Been obsessing over this ever since Werepapas: who is Adrien's legal guardian??? Because Werepapas seems to imply that Nathalie still doesn't legally have custody of him?

Like the whole setup is the grandparents coming to fight over it and then deciding to let him stay with her, but I wouldn't consider the matter settled? That's not any kind of official document and up until then they seemed to believe he was fair game. I think if I absolutely had to guess I'd say custody would go to Amelie but then. In the show's defense, they need everything to go as back to status quo as meaningfully possible by the end of the episode, and actually addressing the custody issue from a legal perspective is anathema to the cool fights and cute hugs and breaking the magic system which we know is what everyone is actually here for.

I'm glad it gives us lore at least, that's one of the few dangling fishhooks that I will admit to being snagged by.

Given how thoroughly it's diffused into popular culture it's obviously not gonna go away for any reason other than being unfashionable, but I really do find that "Chudjack" grotesque.
