hi!!! im your cc secret santa :) im so excited to start making your gift! i wanted to ask who are some of your favorite characters and favorite songs/music artists? hope you’re having a good day! 💓

hey, santa! i’m excited, too! i hope december has been treating you well so far 🫶🏼

overall, i’m more tv than film person, and majority of my favourite characters are from tv shows: blair waldorf (gossip girl), diane lockhart (the good wife; i’m ashamed to admit i still haven’t seen the good fight), elizabeth jennings (the americans), rosa diaz (b99), rebecca welton and roy kent (ted lasso). i loved (as a pair and separately) marisa coulter and lord asriel from his dark materials ever since i was 11 years old. lastly, not to bee too dramatic but i would give away my kidney for succession’s roy siblings.

when it comes to music, i listen to a lot of taylor swift, florence + the machine, the national, fleetwood mac, hozier, beyoncé, recently discovered tamino. his dark materials final season started airing this week, so ever since tuesday marisa x asriel have induced the biggest brainrot imaginable, so i haven’t been able to listen to anything but ts 🤡

but honestly, my character/ music choices should not limit you. do whatever inspires YOU! for my gift, i’d first and foremost like it to be something we both enjoy 😉

I firstly just want to point out that this paragraph “I do love a tragic romance. I love a queer tragic romance. I need my characters to be absolutely crazy in love and making bad decisions because of it. Mutual pining!  Anything Jane Eyre 2006 also works (because Ruth Wilson AND Toby Stephens).” was so real, you have amazing taste and I have major respect for people who like heartbreak 👀 

you make points about how typography is used in a gifset and I find myself agreeing - it can be beautiful but sometimes even I reblog things without reading what’s on them just because it’s too hard to make out, which probably takes away from the purpose of there being text on the gifset? but such is the medium we’re working with I guess!

true that gifmaking puts you in touch with your more creative side; as someone who loved to engage with artsy stuff when I was younger I’m glad I have this small little hobby to keep in practice. I'm very happy you can come back to it too after such tedious and important work ✨

anyway, I have some more ‘out of interest’ Q’s for you! Is there anything you’re looking forward to doing/seeing this month? Any pressing opinions you currently have? Thoughts on coming to the end of this year?

Hello again. Heartbreak is like the best icecream in my book. Better when they do eventually get it together, much to be said for happy endings too.

Gif has it's limits, for sure. But where else do you get to shape and bend time and colour and tell story and change reality all at the same time? It is a great hobby because you get to look at things a different way, an artistic way that we aren't really afforded in most contexts you know? Really high barrier to art, but gif, sort out your process and it just... gives. Creativity is so important to living well, too.

I agree with you though it can be beautiful, after all that I have seen some amazing examples where the text draws your eye in just the right way and it's a smooth read.

Onto your questions. Do you mean on the gif front or otherwise? I do love seeing what people have come up with for the end of year sets, like the summary gifsets.

Generally I'm looking forward to going to see friends after christmas and for the new year. There's some end of the year summer holidays too over December and January and not being at work, which is great. Hanging out for those to be honest. Every year I think it's been a tough year, but it really is like that for everyone I think over the last few pandemic ones, for sure. What about you?

Ooh those are all good picks! I would definitely want to be friends with Halsey too! I feel like two of my picks might give away who I am lol. Two others that might hint but not give me away would be Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus. Taylor seems so chill and Miley feels like so much fun and someone who might get me to be a little more courageous lol - ccss22

hello friends! i did one of these last year which was a success so i thought why not keep it going! welcome to ccss2022  ❄️

this is a multi-fandom gift exchange open to everyone who considers themselves a visual content creator on tumblr, which means you can contribute gifsets, graphics, edits, fanvideos, fanart, icons etc. 

how it works:

1. fill out this google form so i know who’s participating. the form will stay open until wednesday, november 30.

2. once the form closes and i have everyone’s names, i’ll use an online generator (DrawNames) for the drawing of the names. on december 1 i’ll email everyone a link to join the ccss2022 group and draw a name. while i’ll be making another post when that takes place, please do your best to remember the date! and don’t forget to keep the name a secret.

3. from december 2, you’ll be able to start working on your gift. take a look around your giftee’s blog to get an idea of what they’d like, and if you want, you can get to know them (and their interests) better by sending them asks on anon mode. make sure your inbox is open and the anonymous feature is turned on so that this can work! the frequency of the asks is up to you, but it’s always nice to gain a friend in the person you’re making your gift for :)

4. from december 24 until december 26, you can start posting your gifts. make sure to @ the person your gift is for in the caption, and tag your post with #ccss2022 so that i can find and reblog it! i urge everyone participating to follow this tag as well so we can all see the wonderful gifts that have been made <3

important: please only join if you know you’ll be able to make a gift for another person. you can let me know by the time sign ups close (november 30) if you want to pull out, but after that i won’t be able to switch around names. of course emergencies happen, so i’ll have a plan if that is ever the case!
