600 ℭ𝔢𝔩𝔢𝔟𝔯𝔞𝔱𝔦𝔬𝔫!
So I said I was going to a little celebration for reaching 600 followers on my new account! It's also the holidays so I thought that would be a fun little added bonus!
I'm going to do something a little different this time. Below I will be posting some photos. Your job is to pick a photo and a character and I will write a drabble or one shot based off of those! Feel free to add some more context (i.e. fluff, smut, angst)
This is my first time doing this sort of thing so bear with me! I will cross off what is already taken as requests come in!
I hope you guys enjoy this mini celebration and I can't wait to get inspired by you lovely people 🫶🏼

mardy bum
pairing: chris dixon x reader warning(s): tiny bit of angst if you squint, then fluffffff note: inspired by Mardy Bum - Arctic Monkeys
Remember cuddles in the kitchen, yeah To get things off the ground And it was up, up and away Oh, but it’s right hard to remember that On a day like today When you’re all argumentative And you’ve got the face on
Well, now then, mardy bum Oh, I’m in trouble again, aren’t I?
You looked down at your phone, reading the series of notifications on your lockscreen. Three hours ago, flight got delayed. Thirty minutes ago, I realized how impossible it is to catch a cab outside Heathrow. I’ll be there as soon as I can. Shaking your head, you look back up and catch the eye of the nearest waiter, motioning him over.
“Would you like another few minutes for your party to arrive, miss?” He asked kindly.
You silently thank God for the small mercy that Chris never stood you up at the same restaurant twice. The staff weren’t aware of how quite pathetic you were or how you felt. Smiling at his attempt to save your feelings, you shake your head.
“No,” you said. “Just the check, please.”
While downing the rest of the pint in front of you, the waiter returned with the small folder containing the check. You’re grateful that it’s not a busy night, the restaurant only about half full, and don’t even bother, instead shoving a couple tenners inside, way overpaying for just a drink and entree, before handing it back to the waiter who scurries off as you stand and grab your things, heading straight to the door.
A few women near the door catch your eye and offer a sympathetic smile. It was somewhat gratifying that a few men at the bar gave little shakes of their heads as if dumbfounded that someone had left you waiting. Sliding on your coat, you pushed through the wooden door and into the cold December night, fetching your car down the street to head home.
When you slipped into the driver seat of your car, you checked your phone again, taking note of the timing of Chris’ last text; I’m on my way there now. Stick around for me, yeah? You laughed bitterly, locking your phone back before starting your car and heading down the familiar path to your townhome.
· · ·
Your phone is ringing as you open the door, you ignore it and kick off your shoes. The only person that would be calling at this time at night, and now, you had no desire to talk to him. It stops ringing for a moment before it starts again. Again, you ignore it while heading upstairs, taking off your earrings to drop them onto the dresser. And once more, you ignore the ringing as you slide out of your jeans and blouse to slip into the shower.
The phone rings twice more while you make macaroni and cheese in the kitchen, and then once as you slide into bed. Luckily for you, Chris doesn’t call anymore as you pull up Netflix and start on the episode of Peaky Blinders that you had left off on.
It had been two weeks since you last saw Chris, when he left to go back home for the beginning of the holiday season to spend it with his family. Now that the initial holidays were over and New Year’s was approaching, he planned on coming in to spend the rest of the year with you, in your shared London space. It was a tradition.
That night he was supposed to fly in, meet you at the house before leaving for dinner. Then his flight was delayed – pushing the schedule back for the first time. He then told you he would meet you at the small Irish pub around the corner from yours, your favorite spot, the tradition. And then the schedule was pushed back once again as the influx at the airport had been too much, and it was near impossible to find a cab while fighting off the rush of travelers from the holidays.
It hadn’t been the first time this happened.
Just last month he had left you waiting at The Shard, in the most elegant, yearned-for-reservation place in the entire city, and you had been left alone when his train didn’t make it back from Manchester in time. That was something you had brushed off before, but now, as you were stood up for the second time, it almost began to burn.
It wasn’t that the relationship was struggling, it wasn’t that you were falling out of love, it was just annoying. You had always been the type of person to be on time for everything, early for appointments or meetings, or right on time for dinners or nights out with friends. It was that this was the second time, more specifically twice in a public place, and it was embarrassing each time. You wished that Chris was a more thoughtful person.
Sitting the empty bowl on the nightstand, you flipped off the light and put on your favorite show to fall asleep to before a light slumber took over.
Chris slipped into the townhouse an hour after he sent his last text message, being welcomed back in complete darkness with the exception of the small light in the kitchen. He walked further inside, toeing off his shoes at the door and dragging his suitcase behind him. Swiftly changing into a pair of shorts, discarding all of his airport clothes back into the bag, Chris walked upstairs to where your room was at on the left. He was walking through the dark like he had done this his entire life. It was like he could always make his way around where you were.
You were asleep as he pushed the door open farther, laying on your side with eyes fluttered shut as an episode of Friends played on the telly. The colors from the screen danced around the room until he shut it off, sliding into the bed next to your warm body.
“I’m sorry,” Chris said into the darkness, pulling the covers over his hips. “I don’t even know if you’re awake, but I’m sorry. I should have planned everything out better, I should have made sure I was here early enough to be with you. I know you wanted to have a special night.”
He laid on his back, staring at the ceiling, vaguely making out the small patterns. In the corner, there was one of those small, glow-in-the-dark stars stuck to the ceiling, that he put there after you first moved in because you said you wanted to fall asleep under the stars. It was for a joke, one that you appreciated fully. Staring at it, he could still hear your laugh as he explained it.
“I know how much small things mean to you,” he let out a deep breath, “I’ll do better. I’m just glad to finally be back here, with you. At home.”
On your right side, your eyes remained closed, but you let out a small smile before Chris settled in for the night too.
· · ·
The next morning Chris woke up before you, but when he slipped out of the shower he noticed that you were no longer wrapped under the blankets, but instead downstairs where he could hear pans and pots being used, coffee brewing.
After drying off and sliding into a new pair of shorts, Chris walked out into the hallway, prepared to head downstairs when he saw the photos hanging on the walls above the railing. They were mostly of you and your siblings, family and friends, and then there was two of you and Chris. The photos were from particular holidays – one from Wales that was your first trip together, another from an island off of Scotland for your first anniversary as a couple. There were plenty of other holidays taken, too, to France, to New York, and all of those photos were sitting in frames downstairs on end tables and the mantle.
It took a while to finally finish putting up all the photos in the house. After moving in just a few months ago, you managed to slowly but surely put them up rather than dedicating an entire day to it. Even though you had been living there for just a handful of months, it was already starting to feel more homely than before, for both of you.
He smiled slightly, sleepily, before carrying down the stairs to the living room. You were standing by the stove when Chris stepped into the kitchen through the doorway. A shot of happiness, of joy, went straight through your system, your body immediately craving jumping into his arms and welcoming him back in the way you originally planned, but the memories of the night before, the anger and going to sleep sad took over instead.
“Morning,” Chris finally said as he moved through the room to the adjacent room. You didn’t say anything back, just looking back down to the mug in front of you, occasionally taking glances as he walked into the living room.
He lowered down on the sofa to go through his bag, picking out clothes that he could put on today if you two had decided to leave the house. And then he noticed that a pair of jeans and his shirt was missing – the ones that he had worn yesterday.
His head raised to look around the room – his clothes weren’t strewn over any arm of furniture, or left in a puddle on the floor. They were gone. And that’s when he took note of the sound of the washing machine running just off the living room. You had cleaned up around his bag, put his dirty clothes in the wash. Even when you weren’t speaking, you were still showing affection through simple, domestic acts.
When Chris spun around to speak of it, he turned his head over his shoulder and saw you walking towards him, a second mug in hand. Actually, it was his favorite mug in your home – a white one with multicolored lines that resembled the tube lines of London. He smiled when you stepped around the corner of the sofa, handing it out to him.
“Welcome home, love,” you finally said while sinking down on the sofa.
It was a mug of tea while you enjoyed yours of coffee, making sure to add both sugar and milk to each. He smiled and pulled you into his lap as you sat, both nestling the mugs in your hands, taking occasional sips.
You stared at the liquid in the mug before raising your head, looking at Chris’ side profile, admiring it while you ran the back of your fingers across his cheek. It was moments like this that you missed the most while he was gone – just existing together, in the same room.
“And I’m sorry for being a bitch last night. You know – not answering texts, calls, and leaving the pub.” You apologized. “It was shitty and I’m sorry for not saying something to let you know.”
Chris shook his head. “No, it’s okay. I knew you would leave if I didn’t show up, so I didn’t even bother checking to see if you were there.” He explained, sliding his arm around your waist, gently pulling you closer into him. His bare skin was warm against yours. “And I’m sorry too.”
“I know, I heard you talking last night.”
Chris’ head hastily turned to look at you. “You were awake?” He asked and you nodded. “And you just let me talk in the dark like an idiot?”
You laughed, “add that to the list of things I’m sorry about too.” Laying your head down on his shoulder, you two sat in silence, sipping from your mugs, just enjoying the presence of the other for the first time in two weeks. “So how do you want to enjoy the holidays now that you’re back?” You asked. “Eating? Sleeping?”
Chris hummed. “How about all of the above?” He asked, half-jokingly and you laughed, nodding.
“Sounds good. First, let’s make pancakes, though.”
“You really know the way to my heart,”
You both scrambled to your feet, sliding in your socks into the kitchen, pulling out all of the ingredients and pans to be used. You grabbed the butter and eggs from the refrigerator, turning around to watch Chris shuffle through the mixes in the pantry. You smiled when he raised to his toes to grab it off the top shelf.
“You know,” you hummed, “we called it our home.”
Chris raised a brow at you. “What?” He asked while sitting everything on the island.
“When you got in bed last night, you said that it was nice to finally be home. And I guess it kind of, hit me too, because I told you welcome home just a few minutes ago.” You explained, the corners of your lips turning up. “We hadn’t done that before.”
At first, this was your townhouse – your new place after moving out of the tiny flat in the towers outside of London, but when Chris’ visits were more often and for a longer duration, it was no longer just your place. It was for both of you now.
The townhouse was what Chris always had in mind when he imagined going home, to the place where he always felt comfortable, when someone asked where his happy place was. The townhouse was yours, but now with his toothbrush on the sink, his clothes in the closet, his filming equipment in the office, it felt like his, too.
Chris dropped his chin, looking over the things he pulled from the pantry. “I mean,” he looked back up at you, “I guess that it just feels right, yeah?”
“It does,” you said sliding around the corner, next to him, “I like saying that I can come home to you.”
“Are we that disgusting couple already?” Chris teased as you wrapped your arms around his neck, his hands instinctively wrapping around your waist.
“Yeah, we are,” you said before laughing, leaning in to kiss him softly, “but I love it.”
“Good, because so do I.” His laugh was muffled by your lips, causing you both to laugh before kissing again, completely abandoning the ingredients on the island as he swiftly sat you on the counter.

11,000 Followers celebration
Tumblr media
I reached 11,000 followers a few days ago. I was kinda overwhelmed and needed a few days to come up with an idea to celebrate this new milestone.
Tumblr media
To thank every single one of my followers I want to give something back. With my 10 k followers challenge still going on I decided to not do another challenge this time.
It’s fall, Halloween comes closer and I’m in the mood for some Fall or Halloween drabbles.
You can decide if I write the drabble or if you want to write one and send it to me. Either way, I’ll create a masterlist for all the drabbles.
I will keep the asks in my inbox and answer with the drabble.
Please consider that all drabbles must involve Fall, Halloween or anything related to Fall.
If you want me to write a drabble choose a fandom, a pairing and give me a prompt. (e. g. collecting leaves with Dean; carving a pumpkin with Steve Rogers; naughty sex during harvest moon with Sam Wilson; serial killer Sam Winchester chases you and so on...)
Tumblr media
Rules:
1. Please only one request/prompt per follower.
2. No full-fic requests please. Only a prompt e. g. “pumpkin carving with Dean Winchester.” + the pairing. (You can add smut, fluff or angst to give me a direction.) I will write max. 500 words.
3. I will not write other pairings than RPF/Character x Reader. If you write the drabble you can choose any pairing or character.
4. The story can be fluffy, smutty, scary or downright horror (If you write the story, please add warnings and tag the warnings properly)
5. For smut - please no toilet stuff, fisting, hardcore BDSM (I’m not an expert and can’t write that stuff properly), underaged smut, or graphic non-con (hinted/implied is fine), incest
6. I will post the drabbles from October 1st to October 31st along with my kinktober stories. So, be fast and send a prompt + pairing. ;)
You can choose the following characters:
Tumblr media
SPN:
Dean Winchester (any version of him), Sam Winchester (any version of him), Castiel (any version of him), John Winchester, Benny Lafitte, Jack Kline (no smut with him), Crowley, Charlie Bradbury
RPF

Get to know me!
I was tagged by @malionnes, and what does anyone have but time these days? Here goes!
name: Danielle (call me Dani, please.)
nickname: Dani, Turtle Face (thanks, mom)
gender: Female
star sign: Sagittarius
height: 5'6″
sexuality: Straight
dream trip: Dream trip number one since I could remember was NYC; I have been and am dying to go back. London, Venice, Iceland to see the Northern Lights.
average hours of sleep: Depends on how long it takes me to get relatively tired and actually get to sleep. Sometimes 5-6 hours, sometimes 10-11. Guess that would make my average around 8.5ish
why i made a tumblr: I made my main blog (this one) in February 2014 because a good friend of mine at the time was obsessed and coaxed me into it. I didn’t really “get it” so it became abandoned. Why I made my side blog (@illshowyourhurricanes) is because this one is too fucking disorganized and full of shit posts that my fan fics would get eaten by everything else.
dog or cat person: I love dogs, but they’re too clingy and high-maintenance most of the time. I’m a cat in human form. Don’t touch me, leave me alone, let me be... unless I say otherwise. I’ve never owned a cat, but I need one.
when i made my blog: February 2014, but I was inactive until late 2018, when Ben Barnes stole my soul without asking.
followers: 233. Tumbleweeds rolling by in here, but i just reblog essentially.
reason[s] for my url: It’s based off one of my favorite John Mayer lyrics from the song “Edge of Desire” (Young and full of running/ Tell me where is that taking me? / Just a great figure eight or a tiny infinity?)
— 5 things you’ll find in my room:
A way too tall (and always growing) stack of books that I really do mean to read someday
My weighted blanket
All the junk on my nighstand (lamp, meds, kid books and barettes, phone charger)
My Macbook, which is the love of my life.
A TV stand that has more old jewelry in it than is anywhere near normal.
— 5 things that make me happy:
Rain
Rediscovery of a song that I’ve somehow forgotten about and the accompanying feeling.
My mom’s pitbull that is a straight up teddy bear and loves me as much as I love her.
Porch lounging
Words. I’m a huge word nerd.
— 5 things i’m currently into:
Apps on my phone, especially Design Home that I spend way too much money on ( @malionnes, i know you feel me here).
Word search puzzles
Challenging myself to make one of these drabble requests an actual drabble-length piece.
Chris D’Elia’s standup (Stolen from @something-tofightfor because holy shit, this man).
Actually watching television shows on Netflix since there is shit else to do.
— 5 things on my to do list:
Read a damn book. An entire one, in a relatively quick amount of time.
Get over my slump I’ve been in over the last week and get back to writing. (To do list is 4 down, 2 WIPs, 6 left to go.)
Meet my goal of writing roughly 100 words per day when my brain starts cooperating again.
Get on Tumblr and scroll for more than fifteen minutes per day.
Read certain fanfics I’ve been meaning to catch up on. I have a lot of reading to do, apparently

Banished - ChrisMD Drabble
Drabble Challenge #9 “You can’t banish me! This is my bed too!” - ChrisMD
From a list of prompts I reblogged, many more to come! Enjoy!
“Chris do we really have to watch Lord of the Rings again?” I asked as I laid back on his bed, watching as he put the disc into the DVD player.
“Did you really just say that to me?” He asked, in a very offended manner I might add.
“Yes. Considering we watched the entire series literally two days ago.” He sat at his chair, staring at me with a blank expression on his face, just blinking at me. “Well, say something.” I added.
“Sorry. Just waiting for you to actually get to a point.” He sassed back.
I sighed, fluffing up the pillows in the corner of the bed for Chris to lay against.
He grabbed the remote, shut the lights off and made himself comfortable in his spot, which included taking his shirt off and tossing it to the end of the bed.
I cuddled my back into his chest and he pressed play, starting the movie.
About half an hour in I began to tire. “Chris I’m so bored. I’ve watched these exact same scenes a hundred times over. It’s boring now.” He gasped and paused the movie, pushing on my back so I nearly fell off the bed.
“Chris! I almost fell off the bed!”
“That’s the point!”
“Hey! Not my fault. We need to find something new to watch.”
“No. Never. On the floor. I hereby banish you from my bed!” He said pushing me fully off the bed and onto the carpeted floor.
“You can’t banish me! This is my bed too!” I retorted, getting back up and climbing back onto the bed.
“We’re no longer friends.” He crossed his arms across his chest and turned his head, not making eye contact.
“Fine. Just know if you’re going to give me attitude then you get absolutely no cuddles or hugs or kisses.”
“Wait no I changed my mind.” He said turning to me again.
“Nope too late you already made up your mind.” I stood up from his bed and went towards the couch.
He grabbed my arm quickly and pulled me towards him, his lips finding my cheeks and planting kisses all over my face. “Please baby. We can watch something else for a while. I promise we’ll take breaks between binging sessions from now on.”
I smiled, leaning forward and kissing his lips. “Thank you.”
“This is a dirty game you play.” He said smirking and slapping my butt playfully, getting up to switch the movie.
“All’s fair in love and war.”
“I think you mean ‘all’s fair in love and movie choices.’”
“Precisely.”

Request Guidelines
I’ve had a lot of people messaging me asking what my guidelines are for requesting because the one I have up does not have enough information on it so I’ve updated my guidelines:
*When you request something, please Be Clear with what you want. I need more than steve rogers smut or fluff? This gives me nothing to write with.
*I reserve the right to reject a request. I try my hardest to write each request I receive but it does get the best of me and I never get around to do it. If you do send in a request and I do not either:  1) know who the person is  2) you hound me repeatedly for the story, on or off anon 3) I’m uncomfortable writing it, I have the right not to write it
*If you request anything NSFW, you MUST be older than 18. I can not stress how important this is.
*I will do oneshots, drabbles, imagines, mood boards, and a short series (if needed)
If you do not follow the guidelines, I WILL delete the request.
Do NOT hound me. I understand asking about, or seeing if I’ve gotten the request because of how stupid Dumblr is, but hounding me to write it and publish it is not going to make me write it any faster or post it and there is a chance that I’ll just delete the ask.
Here is a list of who I will write for: Marvel: Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Thor, T’Challa, Clint Barton, Logan Howlett Supernatural: Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester The Walking Dead: Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Jesus DC Comics: Oliver Queen, Barry Allen, Mon-El, Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne Vampire Diaries/Originals: Damon Salvatore, Stefan Salvatore Klaus Mikaelson, Elijah Mikaelson Actors: Chris Evans, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin, Norman Reedus, Andrew Lincoln
I am willing to write: Marvel: Natasha Romanoff, Bucky Barnes, Pietro Maximoff, Wanda Maximoff, Peter Parker, Loki, Peter Quill Supernatural: Crowley, Rowena, John Winchester The Walking Dead: Carl Grimes, Glenn Rhee, Negan DC Comics: Kara Danvers, Wally West, Sara Lance, Ray Palmer, Nathan Heywood, Leonard Snart, Aquaman Actors: Tom Holland, Chandler Riggs, Daniel Gillies, Chris Hemsworth, Kit Harington,  Jason Momoa   Game of Thrones: Robb Stark, Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Khal Drogo Greys Anatomy: Derek Shepherd, Mark Sloan, Owen Hunt, Alex Karev, Jackson Avery
I will not write: Polyamory, Incest, Smut for Peter Parker, Carl Grimes, Tom Holland and Chandler Riggs
Frequently asked Questions: Do you write person of colors stories? I have never written for a person of color for the simple fact that I wouldn’t know how to write them. There’s differences between a white person and a person of color so I wouldn’t know how to portray them without offending anyone.
How do you feel writing for the LGBTQ community? I am comfortable writing for the LGBTQ community, I just tend not to unless someone requests me to. I do not want to offend anyone so most of my stories the reader is a girl, and a few stories I will do a gender neutral reader
Do you write male x male, female x female? I have written a girl x girl story where the requester asked for Supergirl to be switched as her male counterpart but I wrote it as a girl x girl story. I also have a Black Widow story that hints at a little something in the past which is a girl x girl. If someone requests a specific pairing like male x male or girl x girl, I would have no problem writing it.
How do you write Y/N? Y/N is generally based off of me. I try not to write any descriptive pieces about hair/face/body because not everyone has what I write Y/N to be. If I do describe the appearance it is most always based off of me.
How do you feel about people talking to you either on your post or through your messages/anon? I have no problem with you talking to me. You can talk to me through private messaging if you don’t want it to be public, or you can talk to me through asks. If you send in an anon, I only ask that you are nice and polite. I’ve had to cut off anon and delete a lot of messages I’ve received because of the little assholes who think they’re entitled to be a dick because I haven’t done something that they like.
Do you have other writing profiles? Wattpad: Marvel_base001
How do you tag? On my side blog @capstags where my tagging system is, I have lists for each thing I write. Anything related to that topic, I tag you in it. I do ask that you reblog or comment to be tagged just because it shows that you are active
Will you put your beliefs/religion in a story you write? No. My religion and beliefs may not be the same as another persons and I do not want to offend anyone.
Do you have a permanent taglist? Originally, no. But recently I made a new taglist that is for permanent tags. That list, well post, is at @capstags and it should be the first post on there.
Will you write a story for an OC? If I have to. I tend to stay away from having to write OC’s just because of the variety of readers.
Do you write ships? No. I don’t have any interest in writing any type of ships. If I do write a story that involves a character x character story and it just so happens to a be ship, it’s coincidental. I don’t really write stories where the main pairing is a ship.
How long does it take you to upload another story chapter or a new story? I don’t actually have a time frame for when I post an update to a series or a new story. I usually will post a new story when I feel as though my followers feel as though I don’t write enough or posted enough, or when notes have gone down. For my series, it’s mainly whenever I have the next part written, or whenever I actually remember to post it.
You have a lot of discontinued stories on your master list, why? Well, for starters when I started those stories, I was really excited to share them. Then after I posted one or two parts to the story, the enthusiasm I had for it dwindled because of the response I got for it so I just stopped writing it. I have added more discontinued stories to my master list because I know for a fact that I won’t update them and it’s unfair to my readers/followers to have it open where it leaves it open for a possible update when I know I’m not going to.
Do you do challenges or anything along those lines? I have in the past done a challenge and I had only two people to actually participate. I do ships once in a blue moon but the last ships I did turned out to be a total disaster thanks to some very rude anons. I also participate in other peoples challenges. If it is a challenge that last a year or a few months (like my bingo cards) then I’ll open up a new tallest for that specific challenge, though sometimes I forget to tag that list in those challenges because I have a lot of tag lists.
Will you ever update your old unfinished series? Honestly, probably not. I started those series because I wanted to write it and then after a while, notes started to go down and I lost motivation to actually continue to write it.

1K Follower Celebration
I finally did it guys! I hit 1 thousand followers!!!  You are all fabulous, amazing human beings and I love you all!  To celebrate, I will open my request since I don’t call myself a “request” blog.  I will list the characters/people I will write for, and I will also have a dialogue prompt list.
Rules:
·         Choose a character and a dialogue prompt you would like me to use
·         It would be helpful to tell me if you want it to involve angst/fluff/smut
Please be aware that I don’t normally take requests.  If some requests don’t inspire me, I may not write them so please don’t be mad about it. I don’t know how many requests I will write, or how long it will take me to write them as this is my first time taking requests.  Please be patient with me.  These requests might be small drabbles, or they might inspire me to write a long one-shot, we will just have to see.
Characters/People/Fandoms I will write for:
Avengers:
               Steve Rogers
               Bucky Barnes
Teen Wolf
               Stiles Stilinski
               Scott McCall
               Derek Hale
Game of Thrones
               Jon Snow
Hemlock Grove
               Roman Godfrey
The Walking Dead
               Daryl Dixon
               Negan
Divergent
               Eric Coulter
Real Persons
               Chris Evans
The above list is from movies/tv shows that I have watched numerous times, over and over. Therefore, I feel the most comfortable writing about them.  I can’t promise much outside the realm of Steve Rogers/Chris Evans, but I will try my best for you lovelies!

“hey babe,” you rolled over, throwing your arm over chris’ torso as he slept. he moved slightly, opening his eyes to look at you as you laid next to him with a smile, prepared to celebrate the day, “happy one year,”
he scrunched his brow then closed his eyes, “i’m 21??”

a lifetime of laughter
pairing: chris dixon x reader warning(s): none note: by far one of my favorite things i have ever written / 4,890 words
Years Later
When Chris told you he wanted to do something different for New Years Eve, you weren’t exactly sure what he had in mind. In the previous years you and Chris had spent the day various ways in various cities and locations- once in Bratislava watching the fireworks over the Danube River, one in a Stratford Halo party with your friends, and the other at home as you two fell asleep at ten thirty. So any idea that Chris had would be new to you. Maybe you two could escape to NYC and take in the insane ball-drop when midnight hits, maybe it could be a small gathering at a friends and set off fireworks in the garden, or maybe it could be a night in to countdown in the living room while drinking wine and sharing a kiss before falling asleep in the comfort of being together.
When the day was nearing close, right after Christmas, Chris finally told you his plan. Two years ago you two gushed about wanting to go somewhere new and somewhere different to ring in the New Year, and you had talked about one place in particular- Paris. Even though you two lived in Jersey, just one ferry away to France, you fell in love with the New Years celebrations in Paris; the people, the fancy champagne, fireworks at the Eiffel Tower as it dazzled in lights, and the chocolate, papillottes that pop like firecrackers when you tear off the wrapping; it was incredible in your eyes.
As Paris was just one short flight away, Chris booked two tickets and a hotel in the city for the three-day weekend celebrations. The plans of dinner on a boat along the Seine River, climbing to roof tops and admiring the view of buildings and streets below, a show at Moulin Rouge, exploring and admiring the art in The Louvre, all of those ran through Chris’ mind.
In the early years of your and Chris’ relationship, you two were taking a lot of holidays and random adventures together. You two took trains across southern France one summer, drove through the country side of Spain, took a bus through Italy, and various other locations. Sadly the past few years had been lacking any sort of rush of adventure- you had completed your time at university after four years and scored a job that kept you in close ties with Jersey, and Chris found it hard to have free time as his Youtube career was staying steady.
So with every single cent of money Chris had saved for the past two months, he was going to make sure the New Years Eve trip was absolutely worth it.
While your friends ushered off to Rio, Miami, and even Australia, you and Chris left on the last week of December on a flight to Paris with nothing but two suitcases and bright smiles.
You and Chris arrived in Paris just two hours later, landing at the airport to be whisked away in a cab to your hotel, the Shangri-La Hotel Paris. It was one of the hardest places to book in the city during the holiday season, but as Chris promised, he was “on top of his game.” The Shangri-La Hotel was incredible- just outside of the city, mosaiced columns and thick greenery wrapped around the gate outside that complimented the iron-wrought balcony’s to each room with overflowing baskets of red flowers. It was overwhelming, and the fact that you were staying there was hard to wrap your mind around.
“Welcome to Paris.” Chris hummed, placing a hand on your lower back, causing you to smile at him before walking inside to the lobby with your bags in hand.
The lobby had grand marble floors, thick columns carved with architecture held up the tall ceiling, and nearly everything was gold or had a golden trim. Everything about the Shangri-La reeked elegence and wealth.
You followed behind Chris to the front desk where he checked them in to their room, right on the top floor with a suite. When the receptionist said the word “suite” you felt all of the air suck out of your lungs like someone punched you in the throat.
“Christopher,” you whispered, grabbing his elbow to catch his attention. Chris, with his credit card in hand, turned you and quirked a brow. “Suite?”
“The imperial suite.” He corrected with a grin, sliding his credit card along the marble counter and to the receptionist.
Once the receptionist took the card, you huffed, knowing there was now no turning back. “You didn’t have to do that. We could have stayed in one of the regular rooms.”
As the receptionist typed in Chris’ information, he smiled and guided his arm around your shoulders. “I wanted us to have the best holiday, for you.” He insisted, looking down at you. You watched his eyes flicker from your eyes to your lips and then back up. “Just trust me.” You stubbornly nodded and he pecked your lips before finishing the check in.
After checking in and getting the room key, you and Chris took the lift up to the very top floor of the hotel. Each second you pictured the room awaiting for you- you wondered if the trim was going to be gold like the rest of the hotel, or if there was a large balcony. Stepping off the lift, Chris scanned the key, letting the scanner turn green before he opened the door and you two stepped in.
Pulling your suitcase behind you, you stepped into the imperial suite and nearly choked on your spit.
“Chris..”
The suite had a large main room with suede sofas, a large glass table, and a diamond chandelier dripping from the ceiling. Even the bedroom was huge- a large king sized bed with a plush white duvet and dozens of pillows, several chairs and wrap-around windows with a perfect view of Paris. Hell, even the bathroom was nice- luxury bath with jets and a television emitted on the glass above the bath.
It was too much.
“Don’t you say a thing.” Chris said, walking up behind you and wrapping his arms around your torso. You huffed and shifted in his arms, turning around to face him. “It may be too much, or a little bit extra, but that doesn’t matter. I told you I would make this the best holiday we have ever been on.”
You shook your head as a laugh tempted your lips. “It’s just.. insane.”
“I know, I know.” Chris chuckled, tilting his head back to look through the windows to the rooftops and of buildings around them. The Eiffel Tower is within a perfect distance and broad in the horizon. He smiled and looked back at you. “Do you like it?”
“Do I like it? Chris, I’m in fucking love with this room, not to mention this city.” You laughed, sliding your arms around his neck to rub the space between his shoulders. “But we could have stayed in some random hostel and I would been just as happy to be here with you.”
Chris grinned before tipping his head down and letting his lips meet yours. You smiled against his lips as he kissed you, and when he tightened his grip on your hips, you felt him guide you back and then you fell onto the plush duvet.
Chris fell on top of you, causing you both to laugh when your bodies bounced on the mattress. You loved the sound of his chuckles- it gave you a sense of warmth and comfort.
“We have dinner reservations in two hours.” Chris said after glancing at the watch on his wrist, and then pecking your lips before guiding his lips across your cheek to your jaw.
You teetered your head back and forth, a teasing grin finding its way onto your lips as you ran your fingers along his jaw. “I can think of something we can do to waste time.”
“Oh really?” Chris grinned, looping an am around your waist and pulling you flush against him. “Because I have something in mind too.”
The first two days in Paris flew in the blink of an eye.
After arriving and christening the suite the first day, you and Chris got dressed in fine suits and a gown for dinner. He had surprised you with a dinner cruise along the river- the two of you sitting on the lower deck at a white-clothed table, smiling while sipping wine and eating the finest French dinner before sneaking off to the upper deck to admire the view from the front of the boat. You two stood at the front boat with his arm tucked around you, admiring the view of the buildings and the sunset as the boat gently carried under bridges and through the water.
The second day was filled with exploration. Waking up early that morning, you two set out for the entire day dedicated to sight-seeing and learning.
You and Chris roamed through The Louvre and admired the art, in which Chris couldn’t help but make a few puns at and say, “it’s nice, but you are the real masterpiece here.” Or something along those lines to make you laugh and shake your head at him. And then you two stumbled upon Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe before taking a twenty-minute train to Versailles before coming back for only a few Euros.
Later that night, after dinner and catching a show at Moulin Rouge, you and Chris had a few drinks and roamed the streets hand-in-hand. It was just past ten at night, but in Paris, that was still early.
Tourist and natives were still lively as ever- roaming the streets, snapping photos, diving in and out of cafes, and stopping at food vendors for the finest French pastries. It was so foreign to everything you and Chris knew.
Paris was even more beautiful at night than it was during the day time. Lights of orange, yellow, and green were shimmering across buildings and reflecting off the cobblestone streets. A warm breeze carried through the narrow street and you could hear the clink of wine glasses from a nearby restaurant followed by chatter and laughter.
You smile and clutch Chris’ hand tighter before you two come upon the Seine River again. You two slowly cross the bridge, looking at the lights on the rippling water before continuing to the other side. There was a man with a guitar perched on a bench just next to the river, his guitar case open with a few Euros inside. The man was singing something in a foreign tongue, even though you couldn’t quite understand, he had a beautiful voice. You reached into the pocket of your peacoat and fished out a couple of coins, tossing them into his guitar case as you and Chris passed him. The man paused his singing for a moment and smiled at you. You nodded at him before carrying on.
You and Chris made fun of the other tourist, specifically those in American-flag shirts with selfie-sticks before carrying on down the street and stumbling upon a staple of Paris; Notre-Dame Cathedral.
The cathedral looked as if it had stepped out of a Disney fairytale- the French Gothic architecture, archways and greenery. It was incredible.
“Wow,” you breathed out, once again feeling the breath shoot out of your lungs at the beauty. There was a few others lingering around the staple, but they were feet away around the edges, leaving you and Chris alone.
You admire the entrance- the hundreds of figures carved into layers in three archways just in front of you.
You felt Chris squeeze your hand tighter, and you turned your attention to him. He was already looking at you, then nodded his head forward. “Come here,” he whispered before pulling you along.
The heel of your booties clicked against the stones as you two neared the front of the cathedral. Stopping right at the entrance, you tilted your head back and admired it up close.
“It’s incredible.” You continued, unsure of why Chris brought you closer.
“Not that.” Chris said, abrupting your thoughts. You looked back at him with a quirked brow. “Look down.”
Your eyes left Chris’ face and you looked down, noticing that you were standing in the middle of a small stone circle. In the center, directly below your feet was a copper octagon with a star in the middle. There were words engraved in the stone; POINT ZÉRO DES ROUTES DE FRANCE.
“It’s point zero.” Chris said, rubbing his thumb along the top of your hand as he stood outside of the circle. “It’s the point from all of the other roads in France.” You looked back up at him and looked at his wide smile. “It’s the beginning of everything.”
You felt a shiver run up your arms as Chris stroked your hand. Years had passed but each day with him felt the like the first. A simple stroke of the thumb on your hand gave you chills, and when he smiled at you, butterflies filled your stomach.
“You did your research.”
Chris shrugged, playing it off. “I learned that years ago in school.” He admitted. “I knew you would love it.”
“I do.” You nodded subtly.
“Now,” Chris lightly dropped your hand and took a step back to distance himself from you. “You have to make a wish.”
“What?”
Chris tucked his hands into the pocket of his jacket and smiled. “Feet in the middle, close your eyes, and make a wish.”
You nodded, tucking a lock of hair behind your ear before positioning your feet in the center of the star. With one deep breath, you straightened your posture and closed your eyes.
A small gust of wind caught under your peacoat, and a shiver run up your spine, making you feel alive.
As you stood there, on the center of the star, in the middle of Paris, you were unsure of what you could wish for. You wonder to what you want in life, but that was a loaded question.
You wanted to grow; in your profession and as a person. You wanted to travel more, live freely, and be happy. You wanted to do other things- write a book, teach, own a company. You wanted to return to Paris as well, maybe even live there one day. All of those were dreams.
All of those were loaded wishes too.
There was one other thing; Chris. Him being there beside you gave you a sense of comfort that you didn’t have years ago.
Fingers twitching at your sides, you knowingly reached out in the direction you knew Chris was last standing, holding a hand out to him. You heard his faint chuckle before his hand found yours again, and his fingers latched around yours, and a smile tugged on your lips at the assurance that he was there and at the sound of his laugh to your ears.
You thought about Chris as you stood there with two feet on the star. He was everything that you had prayed for at one time in your life, and then more. He was your best friend, the love of your life. You loved him like you loved waking up in the morning, like you loved sunsets, like he loved football, and like you loved laughing.
And suddenly, you knew that to wish for.
Taking another deep breath, you put the words together in your head;
I wish for a lifetime of laughter with the love of my life.
You slowly open your eyes and look at Chris. He stood with his feet planted outside of the circle, an arm extended to meet yours, and he was smiling at you.
You step out of the circle and into Chris’ arms, letting him hug you as you place a kiss on his cheek. He is talking when you two start walking again, but you aren’t paying attention. Then he laughs at something and your heart flutters.
The last day in Paris would be capped off with a bang, literally. It was the last day of December and the clock counted down to midnight with an eerie tick. Midnight would be there soon, and then within a split second everyone in Paris would be launched into the new year once and for all.
You and Chris spent most of the day in the suite- ordering room service while lounging in the white robes supplied by the hotel, and lounging around while preparing for the night. You two planned to stay out for most of the night, or for as long as you two could stand it, so you both decided to relax with the time remaining.
Soon, the time did come though.
Chris had booked a reservation for dinner just inside of Paris, near where you two would be ringing in the New Year later on. Following the dress code for the night, you two dressed in the fanciest and nicest outfits you brought.
Chris was in a simple suit with a pressed black blazer and tie, and you were in a fitting, long-sleeved red dress. It had a plunging neckline that revealed almost too much to the eye, and a slit up the gown that revealed your shimmering heels. You had bought the dress nearly a year ago, but this was the first time it was getting put to use.
Of course, as you two were dressed to a T, the mirror pictures and selfies ensued. There were the typical photos that you both took, and then there were a few “different” ones as well. Those “different” ones would never see the light of day as long as you two were concerned.
Right after all of the photos were taken, the night truly began.
You two whisked away from the hotel in a cab, taking you two to the restaurant. It was a luxurious restaurant with the white table cloths, low chandeliers and thousand-euro centerpieces filled with roses, dim lighting with candles, and the finest dishes imaginable. You weren’t exactly sure how much the dinner would cost, especially with the two bottles of wine ordered throughout the night, but you weren’t exactly sure that you wanted to know.
Soon enough, as the clock ticked down to an hour and half before midnight, you and Chris left the restaurant and headed to the destination of the NYE celebrations- Palais de Challiot. It was a building across from the park, and across the river from the Eiffel Tower, but it had the most amazing view of the tower. As thousands packed into Trocadéro Gardens to get a view of the fireworks, you and Chris, along with a couple other hundred people, decided on Palais de Challiot instead. There were large steps that lead down into the gardens, perfect for photos or for sitting in cases like these.
With quite a large walk, you and Chris eventually made it to Palais de Challiot. There was quite a large group of people there, but it wasn’t overwhleming. Hand-in-hand, Chris guided you through the groups of people on the tile and to the edge where the steps dipped down, heading towards the gardens. Down a few steps, in to the middle, perfectly in line with the Eiffel Tower, you and Chris sat down on the steps.
Within a few minutes, as midnight was just now twenty minutes away, the crowd around you grew in size. The couple hundred turned into several hundred as other tourist squeezed their way onto the steps. However, it wasn’t nearly as crowded as the gardens below, where you could see people standing shoulder-to-shoulder for the perfect view.
“Are you ready for this?” Chris asked, turning away from the dazzling Eiffel Tower to you, on his right.
You turned to him and smiled. “Of course.” You said, looping your arm through his as his elbow rested against his knee, and then you scooted closer to him. “I don’t think you know how excited I am.” You continued, leaning against him.
One holiday that you adored more than any other was New Years Eve. You loved Christmas since it brought everyone together, including your family, but New Years was special to you. It resembled a new life, and a way of starting over. It gave you a full year to change, to grow, and to start over. The thought of that was something you loved.
“Good,” Chris said leaning over to kiss your cheek. “I’m just happy that you are happy.”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” You asked with a shrug, gazing out onto the crowd of thousands below your feet, and then back to Chris. “I am in the City of Light, celebrating my favorite holiday with my favorite person. I would take this over rainy Jersey any day.”
Chris chuckled. “So I’m guessing you don’t want to go back anytime soon?”
“Not if I’m honest.” You laughed. “But that’s where our lives are, you know. We can’t exactly leave that behind.”
“One day though, love.” Chris said with a nod, smiling at you softly.
The corners of your lips tugged into a smile, revealing your white teeth behind your ruby red lips. “One day.” You repeated before leaning over and kissing him gently.
As the conversation continued, the clock continued to tick. With each second, the new year was approaching faster and faster.
In the middle of saying something, you two were quickly broken apart by the deafening sounds of yelling. Together, it sounded like millions of people collectively chanting at once. You and Chris quickly dropped the conversation and looked up at the tower.
The once dazzling tower of lights had then faded into something else- one side of the tower was lit in red, and the other half was blue, as a single light on top of the tower waved around wildly.
The tension in the city began to grow as that was a sign the new year was just minutes away. Chris turned and fished his phone out of his pocket, looking at the time to see that it was only three minutes before midnight. 23:57. He looked at you and you two smiled as it really began to set in.
The Eiffel Tower became a light show- different effects with the country’s colors danced along the tower in rapid movements and transitions.
As the new year was just moments away, you felt nervous. The past year had been so great to you. You were promoted at your job after years of working towards one along with several other personal victories, you and Chris moved into a bigger and better home than the one you two bought when you first moved into together, and adopted another dog. It seemed like everything was finally coming into play for you.
But you knew that the upcoming year was also full of more possibilities and had more open doors than you could imagine. You didn’t know what was waiting for you in the new year, but whatever it was, you were ready for it.
You leaned into Chris, and then the countdown began.
“Cinq!” Five.
“Quatre!” Four.
“Trois!” Three. The large group of natives and tourist shouted around you.
You turned your head and looked at Chris, both of you smiling wide. Your arms untangled and he reached over, gently placing a hand on your back to pull you closer, and you leaned in, guiding a hand across his cheek. You two stared heavily at each other, feeling his breath fan against your neck.
“Deux!” Two.
With a wide smile, you tilted your head and let your lips ghost over Chris’. He chuckled at your teasing move.
“Un!” One.
Your hand slipped to the back of Chris’ head, and you pressed your lips against his in a hungry fashion. His lips tasted faintly like red wine and chocolate from the papillottes, and you were sure yours did the same.
Either of you could contain your smiles. It was like the first New Years kiss you two had shared years ago when Chris was so eager that he kissed you at the fifteen second mark during the countdown.
The Eiffel Tower turned white and dazzled in the lights as people began to yell and chant, and the fireworks next to the tower popped in the sky in ranges of colors and designs.
Your lips moved in sync with Chris’, taking in the moment you two were in. Around you both, couples and complete strangers were ringing in the new year and celebrating by either kissing each other, or kissing the rim of their drinks.
You could see the colors explode and dance across your eyelids as you held Chris close. It was a heated moment, more than you two expected, both clinging on to each other like it’s your last breath. The kiss was so full of love and passion it was almost unbearable. It was the kind of kiss that inspired the stars to climb into the sky and light up the world. The kind of kiss that took forever, yet no time at all.
Both of you laughed, sharing one more subtle kiss because you could. You turned away for a second, letting Chris rest his forehead against your temple as you admired the view. The Eiffel Tower was dancing in light, and fireworks were exploding in the sky in arrays of different colors.
“Bonne Année!” Happy New Year, everyone was shouting in every direction. In the mix of languages, many rang your ears; "Feliz Año Nuevo!" and "Feliç any nou!" with "Buon anno!" echoing in the background. It was an intense moment filled with a rush of happiness and joy for everyone around.
Watching the fireworks, hearing them explode and pop against your ears, you smiled and basked in the moment of pure bliss.
Chris leaned his head back and looked at you. He watched as the colors of the tower and fireworks danced across your soft features, and the way your eyes stared up at the sky like fairy lights. He looked and looked at you, like you were the only person in Paris with him at that moment. Right there he knew that he loved you more than anything he had ever imagined in the world.
You were achingly beautiful and that was something Chris thought from the moment he met you. Years had passed and he thought the same, and years from now, he would still think that.
You were sitting on the steps in Paris with your dress crumpled at your knees, and your faded lipstick, but you were as vibrant as every star in the night sky.
He loved you when you first met- a plain tee and frizzy hair with smeared makeup. He loved you months later in the mornings with sleepy eyes and wrinkled pajamas. He loved you now when he came home in the evenings to find you asleep on the sofa, cuddled with the dog.
And then there was the future. Chris didn’t know exactly what the future held for you two, but he was sure he would love you just as much then too.
Chris watched you turn to him, still with the same smile. He felt his heart race, and that was the moment Chris knew what he wanted a sliver of his future to hold. He wanted to be the last person to ever hold you, tell you that he loves you. You were it. This was it for him.
Without the thinking, the words spilled out of his mouth; “I want to marry you.”
Hearing those words ring your ears, you looked at Chris in a moment of confusion. Your brow knitted together, and then you realized that you heard him correctly.
You studied him for a moment, soft eyes and parted lips. His posture was off- shoulders leaning into towards you, and he wasn’t paying attention to the firework display, but instead focused on you like he had never looked away. After realizing you heard him correctly, your heart beat quickened and your heart pounded against your chest. The moment was overwhelming.
He wanted to marry you.
He wanted to marry you.
He didn't want anyone else in the world. He chose you.
It had ran through your mind a million times, you wondered if the time would ever come, and it finally did. And you knew exactly what to say.
You couldn’t form any other words than what slipped past your lips next; “I want to marry you too.”
There was no thinking, no pondering, it was the truth spilling from your lips.
Chris felt weight lift off his shoulders and he smiled. All of your emotions running high, you weren’t able to process a sentence or anything, so all you did was kiss him. You reached out, holding onto his face as you brought your lips to his and he chuckled before looping both arms around your torso and pulling you onto him. Neither of you cared if anyone was watching on, this was your moment.
“Chris?” You whispered against his lips before kissing him again. He hummed a repsonse back, nose nudged against yours and you laughed, leaning your forehead against his. “I fucking love you.”
He grinned. “Good, because I fucking love you too.”

the end of all things
pairing: chris dixon x reader warning(s): none note: the end / the end of all things - panic! at the disco / 8,050 words
Lay us down We're in love
When the wedding day finally came around, it became everything that you ever imagined.
The months leading up to the big day, which took years of planning on its own, was full of appointments with the wedding planner, late nights of booking, and a lot of searching in between. Both you and Chris used the weekends to travel; searching for the one spot that would hold dear to your hearts. First it was a train to Bordeaux to look at the vineyard venues, then a visit to Spain's sun-kissed coast of Malaga, a trip to Cochem Castle in Germany, and numerous of other places. The idea of having a wedding in Jersey was appealing, but you both knew you wanted something more. Chris was willing to give you the world to have your dream wedding, and you were thankful.
It was one month after searching through venues, numerous phone calls and plane tickets abroad, that you and Chris found the exact spot you wanted to become husband and wife. Villa Pizzo in Lake Como, Italy. It's a luxury lakeside villa with a chalky pink and peach facade with running English-inspired gardens and the most amazing view. It was rustic and chic, elegant, but not too glossy for yours and Chris' humble minds. You could remember walking hand-in-hand with Chris down a tree-lined path from the villa to the lakeside terrace, and in that moment you knew that was the place you wanted to share your vows to Chris with your closest family and friends. There was no doubt in yours and Chris' minds that this was the place you two had been waiting to stumble upon.
You waited until the last minute possible, like usual with most things, to find your wedding gown. The colors of the wedding had been a debatable topic between you and Chris for months, so you waited until all of the decisions were finalized so you could pick out the dresses. In the past year or so you had window-shopped dresses around Jersey, but never found one you were enthused about, so you decided to try London. You flew with Chris' mum to London, where you met with your mum and best friend to scan the bridal shops in hopes of finding the perfect one. The first day was unsuccessful for you in terms of finding a dress, but the gowns for you bridesmaids were found. It was a Amsale NY, rose colored dress in the Corbin style; hand-ruched chiffon with a criss-cross in the bust, and an empire waist to compliment the inverted v-neckline. It would compliment the light blush hues you and Chris agreed on.
The second day in London, upon the second hour and second shop scanned, you found your wedding gown. You could remember standing on the rounded stool in front of a dozen mirrors, looking at yourself in the white dress, and seeing the teary-eyed smiles from those behind you on the sofa. The three women on the sofa were crying, and you felt beautiful for the first time in a very long time. That was when you knew you were wearing the dress.
It was a Rosa Clara, Alejo line gown. Your mother wore a Rosa Clara gown to her wedding, so it almost felt like fate as you decided your own. It was a mix of a sensual bodice and ball-gown-style skirt that created a striking contrast. It was a princess-style beaded lace with a tulle gown that flattered your figure. A dipping neckline to an empire waist with lace that showed off the perfect amount of skin. It was so simple, something that you wanted. You felt stunning for once, and you just knew that Chris would love it too.
After the dress was picked, the suit was formally fitted, and the invites were sent out, the bachelor and bachelorette parties were thrown. Even though the parties were typically thrown the night before weddings, neither yours or Chris' schedule didn't confine to the events, so instead the parties were thrown the weekend before. Chris had whisked away with his best friends to Valencia for his bachelor party where he met up with everyone for plenty of drinking and nights out. It was a typical lads holiday without all of the hook-ups, and Chris considered it a weekend well-spent.
Meanwhile your best friends, which happened to be quite a group, surprised you with a trip to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. You previously told them you wanted a quiet bachelorette party, maybe just even a brunch one morning, but instead you were gifted with a plane ticket to Las Palmas for a weekend on a yacht with plenty of shopping, swimming, and sunbathing in preparation for the big day. They even surprised you with customized tees, sashes that said you were a bride-to-be, and buckets of champagne at the clubs on nights out. It was one of the best weekends of your life, or as Gee called it; "One last fling before the ring."
When you and Chris returned home that Monday, neither of you were still drunk, sunburnt, nor had indecent information or photos spread on Twitter, so it was considered a weekend well done.
One week later, as all of the pre-wedding hype had died down, the day was just around the corner. The families, friends, and you and Chris couple to Italy in preparation. The first day in Italy was spent relaxing, enjoying the coast and its water in the small amount of time left before everything would come together. You could still remember clinking glasses with Chris as you two sipped wine on a boat through Lake Como one afternoon.
The day before the wedding, after the reception practice and run-through at the ceremony location earlier in the day, you and Chris threw a small party at the Grand Hotel Serbelloni for the guests. The guest ranged from family to "associates" that you and Chris weren't even really close to, but you wanted them to be a part of it as well. Everyone in Italy for the wedding gathered on the patio outside, sipped on fine Italian wine, and you managed to open up a few wedding gifts as well which was like matching wine glasses with frosted words on them, and an embroidered pillow with yours and Chris' initials and the wedding date stitched on the front.
It was just a fun time under a patio of twinkle lights with everyone having a good time together.
Into the late afternoon as the sun slowly sat behind the horizon, you broke away from Freya and walked over to Chris, who was in a conversation with one of his close friends and Callum, and sat down on the arm of his chair. He grinned up at you and you kissed him gently on the forehead.
So far, everything in Italy had gone by smoothly. There wasn't a problem with anyone arriving late, booking hotel rooms or rooming situations with the hotel, the wedding practice went by without a flaw, and now all of the families and friends were getting along well. It was actually better than you, and Chris, expected.
You looked over to the edge of the patio where your mum was deep into a conversation with Chris' mum and aunt, causing you to laugh at their loud tones and smiling faces. Next to them your friends were mingling with Chris', and all of the dads were getting along just well. The small things that kept you nervous and anxious were panning out to be just fine.
"Everyone seems to be having a good time." Chris said, sliding an arm around your waist to bring you into his lap. He kissed you on the cheek and smiled. "Our mum's haven't stopped talking since they arrived."
You laughed, nodding, before reaching over and grabbing his wine glass to take a sip. "Expect that at every family gathering from now on. My mum can't keep her mouth closed around your family." Looking back at Chris, you raised a timid brow. "Sure you want to go through with tomorrow then?" You teased.
"Absolutely sure," he said kissing you gently on the cheek, then a quick one on the lips before someone else approached you two.
The next day was the big day.
The whole hotel was buzzing early that morning due to the fact that it was the day of the wedding.
From the room service orders nearly breaking the kitchen, to the bridesmaids and other girls were running up and down the hallways with pairs of shoes and minor complications with dresses, the entire hotel was on a lockdown to make sure the day went by smoothly.
In separate rooms, you and Chris prepared for the big day. You two ate breakfast, got dressed, and done the final preparations separately. That entire morning all of the girls were darting in and out of your room, asking which shoes looked better, if their makeup was okay, or if they should keep their hair up or down. You knew the wedding photographer who slipped into your room earlier was having a field day with it all. You gave a lot of advice while sitting in the chair, getting your own makeup done.
Yes, Sarah, the rose heels look good with the bridesmaids dress.
Yes, Emily, your makeup looked fine.
And Gee, your hair looks better down.
You swore that without the cup of tea you had been sipping on, you would have already blown up. All of the stress was finally settling on your shoulders and the tension grew in your mind. However, you had to keep the fact that it was all about to pay off, in the back of your head too.
After you were finished with hair and makeup, you decided to take a quick break. Walking out onto your balcony with a cup of tea, you settled down on the edge of the terrace, and just took a deep breath while admiring the view. It was a perfect, sunny day over Lake Como, and it was everything you ever dreamed. The houses and villas were vibrant in color, there were little boats litering the blue water. It all looked magical and you had to take a step back to rememeber that this was where you were getting married.
When you were younger, you had a whole notebook dedicated to your future wedding. Back then you wanted a small church ceremony in Bath with your closest family and friends, the bridesmaids would be wearing red, and you would be in a large ballgown. Now, as time progressed, you realized what you truly wanted. And this was it. A ceremony with the best people you knew, in the most beautiful dress, with a magical location you would never forget. This was your dream, and it was all coming true.
As you remained outside on the balcony in your own thoughts and ideas, you heard music come from the room behind you. You spun around, sipping on your tea, to see Freya and Stephanie and Nia dancing in the room to a remix of Beyonce's Drunk In Love. They were dancing wildly, waving their arms or holding up their dresses with the brightest smiles on their faces as they did so. You laughed, shaking your head, and reminded yourself of the good. This wasn't all going to be stressful. You had to remind yourself that it was your wedding, and whatever happened, you were going to leave Italy married to the love of your life. And that was enough to make you smile.
At eleven o'clock that morning, the family, friends, and others left Grand Hotel Serbelloni. They all took separate boats to Villa Pizzo, the location for the wedding ceremony. That is where the ceremony and reception would follow outside. The boats came to and from the hotel and picked up all the guest before whisking them away to the villa, and you and the bridesmaids were the last to go.
After docking in Villa Pizzo, you and your "team" of girls, which was the bridesmaids, made your way into the villa for last minute checks as the guests got settled in their seats outside. Inside the villa, in the main room, you looked in the gold-trimmed mirror and smiled. The wedding dress, your hair, the makeup, all of it was seemingly perfect to you. The dress was simple, your hair was down in loose waves, and with light mascara and pink lips, you felt beautiful. And you knew Chris would think the same.
"Everyone is seated. It's almost time." Your mum said as she slid into the main room of the villa. Everyone in the room did last minute checks on hair, makeup, and shoes, and then nodded at her. She looked at you, noticed your beaming smile, and thought you were glowing. She leaned against the doorframe, one hand over her heart with wet eyes, and smiled. "You look so beautiful, dear." She said. "I cannot believe my daughter is getting married today."
You nodded and looked around the room. You had your bridesmaids, from Sarah to your best friend since kindergarten, all dressed in rose gowns with their bouquets in hand. You wanted to start crying at how beautiful they looked, but you knew you had to hold it back. For the sake of the hours of makeup.
"Come on," Sarah stepped forward, handing you your bouquet and looping her arm through yours. "Let's go get married." She said and everyone in the room laughed before walking out of the villa.
As your mum left just minutes before, she made it in perfect timing for the ceremony. Together, you and your bridesmaids, and the groomsmen all made it to the path. It was a small, narrow gravel path that lead straight to the overlook where everyone was already seated.
All of the groomsmen made their way out, and then the bridesmaids. You lingered behind just a few feet and there, met with your father. When your eyes met his, he lit up like a Christmas tree. His eyes were wide and bright, and you had never seen him smile so large. He admired you in the gown, how stunning you looked, and he was so thankful he was here to witness this day.
When you approached him, he gently kissed your forehead. "You're growing up on me, darling." He whispered, and the soft instrumental music began to play in the distance, signaling that it was her time to go. You smiled at him, kissing his cheek, before looping an arm through his, and starting down the path together.
As you neared the steps to walk down, you looked up to see everyone seated, looking in your direction. Smiling, your father helped you down the stairs slowly, and then together, walked down the aisle of people. For a split second, as you neared the aisle, you looked at the guests. In the mix of everyone, you spotted yours and Chris' family, and then the friends who were a part of this special day. Starting down the aisle between the seats, you looked up and met eyes with Chris. He had his hands clasped in front of his face, shielding the brightest smile, and his eyes were wet with tears. You could feel the eyes of everyone on you, but that wasn't on your mind at that moment. Chris finally dropped his hands to reveal his perfect smile, and you were sure you were wearing one just the same.
At the end of the aisle, Chris stepped down to meet you and your father. You and your father shared a small kiss on the cheek, and he and Chris exchanged nice words before Chris took you by the hand and lead you back to your standing positions in front of the minister.
"You look so beautiful, love." Chris whispered as he dropped your hand.
You smiled at him. "And you look so handsome." You whispered back, sharing a smile with your future husband before letting the minister take over.
"Friends and relatives, we have come here today at the invitation of Christopher Michael Dixon and (y/f/m/l/n) to share in the joy of their wedding. This outward celebration that we shall see and hear, I believe, is an expression of the inner love and devotion they have in their hearts toward one another. I believe marriage is of God, and Chris and (y/n) come today desiring to be united in this sacred relationship of marriage. Who is giving this woman to be married to this man?"
Your father stood from his seat, pressed one hand against his blazer while holding the other up. "Father, my wife and I do." He said before nodding, and then seating again.
The minister nodded and carried on. "The ceremony of marriage in which you come to be united is one of the first and oldest ceremonies in the entire world, celebrated in the beginning in the presence of God himself. Marriage is a gift in that we give ourselves totally to one another. I believe that marriage is a gift given to comfort the sorrows of life and to magnify life’s joys. Marriage is the clasping of hands, the blending of two hearts, the union of two lives into one, and your marriage must stand, not by the authority of Italia, nor by the seal on your wedding certificate, but by the strength and power of the faith and love you have in one another." He paused for a moment, taking in the view of the couple and guests in front of him. "Now, will you please pass your flowers, turn and face one another and join hands to express your vows of love and devotion each to the other."
You turned around and looked at the maid of honor behind you, who was wearing a similar smile, and handed her the bouquet of peach peonies you were holding before turning back around. You turned back and looked at Chris, and gently took his hands in yours. You two looked into each others eyes and smiled so wide you both started giggling, causing the guests to laugh as well. It was only possible for you two to make such a romantic serious thing so silly.
"Chris, do you have some words?"
Chris cleared his throat and gave your hands a slight squeeze. He had been preparing his vows for years now, from the moment he realized that he wanted to marry you, but now, he was sure those words wouldn't even do justice. So he just spoke the truth.
"Our second Christmas together, years ago, I told you that I was lucky to have you. And I want you to know that as I stand here right now, I feel like the luckiest man alive." Chris said. "You are the love of my life and I have known that since the day I met you. There was never anyone or anything else, it was always you. It was always you that I wanted to wake up to in the morning, that I wanted to laugh with at 2 AM over the weirdest things, take drives with, cook with, it was always, and will always be you." You felt the tears brim your eyes, heart bursting with joy as Chris looked you in the eyes and spoke the truth. He smiled and so did you. "I would rather spend one lifetime with you, than face all of the ages of the world alone."
All of the guests cooed, awing and leaned into each other as Chris spoke. Everyone felt their hearts swell with happiness. As Chris finished off, the minister nodded and smiled. "(Y/n) do you have some words?"
There was no pulling out a card or paper with words scribbled on them from the past few weeks, you already knew what you had planned to say.
"In that book which is my memory, on the first page is the chapter when I first met you appear the words, "here begins a new life."" You recited Dante's words that keep a deep meaning in your heart. When you read those words, it had Chris' name printed all over it. "We met years ago. We met in London and that's the end of it all. There is no story of how I come to love through all of this time. I saw you one day I just knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you." You said, squeezing his hands with a bright smile. "I used to never believe in soulmates, that was something I used to be proud of. Now, I'm here today because you are the person that made me believe there was someone out there meant for me. And that's you." You nodded. "And I believe that's fate because out of the 8 million people in London, I had the blessing of meeting you. So, Chris, I'm so happy that the universe brought us together."
The minister nodded and smiled before continuing on the ceremony by reciting Corinthians. "The word of God tells us what love is like and what love does: Love is patient, love is kind, love is not jealous. Love does not brag and is not arrogant. It does not act unbecomingly. It does not seek its own, it is not provoked, and it does not take into account a wrong suffered. It does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth, for love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things, but above all, love never fails."
You felt your heart continue to swell. You couldn't believe this was actually happening.
"Having this kind of love in your hearts for one another, you have chosen to exchange rings as the sign and seal of the promises you are making to one another today."
Turning to look down the aisle, the guests aw'd and you and Chris smiled as two small children walked towards you both with suits on and each holding a pillow with individual rings. Your nephew, and Chris' nephew. You and Chris smiled widely and watched them approach you both before stopping right at the front of the crowd.
The minister turned to Chris. "Do you have a ring for (Y/n)? May I have the ring?" You and Chris dropped hands and he reached out, kissing his nephews forehead before taking the ring off of the pillow. He turned back and handed the ring to the minister.
"(Y/n), do you have a ring for Chris? May I have the ring?" You nodded and turned to your nephew, smiling at him before reaching out and taking the ring off of the pillow. She handed the ring back to the minister. He closed his fist tight and then repeated a message from his notes.
"Rings are very large in their significance. They are made of a precious metal and precious stone, and that reminds us that love is not cheap or common; but indeed love is very costly and dear to us. These rings are also made in a circle and their design tells us that we must keep love continuous throughout our whole lives even as the circle of the ring is continuous. As you wear these rings, whether you are together or apart for even just a moment, may these rings be a constant reminder of the promises you are making to one another this day." He turned to the groom. "Chris, will you please take this ring and place it upon the third finger of (y/n)'s left hand, and holding her hand in yours, please repeat this promise to her saying after me: With this ring, I seal my promise, to be your faithful and loving husband, as God is my witness."
The guests went silent for a moment as Chris took the ring from the ministers open palm. Hands shaking from the nerves, Chris gently laughed and took your hand in his. He held the ring between his index finger and thumb, and then gently slid it onto your third finger. "With this ring, I seal my promise, to be your faithful and loving husband, as God is my witness." Chris brought your hand to his lips and pressed a kiss to your knuckle.
It was a beautiful, simple ring that he had designed himself. Before he proposed, he asked you subtle questions about what kind of wedding ring you would like for months, and you didn't catch on. The weekend you were gone to look for a gown in London, he went to France to design the wedding ring. It was a pear-shaped halo ring with a set of round cut diamonds along the silver band, and perfectly set around the center diamond.
Looking down at your hand as he slid the ring across your finger, a wave of emotions hit you all at once. Your eyes flickered up to meet Chris' and you wanted to cry. He had put so much effort into the wedding it brought tears to your eyes.
The minister looked at you. "(Y/n), will you please take this ring and place it upon the third finger of Chris' left hand, and holding his hand in yours please repeat this promise to him saying after me: With this ring, I seal my promise, to be your faithful and loving wife, as God is my witness."
You nodded and took the silver wedding band out of his palm. You looked at Chris and took his hand, sliding the band over his third finger. "With this ring, I seal my promise, to be your faithful loving wife, as God is my witness." You smiled as the ring slid on fully. It was a special ring for Chris as well- a simple sterling silver band that he wanted, but there was a surprise engraved on the inside that he would have to take it off to see.
Everyone could sense the passion and love flowing between you both as they stood witness. There were giddy smiles and hopeful eyes.
"(Y/n) and Chris, you have come here today before us and before God and have expressed your desire to become husband and wife. You have shown your love and affection by joining hands, and have made promises of faith and devotion, each to the other, and have sealed these promises by the giving and the receiving of the rings. Therefore, it is my privilege as a minister and by the authority given to me by the law of Italia, I now pronounce that you are husband and wife." It was the cue. Chris reached out and slid an arm around your waist. But the minister hesitated and all of the guests laughed. It was clear that Chris was eager to kiss his wife.
The minister chuckled and closed his Bible. "Chris, you may kiss your bride."
And boy, did he.
You laughed as Chris pulled you flush against him and then proceeded to dip you down, letting your lips met. Everyone in the crowd chuckled and laughed loudly at Chris' swift move with you in his arms- as dramatic as he typically was. There was a whistle from the crowd as well. You both were mentally betting it was Ollie or Harry.
You laughed into the kiss before taking Chris' face in your hands and kissing him harder. When he brought you back to your feet, you wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed again. You couldn't believe this. You got to kiss him every day of your life. You got to kiss your husband.
When you two pulled apart in faint laughter, Chris pecked your lips again before you both turned to face the crowd of guest in front of you.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it is my privilege to introduce to you for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Dixon."
You looked out onto everyone on their feet, smiling and clapping for you both as you clutched Chris' hand. It was odd to remember that when you were a teenager, the last thing you wanted to do was get married. Now you were living with and married to the love of your life. It was insane what just a few years could bring.
Feeling Chris squeeze your hand, you two began to walk down the aisle of people. Everyone began to throw flower petals at you two as you walked down the aisle. You reached down with a free hand and picked up your gown to prevent tripping over it, and then you and Chris started jogging together. Everyone was snapping photos, laughing, or simply watching onto you both. Reaching the stairs that you had went down just minutes ago, Chris stopped mid-jog, bent down, and picked you up. With his arm tucked behind your knees, you laughed and threw your arms around his shoulders as he carried you up the steps.
When Chris reached the top of the steps, he turned around and you both looked at the wave of guests in front of you. You waved wildly at them before Chris continued on down the path with you in his arms.
The reception after the wedding ceremony turned out to be the highlight of the day. Chris kissing you too early and picking you up was pretty great, but the reception had a whole level of its own.
Everyone left the ceremony area and walked down the path next to the lake, admiring the view of the mountains and villas, and to the reception. Before everyone went to the tables where the food would be served, there was a small celebration in between. Along the path, next to the villa, was a large table stacked with champagne flutes. Everyone gathered together and grabbed their own champagne flute, and then all crowded around the couple to congratulate them, and share hugs, and kisses. It was all genuine smiles and hearty laughter all around.
Then as all of the guest made their way to their assigned tables, you and Chris snuck off to take the wedding photos. They were taken along several locations near the villa and lake, all using different poses and genuine smiles with the photographer. Taking their time with the photos, it gave all of the guest time to be settled in their seats, so after a few minutes, you and Chris slowly made your way back.
The reception was held outside on a large patio next to the grand steps leading into the villa, and Lake Como on the other side. It was beautiful. The tables had large centerpieces of flowers with twinkle lights inside to match the white table cloth with light designs along the bottom, and the name cards were printed off in embroidered gold with each name. There was twinkle lights hanging from the villa to the corners of the steps, emitting a beautiful glow in the late afternoon.
After being lead to the reception with a thunderous applause, you and Chris sat down at the designated table in front of everyone. The MC of the night, who was really just Tobi with a microphone, welcomed everyone and made the first toast of the afternoon. Then he called up the Best Man, Chris' best friend since secondary school, who had the best speech that was a mix of old memories that had everyone clutching their stomachs in laughter, but also a bit sentimental at the end. Followed by your Maid of Honor stepped up and gave a quick speech- well, you thought, and then it turned out to be a rap song that everyone was nodding along to. Then it was your father's turn, and he gave a nice word to Chris before the speeches wrapped up.
The food was also a highlight of the night- a buffet of meals sat up for everyone, along with complimentary wine and champagne buckets for each table. You had spent countless hours researching, calling, all for the best catering place in Italy near Lake Como. And as everyone was eating with a smile, you assumed you did well.
The part, besides the ceremony, that had everyone in awe, was the bride and groom's first dance. After eating and socializing with the guests, some of whom you had yet to see that day, you and Chris made your way onto the dance floor.
During the wedding planning, you had dealt with booking the location, the food, and guests, and the one thing you put Chris in charge of was the playlist for the night. Just like the ring he slid onto your finger an hour ago, he had a few tricks up his sleeve and surprises throughout the night. So as you walked hand-in-hand to the dance floor just below the steps, you weren't sure what song would come on.
However, when the first chord of the song played through the speakers, you looked directly at Chris with a shocked look on your face.
Throughout the relationship you had dropped hints of the songs you loved, saying that you would love to have them played at your wedding in the future. And Chris did much of the same.
The song Chris chose for the first dance, was the same song you two danced to in the kitchen at 2 AM right after you two moved in together; Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You by Frankie Valli. The song held a special place in your heart, and now you look back on the memory and smile. You couldn't believe it. The same song you danced to with Chris in the refrigerator light of the kitchen is the same song you danced to at your wedding. Your heart was pounding.
Taking your hand in his, you placed your other hand on Chris' shoulder, and you two danced smoothly across the floor. Each step was precise, smooth, and it was like you two had practiced for months ahead of time. Well, practice does make perfect.
"You're just too good to be true, I can't take my eyes off of you. You'd be like heaven to touch, I wanna hold you so much. At long, last love has arrived, and I thank God I'm alive.." Frankie Valli's voice floated through the patio area.
The twinkle lights set the perfect mood for the first dance as you and Chris danced together. Your bodies were inches apart, hands clasped as Chris' free hand rested on the curve of your waist. It was such an intimate moment, the entire patio was quiet. Some of the guest were pulling out phones and cameras, taking photos or pictures, or simply admiring the moment of beauty in front of them.
"Pardon the way that I stare, there's nothing else to compare. The sight of you leaves me weak, there are no words left to speak." You met Chris' eyes and smiled brightly at him, your heart feeling as happy as ever. He chuckled at your smile before he placed a soft kiss on your forehead. "But if you feel like I feel, please let me know that it's real. You're just too good to be true, I can't take my eyes off of you."
Chris took a step back and used the speed of your rocks to spin you around at the upbeat part of the song. You smiled, twirling softly to the music and whistles from the guest, before he pulled you back into him. This time you two were further apart, but the dance picked up. You two were moving faster and faster across the dance floor with each smooth step. Following his lead, you looked at Chris and when you both met eyes, he began to sing to you.
"I love you baby, and if it's quite alright, I need you baby. To the warm and lonely nights, I love you baby, trust me when I say.."
All of the guests were rocking to the music, some dancing or swaying in their seats. Your mum and dad were in each others arms, smiling as they watched you, their only daughter and joy, have her first dance.
"Oh pretty baby, don't bring me down I pray. Oh pretty baby, now that I've found you, stay, and let me love you baby, let me love you." Chris sang to you, eyes full of love and pure bliss as he watched you smile and hear you slightly giggle at his singing voice. He felt a rush of happiness straight to the heart with you, his wife.
With one last twirl Chris, this time, pulled you into him. Your body was flush against his, arm tucked under his to press flat against his shoulder, and he held you by placing a warm hand on your lower back. You two continued to sway and the music died down to the piano once again, and Chris continued to sing to you.
"You're just too good to be true, I can't take my eyes off of you. You'd be like heaven to touch, I wanna hold you so much. At long, last love has arrived, and I think God I'm alive.. You're just too good to be true, I can't take my eyes off of you."
And just like that night at 2 AM, dancing in the kitchen in the refrigerator light when the song ended, Chris kissed the tip of your nose. You giggled and he laughed.
"I adore you." Chris repeated your exact words from that night, raising a hand to tuck a lock of hair behind your ear.
You raised a hand to cuff his, running your fingers along the top of his hand. "I love you." You whispered.
"I love you too." He said before pressing a soft, but loving kiss against your lips.
A second later as the song slowed down to a quiet whisper, an eruption of applause echoed around the patio. You and Chris laughed, sharing one last kiss before turning around and looking at everyone. It was not even a second later that Baby Got Back came on, replacing the first dance song, and the bridesmaids and groomsmen started their way onto the floor.
"Come on," you grabbed Chris' hand, "before we get drug into this." He chuckled and followed your lead.
The rest of the reception was much like the wedding ceremony, it went by without a problem. After a few dance numbers from the bridesmaids and the groomsmen's attempts at rapping, everyone flooded the dance floor for a night of fun. The playlist had everyone swaying in their seat or waving their arms on the dance floor.
After a bit of dancing, it was time for the garter and the bouquet tossing. The groomsmen were first and you watched as Chris tossed the (very expensive) garter over his head, and it landed straight in Josh's hands. It might have just been because the others immediately ran with the garter was thrown, and it went directly to him. When it was the bridesmaids turn, you knew exactly who you were throwing it too, especially after Josh caught the garter. Standing on the dance floor, you faked throwing the bouquet over your head and instead turned around and threw it straight to Freya. Everyone laughed at the move while Josh and Freya only shook their heads at the hints that were thrown.
Then it was the cake. Everyone gathered around the large table and you and Chris cut the cake together. It was a small cake, nothing too big or too extravagent compared to the rest of the wedding. It was just a two-tier, textured buttercream cake with fondant flowers and ruffles. And of course, just as you predicted it to happen, Chris shoved the cake into your mouth, and you did the same to him. Smearing the frosting across his lips, he chuckled before reaching out and using the heels of his palms to hold your face, and then kissed you with a large smile. You laughed against his lips as you kissed him, feeling the frosting pressing against the tip of your nose.
"Oh my goodness," your mother laughed while helping you wipe the frosting off your nose and chin.
"I know." You laughed, wiping off your hands on the napkin. "I knew he would do it, so I did it to him too."
"Well, I'm certainly not going to say it wasn't funny." She lightly laughed and you shook your head. "But I do know one thing," she folded the napkin in her palm and held your face tenderly in her hands. You looked into her eyes and she smiled at you. "You got yourself a good one, dear."
You nodded. "I know. I think soo too." You said before glancing at Chris who was chuckling with Simon and Cal across the dance floor. He was certainly something else.
Even though you thought most of the night was over, Chris had one last thing up his sleeve. You were walking around the patio, talking to those you had yet to see, and thanking them for coming. There was still endless hugs and cheek kisses to go around, even hours into the wedding reception.
As the sun began to set, Chris knew that it was time for his last surprise of the night. He walked over to Tobi who had the microphone and asked for it, telling everyone to please take their seats, except you. You stood at a table next to your grandparents when Chris called you out once again, leaving you in a confused state as you walked to the dance floor again. You were confused, but still looked at Chris with a hopeful smile. When he handed the microphone back to Tobi whom was sat up next to the lake edge, Chris took your hand and guided you across the dance floor and straight to the steps of the villa. All of the eyes from the patio were on you both.
Looking up at the stairs, along the surface between steps, sat a white grand piano. It had been placed there by workers of the Villa during the cutting of the cake. You had no idea what was going on until Chris guided you over by the hand, and straight up the steps to the piano.
"Chris.." you trailed off as you both reached the piano.
"Just trust me, okay?" He said, breaking loose of your hand and lowered down onto the piano bench. You pressed your hip against the piano, resting your arm on top as you watched him closely. "I wanted to make this day as special as possible."
Ever since you encouraged Chris into learning how to play the piano, he took advantage of the piano you both had. He had spent countless days in there learning songs to play them for you, but you never expected this. Since he proposed in Paris years ago, Chris decided to dedicate his free time at home, to learn one of your favorite songs. You adored the song and it always brought you to tears every time you heard it. So Chris made it a priority of his to learn the song for this special day.
At the first key, that's when it hit you. You had no idea Chris was going to play this song on the piano for you, hell, you didn't even know there was going to be a piano. But at the sound of the first key of the song, you stared at Chris in complete awe as tears formed in your eyes.
"Whether near or far, I am always yours. Any change in time, we are young again.."
Chris was always poked fun of for his singing, many times it was you jokingly telling him to "stick to his day job" but at this moment, as he sang your favorite song, you swore you had never heard a voice more beautiful.
Your heart felt heavy, listening to the love of your life sing and focus on the piano keys as he played. There was something so raw, so real and true about the song that simply made you feel in love. And as you watched your husband, oh your husband, sing the song especially for you, you felt a new love for Chris, deeper than you ever imagined.
"Lay us down, we're in love.. lay us down, we're in love.."
When Chris gained confidence with his fingers, he looked up at you and saw the tears forming in your eyes. He smiled, fighting back his own emotions; you were his wife. The beautiful, sweet creature leaning against the piano in a white gown was you, and you was his wife. Chris would never be able to wrap his mind around that.
He smiled again before looking back down at his hands, continuing to play the right keys. Everyone on the patio, or the lawn near the reception, stopped their movements, their batting eyes and conversations, and sat in pure awe of the scene in front of them. Even Harry, who was already three drinks down and having the time of his life, stood still with every emotion of love running through him. A stranger could waltz in and feel the amount of love between the married couple.
"In these coming years many things will change, but the way I feel will remain the same.." Chris' fingers moved to a different set of keys. "Lay us down, we're in love.. lay us down, we're in love.."
When Chris finished off the song with a piano solo, the guest erupted into a thunderous applause. You swiftly moved around the piano and wrapped your arms around Chris' shoulders, body nearly shuddering as the tears slipped down your cheeks. Chris buried his face in your neck and his arms instinctively slithered around your waist, holding you close.
You loved that song, so much, but now you loved it even more. Now it was yours and Chris' song, and that was all that mattered. Even singing someone else's words, you felt the raw emotion of Chris' voice as he told you how much he loved you. And you felt nothing but love for Chris back, but ten times stronger.
"Don't cry on me, love." Chris chuckled lightly, kissing your cheek.
You sniffled and leaned back, wiping your eyes before laughing through the tears. "I love you so much."
Chris nodded, nestling his nose agains yours. "I love you too."
To end the day's celebrations, the marriage between you and Chris, everyone gathered back on the patio where the ceremony was held earlier in the day. The sun had set long before and everyone was wrapped in coats or small blankets to fight off the chill in the wind, others were finishing off drinks, and all leaning against each other for support. They gathered to watch the very end of the celebrations; a firework show above Lake Como.
You and Chris stood in front of everyone, one arm around the other and watched the show. Around you the young ones were running around with sparklers, making designs in the darkness and giggling.
Watching the fireworks explode in the sky, Chris' arm dropped down from your shoulders to your waist, pulling you against him. He kissed your temple and smiled. "I'm so glad I got to marry you." He whispered and you smiled before sharing a kiss.
"By the way," you said when your lips broke apart, "nice Lord Of The Rings reference in your vows earlier."
Chris chuckled. "I was hoping you would catch on." He said before you two shared one more kiss and continued to watch the fireworks explode into an array of colors and beauty in the dark sky.
Towards end of the firework show, Tobi stood to the side and watched as everyone smiled up at the sky. Even though he had been the MC, he had the best night with his friends. It was a magical day, something he will always remember, and he was sure everyone would agree. It was full of laughter and smiles, love, and joy for everyone in attendance.
"Ladies and gentlemen, today we experienced the death of a bachelor."

you make me happy
chris woke up at the break of dawn sunday morning. his natural clock kicked him awake after weeks of traveling and early mornings, and there was no return to a deep slumber.
the bed was warm and shielded him from the cool atmosphere of the room. a faint orange glow projected onto the sheer curtains and danced across the hardwood floors. the dog rested next to the bed and snored lightly. and you were laying beside him, legs pressed together and searching for warmth, and peaceful.
chris shifted his head and looked at you. you were laying on your stomach, side of your face pressed against the pillow with an arm up and placed between your pillow and his. he watched as you shoulders raised and fell slowly, peacefully as you were in a deep slumber.
he admired you as you rested sound asleep with your face nestled into the crook of your elbow- your cheekbones, the freckles that danced across your cheeks and eyelids, tousled hair on the pillow and drifting across your shoulders, and your long lashes. then there was the small cut above your eyebrow from a childhood bike wreck, and the bump on your nose from breaking it twice. there was so much about you that chris couldn’t take in.
he loved moments like these. you were so beautiful yet completely unaware of it.
