when the month of october rolled around, GLASSHOUSE released a statement they will have their annual halloween special merged with KALEIDA and its own artists this year; the glass café, intended for the fans to take a closer look at both companies’ artists and have a chance to get served by them! the café looked like any other café – inspired by japanese host cafés, where you could meet your favourite artist and have a talk with them, while also grab a bite to eat! it was adorned with creepy dolls and skeletons, and drinks were named after the artists’ favourite horror movies. after six o’clock, the café would partly close and move to the building next door, where their escape horror house would officially begin! the company’s artists and professional teams would scare the guests and perform interesting acts for others. glasshouse inc. released an intriguing video two weeks before halloween explaining how to be the one to win a ticket to their café! you would pre-order a ticket like it’s a regular horror house, but the winners would be randomised so that everyone would get a chance to win! the customers would come in groups of fifteen to twenty people and stay there for approximately an hour. you would choose whether you want to be there during the day or at night. the people who didn’t win a ticket would then be sent an album of their choice from one of the company’s artists instead. a long video was released on their youtube page so that even international fans would enjoy halloween with their idols!

BRUCE TIMM & DWAYNE MCDUFFIE’S DC ANIMATED MASTERPIECE COMES TO 4K ULTRA HDTM
FOR THE FIRST TIME ON APRIL 18, 2023
BURBANK, CA (February 15, 2023) – One of the Man of Steel’s most personal tales in DC history – from the mind of comics icon Grant Morrison, and produced under the expert oversight of animation legends Bruce Timm and Dwayne McDuffie – All-Star Superman will be available to own on 4K Ultra HD for the very first time on April 18, 2023 from Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.
Grant Morrison's beloved, Eisner Award-winning vision of Superman's heroic final days on Earth is brought to exquisite, animated life in All-Star Superman. The film begins as the Man of Steel rescues an ill-fated mission to the Sun (sabotaged by Lex Luthor) but, in the process, is oversaturated by radiation - which accelerates his cell degeneration. Sensing even he will be unable to cheat death, Superman ventures into new realms - finally revealing his secret to Lois, confronting Lex Luthor's perspective of humanity, and attempting to ensure Earth's safety before his own impending end with one final, selfless act.
Twelve years after its initial release, All-Star Superman holds a “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film was the 10th in the ongoing series of DC Universe Movies and DC Animated Movies that now number more than 50 films across 17 years.
The star-studded voice cast is headed by James Denton (Good Witch, Desperate Housewives), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men, Good Girls) and Anthony LaPaglia (Without A Trace) as Superman, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, respectively. Other noteworthy cast members are seven-time Emmy Award winner Ed Asner (Up, Elf, The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as Perry White, Golden Globe winner Frances Conroy (American Horror Story, Joker, Six Feet Under) as Ma Kent, Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds, Alvin and the Chipmunks franchise) as Jimmy Olsen and Linda Cardellini (Avengers: Endgame, Dead to Me, ER) as Nasty.
Rounding out the impressive cast are Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy), Steve Blum (Star Wars: Rebels, Cowboy Bebop, Naruto), Catherine Cavadini (Elvis, Soul, The Powerpuff Girls), Finola Hughes (General Hospital, Staying Alive), Alexis Denisof (Guardians of the Galaxy, Angel), Obba Babatunde (S.W.A.T., That Thing You Do!), John DiMaggio (Futurama, Interview with the Vampire), Chris Cox (Family Guy), Robin Atkin Downes (The Strain, Batman: The Long Halloween), Kevin Michael Richardson (Mortal Kombat, The Simpsons), Fred Tatasciore (Star Trek: Lower Decks, American Dad!) and Michael Gough (Overwatch, Batman: Arkham Origins).
All-Star Superman is executive produced by animation guru Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series) and directed by Sam Liu (Batman: The Killing Joke, The Death and Return of Superman) from a script by acclaimed animation/comics writer Dwayne McDuffie (Static Shock, Justice League/Justice League Unlimited).
McDuffie, an incomparable force in the comics and animation realm, was a co-founder of Milestone Media, the industry’s most successful minority-owned-and-operated comic company. His creations are headlined by Static Shock, for which he won a Humanitas Prize in 2003, and he served as producer in helping guide the beloved Justice League/Justice League Unlimited animated series. McDuffie passed away in 2011 at the age of 49.
All-Star Superman will be available to purchase April 18, 2023 on 4K Ultra HD both online and in-store at major retailers.

I literally will c&p from goodreads if my review there make any sense.
circe (madeleine miller) - miller does it again. greek mythology and I have had a strained, rocky relationship since forced to study renault’s The King Must Die in high school freshman year. somehow with an incredible talent for both scope and attention to detail, miller carves out ruthless, bloodthirsty tales of Greek godhood meets greek mortality with delicacy and fragility. the result is a captivating, irresistible read. I couldn’t get enough of circe despite her generations of flaws and naivety then brutality and self flagellation. the best part is that all of it is not in vain; that circe attains the perfect closure that she would ever desire and isn’t that the best ending we can ask for? I think this is favourite no.2 so far this year.
warcross (marie lu) - this book is so close to 5 stars for me it hurts (really a 4.5 more than anything). the first in its series engaged me right off the bat even with its usual y.a. tropes: down on her luck protagonist, life changes when she catches the eye of young-rich-genius-tall-dark-handsome CEO/creator/programmer (I’m not one to talk; I’m all for young-rich-handsome-genius ceos guffaws stupidly). the futuristic virtual gaming reality intertwined with reality was interesting and fun. the twists, though predictable, were also fun. however, what didn’t work for me were two things: 1) the romance and 2) the agreement to keep things on the dl and then having all actions of the protagonist pretty much disregard it. granted, the romance part was kind of redeemed at the end...I still feel like I didn’t need the little onsen getaway; no matter how nice onsens are.
vassa in the night (sarah porter) - firstly, I have no preliminary understanding or knowledge of Russian folklore from which Vassa in the Night is based on. so to me, many things had no explanation and some narrative strands that were introduced actually didn’t provide any more insight to the story than mere random conjecture. it was pretty bloody and gruesome; I don’t like dolls; yet, I still enjoyed this weird, crazy, bizarre story.
autoboyography (christina lauren) - disclaimer: I don’t actually like reading drama genre literature. although, there are exceptions. one can tell a lot of heart went into this: the writing truly captures the melodramatic uncertainty of teenage life and sexuality alongside the wider subject of religion and societal acceptance. I don’t know much about Mormonism besides a scattering or stereotypes from when I used to live in the states, so I’d say that this book was quite a gentle and unbiased look into the religion, its believers and their doctrine. barring the serious bad rebounding (god what is with rebounding it makes me cringe) I cared for both tanner and sebastian enough to invest in their relationship and even cross my fingers for a happily ever after for them. I will be picky and say that there was a little too much perfection going for both protagonists, but was willing to overlook it for all the angsty boypain. overall, a sweet composition tackling issues in a genuine manner and a romance to fall and root for.
chainbreaker (timekeeper #2) (tara sim) - chainbreaker is a solid sequel to the first of its trilogy and it is not just a mere stepping stone for the finale, which is a joy to divulge in. there are some clever developments that move the original characters along. that doesn’t stop the fact that new characters are just as interesting and worth investing some time and emotion into. it’s a pretty crazy universe but I do love the historical fiction/steampunk/fantasy mashup. it works for me and I am excited to see what’s next in book three.
the tea girl of hummingbird lane (lisa see) - please see disclaimer in bold above. there are many great elements to this novel that I can appreciate: the effects of culture and tradition of a minority group on a young, ambitious girl who strives to do and go beyond what is expected of her, the Cultural Revolution, the love and research into tea, specifically pu’er, how people can grow (for the better and for the worse) alongside societal changes. however, I had a particularly hard time reading past the first part. I can’t put my finger on exactly what, besides the fact this kind of drama literature isn’t my cup of tea... (haha bad pun soz)
the lady’s guide to petticoats and piracy (montague siblings #2) (mackenzi lee) - you guys, I loved this sequel so much; what fun this was...! though I have to admit: the sentiment wasn’t the same from beginning to end. it took me a while to get into Felicity’s narrative but once she left London and went into cahoots with Sim and Johanna, I was sold. while monty lacked drive, felicity is all determination and stubborn will, and I enjoyed how the book addresses what is her strength is also her biggest weakness, a double-edge sword. I’m always a big fan of historical fiction in the 19th century despite the loose references being made. the intertwined focus of medicine and naturalism is great; some good research has obviously been made to ground the novel. above all though is how much I loved the gradual teamwork between the three women—their interactions, their combined strength from their own differences and inner will... truly a delightful read. I mean who doesn’t like pirates?!
Hello, there! I love Anya Taylor-Joy so much since she looks like an actual fairy princess, but I don't think I should use her as a faceclaim for all my characters. Do you have faceclaim suggestions of other people who have her vibes or similar features? POCs options, especially, please! Thank you so much!

DARK SHADOWS AND BEYOND: THE JONATHAN FRID STORY - Review
DISTRIBUTOR: MPI Media Group
SYNOPSIS: Actor Jonathan Frid, an accomplished classically trained stage performer, is soon thrust into the sport after the debut on ABC-TV in 1966, “Dark Shadows.” He quickly gained devoted fans, who were thrilled by the eerie goings-on at the haunted Collinwood estate in Maine. His breakout character was Barnabas Collins, a 175-year-old vampire, who is unintentionally released from his chained coffin. The series broke the rules of traditional soap operas by blending stories of gothic romance, horror and the supernatural. “Dark Shadows” featured storylines that centered on ghosts, witches, demonic possession, and time travel. The documentary sheds some light on the life of actor Jonathan Frid before and after his time as Barnabas Collins, a ro;le he would be associated with long after the series was canceled.
REVIEW: I was one of those kids who would hurry home from school to watch “Dark Shadows.” During the summer I can remember sitting on the coach with my grandmother and mother watching the show on our not so great black and white TV in our summer house. I remember reading a couple of the novelizations, I had the record they produced, and saw both movies in the theater. I believe there might have been a gum card/trading card set as I vaguely remember having collected them. Oh, and I had one of the games based on the show. It had something to do with building a skeleton from the bones you had to draw from Barnabas’s coffin. I wasn’t a fanatic, but I was a fan.
Years later, in my twenties, I heard about the one man shows Frid performed and had the pleasure to attend two of them. Those shows gave me a richer appreciation of the actor as he created several characters during the course of the live performance. I particularly enjoy his readings of Edgar Allan Poe and other darker stories.
Having lived through all this I was eager to view this new documentary.
DARK SHADOWS AND BEYOND: THE JONATHAN FRID STORY is an epic accounting of Jonathan Frid’s life and the film lived up to my expectations as an all encompassing documentary. It provides a lot of insight into the man before his becoming involved with the show. There are many interesting prospects provided through interviews and through letters he had written to his mother and father in his early days of acting. What becomes clear his is love for performing, be it a small or large stage. The film reminded me of a few things that I had forgotten, such as his appearing on Broadway in “Arsenic and Old Lace” and that he also starred in a horror film, other than the “Dark Shadow” films.
The film does an excellent job of presenting this well rounded picture of a talented actor and a generous man. It also checks all the boxes of a good documentary. It is informative, entertaining, and provided me with some details I wasn't familiar with before. There is just a wealth of images from throughout his life, interviews with friends, family and colleagues that cover his entire life. I was fascinated by the whole story of the South American fascination with the show and things that happened when he appeared there to promote the show.
Clearly a labor of love and a tribute to a unique human being, DARK SHADOWS AND BEYOND: THE JONATHAN FRID STORY is an excellent documentary that fully explores the life of a gifted actor. While it was an informative trip down memory lane for me, my 18 year-old found it equally as engaging and sparked her interest in seeing the series, a testament to the filmmakers’ achievement. “Dark Shadows” is available on several platforms, it would be nice if someone cleaned them up or restored them, if that is even possible. Given all the vampire shows that have come and gone since then, the “DARK SHADOW” episodes are fun to revisit with the family and a pleasure to watch the legacy of Jonathan Frid’s work.
My only disappointment is that I wish there were better credits on the film. They are limited and it would be nice to know more of the names associated with this project that were behind the camera.
CAST (Interviews): Dick Cavett, Louis Edmonds, Anthony, Aerbe, Dan Curtis, Lara Parker, Marie Wallace, Christina Pickles, Mary O’Leary and other former cast members, relatives and friends.

Escrita y producida por Taussig y dirigida y producida por Randall Einhorn (The Office, Parks and Recreation).
