Well, seems like I've defeated my artblock by watching beloved movies from my teenagehood... POTC! Bringing back all the old memories I'm fond of, of one of my several AUs... Where a lil kid Jack, abandoned on a wrecked ship, is found and raised by Barbossa and crew... and Barbossa gifts the brat a nanny we're seeing right here 😂 Ragetti my beloved!
Back then he still had two eyes... And before you ask/wonder if it's too OOC for someone like Jack Sparrow to freeze/freak out at the sight of an injury... This is a literal child here. He's around seven at most. This is the first injury he's seeing, up close, furthermore - an injury, an eye loss, a gaping, bleeding socket, on someone who's been basically raising him 24/7 for the last 3 or so years. He's no longer being goofy, no longer smiling in a friendly manner, no longer being the bedtime story telling guy who fools around with Jack, fishes with Jack, shares a hammock with Jack... That and there's clearly a battle, first battle he's seeing, going on around him. Up until now, his life's been... eh, pretty "Hakuna Matata".
Yeah, kid would freak the hell out (in this case freeze), no matter how tough of an adult he grew up to be 🤷‍♀️

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales; Why It Shouldn’t Exist
Tumblr media
Or how I invested time and energy into an analysis of a relatively dead franchise instead of doing it for my actual media analysis university course.
An essay by: a bitter and obsessed PotC fan since they were 7, with a lot of free time.
Lads, this is going to be long. You have been warned.
The Beginning
At the very beginning of the movie, we see a young Henry Turner looking for his dad.
Tumblr media
Now, we're not talking about characterization problems or how likely it is that a ten-year-old child would risk his life to look for a man he technically only saw once; we're talking about plot problems, actual logical fallacies. My questions are:
How? The Flying Dutchman is a legendary ship, impossible to be found unless She wants to be found. The only reason we see Her in Dead Man's Chest is because Davy Jones himself is looking for Jack to collect his debt, and in that occasion the Dutchman's captain wasn't even doing what he was supposed to do, so he was most definitely in the living world. Will otherwise, he's doing the job Calypso gave him, so he's constantly in between. Is the movie trying to convince me that a kid was able to do something no one in the history of piracy was ever able to do? And even if he did, why hasn't anyone explained me how? He simply looks at a map and throws himself on the bottom of the ocean. How did he know The Dutchman was there? How did he know it would've come to surface?
Where is his mom? We got to know Elizabeth in the first three movies; we know she's a smart woman and we can assume she's an attentive mother. She didn't notice her son preparing himself for a trip in the middle of the ocean to go look for his dad? Was she distracted? Was she outsmarted by a 10ish-year-old? Or is she just not contemplated in this scenario?
Tumblr media
Why does Will look like that? Will is doing his job, so... why does he look like he's slowly corrupting? That kind of corruption is the punishment Calypso reserves to The Dutchman's crew when the captain fails her, which isn't the case. Did they forget about it? Was the idea of putting algae on Orlando Bloom's face just impossible to resist to?
Tumblr media
Alright, this isn't actually from this movie but it's bothering me, so I have to write it; also, it would make this whole movie unnecessary, so it's somehow related to it. Why (and I can't stress this enough) can't Elizabeth be on the Dutchman? Why can't they do the job together? Is it because she's not a pirate? I'm pretty sure se actually is. Is it because she's a woman? Last time I checked she was the KING. She wants to stay with Will forever, Will wants to stay with her forever, they can literally live forever on the same ship. Why aren't they?
Whatever the Hell Happened to Jack Sparrow
Imagine creating a character that is so iconic whenever you ask a person who was a kid in the early 2000 to imagine a pirate, they imagine said character.
Tumblr media
Now imagine fourteen years pass and you decide to ruin that character by making him the most hideous, annoying, idiotic person in the whole saga, and we're talking about a saga that has Philip the Missionary in it. Why? Jack Sparrow is THE anti-hero. Never on the right side, but never on the wrong one. You can tell he's doing something morally questionable, but you still find yourself rooting for him. He's stupid enough to make you laugh, but he's secretly clever enough to always get away with it. Now he's just... drunk. And that's not even an excuse for this horrendous new characterization, because he was always drunk. The guy FORGOT HE WAS ROBBING A BANK, the same guy just one movie earlier was able to escape from the King of England's palace and steal a lady's earring (by pretending to be a literal slut) in the process. He just switched from the iconic drunk bi bestie everyone loves to my cringe uncle that drinks too much at Christmas parties and makes everyone uncomfortable. Please, if the risk is ruining an entire generation's beloved character, either don't make the movie or find a better explanation than "Bad luck dogs you day and night".
Tumblr media
The Pearl in The Bottle
So... what you're telling me is that Jack Sparrow, the guy who was able to defeat Hector Barbossa, Davy Jones and Blackbeard thanks to his slyness, and who loves his Black Pearl more than anything else in the world, had said ship in a bottle in his pockets for FIVE YEARS... and he never thought about breaking the bottle to free Her. That's what you're telling me. This is the pivotal point upon which the entire Jack's plot hinges. I... I don't even know what to say. Was this supposed to be funny?
Tumblr media
What an Incredibly Lucky Coincidence
A guy needs a treasure to save his father. To find it, he needs the help of a notorious and legendary pirate. He looks for him everywhere, sailing on dozens of ships just so he has the remote chance to stumble across the pirate. The last ship he's been on has sinked, he's the only survivor. He's been found in the middle of the ocean and someone brought him to the nearest city. Which city? I mean, the one that has both the pirate he was looking for and a lady who's the only person in the whole planet who's able to find the treasure he was looking for! And, oh my... he finds the both of them! In that same city! Without even LOOKING FOR THEM! A hell of a coincidence, if you ask me. Also known as lazy writing.
Tumblr media
What's Wrong With the Guards?
Now, I know Pirates of the Caribbean isn't exactly known for its accurate historical reconstructions, but why are the guards in this movie acting like they're some sort of hellhounds ready to kill anyone in sight? Even pirates and traitors as Jack and Henry were supposed to stand trial before being sentenced to death. It would've probably been an unjust and barbaric trial, but there should've been one. We literally saw it, in the previous movie. Why's Jack been sentenced to death for simply existing here? He gave pirate vibes and they decided that was enough?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Paul McCartney
This is not an actual point of the analysis, I just wanted to remind people that Paul McCartney is in this movie and that's the only valid reason to watch it.
Tumblr media
Salazar
I am confused. Once again, I have questions.
El Matador Del Mar was so good at his job he had almost defeated piracy. "The last ones joined together to try and defeat me". The last what? Pirates? There were no pirates left? This happened when Jack was young, so a lot of time before the first movie, right? Where were, I don't know... Blackbeard? Davy Jones? Barbossa? All the other Pirate Lords? I might be wrong, but I guess Salazar didn't kill them, did he? Why weren't they there during that "last battle" in which "the last ones joined together"?
Tumblr media
The Devil's Triangle. I just don't understand what's the logic behind it. So, this is a cursed place. Whoever enters there, can't get out. One would think it means that if you get there, you die; and Salazar does die, but he somehow also becomes a ghost whose only purpose is to find Jack Sparrow and have his revenge. So, do people become ghosts when they get in The Devil's Triangle? We have to assume people have gotten stuck in there before; otherwise, there wouldn't be legends around the place. So why isn't it like full of spirits ready to haunt people? Why are Salazar and his crew the only ones?
Poseidon or Calypso?
What's the Trident of Poseidon? Does Poseidon exist? Isn't Calypso the Goddess of the sea? Breaking the Trident, you break all the curses of the sea, so the Trident must be more powerful than Calypso, which leads to a question. Where is she? She IS the sea, right? So she must have known someone was about to find the Trident and brake all curses, including her one. She just decided it was okay? It really feels like someone decided to suddenly change the world's mythology without giving explanations.
Tumblr media
The Compass
This is possibly the most blatant plot hole in the whole saga. Probably the most blatant plot hole I've ever witnessed, and man, I watched all the Harry Potter movies. In Dead Man's Chest, Jack meets Tia Dalma in her "shop" and he tells her he's looking for the Davy Jones' key. She asks him "The compass you bartered from me, it cannot lead you to this?", making another pivotal point of Dead Men Tell No Tales factually senseless.
Tumblr media
That man couldn't have given his compass to Jack, because that wasn't his compass.
Tumblr media
So either Salazar is lying while telling his tale or they forgot about that line in the second movie. Anyway, let's pretend that line doesn't exist; even if that captain gave Jack his compass in that exact moment, why would it be the key to free Salazar, exactly? How is the compass in any way related to The Devil's Triangle or to Salazar? In the movie, they try to explain it with a sentence: “if you betray it, your greatest fear comes true”. So, is Salazar Jack's greatest fear? I really doesn't seem right, Jack almost didn't remember Salazar when Henry mentioned him. To Jack, he's only a guy he outsmarted decades earlier. Also, Jack technically already gave the compass away, twice: to Elizabeth in Dead Man's Chest, to make her find the chest, and to Beckett in At World's End, when they're negotiating.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's... That's Just Body Shaming, Mate
Tumblr media
Let's talk about her. So, the woman's ugly. It can happen that a woman is ugly. Was it necessary to build an entire scene around some blatant body shaming? This scene wants to mimic the similar scene in Dead Man's Chest: Jack's on an island, running from the main villain, and he's forced to do things he doesn't want to do until someone saves him, then it was Will, now it's Hector.
Tumblr media
Except in Dead Man's Chest it was LITERAL CANNIBALISM he was facing, and yet he looked LESS TERRIFIED and DISGUSTED. What's exactly the message here? Lads, is marrying an ugly woman worse than cannibalism? I don't know... that was just bad.
Justice for Hector Barbossa
If you know me (you probably don't, but if you do) then you know about my obsession with Hector Barbossa. I truly believe he's the best written character in the saga, and he's in my top five of the characters I love the most in all media. I watched The Curse of the Black Pearl when I was seven and I am autistic, so I had all the time to develop a literal relationship with these characters in my head. As much as Geoffrey Rush's interpretation was impeccable, as always, it really hurt to watch Hector in this movie. He just doesn't sound like him. First of all, why isn't he on the Queen Anne's Revenge? Why's he letting someone else sail around on his ships? He would've never. Why's he just sitting on a throne and shooting musicians instead of, I don't know... being a pirate? Being a pirate is the only thing that matters to him. He says it at the end of On Stranger Tides, and he even says it in this movie, to the witch. "I'm a pirate. Always will be".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, why isn't he pirating? What happened to him? And what about the pact with the witch? He made her curse all his enemies; that's honestly the most out-of-character thing he could've done.
Tumblr media
Seriously, watch this movie, and then The Curse of the Black Pearl and tell me he sounds like he's the same character. Then there’s his death... was it necessary? And I don't mean if it was necessary to the plot (it wasn't), but the way he died, did it make sense? He takes the sword and sacrifices himself to kill Salazar, but WHY? Salazar was back a mortal. They could've brought him to surface and then shoot him. What was the point of his death, Disney? I will never forgive you.
Tumblr media
I would've preferred if they never showed him again. He's alive and living his best life in Tortuga, if you ask me.
How does Carina Smyth exist?
Let's do the math. Carina Smyth has approximately the same age as Henry Turner, who was born around nine moths after the end of At World's End. At the end of that movie, Barbossa once again stole the Black Pearl (he's iconic we stan a legend), so we have to assume it is during that time (between the At World's End and On Stranger Tides) that he conceives Carina. He stays with this woman during the whole pregnancy, bacause he says he was there when she died. So nine months, at least, right? Except; Jack makes it clear that he and Barbossa met Carina's mom, Margaret, together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When, exactly, did this happen? It can't be between On Stranger Tides and Dead Men Tell No Tales, because Hector himself says only five years passed between the two, and Carina doesn't look like a five-year-old;
Tumblr media
it can't be between At World's End and On Stranger Tides, because we know Jack and Barbossa weren't together, and Hector was too busy losing a leg and planning his revenge by working for the King of England; it can't be during At World's End, because Barbossa was too busy rescuing Jack and then slaying (literally and metaphorically) Beckett's men to save piracy; it can't be during Dead Man's Chest, because he was dead; it can't be during The Curse of the Black Pearl, nor during the ten years before it, because he was... he was a skeleton, I hardly believe he could reproduce, despite what’s written in some fanficions; it can't be before, of course, because Carina would be too old. The only chance, but it's a stretch, is that Hector and Jack met this Margaret Smyth years and years before, and that at a certain point (while he was still busy slaying, losing a leg or planning his revenge), for some reason he decided to come back to her and accidentally had a daughter. That would mean that Jack remembered Margaret Smyth's name DECADES after he met her.
The Post-Credit Scene: What?
WHY'S DAVY JONES BACK? The Trident technically broke all the curses of the sea. He is THE cursed man of the sea. AND HE'S DEAD. The only answer I was able to give me, is that the moment the Trident broke the curses, the curse that said if you stab his heart he dies was also broken, so he technically didn't die, but it makes even less sense, because if the curses just aren't real anymore, then a man shouldn't be able to... carve out his heart and put it in a chest, right? (Which by the way, makes Will Turner being alive senseless as well). Even if so, Davy should've come back as a human.
Tumblr media
My conclusion is that this movie should not exist, and we, as a community, should pretend it was never made. Hector is alive. Bye.

Can you do headcanon of being Davy Jones and Calypso's daughter please?
Tumblr media
It was a miracle in itself that Calypso had agreed to sire a child for Davy Jones
The creature was ELATED to find out that he was having a child, and as most men from the 17th century, he had desperately wished for it to be a son
Of course, that was until he saw you and realized that you were... the runt of his dreams
Not that he would openly ever say he didn't want a daughter, but it was clear from the start that it wasn't something he was very keen on.
However, as Captain of the Flying Dutchman, he left quite shortly after your birth to return to the sea.
You never saw him for most of your childhood
But you saw your mother, much to the point where she became an overbearing presence in your life.
You tried to go out on your own will, finding the sea calling out your name
Calypso was quick to correct you and brought you back to face the land
through her you learned valuable spells and tricks, growing your talents in the arts that she was fluent in
But you had inherited your father's frustration and urge to plunder and explore
and it was growing more and more every day
the longer you stayed on the land
the longer your anger grew
there was no peace within your mind
and Calypso knew very well
she also knew that when Davy Jones would return, she would have to stash you away somewhere far in fear that you would leave her too
So, when Davy Jones returned after another decade, he was baffled to see no sign of anyone. He was lost, he was confused, he was broken.
He blamed it on you.
And he swore to get his revenge on both daughter and mother.
Unbeknownst to Calypso, however, you had slipped into a ship in order to find more truth about your supposed father and you continued to live among the pirates away from both parents until you became a full-fledged adult.
That's where all the problems began.
You missed your mother, deeply, but you knew that going back would torment your soul.
And the longer you stayed out in the seas, the greater risk you put on yourself to be caught by Davy Jones.
So, unfortunately, there was only one person you could turn to for help and it was possible the worst decision you could've made.
Jack Sparrow.
He saw you more as a little sister (thankfully) and vowed to protect you on land and on sea
Because truth be told, he feared Davy Jones a little bit too
He never told you the reason why, though
And you never asked him for it, because on your mind you were fixed with other things
Your father wanting your head and your mother wanting you back
It was back between the turmoil you felt as a child - is it the sea or the land that called you?
Where did your responsibility lie? Proving to be a good daughter to your mother, or proving to your father that you were not as cursed as he thought you to be?
But, everything has a plan by the Universe. And your planner clearly did not like to keep you waiting
Because you eventually did reunite with your mother through Jack Sparrow, and Davy Jones followed after with a solemn gaze.
You possessed both their qualities, both their traits and powers.
And if they hated you, so be it.
You weren't going to be dictated by them when they were absent for most of your life.
You were your own person.
You clicked your heels as you stared at the two, before staring back at the rest of the crew behind you.
You stepped forward, a menacing glare on your face.
And the rest was history...
A/N: I hope you like it!!! It was a bit rushed, I'm a little sorry, because of some work I was doing but I'm so glad I got to answer this request! Thank you so much!!!

Pearl of the Sea Chapter Three
Found Family! PoTC Cast x Teen! Reader
Platonic! Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, Jack Sparrow, Tia Dalma x Reader
Chapter Three: Commandeering the Interceptor
Summary: Jack, Will, and (Y/N) escape Port Royal to go after Elizabeth.
Mouse Note: I'm back! I'm so so happy to be back to posting!
(Y/N), Will, and Jack ran under the bridge near the harbor. They had escaped the fort and the town, but until they had escaped Port Royal entirely and were on the open seas, they weren’t in the clear.
“We’re going to steal a ship?” said Will. His eyes widened as he saw which one Jack was looking at. “That ship?” It was a massive ship, the Dauntless, one of the finest under Norrington’s command.
“Commandeer,” said Jack. “We’re going to ‘commandeer’ that ship. Nautical term.”
            (Y/N) snorted.
“One question about your business, boy, laddie, or there’s no going.” Jack looked at them. “This girl. How far are you willing to go to save her?”
“I’ll kill for my sister,” said (Y/N).
“I’d die for her!” said Will.
“Oh, good, no worries then,” said Jack. The pair certainly had commitment.
He led them to several rowboats and snuck under one. Carefully, they carried it into the water, and (Y/N) and Will followed since they recognized it would disguise them from sight as they approached the ship.
The physics of the water and the rowboat at the bottom of the bay provided them with air while they walked closer. The moment (Y/N) touched the water, they found themself smiling. They couldn’t help it.
“This is either madness or brilliance,” said Will as they walked across the sandy harbor floor.
“It’s remarkable how often those traits coincide,” said Jack.
“As long as we make it, I don’t care which it is,” said (Y/N).
Fortunately, that moment turned out to be more brilliance than madness, and once near the boat, they pushed upwards and swam. Jack led the way, grabbing a rope and climbing up the side of the boat. Will tread water and made sure (Y/N) grabbed on next and climbed. Their arms burned pleasantly as they finally exerted all the energy they had, and they felt strong and capable as they went.
The three arrived at the helm, and Will drew a cutlass. Jack had his pistol in hand, and (Y/N) had a sword Will had grabbed for them before they headed to the harbor.
“Everyone, stay calm!” said Jack, announcing their presence to the soldiers aboard. “We are taking over the ship.”
            “Aye! Avast!” said Will.
The soldiers stared in surprise before bursting out laughing at Will’s pirate-talk. (Y/N) rolled their eyes.
“This ship cannot be crewed by two men and a child,” jeered the officer aboard, Gillette. “You’ll never make it out of the bay.”
            “Uhuh, right,” said (Y/N).
“Son,” said Jack, grinning and pointing his pistol between Gillette’s eyes. “I’m Captain Jack Sparrow. Savvy?”
Gillette swallowed and stepped back. (Y/N) tilted their head and smiled “innocently.”
“I’d suggest you get into your lifeboats,” they chirped.
Will looked at (Y/N), slightly concerned. That was a new tone of voice—slightly threatening, very self-assured. He knew that they were always playing a role around Swann and “civilized” society, but the seamless switch as if this was always inside them was disconcerting (if Will was honest, though, he also found it impressive).
Jack gestured to the boats with his pistol. “Now, if you please.”
The sailors scrambled to obey, and soon, it was just Jack, Will, and (Y/N). Unfortunately, it was true that they could not leave the harbor with just three people.
As they tried to unfurl sails, Gillette drifted with his sailors towards shore and shouted to Norrington, making his own preparations. “They’re taking the Dauntless! Commodore! They’re taking the ship!”
Norrington grabbed his spyglass and looked towards the rowboat to see Gillette shouting wildly.
“Sparrow, Turner, and the Governor’s ward! They’re taking the Dauntless!” cried Gillette.
Norrington trained his spyglass on the three figures on the Dauntless. “Rash, Turner. Too rash.” He was also quite surprised at the gall of (Y/N), a teenager, joining a pirate and apprentice blacksmith to steal a ship and escape to sea. “How terrible, a childhood rebellion. Disgraceful.” He tsked. “That is without a doubt the worst pirate I have ever seen.”
Aboard the Dauntless, the trio were preparing for Norrington to arrive.
            “Here they come,” warned Will.
            Jack grinned.
(Y/N) noted it and cocked their head. “You were hoping for that, weren’t you?”
Jack looked at them. “One of you is bright! Well, that’s good!”
Will scoffed. “What’s your plan, then, Jack?”
“Let them come aboard!” said Jack.
He ran to the stern to hide as the Interceptor approached. Will and (Y/N) followed, and they watched as the Interceptor threw grapples over to the Dauntless and swung over to search for them. All the sailors climbed over, and Norrington looked over the deck angrily.
“Come alone!” said Jack, grabbing a rope. He swung over to the Interceptor, now empty.
(Y/N) grinned, grabbed a rope, and swung. Will was right behind them.
“Laddie, cut us free!” said Jack, swaggering across the deck.
(Y/N) swung their sword across all the of the ropes tying the ships together, and the sails caught the wind. The Interceptor moved forward, leaving the Dauntless alone. Norrington whirled as he spotted it sailing away.
“Sailors, back to the Interceptor, now!” ordered Norrington.
Several men grabbed ropes and tried to swing across, but the Interceptor, one of the fastest ships at sea, was already ahead of the Dauntless, and the men were sent flying into the ocean.
Jack grinned and waved his hat to Norrington. “Thank you, Commodore, for getting us ready to make way! We’d have had a hard time by ourselves!”
The Dauntless couldn’t be prepared by three people, but the Interceptor had been prepared by a large crew. It would just be steered by three people, quite doable for a bit.
(Y/N) let out a laugh at Norrington’s frustrated expression and how well the plan had turned out. Not to mention…they were out on the sea, the one place they’d been forbidden from going to. (Y/N) had the wind at their back and the salty sea air to breath.
            (Y/N) let out another laugh.
Jack and Will looked at them, but they just grinned wider.
For some reason, despite the danger they were sailing towards, they had never felt better.
l
“When I was a lad living in England, my mother raised me by herself,” said Will as they sailed peacefully. He sharpened his cutlass as the wind took the Interceptor open the open seas. “After she died, I came out here, looking for my father.”
“Is that so?” Jack really wasn’t paying attention and was taking care of the ship.
“My father, Bill Turner?” Will stood and followed Jack towards the helm. “It was only after you learned my name that you agreed to help.” (Y/N) looked at Will and Jack. “Since that’s what I wanted, I didn’t press the matter.” Jack ignored him. “I’m not a simpleton, Jack. You knew my father.”
(Y/N) looked up at Jack as he paused before facing Will properly.
“I knew him,” said Jack. “Probably one of the few people that knew him as William Turner. Everyone else called him ‘Bootstrap’ or ‘Bootstrap Bill.’ ” He turned away.
            Will frowned. “Bootstrap?” he repeated.
“Good man. Good pirate,” said Jack casually.
Will looked at Jack in confusion, and (Y/N) tilted their head. They hadn’t expected that.
“I swear, you look just like him,” said Jack.
“It’s not true. He was a merchant sailor,” said Will. “A good, respectable man who obeyed the law.”
(Y/N) winced. They doubted Jack was lying because he didn’t have a reason to, but Will clearly didn’t want to listen to it.
“He was a bloody pirate, a scallywag,” said Jack, turning back to the helm.
“My father was not a pirate!” Will drew his sword.
“Will, let’s not do this,” said (Y/N), looking at the sword warily.
“Put it away, son,” said Jack. “It’s not worth you getting beat again.”
“You didn’t beat me. You ignored the rules of engagement,” said Will. “In a fair fight, I’d kill you.”
“That’s not incentive for me to fight fair, is it?” said Jack.
“I don’t think there is such thing as a fair fight,” said (Y/N), sitting back and folding their arms. “If someone is more skilled than the other, then it’s not fair fundamentally. People just try to make themselves feel better by having ‘rules.’ Real world is a little wilder.” Like the sea.
Jack and Will paused and looked at them after that strange speech. Honestly, (Y/N) was a little surprised, too. They had just spoken their mind, something they only did with Will and Elizabeth. And they had enjoyed it, letting whatever words or opinions they had—no matter how against society they may be—be spoken aloud.
“…Where did you come from?” said Jack.
(Y/N) shrugged. “Found in the ocean. I don’t know anything more than that.”
“…” Jack and Will looked at them. Jack glanced at Will, who shrugged as if saying “it’s the truth, no matter how weird it is.”
“You have a strange way of talking, laddie, but you’re right!” said Jack jovially. “On the seas, there are only two things that matter—what a person can do and what a person can’t do.” He looked at Will. “For instance, you can accept that your father was a pirate and a good man, or you can’t.” He looked at (Y/N). “And you can accept that the ‘civilized’ gents want somethin’ tamer in the world, or you can’t.” He grinned at both. “But pirate is in your blood, mate, and the sea is in yours, laddie. You’ll have to square with that someday.”
“And what about you?” (Y/N) looked at him. “What can or can’t you do?”
“I can lead this ship astray and not work with ya, but I can’t bring this ship into Tortuga by me onesies,” said Jack brightly. “So. Can you sail under the command of a pirate? Or can you not?”
Will hesitated before sheathing his sword. “Tortuga?”
            Jack grinned. “Tortuga.”
            “What is Tortuga?” asked (Y/N).
“The greatest town a pirate would ever want to step onto land in,” said Jack.
l
(Y/N) stood at the front of the ship and leaned over the side. They gazed at the water rushing by below. The sun had lowered in the sky and sent streaks of light dancing across the waves. The highlights illuminated fish jumping up from the water, and (Y/N) smiled. With the wind whipping their hair and the smell of the sea flying around them, (Y/N) had never felt better. They felt free, like they were the waves themselves rushing by. They knew this was only a brief moment, one that would end as soon as they saved Elizabeth, but it was still nice. (Y/N) felt like themself.
From the helm, Jack and Will watched them lean over the water below. Will was tense, waiting for them to topple overboard, but they hadn’t despite how long they’d been sitting there.
“Mate, you’re gonna explode before we get to Tortuga,” said Jack.
“I don’t want them to get hurt,” said Will. “Elizabeth would never forgive me if something happened to them. I would never forgive myself.”
Jack looked at (Y/N). “The lad seems fine. They’ve got good sea legs.”
Will frowned. “Yes, but they were found floating into the harbor. That means the sea is dangerous for them.” He sighed. “There’s a reason we want them to stay away from the ocean. We don’t them to be lost again. Whoever their family was, they lost them to the sea. We won’t want them to lose us or their own lives.”
“Mate, the seas are the seas,” said Jack, leaning back. “Better to let them understand it than fear it.”
Will glanced at Jack. For the playful pirate, it was an usually philosophical comment. He looked back at (Y/N), who looked like they would lean out and touch the ocean if given a chance.
He hated to admit it, but Jack was right. The ocean was dangerous, that couldn’t be changed. Yet (Y/N) always sought it out, no matter how many times they were warned off. Perhaps Jack was right—even if he was just making an offhanded comment—and (Y/N) should be allowed to be with the sea in order to not fear it. Not that they seemed to. They wanted to be with the ocean more than most people.
Will sighed. He wasn’t cut out for this, worrying so much for Elizabeth and (Y/N). It couldn’t be good for his health.
But he did. He cared too much not to.

Hey there! First time requesting haha but I LOVE your writings!
Anyway may I request some relationship headcanons with Jack, Barbossa and Davy? Thank you and have a good day <3
Hello dear 💖, thanks for your request.
Being in a relationship with them 🫂
Tumblr media
Jack sparrow:
Tumblr media
Jack sparrow, Jack sparrow in a committed relationship is a very special thing. Gibbs even said, "Jack stayin' is like treasure, ye can't lose him cause he values ya too much."
Nights out on the pearl with dancing and music.
Learning how to sail and join the piracy life; plundering the other ships and pillaging those that have treasure.
Jack would match you to his freedom, his soul for the pearl.
Jack being more genuine with you then his previous love interests.
He would still flirt with many lasses but wouldn't commit to them.
Smiling every time he saw you sail the pearl.
Passionate snogging, picture the most dramatic scene in the world, and him kissing you on the forecastle of the ship.
Jack "trying" to impress you with something you like, even if it may involve a dangerous chase with Master Gibbs.
Jack learning to be a good person for you. Only you, he ain't gonna give up the pirate life savvy.
Jack may be on edge with having a child.
Drinking rum together.
Master Gibbs asking about you and Jack. He likes that scuttlebutt of your relationship.
Marriage may be something he has thought about. "See, I'm the captain, and I can give my blessings on my ship, whaddya say love hm."
Jack may be choatic, tred lightly.
Jack would flirt a lot. He would treat you like he treats freedom as his first beloved.
Jack would have "things" and values you first before Master Gibbs.
Jack Sparrow is always showing you adventure and loves to lay with you in the sand on a beach.
Alot of snogging on that beach.
Imagine you're in his cabin, talking about sweet nothing's, and finally, you start start to kiss him until an interruption from one of the crew mates happened. You squeal in embrassment as Jack says, "Oi, can't-cha wait a little longer mate".
Seeing the sun fall each night and being in the arms of Jack Sparrow as he tells his adventures featuring 'a dashing captain who saved a fine lass from evil buccaneers'.
Jack would mature and start to become committed. He would risk his life from the depths of jones's locker to save you.
Know once you have Jack, treat him like treasure cause that's rare to come by.
Hector Barbossa:
Tumblr media
Hector would have a secret affair. He would visit you on land to spend his days with you.
Having peaceful evenings in his quarters or his dining room with you.
Barbossa is more genuine with you, and no tricks or surprises come with it.
He feels the serenity he once did when he's on the pearl.
Being a passionate man, that would even make Jack Sparrow jealous.
You gave him something to believe in and fight for.
He would be protective of you. Perhaps if you knew how to fight, he would back off a bit but still throw a cutlass at a cur for you.
Touching. lot of touching, he would touch your shoulders, neck, face, cheek and hold your body close to him.
Star gaze with you, he would tease you if you got a star wrong.
Act tough and wants you to see him as tough. Despite him only being human, you know when he has his down moments.
He would act in many ways to impress you, but he'll break down his wall to show you who he is, even if he isn't "the best" in the world.
Having insecurity if you showed interest in having a child.
Marriage would be a possible thought, although it would be done under his blessings and not told amongst any of his men.
Kissing him would be passionate, full of touching of your body.
He would carry a miniature portrait of you when he's sailing.
Sometimes drifting off at the ocean missing your presence.
Sparrow mocking him, oh yes, even Jack's smart enough to figure it out.
"Tell me, who's that woman you've been catching fancy? Could've sworn her name starts with y/n, y/n parsley, no tha's not it, Ah y/n L/N that's it."
"Shut It Sparrah."
Barbossa wouldn't forget you. He would hold you dearly close and value every dabloon worth of you. You're his treasure.
Davy Jones:
Tumblr media
Davy would still be in heartbreak over Calypsos betrayal. He wouldn't be able to move from his past until he met you.
You brought him light, life, and hope once again.
He would be softer and kinder to you and mutter small words like "mah heart beats fah you" or "Yah be me savouir."
Having you as his beacon to ease his pain. He would need comforting in your presence.
He would fight for you or anything that comes to destroy you.
Kissing would involve him caressing you with his tentacles and planting his slimy lips on yours.
He could potentially turn human from your kindness. You've given him pieces of humanity.
His past would still remain, it haunts him and nothing can rid of it.
When he's playing the organ, you listen and comfort him.
He would still act cruel, but if you didn't want a person to die, he would let them join the crew in place request for not killing them.
A new pain occurred within him of letting you re join land. However, he can't let you go because he would miss you dearly.
Settling a deal to Calypso to let you live and for once has a redemption arch.
Playing a new song that's a thought of you.
Tossing the locket around his neck into the sea and feeling more at peace.
He would resurface to be with you.
Anyways that's all I have for now:

Codywan POTC AU ideas
Ok so people seemed to like the idea (and my lack of experience in actually making posts that reach people showed when I tried to make this post through reblogging and it didn't appear anywhere :') ) so here's what I currently have with some rough drawings!
Here's the original post I made about it
Ideas and drawings for AU below, please feel free to use!! No idea if I'll actually write something for it, the creature in charge of driving my brain will decide I guess.
Ok so, Obi-Wan fills the role of Elizabeth and Cody is Will in terms of who’s the governor’s child (or grandchild/ward here) and who is found floating at sea with a mysterious medallion and becomes a blacksmith. Going to deviate from the story a lot but needed Cody to have that blood importance link - you will see why later.
Dooku is governor who takes in his grandson Obi Wan as his ward after Qui-Gon’s death, then brings him with him to port royal (feel like Dooku is a good fit for all the colonisation/sugar plantations/definitely not the good guy the films presented him as considering Caribbean in the 1770s.) Obi-wan and Cody grow up keeping in contact and obliviously infatuated with each other as per films.
Not sure if there’s a Norrington equivalent here. Satine would probably be the easiest fit in terms of romantic triangle but couldn’t be an exact match as she’d never be a soldier even if we ignored period accuracy (no idea if I will or not) and a lot of his actions would be an insult to her as a character. Think it would probably be that Satine and Obi-Wan are dear friends who aren’t interested in each other romantically but are being pressured to marry because advantageous match etc. (Possibility of both getting into Methodism and abolitionism through that and that being their points of discussion, and the clash occurs when from start of events of second film Obi-Wan goes and begins to take a much more active route to abolition eg. Killing slavers and boarding their ships to liberate those inside. Satine being against the killing and violence etc but thats later on!)
For Captain Jack Sparrow, who better than the greatest space pirate of them all, Hondo Ohnaka! (Was considering having Quinlan Vos for it but feel like his moral compass is too strong honestly)
As in the films, black pearl (possibly renamed) attacks the port and Obi-Wan is taken aboard with medallion when he invokes parley and, when he gives his surname as Fett, is taken away as they leave. Barbossa I’m currently thinking is Maul (which ties in beautifully and absolutely not completely accidentally with the clone wars episode where Hondo’s crew mutiny him to join Maul) who is going to manage to get singularly obsessed with Obi-Wan by the end of the events of the first film where he is not actually dead/possibly reincarnated like Barbossa in the films but blames Obi-Wan for everything (which would honestly be more justified than the root of Mauls obsession in canon).
Cody breaks Hondo out to help him rescue Obi Wan, they assemble a crew on Tortuga. Various Jedi characters will be appearing as part of a large network of escaped slaves and outlaws (for various reasons) who want to help people in similarly difficult and/or dangerous situations. The Jedi have had dealings with Hondo before and essentially have a similar reaction to him as ghost crew in rebels - don’t trust him as far as they can throw him but often forced to work with him against their better judgement.
Plot progresses as first film but more oh the real villains are the colonisers (though Maul and his crew are giving them a run for their money). Find out that not only is Fett blood needed to break the curse since Jango was involved with initial treasure taking, but there’s a mysterious extra reason why people are wanting to get their hands on a son of Fett. Murmurs of gaining favours with others saying it’s bad luck to have one on the same ship as them. Jedi and Hondo who have known Fett are also reluctant to give their opinion when Cody asks what Jango was like.
Movie accurate romantic and sexual tension between obi-wan and cody, gonna say period accurate homophobia also playing its part in stopping them acting on it.
After being rescued from being marooned Obi-Wan promises Dooku he will marry Satine if they rescue Cody, then sneaks out of ship to help take the Pearl and then on to rescue Cody. If it is Jedi in the crew they may well go with him but otherwise same as film. Hondo persuades Maul that he should become a commodore and Mauls crew “take a walk”. Then events as film but Obi wan kills Maul.
When they’re back at port royal, Cody saves Hondo from execution and Obi Wan saves them both either through really banking on his power as Dooku’s ward/heir or sneaking them away with distraction (possibly even before execution date). I quite like the second option as there’s an opportunity for using smugglers tunnels and a first, desperate kiss as Cody escapes with Hondo to join the crew on the Pearl.
So ends first film as it were. Here’s some more rough drawings of Cody and Obi-Wan start of first film vs third film. I absolutely used a reference for that first drawing of Cody and I nabbed the obi wan base for the drawings from another piece I’m working on so sorry about style discrepancies!
Tumblr media
Second film! Satine and Obi-Wan’s wedding is taking place the next day and Cody, who has been writing letters back and forth with Obi-Wan , is waiting in the smugglers cave for him so they can run away together. But Obi-Wan never shows. Cody either hears at port or through Satine directly (who knew the plan to run away and was banking on the scandal meaning she could avoid marriage for a good while afterwards) that Obi-Wan has been taken into captivity by a Lord Palpatine/Sidious working for the interests of the East India Trading Company. The charges are for aiding and abetting pirates, his role in helping Hondo and Cody escape has been discovered apparently (maybe yes maybe no, Palpatine doesn’t give a fuck he just wants the compass). Cody somehow finds out about the compass being the wanted trade (Satine as a go between perhaps? Saying she’ll send hired men to get the thing that will save her fiancé?) and heads off in search of Hondo.
Hondo’s meanwhile been visited by an old friend to tell him it’s time to pay his debt, and the black spot appears in his hand. Surprise it’s not Jango! It’s Either Fox or Rex! Hondo scared shitless and runs ship aground on an island which is where Cody finds him and his crew at that time. (Do the Jedi help him get there??) Anyway think the island scenes will be more OFMD vibes than actual events of dead man’s chest.
Hondo tricks Cody into going onto shipwreck to search for key he’ll trade in return for compass. Flying Dutchman arrives and with it it’s captain, Darth Vader.
Another very rough drawing I added extremely rough shading to! Vader is combined Davy jones style with a vampire squid because 1) on brand 2) the membrane sections reminded me of the his mask. He’s wearing a bicorn hat which wouldn’t actually be the trend for another couple of decades but let’s just pretend Vader is incredibly fashion forward.
Tumblr media
Cody is alive and so not of interest to Vader, until Hondo, who Vader has sensed and has appeared in front of on the Pearl, tells Vader that he’s a Fett and so part of his payment of 100 souls. Vader scoffs that a Fett son is payment of another’s debt and can’t be used by Hondo, but Hondo replies that Jango Fett died on land and so has no need to settle his debt anymore. Vader finally accepts when Hondo tells him Cody is in love, giving him a fortnight to find the other 99 souls.
Cody hasn’t heard this on the other ship so first he hears of it is Vader basically telling him and welcoming him as another son of Fett. Cody is confused when Vader tells him he can join his brothers on deck, figures he means crew mates, but instead comes face to face with dozens of men who look near identical to him in various states of ‘fishification’.
More rough drawings! I spent too much time on these but they’re still rough so heck it. Only did Alpha 17, Rex and Fox for these ones.
Tumblr media
Alpha has been part of the crew for the longest time, as the first son that Jango Fett ‘paid his debt’ with. Torn between hair styles, but he’s turning into a great white shark. Alpha hasn’t known any life outside of the ship as he was barely walking when Jango took him to Vader. Jango essentially decided to settle his debt with Vader by making the souls to give himself because he’s a full out bastard. Mostly this meant one night stands and then showing up a few years down the line and promising to the mother he’d take care of the child.
Fox actually managed to live his life without Jango taking him as a child but it was still a hard life and he’s actually encountered Lord Palpatine/Sidious before. He doesn’t talk of that time but he has the brand on his neck from it (the pirate P). Either Palpatine killed him or eventually he either ran into Jango or those who knew of sons of Fett and believed that sending one to Vader would grant you favour from him/gain you a wish or something. It doesn’t, Vader just subtracts one from Fett’s debt. (Possibility of Palpatine killing Fox hoping to gain communication/favour with Vader?)
Rex is the most recent addition to the brothers in the crew aside from Cody. He’s only a couple of years younger and only a bit of fishification has started. He’s the most hopeful still of the brothers. He’s the one Cody trusts most and has as a confidant for his plan to steal the key.
Meanwhile Obi-Wan has escaped and disguised himself as a pirate. Manages to find Hondo and various Jedi. They may their way to island with the chest on it and Cody, who has managed to escape the Dutchman (name change pending) appears and fights Hondo.
Feel it would be kind of funny if Maul were to appear at this point and go all KENOBI, just to add to the chaos.
Vader is Anakin and fulfils the role of Davy Jones with Calypso being Padme (fun bit when they go to see her in her human form and they’re met by the handmaidens). Not a perfect fit as padme isn’t flighty and wild like the sea but hey ho. So Vader locked away his heart and trapped Padme in human form.
I honestly have no idea if the twins are running around somewhere or not and what they’re doing. Ashoka is definitely around somewhere as is Ezra and other rebels.
Had an idea of reincarnation or believed to be of Obi-Wan as someone Vader viewed as his in some way. Can either actually be reincarnation of just that they look similar/obi-wan is a descendant but Vader ends up obsessed with him which helps add validity when they pretend he’s Calypso/Padme.
Satine has been facing off with Palpatine and his cronies from a legal stand point but Palpatine isn’t playing fair or legal (particularly when he gets Vader’s heart (possibly delivered by Maul?)). Bo Katan would be sick to turn up and fight anyone and everyone.
Not sure if Jango is actually dead or not, but he had Boba and since he stuck around and loved his mother he thinks of him as his true child and has amazing cognitive dissonance to not be horrified and trying to rescue the others. But think he’s probably dead and boba’s running around somewhere not even aware how much danger he’s in (but possibly told by Jango not to tell people his real surname).
Oh also! Note on initial drawing - so I imagine that occurring with Mace Windu filling the role of Barbossa in the wedding scene!
Anyway hope there’s something in here that intrigues people!

Imagine being a pirate, and not only an ordinary one, but the only child of the legendary Jack sparrow, you were the only thing that he’d never leave behind, never trade, never give up. You were his constant companion, the inly one he entrusted everything to. You would sail the sea together, through storms and calm, adventure and everyday life. To say you’d inherited just half of his insanity would be an understatement, you were like a carbon copy of Jack, maybe not in looks but in personality for sure. You were just as cray as him and it was as if the two of you could read each other’s mind, always on the same page and always following the same plan. He taught you everything and anything he knew, how to handle a blade as well as a pistol, how to make trades in your favour and how to escape any situation. You’d experienced countless adventures with your father and you’d been locked up in every possible way, but still, you escaped with Jack, because he’d never leave you behind. And now, you sail the seven seas with you father as captain of the black pearl and you being his fist mate. Forever until you are taken by the sea.

𝐒𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐎 After an attack on the Black Pearl leaves you seeking refuge on another ship, you become distraught at the lack of knowledge on the whereabouts of your husband, Jack, and the fear for the safety of your baby
𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 mentions of attacks, angst, stillbirth. This may be triggering to some audiences, read at your own discretion.
𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 Jack Sparrow x f! reader
Tumblr media
You went overboard when the canons hit, you struggled against the waves, but you tried to break through the surface of the water. You wanted to go back, find Jack, but you knew you couldn't keep swimming forever, you needed to get to safety, whether that was land or another ship. If you and your baby were going to survive.
You swam for what felt like hours, until another ship found you. "Captain, I think we found another one!" One of the crew members called, while a few others pulled you to safety. "She's with child!"
You were cold, tired, sore, worried for your baby and not knowing if Jack was even alive. You just began to weep. The crew members of the ship led you below deck, and you were relieved to see some of the crew from the Black Pearl, but no signs of Jack. You were given a small, more private room - given the fact you were a woman and pregnant. And hysterical but that was besides the point.
You kept crying out for your husband, for Jack. One of the crew members from the rescue ship, a young man, promised that, if they found Jack, they'd bring him straight to you.
Your worry only grows, and your sobs don't stop, when maybe 15 minutes later, still nobody knows where Jack is. By this point, you've been given fresh, dry clothes to change into, and some water. You change into the simple white shirt and trousers, drinking the water before trying to dry your tears. You go on deck again, despite the protests from both crews.
"Please, I need to find my husband." You begged, and who were they to say no? A pregnant, potential widow looking for her lost husband.
It takes an effort but 25 minutes later, Jack is spotted floating along the waves on a plank of wood. "Jack? Jack!!" You call out, rushing towards his direction on the ship. That same crew member from earlier keeps you from jumping in the water to rescue Jack. But much like you before, Jack is recovered onto the ship, and you're immediately jumping into his arms. He's laying down but he pulls you close, letting your legs hang over his body (imagine that scene in tangled where Flynn is holding Rapunzel).
"Oh love.. Are you okay? Is the wee one okay?" He immediately asks. He's uncharacteristically soft with you, only you. You're his wife, how could he not be?
You nod, everything's okay now that you have him again.
He gets the same treatment, clothes, water, and he gets to rest in the room with you.
You have hope again, and although you're confused about what was going to happen now, you had your husband and you had your baby.
But that night, you started having pains, as if you were going into labor. But that wasn't right, you were only 5 months pregnant. That couldn't be right.
They brought you back above deck (Well, Jack did, as he knew you'd want to be under the stars in the circumstance of your birth.) The crew of the ship let you two be, knowing not to interrupt such a moment.
You were terrified, but Jack just held your hand and kept giving you reassurances as he slipped your trousers off. You pushed and pushed, squeezing his hand, until eventually he could see the head. "Come on, you're doing great, love. Keep pushin' for me." He encouraged, seeing the tears slip down your cheeks. You gave one final big push before he could pull the baby out.
But instead of hearing the cries of your infant, there was silence, deafening silence. "My baby... Why are they crying?? Jack..? You began to get distraught again, weary.
He looked distant, speechless for once in his life. For once, he did not have a witty remark to make, the heavy, dark truth of the situation weighing over him.
Your baby was gone. You knew it in that moment when you saw the guilty expression on his face. "Oh my god.." You painfully choked out, your hand coming to cover your mouth as fresh tears slipped down your face, now from sadness and grief rather than physical pain.
He immediately cut the cord, then called for Gibbs, whispering something that you didn't hear to him, handing him your dead child. "No.. No!" You cried, but Jack quickly shushed you.
"I know, I know, I know. It's okay. I'm right here, we'll be okay. You still have me." He whispered, his own eyes getting teary. Jack never cried, but how could he not cry at this situation? At the loss of your child? Gibbs quickly walked away, and you didn't even want to think about what would happen to the body of what was supposed to be your child.
"Jack.. Hold me. Please Jackie." You cried.
And he did. He held you, cried with you. He cleaned you up, helped you birth the placenta. Gibbs helped here and there, more with getting rid of the placenta, the cloth Jack used to clean you up. He couldn't leave your side for one second as he put your trousers back on, carrying you back to the bed.
It didn't take long for everyone to understand what happened, giving the fact there was a lack of a baby bump on you, but no chubby baby in your arms.

You know what my fatherless ass needs? Davy Jones hcs where he saves a child and keeps them and the kid just gets super attached to him...
He just looks like he'd be a very loving dad, not a very good dad but the kind of dad that tries his best and loves his kid and I will DIE on this hill
DAVY JONES WITH A CHILD
Tumblr media
Since it’s a child he saved rather than had, he’d be more surprised you latched onto him as a child at all. As he already views himself as a monster.
He never has the heart, dead or alive to harm a child. No, that’s not him. There’s no entertainment in that. He would take you in rather, more so to protect you from this world. The cruel world of the living.
He’d probably be a very… Interesting dad, I imagine he’s very closed off. He’s not affectionate either, but he is very action centric.
He would teach the children morale to be what, well- what Calypso was not to him. To present for who you love even if it hurts.
Alongside is INCREDIBLY strict with his crew on how they interact with his child, hell he’d only allow Maccus to talk to you or take orders from.
In only in moments where you’re hurt or terribly scared he’ll start talking about how much he cares for you. Or how much you’ve kept him going.
His real beating heart you are
One of the rules he has, is to never play Liar’s Dice with any crew.
When you’re older, he gives you a briefing on pirates across the world and nobility to fear. Such as Cutler Beckett and Jack Sparrow.
During the time Beckett had him under his clutches, he tried hiding you as best as he could. Only keeping you in the Captain’s quarters, but when that was taken before so, he had you moved down.
One thing you had to grow used to, was the slime, barnacles, all the living micro-organisms about, everything.
Alongside poor hygiene.

this is my own personal headcanon for pre-re1 jill valentine
Jill was raised to be independent from a very young age, her father a thief, and was taught through games and puzzles as a child how to pick locks and find the best ways to figure things out. She was raised to be attentive to nearly every small detail, and she soon was able to pick out things that nearly nobody else would have been able to see, growing up homeschooled in an attempt to bring out the best in her own capability.
She was mostly taught by her father when he had the chance to, but largely taught herself, learning things on her own. She was taught knots, lock-picking, she was taught martial arts, and was encouraged to play sports, enrolling into a rugby team at around thirteen years old.
Once she was a little older, her father began to take her out to his scouting sessions, often beginning to point out flaws in a building, openings that could be taken advantage of. She had already done a substantial amount in martial arts by that time, and was taught how to break into a building without leaving a trace behind, how to skim important documents for details and other stuff that could be valuable, as well as how to move silently.
Jill had also often been taken to a gun range, and was taught how to handle firearms properly and safely, though she and her father never used them. They moved to the U.S when Jill was ten years old, staying in the Midwest.
Jill worked with her father as a thief from when she was sixteen up till she joined the military at eighteen, having never been properly caught by law enforcement.
She had a determination that set her apart from many of the other recruits, pushing through and excelling when it came to certain tasks of the training, such as bomb disposal and infiltration.
Upon joining the 75th Rangers Regiment, and gaining the callsign Sparrow for her strong determination to persevere, her inability to be contained, her father came to visit her on base, taking her out to go on a nighttime walk, and once he did so, pointed at the sky and squeezed her hand, telling her that “his eye is on the sparrow”, a means to encourage her and reassure her.
She soon took that to heart, inscribing that on the lockpick that saved her life after Arklay. Jill’s career kicked off in the early 1990’s, serving in the U.S Army as a soldier.
While she was part of the army, she quickly gained the attention of recruiters searching for potential candidates for Delta Force; the nation’s primary counter-terrorism unit. Jill had initially served in the 75th Rangers Regiment, though she quickly moved onto the nation’s special forces, the Green Berets, before she was finally contacted by a recruiter working for Delta Force, and she soon accepted it, enthusiastic about the offer.
She was allowed to take part in the 6-month, extremely intensive training course, where she excelled in lock picking and especially bomb disposal. During this period of time, she built up a reputation of being resilient, courageous and precise in her work; and she excelled during her training.
After she completed her training and gained experience serving in the force, she was one of the only women in the world with Delta Force training. Due to her excellence when it came to stealth operations, especially breaking into buildings without leaving a trace, her capability with lockpicking, Jill was often sent on solo missions as part of manhunts or anti-terrorist operations, operating in high-risk high-stress environments, and her position as Captain helped her immensely.
She excelled when it came to ambushes and gaining intel or special reconnaissance operations, and for the majority of combat operations worked within Squadron A as their recon/sniper trooper, assisting in direct assault.
Jill was incredibly skilled with melee and with firearms, having trained with Jack Krauser when it came to close combat, using her agility and speed over brute force - she was far quicker and used that to her advantage.

Also, can I ask if you can elaborate on what bad habits (canon or not ) Jack might slip back into while in the presence of his father?
yesss okay so it’s actually less bad habits that Jack slips back into, and just old patterns of behaviour? many of which are unhealthy but are also just coping mechanisms that Jack adopted over years of his early life to deal with the miserable situation he grew up in. once he’s left Shipwreck behind ( or has moved out in modern verse ) and is no longer around Teague, Jack realises that he can be less reliant on those behaviours because he now has his own freedom and independence ( two things that become extremely important to him as a result ). there are psychological scars, of course, but it’s only once Jack is away from Teague that he is truly able to forge his own identity  —  and this is why I personally think that, even though Jack’s time with the EITC ends in a lot of pain and tragedy for him, it was actually the best thing to happen at that point in his life as it enabled him to figure out who he was without Teague looming over his shoulder.
the major bad habits, to cover those first, are alcohol and risky behaviour. Jack falls into both of those habits more while in the presence of his father later in life, and these are just coping strategies based on how Teague always makes Jack feel ( and we know Jack doesn’t like feeling anything ). Jack could have spent years at this point as a pirate captain, confident and assured and respected for the most part by his crew and others around him, and could well have experienced what healthy love actually is, but simply Teague’s presence manages to strip away all of that confidence all at once. it effectively unlocks a switch in Jack’s brain that threatens to revert him back to his 19 year old self  —  the one who couldn’t do anything right for trying, who was repeatedly talked down to and made to feel worthless. one way that Jack would try to counter this is by drinking more in an attempt to numb those sharper parts of his brain, and the result of feeling a little more emotionally volatile would push Jack into more dangerous and risky behaviour.
Jack will also just avoid Teague whenever they are in close proximity. this is the case for a number of my verses where Jack does visit Shipwreck Cove or bases himself there on account of Elizabeth or Henry or his own kids living there; the way in which he copes with the fact that Teague is also there is just by trying to avoid him wherever he can. he won’t make an effort to speak to him or spend any time with him unless he absolutely has to, and even then it’s under a lot of duress. Jack doesn’t want to even attempt to make amends or repair things: so far as he is concerned, things are unsalvageable and he believes he would endure more pain for trying to fix things than just letting them be broken.
as a result, Jack would not want anyone else getting involved in their relationship, even people that he cared deeply for. part of this is just an avoidance strategy so that he can continue to not address the fundamental problems within his and his father’s relationship, but another part of it is Jack falling into old patterns of behaviour. Jack has a complicated relationship with the notion that he was actually abused as a child, and in both canon and modern verses he doesn’t tell anyone about the abuse ( he only briefly tells Esmeralda in TPOF, but plays it off lightly ). if that was to suddenly come to light later in life through someone observing Jack and Teague’s relationship, Jack will fall back into the pattern of denial and resisting and obstructing any attempt there might be from that someone to confront Teague about it.
in his mind, he would not want such a confrontation  —  even later in life as an adult who is mostly free from Teague’s influence  —  because it would either a) end poorly for the person who is standing up for him ( he says in TPOF that Teague is “rough on those who annoy him” and arguably took the punishment from Esmeralda kicking his ass in order to protect her ), or b) it would only make Teague’s treatment of him worse out of anger at Jack having told someone about it. and again, arguably Jack is safer from Teague’s treatment later in life once there is that space between them, but Jack’s brain was wired for so long to fear this being the case that it is an easy pattern to fall back into.

Things that happen at work:
Me: *finds several horrible jokes, tells them all to Work Child 3 first*
Poor Work Child 4, innocently wandering into the victim range: What are you two giggling about?
Me: dude, dude…let’s one off on him for all five!
WC3: Oooohhh, yes! Okay, okay! You start.
Me: What do you call a fish with one eye?
WC3: Fsh. *he was all dramatic about it so it was mor like “Ffffssshhhh”*
WC4: *closes his eyes, tilts his head back, shoulders drop, screaming dissatisfaction with his body language*
WC3: What’s brown and sticky?
Me: a stick.
WC4: *straightens up, with a look of dawning horror and realization on his face*
Me: Do you know what drag queen story time is?
WC4, hoping that there’s a little light at the end of the tunnel: No???
WC3, grinning because the light at the end of the tunnel is on fire: Nah, it’s where men wear dresses and tell stories to little kids. Now, how is that different from the Catholic Church?
Work Child 2,having wandered over: Oh, that was fucked up.
WC4: *realizes what’s happening, has covered his face to prevent eye roll movements but not realizing that the shoulders are the main giveaways for Exasperation and Disappointment*
Me: Alright, so CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow and Forest Gump are having a conversation, and Jack asks Forest “what is a pirate’s favorite drink?”
And Forest thinks for a while, but eventually says “Hi-C”
And Jack says “No. Rum, Forest. Rum!”
WC3: *dies laughing*
WC2: * walks away chuckling and muttering “yeah ok”*
Me: *runs the fuck away cackling because WC4 started fishing scrap metal out of the pile with the very clear intent to throw*

Chapter Eighteen: Meeting Sao Feng
Summary: (Y/N) and their friends need a map to Davy Jones's locker, and that means venturing to Singapore.
Two months later…
(Y/N) sat behind Elizabeth as she punted them downstream in the waters around Singapore. The song had recently reached the pirates, and the pair sang it quietly. (Y/N) sang it for all the people who had lost their lives as the East India Trading Company’s reign of terror began.
“Some have died, and some are alive,” they hummed quietly. “Others sail on the sea. With the keys to the cage, and the devil to pay, we lay to the Fiddler’s Green. The bell has been raised from its watery grave. Hear its sepulchral tone.”
(Y/N) watched as British soldiers stalked across bridges in search of more innocent lives to destroy. They caught pirates daily, yet they were the ones colonizing, pillaging, thieving.
“A call to all, pay heed to the squall, turn your sails to home. Yo ho,” sang (Y/N). “Haul together. Hoist the colors high.”
Elizabeth stopped the longboat and tied it.
            “Heave-ho.”
            They stepped out.
            “Thieve—”
“Thief and beggar,” said the guard of the secret entrance to Soa Feng’s pirate lair.
Sao Fang was the leader of the Singaporean pirates and the latest person they needed to contact in order to have a way to reach World’s End, the Black Pearl, and Jack.
“Never shall we die,” finished the guard. “A dangerous song to be singing for any who are ignorant of its meaning. Particularly a woman and a child.” He smirked. “Particularly when they’re alone.”
“What makes you think they’re alone?” Barbossa walked down to the canal.
“You protect them?” snapped the guard.
(Y/N) grabbed one guard, and Elizabeth grabbed another. They lifted knives to their throats.
“We don’t need protecting,” said (Y/N).
Barbossa grinned. After returning to life, he had worked with the crew of the Pearl to find it again. He had found that Elizabeth was a formidable pirate (especially after she threatened him with a sword to cut his throat if he tried to touch her, Will, or (Y/N) again). He had also discovered that (Y/N) was as dangerous as they had seemed fighting alongside Jack. In fact, he had become a little fond of (Y/N) (if only to hopefully piss of Jack a bit that his protégé could also be taught by Barbossa). All in all, he was enjoying the expert crew of the Black Pearl.
“Your master’s expecting us,” said Barbossa. “And an unexpected death’d cast a slight pall on our meeting.”
All the pirates looked at each other and hesitantly lowered their weapons warily.
“Pick those feet up!” said a British soldier. “Eyes front.”
The pirates retreated to the edge of the canal to avoid being spotted. Sao Feng’s guards led the way to the grate and into the underground tunnels of Singapore.
“Have you heard anything from Will?” asked Elizabeth.
“I trust young Turner to acquire the charts and you to remember your place in the presence of Captain Sao Feng,” warned Barbossa.
“What’s he like?” asked (Y/N), not promising anything.
“He’s much like myself, but absent my merciful nature and sense of fair play,” said Barbossa.
            Wonderful, thought (Y/N).
The guards walked up to a lock door and spoke a password. It was unlocked and opened to reveal a new passageway. Several guards held out their hands, and Barbossa began handing over his weapons. (Y/N) grumbled but handed over their sword, pistol, and daggers. Elizabeth, on the other hand, somehow procured over a dozen weapons from her person, hidden in places no one would think of except for her (even some unsavory places).
Finally, though, they were let into Sao Feng’s chambers. It was a sauna full of pirates being served by women with drinks and drugs. The heavy smoke of opium hung in the air, and (Y/N) wrinkled their nose.
Sao Feng himself stood on a dais, clad in leather armor with ornate embellishments. A large scar extended across his face, and he looked down his nose at the group. While Barbossa enjoyed the riches and glory of captaining and Jack adored the very act of being on the sea, it was clear Sao Feng loved the power he commanded in a room.
Barbossa bowed to appease his ego. He gestured to Elizabeth and (Y/N). Elizabeth bowed, and (Y/N) suppressed a roll of their eyes before bowing. Their skin itched. For two months now, every time they had to do something they didn’t wish to or had to obey another’s wishes that went against their own, the itch returned. The restless energy was deep in their body, in their heart.
“Captain Barbossa, welcome to Singapore,” said Sao Feng. He glanced at his servant. “More steam.” Water vapor pumped into the air. “I understand that you have a request to make of me.”
“More of a proposal to put to ye,” said Barbossa. “I’ve a venture underway, and I find myself in want of a ship and a crew.”
“Hm. It’s an odd coincidence,” remarked Sao Feng. His tone, however, suggested he knew more than he had so far revealed.
“Because you happen to have a ship and a crew you don’t need?” said Elizabeth, raising a brow.
“No,” said Sao Feng. “Because earlier this day, not far from here, a thief broke into my most revered uncle’s temple and tried to make off with these.” He picked up a roll of maps. “The navigational charts. The route to the Farthest Gate.”
Elizabeth, Barbossa, and (Y/N) exchanged looks. Those were what Will had been searching for.
Sao Feng threw the charts to a guard. “Wouldn’t it be amazing if this venture of yours took you to the world beyond this one?”
“It would strain credulity at that,” said Barbossa.
(Y/N) nearly rolled their eyes, and they glanced warily around.
Sao Feng nodded to a pair of guards by a steam bath. They raised a log to reveal arms tied to it. Will gasped for air as he was raised from the scalding water.
“This is the thief,” said Sao Feng casually. “Is his face familiar to you?”
All three shook their heads “no.”
“Then I guess he has no further need for it,” said Sao Feng, rearing back to stab Will.
“No, no,” gasped Elizabeth, unable to stop herself.
Sao Feng stopped and turned around slowly. He had trapped them in their lie. “You come into my city, and you betray my hospitality.
Barbossa stood straight. “I assure you I had no idea—”
“That he would get caught!” interrupted Sao Feng.
Around them, Singaporean pirates stood and surrounded the group.
“You intend to attempt the voyage to Davy Jones’s locker,” said Sao Feng matter-of-factly. “But I cannot help but wonder…why?”
(Y/N) shifted, and Barbossa and Elizabeth both put a hand out. If (Y/N) were to speak up, it wouldn’t be polite, which wouldn’t end well. (Y/N)’s skin itched, and they shifted with unused energy.
Barbossa tossed a coin through the air in response to Sao Feng. He caught it, bit it to test it, and stared at it.
“The song has been sung,” said Barbossa. “The time is upon us. We must convene the Brethren Court. As one of the nine pirate lords, you must honor the call.”
Sao Feng narrowed his eyes. His hand curled into a fist. “More steam.” The words held all the frustration he wished to express. Nothing came, and he whirled on his servants. “More steam!” he bellowed. Still none.
“There is a price on all our heads,” continued Barbossa, distracting Sao Feng from what was most likely their crew interfering.
“Aye. It is true,” said Sao Feng. “It seems the only way a pirate can turn a profit anymore…is by betraying other pirates.”
Oh, bloody hell, thought (Y/N). It was a suspicious turn of phrase, even if he seemed to be addressing Will’s predicament.
Barbossa continued. “We must put our differences aside. The First Brethren Court gave us rule of the seas.”
(Y/N)’s gaze flicked to him, and their hands clenched at their sides. The seas weren’t to be ruled by anyone. They were free, wild, untamable. Like m—
“But now that rule is being challenged by Lord Cuter Beckett,” said Barbossa.
“Against the East India Trading Company, what value is the Brethren Court?” said Sao Feng derisively. “What can any of us do?”
“You can fight,” snapped (Y/N), their words breaking free. Sao Feng’s sharp gaze landed on them, but they did not cower. “You are Sao Feng, pirate lord of Singapore. You’re a commander in an age where brave captains still sail free waters, despite those waves being measure in fear and not feet.” Their stormy eyes flicked over Sao Feng, and it was as piercing as a needle. “And yet you would just watch such an era come to an end.” They met his eyes. “The most notorious pirates from around the world are uniting against our enemy. Their names will be remembered in legends.” A soft sneering smirk spread across their features. “Yours will be drowned in the bathwater you cower within.”
Elizabeth’s eyes widened, and Barbossa closed his eyes and cursed Jack for teaching them to be so mouthy (not that it had come from him. It was natural to (Y/N), and their natural self broke free more and more every day).
Sao Feng stared at them and stepped off the dais. (Y/N) refused to flinch or back away. Sao Feng circled them like a shark, gazing at them quizzically.
“(Y/N) Swann,” said Sao Feng. “There is more to you than meets the eyes, isn’t there?”
(Y/N) followed him with their eyes as he circled them and returned to the front.
“But I cannot help but notice you have failed to answer my question,” continued Sao Feng. “What is it you seek in Davy Jones’s Locker?” Barbossa opened his mouth, but Sao Feng held up a hand. “I want the small one to answer.”
That must be me since I’m the kid.
            “They seem to enjoy speaking.”
I’d prefer fighting. Thankfully, (Y/N) kept that thought to themself. “A friend.”
Sao Feng narrowed his eyes. “That is not an answer.”
            “It is,” said (Y/N).
Elizabeth fought back a sigh as (Y/N) decided to be sarcastic and play tricks with the pirate lord of Singapore.
“Jack Sparrow!” declared Will, breaking in. “We seek Jack Sparrow.”
            Laughter erupted throughout the sauna.
“He’s one of the pirate lords,” said Will, speaking over the derision.
(Y/N) watched Sao Feng run a hand over his head. They noted the slight tremble with curiosity.
“The only reason I would want Jack Sparrow returned from the land of the dead is so I can send him back myself!” he hissed.
It seems Jack left his usual impression on people on Sao Feng.
“Jack Sparrow holds one of the nine pieces of eight,” said Barbossa. “He failed to pass it along to a successor before he died. So we must go and get him back.”
“So you admit…you have deceived me,” said Sao Feng slowly. “Weapons!” He drew his sword.
All the pirates let out a shout and grabbed their weapons.
“Sao Feng, I assure you, our intentions are strictly honorable,” said Barbossa.
Through the slatted boards, swords flew up into the air. Barbossa, (Y/N), and Elizabeth each caught one. Barbossa caught the extra for Will. He coughed as Sao Feng narrowed his eyes. Obviously, their intentions had been honorable with a heavy dose of “just in case” dishonesty.
Sao Feng grabbed a Singapore man and held a sword to his throat. “Drop your weapons or I kill the man!”
(Y/N), Elizabeth, Will, and Barbossa wore identical expressions of confusion.
“Kill him,” said Barbossa. “He’s not our man.”
Now it was Sao Feng’s turn to look confused as he stared at the nervous man.
“If he’s not with you, and he’s not with us…who’s he with?” said Will.
            “Beckett,” breathed (Y/N).
            Bam!
The doors broke open the moment the name left them. “Charge!” cried the British. Muskets fired, and the pirates ducked and attacked as best they could.
Will used the pole he was tied to in order to rush into several men before they could fire. (Y/N) wove through the crowd and slashed through his bindings. Barbossa tossed him a sword. Elizabeth expertly dueled several soldiers at once, and (Y/N) handled their own crowd. They swept through the British, dancing through the attacks aimed at them. They flowed like water from one stab to another parry to a slash to a duck to a kick to a pivot to attack after attack.
From within the platoon, a familiar face emerged. Mercer stepped out, clad in black, and looked across the room of fighting pirates with his sharp, cruel eyes. They landed on (Y/N), and he raised a gun. It was not a pistol, though. This one contained a small dart to incapacitate its target. Of course, Mercer had a proper pistol at his side. If the child resisted…Well, Beckett said controlled or killed.
            Bang!
“(Y/N)!” Elizabeth tackled them as she saw the shot.
It flew over their head and hit the wall. Will ran to their side and hauled Elizabeth and (Y/N) up. Barbossa and Sao Feng cut down several attacks, and the group found themselves fighting side by side. Unfortunately, the British were closing in and had their muskets ready once more.
“Ready?” said Mercer, preparing another dart.
(Y/N)’s gaze flicked to it, confused but frightened at what it meant for them.
            “Fire.”
            Boom!
Instead of the crack of rifles, the floor exploded. The British collapsed back into the hole. The pirates shouted a war cry and stormed onward. Sao Feng grabbed the charts as they ran. The Black Pearl crew ran out from beneath the sauna, fired their pistols, and drew their swords. It was Singapore and Pearl pirates versus the East India Company.
The fight spread into the streets of Singapore as the pirates fled the British, and shops and carts were overturned as their keepers joined the angry brawl—fists were as much weapons at this point as muskets or cutlasses.
(Y/N) leapt over a table and slid under another. With a flick of their wrist, they cut through a soldier’s ankle, and he collapsed. Without being able to stand, (Y/N) ended him in another stab before jumping onto another table to gain the high ground. A soldier ran at them, and they jumped to avoid him. They grabbed the tent’s supporting pole, swung forward, and kicked him in the head. (Y/N) landed and darted towards the canals.
Behind them, a group of soldiers aimed to fire, but the cart behind them exploded. They fell dead and hurtled into the river. (Y/N) grinned behind them, knowing Tia Dalma stood smirking at her plan working.
They ran beside the canals, waiting to spot another friend to regroup.
            Boom!
This time not according to plan, a building exploded with a hundred unplanned fireworks. It was right behind them, and (Y/N) flew through the air. Their vision spun between dark and light, and they splashed into the water. They submerged, and their mind cleared. They pushed to the surface and took a deep breath.
Grumbling, they pulled themself to the walkway.
“Goin’ for a swim at a time like this?”
(Y/N) looked up, unamused, at Barbossa. “Putting on a firework show at a time like this?” they retorted.
Barbossa chuckled and pulled (Y/N) out of the water. Tia Dalma stood next to him and gazed at (Y/N) with a smile.
“How do you feel?” said Tia Dalma.
“Wet,” said (Y/N). “But fine.” They had only been temporarily disoriented.
            “I’m sure,” said Tia Dalma.
Will appeared from round the corner with a group of pirates.
“You have the charts?” said Barbossa, eyes locking on the bundle in Will’s arms.
“And better yet,” said Will. He tossed the charts to Barbossa and gestured to the Singaporean pirates behind him. “A ship and a crew.”
“Where’s Sao Feng?” Elizabeth joined the rendezvous with the rest of the Black Pearl crew.
“He’ll cover our escape and meet us at Shipwreck Cove,” said Will.
Barbossa nodded. “This way. Be quick.”
l
(Y/N) looked back at the fire still burning in Singapore as they sailed away. The water rippled around them as the ship moved smoothly over the water. They held the edge of the ship tightly. They had a way to Jack. They’d find him, the Pearl, and a way to stop Beckett. Freedom would win. It had to.
“There seems to be a lot on your mind,” said Tia Dalma, joining them at the side of the ship.
“I’m worried about Jack. What it must be like in the Locker,” said (Y/N).
“Jack is a man of no constancy, coming and going with the tide. But he is also one of great passion for what he cares for—adventure, life, freedom…” Tia Dalma looked at (Y/N). “But the Locker cannot take his heart. He will lose nothing but his mind.”
“Which was lost a long time ago,” said (Y/N) with a smile.
“Then you have nothing to fear,” said Tia Dalma, reaching out and touching (Y/N)’s hand. It was clear (Y/N) was attached to Jack, though how deserving he was of it remained to be seen.
(Y/N) hummed, and they glanced back at Singapore. “Do you think Sao Feng will answer the call now that it is clear he can be found wherever he hides?”
Tia Dalma’s expression grew grim. “I cannot say. There is an evil on these seas that even the most staunch and bloodthirsty pirate have come to fear.”
“We should hope someone will face it instead of fearing it, then,” said (Y/N).
Tia Dalma looked at (Y/N) with a mysterious glint in her eye. “We should hope.”
