A NONSENSE CHRISTMAS ❄️⛄🎁 ↳ lines from sabrina carpenter's nonsense christmas remix.
"think i only want you under my mistletoe."
"i might change your contact to 'has a huge north pole'."
"you said you like my stockings better on the floor."
"[gendered term], i've been a bad [gendered term], i guess i'm getting coal."
"let me come warm you up, you've been out in the snow."
"baby, my tongue goes numb, sounds like ho ho ho."
"i don't want santa's elves underneath this ol' tree."
"here's a little carol i wrote, it's about you and me."
"you're my wishlist."
"looking at you got me thinking christmas."
"snowflakes in my stomach when we're kissing."
"when you're coming down the chimney, oh it feels so good."
"you'll be santa claus and i'll be mrs." // "you'll be mrs. claus and i'll be santa."
"i'll take you for a ride."
"i'll be your vixen."
"i don't even know, i'm talking christmas."
"i'm talking decking all the halls."
"i'm talking spiking egg nog."
"i'm talking opposite of small."
"i'm talking big snow balls."
"you got a new toy for me."
"i'm out here trimming the tree."
"i caught that holiday glee."
"my true love gave it to me."
"look at all those presents."
"that's a big sack."
"that package is too big to gift wrap."
"how quickly can you build a snowman? think fast."

HAPPY NEW YEARS AND CHRISTMAS
i have very much fallen behind, so i will give 3 detailed headcanons about each of the holidays mentioned above
CHRISTMAS
morrigan is still learning all of the more popular Christmas carols of the Free State, and prefers them to the ones learned in the Republic. but, every so often, she’ll teach her favorites to the Frank to perform (she only writes them because she dislikes singing and feels silly when she does it, but she can help him get the melody right). sometimes they remix the republic ones because they’re a bit boring and push a controlled narrative, so they replace some of them making fun of the republic if they’re feeling adventurous (jack is the best at it)
they like to mix up different hot cocoa flavors, like putting melted candies in them or coffee creamers. the golden lantern bartender and chef honey(something) host a little competition where the contestants are blindfolded and given hot cocoa, then they have to guess what’s in it. it’s very difficult for everyone, and jupiter understandably has to stay out of it occasionally.
they decorate a Christmas tree with memorabilia of the past christmas parties hosted by frank (ex: a needle felted squirrel for the woodland animals party). there are so many now that there’s a specific tree for all of them in the staff room. it also takes a long time because you can never stop Jupiter to shop reminiscing about each ornament. everyone is always tired of it but morrigan because she wants to know everything about what went on when she wasn’t there so she can feel like she experienced them.
NEW YEARS
sidenote/ i know they don’t really have new years or our equivalent but this is what i imagine it would be like!
they do a similar thing to hot cocoa on new years but instead of a contest they each choose a favorite bubbly drink (none of them have alcohol) and drink them at midnight. they also choose a fancy glass and decorations like edible glitter and cocktail umbrellas.
they make a pillow fort (that’s how the deaucalion knew to use it when they were stressed about the hollowpox) and wait for midnight there, then go to sleep later. they each get a new blanket every year to add to it that relates to their New Year’s resolution.(ex: more clean would be a blanket with sparkles)
they have a tree similar to a Christmas tree where they write their New Year’s resolution and the year on a popsicle stick and decorate accordingly. if you have too many to fit in there you get a mini tree to put your past ones on.
WHEW! that took awhile! sorry for going missing for so long, one of my resolutions will be to stay consistent. divine blessings, all!

Mission: Jingle Bells — VoicePlay music video
youtube
After the events of "Panic! in 4 Minutes" (and its prequel "Trapped" that they hadn't filmed yet), you might think the VoicePlay guys would be more vigilant against being abducted. But no, they've gotten kidnapped and tied to a circle of chairs again. At least this time their captor isn't actively trying to kill them. He just wants a private performance… or else.
Details:
title: Mission: Jingle Bells
original songs / performers: theme from Mission: Impossible; traditional American carol "Jingle Bells"; rap verse inspired by "Dopeness" by the Black Eyed Peas
written by: Mission: Impossible theme by Lalo Schifrin; "Jingle Bells" by James Lord Pierpont
arranged by: Layne Stein
release date: 21 December 2018
My favorite bits:
the group being awakened by Earl, Eli, and J.None singing in three part harmony
Geoff busting out that iconic bass line
the extra bindings securing Earl's beefy legs (and the gift bow on the end of his beard)
J.None singing those happy lyrics to the M:I minor key melody
the lovely bell chord for ♫ "laughing all the wa-a-ay" ♫
the increasing concern on Geoff's face as their captor puts him through his bassy paces
J figuring out a loophole by speaking to the beat
Layne's percussion under the rap switching from resonant wood block sounds to quick high hats to ramp up the tension
the cautious ♫ "Time… to… get… out" ♫ from Eli inspiring everyone to pull against their bonds
Earl hitting that sky-high ♫ "jingle BEEELLS" ♫
the syncopated harmonies from Eli and J
that crisp diction in the final chorus
"Someone's coming to untie us, right?" 😟
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trivia:
○ Like most of the spoken dialogue in VoicePlay's music videos, the kidnapper is voiced by Eli. The mystery person at the computer equipment is Kathy.
○ The guys have never released a conventional version of "Jingle Bells", but they have done serveral creative things with it:
They performed a fun remix as a commercial bumper during the Sing-Off season 4 finale.
They did a Bollywood-inspired version on their 2012 holiday album, "Peppermint Winter".
And, of course, they included an excerpt in their "Most of the Songs" holiday medley that they performed at seasonal shows, including their three annual residencies at Disney World for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.
○ VoicePlay later included the Mission: Impossible theme in their "Aca Top 10 – Movie Themes" countdown with guest Rob Lundquist from Home Free.
○ The fellas made some festive hostage-note-style promo posters that they posted to their individual social media accounts. (Though I can't find J.None's anywhere.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
○ This video was commissioned by Paramount Studios as part of the advertising campaign for the home media release of Mission: Impossible – Fallout, the sixth movie in the series.
○ Instead of a note in the YouTube description, they posted a comment reading: "MERRY CHRISTMAS! This video was sponsored by Mission: Impossible – Fallout — If you're looking for something INCREDIBLE to watch this holiday season with all of your fav secret agents, 😎 👉 http://paramnt.us/Get.Fallout. Today (This comment will self destruct in 5 seconds)."
○ The video won a 2019 Clio award, the industry awards for advertising. The coordinating agency, Think Jam Inc., took home a bronze in the Home Entertainment: Original Content category.
○ Earl got a little lost in the sauce when he picked up breakfast for the guys and their crew on the way to the filming location.

Steve’s Christmas Miracle Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Steve found himself back in his living room, with Darcy and Natasha lounging on his sofa, looking him over with great scrutiny. Peggy was still beside him.
“I guess that means it’s my turn,” Darcy declared, popping up from the couch and heading toward Steve. “Now, I’ll warn you, I’m still new at this, so I have to use physical touch to transport us. It might get a little jerky.”
She held out her hand with a winning smile and Steve took it with some trepidation. Much to his surprise, it felt warm and soft, not cold and clammy like he’d expected a ghostly hand to feel.
“Ohh, you’ve got huge hands!” she blurted and then immediately turned red. “Sorry, new at this!”
Steve was chuckling as they disappeared.
They appeared in a pristine room that was occupied by a small boy in a hospital bed. He had no hair and looked frail, but his smile was bright as he played with his Captain America action figure. A large poster of Steve adorned the wall and a man sat by the child’s bed.
“Is it true Captain America Steve went to the moon, daddy?” the boy asked. “I miss him.”
“I don’t know, Blake,” the father replied. “I think that’s just a rumor someone spread about him. It’s kinda hard to live on the moon.”
Blake chuckled faintly.
“Yeah. I wonder if he’s dead and they’re trying to keep it a secret. I never did get to meet him cause I was too sick. He’s my hero. I like that he fought bullies even when he was skinny and small like me. Makes me feel like I can do anything! I’m gonna ask Santa if he could bring Steve to visit me sometime.”
Blake’s dad swallowed hard and Steve could see him fighting back tears. He clenched his fists to keep back his own emotion, mentally making a note to visit all the pediatric units he could and try to meet this brave young man.
“Please tell me he lives.” He said tensely.
Darcy gave him a pained look.
“I wish I could, Steve,” she said sadly.
“It’s not fair.” He whispered, eyes welling up.
Darcy grasped his hand again in a comforting touch.
“I know, Steve. I know.” The look in her eyes told him she did now, all too well.
The scene changed and they were in a comfortable family home, watching three enthusiastic kids opening their presents. Steve noted that there appeared to be four generations present, as a small elderly woman sat in a wheelchair, beaming happily at the children’s joyous discoveries.
One of the girls got a giant poster of Steve and Natasha and squealed with glee!!
“OMG! My favorites! Thanks, Dad! See, Nana Maggie?”
She held it up to show her great grandma, who beamed with approval.
“Steve Rogers, looking fine as ever even after 80 years,” she sighed. “Did I ever tell you about the time he saved me from some creepy men?”
“No? Did he throw his shield at them?” the little girl asked.
Nana Maggie laughed and shook her head.
“No, honey. He didn’t have the shield yet. But he still scared the crap out of those jerks, even though he was half their size.”
The other adults in the room smiled knowingly at each other, having heard the story before, but the kids’ attention was fully on Nana.
“Will you tell us, please, Nana?”
“Oh, alright, Jenny,” she agreed good-naturedly. “It happened a few months before he left for the war and hadn’t yet had the serum. I was about eleven years old at the time and was on my way home from school when a couple of local toughs decided to block my way and try to scare me. Just when I was ready to turn and run, I heard this voice beside me saying “Leave her alone” in a fierce tone. I look to my left and there’s this skinny young man, not much taller than me, just glaring holes in those boys. He was so mad he was practically vibrating. Of course, the boys laughed at him and told him they could take him in a heartbeat, but Steve didn’t move. He just stood there silently, until they got bored and left. Then he made sure I was okay and walked me the rest of the way home. I never forgot his kindness. I was inconsolable when they announced he was lost in the war……”
“But then he came back and saved the world again!” Jenny exclaimed.
“He did,” Nana agreed. “Though I still don’t how how he survived being frozen for seventy years. He’s just too stubborn to quit, that one.”
Steve smiled.
“Aww, little Maggie. I remember her. Glad she had a good life.”
“See, Steve? People love you for the man you are, not for the title they gave you,” Darcy told him, turning around to face him earnestly. Her pretty blue eyes stared into his and he found himself wishing he’d found the courage to tell her about his crush. He felt sad again for her, having her life cut short so young.
“I guess so,” he admitted. “But man, I wish I would’ve talked to you. We could have been great friends.”
“Yeah, we could’ve,” Darcy said, a little too brightly. “But I’ll have you know, one of my last memories ever was of you lecturing a man for staring at my chest. It was late in my shift and I was alone, except for you. You looked so attractive all riled up.”
She fanned herself and Steve grinned.
“Are you saying you liked me, Darcy?”
“Oh, look at the time!” she exclaimed, turning a cute shade of pink. “On to the next Christmas!”
His hand was grabbed again and the scene shifted to Sam and Bucky, sharing beers and talking quietly. It looked like it was Sarah’s house, brightly decorated for Christmas, but his friends looked very somber.
“What are we gonna do about Steve?” Bucky asked. “He didn’t even answer my last few calls. I’m trying to give him space, but this is not working. I’m scared he’s not gonna pull out of this, Sam.”
Sam sighed and took a swig of his beer.
“I know. Depression is a bitch. Add to that the grief and untreated PTSD, and you’ve got a mess. Man, I would give anything to have him run past me at ridiculous speed, yelling “On your left!” again.”
Bucky chuckled.
“If you’d like, I could reenact that for you,” he teased. “I could leave you in the dust, too.”
“No thanks,” Sam snorted. “Just doesn’t have the same effect.”
“I miss his trolling, too,” Bucky added. “I wish I knew what to do. I’ve been surreptitiously leaving my therapist’s card whenever I visit, but I can’t force him to go.”
“No, we can’t,” Sam agreed sadly. “But we won’t give up on him. We’ll just have to do regular wellness checks when we get back and find ways to show him how much we need him. He may be stubborn, but his friends are even more stubborn—and sneaky.”
“Well, on a happier note, I’ve brought Sarah’s present.”
Bucky slid a small box onto the table and Sam stared, looking like he wasn’t sure how to feel about this.
“Bucky’s going to propose?” Steve exclaimed, eyes wide.
“Yep. And you would have known all about it if you’d just answered his calls,” Darcy informed him, mild rebuke in her voice. “He’s gonna do it tomorrow and you won’t be there. You snooze, you lose, Steve-o.”
“I’m beginning to see that,” Steve admitted, looking back at Darcy. She was clad in a crisp white suit, as befitting a heavenly representative, dark hair spilling down her back, and dark glasses frames that emphasized her lovely eyes. (Her figure was inspiring some not so heavenly thoughts, but Steve was good at self control.)
There was a long significant moment as they looked at each other, then Darcy reluctantly shook herself.
“We’ve got to be getting back now. I hope you’re starting to understand just how loved and needed you are. Please don’t give up.”
She gave him a very earnest look that made his heart warm and flutter a bit as she took his hand again.
“It’s been fun, Steve.”
Poof! They were back in his cabin.

Dumb Headcanon #30583: The DMC Crew’s Favorite Christmas Songs
Dante: Santa Claus is Back in Town by Elvis Presley
You know, the one that says Santa’s coming in a big black Cadillac. Big Dante Energy right there.
Vergil: Happy Xmas (War Is Over) by John Lennon and Yoko Ono
This one is a bit angstier than the others. The line “Have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year, let’s hope it’s a good one without any fear” hits home particularly hard for poor ol’ Vergil.
Nero: Christmas Sarajevo 12/24 by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Because it’s a rock remix of Carol of the Bells. Duh.
V: We Need a Little Christmas by Johnny Mathis
I originally went the angsty route with V’s, but then I decided that the mental image of V aggressively getting ready for Christmas as quickly as possible before he literally falls apart is WAY funnier.
Nico: Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer by Elmo and Patsy
…Do I even have to explain this one?

MLP Song Tournament: Results of Round 1
Warning: Very long post. So many stats
Of the three biggest landslides, two of them were This Day Aria, with the reprise winning with 93.04% and the original winning with 95.85%.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The reprise's sweep is extra impressive considering that it went up against an actual song rather than a joke songlet.
The number one sweep, The Smile Song, won with a whopping 98.15%!!!
Tumblr media
For context, this is a bigger sweep than Discord (Remix) [which eventually won] vs Discord's Puppet. This is bigger than Chris Pine vs Chris Pratt. This is bigger than the assassination of Julius Caesar. This is even bigger than Oscar Wilde vs Oscar de la Renta, the previous record holder for sweeps in my tournaments (and because that matchup and the Smile Song ended at around the same time, that record stood for about 10 minutes)
Now, going from the biggest sweep to the biggest opposite of a sweep: we had another tie! We Got This Together vs So Many Wonders.
Tumblr media
This one got more votes than this blog's previous tie (Earnest vs On Wings of Moonlight)*
*If you remove my vote, the win margin for We Got This Together becomes 50.21%, which is still more than Rainbow Factory got against Anthropology and The Moon Rises.
The two next closest matches were Friendship Bound vs The Goof-Off (51.41%) and Pinkie's Singing Telegram Song vs Off to See the World (53.125%)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of the Singing Telegram, that was the only song that was originally put in the "Okay" Tier (fifth tier from the top, or second from the bottom), thus making it's defeat of Off to See the World (which was second tier from the top on a Movie song tier list) the biggest upset of the round. There were 9 upsets in total this round*
*technically Glass of Water beating Friends Are Always There For You was an upset too, but I am not counting it, as they were both in the tier "Wonderful Songs" (third from top) and it was entirely random that FaATfY was one seed above GoW. Since they really had the same ranking, I don't count it as an upset
One matchup wasn't a massive sweep, nor was it close, but it is interesting for a third reason. That being, the third option. B.B.B.F.F. vs The Heart Carol was the matchup that got the most Show results votes.
Tumblr media
This was because it was reblogged by @todayontumblr, and as such was shown to a lot of people who don't care about MLP but do like pressing buttons.
Below is how many songs from each season entered the tournament, how many remain, and the percentage that moved on.
Season 1: 18 | 7 (39%) Season 2: 14 | 9 (64%) Season 3: 12 | 8 (67%) Season 4: 19 |13 (68%) Season 5: 14 | 8 (57%) Season 6: 14 | 5 (36%) Season 7: 6 | 3 (50%) Movie : 7 | 6 (85%) Season 8: 7 | 2 (29%) Season 9: 7 | 3 (43%) Promos : 3 | 1 (33%) Comics : 2 | 0 (0%) Other* : 7 | 2 (29%)
*Other refers to songs from Best Gift Ever, Rainbow Roadtrip, the Theme Song, and the song A Pony Kind of Christmas
Of the 131 songs, 67 moved on, or just over half. Seasons 2-5 all performed better than this, while season 1, the later seasons and most other media performed worse. I would guess this is due to Season 1 being full of songlets, and the later seasons and other media being less familiar. The exception to this is the Movie, which impressively won all but one match-up (and even then it was the third closest match)
Here is the above, but with specific episodes with a lot of songs
Magical Mystery Cure : 7 | 5 (71%) Pinkie Pride : 6 | 4 (67%) A Canterlot Wedding : 5 | 4 (80%) A Hearth's Warming Tail : 5 | 4 (80%) Crusaders of the Lost Mark: 4 | 3 (75%) The Mane Attraction : 3 | 3 (100%) Filli Vanilli : 3 | 2 (67%) The Crystal Empire : 3 | 1 (33%) Rainbow Roadtrip : 3 | 0 (0%)
Aside from Rainbow Roadtrip and The Crystal Empire, musical episodes all performed better than half
Now here is the above, but with the character singing the song
Pinkie Pie : 26 |10 (38%) The Mane Six : 17 |12 (71%) The CMC : 12 | 6 (50%) Fluttershy : 9 | 4 (44%) Rarity : 8 | 6 (75%) Twilight : 9 | 5 (56%) Rainbow Dash : 6 | 3 (50%) Applejack : 5 | 4 (80%) Cheese Sandwich: 4 | 3 (75%) Flim and Flam : 4 | 1 (25%) Coluratura : 3 | 3 (100%) Starlight : 3 | 3 (100%) Queen Chrysalis: 3 | 3 (100%) Celestia : 3 | 2 (67%) Spike : 3 | 0 (0%)
Pinkie Pie actually held on better than I expected, considering how many of her songlets got swept. As there are a lot of Pinkie Pie songs, and multiple people provide her singing voice, here is a breakdown of just her Voice Actors
Shannon Chan-Kent: 15 | 9 (60%) Andrea Libman : 10 | 1 (10%) EileMonty : 1 | 0 (0%)
As you can see, Andrea Libman as Pinkie Pie mostly did the songlets that got swept, with the only song she sang remaining being The Fresh Princess of Friendship (though she also sang The Goof-Off, which came close to winning)
As for how my taste conforms to Tumblr's, I have 36 MLP songs saved to my Music folder, and of these, 29 made it to Round 2*
*2 of these songs, At the Gala and True True Friend, were given byes, and so could not have been eliminated. Also, in 2 matchups, I had saved both songs, so the possible range was 4-34
But how about how my 11-year-old self's taste conformed? They had 5 songs saved to their IC Recorder, and of those, 3 made it to Round 2*
*This is kind of cheating, because the fact that I had saved At the Gala and Babs Seed when I was 11 is literally part of the reason they were given byes. So the possible range was 2-5.
Round 2 Starts Today!

Considering how much Holiday Horror soundtrack switches in tone as it progresses I really wonder if by Zone 3 we will see something absolutely messed up... Not to mention the temp of chase tracks goes lower and lower, like... We come from a fast paced Halloween-like remix of a Christmas carol with "Look But Don't Touch" to mf-ing "Death Follows" which sounds like we're being stalked by some sort of grotesque monster (name heavily implies-).
Another example is "Silent Shopper" which sounds like we're in a weird sitcom before suddenly we are dropped in a 80s triller with "Lost & Found".
Is Puppet King himself going to change forms??
I can't wait for Chapter 5, I want to see the insanity.
