i do ship it!!

1. What made you ship it?

*shrug* i’m pretty easy tbh a good fic, art, or meta is all it rly takes to get me into a ship. i don’t recall the actual catalyst?? but xD

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

typically i think of gibotto as a fluff ship BUT, i actually think it has a lot of potential character progression wise?

like. i rly enjoyed gibson learning to take otto more seriously in the early seasons (esp in ape new world, but i also enjoyed the little humor aside in flytor lol) & i wish that had kind of… continued? i guess? like. gibson realizing otto is an intellectual equal & the two of them bonding or even collaborating? like, he had some great genius/sciency bonding with both suupa & captain proteus, & it would have been nice to see that with otto too lol

& then conversely i think gibson recognizing otto’s intelligence could have opened up like… him taking himself less seriously & loosening up more?

i dunno. basically i like the idea of them helping each other grow as people monkeys? otto showing his intelligence/more serious aide a little more often and gibson letting himself relax/be silly.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

uh, i don’t think so?? nothing is coming to mind, anyway :P

RYUKI I AM SCREAM LAUGHING ABOUT YOU BEING A VEGETARIAN POSSIBLY BECAUSE OF WONDER FUN MEAT WORLD (I know you don't mean like it was solely responsible but that it may have had ANY influence is funny to me). Like that episode was Ciro's vegan propaganda and it very much worked opposite for me lmboooooooooo

The propaganda worked, my brain was successfully primed for vegetarianism since the ripe age of 12 :D Not gonna lie, the imagery of that episode haunted me for a while everytime we passed by McDonald's, so I wouldn't be surprised if the message stuck over the years, even if I didn't remember the episode anymore. Though when I started the rewatch, I knew there was some kind of a fast-food-meat episode and that it was absolutely horrifying, and if I wasn't a vegetarian already at that time, I'd probably become one on the spot :'D

But it's funny it had the opposite effect on you, that's the other end of the propaganda spectrum :'D Ciro has no power over you! For one vegetarian made by the episode, one meat lover must be created. To preserve the cosmic balance :D

Sprx x Otto!

Ohhh some complementary color monkeys to start with! Nice, nice.

I think this ship is pretty underrated tbh. It has more of a casual vibe than the other possible monkey ships- like, I can totally see them having a relationship that's not totally platonic without it being a big deal. A "maybe they're bros who kiss, maybe they're dating" sort of thing. They don't really care about formalities or labels so long as the other is comfortable.

Also, I feel like with this ship we'd have an opportunity to explore both of their characters more. Sparx is a highly emotional character, and he doesn't always express those emotions in a good manner; meanwhile Otto, for all his goofiness and silliness, is actually pretty emotionally intelligent and mature. Sparx is also very much a romantic, and we've seen in the show a few times that he's particularly receptive to help from a love interest (Nova), so it'd be interesting to see how Otto handles Sparx's temper and frustration.

In addition, Sparx's romantic tendencies also make him very adoring, so I think he'd build Otto up a lot- makes me imagine a version of the show where they're dating from the start, and Sparx very pointedly praises Otto everytime Gibson puts his inventions down (which would have the added benefit of giving more dimension to Gibson and Sparx's rivalry, so that's pretty cool). Sparx is definitely the type who would sit and listen to Otto ramble about his inventions even though he has no idea what he's talking about, and I imagine Otto would make him little trinkets and knick-knacks because he knows Sparx would appreciate them.

Anyway yeah I approve of the gay monkeys 👍🏻

Otto is the best character in the show, I will not take criticism XD He has such a complex character which definitely was not given its due diligence by the show. He's funny but not just the funny one, he's skilled and kickass and sweet and SO DAMN SMART and worries about the team and always does his best! he deserves all the good things in the world

How is pink pitaya flavor cloud related smh (that's actually a really fancy drink to me woooow. also just makes me think of pitaya dragon cookie run hehehe)

They probably thought that the matcha floating on top looks like a cloud... or the ingredients don't mix well and the drink itself just looks... cloudy :'D But yeah, it looks fancy on the poster for sure! Pitaya Dragon Cookie should come as a bonus with every purchased matcha like this :D

Nova for character bingo!

I think Nova is a pretty great character- it would've been so easy to just make her "the girl" or "the tomboy" and literally not put any more effort on her, but they actually tried and I can respect that. She has well developed relationships with most of the team- her romance with Sparx, her role as mom friend to Chiro + Jinmay to an extent, the fact that she and Mandarin didn't get along even before the betrayal, her role as third in command as given by Antauri... She's great, basically.

I just... It kinda sours it for me that the ending season put so much focus on her being Sparx's love interest. I don't dislike Spova, but the way it was portrayed in those last episodes wasn't at all my taste- it kind of felt like Nova was just relegated to suffering to being back Sparx and that's so bleh. Usually I'm a huge proponent of the power of love but this just ain't it chief.

I'm sure if they could make a next season that would've have been fixed, because then out final impression of Nova would probably be a huge and really cool fight against Skeleton King's army but as it is. It could've been better.

Okay, @chanceofcloud for some reason the ask box ate your message but i saw it in my email? So i'm putting up the answer to the prompts you gave to the oc making prompts here.

Patty: is a shiny fidough . She is shorter then most Fidoughs and wears a little back pack that looks like a butter pat, delivering small treats around town. Very  excitable and friendly. 

Anthro version has a  food delivery job, similar to a doordash thing and living in a apartment over a bakery. 

srmthfg: Sharp, lake, whirl:

Whirlpool: Dark green with black eyes female monkey.  They have sharp teeth that has been compared to a sharks. That is because there is some shark fused into their dna with help from liquid from the cauldron.

Protective of all the other experiments, biting enemies and being supportive to the others.

She hangs out a lot with Trout, another cauldron liquid experiment monkey with a aquatic animal theme to them that hangs out more in the lake area of the enclosure.
