VotV Speculation Megapost

(For posterity's sake, the latest major release is 0.8) (Also, buckle in. This post is a long one.) (Edit 9/20/24: Added Addendum 1) As we all know, Voices of the Void has a "story breadcrumbs" approach to its plot. Combine that with its alpha status, and we're left with a lack of hard answers. However, some pieces did seem to click into place. This is far from anything definitive, but here are some of the conclusions I've drawn. Let's start with everybody's favorite:

Part 1: The Arirals

You know em. You love em. Like 90% of the fanart is about them. But the question is... what the hell are they doing here? Judging by the fact that they construct a campsite in the facility, they clearly expect to be here for a while. A common interpretation I hear from people is that the ones out in the facility are either political refugees, or just some sort of benign "tourist group". I've personally come to a different conclusion. Let's consider what they brought with them.

Exhibit A: The weapon (left)

The weapon they drop around Day 24 is no mere Star Trek phaser. If you drop it in the main building, pretty much EVERYTHING in the building is going to be sent flying from the resulting blast. Not only that, but the "human-wieldable" version that can be unlocked for the sandbox mode has one hell of a fire rate. Something tells me that there's no way in hell this thing is a civilian-grade weapon. And, as established in a previous post of mine, they're kitted out in full-body armored stealth suits.

Exhibit B: The stealth suit (Kerf dutifully remains there for scale)

These aren't tourists or runaways. They're goddamn Black Ops. But you're probably asking, "If that's what they are, then why do they have nothing better to do than to steal shrimp and prank you?" Don't worry, I'll get to that later. Eventually. Maybe.

For now, let's move on to a third thing of theirs: The letter to Kel.

Exhibit C: Esraniki's Letter (D-, see me after english class)

This is the letter left at the Ariral camp if you have maxxed reputation with them. There's one line in particular that's always stood out to me. "GET WE HOME YOU GET DEATH AVOID" So... why can't they go home? Let's review: A: They have perfectly functional spacecraft parked right behind you. Even if they were broken, surely some random Pre-FTL primitive wouldn't be able to help with a mechanical failure in their technology. Hell, they buzz you at the radio tower with one. So there seems to be nothing physically stopping them from leaving. B: They've come kitted out with some serious weapons and armor C: Something in the facility is drawing the attention of all manner of extraterrestrials (and ghosts and demons. are 'metaterrestrials' a good word for them?) So my take? They're monitoring something, waiting for an opportunity to act upon it. (In keeping with the Patch Note naming convention, I will be calling this unknown something "The Threat") Not only that, this 'opportunity' may only open up with the assistance of a human. But what could Dr. Kel possibly do that an Ariral couldn't? Well, I can think of one thing he can do better... Interface with human technology.

Exhibit D: Ariral Communique (quality: shit) Computer technology isn't some universal constant. You can't make a program and expect it to magically run on alien technology with an unknown architecture. This ain't Independence Day. The fact that the Arirals barely managed to send a heavily-garbled message to Kel's computer, quite frankly, speaks of an extreme amount of effort on their part. And it was all just to say the word "OUTSIDE".

If The Threat has some ties to human technology, then perhaps Kel actually could be more qualified to deal with it than the Ariral Black Ops. Hmm... An unknown threat with ties to human technology. Could it possibly involve...

Part 2: The Incredibly Suspicious Bunker

"I left a 'Do not enter' note on the floor. That'll stop people from investigating!" This damn thing is quite obviously, as TVtropes would put it, The Very Definitely Final Dungeon. It is my firm belief that this is what the Arirals were sent to monitor, and where The Threat can be found. But we can't really get much further in than a few doors. So... what's in there? An easy assumption to make is that it's some sort of fallout/storm shelter. But something nearby might tell a different story...

Exhibit E: *squints* ...Liberty Prime? If you take a metal detector over to the bunker entrance, you'll quickly discover a buried drive nearby. The image you just saw is its contents. It's clear that something is being depicted here. What exactly it is, well, that's hard to say. but if you look at that teeny tiny thing at the top, you'll see something that looks like the Alpha base and its radio tower

What this says to me is that there is a colossal something underneath the base. Some sort of mega-facility? Unnatural cave formations? Something else entirely? Or I could be looking at it entirely wrong. But the point is, it's very likely that something extremely expansive is down there.

What if we could just take a peek a liiiittle bit further in? Well, there is ONE way...

Exhibit F: The Least Cursed Elevator in Horror Fiction

Roughly around 3:33 each night, there is a chance that a camera inside the bunker will become active. It's monitoring what appears to be a heavy-duty elevator coated in blood. An elevator like this would also indicate something buried deep underneath the base. Say, this elevator seems familiar...

Exhibit G: Monique Santificer's Extremely Ominous Foreshadowing

...Huh. I'm sure that only means good things. So we have a Hellivator and evidence that there's some place that you'd need a Hellivator to get to. Are there any other clues around? Well, there's that handy instruction book on robotics. You can make your own little friend!

POV: You're 5'11 and she's 6'0 And... Oh! looking back at that camera, it looks like someone else made their... their own... friend...

Exhibit H: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA- ...I don't think they followed the instructions to the letter. So it seems the people in the bunker were working on combining robots and, er, 'biomass'. I don't think our meaty friend here is The Threat itself, but I do believe that it is some aspect of it, or at least a result of it. And whatever The Threat is, it seems to be "leaking" out of the bunker. After all, this toothy bot here seems to have little siblings burrowing out from underground!

Exhibit I: should start running Kerfus. Kerfur. Whatever name they have, they love you! Such a shame that the flesh inhabiting their chassis does not.

they seriously recalled the ++ models over a little thing like this, smh Something deep underground, cursed flesh, and occult sigils. Hmm. Things would tie together neatly if there were, say, some sort of demon around associated with flesh and dark depths.

Part 3: Furfur (and conclusions)

"I WATCH YOU SHIT AT NIGHT" The Great Earl of Hell and raw flesh afficianato, it's Furfur! Demonology refers to him as a liar, but also a teacher of secrets. And he seems to really really like flesh. Not bones, though. He's always leaving those behind.

They say that if you burn an offering of flesh at his altar, he'll give you a marketable Furfur plushie!

The children who survived loved them! Interestingly, there's a certain location connected to Furfur: The bottom of the well. If you pass out at the bottom of the well, you will end up in a (dream of a?) mysterious structure.

Exhibit J: all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well

A few things of note in this place: -More demonic sigils -The only 'exit' is a tunnel leading upward with a broken ladder. And even if you could reach up there, Furfur's giant skull-face is blocking the way. -A unique knife, which when examined in the inventory, says that it was found "deep underground".

How very interesting that this flesh-loving demon has his own little place down in the depths of the earth. And you say the bunker reaching downwards has been spawning horrific robot-flesh amalgamations? Robots that are specifically of human design?

Well then. So here's what I think is going down:

-Some scientists from before did a Very Bad Thing in the bunker depths. If I had to venture a guess, it's that they bargained with Furfur for secrets of the flesh, perhaps in the pursuit of cybernetics, biocomputers, or somesuch. This resulted in the Very Bad Thing happening, thus creating The Threat. -The Threat was contained to some extent, but is starting to noticeably leak out. It is also severe enough to have drawn extraterrestrial attention. -The Arirals have sent a squad to monitor the situation and act if necessary. Seeing as there's been no urgent need to act as of yet, they are bored out of their skulls and taking it out on you. -The fact that the bunker hasn't been blown up by catgirl black ops already says to me that the situation down there is delicate, and a 'guns-blazing' approach would be inadvisable. Not only that, but The Threat seems to be tied to technology they have little knowledge of. They would most likely need outside assistance if they want a 'clean' resolution to the problem. -And wouldn't you know it? Right there in the facility is some nerdy, crusty, half-crazed twink that seems to be very proficient in handling human technology. How very convenient.

That's how I think this ties together, personally. Of course, there's always unaccounted for 'loose ends' that may or may not be tied to the Bunker Conspiracy (the rozital pit in particular has been bugging me with its vagueness). Plus there's always the chance that I misinterpreted things like a dumbass. There were a few other smaller things I wanted to cover, but my fingers hurt from typing, and my ability to hyperfixate has its limits. And sorry if the screengrabs are a bit mismatched, I've already spent hours on this post without having to get screenshots from the game myself. If anyone actually read through this monstrosity of a post, congratulations! If you're as deeply brainrotted as I am, feel free to point out the reasons I'm dumb and wrong :)

Yeah!! I think my first pieces of merch were those Skid and Pump plushies, though they were the smaller/older ones. I also got a Bob plushie, the Tender Treats poster, some stickers and one of the shirts (it's the one with Bob, Streber, Skid and Pump!! I love the design sm!!)

I also ordered some of the merch from when Hollow Sorrows released! Still waiting for it to arrive but if I remember correctly I got the Moloch plushie (ofc), two shirts and the pins and stickers!!

And of the merch I don't have I'd honestly love to get my hands on this shirt with The Eyes on it (and the keychains,, they're so cute :3) plus the cassette and/or CD

YES!!! This applies to a few characters/ships actually so I worry I can't remember everyone but I'll try my best to list em here :3

Loki/Dexter (they aren't on Tumblr) made me really appreciate Dexter Erotoph!! I absolutely adore the way they analyse and talk about him and it made me start to think about not only Dexter on a deeper level but other characters too. Not to mention they also got me into Ratcandy and Sunnycide (the way they write them makes me giggle and kick my feet :3)

Print shop update & comms opening soon!

Now that the grad show has finished, I've got the time to focus on things besides school! The show was yesterday night and I'm proud to say that my illustration work earned me an Award of Excellence, and this painting here, titled "Blue Sky Thinking", was selected by Sheridan College to be the face of their Community Impact Report and it'll be mailed to tens of thousands of homes!!

I'm so happy to have my hard work appreciated after struggling with Covid for so long 😊😆 You can check out my grad webpage here! It's a chance to see what I've been working on in between dozens of fanart paintings hahaha

In more news, my print shop has been updated! I've received asks requesting that I make certain paintings available as prints, including some Critical Role stuff and all my Limited Life art. One last thing is that I'll be opening up commissions in the next few days!! I'm planning on opening up several slots for a discounted run of Portrait commissions. Good morning

I have have barely awakened today and have no energy, nothing. I know I am in constant burnout and learning more and more about being on the spectrum means brought so much sense to my world and equal sorrow. I have tons of drafts waiting to be posted, pre written cuz I know I clock out on words pretty easily and can only communicate in specific times, something that I have never taken account of before.

Understanding now, my highs are the highest, and my lows are the lowest, and there's no in between.. I can't see a point of pretending to be okay having nothing to hope for, no work, no stability, no aspirations.

I didn't have work this month, my net is up on the 26th so there's no time, I suppose it doesn't matter in comparison to other issues.

● I love using tumblr, it's the only place I feel safe but it been years now and I still yet to gain followers. Tiktok flopped too and much more highly demanding and traitorous that I fell out off line even longer. And on twitter I do the post and dash because being there is absolute.. sigh

Just look at this. It was trending "boycottW*tsapp" I thought it was another breach of privacy, but no. New reminders to me that my life has no point because it's so willingly stupid & embarrassing and it should be kept a seceret

At least my highs are still high, I enjoyed drawing so much lately. Seeing my art gallery grow and hoping to draw with others too

The fact that I have to do something to hope for growth then work, is basically starting over again. I've always posted my ocs before and they never harnessed me any rewards, not until my one lucky post of a fanart got noticed.

I thought to start calling my art "dark art" ofc its a nod to Sev and his knowledge in em, is also a nod to the hek I gone through to keep drawing. Isn't that gothicly romantic? C:

At any rate, I have few more fanarts left to do, and I shall be focusing on that for now

The physical touch part 🤭 in my head he wished he was Peter B. in that moment!!! I genuinely can't wait for them to have full on physical touch without it being accidental or like necessary, like when reader was looking after him and having to touch him to take care of his wounds, you know? But to comfort each other, I can't wait! It's coming soon! And I'm the same way!! house of wolves - i think this was the first non-single that i got really into in late high school and then refused to check out any of the other tracks (besides the singles) bc i was Scared and intimidated. it's okay 16-year-old me, you'll get there. another ripper straight from the duelling guitar slides in the opening seconds. the guitar drops in after "you better run like the devil 'cause they're never gonna leave you alone" and my heart falls out of my ass every single time. casual blasphemy IS always sexy

the sharpest lives - thank you bert mccracken for inspiring one of the best songs on a record with no skips (except for blood). fuck you bert mccracken for inspiring one of their best songs that they cannot ever play because it's going to activate a kill switch in frank's mind and he will subsequently break every bone in his body. i know they've played it since prorev i just find the whole thing hysterical. while i do find the instrumentals in this one a little bit repetitive but the production for the first few lines alternating on headphones really makes it something special. some of my favourite lyrics especially in the second verse, wonderfully crunchy bassline right before the breakdown mikey way i owe you my LIFE

hang 'em high - YEE THE FUCK HAW. a 100m sprint in song form. we NEED to make more fanart for this one maybe this is just because i've been writing a western for the past almost two years but we NEED to embrace hang 'em high's yeehaw punk. it is ESSENTIAL. manages to be its own self-contained story while also working within the context of the demo lovers; some of the songs on revenge work better as parts of a whole, but i think that hang 'em high's versatility isn't given its due because it stands alone in its' western influences (which is laughably fitting). some very fun vocals and weird pronounciations from mx gargling into the mic

Baby Mine - Songfic

Synopsis: An incident in alchemy turns Grim into a kitten, and seemingly washes him of his memories. The result has Yuu taking care of the baby monster.

Third Person POV, Yuu is Genderneutral, some slight OOC, has inspiration from @pookacangetit 's Disney Song Yuu AU

"...Now class, if you turn to page 114 of your textbooks, you should be able to find the ingredients list for the Pinnacle Potion."

The sounds of paper being flitted through fills the laboratory, many students muttering to themselves. Yuu's group, consisting of Ace, Deuce, and Grim, gather around a cauldron. Crewel slaps his whip to the blackboard, drawing attention to him.

"The Pinnacle Potion, though grand as it may sound, merely improves the body's performance. It gives you strength and amplifies your magical performance, but I must reiterate that you are banned from taking these during any events, so no using them you unruly mutts!"

"Not like we can take them anyway," Yuu chuckles, reading through the list of ingredients. "Ain't that right, Grim?"

"Myeah, even though the Great Grim will wipe the floor with em, you're still my other half! And no offense, I can't let my henchman get hurt." Grim huffs. "Still, maybe if you take a Pinnacle Potion, you can get some magic in ya."

"That's not how it how, ya dummy." Ace replies, crossing his arms. "Yuu doesn't have any innate magic in them, so the potion wouldn't work."

"Oh, that's stupid." Grim grumbles.

"Hey! Pups in the back, pay attention!"

The group snap their heads toward Crewel, who looks at them with a pointed expression.

"Anyways, listen to my instructions clearly..."

Yuu tunes out the background noise, focusing only on Crewel's voice as you prepped your ingredients. So far, things were looking great.

"Did he say to add this recipe?" "Dunno Deuce, but better throw it in just in case."

Ah, it was too good to be true.

The cauldron's contents bubbled to a roar, and Yuu barely had enough time to shield themself before the concoction exploded, sending them and their group mates back and crashing into other students. Unfortunately, the explosion also knocked Yuu out as a result.

When they came to, Deuce and Ace were being scolded by an irate Crewel who seemed to be holding a bundle of cloth. "I cannot believe this! This is the third time you two mutts caused in this class!" He says, eyebrows furrowed in anger. "And you've also managed to knock the Ramshackle prefect unconscious, and just look at the state of Grim-"

"Wait, what happened to Grim?" Yuu muttered under their breath.

Crewel notices Yuu from the corner of his eye, turning his attention to Ace and Deuce to send them to detention before walking over to them, a concerned expression on his face. "Ah, Prefect. Are you well? Do you feel sick?"

"I'm fine, thanks for asking Professor," Yuu replied, though their eyes remained glued to the bundle in Crewel's grasp. "But what's with that thing you're holding? Does it have something to do with Grim?"

"Unfortunately, yes. It's best you take a look for yourself..."

Delicately, Crewel transfers the bundle to Yuu, instructing them on the proper way to handle it. Yuu's eyes widened when they finally see what the cloth concealed.

A tiny gray kitten with flames in its ears, eyes shut in a sleep.

"I'm afraid your other half has turned into a baby."

Seeing Yuu's stunned silence, Crewel speaks more. "I'm not entirely certain why the reaction was caused, but whatever those two rascals threw in must have changed the chemical properties of the Pinnacle potion to such a great effect that it reversed Grim's age."

"Has he been asleep this whole time?" Yuu asks, staring at Grim with a neutral expression.

"Yes, he hasn't woken up-"

A tiny yawn cuts off Crewel's sentence. The kitten stirs within the bundle of cloth before revealing his blue eyes. He sees Yuu, silent for a moment, before letting out a high-pitched keen.

Yuu chuckles. "Well hello Grim," They say, brushing a finger on Grim's face. "Welcome to the waking world."

Yet Another TWST Crossover: Indie Game Edition

So we all know that Yuu is from another world...

But what if instead of Yuu, it's the protagonists of Indie Games?

Frisk!Yuu who manages to befriend Grim in the first week of attending NRC! They're from a pacifist timeline, so whenever an overblot happens they try talking them down. They also equip the various gear items in Undertale whenever the situation calls for it.

Aya Drevis!Yuu who comes off as a sweet person, but then pulls out a fucking chainsaw that scares the hell out of Crowley. They're often seen with a rabbit or two following them. They ace alchemy.

Cult of the Lamb!Yuu, who turned into a lamb beastman. Savannaclaw doesn't let them visit the dorm. Azul has tried to make a deal with COTL!Yuu to get their crown, but a smile from them often shuts this idea down.

West of Loathing!Yuu who is a beanslinger. Bean golems and bean magic. Detests Lilia's cooking with a passion. WoL!Yuu who is a snake oil salesman. Riddle, who is the son of a doctor, nearly dies of a heart attack when he figures out what their profession is.

Stardew Valley!Yuu who just wants to farm. Never went hungry again when they got their hands on farming tools and seeds. Makes their own money from selling their harvest.

Buddy Armstrong!Yuu who nearly kills Grim and Crowley the first time they meet them. Bars Ramshackle from everyone aside from the first years and staff.

My #1 post of 2022

So we all know those fics where Yuu gets turned into a kid or a baby, but I've yet to find a fic where they turn into an old person. Just imagining Yuu, wrinkled and grey-haired with their newly transformed Magic Cane, with the sweetest smile on their face while the smoke clears. Ace, Deuce, and Grim as understandably freaking the hell out, meanwhile Yuu is just "Ohhhhh hello grandsons! :)" And then the boys realize the potion messed up Yuu's memories as well

Despite Elder Yuu seemingly mellowing out, they still get into all kinds of trouble. They once again stepped on Leona's tail, but since they have "years" of experience, Yuu just bops him in the head with their cane going "Bad kitty! Down!" Jack has been labeled as Yuu's favorite grandson because "He's such a good boy :)" and Jack can't help but soak up the grandparently affection Yuu is giving him.

And if we want to get a little angsty, perhaps Malleus sees Yuu in this state, and remembers that humans don't even last the fraction of a fae's lifespan. He sees their grayed hair, the wrinkles that frame their face, how their frame trembles with every step. "Oh Malleus," Their voice aged quite well, soothing in quality. "You look just like someone I knew once. You have the same horns he does, and the same hair. I wonder how Tsunotarou is doing these days?" Malleus says nothing, gently squeezing Yuu's hand.

"I'm... sure he's doing quite well, Yuu. Now, you were telling me about about your grandsons?" Yuu beams, a crooked smile on their face. As they talk, Malleus thinks to himself.

He'd already loved and appreciated his child of man, but the reality is this. They'll come and go, just as the seasons change. Youth and vigor gone, replaced with wisdom and serenity. Eventually, those souful eyes will close, and Malleus will be lonely once more.

Till then, when Yuu's wrinkles disappear and the spring in their step returns, Malleus will cherish the little time he has with Yuu.

Aka, I finally realized that i didn't make an intro yet, so I'll make one now. (Below the cut because I dunno how long this will get)

A little about me:

Hello! My name is Sam. However, I also commonly go by Wolf or Purple online. I am 19 years old, and I am a hobby artist. I don't really do art with the thought in mind to get big and popular with it. I would rather just make art for myself and then post it online for anyone who is willing to look at it.

I am mostly active on Toyhou.se or Discord. However, if you don't have either of those, then I am most likely to be reached on Tumblr. Here are my other socials, though, for anyone interested.

Username origin:

I came up with my username at around 2020.

Purple = one of my fave colors (i have 3 fave colors, purple, brown, and black. However, purple was the one that sounded the best when trying to pronounce my whole username)

FNaF = fave game at the time (still fave franchise, though I prefer Hollow Knight as of right now)

Pasta = my favorite dish at the time (by now, it's ramen)

Nickname Origins:

Sam = is my name, not a nickname lmao

Purple = because people commonly use that for a short version of my user (who tf would wanna say/write my whole username, anytime I am mentioned in a convo, lmao)

Wolf = I can't actually remember where that nickname comes from. I just know that at some point, I always got called Wolf (mostly on Discord), so I just ran with it, i suppose. My best guess is that it happened because my fursona is a wolf.

What kind of art I'll post:

I am by heart an OC artist, meaning I draw and post mostly my own OCs, or art I made of someone else's OC(s). I rarely ever draw fanart, but who knows, maybe ya'll will catch me do some fanart (on rare occasions).

I usually draw animals (anthro and feral). However, recently, i have been attempting to draw more human/oids to better my art skilly for those as well.

I may also draw my spin on what the Warrior Cats look like. Because why not, I love the book series. (meaning i won't stick to drawing realistic cats, since i just design em what i vibe with, but i'd explain that in detail in my first warrior cats design that i'd post)

I may attempt drawing some more complex/detailed chars (like robots or smth). However, i also aren't too great with that, so please bear with me and my (slow) learning progress. (Yes, I am a slow learner)

Asking me to message someone who had blocked you for you. (I am sure the person who had blocked you had their reason, and I do not feel comfortable acting as an extension for you to message someone who blocked you.)

Venting/ ranting about something. Just do not, please. The only exception is, if I know you already.

Okay I've been way too obsessed with @campwillowpeakk lately and I'm so excited to see where it goes~! Gotta say the characters are too cute not to draw so I hope I did em justice with these doodles! Nearly impossible to pick a fav out of them all so I ended up doing all of them lmao
