In 1913, the time traveling alien known as the Doctor (Doctor 10) and his companion Martha were chased back through time to Earth 1913 by an alien family. Since the family could detect a Time Lord, the Doctor’s race, the Doctor used a special device to alter his DNA to make him human and forget his true identity. He became a teacher at a school for boys and Martha a servant. The family took over human bodies and continued to search for the Doctor and also managed to create an army of animated scarecrows. S3 E8: "Human Nature"
Tumblr media
In 1913, Martha watches in jealousy from afar as The Doctor learns what it is to be human and to fall in love with the local school nurse, Joan Redfern.
Episode: S3, E8: "Human Nature" Date: May 26, 2007 Writer: Paul Cornell Director: Charlie Palmer
Doctor: 10th Companion: Martha Jones
This is the first episode back in my rewatch since December after a took a hiatus, and my god, it hurt my brain. I accidentally started playing the next episode, The Family of Blood, first and I was SO confused when it started with a summary of the episode I definitely hadn't watched yet (this one). I was like, why is the episode starting with a summary of the episode I'm about to watch?? Then when I went back and started watching the right episode (this one), it starts in SUCH an abrupt and confusing way that I thought I had started it halfway through or something, so I was like WHAT IS HAPPENINGGG
So then I calmed down, played it again from the beginning, and realised it was intentionally an abrupt start and continued to watch the episode as normal.
Anyhow, onwards.
This episode is fine – I don't think it's anything super special. I did like the setup a lot (once my brain stopped hurting from accidental confusion) and it's so weird seeing the Doctor with a slightly posher accent and as a human. It puts all the responsibility on Martha's head, and I think she dealt with it all quite well, without her trademark squealing and being annoying for once.
There's also some really great cast members, including Jessica Hynes and Thomas Brodie-Sangster who are always delightful and, quite frankly, British treasures. Also, it's taken me THIS LONG (literally, now, as I'm looking at the IMDB for this episode) realising that Jenny is played by Rebekah Stanton, a.k.a. the mother in Raised by Wolves?! I thought I recognised her! Amazing. What a cast.
I have also just learned that this episode is based on a work of fan fiction, which was turned into an actual official novel, written by Paul Cornell, also the writer of this episode?! See here!
This is a two-parter, so I'm looking forward to the next episode which, for some reason, I always remember being better than the first – but I'll find out!

Michelin Star, Dry Creek Kitchen
As a Michelin Star restaurant, Dry Creek Kitchen truly has a unique, high end ambiance, but the lovely staff gives off a very kind-hearted feeling, which brings the comfort of a family run business. R
In the heart of Sonoma County’s wine industry lies the beautiful town of Healdsburg. Healdsburg has quickly become a tourist destination, not only for its scenery and famous wines, but also its amazing food scene. Within the town, Michelin has recognized seven restaurants for their uniqueness and culinary expertise. The recognized restaurants range from the Michelin Recommended list, all the way…

legends truly is my favourite arrowverse show rn it's so bonkers i just watched the one where we're trapped on tv and i genuinely cracked up and geeked out on how insane it was-
THEY DID WANDAVISION BEFORE WANDAVISION WAS A THING.
srsly this show is everything to me especially this season like ofc damian comes back then kills himself and they end up on a puppet kids show and ray and nora get married in the span of one episode.
ofc there's a disney channel ahh episode where they make their silly sorority and dionysus himself is a frat boy then the next episode sara gets torn apart by zombies and everyone DIES.
of course the episode before that there was a huge mystery on who kills everyone and it's the TALKING DEMON PUPPY.
legends is truly the show of all time i rest my case

S3 E2: "The Shakespeare Code"
Tumblr media
The Doctor takes Martha to London in 1599, where William Shakespeare's new play is being used by three witches in an evil plan.
Episode: S3 E2: "The Shakespeare Code" Date: April 7, 2007 Writer: Gareth Roberts Director: Charlie Palmer
Doctor: 10th Companion: Martha Jones
Initially I thought this episode was cringe af, and some of the acting and writing towards the beginning was a bit questionable, but luckily, it got a lot better. Still not the best episode, but it was fun! Plus, another episode that tries to fill in some of the gaps in history – in this case, why Love's Labour's Won, Shakespeare's follow-up play to Love's Labour's Lost, was lost forever.
I enjoyed the characterisation of Shakespeare; instead of making him into a shiningly perfect example of a man, they showed his flaws, his slight arrogance, and his constant stealing of other people's phrases for his works. Obviously we don't know exactly how Shakespeare was in real life, but this is close to how I'd imagine him to be!
I don't have a lot to say about this one. It was fine :)

Ok but honestly, one Legends musical episode couldn't possibly be enough. Because imagine, if you will, season 4: "Summer Nights" from Grease starts playing.
First verse: Ray is on the Waverider telling the Legends about his date with Nora. It's very sweet. The Legends are teasing him a bit but it's all in good fun.
Second verse: a book club meeting in Nora's Time Bureau cell.
Nora, holding lyrics sheet: Yeah, no, I'm not singing any of this.
Mona: Come on! It'll be fun!
Ava, studying lyrics: This is highly unprofessional and, honestly, kind of sexist.
Wolfie: SING IT!
Gary from the hallway: Tell me more! Tell me more!
Book Club: Shut up, Gary!
Back to the Waverider.
Legends: Tell me more, tell me more
Charlie: Like how was she in bed?
Legends: Tell me more, tell me more
Mick: Did she [highly detailed, very pornographic question with way too many syllables that brings the whole song to a screeching halt]
Ray, too flustered to respond:
Sara: That's physically impossible. Trust me, I've tried.
Zari, dry heaving in the corner: I want to die.

One thing I had to do for Back to the Finale: Part III was figure out the state of the Waverider in-story and the biggest part of that was tracking how the rooms changed owners over the years.
It got so confusing that I physically had to map it out and I wanted to share for anyone else who might need it.
The basics: The Waverider has 8 presumably identical rooms that were then modified by Jax and Rip before season 2.
Tumblr media
The boxes around the names are for where it's not clear who took which room, e.g. Nate could have taken either Snart or Kendra's room.
To sum up:
Mick and Sara were the only ones to stay in their rooms the whole time (unless one of them swiped Rip's at the beginning of season 3)
Astra got Ray's room.
Amaya and Nate took Snart and Kendra's rooms. Then Amaya's went to either Charlie or Mona.
Martin's room went to Leo for a short time and then either Wally or Rip while the other person got Jax's empty room.
After Wally, Rip, and Amaya left one of their rooms went to Charlie, one to Mona, and one was left empty while John chose to sleep in the library. Gary took over the empty room eventually.
Zari 2.0 got Mona's room and Spooner got Charlie's.
