who is helena. is that eddie's mom. i'm still not clear on why he moved to el paso.

well the first question is easy to answer, yes helena is eddie's mom (his dad is ramon). the rest is harder to explain 😭

basically uhm. eddie's wife dies in season 2 -> he's never coping -> season 7 eddie sees a woman who looks exactly like his dead wife (who also wanted to divorce him right before she died) -> eddie has an emotional affair w this dead wife woman -> his son walks in on them hugging while the doppelganger is role playing the dead wife (COMPLETELY UNPROMPTED BTW) -> son chris freaks out bc it looks like his DEAD MOM is in his LIVING ROOM -> chris calls his grandparents (helena and ramon) and says he wants to stay with them in texas for a while -> eddie let's him go bc he loves his son and wants him to have agency in his life -> season 8 eddie is like i can't miss more of my son's life, i have to go be with him in texas

now, crucially, since chris was born (when eddie is like 18/19) eddie's parents have been trying to take chris away from eddie. this is recurring throughout much of the show. they always say they know what's best for christopher and how eddie is spread thin or unstable, and yet that support never extends to eddie himself, only his son, their grandson. which is also why it makes it so crazy meaningful in s4 when eddie reveals he changed his will so that if he dies, buck would become christopher's legal guardian--NOT eddie's family. eddie doesn't want his family raising his son.

and like eddie's parents have never been great, but esp his mom just became rly cartoonishly evil this season, so it is very satisfying to see eddie stepping in and re-asserting himself into his son's life, which he does bc he sees that his son isn't actually happy living with them anymore.

sometimes calypso has dreams about being back on ogygia. though they're not particularly scary or nightmarish, she always wakes up feeling so unnerved and vulnerable about it ig?

one day she wakes up alone in the bed after one of those dreams and panics and she can't help but cry a little bit

piper walks back into the bedroom w a cup of tea for her gf and sees her crying and wow gotdamn she never wants to see cal upset ever again

she calls in annabeth and they just just cuddle and eat breakfast in bed together while it's raining outside :)

Heroes of Olympus: growing up headcanons

• Percy drops out of college and becomes a whale watch tour guide (fic)

• Percy teaches advanced swordsmanship classes at CHB in the off-season

• Percy and Annabeth get married (fic) and have two kids (textpost)

Percy is a stay at home dad when the kids are young

• Annabeth gets diagnosed with Autism at the same time as her daughter Hallie

• Annabeth becomes an architect

• Leo and Calypso break up when Calypso gets more comfortable with the modern world and stops needing Leo as a guide. They stay friends though, because Calypso will always be greatful for what Leo did for her

• Leo opens his machine shop and supplies CHB with cool weapons and shit. He teaches machine shop for younger Hephaestus kids

• Calypso starts dating Piper (fic)

• Piper goes into Women's Studies, ultimately becomes a movie critic

• Calypso writes a book about uses of plants in magic, things the modern world has forgotten

• She uses the name Calypso Selinódantéla, meaning Moonlace

• Frank and Hazel break up and date other people for 10+ years, then try again in their late twenties. This time, they work as a couple.

• When Frank retires from the Legion he becomes an archery instructor

• Hazel writes/draws a graphic novel that takes place in the 1940s, drawing on her own experience and exploring the life she didn't get to have

• She also works in a stable, giving riding lessons to kids

hiiiiii thank you!!! i'm slowly going through these, but be assured that i appreciate each and every one of them cx

honestly, i'm such a fan of the idea of piper knowing she's a she/they sapphic before hera rattled in their brain. it makes the experience even more terrifying methinks. this piece of your identity erased, you're back to square one, especially if she later realizes this. great potential tbh

as for my favourite ship, i genuinely really like pipalypso, and the idea of, if anyone, piper being the one to land on ogygia in hoh and having this cleansing from the idea that their life is defined by boys together with calypso. i think it would be an interesting subversion and way to explore it. i, as any other hoo fan, have my fair share of thoughts on caleo, but i did feel like "oh this guy is so scrawny so i'll hate him" is pretty weak as a premise for an enemies-to-lovers-ish thing. (also, as with any ship, i think both of pipalypso would be bad at communicating their needs and there's definitely versions where it ends badly. but it also at least gives piper a clear-cut want and thing to go after of her own agency, and would bring up more interesting aspects of both her and possibly calypso's character.)

i also quite like pipeyna :) i just think the whole jasiper/jeyna thing is such a fun narrative point. them being weird about each other to the point where they can't quite distinguish of who they're jealous, and why they're so angry, and oh, oh. i think we'll be seeing each other again soon (never interacted again) is also the funniest possible way to make them end. and they definitely would help each other murder somebody and then carry it to their graves or whatever.

side note but i don't really talk about piper much because i feel that in the books, she doesn't have that much of a characterization, and the little that she does have is butchered by the fandom to an impossible degree.

anyway, here's the headcanons!

wears a lot of oversized flannels

would not be caught dead in form-fitting clothing. billie eilishes their way through the majority of their early life (like to her twenties)

generally pretty introverted, and finds it kinda hard to make friends. chb makes them open up a bit more, but still, if it weren't for the argo ii, she'd probably be still talking only to leo and annabeth.

likes to hang out with the dryads and naiads and satyrs :) finds it easier to talk to spirits than people haha

not to say that they're socially anxious - when they need it, they are really skilled at talking to people. it's just that piper prefers their silence and it's pretty hard to get into their inner circle.

likes to read quite a lot. mostly detective novels (it's always fun trying to figure out the plot before it's revealed). swears on agatha christie novels.

wears lots of caps, ultimately causing people to sometimes mistake them for a young boy

has a pretty anti-drug attitude, but since their baseline was set by hollywood father, i think she'd just say shit like "holy crap no drugs are bad don't do drugs" and "no but weed doesn't count. any alcohol under 15% also" and be completely serious about both

has like a 2007 phone that you can only find in the depths of internet marketplaces and swears by it. it's probably one of those funky models that lights up too

i think she'd really like swimming. i'm getting vibes. but would only go when the lake is empty (something about body image and perception of others)

had her ear pierced by a classmate in one of the schools she went to before wilderness
