- This does not change if she gets her 'good' ending.

If you bring her her favorite type of chocolate, she will not only be impressed but grateful. I feel like she probably has chronic migraines or something and would enjoy sharing it with you some late night with a bottle of wine and a charcuterie board. Probably making flower crowns or feeding animals in a meadow, basic cottagecore lesbian romance stuff. I could be wrong, I've never romanced Shadowheart, but it's just a gut feeling.

Karlach: Karlach likes milk chocolate best, and doesn't see the point in putting up with something bitter just because some people think it's 'better'. More than anything, it reminds her of her mums baking, back when she was a kid. Chocolate is expensive and hard to get your hands on, but by god when the holidays came around or her birthday, I feel like her mum would've baked her the best cookies or chocolate chip muffins after working extra hard to afford it.

Karlach would love whatever type of chocolate you gave her, but I think especially if you brought her hot chocolate or chocolate chip cookies/Muffins/etc, she might even tear up a little. After all, she hasn't had something like that since her mom died.

Wyll: Wyll is a proud enjoyer of chocolate in general, but actually seems to favor white chocolate and dark chocolate the best. He likes to enjoy the contrast in flavors.

I feel like Wyll would just be grateful to be given chocolates, and wouldn't care much what form they came in. He'd probably invite you to enjoy them alongside him, and simply spend time with one another. I do believe he loves dark hot chocolate with whipped cream, and would probably try to set up a day to go to his favorite cafe in baldurs gate for hot chocolate, to return the favor. It's a treat for him, too, since he hasn't been there since his father cast him out. It'll bring a wave of nostalgia, and maybe some unkind memories.. But he will feel happy to be there. Especially to be there with you. And maybe, it'll become a much more common thing.

Astarion: I feel like he prefers dark chocolate, if he's able to eat it at all (I don't remember how vampires work in DnD.)..

If he can't eat it, I feel like he'd miss it.. the simple things. Pleasures like imported chocolates. He might go on a monologue about things he enjoyed as a Mortal that he no longer can.-.. If he can, however, eat chocolate.. I think he'd be surprised. Surprised you thought of him, surprised you spent the money, surprised you wanted to give him anything at all. I think he'd be very happy, but he probably wouldn't want to show it. He'd brush it off with a sarcastic comment or something, yet still taking the mental note that if nobody else cared, at least you did.

Gale: Gale is the most pretentious motherfucker there is, are you kidding me? I think he, himself, loves milk chocolate and it's a major guilty pleasure, but he tells everyone it's dark chocolate. He doesn't shame anyone for their preference, but there comes an air of arrogance whenever he says he likes dark chocolate.

He will definitely be grateful no matter what type you give him, but if you give him milk chocolate and tell him you know it's his favorite? He might try to deny it at first, but his heart is beating a mile a fucking minute knowing that you've been observant enough to bring him his actual favorite type without making a big deal about it, or calling him a liar.

Lae’zel: Has never had chocolate before, and doesn't know why you're giving it to her. She does, however, adore white chocolate after you get her to try some. You'd assume she'd prefer dark, but she doesn't. She believes that if you're going to have a sweet, or a desert, it shouldn't be bitter because that defeats the purpose.

After you get her to try it the first time, she'll insist she doesn't like it or see the reason for it, but at any party or gathering or anything where there's chocolate? She's sampling the fuck out of that snack table, and hovering over the bowl of sweets like a dragon guarding a hoard of treasure. She actually really likes fancy chocolates and truffles. If you bring them to her while in an established relationship, she won't act very different, but she's very happy and feels very loved.

🔥 thoughts on the popular aesthetics? (cottagecore, dark academia, etc)

I personally kinda like them but i’m also annoyed whenever someone says something super generalizing like “gay people love cottagecore” or whenever people have no self awareness when it comes to the negative aspects of those aesthetics, such as romanizing classism and colonialism

I've talked about my issues with cottagecore many times, to the point where I've received hate mail because of it lol

My thoughts on cottagecore are pretty simple: it's not wrong to daydream about wanting to garden or own a cottage out in the country. The issue I've always had with it is the egregious amount of TERFs and tradwives who would sneak their way into this aesthetic while also trying to spread their gross ideologies of either radfem rhetoric or Christian 'traditional gender roles' crap. That's why I started using #cottagepunk instead because I didn't want to be associated with those people at all but I still wanted to post about that aesthetic since I was raised in a rural, mountainous area.

I like dark academia simply as an aesthetic because it reminds me of my own time in college, studying and going to the library/cafe with my friends. So for me, it was more about nostalgia and missing that time in my life and less about seeing myself as 'inherently smarter' just because I read classic books or whatever. Honestly, I was usually the one 'academic' that spent more time reading cozy mysteries and sketching instead of boring myself to death reading long, jargon-filled articles. Though, granted, I was a poor kid who went to school for filmmaking so my experience in 'higher education' was already very different than what typical dark academia presents it as.

Overall, I love many different aesthetics on tumblr but I genuinely can't stand when privileged people take them over and make it uncomfortable for minorities to enjoy themselves in these spaces. Like, with so many 'secret' white supremacists in the cottagecore tag, I couldn't 100% enjoy it as a poc. With so many obnoxious, classist people in the dark academia tag, again, I couldn't enjoy it 100% as a working class poc. Even the goth, witchy, and plenty of other aesthetics I loved blogging about, couldn't really hold my attention because of how pretentious or straight up evil some people would be towards anyone who didn't 'fit' into the aesthetic in their eyes.

That's kind of why I prefer to mash a bunch of aesthetics together and kind of create my own aesthetic out of it! I think more folks should start doing that, as well, so there's less of these rigid and vague 'rules' about who can be a part of certain aesthetic or not.

3. How did you find the visuals for this fic? Is there a method you have?

I've spent literally years being vaguely adjacent to Dark and Light Academia Tumblr, so I definitely drew on that aesthetic when thinking about the general vibe of Yale. Other than that, I modeled places on real places, even if they weren't really in the place I said they were in the fic. for example, I modeled Seb's basement classroom on the classroom at my college where I took my introductory CS class. The hotel room in Maine is modeled on a hotel room elsewhere in New England where I once stayed with my partner. etc. (Kimi's house is literally just a cottagecore fantasy lol.) Visuals are really hard for me because I tend not to Notice Details of Places, so I tried to think back to places I've been and pick out details.

7. What inspired the idea for the plot?

oooh, great question. as you and I have discussed, I tend to think about plots in terms of overall shapes, filling in the outline and then the scenes that really draw me. I started with the opening scene, Lewis and Nico hooking up at a conference, and wrote Act IV not long after. I knew I wanted Lewis and Seb to have Drama, thought about Lewis hooking up with Nico again, realized I wouldn't be able to walk that back for the reader because 90% of Lewis's character development in this fic is getting over Nico, remembered that Charles was kicking around in Daniel's discussion section in the Daniel POV fic and.... boom. Instant Sebchal drama plotline.

a couple of the beats of Seb and Lewis's relationship are actually loosely modeled on a friends-with-benefits situation that I had once, which progressed from hooking up to spending most nights together to going out of town for a long weekend that culminated in the (because this is real life and not fanfic) absolutely idiotic idea that we should try making love on purpose. DO NOT try this one at home kids lmao it ended terribly. but a decade-ish later I can be like oh hey, if that hadn't crashed and burned, it would have been a great romance plot.

The emotional energy of Lewis's final confrontation with Nico is in many ways the wish-fulfillment fantasy of a final breakup with closure that I never got to have with one of my exes.

21. What is something you didn’t expect people to notice or gravitate towards in this fic?

as mentioned in my answer to 3, I think of myself as really bad with details and visuals, so I was shocked by how many people said the details and the visuals were one of their favorite parts of the fic. I got an ask about the details shortly after I published it asking how I brought the place to life so well, and what I said at the time was that I put a lot of thought into how the characters would inhabit the space-- my example was Lewis eating his Sad Birthday Cupcake alone at the cafe, which feels so much more vivid than if I had told you that the cafe on that corner is called Claire's. But I think that might also be selling myself a little short, and that because I know I'm not great with details, I consciously put a lot of effort into them, and that effort paid off.

you and akaashi scurried across the street, trying to get away from the pouring rain. it had ruined the date that he had planned at the park today. “i’m sorry the rain ruined our date beautiful. because you looked absolutely stunning in that dress.” he grabbed your hand and twirled you around slowly.

The class all look at eachother with the same worried look on their faces and agree to come up with a plan together to figure out whats going on. After agreeing on the plan to tell Bakugo that they were all going out for one day and placing cameras all around the dorm hallways and common room, they all agreed to meet up at the class and set the camera screen in the classes screen. Like the projector each class has irl All they had to do is hope that Bakugo takes the bait and instead of taking the group of strangers to his room, it happens outside of it.

Bakugos' POV⬇️

All of the idiots from his class mysteriously headed out without any warning. He had just finished up setting up his room to watch the first episode of "Kiss her not Me" Kiss him not Me Genderbend with the Katsucrew. Seika had recommended he watch it since she had heard it was supposedly really good. And she wanted to watch it with someone.. Cottagecore was pesstering him about it for a while until he gave in. They were gonna watch it in his room until his classmates decides they weren't gonna annoy him today. So he had a change in plans that he didn't mind, considering the Tv in the common room was bigger than the screen on his laptop. As stubborn as he may have seemed, he really wanted to watch the new Anime. So he called up the Katsucrew to come as quickly as possible so they didnt waste any time. Once they were in the dorms and prepared everything in the common room, they all sat down in the couch, some on the floor in front of them and started watching the first episode.

Class 1-A POV⬇️

Class 1-A, thankfully, had a camera hidden behind the Tv. So they could see the Katsucrew prepare the common room for something. They looked like they were preparing it for a movie? To say the least they were confused, especially when they saw Bakugo..excited? They kept on watching the footage with suspense and anicipation the whole time. And to see what the crew was watching they had a camera behind them as well. To say the least it was obvious that Iida, Yaoyorozu, and Deku were the ones in charge of the cameras

Moments later passed and they were at they were at the part where Serinumo Serinuma Genderbend and Igaracha Igarachi Genderbend were watching the play together. And when they held hands...Bakugo, Henshuu, and Seika screeched like animals..

8: Best trip you’ve ever been on? In January 2018 I stayed with my sister when she still lived in Virginia and hung around Charlottesville for about a month. lol We ate Chopt and Noodles and Co all the time and I gained like 10 lbs from all the Japanese pan noodles I ate. :P And then at the beginning of Feb 2018 she and I traveled by train from VA to NYC in the middle of winter and froze our asses off for 3 days. But I got to see Wicked on Broadway, and had dinner at Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square twice. I need to go back to NYC some day so I can go to that Serendipity cafe and get a frozen hot chocolate and to visit Central Park. lol

9: Favorite thing about your room? Usually I would say my large window because I love the sunlight. But lately it’s been so damn hot that I have to keep my curtains closed. I also like how it’s kinda coming together more ever since I started redecorating a bit. I bought a folding screen that I’m using as a headboard, and I got some new blankets and pillows for my bed. I have some houseplants too that make it feel more adult in here despite all the stuffed animals I refuse to get rid of. :P

12: Who do you look up to? I kinda look up to the author Victoria Schwab. She’s just so knowledgeable about the writing craft and even though she’s a hot mess of anxiety I really love the way she views and talks about stories. 13: Favorite poet? ummm... haha I don’t really have one... I’ve never really enjoyed poetry. lol a crime possibly considering my BA in English. :P
