🥣 anons back! (Did I submit an ask for both of your accounts? Maybe.) SO we all know that scene where Sky is playing his harp because he misses Zelda, so assuming he would do the same for reader when he misses them, how would the rest of the boys cope with missing their dear, sweet reader?

Okay okay okay— Sky with the harp. Playing songs that his partner always used to request from him. Songs that they love. Yes. 100%.

Four, I think, would hold onto something physical of his partner’s. Keeping a little trinket of some sort that they made for him, or wrote, or drew. Loves reading it every night if it’s a writing, or memorising every detail of it if it’s a drawing. If it’s a physical trinket, he will 100% hold it in his sleep. He once physically slapped Wars when the captain tried to take it, and since then, no one has gone anywhere near his bag.

Time, I think, would pick flowers. No one ever remarks on it, nor do they ever try to ask him what he’s doing. They tried, once, but never managed to will up the courage to do it when they saw the sad look in his eyes. When his longing for his partner is really bad, he will carry the flower as they walk, and will literally get sad if he loses it. Then, proceeds to find another one. It’s the only time they ever really see him as the child hero he once was, because the way he picks flowers, looking for them even, is just so soft and small that they often find it hard to believe that this is their Old Man.

Legend wouldn’t do much, I think. At least, not so obviously. He strikes me as the kind to just stare up at the sky, or over the land, or out across the sea. Just staring out, hoping that, in whatever timeline his partner was in or where he’d left them, that they were looking out over the same view as he was. He hates the feeling of missing people, thanks to Koholint, but the feeling of missing his partner back home is an oddly nostalgic, sweet feeling. If the day is particularly bad, he��ll draw in the dirt, or mud, or sand.

Twilight, in my mind, would try to just distract himself in nature. In whatever way he can. Though, if it’s dark, he will find or make a source of light. Man cannot be in the dark if he’s missing his partner, because it sends his mind down a spiralling path of whether or not he’ll see them again. It only got worse after he’d gotten wounded by the Shadow. Most days/nights when he misses his partner, he will stare into the light, or look up at the sky.

Hyrule, when he misses his partner, will make an attempt to be as close to any member of the group as he can. Unlike the others, he likes the comfort of being near another person, and finding comfort in their company. He won’t be clingy or anything like that, but he will remain close to someone. His favourites to be around are Wild and Four, surprisingly enough, when he misses his partner. He finds joy in being able to talk and laugh with them, to somewhat fill the void of his partner’s absence from his side.

Wind, I think, would clutch something on his own person. Either his sister’s telescope, or maybe the fairy pendant, or even just twisting his hands. It doesn’t help much, but if he tries hard enough, he can kinda imagine that it’s his partner’s hand he’s holding, or maybe his partner’s curious examination of his things. He relies mostly on his thoughts and memories to soothe his longing, though the things that helps most is to just sit on the beach, under the sun, if they’re close enough to one for him to be able to do so.

Warriors’ habits when he misses his partner, are to forgo maintaining himself. It’s a jarring and odd sight for the rest of the boys, for sure, when the day or days come when Wars walks around with his hair disheveled from sleep, or his shirt untucked, or wearing his scarf lopsided or haphazardly. It was so weird the first time. But as it happens a bit more often, he actually willingly explains that it is because he misses his partner. That also surprises them, and understandably so. He explains that his partner would oftentimes help him in the morning, when he was too tired to do so himself. Combing his hair back, or fixing his collar, or adjusting his scarf. No one says anything more on the matter…though sometimes they’ll help him by fixing his scarf, or collar for him. They leave the hair, though.

Finally, as for when Wild misses his partner, he will be, on those particular days, calm. If he’s reckless and headstrong with his brothers, then he’s even worse with his partner back home. Though when he finds that he misses them, he will take it back a level, or three. Because he wants to make sure, more so on those days than on any other, that he can make it back to them alive. Or, when it’s already a calm day, he’ll make their favourite food for dinner. Or a special dessert.

hii i'm so fascinated with the anthro dog worldbuilding and had a question about it !!! if domesticated canines exist in the world, do undomesticated canines (wolves, foxes, coyotes, maned wolves, etc) also exist? if so, what role do they play in society? ^_^

Domestic dogs are the only anthropomorphic species, they exist in place of humans.

Wild canines exist, but they're just regular wolves, foxes, coyotes and so on. Anthro dogs view them the same way humans view apes and other primates. They recognize that wolves are superficially similar to them in some uncanny ways, but have no gualms about hunting them. To a dog living in the pre-Darwin era, a wolf isn't a distant relative, it's a wild beast that will eat their livestock.

Actual pet dogs are entirely absent.

Other domesticated animals exist as normal. Anthro dogs keep cats as pets, raise chickens and ride horses.

She was just outside Sanctuaries wall, the footsteps of meandering gaurds reaching all the way to the bottom.

There's also a figure, sitting up an a roof, lit only by a flickering lantern, a cooler next to them.

Because, let’s be real, the Chain was prepared to be the ones hoarding Reader, protecting them, pulling them close and never letting go. I mean the guys were already envisioning the rest of their lives with Reader!

But instead of them trying to pretend to be normal in their feelings, Reader is the one chasing them?

I bet they didn’t expect Reader to be the one gripping their hands too tight.

Or be the one glaring when someone else gets too close.

Especially not be the one whispering that they belong to them.

They wouldn’t know what to do with this information.

But they’d certainly wouldn’t even try to resist. (To have their love be returned ten-fold? That is what they so desperately wanted after all.)

They absolutely thrive on their attention.

Reader just as clingy, just as territorial, just as devoted as they are.

They mirror the chain’s possessiveness right back at them.

And the guys love it.

So much.

Like, the first time Reader yanks one of them away from someone else?

Watching them look away and say how they didn’t like how that person looked at them.

Oh. Oh, it’s over.

The look in their eyes, the sheer jealousy?

The guys are so weak for it.

Time - wouldn’t expect this. (Obviously) He was supposed to be their protector. The one watching over them, keeping them safe, keeping others away.

But instead, he lets Reader grip his wrist and drag him away. (If Reader is a short one, it’s also look comical)

Enjoy how he’s the one who is pulled back and blocked from giving his attention to anyone else.

He doesn’t fight it. He doesn’t even pretend to.

He’s smiling as his grip tightens over their’s.

Twilight - The second Reader starts mirroring his behavior, he stares. Just… stares.

As they keep him close.

As they watch over him.

As they cling to him just as much as he clings to them.

As they fawn over him to Wolfie and sighs like a lovelorn fool (Oh but he’d find the quickest moment to change back just so he could enjoy as Reader’s expression brightens as they rush over and tightly wrap their around around him.)

Oh. Oh, he is done for.

Legend - He’s flustered. He’s so flustered. He doesn’t know how to handle it. (His face is pinker than his Rabbit Fur)

Reader won’t let him push them away.

They just as possessive as he is.

They’d glare when someone else gets too close to him.

He’s staring. He’s stammering. He’s malfunctioning.

He doesn’t even know how to process this.

(He loves it. Loves the mischievous smile Reader gets even when he can’t form a sentence without a flustered stammer)

Four - Oh, he sees it.

The way they pull him back.

The way they grip his sleeve.

The way they refuse to let anyone else take up his time.

He sees it all and he is thriving.

(And if his colors get so much more attention, so much more affection and maybe even kisses? Well he’s not gonna tell the others.)

Sky - He melts. Immediately. Completely. No hesitation.

Them keeping him close?

Them pulling him into their arms?

Reader whispering that he’s their’s?

Oh. Oh, he is never leaving.

He doesn’t even try to hide how much he loves it.

He is the happiest he’s ever been.

He’ll play on his harp for hours if Reader ever asked him. Drop everything at their every request. (And any note he receives from them is considered an absolute pleasure to keep. As a small box he keeps them in and absolutely hates when others try to open it. It’s HIS after all.)

Wind - He’s scarily intelligent. And scarily possessive. And he loves this.

He notices everything.

The way Reader sticks to his side when they are in town together. (Or close to one another in any way.)

The way they refuse to let him out of their sight when another person is trying to speak to him.

The way their fingers twitch when someone else gets a bit too close.

He loves every second of it. Tells them straight up how cute he finds it.

(It’s not cute. It’s terrifying. He thrives on it.)

Hyrule - Oh. Oh, he hides his own possessiveness well. But this? This is making it harder to keep hidden.

Because he desperately wants Reader to see him as a hero worthy of being in their presence. To be seen as reliable and worthy of their heart.

To even be granted the chance to kneel before them and declare himself theirs. (Funny that he’s already all that and worth so much more to Reader)

Reader is obsessed with him already.

Already keeping him close.

Already whispering that he belongs to them.

He is. He does. He always has been worthy of Reader’s love. The moment he made his feeling even the slightest bit clear to them, Reader held on tight and was never gonna let go.

He keeps his expression casual despite their actions. Like it doesn’t affect him.

But inside?

He is unraveling.

Burning up in the best ways possible.

Warriors - Oh. Oh.

He was always going to have Reader. They just made it easier.

They’re just as obsessed? Just as possessive? Just as devoted?

Then there is no reason for him to ever hold back.

None of his former duties and responsibilities mattered to him now.

What matters is Reader.

And they are his. (And he is theirs)

He doesn’t have to strategize, manipulate, convince.

Because They already want him.

They already belong to him. (Just as he always belonged to them)

He is so happy. So terrifyingly happy.

Wild - He was already gone for them. He thought that was obvious.

But Reader?

just as gone for him?

Just as obsessed with him too?

Oh. Oh, he might actually collapse.

He has hearts floating around his head like he’s been hit with a status effect.

He can’t even process it.

He shouldn’t be questioning this. He should be grinning, spinning them around, reveling in the fact that they are just as bad as he is.

But he’s doubting, always wondering if he’s doing enough, if he’s enough.

Even when Reader is clinging to him like he’s the only person in the world.

Even when they are looking at him with those lovesick eyes.

He still can’t believe it.

But oh, spirits, he wants to.

So badly.

Anything he’d try to say is cut off when Reader squeezes his hand tightly. His breath stuttering when they whisper that of course it’s him, that it’s always been him.

And then he’s all in.

He’s clinging to them. Laughing. Dazed. Letting himself fall completely.

Because if they want him this much?

Then he’s never letting go.

I mean think about it:

Depressed bunny man sees the only person he looks forward to seeing on a daily basis freezing because they're anemic (but he doesn't know that).

He's like, are you sick? Why tf are you so cold? and readers just like well I have a chronic illness lmao

Cue him shooting up and being like "chronic huh?????" like that one family feud meme

I'm sorry but I get giddy thinking about this. He's the black cat lover in the relationship, 100%

And his favorite person, i.e. the only person he actually likes-- could be dying (not really but that's what he thinks lmao)????? He can't just let it slide, oh no. Not when it's you.

So bunny man does what bunny man thinks is best. Your anemia becomes your free coupon for unlimited cuddles, any time of day (He would fight god himself if god tried to tear you off of him)

Trinkets. Might give you little things like hand warmers or gloves or fuzzy socks or even his hat in a pinch, just to keep your hands and feet warm (let it be known his hat is only for your hands. Feet gross him out, I don't make the rules)

And when he finally understands what anemia really is, he's momming you into eating properly. He's a mom friend, the mom in the relationship, you've called him mom before literally just to fuck with him.

"You're fucking eating it even if I have to pin you down and shovel it in your face because I fucking will" (I personally headcanon that he has the mouth of a sailor. It just fits)

"Eat, goddamnit, I don't want you getting sick"

"Did you take your iron this morning? No? You're taking it. Now."

Will stand up randomly to fetch an extra blanket if you're still cold.

"Shut up. I didn't get up for nothing, don't get used to it" he'd scoff as he wraps you up in it and grumpily kisses your forehead.

Totally lets you sleep in his bedroll with him.

...And fucking hates it when you put your cold feet against his legs, or your freezing fingers on his neck. Screams like a bitch. Everyone in the camp has heard it; Wars actually started calling him princess at one point and it almost ended in bloodshed.

"...You're gonna get it, you little shit," he'll growl at you when you make him scream like that. But he can't resist your cute face and that sweet, innocent giggle, can he?

On the worse ones, you’d best bet your ass you ain’t doing anything unless it’s absolutely necessary. Time must chide him many times that your aren’t fragile, but in his mind it’s only “mustcareforynmusttakecareofynmustnotletynstrainthemselves—WHYAREN’TTHEYWEARINGTHEGLOVESIGAVETHEM???”

Hello! Yes, it will be continued! Things have not gone as planned on my end, but I do still intend to get the next part out by the end of the year or early January at the latest. All depends on how productive I can be. I do deeply apologize for the long wait. Here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come as proof that it’s being worked on:
