So I ended up becoming hyperfixated on To Kill A Mockingbird and I'm shaking and crying because that's literally the most embarrassing hyperfixation I've ever had anyway sparkle on! It's Saturday! Don't forget to remind the citizens of Maycomb about what was legalized in 1967

haven't read go set a watchman but i did hear that ppl were mad bc atticus wasn't the anti-racist icon they dreamed up in their heads after reading to kill a mockingbird. however having now read TKAM i say it is their fault that they never picked up on the fact that atticus was also a racist in that book!!! he's like the textbook white liberal who makes extremely mild attempts at being "anti-racist" who is in fact quite racist. he tells Jem to read henry w. grady who was a white supremacist. he calls himself "about as radical as cotton tom heflin" who was also a racist. he says calpurnia doesn't "indulge [scout and jem] like most colored nurses do" guyssss atticus was always a racist, but white people were so desperate to have an "anti-racist" hero to idolize that they built up a version of atticus in their heads who was a perfect ally.
