The new album 'Sending Up Flares' was released by Fluff & Gravy Records last Fall and the response has been fantastic. There were joyous shows opening and singing with The Indigo Girls, a West Coast band run, a UK tour with Jerry Joseph, & solo performances in the NE and NW of the USA. The album is still fresh and there's much more ahead. Starting with these TOURDATES! xoxo, CN

== Casey Bloys ==
Whelp, Casey Bloys stepped in it again by posting an article by The Wrap about how True Detective was the most watched season on max. As you can imagine, a good chunk of the crew started calling BS on that, what with the Parrot Analytics stats from yesterday.
Well, some of our favorite hashtags started trending this morning... #OhBloysHeMad and #TheNumbersWereThere
And in case you needed to see some more data that Bloys was full of crap--- Thank you to our dear friend @quirkysubject for pulling in Rotten Tomatoes Average Tomato-meter Ranking in with the Parrot Analytics Data in this awesome chart!
Not terribly long after, apparently the comments on The Wrap article really started to irritate ol Casey boy because he turned off comments on the post.
BUUUUUUT Our dear crewmate @spanishjenkies was kind enough to save a video before hand! So there's evidence of the trolling. Visit their twitter thread here.
Some of the crew has decided to go a bit further with the glorious Passive Aggression and started sending Casey Bloys gifts! @single_cat_mom sent him a Casio Compact Calculator to help him with his future numbers!
Annnnd our crewmate @ofmooshd got a cockroach at the zoo named after ol Casey Bloys!
Truly legendary levels of Polite Menacing today, m'dears! What a day!

Hey there lovelies!! Guess what time it is? I've had too much caffeine and I've taken my adhd meds on time so I'm Here, Queer, and ready to Cheer!
Look at everything you all did today! Do you see this list? And that's just a minuscule coverage of the pure polite chaos that ensued! I literally cannot add any more pictures because just so much has happened. We are 36 days in the Gravy Basket and you all are just ramping things up!
The tenacity, and creativity of this crew never ceases to amaze me!
There are more fundraisers in the works... (I'll post more when I know more) there's a slew of events, watch parties, and pure camaraderie everywhere! Everyone's making amazing memes, and artwork and fics! Seriously, you all should be proud of yourselves!
Not to mention, some of the most important things of all-- I am seeing SO MUCH SELF CARE. You are reaching out to the crew for support, you're taking days off, you're having fun and being creative for you... getting back to pet projects and doing things you enjoy!
You all are doing SO WELL. You are kicking ass, don't forget that! We'll have our down days, but no matter what you are making waves all over the place, bringing positive things to this world!
As a side note, I wanted to mention, I know tomorrow can be a tough day for a lot of people. It can be lonely, or bring up good or bad memories. Please be sure to reach out to your crew for love if you're struggling. We love you, and even if it's a platonic love, it's overflowing here for you. You are wonderful, and we want to send you all the love we can.
That being said, I'm gonna end tonight with another note from @thelatestkate that I needed to hear a lot recently so I'm gonna share it with you too <3
You got this! Sending so much love m'dears!

These were the two gifs that murdered me today so I hope you enjoy. These goofy buggers always make my day.
It’s October! The month in which I watch even more horror movies than usual. Each year I tend to have a theme to help narrow down what to watch. So far I’ve done Zombie Films, Werewolf Films, Vampire Films, Slasher Films and Ghost Films. This year’s theme will be Cosmic/Eldritch Horror (or as most know it as Lovecraftian Horror.
This list isn’t going to contain every film in the world that is base on H.P. Lovecraft's works, have elements of it or is inspired by it. These are just the ones that I liked the most (that doesn't necessary mean they're all good though) and would recommend to others if they’re interested in this subgenre. So, in no particular order check out these films...
In the Mouth of Madness (1994) -- is an American supernatural horror film directed and scored by John Carpenter and written by Michael De Luca. It stars Sam Neill, Julie Carmen, Jürgen Prochnow, David Warner and Charlton Heston.
When horror novelist Sutter Cane goes missing, freelance insurance investigator John Trent scrutinizes the claim made by his publisher, Jackson Harglow. He's to retrieve a yet-to-be-released manuscript and ascertain the writer's whereabouts. Accompanied by the novelist's editor, Linda Styles, and disturbed by nightmares from reading Cane's other novels, Trent makes an eerie nighttime trek to a supernatural town in New Hampshire.
In the Mouth of Madness pays tribute to the works of author H. P. Lovecraft in its exploration of insanity, and its title is derived from the Lovecraft novella At the Mountains of Madness.
Color Out of Space (2019) -- is an American science fiction Lovecraftian horror film directed and co-written by Richard Stanley, based on the short story "The Colour Out of Space" by H. P. Lovecraft. It stars Nicolas Cage, Joely Richardson, Elliot Knight, Madeleine Arthur, Brendan Meyer, Q'orianka Kilcher and Tommy Chong.
The Gardner family moves to a remote farmstead in rural New England to escape the hustle of the 21st century. They are busy adapting to their new life when a meteorite crashes into their front yard, melts into the earth, and infects both the land and the properties of space-time with a strange, otherworldly colour.
The Void (2016) -- is an Canadian Lovecraftian horror film written and directed by Steven Kostanski and Jeremy Gillespie, and produced by Jonathan Bronfman and Casey Walker. It stars Aaron Poole, Kenneth Welsh, Daniel Fathers, Kathleen Munroe, and Ellen Wong.
In the middle of a routine patrol, officer Daniel Carter happens upon a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted stretch of road. He rushes the young man to a nearby rural hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to become trapped by a gathering of hooded cultists, and grotesque creatures.
The Lighthouse (2019) -- is an American film directed and produced by Robert Eggers, from a screenplay he wrote with his brother Max Eggers. It stars Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson as nineteenth-century lighthouse keepers in turmoil after being marooned at a remote New England outpost by a wild storm.
Cold Skin (2017) -- is an French-Spanish science fiction-horror film directed by Xavier Gens and based on the 2002 novel of the same name by Albert Sánchez Piñol.
On the edge of the Antarctic Circle, a ship approaches a desolate island, far from all shipping lanes. On board is a young man who is on his way to assume the post of weather observer and live in solitude at the end of the earth. He finds no trace of the man he has been sent to replace, just a deranged castaway who has witnessed a horror he refuses to name. For the next twelve months, his entire world will consist of a deserted cabin, trees, rocks, silence and the surrounding sea.
Note: I wasn't gonna include this but after watching The Lighthouse I figured why not. It certainly fits with the theme.
Underwater (2020) -- is an American science fiction action horror film directed by William Eubank. The film stars Kristen Stewart, Vincent Cassel, Jessica Henwick, John Gallagher Jr., Mamoudou Athie, and T.J. Miller.
After an earthquake destroys their underwater station, six researchers must navigate two miles along the dangerous, unknown depths of the ocean floor to make it to safety in a race against time.
Offseason (2021) - is an American supernatural horror film written and directed by Mickey Keating. It stars Jocelin Donahue, Joe Swanberg, Richard Brake, and Melora Walters.
Upon receiving a mysterious letter that her mother's grave has been vandalized, Marie quickly returns to the isolated offshore island where she's buried. Just as she arrives, the island closes for the season as the bridges get raised until springtime. Left stranded, Marie soon realizes that something is not quite right as she has one strange interaction after another. She must now unveil the mystery behind her mother's troubled past to make it out alive.
Annihilation (2018) -- is an science fiction psychological horror film written and directed by Alex Garland, based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Jeff VanderMeer. It stars Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, Tuva Novotny, and Oscar Isaac.
The story follows a group of explorers who enter "The Shimmer", a mysterious quarantined zone of mutating plants and animals caused by an alien presence.
Lena, a biologist and former soldier, joins a mission to uncover what happened to her husband inside Area X -- a mysterious quarantined zone that is expanding across the American coastline. Once inside, the expedition discovers a world of mutated landscapes and creatures, as dangerous as it is beautiful, that threatens both their lives and their sanity.
Event Horizon (1997) -- is an science fiction horror film directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and written by Philip Eisner. It stars Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Kathleen Quinlan and Joely Richardson.
Set in 2047, it follows a crew of astronauts sent on a rescue mission after a missing spaceship, the Event Horizon, spontaneously appears in orbit around Neptune, only to discover that a sinister force has come back with it.
The Mist (2007) -- (also known as Stephen King's The Mist) is an American science-fiction horror film based on the 1980 novella The Mist by Stephen King. The film was written and directed by Frank Darabont. The film features an ensemble cast, including Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden, Nathan Gamble, Andre Braugher, Sam Witwer, Toby Jones, Frances Sternhagen, Buck Taylor, Robert Treveiler, William Sadler, Alexa Davalos, David Jensen, Chris Owen, Andy Stahl, and future The Walking Dead stars Jeffrey DeMunn, Laurie Holden, Melissa McBride, and Juan Gabriel Pareja.
After a violent storm, a dense cloud of mist envelops a small Maine town, trapping artist David Drayton and his five-year-old son in a local grocery store with other people. They soon discover that the mist conceals deadly horrors that threaten their lives, and worse, their sanity.
The Cellar (2022) -- is an supernatural horror film written and directed by Brendan Muldowney. It's an international co-production between Ireland and Belgium. It also starsElisha Cuthbert and Eoin Macken.
It follows a family whose daughter mysteriously vanishes in the cellar of the large estate they have just moved into.
Glorious (2022) -- is an American comedy horror film directed by Rebekah McKendry, and starring Ryan Kwanten and J. K. Simmons.
The film involves a heartbroken man who encounters a strange, all-knowing entity in a rest stop bathroom stall.
Bonus:
These are either based on Lovecraft's works, have Lovecraftian influence and references or gives off strong feels like one (even unintentionally).
Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities (2022)
Julie Carmen and Sam Neill in In the Mouth of Madness (John Carpenter, 1994)
Cast: Sam Neill, Julie Carmen, Jürgen Prochnow, David Warner, John Glover, Bernie Casey, Peter Jason, Charlton Heston, Frances Bay. Screenplay: Michael De Luca. Cinematography: Gary B. Kibbe. Production design: Jeff Ginn. Film editing: Edward Warschilka. Music: John Carpenter, Jim Lang.
A box office failure in its theatrical debut, John Carpenter's cleverly recursive In the Mouth of Madness has since gathered an enthusiastic following. I'm not one of the enthusiasts -- I find it much too frantic to be very scary, entertaining, or thought-provoking -- but I see what they like about it. It's partly a satiric look at the popularity of horror fiction and its movie spinoffs, centering on an obvious target: Stephen King. In the film, the horror writer is called Sutter Cane (Jürgen Prochnow), who lives in New Hampshire (next door to Maine, where King lives). Maybe to avoid any legal problems, the analogy is made explicit in the movie: King is name-checked several times. The other obvious horror writer target is H.P. Lovecraft, who isn't mentioned, but he's dead and can't sue. One reason for my discontent with In the Mouth of Madness is the miscasting of Sam Neill, who plays an insurance investigator who gets caught up in the search for Sutter Cane and his latest manuscript. Neill is one of my favorite underappreciated actors, but he seems all at sea here: Even his well-practiced American accent is sometimes clotted with his native New Zealand vowels. The role, which has a comic undertone, needs a more smart-alecky performer like Jim Carrey or Bill Murray. But then most of the cast -- including a cameo by Charlton Heston and a screen debut by Hayden Christensen as a paperboy -- is just along for the ride as the special effects and the plot kinks mount up.
i saw u asking for blorbo art requests and would like to request a casey jones jr or april o neill from rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles. (only if u want to tho ofc)

Casey Neill & The Norway Rats – Sending Up Flares (Fluff and Gravy Records)
Perhaps what I dig most about Sending Up Flares is its seductively contemplative nature as a whole. If we can just close our eyes, turn off the media feed, and listen, the right music arises from the ether to greet us like chicken noodle soup in the headphones.

Casey Neill & The Norway Rats are Sending Up Flares
New to me, this band is making superb songs, and reminiscent of Michael Stipe/R.E.M., Warren Zeavon, Bruce Hornsby, and more, but I don’t hear The Pogues so much.
Hearing this album has made my day!
Casey Neill has made or contributed to 16 other albums since 1998. There’s 10 of them along with this new one on Amazon…
Today is my birthday.
And for this year, here is something I've been thinking about for quite a long time: A good bunch of my favorite male characters - including those I recently knew or I like but not enough as to fanart, but taking away everyone I've abandoned or just felt like they shouldn't be here - all gathered up in a boxing ring, the majority wounded and weary, but some a bit dirty and confused. Serious and sad faces, a dark story to tell behind their piercing bleary looks but for some, way worse.
And of course - the simplycity, cartoonism and bouncyness of my circled neckless heads, bubble eyes and long rectangly trapece bodies. Dedication and pressure to myself cannot be forgotten on this process...as well as telling you this is based off the Whatcha Say meme.
And now the copyrights, which tells you the characters, their series, their actors and their rights, starting from the first row. Hope you like it!

And for anyone who wants to watch its process...
We kinda need to talk about this at some point, since we are locked up in a who knows how much time, been doing quarantine since february and i can't go out until there is a cure, because i'm a risky kind of person, so instead i have the need to watch the outside world through the movies, so i choose a top 10 of movies about reality or that has some sort of reality on them. First of them would be:
Who hasn't been bullied at school as a kid? I know i have, so i know how the main character here feels, even if the anger is real i didn't ended up doing what he did. Because i'm not that dumb, but yeah, reminds me my school years.
I haven't reviewed this one here, so this is about a satanic cult and the stereotype of guys who listen to metal has to be satanic kind of bullshit, makes you see how the world sees that kind of people, because we live in a world where pop is well received but rock it isn't, this guys here or a least some of them takea things to another level, because one of them ia crazy aa fuck, still good movie to watch.
Another movie i haven't reviewed yet, it has been years that i was searching for this movie because the only thing i could remember was the guy in the poster locked up in a psyward with hia body all covered on ink, i didn't even remembered it was the jurassic park guy in this movie, this movie starts being a certain case of reality until the main character lost it, he goes full time mad crazy, and start seeing crazy shit in a lovecraft way of seeing crazy shit, but shows you how easy is for a person to go crazy and is a really interesting movie.
On the edge is about a guy who had a meltdown and tried to commit suicide, then to not go to jail he opted for spending time on a psyward (yeah another movie on a psyward but this one is a drama, not horror... And with cillian murphy), so once there he meets the love of his life, make some friends, party a lot, one of his friends commit suicide, very emotional and interesting movie about real life and the world of a sad and depressed bunch of people.
You know about this one, what you didn't knew is that is based on real life events, and tbh there is a character called randy here, a movie geek, just like myself, even if i never got stabbed in any part of my body, like he did... I don't have to talk a lot about this movie because there isn't a person out there who haven't seen it, and if there is... What are you waiting for?
I have reviewed this one before, is somewhere in my blog, but damn, such a good movie and while this one doesn't seem too real, is about a girl who is in a coma and she is living a second life while in reality she is dying, so in his second life everyone is alive minus his boyfriend, and in reality his boyfriend is the only one alive. Both of their friends are dead, the 2 guys (and a girl) who crashed their car with the main characters car, are dead too, the main girl fighting for survive, a very crazy suspense/horror movie with amazing cast of great actors, i completely suggest it.
A classic of the 90's if you haven't seen it is about a undercover cop returning to his childhood neighborhood to do some undercover job finding an irish mob boss who happens to be the older brother of his childhood best friend and also the big brother of his first girlfriend, which he starts to or tries to date again, a very well done movie, filled with action and romance.
I also have reviewed this one, which is also about real life events. Plus here works one of my fave actors and actress, as you can see... Thora Birch plus the guy who plays thora"s best friend (daniel brocklebank) and a guy who looks a lot like nine inch nails singer tent reznor, and another guy who looks alike the guy who does vision in avengers, plus kiera knightley... the movie is about a girl addicted to the rockstar son (the brunette guy) and wants to spend the weekend with him but things go wrong when he invites his best friend (the blond guy), so she has to invite her blond friend (kiera) because thora's best friend knows about a hidden place and even has a key to a door of that said place which he gives it to thora and she ends up losing the key intentionally to spend a lot of time with the guy she likes, which shows how things turns to shit when they run out of food, people starts to get sick and or dying in horrible ways, just for the main character to blame his best friend for it, to clean her own ass of any guilt... A suspense/drama movie (not perfect for a lockdown situation) but perfect if you want to see a suspense movie.
Crazy movie, about crazy people living in a hotel, can you imagine how that could end up? A guy who believes he is john lennon, a bunch of old people, a native american guy, Bono does a cameo, mila is one of the main characters along with mel gibson (moody cop) and jeremy davis (not the paramore guy) amazing fun loving movie about a bunch of crazy people, tim roth as a secondary character who commits suicide, hence why mel pays a visit to that hotel and the main reason why this movie was made, which u2 and sex pistols soundtrack, things couldn't be better.
And the last movie of my suggestions for this lockdown is another based on real life events, some crazy guy who born to be evil, a murderer, with tilda as the mother and ezra as the son, you can not stop watching this crazy movie, very artistic colors and a real life story makes this movie a serious work of art, i highly suggest you to watch it if you haven't.
Aaron Draplin doesn’t do it for the money. Rather -- as cliché as it might sound -- designing records is something he does for the love of music, plain and simple.
“Here I am, I’m in Northern Michigan and I’m digging through my [parents’] basement and I just found a box of my tapes from high school and I just can’t get rid of them,” Aaron explained. “…I’m looking at these things here and that’s what started me on graphic design -- seeing the liner notes on tapes.”
All Tiny Creatures – Harbors (Courtesy of Aaron Draplin)
And he really does mean tapes. Back in the day, vinyl was just too bulky for his taste, so cassettes were his preference. But as times have changed, so have Aaron’s purchasing habits: cassettes made way for CDs, which, in turn, made way for vinyl. Having now worked on designing records, Aaron has grown an appreciation for the bulk that vinyl brings, so much so that he’s often found himself trying to convince clients to make sure they at least press a limited amount of records.
“A lot of the bands 4 or 5 years ago, they knew they were going to sell 10x more CDs because they were easier to cart around or easier to sell at shows,” Aaron said. “So of course we’re going to make that CD… but I’ve just done this little pep talk so many times where you say: ‘Guys, how many records are you going to make in your life? It’s only going to be about 8 or 9 let’s hope, or even just a couple. But you guys, why don’t you do this? Make it on vinyl, give it a download code, and sell those.”
A prolific designer, Aaron got his start in graphic design working in the snowboard industry. Since then, his company, Draplin Design Co., has built an impressive clientele list featuring everything from Target to Bernie Sanders. Still, record design has been a newer venture in Aaron’s career, albeit one that he took a liking to almost instantly.

“My favorite thing to make is making a record, designing a record for someone,” he said. “There’s only been 10, 11, or 12, but every one has been fun.”
“I like nerding out on how to make the labels, and edges, and bleeds and just all the little things that are probably a pain in the ass,” he said. “The first couple records I learned was [that] you can’t really start at the CD size, you have to start at the record size and work your way down. Just the files even, because you’re making your art big and as you work your way down to those smaller sizes then you scale everything down.”
Much of Aaron’s approach to working on a record cover comes from the music fan within him. As someone who can play guitar “a little bit,” he’s fascinated by the grueling process of recording an album – something he’s never done, but one day hopes to do – and wants to make sure that his visuals mirror the passion and effort that the band put into recording.

“If you’re going to go through the pain and the strife of building this thing, recording this thing, making this object, making this art, make sure it’s got a nice cover.”
It’s that mindset that makes Aaron lament any time he sees a band skimp on the visuals for the record. It doesn’t matter the reason, it’s against his nature, and his goal is to stop it every time he can.
“I’m doing a record for these folks in Portland right now called Diesto, [they’re] a heavy metal band,” he said. “I’ve known this guy for eight or nine years and he comes to me and says, ‘Man, I don’t have any money but will you do our record? I know you’ll care about it.’ And I said, ‘Well, let’s do it!’”
“That’s such a weird thing, it’s like I’m not really concerned about it,” Aaron added. “He’ll give me a stack of them and I’ll give them to buddies and then on top of that, there’s just something about making these things and not wanting it to be… I don’t want it to get worked over because he can’t find someone who will give it the love that it deserves, you know? What a bummer [if] that’s why it didn’t turn out as good as it could turn out, because you couldn’t find somebody.”
Again, it’s the music fan within him that takes over when approached like this – he wants to make sure that the band makes the best record that they can, visuals included.

“That’s an interesting thing because I think everybody else their first reaction is like, ‘Well I’m not going to do it if there’s no money to pay the graphic designer,’ but that’s never really my first reaction,” he said. “…So, I offer myself a lot to that stuff and just I’m really open to just saying ‘This isn’t about the cash -- not even close. This is simply [that] I just want to make cool shit that people are going to enjoy.’”
In some cases, Aaron knows he can use his skills as a designer to not only help fledgling bands, but also as an opportunity to give back to some of the musicians that have meant the most to him.
“There’s a band called Son Volt… and I just want to reach out to Jay [Farrar] and say, ‘Hey, I’ll be your instrument. If you need anything, I can help you -- I won’t charge one penny. But if you need a poster or something done or something designed, I’ll just do it,” he explained. “Because the enjoyment I’ve gotten from their records -- it’s infinite. That’s one of my favorite bands.’”
“It’s a weird angle, like I’m certainly not trying to make a living making records. …I’m totally cool with that, too. Which maybe makes me nuts, I don’t know.”
