The Charlatan Duchess (TCD) was a blog back in the early Harkle/Sussex days that really focused on the contradictions and inconsistencies, if you will, that Meghan presented. Among their information, they had:

Receipts of edited articles and photographs.

Tea and gossip about the Sussexes from people in their circles.

Reports from people who were actually in/at/around where the Sussexes were doing engagements that contradicted their PR.

Meghan's old Tig articles and Instagram photos/posts that contradicted her Duchess narrative.

CopyKates and Diana 2.0 behaviors/outfits.

A running list of Meghan's fashion don'ts and royal mistakes.

TCD also had a pretty big compilation/collection of photographs and videos from Meghan's first pregnancy that pointed out things like varying bump sizes (bigger one day, smaller the next) and behaviors that were incongruent with normal pregnancy (like squatting down at 8 months pregnant with a huge belly and keeping her knees and ankles together).

They had a pretty big following here on Tumblr and there was a companion Facebook group. (It's not really clear if Tumblr was first or if FB was first.) You had to be a member of the Facebook group to see the FB comments, but the tumblr was wide open and anyone could see/send asks. I think the FB group and the tumblr blog were being run by two different people, or two different groups of people, because the FB and the tumblr didn't sound the same and didn't have the same tone in their coverage.

(I was on the FB group for a hot minute and it was so disgusting there that I noped out of it a couple days later. It was a very different place than the tumblr blog.)

At some point, the administrators of the TCD FB group began asking members for money/donations for charity, which people would send them, and they used relationships built within the TCD FB community to scam the members for more money, including selling their data (obtained from "friendships" and the membership questionnaire you had to complete to be added to the group). In April 2020ish, the TCD FB admins were doxxed. That information didn't match up to the information the FB group were told, and people started asking questions about the charity donations they had been sending to the admins.

I don't remember who the admins were pretending to be - maybe they were pretending to be British aristos?, but they ended up being an Air Force dependa and her mother, basically running a huge grift and scamming a lot of people out of money and data privacy.

Anyway, once the TCD FB fraud was uncovered, FB members turned on the admins. The admins turned on the group members and the FB drama spilled over to the TCD Tumblr group. The TCD Tumblr admin also got doxxed, began getting the same harassment as the FB admins - everyone thought they were the same person - and in early May 2020, the TCD tumblr admin deleted the blog to stop the harassment and doxxing.

So that's what happened to The Charlatan Duchess and that's why this side of tumblr (in general) gets nostalgic for her - a lot of us found each other through TCD and a lot of us had our own theories and opinions about the Sussexes validated through the receipts on TCD's blog.

You can still find some of the TCD posts floating around here on tumblr in the reblogs. Pretty much everyone who was around in 2017-2020 will have some TCD in their archives.

In response to the "Major Tea", there was an old blog a couple years ago called Charlatan Duchess who had similar tea. The claim was none of the RF or staff were willing to discuss the subject of Megs pregnancy. Implying they were well aware of the possibility she might have faked it. The staff also referred to her as DINO - duchess in name only! That blog had the best tea.

I remember the Charlatan Duchess. She had some good information. :) For her blog to have that comment just shows how long doubts about the Sussex children have been floating around.

I love the name DINO for Meghan, although it is kind of insulting to dinosaurs. It shows what the staff thought of her, for them to give her that nickname.

charlatan duchess!!! I remember that. It was before I was really here and just kept tabs open on my phone. I remember when that all went down. That was nuts.

That was a CRAZY time on here! No one knew what in the actual HELL was going on.

I will say though that a lot of the rumors that turned out true came from that blog. They did have excellent sources but it get messy.

No one knew who was in charge and then people were asking for money. Nuts.

The Eyes Have It

I just wanted to leave this right here.

Everything, even the nose, looks similar to Archies’. I’m now convinced he is half Asian.

The eyes, especially those eyes.....and that nose!! They scream “Asian”!

Why hadn’t we noticed before? I feel a bit duped, as I feel this is something so blatantly obvious, I should have realized sooner.

And Archie does not have red hair. I’m placing my bet that he has dark brown hair, just like his biological, Asian mother.

What are your thoughts? Do you see Asian in Archie?

Harry and Meghan have misled or lied to the general public about a simple, physical aspect of their son.

This publication posited in one of its earliest posts that Archie’s hair was most likely not red but in fact likely brunette, as Harry and Meghan had seemingly gone to great lengths to keep it a secret. The child was always posed in black and white pictures or videos, and at Christmas the couple did an artistic style card where a picture was made into a painting.

Even in his mother’s latest paparazzi stroll, his head was covered by a beanie, despite the California heat.

Why was that? Most likely, to lead the public into believing that their son’s hair was like his father’s, a typically fiery red.

But it isn’t.

This Beebs fashion vlog is a sign of progress and a bit of vindication for those of you like @skippyv20 and @formerlyroyal who tracked the mm fashion trainwreck from the beginning.

It's brief but a good worst looks fashion vlog that is guaranteed to bring back facepalm-ing memories!

Many innocent commenters in the DM comments, in private social media groups (charlatan duchess), on twatter, youtube etc were viscously harassed for stating the obvious---messy royal in name only!

As usual, Beebs is still too generous (the sugars give her hell in the comments) but it's kind of fun to see how stunned newbies (like Beebs) are by Meghan's penchant for wearing what she describes as "EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT Once"

It's obvious Beebs doesn't know the backstories to the outfits. Like the quick trip to Ireland where they forgot to remove all the wrapping from her handbag (not Sparry) prior to exiting the private plane 🤦‍♂️ So desperate to look like a serious business woman only to be seen playing sexy secretary, rachel zane.

It's also a good reminder that there are tons of people who have only taken a real interest in the trainwreck since megflix. If that's you, @according2taz on YouTube has a great catalogue of the royal engagements.

A couple questions for all the legacy folks around here (people who've been around since the Harkle engagement days).

Does anyone remember when Meghan started scrubbing the internet and shutting down blogs? Skippy lost her first blog during this time, Yankee Wally got doxxed, and some of the other blogs (like Cat and Soap, I think) created backup accounts because the sugars were cranky and reporting everything to Tumblr mods.

Was that in the fall/autumn of 2018? I have it being connected to the Oz tour but I can't remember if that's right.

And then does anyone remember when The Charlatan Duchess group imploded and the blog shut down? I'm pretty sure it was after Oz and before Megxit, so sometime in 2019, right? But does anyone remember when in 2019?

I don't know. I was a casual reader of the blog. From the notes on the post, I am going to quote this one from @optimistictimemachinedelusion:

"That blog left because the Facebook group it was an admin for was found to be defrauding and lying to people. It was called Meghan' Markle The Charlatan Duchess. Most of their info was gossip. I was one of the very first members of that group. It was fun when it was still quite small and before the fraud and bullying started. 🤷

Edit: the ladies in charge of that group were pretending to be aristos with connections to the palace but they were outed on Twitter as American women from the south. They were just making stuff up."

I was around in those early days and I don't remember much about Meghan being active on Tumblr. But then again, it's been 6 years so it's very possible I don't remember that. It was assumed she was active here because a lot of those early blogs kept getting shut down and/or were doxxed but I think the general consensus was it was mainly Sussex Squad doing that work as internet warriors on Meghan's behalf after the engagement.

But what I do remember is a lot of heavy suspicion on the early Tumblr blogs - Skippy, Felix, JD, Plant, Charlatan Duchess, Harry Markle, so on - that Meghan was active in the DM comment sections. As the theory went, she had two or three accounts that posted a lot of similar stuff on all the pro-Meghan articles and wrote in very similar language / stylings that were also comparatively similar to the language and stylings used on the Working Actress blog and The Tig, so it was suspected it was her.

One of the phrases that kept coming up on these accounts that was also on The Working Actress is "rinse and repeat." There was even a username based on that phrase too, I believe. So any time that phrase/username popped up on the DM, it was assumed to be Meghan. There were other phrases but I can't remember those and unfortunately for us, a lot of those early blogs which chronicled this were shut down and the content lost.

Sassy is also an old-timer...it's possible she could remember more of this!
