Heroes of Olympus: growing up headcanons

• Percy drops out of college and becomes a whale watch tour guide (fic)

• Percy teaches advanced swordsmanship classes at CHB in the off-season

• Percy and Annabeth get married (fic) and have two kids (textpost)

Percy is a stay at home dad when the kids are young

• Annabeth gets diagnosed with Autism at the same time as her daughter Hallie

• Annabeth becomes an architect

• Leo and Calypso break up when Calypso gets more comfortable with the modern world and stops needing Leo as a guide. They stay friends though, because Calypso will always be greatful for what Leo did for her

• Leo opens his machine shop and supplies CHB with cool weapons and shit. He teaches machine shop for younger Hephaestus kids

• Calypso starts dating Piper (fic)

• Piper goes into Women's Studies, ultimately becomes a movie critic

• Calypso writes a book about uses of plants in magic, things the modern world has forgotten

• She uses the name Calypso Selinódantéla, meaning Moonlace

• Frank and Hazel break up and date other people for 10+ years, then try again in their late twenties. This time, they work as a couple.

• When Frank retires from the Legion he becomes an archery instructor

• Hazel writes/draws a graphic novel that takes place in the 1940s, drawing on her own experience and exploring the life she didn't get to have

• She also works in a stable, giving riding lessons to kids

judging by the end of “I’m not sorry for loving you” i realized that Oddy probably would’ve been fine with being a friend or a shoulder to lean on for Calypso if she didn’t try to become his lover and didn’t rape him for 7 years….Hell, even after she tried to make him love her and, again, Sexually assault him for Seven Years, he friendsones her. i feel the need to point out that Odysseus has recently received a prophecy about his family being in danger because of his absence. he wants to get home, yes, but also he needs to get home to protect them.

Yeah,so uhhh when is leo gonna find out what calypso did to uhhh odysseus from epic the musical. Okay,I don't blame calpyso for not having anyone in the island but its out of boundaries of calpso to try and force odysseus a married man to love her and nearly try to force herself upon him.

I'll be honest i completely forgot calypso even existed lol. never liked her or her rudeness towards leo, especially when you compare how differently percy was treated by her. she proved that the halo effect is REAL. when leo said something along the lines of 'calyspo would fall for jason immediately' bc of how handsome he is my heart SHATTERED :(( honestly when he swore on river styx to return to her, i verbally said out loud 'dude have some self respect' lol

also when she cursed annabeth omgg and annabeth went blind i sobbed I felt so bad :((

But I don't hate her in AU's like this where she's nice, because what the Styx do I hate her for them?!??!? existing???????

It's like with the sharpwolf ship - I hate it in canon, I think it's actually a really cool ship if antinuous was maybe a decade or two younger and not a zeus doppelganger

Writing a Calypso AU in which basically...

No boundaries get crossed after Odysseus tells her no and they just end up getting a father/daughter relationship(using the pjo myth that she's trapped also)

To be clear this also follows the 'Calypso has the mind of a child" thing

They end up bonding and when Hermes comes to pick him up, he takes Calypso also and suddenly Telemachus has a sister :)

Yes, I am aware of the original story and what Calypso did. Yes, i know none of this aligns with that. Just let me have something happy please.

Please dont kill me if you dont like Calypso/Calypso portrayed in a sympathetic way I've gotten yelled at enough already

percy jackson really isnt a piece of media that needs romance. like the beautity of percabeth (THE straight ship for gay people) is that its there but in the background theyre their own people. what made piper and jason so doomed was the fact that (well besides hera's influence) theyre entire character arcs were centered around them dating. like jason litearlly didnt have a personality outside of piper like at all and once piper found out that jason and her werent actually dating she became a 2d character going Should I Date Him Or Should I Not.... Mother Help and it just made their relationship so boring. when you think about leo and calypso the beauty of their relationship is that its There and more than percabeth but it wasnt a main aspect like leo went back to save calypso and that was beautiful and now theyre together or whatever but leo had his entire character arc outside of calpso. calypso was an already preestablished character before leo. thats what makes solangelo so sad imo because they ARE cute together i can admit that but their character arcs have become too wrapped up in eachother. like the only reason nicos getting his own book is because of will and will wasnt even a main character before nico. so its just so tragic because why i DOUBT rick would make them break up like piper and jason did it feels like its dipping back into that same water and people are just okay with it because its gay. like im fine with them being a couple but nico needs to grow and cope without will and will needs to grow as a charcter without nico the way percy and annabeth did. like percy jackso is not a piece of media that needs romance to be a main plot point thats why the first series is so good but as soon as romance becomes a center plot point a good amount of the impacce of the story just looses its substance. percy and annabeth in tataurus was such a like. idk the word i always DREADED their chapters because at that point it became 'a couple going through hell toghether' instead of 'two people who grew up together going to hell together' and like i GET IT you can only convey so much depth in a childrens series but percy and annabeht really started loosing some of their character within each other. percy was no longer percy jackson annabeth was no longer annabeth chase they were instead Percabeth. which is just sad. the same thing is happeneing with solangelo and it makes me so sad will has so much potential as a character but he only serves to be nicos love interest and its so.... boring. percy jackson is not a series that needs romance

#5 The Blood of Olympus

SUPER anti-clamatic. Like I expected death and scars and tears and battle. We got, another girl fight. Throwing insults and sand at each other. Nico and Reyna saved this book. I think Jason, Piper, and Leo were not the right POV choices. I think Percy, Jason, Nico, Annabeth, and Hazel. I can go into further exclamation to why, but those would've been better. Not trauma, no nothin.

#4 The Son of Neptune

The first time I read this it was a struggle. It may have had Percy in it, but the new environment took a while to get used to. I love Hazel and Frank, in fact these three are my favorite trio, but it was hard. Once the quest began and the setting was familiar again, I loved it. The first 100 or so pages were just hard to get through. Now that I’ve read the book more times than once, it’s a lot better.

#3 The Lost Hero

This book wasn’t as bad as most people say it was. Piper was annoying in this book, but let me be honest. When Leo’s POV came up, that was the one I wanted to skip. Like yeah, he was funny, but to me, that’s the only thing I really liked about him. I’m not into mechanics or relate to him in really any way. Even with Jason not knowing who he was, it wasn’t that bad. We were discovering who he was, as he was discovering himself. Yes, that is a bit annoying but. The book was something familiar so it was easier to get through. There were many familiar faces and settings. The book wasn’t that bad.

#2 Mark of Athena

I think it’s so high on my list for many reasons. We get the percabeth reunion, the seven coming together, Annabeth’s solo quest, PERCABETH, the cliffhanger, etc. Most people tend to forget that a lot of crap happened in this book. Maybe most of it was just mini quests inside of one big quest, but that’s kinda the whole series. The book introduced us to new pairings and showed us how the seven would work together to save the world. I loved it.

#1 House of Hades

Percabeth going into Tartarus was so cool. Many people argue it would’ve been cool to see another couple/duo go through Tartarus, but I think Percabeth’s was cool enough. It was interesting to see them come across old enimies in their territory. Apart from Tartarus and the near death experiences, this book made me love Hazel and Frank even more. We got to see Hazel step up her game and become the mom of the group. We got Nico and Hazel sibling duo and Frazel as well. Leo landing on Calpso’s island was not my favorite, mainly cause I don’t ship them, but whatever. All of the seven had a POV in this book. I also really liked the last fight in both Tartarus and with the seven. This book was really good.
