So I've been thinking... why DO you think Dungeon Meshi was so successful? I mean, I love it, but it always struck me as a kind of niche thing, like 'All Tomorrows'. So seeing it get mainstream sucess is kind of surreal.

i think these things are always a bit of a roulette but

first of all the fac that ryoko kui is genuenly a good writer of high caliber in the most basic of elements such as comedy, dialog, plot of each individual chapter and overall structure. as well as a great artist with iconic, simple and appealing designs and a good detailed and realistic rendering of the world around the characters, but those things can be a dime a dozen, what is that makes dungeon meshi truly stand out...

the autistic angle cannot be dismissed as strong bait for nerds online, it is very present and very explicitly explored to a level of humanzation and seriousness not often seen. second everyone likes it when a silly story with a funny premise develps into something bigger and more complex with deeper themes. is a nice basic trick where you lower the readers expectations by presenting the story as almost a episodical gag per chapter silly manga and then you dash your expectations by making everything bigger, more consequential and more dramatic. the suprise that causes make everyone be way more impressed with the story than they would have otherwise been had it been all serious business from the start.

then there is the fact that EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED, EVERYTHING MAKES SENSE. this manga does truly a remarcable work in presenting incredibly consistent and thought of ahead worldbuilding and lore.

and finally the fact that its a manga take on western tropes, stories and conventions in a semi western setting, i feel those tend to be particularly successful if we look at vinland saga, berserk, attack on titan, full metal alchemist, and the list goes on

I'm extremely happy with how far he has gone in this whole year even if I kept most of the info reduced to a very small circle. Not only Basil and her have had the most OC develpment I made in a long while, but this visual improvement is not just because I've learnt more technical stuff. It's because of all the small details that got slowly added and made both characters feel actually alive for me. Thanks for all the good times Inksy, from the bottom of my heart

Note 2: Creating a new species is already a big challenge, but a new species set in the Cookie Run universe sets the bar even higher. The simple art style of the game, even if creature designs have more detail than everything else the bigger they get sets up an important question: How much is "too much detail"? I've struggled to draw his alternate form a lot of time not because of skill limitations, but because I wanted to find a point where he looked simplified enough to blend in with the general style of the game. I still have a long way ahead, but even if he's not perfect I did the best I could do rn, and this time I'm actually happy with the result tbh.

Ramblings about God of War: Thrùd addition!

A/N: HEY ANON!! you're the first person in my asks ever, so ty!!! Sorry this isn't really what you wanted, but I'll to add some hcs if I come up with anything ❤️❤️

I'm pretty bad at writing HCs/fics and stuff, but I'll definitely do a character analysis and rant abt her!!

(Coming from Someone with a bias cuz my favorite character is Thrúd💀)

In my humble opinon, Thrud got done SO dirty in Ragnorak. She lost both of her siblings, then her father, then lost someone who she thought was good; Odin, THEN she lost the entire realm she's lived in her entire life (Asgard). Which like, fair enough, all of those deaths made sense because it was Ragnorak, and, it would mean that we get some character develpment from her, with all the grief...right? RIGHT-

Nope. Not even a little. After her two brothers died (AS ANON SAID, THE ONLY PEOPLE SHE COULD TALK TO HER AGE IM SCREAMING) all we got was an introduction scene to her character briefly mentioning Modi, then she said we are better off without him. Which, fair enough, if that's what she thinks.

BUT. All we got for Thrúd after her dad dies was a secret scene of her inheriting Thors sword. Which, IS SO COOL, but it wasn't even an obvious part of the game😭 She lost her dad, her dads dad, her entire home, and we got almost nothing from her about it. Same goes with Sif. She was literally just there. Her and Thor had this entire romantic dialogue about like "this isn't you 🥺" then he dies and and Sif- I think Sif had like 2 lines after that? Nothing even mentioning it, too.

Freya's loss of Freyr was treated much better then this. It wasn't really talked about, except for the final dialogue post Ragnorak, when you go up the mountain looking for Kratos. She said stuff like ohhh I'm gonna move on it's fine blah blah blah. That is so much better than anything that happened with Thrúd and Sifs loss.

How did I start ranting about Sif. What.

ANYWAYS (completely different topic on how she wants to be validated 💕)

I think that Thrúd just wants to be validated. She tries so hard to be a Valkyrie, and it's like people don't care. Her dad doesn't care, and her mom thinks it's too dangerous. Odin just sucks, and he probably doesn't care, same with Heimdall.

I think her and Atreus freeing Garm really broke her down. As soon as she realized what she and him had done, she panics. She gets really upset/angry and immediately tries to get out of Jotunheim. THEN HEIMDALL HARRASSED HER. She was completely in her head before Heimdall came and bullied the two, so the things he said obviously made her mad, man. She tried punching him. Knowing Heimdall, it failed pretty bad. She had to feel so belittled and stupid, everything she's work for being thrown away because of the one bad decision that was made.

Starting the chapter with Shuf giving a big speech about the tenacity of the north and even calling the troops “his children” only to abandon and sacrifice them immediately when the dragon appears really highlights his personality. It serves as a nice contrast with past chapters where Honuk and Rachel had to deal with the same situation and chose to protect the people.

Valentina being considered the soft one because she showed basic worry towards her brother told me everything I needed to know regarding Ramge’s upbringing lol

I see we are feeling guilty now aren’t we. Don’t worry Rachel doesn’t know the definition of letting go I’m sure you’ll have the chance to apologize if you stay alive long enough.

He’d rather just die than disobey his father and be punished for it. That’s some extreme parenting techniques you got there Shuf

First of all, YOUR mother? was there another queen at some point? or does she simply not care about their mother is they do share it.

Second of all, stop teasing me with his mom already!! give me a name at least!!

the fact that he clearly states this somehow makes the whole thing even worse. He really just doesn’t care. One thing I found interesting is his conversation with Brook earlier. About him basically playing the role of the bad guy then having Valentina step in as a contrasting “soft” figure. I wonder how would Ramge fit into that if they actually succeded.

I don’t like the route in which he becomes the bait for the dragon for obvious reasons but I really liked his conversation with his sister and finally letting his resentment show. His feelings make sense from his perspective but without Valentina there to act as heir things would have turned way worse for him I think. In a way her presence shielded him from his father since he focused on the useful child and let Ramge fall into obscurity which is awful but also safer. I think it becomes apparent when she chooses to follow her father in the alt route and only then Ramge is able to escape (relatively) safely.

Eumbambe is simultaneously cute and terrifying. I want 10.

Interesting how the toris seem to know him as THE Ramge lol speaking of toris wasn’t Rothbrok one? I wonder if we will lore about him here.

I’m liking the character develpment so far, he was separated from Sia who babies him too much and doesn’t blame him about anything ever. I’m a bit worried about his new found determination of not sacrificing the village over a promise (in opposition to his father’s necesary sacrifices)  because his Misty FC says something along the lines of “his multiple and voluntary sacrifices”. I suddenly don’t want him to reunite with Rachel anymore lol

Plot: You are an actress and shoot a project with Alex and Bill and the two of them have a crush on you.

Ever since you were a child, you knew that you wanted to be an actress, and it didn’t matter how many people told you that you shouldn’t dream so high and that you were gonna fail, that just made you want to work more just to prove them wrong. You were constantly told that you wouldn’t have enough work, and that being an actress is stressful and difficult. Of course you knew that, in their own way every job is difficult, but you didn’t mind it because you knew that you would have difficult moments, but you were ready for whatever that world had to throw at you, because at least  that way, you would be doing something you love. You had the support of your immediate family, like your parents in the first place, and so you decided to take a chance and start your path towards making your dreams come true.

At first you had it quite difficult, not really being what the casting agent was looking for, both in terms of character and in your lack of experience. You had sleepless nights thinking about how you were supposed to gather experience when nobody wanted to give you a chance to gain any of it. And you expected this, so it wasn’t a surprise to you, and it just motivated you to do better and go to some classes and stuff, but that doesn’t mean getting rejected so many times didn’t hurt you. There were times where you would feel like the people who told you that you wouldn’t be able to make it were right and that you should just give up and go back home. Your family was alright with you coming back and going to college for something else, but just like your friends, they believed that you could do it and that every beginning is hard, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t succeed. And indeed, with patience, it started happening, you started getting cast.

Of course, you wouldn’t be able to get a lead role right off the bat, but you were getting work as eather a background character, or a very minor character that maybe had one or two lines. And even though it was something small and didn’t mean a lot of camera time, you were still extatic and extremly grateful and happy to even be getting any work at all. Your portfolio was growing, your list of work experience was becoming longer and longer, and a lot of casting agents saw your passion and dedication to acting, to the point where you even got cast as a supporting character in a movie, the so called “best friend trope”, and your lines consisted of pep talks and you were honestly just there to lift up the lead character. But it was the longest time you had spent in front of the camera so far and the most speaking lines you had gotten, so to say you were grateful and excited would be understatements.

You had no idea where all of this was gonna take you, but you were so proud of yourself for not giving up on your dreams. You even sent tickets for that movie to your cousins who didn’t believe you could make it and some of the people who bullied you and said you would never amount to nothing. It wasn’t to spite them, not too much anyway, because you never were a person to hold a grudge or feel good if others are feeling down. You just wanted to tell them that hard work will always pay off and that hard work can beat talent if talent doesn’t work hard. You were getting recognized and it was blowing your mind to be walking down the street and hear people talking about you as you pass them, guessing if you were the girl they had seen in that movie. And it made you smile every time. Eventually you ended up getting an e-mail that changed your life in a drastic way. A huge gig, bigger than any you have had before, with actors that you admired.

You had known Bill Skarsgård from his role as Roman Godfrey in Hemlock Groove, and as the iconic clown, Pennywise, in the most recent IT movies. And when your agent told you that he was gonna be one of your costars, you had to sit down, as your legs felt like they were gonna give out. He always seemed like a truly pleasant person to be around and an actor who really cares about the craft. And his good looks were just a bonus to a very amazing person. And that was the case for your other costar who once again gave you that feeling that you were gonna collapse if you keep standing. The Ivar the Boneless from Vikings, Victor from Outsiders, Alex Høgh Andersen. Alex always had the appeal as a literal ray of sunshine to you and it made your head feel dizzy to be working with them at all, and even when you met them, you couldn’t believe it was true.

Both Bill and Alex found you adorable as you tried not to fangirl around them, and be your cool self, or at least what you thought was cool. Bill had known about you as he had watched one of the movies you were in and he admired the way you put everything you had into your character, so he already knew some things about you, but even with that, you had managed to amaze him beyong belief. To Alex. meeting you was completely new territory, but he was enjoying every second of it, seeing the way every part of you contained the character you were supposed to potray. Even your eyes would show the emotion your character was supposed to be feeling that both men were dangerously close to apologising to you the moment they looked into your eyes as you were filming a scene where you were supposed to have a disagreement or fight.

Both Alex and Bill felt like they were learning a lot from you, as much as you were learning from them. And your vibrant personality, combined with that smile of yours were enough for them to develp crushes on you. It amazed them that neither one of them was able to say anything to you, that when it came to you, they would feel nervous or get tongue tied. When the two of them were talking and you came up, the shock on both of their faces, wide eyed expressions were almost comical as they realised the second they started talking about you that they had crushes on you. They didn’t want to make this a rivalry between them and try to win you over from one or the other. They were gonna leave the choice to you if you ever developped feelings for one of them and the other was gonna support you both. But that didn’t stop them from admiring you constantly and gushing about you in interviews and to each other.

As more time passed, the more the three of you started getting closer, so much so that they put up with the silly nicknames that you gave them and even though Billy and Lexie weren’t their favorite, and they honestly prefered some of your more creative nicknames, or standard “love” or “hun” that you loved calling people who were important to you, they cared about you enough to accept you just the way you were, which meant the world to you. Bill’s brother Gustaf was really glad that his costar from Vikings was friends with his brother, because the cast of the show had become like his second family in a way, and now you were a very dear friend to all of them.

Every interview that you did with these boys was a blast, you would always have fun and if they even sensed that you were feeling uncomfortable with a question or something, the both of them would create a diversion, as you woke up in them the feeling to be protective over you, but not too much that you feel suffocated, but just enough for people to know that you were not someone to mess with, both because of you being a strong and independent woman, and also because you had the two of them who had your back as much you had theirs. You three were truly a great trio, and your friendship was one that you were sure was for the books and that it was gonna last.

Regardless of the fact that their crushes were growing by the day and often times they had to stop themselves from spending entire interviews talking about you, they never forced you into anything, or tried to convince you that one of them was better for you than the other. And their biggest pet peeve was when you didn’t believe in yourself and always claimed that “people were just too kind to you” whenever someone complimented you, because they just wanted you to know that to them you were absolutely amazing and to so many people who were fans of you. But they appreciated that you were kinda using that to keep your humble nature, worried that if you started giving yourself that much credit, you would become vain and too self absorbed. They were thankful that they met you and hoped your friendship lasted a long time, even if nothing more developped from it. You were the Golden Trio, named by the entertainement industry, or the Stylish Trio as fans started calling you after Alex’s post, and you were happy with it.

Why do I think Bellamy is not going to die in Season 7

Ok, I begin this post thinking that the reason why Bellamy is not in the trailer isn¡t that he's dead, but along my "research", I'm not as convinced as before. Now, my main reason is that I need Bellarke to happen and because I don't want to. But, anyway, these are my thoughts

I think The 100 is a very plot-driven show. Every death has a purpose. I review every death and most of them happen in the same season their characters appear. 

For example, Wells' death makes Clarke and Bellamy leaders and banished Murphy. 

Maya's death makes Clarke, Bellamy and Monty enter in a violence cycle they are trying to go out since then. It also makes Jasper give up. 

In season 3 we meet Pike and Octavia killed him and then she began her path to the darkness (don't misunderstand me, I LOVE Octavia arc).

Illian's one served to know that Echo is fixing the Conclave and making the Blakes furious, 

and in Season 6 we meet and say goodbye to Josephine, whose death means Clarke is alive.

   These deaths are the ones that are important to the plot and they come from characters who were only for one season. Then, we have the character who has been more than one season and whose deaths are also important for the plot. 

Finn: without his, Skaikur and the Grounders would never ally. Also, Clarke started to say "Love is a weakness" which was nuts.

Lexa: without hers, the Conclave wouldn't happen and neither the whole Bloodreina arc.

Lincoln: I said before that Pike death was the beginning of Bloodreina, but without Pike killing Lincoln, Octavia would be much happier even at the end of the world.

Roan and Luna: If they were alive, Octavia would never be a grounder leader

Jaha: After ALIE we know he couldn't be at the bunker but his last lesson to Octavia taught her how to be strong to make horrible decisions to preserve her people. Jaha and Octavia are leaders in a way nor Abby or Clarke could be.

Jasper, Monty, Harper and Kane: I'm going to talk about this in my next point.

Abby: Her death makes Raven and Clarke work together and makes Clarke get on a suicide mission to rescue Madi because how deep her sadness was.

So, these are the most important deaths.

Deaths and characters that influence A LOT in 5 characters. These characters are Octavia, Clarke, Murphy, Monty and Bellamy. 

I think that everything and everyone affects these people in a way, so they are untouchable and everyone can die just because of their development. Whatever a character does is for the develpment of their arcs. They exists or die just for them

For example, if you take the living ones we got Raven, who is always helping them and her relationship with Murphy changes along the time. She also teaches Emori how to pilot and that makes Memori break up because these two love birds are sometimes very stupid. You can take Echo, who is a key between the Blakes relationship. Madi and Gaia, who are important not only for Clarke arc but also for Octavia.

Jasper and Harper were very important to Monty. Monty was the one who pulled the lever in Mount Weather too and brought them to a new planet.  

He was one of the fives, so why did he die? Well, I think the difference among these deaths is that Monty (and Jasper, Harper and Kane) died in peace. Like how many characters in this show die in peace? Only the ones that were at the core of the show and were here from the beginning of it. Only the ones who have redemption. (Kane's was choosing death instead of living in another body and Jasper's was choosing his own death instead of killing anyone to survive) All of them chose to stop fighting against the other. Even when that means, they have to die.

So, after this, I think that: 

Bellamy death is not reasonable because his death doesn't bring anything. This is the final season, so what it could bring? (Contraargumentary: he can die at the begging and make Clarke as furious as she seems in the trailer)

He's one of the cores of The 100 and these people are immortal after the first season.  The delinquents who die in this show did because of the plot (read "a" again) because they're a number and we almost didn't see them in screen (Monroe, Atom, I'm not going to talk about Charlotte/I'm remembering Wells instead of her) or because they died in peace

Dying in peace is hard. Kane didn't have a choice, Jasper was so devastated and tired of killing... and Marper have a good long life together. How is going Bellamy to have a good death in this context? 

The one who probably dies in peace this season is Octavia and she told her brother that he cannot die to save her, I think this is the key. Bellamy only could die in peace if all his issues are ok but his last conversation with Jordan shows that the guy is in danger and he also promises to take care of Madi. The only thing he stops to worry about is his promise about Octavia (she's not his responsibility anymore, but now he has two other kids to look after).

So, no, I don't think he's gonna die. I do think he's gonna suffer (when doesn't he? )  and I'm thinking of writing my interpretation about the trailer one of these days.

I'm sorry for my English, it's not my mother tongue and the hype makes it difficult to talk about the show.

MLP as a good show and the character develpment was amaizing and very carefully planned. The characters grow up without ever getting their traits removed (E.g Fluttershy is still shy at the end of the series, but she has learned to stood her ground better)

MLP is an okay show, lmao, i liked it long ago, i never finished watching it (some months ago i remember i binge watched everything that was on netflix but it didnt have all the seasons), its alright!

The 3 C’s of RP!

Hi! Bandit here! I wanted to go over 3 main rules I have used in all my rp experiences! These three rules are simple and at the core of a positive rp experience! Here I’ll talk about The 3 C’s of Rp: Consent, Communication, and Context!

Consent Consent is important. Right? If you agree on this then you’re already in a good starting place. Consent is the beginning basis for any rp scenario. You cannot write with someone who does not want to. They just wont reply. So if someone agrees to start a story with you that’s GREAT! But you should ask about a lot of other things before you start writing. Depending on the kind of story you need to know your partner’s limits. The hard yes and no of what they are willing to write. You don’t need to ask 300 questions to figure any of this out. But good things to start with to gain general ideas of what you and your partner are okay exploring in the realm of writing are things like triggers. Just ask if someone can or cant write something. The worst they say is no and you skip that part or fade to black or keep it off screen. NOT EVERYTHING has to be written out or explored. That’s part of the fun! Imagination. You can also just ask what someone enjoys writing, it doesn’t have to be avoidant in nature at all. Do you like writing AUs? Ask your partner! You like writing shippy stuff? Ask your partner their favorite otp! Asking these kinds of things doesn’t just build a report with your partner. It builds TRUST and a clearer idea of what is and isn’tgoing to be in the story as you go on! There’s no need for a detailed plot outline if you already have a decent idea of what your partner is willing to write or respond to!  

Comunication

 All of this is a big part of the second C. Communication!!! Getting an idea of what your partner is willing to write and what topics to keep off screen is important. But so is being polite and courteous! Try to let your partner know if you cant write a reply. Just find a way to tell them you’re not up to it. I can honestly garuntee you, with 15years of experience that NO ONE WILL BE ANGRY. They’ll be glad to hear from you and know whats going on. Something as simple as “Hey im tired I cant respond right now.” Will be greatly appreciated. Alternatively keeping the lines of communication open for things like plot discussion, headcanons, and sharing inspirational material (Art, music etc.) is important too! Just shooting a plot idea back and forth helps develpe a vague idea of the direction you both want the story to go in. And something as simple as a headcanon can spawn a whole new universe of ideas! Share your ideas, share your hopes for the story. But don’t shut your partner out!   

 Context 

The final C is CONTEXT. What kind of Universe is each character from? Is one a villain? Is one an anti-hero? What would the character your writing with logically be wiling to do to reach the goal you ave them for the story? These are all just a small sample of the questions you should be asking while writing with a partner! Tying this together with things like consent and communication is KEY. If you don’t communicate with your partner first about wether or not they are willing to ship your characters together, Do NotWrite Something Shippy involving that Muse. This violates Consent. And means you’ve broken rule 2 by not communicating. Discuss ooc what the power dynamics in the relationship are! Is someone stronger? More willful, more devious? Is one character willing to HURT the other? If you’re writing a fight or an argument the first 2Cs of communication are absolutely important, but keep in mind the context of the characters you are playing. A villain is not going to be kind or forgiving in a fight. If the character is canonically morally grey, ask questions to figure out what is to be expected. If a character is aromantic or asexual, the context there should be understood that shipping in a romantic sense isn’t going to be a possibility.  Not following these three Cs and forcing your partner into uncompromising or uncomfortable positions is a good way to loose that partner for good. It’s also something known as God Modding. Where you take complete control of the narrative and don’t really take any input from your partner into consideration. If you’re going to God Mod, just write your own story. Because without The Three Cs of RP, you’re not in a partnership anymore. You’re in a dictatorship. Rp is a shared communal experience. So Communicate!

Sorry for the delay, and well not for posting my reworking of this arc ive just been lacking the energy and i figured seeing as these are written with foresight i might as well wait until the arc is completly finished before i post my reworkings anyway onto the chapter of the day and the one which decides how i rank the seriese from now on,

We get a gorgeous representation of the destruction that works as a parralell to a young shigaraki also surrounded by death and destruction 

Re-destro chopping his own feet off was a pure brutality and i loved itthis scene also reminded me of deku during the tournement arc when he used part of a robot to ride out the explosion from mine

I binged QOTS in like few days recently & haven't been there where all the episodes analyze/discussions happened & I wonder what was the general outcome/reaction of the James storyline in S3 & how the season ended for him. I've been in many fandoms & I'm not the panicking type and while I'm pretty confident his story hasn't ended there's also this 1% that has that fear for his future or lack of it. What’s ur take on this?

That’s kinda the general vibe I’ve been getting from the fandom at large: if people are a bit worried it’s mostly because of prior TV experiences, not by QotS itself. As for James’ fate I’ve mostly seen sadness and heartbreak expressed as the prevailing sentiments, but I think exactly because of how the whole thing played out there has also been a healthy amount of appreciation towards the narrative decision the writers made.

Me personally, as I mentioned in my S3 finale post, I kinda loved where it left James. As a conclusion to his character arc in S3 (and I’d even argue from the begging of the show) and just his whole behaviour it so true to his character, I can’t find any faults narratively. Not to mention that looking back it became clear the show was bulding up to that sarcifice all season. It just all made sense, and from a story that’s really all I personally need.

Gerenally I’m pretty optimistic James will very much be around in S4 (and full time) and that there's some good stories and character arc and develpments ahead.

The show has a history of setting a couple of character aside off doing their own thing. There are a lot of theories going around about how “James will be recruited by the CIA now” but I don’t think that’s how it will play out at all. Devon has a very low appreciation of James right now, and his whole deal in S3 was to get him off the chess board and away from Teresa. My best bet is James will be incarcerated, and we’ll see him in captivity for most of the first half of the season (which is why he’s not in NOLA right now. From a sceduling POV it will probably be easier to block shoot everything of him in prison)...

Either way, that’s my theory. But regardless of how it plays out I’m still otpimistic. Mostly I have confidence in the writers on the show. They are generally very in tune with the fandom, the story, and their characters and they’ve been very respectul about keeping their storytelling consistent. (PS - I started writing this in the message box but it was getting too long and blabby...)

Gerald’s room is pretty basic, it almost feels like a hotel room. Abe’s always moving so he usually has all his stuff on a room corner
