Headcanon: Zarah Shipping

I have seen people that love or headcanon ship for Zarah which so far I remember there: Zarah x Denali, Zarah x Scott, Zarah X Yuri, Zarah X Mark, Zarah x Senja, Zarah X Rafael. However i never seen someone ship Zarah x Eva which i notice sometimes based on their dialogue. So i will share the evident i found:

Bread

Someone give Zarah bread secretly.

This happened more than once.

If you go to Coral Island Wiki you will found only two characters that give bread to player: Eva and Sam. Which make sense as Sam sell bread and Eva the one that own the recipe and work for Sam as baker.

Of course is possible Sam the one give Zarah bread, but based on this dialogue. Sam openly offer food to Zarah in the past so there no reason for Sam to give Zarah bread secretly. So Eva the one that give Zarah bread.

2. Cookies

Zarah activity always the same all year except winter where every saturday she visit Sam store.

Her unique activity in winter does get noticed by Eva.

Because she dont really know Zarah she assume Zarah loves cookies because Zarah buy the cookies in bulk. Which she not, she just like it.

That the reason why she bring cookies to hot pot festival because she buy cookies in bulk during winter so she still has some cookies to donate.

Those cookies topic remind me of this dialogue by Eva which I cant help found it to be more fit if she talking with Zarah than player.

3. Decorative Pillows

If player talk to Eva she will told you how she love DIY to safe cost including:

A. crocheted her own scarf;

B. draw batik pattern on her shirts, and

C. sewing decorative pillows.

While she sew it for herself. I can’t help (again) connect it to Zarah because Zarah seems to love decorative pillows and probably NPC bedroom with the most decorative pillows. So, i found it cute they have same interest! Despite how they look and act opposite of each other.

There also another screenshots that make me support this pairing more and more however those screenshot mostly about how they have opposite personality, but compliment each other. So i plan to post those screenshot on another post later.

Headcanon: Eva Age

Not a discourse, but people should stop seeing Eva as this barely legal woman 😅 I have seen many people headcanon her as 18-19 years old which as Indonesian myself i was shock because while true she look younger compare to other woman and i admit she "naive" and still has lot of dream. However i dont think she THAT young.

First I dont think Coral Island game dev will make someone that young with how many older looking dateables. Second this is something that non Indonesian may not aware because is need cultural context. Eva is Javanese woman (The biggest ethnicity in Indonesia) and Javanese usually not expected to study or work far from home unless they forced too (for example economic reason make them desperate to go far for job). Because Javanese people dont like too take risk/ scared of doing something new. Which you can sometimes see on Eva dialogue how she afraid to take risk or how Joko not interested to try new job.

Yeah Eva often talk how she not well off/rich and so need saving money, but she also not save money for helping her family infact is seems like her family is financialy okay without Eva help. That why I cant see her that young. Her family situation give me impression she move to Coral Island mostly on her own reason.

Usually they only brave to move far if they reach career oriented age which in Indonesia usually after 21 years old. Because first year student in university/advance school in indonesia usually around 18 or 17 years old.

I am still not sure if Eva went through university but atleast i do think she go to some skill classes or have some side job related to bakery before go to Coral Island. So that why I headcanon her as atleast 23 years old which yes you can found lot of 22-25 years old woman in Indonesia that look as youthful as Eva.

I need to said this because i had seen some non Indonesian player uncomfortable dating her because they though she around 18-19 years old which okay good reason, but I dont think she that young haha that why i need to clarified 😅

hihi-! i just really wanted to compliment you and your writing. i'm a long time reader, and first found you from your dabi fics a while back now. you have such a distinctive style and every new one you put out clearly has a lot of love in it and the effort has been put into it.

as a transman, i'm often nervous about how we are portrayed in fics, and i do apologize if i'm assuming you're cisgender- but, i just often see fic writers ignore the existence of trans readers so its just so insanely refreshing to see. you're so talented and i do hope one day you can be recognized more for how good you write (dabisbratz book when?). you have such a wonderful corner of the internet, and it's clear you don't just pump fics out but genuinely want to give people the best version. i've read and wrote fanfiction for....a while, probably too long. it's a form of escape and a way for me to better my writing skills- and you remain one of the best authors i have seen on tumblr.

when i first found your fics, i had recently realized i was transgender and i had started discovering myself. one of the first ways i 'tested the waters' was to read fanfiction, but with a male/masc reader. i had done a lot of reading with cis male readers, and it definitely helped me. finding your fics and seeing such good representation for trans readers, it has helped me accept my body as mine. sorry for such a long ask, i guess count this as a very late new years gift. i wish you luck in whatever you do, and have a great day/night!

NON TEMO IL PATRIARCATO IN SE' MA IL PATRIARCATO IN ME

Quando ricevo un ask anonimo di cui non è possibile estrapolare il genere della persona che mi scrive, dentro di me parto dal presupposto che sia una ragazza.

Potrei addurre a mia giustificazione il fatto che 8 persone su 10 che mi scrivono appartengono al genere femminile (poi arriviamo anche a questo) ma la realtà è un'altra.

Al netto che il variegato ramo della mia famiglia è composto ad alta percentuale di figlie di eva e che ho passato 25 anni a proteggere e a cercare di far crescere serene due figlie femmine, il fatto è che si accetta istintivamente e culturalmente che sia il sesso debole ad aver bisogno e quindi a chiedere aiuto, mentre i veri uomini ce la fanno da soli e non piagnucolano come delle femminucce.

Guardate quanti stereotipi di genere nell'ultima frase e se forse in giro se ne sente usare sempre meno, alla fine il preconcetto rimane radicato, più o meno apertamente negli uomini ma istintivamente anche e soprattutto nelle donne.

Per ciò che mi riguarda, ho peccato spesso (e succede ancora) di paternalismo ma mi dico che è un riflesso condizionato dell'essere stato una presenza rassicurante e spesso risolvente nella vita delle mie figlie, per cui il mio primo istinto diventa quello di trattare l'interlocutore come se avesse sempre bisogno del mio aiuto.

E bene o male, alla fine, chi ha bisogno del mio 'aiuto' - o meglio, mi scrive per parlare di sé - nella maggior parte dei casi è una persona di sesso femminile (non me ne vogliano le persone binarie o trans ma cerchino di capire il senso di quanto vado dicendo).

Perché i maschi si vergognano.

Non tutti ma abbastanza da rendere asimmetrica le richieste.

Chiamatela maschilità tossica, virilità forzata, machismo o mascolinità egemone ma il risultato è sempre quello.

Uomini fragili perché costretti a essere sempre all'altezza di certe aspettative culturali e sociali, ai quali non è permesso chiedere aiuto per il proprio malessere.

Però non voglio fare un torto a tutti quei figli di adamo che mi scrivono e che davvero non sono pochi, comunque.

Il malessere non ha genere, semmai si declina in contesti e con azioni differenti ma alla fine - al di là che gli effetti devastanti siano più evidenti sulle donne - se faccio fatica io per primo ad aprirmi e a rigettare certi bias patriarcali, figuriamoci se posso chiederlo a uomini decisamente meno fortunati di me.

Perché fino a oggi è dipeso molto dalla fortuna... di avere avuto un padre e una madre amorevoli nel modo giusto, amici e coetanei di un certo tipo, ambienti di studio e di lavoro predisponenti a una certa visione della società.

Fino a oggi fortuna...

Domani vediamo dove ci avrà portato questa nuova sensibilità sociale, spero non effimera e di pancia come dentro di me sento il timore.
