What I’ve Done chapter thirteen thoughts, for those interested (but mainly for myself)

*SPOILERS*

The chapters initial working title was Iris (like the Goo Goo Dolls song) i think the song perfectly describes Catra’s feelings on the night of the kiss. But while writing i thought the line where Catra says her mother would love her like this if she was always good was so heavy and it made me so sad i had to put it as the title instead😭.

I wanted the chapter to open on a genuinely soft moment after the abuse took place. Because i think it’s important to explore the fact there was still tenderness between Catra and her mother, and that’s what kept Catra in line, the possibility of receiving that affection again.

I also had to research real people’s experiences with kneeling as a punishment and was very compelled by it. I think it’s definitely important to take into consideration when writing a topic as sensitive as child abuse and corporal punishment the fact real people have experienced this and continue to experience this, and the real life impacts such a thing can have on a person.

The baptism scene is actually the very first scene i ever wrote for this story! Back in like 2021! My initial idea/first draft was very short snippets of their life tied to different songs (Oceans by Hillsong being this specifics scene’s song).

As for that first outline… it was definitely a complete different vibe, Catra and Adora found each other in a convenience store and Catra bought Adora’s groceries. Another funny thing is the fact Adora was actually the one that ran away in that first exchange (which was a fun lil difference i think!)

The fight scene was written as a side scene a few chapters ago when I was thinking about Catra and the anger she had inside of her. I sent it to my beta reader (aka my beautiful gf) and she felt that Catra was defending Adora in her own way. Which made me like it a lot more!

Now James: as i had already written the kiss flashback, i found myself wondering what would make Catra return to her position of power after sharing such a tender moment with Adora. So… I decided James lying about them sleeping together and therefore (in a fucked up way) clearing her name would probably give her the push she needed to return to life as usual.

I didn’t really want to go into too many details when it came to Catra’s worst night, which is why there’s a time skip between the car ride and her reaching adora’s house. But it’s safe to assume she arrived at the house and was punished for being drunk and in a boy’s car so late in the night.

I had already written the rejection long before their kiss in the 12th chapter was written. I had multiple versions of adora’s confession though, one was adora telling catra she loved her and catra interrupting to say she wasn’t ready, the other one was a conversation in bed in which she said she would like to be with someone like adora. The one in the bed was written from Adora’s point of view and in it she was extremely flattered by Catra’s words and understood them as a confession in itself.

I think that scenes central take away when i was writing it wasn’t the fact Catra rejects Adora, but rather the fact Adora understands her, she doesn’t have to be rejected, because she knows Catra’s not ready yet. She initiates the conversation and also gives Catra reassurance about her feelings without even needing to be asked.

Ending thoughts: although it’s one of the saddest chapters i’ve written so far, it’s definitely one of my favorites. And i hope nobody is too upset by the fact Catra rejected Adora!

Reacting To: Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts (Season 3 Episode 10)

This is it people! The series finale of Kipo; Let’s get to it.

Episode Title: Age of Wonderbeasts

Spoiler Warning: Kindly proceed if you’ve already seen the episode or are able to handle spoilers

Hopefully she’s getting dressed for her funeral lol

1. Continuing on from last episode, the fireworks rigged with the cure goes off and a bunch of embers start falling from the sky. One of the Humming Bombers got into contact with one of them while attempting to flee and immediately de-mutes. I thought the cure needed to go into their bloodstream? Unless, the ember actually burned through their skin. It that’s the case, wow that’s dark....

It’s awesome that Earl and Lily are helping Molly since Molly saved their children awhile back. 

2. With her quick thinking, Kipo asks everyone to find shelter underneath her as she transforms into her Mega Jaguar form. However, that’s still not enough to protect everyone but luckily, the good humans step up to shield them with table cloths, which was heartwarming to see. 

The mutes are thanking the humans for their act of kindness

OMG. Lio and Song hugging Scarlemagne? I’m here for it.

3. Thankfully, the fireworks ended and Kipo then pleads with Emilia one last time to stop what she’s doing. Emilia, hard-headed as ever isn’t one to back down at all and makes a drastic decision to inject herself with the mutagen she sourced from the Mega Walrus, transforming herself into one ugly Mega Mute. 

Imagine seeing this in real life...shudders

4. I thought she was going to use the Mega Walrus’s DNA to make another cure that would affect Kipo. I didn’t think she would do this to herself. Kipo transforms back to her Mega form to take on Emilia before she could potentially hurt anyone. 

How many Troyson kisses do we want? Yes...hehe

5. Troy and Benson are directing everyone back to find safety inside the old burrow while Wolf joins Kipo to assist her in battling Emilia. Kipo has the upper hand at first because Emilia isn’t used to being a Mega Mute. However, as the fight progresses, Emilia is starting to get better and is landing some solid hits on Kipo. But I feel like Kipo shouldn’t be losing to Emilia since she has much more experience fighting as a Mega. I guess they want us to feel like the stakes are high.

Man, this fight is actually pretty brutal. Emilia is whooping major jaguar ass here.

6. During the battle, Wolf notices Greta nearby and thinks that she has the cure to turn back Emilia into a human. So, hopefully they can steal the cure from Greta and use it as leverage to get Emilia to stop. They split up with Wolf going after Greta and Kipo continuing to fight off Emilia. 

7. After taking a couple more punches, we see three of the Mega Dogs, the Mega Pigeon and the Mega Beaver heading their way towards the fight, with Jamack, Molly, Hoag, Amy, Zane, Label, Lio, Song, Scarlemagne, Dave, Benson and Mandu riding on them. I stan such supportive friends!

8. They each take turns kicking Emilia’s butt to buy Kipo some time to recover. Side note: It’s so cool that Jamack tells Emilia to do some “soul searching”! That’s literally the same line Kipo used on Jamack in Season 1 when he was an antagonist back then. During all of this, we see Emilia beginning to have some inner turmoil; It looks like she’s starting to lose herself in her current form.

9. We get to round 2 of Wolf vs Greta and it looks like the tables might turn in favor of Wolf but Greta is just too beefy for her to take on. While being held down in a pin, Wolf tries to butter her up with words by telling her that she’s not an idiot and she can think for herself, without the influence of Emilia. She also bribes her with all the pancakes she can eat if she hands over the cure to her and just like that, she agrees to hand it over. It’s so ironic that Greta is one of Emilia’s last followers but she’s so easily influenced to switch sides. 

Again, I don’t get why Kipo is losing to Emilia so badly

10. Kipo is down for the count and Emilia turns her attention to her friends/family. As she’s about to crush Lio and Song, Kipo charges in last minute to take the devastating blow for them; She then falls unconscious. However, Emilia’s not done yet.

Scarlemagne’s death in 3...2...1

11. Oh no...here we go. Scarlemagne decides to play hero by making his attempt at saving Kipo. He basically gives his swan song to Lio and Song. I have a bad feeling he’s going to die and I’m not at all prepared to watch. He takes off on his favorite Flamingo vehicle from Season 1 and 2 and flies towards Emilia to distract her.

We haven’t heard this laugh in ages. Also, did anyone get chills when he tells Emilia to “leave her sister alone”?

12. He crashes his vehicle into Emilia causing her to lose focus and it sets off her ‘losing herself to the mega mute’ phase. This in turn, causes Scarlemagne to crash land somewhere in Skyscraper Ridge. Was it necessary for him to crash like that? If that’s the way he goes out, I’m gonna be honest here and say I would be very disappointed with that. 

13. Emilia, who clearly is out of it runs off somewhere and Kipo, Wolf, Dave, Benson and Mandu all go after her with Lio and Song heading towards where Hugo/Scarlemagne crash landed. We then see the artistic representation of Emilia losing her mind to the mute, where her human form is quickly sinking deeper and deeper into the ocean. 

14. They catch up to Emilia and they could see her being distraught. We also know the reason why she’s this way and it’s because she doesn’t have an anchor. I love it how whatever explanation we’re being told by the characters is something that the audience should know based on past episodes. Now that’s good storytelling. 

15. Anyways, Kipo makes the decision to cure her because she thinks she doesn’t deserve to be punished this way. Really now? After all that she’s done? Maybe what Kipo means is that she deserves get whopped in her human form lol. After curing her, Kipo makes ANOTHER ATTEMPT (for the 3rd time) to convince her to make a change but of course this bitch isn’t going to change; She takes a shard of glass and tries to stab Kipo:

16. But our girl, Mandu quickly reacts and bites Emilia’s arm. She then loses her balance and falls stories high in the exact burrow her lab was located because we then see Fun Gus capturing her and taking her in as her “playdate”. Emilia is basically history. 

17. Yesss! And this punishment is fitting since she will probably be Fun Gus’s plaything till she goes insane and dies. Not to mention she despises mutes. So, it’s a great way for her to go out. Bye!!! That’s what you get for killing your brother, you heartless monster. Can I also point out that once again, Mandu is the one to take out Emilia. She did beat her in season 2 when Wolf, Dave and Benson couldn’t and now in season 3, she’s the one to finish the job. Don’t mess with Mandu lol. 

18. They head back to find where Scarlemagne, Lio and Song are but it’s almost too late because Hugo is dying. Kipo is in tears and I’m in tears too. Again, was it really necessary to kill him off? I felt like he’s more or less already redeemed as a character before this. He didn’t have to commit such a heroic act, which had cost his life. Ugh....And just like that, Hugo dies.....UGHHHHHH. I really don’t think he needed to die. If Catra (who committed just as many heinous acts, if not more than Hugo) got to live in She-Ra & The Princesses of Power, Hugo deserves to live too. I’m sorry...

19. Now it’s time for the epilogue set 5 years later, as told by an older Kipo. Let’s break it down:

Wolf’s Mega Corgi gave birth to a litter of puppies. Awww cuteness...

Wolf let her hair grow out and she looks AMAZING!!! Dayummmm

Benson and Troy own a successful restaurant together and they’re living the dream. Such domestic goals!

I got chills seeing Wolf and Benson walking side by side like that. They’ve grown up so much. It looks like they’re own their way to a picnic

Label and Zane is also running a gym together. Sweet!

Jamack is conductor for Las Vistas’s new transport system. 

Dave is now a guest lecturer at what is seems to be Lio and Song’s new research lab, where he talks about some of his research findings and theories. Well, mostly theories.

I love Kipo’s new do’

20. We find out that Kipo is updating Hugo (spiritually) what has everybody been up to on his birthday. 

Hugo gets a statue made in his honor, which is very fitting and Mandu...WOW MANDU has grown into an ADULT boar, with tusks and everything just like Bornak and Webber. 

21. Kipo meets up with her besties and her family and they have their wonderful picnic in commemoration of Hugo’s birthday. 

22. The scene cuts off to all of them having the time of their life riding on their Mega mutes. And that’s the official ending to the series. TEARS...

23. This has been an amazing show to watch, react and review. I can’t believe it only had 30 episodes but the story was so cohesive and felt complete on the most part. So you could say that this show wrapped up nicely. There are some loose ends that weren’t addressed/resolved at the end like the vaccine that Song and Lio were working on but I guess that could be something that’s explored further in future films hopefully. 

24. I can’t wait for all of you to watch them. And finally, I want to thank you all for reading my episodic reviews and going on this incredible journey with me. Her eyes darted over the table adora pointed at , then Back at Her , and when she was about to answer , she got cut off by the loud voice of glimmer.

That girl was loud too, but What really bothered catra was the fact that she noticed a ocean blue-haired girl come over. She tried to stay calm but couldn't hold Back a sigh and Her ears flatening again.

Just go Back to work. Whatever is happening is none of your business.

However , when mermista played so touchy and possessive on the jock , she couldn't stop herself from acting worked up as she filled up Her chest, brought Her chin up and stood straight , grabbing a glass and almost slamming it on the counter with a Can of beer someone requested. " Sorry for the wait sir " she snapped coldly. Not that she had anything against that Guy, but she felt rage build up Her stomach.

She Wasn't happy about this. About how adora asked to see Her , probably not to get to know Her as a friend , and still played with another girl.

Not that catra wanted anything to happen, but she did let herself get vulnerable over someone who really just seemed to be a player.

But catra Wasn't going to be the gentle little sheep that girl probably wanted Her to be. And if she had to put Her Back in place...she would. But just thinking about needing to do that, made Her stomach ache.

Later that night , rogelio asked catra to bring drinks and food to two of the tables, a quite loud group of people. They were reaching that Time when families went Back to their cottage , and youngsters who started to drink a little too much stayed.

She had trays in both hands , making Her way to the said table where were sitting 3 young men , who probably drank a little too much. She laid one of the trays on their table to Access the drinks , giving them their order. And she couldn't help but glance over the table beside them. Especially when she had to bring the drinks to them.

They were drinking a lot . How could adora Ask Her to meet After Her shift , but allow herself so many drinks ? She took a deep breathe , and stood in front of them, Her tail swaying in annoyance. She was irritated .

" Who ordered What here " she asked as she grabbed one of the drinks , waiting for a clue of who she was supposed to hand it to.

The band started jamming a few minutes after everybody got their last round of drinks, starting with some mellow tunes to get everybody in a calm mood for the night. The lead singer’s voice was alluring and soothing, it tugged at the blonde’s heart and nipped at her memories making her somewhat blue, while her friends were still enjoying the night’s festivities.

The cymbal sounds started echoing the hall, accompanied by a repetitive bass tone of the drums. Adora glanced towards the stage, letting herself be captured by the music. One of the band members making a reprise on the down tunes

A lingering sweet piano tune accompanied the bass sounds making the composition switch gears into what seemed a not so happy tune after all.

Mermista rested her hand on top of the jock’s thigh, her fingers playing with the seams of her ripped jeans, signaling that she was listening to the song too, even though her eyes were very occupied lying to her sweet fool of a boyfriend.

The singer moved her hips to the rhythm of the song, holding her microphone on the right hand. If Adora wasn’t too occupied losing herself to the song she could’ve fell prey to the woman’s looks. Tight black dress, golden heels, her hair pulled together in a pinup style. Looks that could kill and a voice rough on the edges that seemed to scrap the surface of her own feelings.

The woman stepped down from the stage, turning her steps towards her crowd, mingling amongst them, smiling and tossing her head to the side, smoldering eyes bashing against blue naïve ones. She winked at Adora during the last part of the verse, knowing all too well that she was feeling the lyrics of her song.

The chorus repeated itself one more time and Adora could only lay eyes on the bartender girl, feeling anxious as she saw her getting closer to the table next to theirs. The guys from the other party were even more loud and obnoxious, she caught the glint in their eyes, scanning Catra’s body hungrily. A hint of anger and jealousy crept to her eyes wanting to leave her seat just to hand them their own ass for even daring looking at her so lividly.

She took Mermista’s hand from her thigh, feeling sick from the touch all of the sudden. As soon as Catra reached their table asking (a little bit rough on the sides) what drinks belonged to whom, she took her phone out scribbling part of the song and sending an IM with the lyrics to her.

Bow took their drinks, one whiskey shot for the jock, one bubblegum vodka for Glimmer and some jugs of beer for the rest of the party. Adora gulped down the liquid, feeling a bit dizzy but not totally wasted, she did want to wait for her shift to end and just …talk, get to know her. She was so captivating and Adora couldn’t help but to stare openly at her.

1. My take on their canon relationship:

Mermista: Is kinda mean, kinda goofy, kind of doesn’t care about other people all that much

Catra: is kinda mean, kinda goofy, kinda doesn’t care about other people all that much. 

They don’t really interact in canon, which is why I have two unrelated screenshots instead of one clip when they’re interacting, but the two are rather similar, from my interpretation. And let me be clear, when I say they “don’t care about others all that much” I don’t mean they don’t care, I just mean that they have circles of “my people” and “not my people” and while they care VERY STRONGLY and VERY PASSIONATELY about EVERYONE in the “my people” bubble, anyone outside of it is… well… why should they care? Mermista’s introduction to us is her telling Glimmer “Bright Moon hasn’t done anything to help us, why should we help them?” and Catra’s got this whole thing about treating the auxiliary Horde soldiers like they’re disposable canon fodder to get what she wants. Obv those two are not equal examples but they stem from the same place of apathy. Meanwhile, people like Adora and (though she doesn’t show or even realize it until it’s too late) Scorpia get Catra’s fierce affection and attention, just, like, warped by Horde-rearing and SW’s mindfucking, and people like Sea Hawk and the country of Salenias get Mermista’s begrudging affection and protective devotion; plus her line when Glimmer and Bow were kidnapped was “They took one of our own,” indicating that it was Mermista’s attachment to them, not any intrinsic righteousness, that prompted her to help rescue them.

3. Reasons why I do/don’t ship them;

I mentioned that they’re similar in terms of “mine” and “not mine,” but they’re similar in other ways too. They’re both characters who, you get so used to them being bitchy and put upon, you don’t expect their goofier side when it comes out. Catra’s spazz reaction to mice, the way she pounces on Adora and steals her belongings, or tugs on her ponytail and asks if she’s brain damaged, these are all things that endear us to her, show us her sillier side before everything goes to hell in her mental sphere, and we see glimpses of it again in the “perfect” portal reality. Mermista, who loves dnd roleplaying and mystery novels, plus acts both her rp character and said novels out in real life. Yes, one is trying hard to be Evil Overlord 2.0 and yes, one is a Queen with a Reputation To Uphold, but they’re also goofs. 

Plus, they don’t really have friends like each other until DT comes around, and Mermista is still kinda in the lurch. All the princesses are great, they’re varied, they cover the full expanse of human emotion, but none of them really hit that “cool older sister from a 90′s sitcom” vibe that Mermista’s riding, Sea Hawk least of all. Catra gets to hang out with DT and have a petty cold hard bitch for a friend, but that, yknow, blows up. I would still love to see the three of them just, like, being petty gossipy buddies, though, hanging out and acting cooler than everyone else. I also think it would be fun if Mermista and Catra kissed.

Because I think that, in a world where Catra isn’t spiraling badly, Catra would really admire Mermista. Sort of a “You’re the only one in this room that I respect” kind of admiration, where Mermista isn’t all sparkles and glitter and flowers, but a rock and roll kind of gal. Catra would like that. And I think Mermista would be fond of Catra, first because she’s a break from all the over the top energy and theatrics Sea Hawk and the other princesses embody, and because Catra’s absolutely the devil on her shoulder encouraging her to indulge in minor acts of destruction and havoc. Mermista likes fighting, she likes clubbing soldiers with her trident and then flinging them into the ocean, there’s no reason to assume she would not also like stealing a skiff and causing a night of reckless nuisance to some unsuspecting town. Just a little.

4. Headcanon, if any:

Catra getting a crush on Mermista would absolutely mellow out her behaviors. Mermista’s so cool and performatively apathetic, Catra would feel the need to reign it in and chill out in order to impress her/show they’re on the same page. Mermista’s behaviors, meanwhile, would amp up, going along with Catra’s desire to make a menace out of herself, knocking over mailboxes and scattering plastic spoons over athletic fields and whatnot.

Also PLEASE imagine Mermista being the one to give Catra a leather jacket because That Was A Look and the two can absolutely be rock n roll together.

Phobia for the She Ra kids ask.

I might be cheating a bit here, since technically phobias are supposed to be irrational fears, but I’m just going to go with whatever they fear the most. 

Baylea: Their biggest fear is definitely fire, due to the fact that they are literally a plant, and are therefore extremely vulnerable to flames. They don’t freak out when there’s a fire anywhere in the area, but they aren’t likely to get too close, just to be safe. 

Cane: He is very much afraid of heights, and of flying, though he doesn’t discover his fear of actually flying until after he’s been taken in by Adora and Catra - and met Swift Wind not long after. Despite already knowing he wasn’t a fan of heights, he didn’t want to be rude and refuse when Swift Wind offered him a ride…and he quickly realized that he hated flying just as much as he hates being high up in general. He will fly in things like a ship or skiff when needed, but will spend the entire time clinging to the most sturdy thing he can find for dear life.

Pearl: Not that she’ll admit it’s a fear, but Pearl really does not like being in crowded places, especially with strangers. She’ll…tolerate it when she has to, but let’s just say that the only reason she tends to go to a lot of the parties she attends is because her actual friends are usually there. Even then, she’ll usually just hang around them, and be more than happy to leave once she figures it’s “acceptable” to do so. 

Michelle: She actually has a few, which border on full on triggers, rather than “just” phobias, though they only come up in early adulthood. Being physically restrained makes her panic if it goes on for too long - even if it’s something like a hug. And, due to part of what she went through in the Horde when she was captive, she developed a fear of the dark and of silence. She legitimately cannot take being in a dark place or having no auditory stimuli without risking having some form of panic attack. Michelle’s biggest fear, however, and one she’s had since she was a young child, is feeling like she’s a failure or a disappointment, especially to her family. 

Ari: She is absolutely terrified of being trapped, or just being in situations where she feels trapped, like if she’s in a small room and is unable to immediately find a way out of it. Just being in a tight situation can make her feel very uncomfortable, and the more cramped the space, the worse she’s going to feel. To sum it up, she’s basically claustrophobic. 

Nebula: Nebula has a fear of water, though specifically of large bodies of water, like rivers, lakes, or oceans. She’s not so much afraid to be near them, but is afraid of the idea of going in them - not because she’s afraid of drowning (because she doesn’t actually breathe, meaning there would be no threat of drowning in the first place), but because she doesn’t want to risk getting essentially frozen. Entrapta worked hard to make Nebula’s systems as close to perfect as she could, and for the most part, she was successful. However, one issue she was not able to fully figure out before getting Nebula activated was the fact that, if too much water gets inside of her, the android has the risk - small, but still there - to essentially lock up and be unable to move until she’s had the water removed from inside of her.

Verdict

You thought I was done? Well so did I. But a few nice comments paired with a couple more ideas bouncing around leads to a second chapter. Although that means this story is off the rails now. No schedule. No definitive endpoint. Total mess. 

Part 1

Finally. The day was finally here. After a long, unpleasant interrogation lasting a whole week, at a few points in which the Queen herself had come to question her (where at one point, Catra had straight up said “Look your shininess, I’m pretty sure the things I know are all that’s keeping me alive. So forgive me for not spilling it all for you day one.” Catra was pretty sure that if the Queen wasn’t around to physically restrain her, Glimmer would have jumped over the table and gone for her throat right then and there.), the sentencing day had finally come. It was also the first time she had seen Entrapta and Scorpia since they got here. Entrapta was wearing heavy cuffs that covered her whole hand, and a special type of restraints around her hair braids. Catra was 95 percent sure she could escape anyway. Scorpia had even heavier cuffs on, extending up her entire forearm, as well as leg chains and a cover over her pointed tail. She could have easily snapped through the leg bindings and probably gotten through the cuffs in a few good swings. Catra, it seemed, was the only one properly restrained. She felt a little smug they had gone all out for her, giving her a full body stasis pad. She wiggled around a little more, to see if it was still running at full power. And it was, making her feel like she was trapped in an invisible cast of her body. As Catra was pushed along down the aisle toward the Queen’s throne, Entrapta spied her and exclaimed “Oh I made that!” Catra sighed as the guard exchanged nervous glances. “You really just love making this harder on me then it already is, don’t you?”

“What do you mean?” Entrapta asked before the guards pushed her forward a few paces, and when they got to the throne, moved her way off to the right, away from all the technology she had no doubt invented. “Ooooh. I GET IT NOW!” She shouted over to Catra, who sighed again and attempted to put her head in her hands. Lesser of two evils. Lesser of two evils. she chanted to herself as her stasis disk was dropped down in front of the Queen.

“Catra, Scorpia, and Entrapta. After a week of gathering information,” interrogating “I have reached my decision.”

“Wait, just you? Don’t we get, like, a trial by our peers?” Catra interrupted.

“Do you want one?” Queen Angella asked her cooly. Looking around the room, Catra saw the looks on everyone’s faces that ranged from mild interest (Mermista) to barely contained hostility (Glimmer), and reconsidered. “Can I have a trial by Adora?” Adora, standing between her and Scorpia, couldn’t stop a quiet snort from escaping her nose, but her face remained as serious as ever.

“No. Now, as I was saying, I have reached my decision. You defected willingly, which removes the possibility of execution.” Catra tried not to think too hard about that sentence. “However, over the past year, you have caused severe damage and threat to my people. As such, you have been sentenced...to…” the Queen trailed off, staring out over Catra’s head.

Catra narrowed her eyes in confusion. “What, am I supposed to ask wha-” was as far as she got before the doors blew in behind her and the hall descended into chaos. Adora grabbed Catra and Scorpia and dragged them behind one of the columns off to the side as blasters began firing down the aisle.

“TRAITORS!” Someone screamed, and Adora looked at Catra. “Was that Lonnie?” Catra rolled her eyes. “Yes it was. She hasn’t gotten any easier to deal with.” Before Adora could stop her, Scorpia poked her head around the corner. “Hi Lonnie!” Adora quickly dragged her back as a laser burned past her ear and a furious howl followed shortly after. “Maybe we don’t do that,” Adora said, and Scorpia nodded back.

“How did they get in here?” The Queen shouted over the noise.

“Maybe it’s because you removed all of your strongest fighters from defending the perimeter and put them all in this room!” Catra shouted back. “You can’t expect your guards to beat these nerds! They don’t even have names!”

“Of course our guards have names!” Glimmer shouted at her from behind a neighboring column.

“Coulda fooled me,” Catra muttered to herself before raising her voice. “Hey, which traitors are you here for exactly?”

“I’ll kill you Catra!”

“Got it,” Catra called back. Shifting her eyes to Adora, she asked “Hey Adora. Could you maybe let me go so I can keep myself from getting shot in the face?”

“Don’t you dare!” Glimmer shouted.

Adora thought hard, and came up with her answer. “What was going to be your verdict, your Majesty?”

“Really? Now?”

“Yes now!”

“I was GOING to say five years imprisoned, with parole offered based on aid against the Horde!”

“Excellent!” Adora replied, before pushing a button on the stasis pad and freeing Catra. “You can start now. Aid us in removing the Horde from this castle.”

“Holy crap,” Catra sighed as she slumped down onto the floor. “That was incredibly exhausting. Why do your floors have to be so hard?”

“You could invest in a pair of shoes you know.” Glimmer shot back, although most of the malice in her voice was replaced by exhaustion as well.

“You try finding boots that don’t get shredded from the inside out with claws like mine.”

“Girls, girls. You’re both pretty.” Adora dropped down between the two. “Can we save this conversation for another day though? I’m ready for a bath and a ten-hour nap.”

“A huh?” Catra asked.

“It’s like a shower, but you’re laying down and do like one-eighth of the work.”

“Hhhmm. Don’t know. We’ll see.”

The invaders had been chased out of the castle easily enough, but they had chased them out into four entire platoons of well-armed soldiers. And then that became a whole afternoon.

“Not so fast.” stated a commanding voice from their side. Turning, Queen Angella was looking down at the three of them.

“How does she look like that?” Catra stage-whispered to Adora (and a lesser extent Glimmer). “We just fought a five-hour battle and she looks like she just got finished putting on her make-up. What gives?”

“Flattery will get you nowhere, Catra.” The Queen cut in, and Catra wasn’t sure how to interpret the sound of her name in the Queen’s mouth. “You’re still on trial.”

“STILL?”

“Yes, still.” The Queen responded with the note of finality only raising a young, rebellious Glimmer could have taught her. Catra clamped her mouth shut.

“Your sentence remains the same. However, your assistance in today’s battle has earned you a few...luxuries. Like a better bed. And a supervised bath.”

“I’ll take it.” Catra agreed, before slowly getting to her feet. “Literally. I’ll take it right now. Can so- Wait what about supervised?”

“Well, we can’t leave you alone for too long. You are still a prisoner.”

“Someone is going to watch me bathe?”

“Well I thought you and Adora had-”

“ADORA?”

“ME?”

“Well, if you would prefer I could ask Mermista or Perfuma to-”

“No! No thank you!” Catra, already flushed, turned a deep shade of crimson and waved her hands in front of her face.

“Excellent. Now, I recommend you wash up and get some rest. You had a big day today.” With that, Queen Angella flew away. The pair turned to the rest of the gang, who all got the hell out of there as soon as possible. Glimmer teleported away, Bow hitching a ride. Frosta and Perfuma rode waves of plants or ice respectively, Mermista jumped into the ocean, dragging Sea Hawk with her.

“Sorry boss!” Scorpia called before dead sprint running. Entrapta hopped on top of Emily and gave the pair a smile and wave before riding away. Soon it was just the two of them.

“So…”

P.S. Just for anyone who’s curious, if this story continues on it will NOT stray into R-rated territory. I don’t write that kind of stuff.

SPOP pokemon team thoughts

Adora: I feel half her pokemon should appear “pretty/noble” , the other half should be unlucky/misunderstood. Like an absol and a psyduck as part of team.

I feel one or two archeology pokemon would suit Bow as reference to his dads, implying they were passed down to him. Unevolved to show doesn’t use much, evolves after his reconcilliation with them.

Entrapta would also likely have a golett or other archeology mechanical pokemon given her love of First One’s tech

Catra would probably want one at least Heavy Hitter pokemon on her team, she really likes tanks and flamethrowers. Everyone I see gives her teams that are just sneaky, but she really loves controlling power.

Perfuma : Vines and thorns are her motif in the show.

I honestly would expect a team for Sea Hawk to be based around “Adventure!” rather than just the ocean. Like a few to carry him to safety or ride recklessly. Maybe a Porygon he rescued from a lab that’s new prime directive is “keep Seahawk from killing himself”, as they are very adaptable and can survive in a wide range of environments.
