Hello fellow creators:

Basic-ass cis white woman here.

I have been working on developing characters for my books recently and there's one that needed an extra something and I came across a post detailing how trans people are not only underrepresented but also lacking in historical contexts.

Trans people existed since time in memoriam so, I have decided to rewrite one of my main character's love interest as a transwoman. She is alive during 30's-40's era America.

Is there ANYTHING I should be watching out for or steer clear of or...anything. Anything y'all can think of. Any traps straight creators fall into that can be avoided. I am open to advice.

Also, since this is set in a particular time in our history...are slurs necessary? I mean, really? Maybe by shitheads in the story and then we don't have to worry about them anymore?

This shit with Nancy Mace pissed me off enough to say fuck it and go with my gut on this character. My way of protesting, telling these right wing choades to fuck off AND we have ourselves a new, (hopefully) well-written transwoman OC.

I'm open to suggestions.

Also: She's mix race, because that's how I roll.
