I kept having to stop and restart due to deciding I wanted to do more with the ideas I was having, lol. Finally stopped getting creative with the prompt and just played it straightforward. Chromia isn't alone on the observation deck but she doesn't realize she has company until she feels Windblade's hand on her shoulder. Optics locked on Cybertron, she reaches to clasp that hand in hers. Windblade doesn't speak and doesn't prompt Chromia to either.

None of them have said it yet, though. Someone should.

So, Chromia says, "They were so close," anger and grief swelling with each syllable. "They should be here."

Windblade steps closer and wraps her other arm around Chromia's middle. "We'll get them back," she murmurs, a promise and a prayer.

For now, it has to be enough.

What made you ship it? The drama, dahling! No but actually, there is just something so arresting to me about these dudes who have so much genuine affection for each other but are both so bad at people due to their traumas and bad coping mechanisms that it undercuts what could be a good relationship for both of them. I'm into that. On the flip side, that they're both so bad at people due to their traumas and bad coping mechanisms but still have such genuine affection for each other makes me want to see them work together to create something lasting and healthy.

What are your favorite things about the ship? The way they're each their own kind of manipulative towards each other and the way it balances with the high regard they hold each other in. The way they rely on one another for good or ill. And of course I like their more genuinely affectionate moments too.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? The longer I've sat with it, the more I've shipped it specifically as something that's over and/or that could've been but never will be. It's not that I don't think they have the potential to build something that lasts but the shallowness of their reconciliation-- like the shallowness of a lot of later MtMtE/Lost Light-- is more grating to me in hindsight.

Chromblade: Don’t Ship It

Why don’t you ship it? I headcanon IDW1 Windblade as hardline aroace and their IDW2 interactions, while cute, just don't give off the right vibe to me.

What would have made you like it? In IDW1, if that headcanon hadn't taken hold. In IDW2, if we'd seen more of them together. It's not that I dislike it in either case-- I've enjoyed the occasional fanwork-- I'm just not into it.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it? For sure! Their loyalty to and affection towards each other in IDW1 is a great foundation for a relationship and bodyguard romances are a fun trope in general. And even though their relationship doesn't have the same depth in IDW2, I still enjoyed their brief time together.

Hawkahy: Ship it!

What made you ship it? I'm trying to remember the exact bit of casual affection that flipped my switch but there are too many.

What are your favorite things about the ship? The aforementioned affection, the quiet comfort they find in each other, the playful moments. I think Mulcahy is at his most playful when Hawkeye is around and it's been a minute since I watched more than the occasional episode at a time but I feel like Hawkeye is often calmer in Mulcahy's presence? I'm open to being corrected on that one. Then, of course, there is the delicious religious drama. Not only the obvious drama re: Mulcahy being a Catholic priest but the clash of their own relationships with faith and religion and simply God.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? I actually don't think so? I'm not really in the fandom and so Idrk what the popular and unpopular opinions are but I skimmed their AO3 tag and I can dance a jitterbug with pretty much all of it.
