When I was a kid my family pretended to get raptured so I would think I was left behind on earth while they all went to heaven.

I was like 8 years old and my sister and mom had gotten really into the Left Behind novels (bible fan fic about the rapture). In the books when the rapture happened the clothes that people were wearing when they got raptured were left behind in neatly folded piles.

One day when I was getting home from school my family decided that they would leave piles of neatly folded clothes around the house, and then hide in the basement.

The intended effect was that I would get home and see the clothes then, think that my family had been raptured and that I wasn’t good enough to get into heaven… or something?

The problem was that I had never read these books, and didn’t really think about the rapture very often. There was no reason that I would see some laundry on the floor and think “The rapture happened and I’ve been abandoned by God! I’ll never see my family again!! Oh nooo!!!!”

I just sat down and watched cartoons and eventually my family got bored and revealed that they were all hiding in the basement.

It’s a good thing I didn’t understand the joke, otherwise that shit would have been traumatic.

the majority of this lent and ramadan will overlap and i already know i will spend every single second of every single day thinking about those who will have to fast on empty stomachs. those who have been fasting since october. those who won’t be able to pray without constant bombardment. those who have lost too much to even be able to enjoy breaking their fast with loved ones ): … no prayer no food no water no loved ones . all our joys are being destroyed in the name of evil.

A fact about my ocs Neal and Christian.

Neal is scared of doctors and hospitals, so much so that he tries to avoid going to the doctor’s office and hospital, even for check ups. Christian is pretty calm and reassures Neal when he’s scared. He also is the one who convinces him to get medicine and medical care.

Christian has also stopped Neal from leaving the hospital after waking up.

Mechanics include!

• two lives. you get one respawn, but you must wait three in game days to use it- or for extra challenge mode, three sessions

• the only food you can eat is bread. to gain the golden apple effect, you must drink a potion of wine. if you find fish, you can infinitely dupe them and eat them, but there are only two on the whole server! good luck

• new weapon: nail gun

• new server member: fWhip. like whips. he has admin and can smite players for half their health whenever he wants

• instead of a boogeyman, every session a judas is chosen. this judas must betray a member of their alliance. if they succeed, they get 30 iron ingots. if they fail, fwhip smites them

• the alliances are named after different sects of christianity/catholicism

skizz dies first, because rule of three. dies three days in, respawns in three days, dies three days later. angel boy is the first victim of Jesus Life.

cleo gets third place because she’s used to coming back. yknow. zombie. martyn gets fourth because she punches him off a cliff. Three seasons later! three continues to shine

joel wins by getting judas and betraying rendog. this is because that man keeps making organized religion in servers i think he can win Jesus Life. this is added to by the fact that apparently rendog is Jesus Christ so it would be judas betraying Jesus. thank you for coming to my TED Talk

I can’t be the only one who’s tired of modern capitaliszed Christmas and yearns for the old darker version of Christmas when people needed some form of joy and warmth to get them through the harsh cold, right?

I live in Florida so, I don’t get snowfall, or much cool weather at all. But I feel like this whole country has kind of lost sight of the origins of Christmas, whether that be the Pagan holiday or the Christian version.

I really want to move somewhere that gives me Carol of the Bells or God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman vibes in winter y’know? That sort of hauntingly beautiful candlelit lamppost wreathes and pine trees and smoking chimneys Christmas. I dunno, just a thought🤷

thinking about how in the legally blonde musical, warner and callaghan are the only main characters to not reprise another character’s melody. elle reprises serious, a song warner made into a solo while elle wanted to make it a duet; emmett reprises elle’s “what about love” from what you want; vivienne and brooke reprise legally blonde; even emmett reprises omigod you guys at the end of the show. whether this was intentional to showcase their selfishness or not, it’s still really interesting how every other character at some point sings parts that other characters have sung previously in the show.
