If you wanna be a pagan or witch or whatever I can’t stop you from messing with demons but don’t call yourself a “Christian witch” or whatever. Don’t wrap up your heresy and sacrilege in Christ. Christ wants to free you from the occult and paganism. He died to save you, not so you can mock that sacrifice by claiming to be a witch that follows him. I know you want control and surety in your life, because life is messy and confusing but you won’t find peace in the occult. I promise. You’re beloved by God.

On Yule log
Tumblr media
Yule is a Scandinavian name for solstice celebrations. Note that Ostara cohabit with it on wheel of year, but it is a German celebration (plus goddess Ostara never really existed, she is a kind of modern fanfiction based on others myths). Sure, a modern pagan can celebrate any holidays they want, but wheel of year as is it today was never observed in the past. Too many celebrations from different countries, you know...So being historical, older than Christianity? I 'm not sure. For instance, in a Latin country like here (France), you had Saturnalia during solstice. Certainly as a resurgence of pagan traditions, log tradition was observed in France (and in neighboring countries I guess?) for centuries. It did not consist to put candles on a log (probably because not everyone has a fireplace by now?), but choosing the biggest log they can found in every family. Then the father (or in his absence, the mother, grandfather, eldest son...) would pour oil and wine on it (I know...sound like antique libations), bless it, and tell everyone in the house to think of a wish while touching it (hence the "knock on wood" expression). Then it was put in the fireplace, and left to burn while everyone was at the midnight mass. If the fire on the log was completely out when everyone was back, it would brought bad luck and the wishes would not be fulfilled. So to avoid it to be completely consumed, it explained why the biggest was chosen.
Tumblr media
Indeed...But as you see, there was no contradictions between having such a log, and go to the mass. This tradition is refereed to in Beauty and the Beast: The enchanted Christmas (set in France, you know).
Tumblr media
And of course, today, not everyone have a fireplace and I must admit this tradition is now largely forgotten. It was replaced by the "bûche" (log) cake, toped with little elves and on all tables for the Christmas eve dinner in every French home but mine, as my family hate bûches except me.
Tumblr media
It's so frustrating that I buy a individual model to eat after the Christmas day. Until today, I did not know that the cake was known as "Yule log" in others countries?
Tumblr media
Whoa, for real? O_O There is no "Yule " in the french name, but I guess the "Yule" never disappeared in English?

Let’s Talk About Jesus
Sooooo like, if you read my pinned post and bio found at the sidebar; you probably already know that I am a Christopagan Panetheist and believe in spirits that dwell in everything, which are also aspects of God! But where does that leave Jesus? I spent a lot of nights researching and praying to Jesus(as well as Lady Sophia) to give me some answers and finally found my answer. (Long rantish text under cut!)
Jesus is still the Son of God who died on the Cross for our sins to me, but he’s also our eternal brother and comforter. To me He’s the personification of God’s compassion and divine love. He cares for the sick and poor like a mother hen to her baby chicks. He openly weeps for the suffering of others. He teaches and speaks to people that most wouldn’t associate with. He’s like a calming energy ready to ground you and lift you up when you down. He’s not also so morose and serious though, he makes jokes and laughs and tells stories. He tells me me not to beat myself up when I make a mistake. He loves me and pulls me back when I question weather people truly like me or not. He’s my Big Brother and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The saints who were witches
As a christowitch, you can’t help but wonder: Were there any saints who were witches? In my point of view, yes. A witch can be a pagan, or a satanist, or a child eater, or an atheist, or a normal person with a few gifts depending on who you ask. So saints could have been the version “Christians with some inexplicable gifts”. I regard those as witches patron saints.
-Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179)
Tumblr media
You’ll probably say: She was an herbalist and a precursor naturopath, but what the big deal. Apart from the fact this make her a green witch, she has clairvoyance. As a child already,  she once saw a cow and told her nanny: “Look at this pretty calf!” The nanny answered this was an adult cow but Hildegard insisted there was a calf as well. A few days later, the animal caretakers discovered that the cow was pregnant, no one could tell until then. Hildegard had more and more powerful visions, culminating with Sophia (”wisdom”), the female and maternal part of God (so as a Christian you know “the goddess” too.)
Tumblr media
More surprisingly, she described creatures of cryptozoology in her books, such as basilisks.  Because she repeated rumors, or because Hildegard could see them while no one else could?

Hi!
1. Fan fiction. I love reading in general, but I love sinking into fanfic.
2. Books. The smell. The texture. I just love books.
3. My cat. She’s almost ten years old, and my sweetest baby child.
4. Cats in general. They’re my second favourite animal to polar bears… I don’t think my husband would let me keep a polar bear in the house though 😅😂
5. Fandom and learning new things. I would like to delve into quantum mechanics next. 😅
