A small and adorable S/O is exactly what Ivan wants in a partner!

He's very aware of how ironic it is that you two are together, and he can't help but find it a little entertaining at least. Normally, he pretends he doesn't though. He'd never admit it unless it was in a completely concealed joke.

You always come with him everywhere. Sometimes it's because he wants to show you off, sometimes it's because he wants you to lose it and go off on people. Every time you defend him, his heart nearly bursts out of his chest (It has done that before. Physically. It was horrifying) with love and adoration.

It just means the world to him that you think he's worth standing up for. Almost no one has ever done that for him before.

So obviously, he's very protective of you in return. Especially considering how people treat you as well, he's thrown a couple of people out of places (Again, physically) for you before.

He knows that you can defend yourself, but you're just so small and delicate! Like an adorable woodland critter! And if you got hurt under his watch, he could never forgive himself.

Also, yes, Ivan would LOOOVE PDA.

Even at the most inappropriate of times. He doesn't have any social awareness at the best of times, but when he sees you, his single shred of shame goes flying out the window.

As shy as he may be, he's not shy with you. Besides, when he’s affectionate, he gets to show the rest of his friends how much his S/O loves him <3 which is always a priority.

As soon as you two arrived at the G8 afterparty, you knew it was going to turn bad. A bunch of thousand-year-old men with a million issues with each other, getting drunk at some random American bar? Well, what could go wrong? That's what Ivan asked, at least. But really you were asking yourself, what could go right?

Yao wasted no time in calling you over, and Alfred wasted no time getting shitfaced. How they let him drink that much when he looked barely 21 and had an ID with a moustache drawn on it, you'll never know.

As you watched him begin hounding the bartender to play something more “patriotic,” Francis nudged you in the side.

”Just like his father, eh?“ He commented, causing you and Ivan to chuckle lightly.

That chaos continued for hours, with the two of you eventually joining in on the drinking. The tab that the 9 of you racked up must've been the budget of all of New York, but that's what government pensions are for, right? Besides, it's not often the group could get along without tearing each other apart. Might as well enjoy yourselves.

Well, enjoy yourselves for the most part. Because the moment Alfred dared to say a single thing about holding down his drink, Ivan of course had to challenge him. Despite the pleas of everyone around them, their boyish pride was not swayed in the slightest.

Alfred didn't last long. To everyone else that was inevitable, but it seems the young man didn't appreciate being outdone.

”Well, of course, you won! All you people do is drink!“ He slurred, holding onto the table for support as he approached Ivan, who didn't seem to care about the American's taunts.

”I do plenty of things, Alfred.“

”Yeah, like make your entire family hate you?“ Ivan's smile didn't falter, but he visibly tensed.

”Funny, I believe I could say the same thing to you!“

”I don't need my family, that's why I don't hang out with those weird Europeans! But you? Ever since your sisters abandoned you, your- your life has been a trainwreck!” He exclaims, breaking into laughter.

Ivan's smile faltered, and the air in the room became cold. The other nations turned to face the two, fearing the worst already.

“Don't say these things, you know they are not true,” His eyes flicker to you for a moment.

“If that's true, name a single thing that's gone well for you in the last 10- no, fuck, 30 years!”

“Simple, my lovely partner-”

“Yeah, your partner who you spend every waking moment being gross with!” 

Ivan failed to respond to that, his cheeks turning just the slightest bit pink.

“It’s almost like you’re trying to prove that they love you. Which like-” He started laughing again, “We all know you’re just paying them to date y-”

Alfred's speech was cut off as you launched your fist directly into his face.

He pulled back, looking at you in absolute disbelief. When he held a hand to his face again, he found it wet with blood leaking from his nose.

“You-” He started to say.

“Stop being an ass to my boyfriend”

Alfred's drunken face contorted in rage, standing up and immediately towering over you.  

“How- You’re so little- Wh-”

“OK! That's enough everyone! Let's go home now!” Ludwig forced both of you to step back, frantically trying to diffuse the situation.

“Yeah- I- I have to go as well...” Francis added, looking between you and Alfred in panic.

“M-Me too…” Japan sputtered out, already packing his bags.

As you and Ivan rode the metro to return to your shared hotel room, you sat in silence. At first, you thought it was because he was upset. With you? With Alfred's comments? You'd learned it was better not to ask.

At least, that's what you thought until you noticed the smile plastered on his face. Despite that, he failed to say barely anything the entire time.

That was until you two stepped onto the station platform, when he turned to you and said softly, “Thank you, my dear.”

“For... punching your friend?”

”Of course. What else?“

Happy 20 years One Tree Hill

I can't believe it's been 20 years since OTH first aired their pilot episode. Unfortunately, I didn't grow up watching the show (I was 6 when it first aired, lol), but I first watched in 2018 as a big ass 21 year old lmao.

I remember avoiding the show because I genuinely thought it was another basic teen drama, but my God was I wrong. Sure, the show has its questionable moments, but overall, the feeling I get when watching it is comfort. There's no other show that makes me feel the comfort OTH does. Nathan Scott, in particular, is probably my favorite TV character of all the shows I've seen. Watching his journey from the typical "asshole" jock in season 1 all the way to the loving husband and father in season 9 is so beautiful. Seeing his relationship with Haley contributes heavily to the comfort I feel watching the show. Naley is my favorite TV couple. I've never seen a couple on another show like them. Through their good and bad times, they made it. 9 seasons of their love, and it got stronger as the series went on. It's truly beautiful to watch. Not to mention the chemistry between the two actors. Thanks to James and Joy, Naley will go down in history as one of, if not, the best TV couple.

I can't make this post without acknowledging the strength of all the females involved in the show. He who shall not be named will not taint OTH for me nor take away all the tears/sweat these actors put into this show. THEY made the show what it is, and I greatly appreciate all of them for how brave and strong they are.

Part 1: Harry’s Heart tattoo

This post is in three parts:

When Harry got the Heart tattoo

70 Heart Kisses (1D years), and

70 Heart Kisses continued. (Solo career)

The amazing @womanexile and @this-daydream-is-dangerous-13 started this off with finding a good chunk of these. Thank you @cntfightmydemonsthyknowhowtoswim for your amazing timeline help. This is by no means complete, which I think is impossible.

It’s also important to note that only Harry knows what this tattoo is about, why he kisses it or if that is for one person and who that may be. Below is a list of times he has kissed it with other events at that time. To me, many kisses appear to be about personal milestones.

22 June 2012 - Arm kiss - Harry kissed this part of his arm during ‘More than this’ at radio Disney (3:13). Some fans edit this footage, I think watching it in context seems quite different to some edits. 

Many edits of this and other kisses also often cut the song out completely, Harry seems to express something he’s thinking so the song matters. When Harry introduced ‘More than This’ in the Listening Party for Up All Night he said it was his favorite song on the album and ‘a deep one’. The song is about a shy guy being sad his love interest is with someone who loves her less - wondering if it is because he is shy and he gets the courage to ask her. 

Harry and Taylor had been together since 20 May 2012. 15 May Taylor wrote Run with Ed Sheeran with the lyric “there’s a heart on your sleeve, I take it when you leave and hold it for you”

10 June - Taylor wrote in her Journal: "God I've been having such a beautiful life lately. I can't believe it. It's like there's magic in the air". 

15 June - Harry got the Won’t stop till we surrender tattoo, close to here on the underside of his arm, on the anniversary of Taylor having the same song as arm lyrics. 

16 June - Ed had said that Harry ‘was taken’ (21 mins). 

18-21 June - 1D had a week off and Harry and Taylor were in LA and then unseen. Liam and Niall did several twitcams, Louis with Eleanor everyday in LA, Zayn left LA.

21 June - their first day back at work was the blank arm kiss, both were still in LA. 

23 June - the band left LA and said Harry was the best wing man with the worst luck with girls for himself. Liam called him a lonely old man and Harry looked sad. In the same interview Harry said his favorite 1D song was I Want (about a girl that wants material things) and Kings of Leon’s Use Somebody (about being lonely while touring) as his favorite of other artists. 

26 June - Harry was seen crying outside what is said to be a radio station.

1 July - (a week after Harry and Taylor were last together) Taylor was first seen with Connor Kennedy. Harry then started being pictured on random dates. 

So the arm kiss during a song about a shy guy’s love being with the wrong guy followed the band saying he had had some terrible luck with ladies then Taylor started publicly dating Connor. 

Heart Tattoo

Taylor was last seen with Connor 19 August, Harry got Never Gonna Dance Tattoo 2 days later. By 4 September 1D and Taylor were both in LA for VMA rehearsals, the public saw the first photo of them together. 

24 September - Harry tells Nick Grimshaw they are filming tour screens for 3 days. Neither love banner nor heart tattoo in the tour screens.

25 September- Harry gets the Love Banner Tattoo (covered by the left sparrow in Nov). It is assumed the Heart Tattoo also, because it’s not in the tour screens.

26 September - Niall told Nick Grimshaw they had a press day. Harry's heart tattoo can be seen on Chart Show TV, seems to be not filled or still healing. The band do a lot of interviews that day, at some point Harry gets moved so his arm is away from the camera and in some his arm is cut off the frame. The videos are used by many outlets throughout October and November. 

27 September - Entertainment on demand is first to run where the Tattoo is visible.

30 September - Harry MIA and Taylor in Paris to film Begin Again

1- 15 October - in London together, 1D and Taylor both perform Teen Choice Awards  

17 October - Harry posted pink and blue heart tattoo photo. Taylor also shared a lover journal entry for October 17, 2012, LA where she wrote this Love lyrics.

Tattoo meaning

We don’t know the meaning. To me, having kissed his bare arm in this place hints that it was planned, I think the timing may have been purposeful, as several tattoos seem to be. Perhaps he achieved the goal in “more than this” (Overcome shyness to be with his partner). Harry also seems to have meaning in when he kisses the right arm. I wonder if some of those are about a different partner or because he was not dating Taylor. Harry also kissed ‘Things I can’ after some break ups. The kisses on the anatomical heart seem to have a similar meaning to the first heart, but maybe a more mature love. He had also kissed the anchor. 

Songs 

The next 2 posts are a timeline of 70 times Harry has kissed his arm (actually 77 for a 10% margin of other tattoos/arm and coughs). Harry has kissed his heart in more than 30 songs. In this list, You and I, Sweet Creature and Two Ghosts/Falling have the most kisses. Followed by LOML, Night Changes, and Last First Kiss. The most heart kisses are actually in 2022, followed by 2014, in tie for third is 2015 and 2021. 

The marker heart

A well trodden but poorly referenced story is that on the X-factor Tour (February - April 2011) Harry once had a heart drawn in marker on his arm. 

The earliest I can find this photo posted is here in a group of photos on 7 July 2011. It is taken in a dressing room, you can see Lou Teasdale in the background, her name is on his chest and Lou has the same tattoo. Lou’s then boyfriend Tom Aitken also has this tattoo. 

Tom tattooed Harry’s “Never Gonna Dance” the month before Harry got the heart and said that Lou’s Heart was first and that ‘Harry’s is kind of diff. It’s quite a popular one’. They also drew it on their baby in marker. 

Other members of 1D have heart tattoos in a different place or design, this post is about why matching tattoos ….match. 

I’ve read “when Harry turned 18 he got it tattooed”. Harry got the Star when he turned 18, this was 8 months and 17 tattoos later. He got the tattoo at a time that was meaningful to him.

In the 2011 timeline there’s fair indication Harry and Taylor knew each other then anyway.

Taylor also had a marker heart on her foot on the Debut CD. In this interview she talked about getting it tattooed if Debut went double platinum, (now x7, but she didn’t.) However I don’t think either marker heart has special meaning other than Harry planned this tattoo.

[2:47] I remember reading the book in high school.

[2:50] I mean, I went online and looked,

[2:52] and it said Francis Ford Coppola's directing this,

[2:54] and I was like, "man, I'll never get a chance at this".

[2:57] [And] I still, I mean, we're halfway through filming

[3:00] and I still can't believe I'm a part of it.

[3:02] I auditioned in like March of '07,

[3:05] [and then] I found out on my birthday

[3:07] in September that I'd gotten it.

[3:09] I'd had to land in Chicago for a layover,

[3:11] and when I got to Chicago, my dad called me,

[3:13] sang me all of Happy Birthday,

[3:16] and then I land in L.A.

[3:17] and I get another call from

[3:21] home in Minnesota,

[3:22] and [it was]

[3:24] you know, it was news telling me that my father

[3:27] had dropped of a heart attack

[3:29] [Gasps from behind the camera]

[3:29] Garrett: after he got off the phone with me.

[3:31] So I was just like, I called him up in the hospital

[3:33] and I said, "you know, you can't do this, you know, it's my birthday."

[3:37] And he goes, "I know, son."

[3:39] And I said, I just got On the Road"

[3:42] He's like, "that's great, son."

[3:44] So it was, you know, a weird balance

[3:47] of... you know...you know, when there's a great amount of good

Current activity: I've just returned to my hotel room after having had breakfast. Hash Browns and Baked Beans ftw!! (<- How to tell someone you're British without telling them you're British 😂).

Currently thinking about: All the things that need to be done today - I'm away for work and I need to prep some stuff before leaving the hotel to go pick up some food for lunch because I won't have time to pop out later, and then I have to go to the location for today's work event and I basically won't stop until after it finishes tonight at 21:30 ish. (And somehow squeeze in Dangerous Romance somewhere there...maybe during my dinner break...or maybe I'll have to wait until afterwards when I'm back in the hotel again...but the internet is patchy at best - so if you don't hear me posting about it, it's because I won't be watching it until tomorrow evening 😭)

Current favourite song: This is so hard to pick just one! Okay, Until Then by Tilly Birds. I've known of the band since the Bad Buddy days but never really listened to their albums until Only Friends started airing and I discovered I'm Not Boring, You're Just Bored which made me go to their albums and now I'm a fan of more of their work.

Currently reading: I've said it before but I basically live in the Bad Buddy fandom on ao3. All other books are collecting dust on my bedside table, unread and unloved this whole year 😥

Currently watching: Not much actually since a lot finished airing recently. So, Dangerous Romance, Kiseki Dear to Me and You Are Mine. I've been waiting on english subs for the final episode of Love in Translation but it's been so long I might not bother anymore. And I paused I Feel You Linger in the Air before ep 9 and I'm waiting until the last ep has aired before I go back to it. I need to know if it's going to have a happy ending before I continue because it was SO beautiful but also SO heartbreaking and I was just scared all the time for the characters (someone tell me if it ends happily for all our couples!).

Currently NOT watching and Sad About It So I've Had To Block The Tags: Shadow the series, My Gangster Oppa, and I Cannot Reach You (and maybe a few others I can't remember - I might not be able to watch Red Peafowl for the same reason) - all mainly because they're on platforms I don't subscribe to.

Current favourite character: I think Chen Yi and Ai Di (the Taiwanese Pat and Pran basically) - the one who realises his feelings late and goes ALL IN and the the other who has pined FOR YEARS and can't quite believe he finally gets to HAVE HIS DREAM. They own my whole heart.

Have we ever found out Hailey's age? I've a few different answers out there and now I'm just confused.

I think I've broken this down before, but I'm too lazy to find it.

To my recollection, they've never given Hailey or anyone else on the team a specific date of birth other than Erin and Kim.

For Erin, we know they were preparing to celebrate her 30th Birthday in 2x20, which aired in late April 2015. Ergo, Erin was born in April-ish 1985.

Kim, they gave a glimpse of her medical/personnel file or something in an episode in season 4(? I think), which gave her birth year 1988 (and I also believe gave her middle name as Rebecca). But that's it. We got nothing on anyone else.

The only thing to keep in mind when trying to figure out her age on the show is that Hailey could not have become a cop before she turned 21. The minimum age requirement to enter the Police Academy is 21. You can sit the pre-required testing at 20, but you can't start anything else until you are 21.

Under the cut because this got long.

For me—always, but especially after 9x13—Hailey having a birthday later than extremely early 1991 is impossible. And even 1991 honestly is a stretch to me. I tend to go with 1990 as her DOB, I think it just fits all the info that we've been given over the years the best.

Here's my evidence

4x21: We have a firm date here, February 9, 2003. That's when Hailey's family's restaurant got robbed, and that's when she met Trudy; Trudy is why she became a cop. Great! I think this date is what gets retconned later; more on that in a bit.

Chicago Med 5x04 the Infections crossover: When Hailey is in quarantine with Amanda, she talks about the robbery and Trudy being her inspiration for being a cop. She says she was 12 years old when the restaurant was robbed. Since, up to this point, we know this occurred in Feb 2003, 1990 is likely and early 1991 is reasonable but not as probable. Again, we know this age gets retconned later; hold tight on it for a second.

Until 8x11, these things were canon and solidly put Hailey's birthday falling between February 10, 1990, and February 9, 1991 (how much would it have sucked if the robbery was on her birthday?!?). Statistically, it favours her being born in 1990.

From here, we enter retcon territory.

8x11: This episode aired in 2021 and screws up the previous canon. Here, Hailey said she's been a cop for 12 years. This makes a 1990 or later birthday impossible. Because 2021-12+2009. Meaning the latest she could have been born was late March/very early April 1989, and assumes she became a cop right when she was 21 years old. Making 1988 (or earlier) more probable.

However, 9x13 both corrected 8x11 and then screwed more things up. BUT! Because how long Hailey had been on the job is now a plot point in the episode, it's a lot safer from being retconned, and what has to inform her age because we a specific age she has to have been at the start of her career.

9x13: They celebrate Hailey's 10 years of being a cop. This episode aired in 2022. To be a cop for 10 years when this episode aired in late Feb 2022, Hailey can be born no later than late Feb 1991 and again favours 1990 (or earlier) as her year of birth.

9x13 is also where the robbery comes back into play. She told Kevin she was 10 when it happened. Given everything else we get in this episode that firms up that a DOB no later than Feb 1991 is possible one of two things happened with the robbery date:

1) She misspoke (unlikely IMO given how imprinted that event likely is on her.) You can apply the same logic to 8x11 if you want.

2) They've retconned when the robbery happened shifting it earlier (2000/2001 ish). Given that February 2003 hasn't been mentioned again since 4x21 and really wasn't the main point of that scene, this is more likely.

So, if you're looking to give Hailey's age for something that is in line with the current canon of the show, She's 33 to 34 years old. You could go for a couple years older as well fairly easily, but anything younger than 33 doesn't fit the info they've given us.

BTVS, Spuffy, GH & LL1

Seeing Red is my least favorite episode of BTVS. In the 5 seasons and S6 episodes before this one, I tolerated the Spike character.

The fact that Spike nearly rapes Buffy in her bathroom and she still doesn't kill him? That's BS to me. I'm not trying to slam Spuffy fans, but how can you root for a couple when one half of that couple tried to rape the other? I immediately started hating Spike after Seeing Red. To me, he is not redeemed in the BTVS series finale, or on Angel. I was just glad that he went on Angel and left Buffy alone. Though I didn't want him around Cordy or any other women with him capable of attacking and hurting them and him not giving af about it. It's like Luke and Laura on General Hospital. I'll never understand how they reached "supercouple" status on the show. I also don't know how you ever forgive someone for raping you, and then go on to date/marry/have children and a life with this other person who doesn't really give af about you. (Who tf forgives their rapist and goes on to live with/marry/have a family with? WTH kind of Stockholm Syndrome s#!t is that?!)

Yes, Spuffy fans may, and many will, find my opinion controversial, but I've felt this way ever since Seeing Red aired. It's been 21-ish years since the episode aired, and I still can't believe Spike was treated like a hero or good guy, after he did that to Buffy. He was an attempted rapist, and it was like that didn't even matter. The writer's in charge of BTVS dropped the ball and should be called out on that BS.

Ok, so, this is probably ridiculous, and I can't believe I have a House of the Dragon theory before it even airs (I can barely believe I have a HOTD theory at all), but...

Since the release of The Princess and the Queen in 2013, and through everything published about the Dance of the Dragons since then (TRP, TWOIAF, F&B), it's known that Daemon and Aemond Targaryen have a lot of parallels. Besides the most obvious point of their names (just move the D, lol), they're both hotheaded, vengeful, kinslayers, brutal and ruthless, excellent swordsmen, more martial and physically active than their kingly older brother who they were nevertheless devoted to... culminating in their final showdown in the Battle Over the Gods Eye, the aging older model vs the would-be "new hotness". Though a major difference is that fandom tends to treat Aemond as far more of a pretentious wannabe, a bad Xerox copy with his marysueish sapphire eye and ooh so hardcore dialogue, generally disliked while Daemon is beloved (or at least opinions are far more split), the Darkstar to his Oberyn.

So you're telling me, if Rhaenyra had by chance married Harwin Strong, and he was her only husband, and she had 5 very legitimate dark-haired sons with him... Alicent would've just sat back and let Rhaenyra take the throne instead of Aegon? Criston would have? Otto would have? All the other lords of Westeros would have preferred a woman as ruling Queen, instead of the king's son?

Well. That's news to GRRM, because in an early version of the Dance, Rhaenyra was married to a Strong, and had three legitimate kids with him... and the Dance of the Dragons still happened.

Hello all! I can't believe it's already been 2 years since I began my journey of healing, self-discovery, and self-love.

As I reflect on my personal growth and experiences over the past two years and what lies ahead, I wanted to give an update and some background for those who have started following my journey along the way.

Last week, I started a full-time position as a project manager for a utility in New York helping them implement technology that will help them automate and manage their grid of the future. My plan is that once the project is completed, I want to take some time off to backpack through South America, hopefully in late 2024/early 2025!

Despite having been privileged enough to able to live my life on my own terms and being much happier than I've ever been since I caught the travel bug studying exchange in Singapore in 12 years ago, I still have a lot of healing to go and more therapy and self-therapy to help me get there. But I have come such a long way from the emotional trauma that pushed me to start this journey in the first place, which was a blessing in disguise and am grateful to be alive and healthy on this journey!

Here's a quick recap of my travel adventures:

• I went on an amazing 4 month road trip across the US where I visited 21 national parks, 5 national forests/monuments, hit all 4 corners of the continental US, and drove just a little over 20,000 miles through 36 states (many of them for the first time!).

• I went on several domestic and international trips, mainly solo trips to visit friends and family and a few spontaneous solo adventures using my Frontier Airlines all you can fly pass, but I also went on my first group trip to Galapagos with 10xTravel Insiders (where I learned how to pay for travel using credit card points and miles by being strategic with which credit cards I use to pay for my expenses without changing my spending habits).

• I logged close to 100,000 flight miles over 48 flights, spending almost 9 days in the air, visiting 30 airports in 11 countries, and taking 15 different airlines.

• I hiked to the top of Mount Washington with a new group of friends I met and chased the New England foliage from the White Mountains in New Hampshire down to Bear Mountain in CT.

And in terms of work:

• I worked as a staff accountant part-time for a small CPA firm and worked two tax seasons helping many minority and low income individuals and families with their taxes as well as non-profits and churches with financial statements.

• I also picked up another part-time job as a principal electrical engineer with a large infrastructure and defense engineering company (Parsons Corporation) helping them grow their utility business.

The Ledge #584: Birthday Week!

When I put together each and every episode of The Ledge, I try really hard not to repeat myself too much. If I play a new single one week, the next I'll more than likely air a b-side or album track. Certain songs do end up appearing in multiple shows, but more than likely due to whatever themes I've selected.

That fact has always been in the back of my mind whenever I put on birthday shows. Obviously, during my birthday week I want a show of nothing but my favorite songs of all time, but at the same time I don't want to repeat that same show each and every year. But it dawned on me earlier today that repeating myself once a year is no big deal! Who remembers what I aired a year ago?

Plus, honestly, while I have not doublechecked, I'm sure this year's birthday celebration of my favorite songs is quite unlike previous editions. My tastes are ever-evolving. Some artists have emerged as new favorites. Others have maybe dropped down a peg or two. Plus, I'll admit to purposely selecting different tunes by perennial favorites. Let's be real. I can play almost any song by bands like The Clash or The Ramones...or almost every band in tonight's show.

As for the "52 weeks of Teenage Kicks", I've got a relative rrity from Hagfish. Originally released on 1995's Happiness EP, it also appeared on European versions of their second album, Hagfish Rocks Your Lame Ass. (And since this was my birthday show, I ended the episode with The Undertones original.

1947 Pt1 - Now I See the Light

Kye had taken up a habit of sitting beside the window after the kids went to school. The radio was playing softly and he wasn't even that put off by the sound anymore. Everything felt different with Anabelle at his side.

"Lizzie said I'd find you in here. You okay?"

"Things have never been better."

"Oh. Well it seemed pretty urgent when you called yesterday. I left my family in a hurry. We were worried."

"I guess I got overexcited. Sorry." Hezekiah chuckled nervously, rubbing his hands on his chair.

"So what did you want to talk about?"

Kye looked back out the window where Anabelle was working in the garden. "I'm gonna ask her to marry me, Knox."

"What!? That's amazing!"

"Yeah...I want to make it really magical but," He nodded to the chair, "obviously I can't do it alone."

"Just tell us what you need."

"I knew I'd find you out here. Did Knox leave already?"

He grabbed her hand pulling her closer. "Yeah, he couldn't stay long. But he invited the two of us to come for a visit. Their new place is accessible for me and we were thinking maybe a picnic, back at the old campsite."

She sat beside him, "That would be nice, it's been so long since I've seen Kailee. And the park in Autumn?"

"The leaves turning red just like when we met."

"Can you believe it's been 15 years?"

"Impossible, you can't possibly be a day over 21." She sighed and leaned into him

He pulled her closer, kissing her cheek. "You know when I was a kid, after my mom remarried, David and I built a tree swing just like this."

"Mmm tell me more."

"I never would have imagined we'd have that in common. I didn't appreciate it then, but he was a good father"

She lay her head in his lap and he stroked her hair. "You're a good father too, Kye. David would be proud of the man you've become." "You really think so?"

"There are so few men who could do what you've done. If Stefan grows to be even half the man you are-"

"He'll be better!"

He leaned over so he could see her face and her fingers went instinctively to his hair. "You know, I spent a lot of time on that tree swing as a teenager, but you know something I never did?"

"Hmm?"

"I never once madeout with a beautiful girl. I think it's time I remedy that."

A few weeks later Kye and Anabelle took the ferry to Port Promise. Kailee was keeping Anabelle distracted while Knox and Kye went ahead. "Well what do you think?"

"Knox this is amazing! Exactly how I imagined"

"Then why do you look so worried"

"I'm kinda starting to freak out"

Knox knelt down beside him. "Hey, that's just the old voices talking. Don't listen. You'll be fine. You ready?"

"No. I've been dreading this part."

Knox chuckled, "Me too, but just think of Anabelle's face when she sees you out there"

Kye nodded, "Okay, let's get it over with"

"I don't understand why we had to get so dressed up to meet up for a picnic."

"To look good for our men."

"I guess but this dress is way too expensive to get mud on."

"Never known you to be one to worry about some dirt." Knox smirked as he joined them "Come on, Kye's waiting."

They came around the corner and Anabelle gasped when she saw Kye sitting there on the water. "Kye, what is this? What's going on?"

Kye smiled nervously, "Care to join me?" Knox pulled the boat to shore and steadied her as she stepped in and settled across from him.

Kye tucked her knees between his pulling her as close as possible, "You look beautiful!" She blushed and looked out at the water, nervously.

The sun was starting to set and Kye took her hands as something on the edge of the pond caught her attention, "Oh! Kye, did you do this?"

Suddenly the air all around them filled with lights, dancing across her awestruck face.Kye kissed her knuckles gently "I'm kinda freaking out right now."

"Why?"

"I love you so much it scares the life out of me. But I'm more scared to be without you...Ana...will you marry me?"

Tears began to well in her eyes as she nodded rapidly, "Yes! Yes, of course!"

He laughed and slipped the ring onto her finger. "This ring was my Grandma Hoffman's, then my Aunt Lizette's. David gave it to me before the war. I never thought-" He choked and squeezed her hand.

She leaned forward and he whispered as he cupped her face, "Am I dreaming?"

"If we are, I hope we never wake up." Their lips met and fear melted away. Kye looked to the shore "Hmm, Knox was supposed to be back by now."

"Do you think they..."

"Oh man!"

"I...could carry you."

"I'm so humiliated." Kye complained as Anabelle slipped off her shoes and lifted Kye onto her back.

"It's fine! I'm stronger than I look."

He planted a kiss on her cheek, "At least I can reach your ear better...and your neck"

"Stop it, I'm gonna drop you"

"You're so ticklish"

"There it is!" He pointed but the sudden shift of his weight caused her to lose balance and suddenly he was falling.

"KYE!"

He landed hard on his back and she fell on top of him. He groaned as she struggled to get up, "So next time let's just keep making out in the boat okay?"

"Are you hurt?"

"I'm feeling better now. But now I have a confession."

"What?"

"When I crashed into you that day 15 years ago and I was looking down on you like you are right now...I really wanted to do this..." He pulled her into a searing kiss that left both of them dizzy

Eventually she got him into his chair and he pulled her in again unable to stop now they'd started. "What do you say we move this to that bench and relive our 20's?"

She blushed. "We did a lot more than make out."

He smirked, "Mhm but there won't be any surprises this time."

Decades, we have been living like this for decades. I can't pinpoint exactly when this all started because it's been going on long before I was born, but it has been decades. For decades we have been living without our basic resources that we need for survival, for decades we have been living without enough food, water, clothes, we barely have oxygen let alone clean air, hell we don't even have electricity anymore, we are all sharing one powerline and it doesn't even work properly. People don't even procreate anymore. Everybody has avoided having sex as much as they could because they are scared, scared they won't be able to provide  for their kids even if they could have them because of our lack of… everything. All of our resources have been stolen, and that isn't an exaggeration when I say all I mean ALL. Over the years we have had so much taken from us, almost everything, our planet only has a population of around 3.6 million living organisms  (maybe even less) and we still don't have enough resources to get around to everyone. Our planet and its people are going extinct, right in front of our eyes. This place as we know it will be gone sooner or later, whether we try to save it or not.

I swear I'm living in hell. Now, I don't actually believe in hell, I'm far from a religious person, not even close. I mean a fiery pit that you are sent to for not liking this all-loving being above all, it's really laughable if you think about it. It’s also funny to me that I can read about this place, and not believe in it not one bit, but the more and more I read about it, the more I realize that might be the place where I live. Now I did say I don't believe in hell because I don't, I don't even believe in heaven, but if hell was a real place, it would be where I live. Day by day, the more I look at this place I realize, no matter how much we think we can save it, this place is unsalvageable. So many things going on at once makes me wonder why we don't just get up and abandon this… thing, (I call it a thing because It doesn't even look real anymore) a thing that has been deteriorated by the hands of the outside world. Then I remember, we can't. We are stuck. We keep crawling out, and yet we are getting nowhere. We are stuck and it's tiring.

Today, our people got sick, again. But this time our “doctors” still don’t know what it is, it's not anything like what they've seen before (I say that in quotations because they aren’t real doctors, they are people we used to replace our real doctors because most of them would get sick and die). Still, they are guessing it was caused by the strange being on planet earth, like last time. They weren’t wrong to guess that though, often times when our people come down with a disease, or somehow catch a new one (like this time), it’s because of planet earth. What happens is the beings on planet earth don’t have anywhere to put their waste, since they can’t just dump it into space, and they don’t want to destroy their own planet, they dump all of their waste on our planet. Things like oils, plastic, gas, things that are damn near impossible to break down, end up being stuck here and polluting our air and waters. I talked to one of the caretakers or, “doctors” this morning, she told me, “The oils and gas being brought to our home are killing the air. We didn’t have enough machine ventilators to go around, we had to put two people to a machine and even then we didn't have enough clean air to fill the ventilators. Soon they will run out of clean oxygen and after that we won't know what to do, I’m not sure most of our people will survive this one.”

3: Do you leave the window open at night? *sings funnily off key about how nice a cool breeze is* On a hot day, I do. I wish I could currently do that where I live right now, but there is no screen/window mesh to keep the bugs out. Atm I open it in the late afternoon and feel at peace with the slight chill.

5: What color are your eyes?

Kid me would have said black (like the night mwahaha) but I know it's brown. Might be dark brown though, I'm been told by many that.

14: Do you love the smell of the earth after it's rained?

Indeed! Rain has got something in it that plants just perk up to. I love the smell of the glorious grass and whatever indescribable scent the air has. I've been told it's the smell of pollution coming back down to us, but I doubt that would smell as nice. Then again, I love the smell of burning gasoline.

21: Something you've kept since childhood?

A tiny brown TY beanie baby rabbit about the size of my hand. I don't know why it gives me comfort and my child self clung onto it like a life vest, but it's still with me. OH WAIT... It's in my profile picture. The only difference mine has is that it's missing its pink whiskers and its tag. Seven year old me with safety scissors was like I don't like the scratchy tag or the weird looking whiskers, let me chop them off. Core memory right there. It's the only stuff animal I've given a human name and I've never had a friend or character to name them after, so let's just say they named themselves. Fun fact: This rabbit loves to play hide and seek, get lost in blankets and stuff even if I put it in place, and I'm half convinced it is Toy Story irl.

24: If we were together on a rooftop, what would we be doing?

Never been on a rooftop, but if we were, I hope we're doing a bit of stargazing and having a picnic while chatting. I would definitely engage you in a game of 20 questions, but it'd eventually lead into random tangents if you're into talking. If not, it's just an icebreaker. If it's during the day, I hope we're not baking in the sun and that its relatively cool. We could people watch from that high up, read books, share stuff, and maybe make up stories about things like we're spies.

42: An app you frequently use besides this godforsaken site?

I would not say it's frequent at all but Instagram. It's where I keep up with people I know irl or take interest in like celebs or small influencers. I'm a bit of a lurker on there unlike Tumblr.

More dreams about missing flights and rebooking flights and being on flights I almost missed. It's nice not to be in any doubt about the locus of my anxiety, I guess. I don't know what happened to make flying internationally this Everest of nerves it now is. We almost never flew long haul when I was a child, though there was a grim plane ride back from the Caribbean for my mother's 40th birthday, and for which I acutely remember missing a week of school. I recall how wrong this felt, and how a teacher called Mr Stairs with early 2000s reactions lenses which never fully settled on either clear or darkened, gave me shit for being on holiday when I was supposed to be learning. But I WAS learning - I learned that no amount of snorkelling can quell the guilt of missed academia, and that returning to class with box braids as a 9 year old white girl was likely not the move. Back then it was not the move because it simply violated school uniform policy, and now it would be the move that gets you death threats on TikTok, or ruins your chances at running for public office down the line. And yes, the braids were tied at the ends with beads That plane ride back was a long and dark red-eye. I remember a drunk German man vomited on and soiled himself a few rows behind us, and when the cabin crew requested any doctors on board to lend a hand, both of my doctor parents vocally volunteered each other. My mother won this round, arguing that she was "merely a pediatrician" and that treating adults was above her pay grade, so my dad went to check the vitals on the bile and shit-covered passenger and I believe these were some of my parents' marriage's last gasps. I remember watching an American TV show on the tiny economy seat screen, the name of which I have tried on and off to find in the 21 years since, to no avail. There was a scene where two teenagers were caught simulating sex in a hot tub and it was so far outside of any television show I would've been allowed to watch at that age. I was aroused, even as, I assume though don't remember, the scent of the effluvia my father was dabbing from the German man behind us wafted toward and past my seat And although this flight from the Caribbean back to London appears to have everything in terms of neuroses - impending divorce, expulsion of fluids, sexual shame, German people- I suspect the real and boring reason I hate planes is because I can't smoke on them. My subconscious probably knows this, feeds me scenes of light catastrophe in my sleep to beg me to address my oral fixation some other way. But smoking is my life force and my death wish combined, a little like air travel itself. I like smoking and looking at what I've painted to see if it meets my exacting standards. This week I am adorning / permanently defacing a giant modular sofa for a show with V in the spring. I don't have a clear vision, just a series of stabs with little margin for error, given the thing will need to be reupholstered if I fuck it up. I work on other paintings in tandem to take the pressure off. I listen to Joe Rogan and Russell Brand discuss Brazilian Jiujitsu and its lessons in masculinity and it is practically science fiction to me. It has also been raining outside for so long that i begin to feel like I'm in the "before" segment of a corny antidepressant commercial, which is weird because I am on antidepressants
