if you’re ever trying to explain to someone what having adhd is like, just tell them that your brain is a bee trapped in a jar.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share another safe food I love.
When it comes to eating these, however, I don’t like the dehydrated vegetables in it, so I tend to pour it out into the trash. I just like the noodles and sauce.
Do you have any similar safe foods? Please feel free to share.

Right, I’m really curious. Do any other neurodivergent people (esp ADHD/autism) have weird dreams? I’m talking mostly negative ones, where nightmare scenarios happen, but mainly long and bizarre, often with fully fleshed out storylines, characters, and plot. I have found some studies linking ADHD to more negative dreams, but it was in children only, and didn’t talk about how bizarre and vivid they are. I’ve always been told my dreams are wacky or that I should write books from the storylines in my dreams. I’m wondering if anyone else has a similar experience?

Maybe the problem isn’t people self diagnosing! Maybe the problem is that a professional diagnosis isn’t easily accessible a lot of places! Maybe you could actually do research on how difficult it is to get a diagnosis for so many people! Maybe instead of complaining that people are self diagnosing, you could use that energy to push for better healthcare!!

This might seem a little nosey and stupid but I wanna hear it because I’m tryna see something regarding my own future
BPD people, what were the signs, situations or symptoms you were experiencing that was like the “alarms” for you right before you decided to get diagnosed?

WTF? REALLY?
I need an opinion. We have a client that is significantly dyslexic. We have to be very careful with our written correspondence. No bold, no colours, just a simple typed letter/email/form/whatever.
They have also specified that I have to use Comic Sans as the font.
They heard that Comic Sans was THE font to use for dyslexic people. I thought they were joking, but no they are absolutely adamant, I have to use Comic Sans on all of our correspondence because they heard it was the one font that people with severe dyslexia can read.
Is this really a thing?
EDIT: I learned something today. Apparently this is true. That’s really cool. Thanks for the quick replies.

I love reading but the process of actually reading i hate i just want the story not the actually reading of the story i want every detail without having to read everything its so hard to focus on just words on paper but I wanna know what the words lead to but I can't listen to audio books I no matter what I don't process them because I zone out or get distracted and just can't process good in general so I love reading and the stories but I hate the actual reading of them you feel me?

i once heard a theory somewhere that people with adhd never fully developed object permanency in childhood, hence the reason we lose/misplace and forget things so easily. which makes a lot of sense to me? idk i just thought it was interesting!

Ok so I didn’t start hanging out in any of the autism related online circles until relativity recently. Despite me having been around multiple other autistic people for the past 10 years I’d never heard of, nor was familiar with, autistic masking.
Meanwhile it’s an ever present talking point in most autism-related online discussion. Am I the only one who genuinely cannot relate to this? Is this something everyone does that nobody in my life, not my parents, teachers, or even autistic friends bothered to bring up? It feels like one of those things that you’re expected to know the definition of if you’re in a certain social climate, but I’ve just never encountered it, at least not by name.
Can somebody please fill me in!?

here’s a tip for my girlies, gays, and geese that suffer from executive dysfunction:
if your executive dysfunction manifests like mine does, chances are, there’s one specific chore that makes a cannonball into a wood chipper sound like a vacation. for me, that chore is washing dishes.
this has been my least favorite chore to do ever since i was taught how to do it. the gross water and soggy food bits floating around were a sensory ick even with gloves, the smell was horrendous if the dishes had been sitting without being rinsed beforehand, and standing in front of the sink for a prolonged period was the eighth circle of hell for my adhd addled brain.
i’ve been slowly emerging from yet another depressive funk and my dirty dishes have been taunting me for two entire weeks. my issue is that i built up a big ball of dread about doing the dishes and have found every single excuse in the world to not get it over with, resulting in most of my bowls, plates, cups, and cutlery still being dirty.
what is my solution, you may ask? it’s simple: take the gunky dishes outside and spray off the stuck-on food with a water hose, then bring them inside to wash them with soap. that way, i don’t have to endure sensory hell and won’t have to worry abt my sink taking forever to drain afterwards. as of typing this, it’s half past midnight and i’m abt to hose off my dishes in my front yard
