"These workers, who cannot even dream of ever building their own house in Delhi or Noida, come here leaving behind their dying agriculture and crafts. It is their labour that makes it possible for the residents of the city to experience safety in their homes, with home deliveries and travel. Ironically the same workers are left feeling not just unsafe and unwelcome but also as if they are the ones from whom the safety of the residents has to be ensured by making their spaces “gated”... ... the discourse of “safe cities” invisibilises the work that goes into making them safer, excludes those who put in this work and then goes ahead into turning them into convenient “others”.

The 'new' life of plastic: recycling boosts turnover
Tumblr media
The perception towards a material at the centre of a technological revolution with important economic implications for Italy has changed. Exports are soaring.
From a symbol of pollution to a precious resource able to solve many problems in various sectors, including food and healthcare, those considered most sensitive for the protection of our health. The "new" life of plastic is contained in this transition which, according to experts, marks the revenge of a material that was commonly demonised before Covid. Thanks to the pandemic crisis, which forced us to change our behaviours and habits, now the perception towards plastic materials actually seems to have changed. Many observers and operators in the sector are convinced that the shift occurred after packaging (especially food) and disposable products (such as cutlery, gloves, masks, plates and bottles) became central pieces in "phase 2" of the crisis pandemic.
All this has pushed Europe and national governments to reconsider the issue of plastic with a different approach, more pragmatic and less dogmatic than in the past: that is, when one analyses the problem, not upstream (use or production cycle of plastic) but downstream of a supply chain (end of life, i.e. collection and destination of waste). In this match, Italy has demonstrated that it can compete with the big Europeans as certified by the numbers in the latest report from The European House-Ambrosetti[1] that gives a picture of the value of the Italian plastics supply chain: over 180 thousand employees for a total turnover of almost 46 billion euros (8th largest manufacturing sector), 12.7 billion in added value and 19.9 billion in exports (5.1% and 4.9% of total manufacturing respectively).
The report also points out that the plastic supply chain is among the most important in our production lines. Only the recovery phase in Italy is worth more than double the EU average on the total value of the supply chain (2.1% versus 0.9%) and in the last 5 years it is the component that has demonstrated the greatest dynamism (more than 40% of turnover and more than 72% of added value compared to 2016). Not only that: the potential for innovation from a circularity perspective is very significant and by 2030 it can reduce the quantity of waste (minus 22.7% compared to the trend scenario without corrective interventions) and increase the recovery of plastic materials (up to more than 19, 3 percentage points compared to 2020).
A further strong point of the supply chain is the research and production of bioplastics, the overall value of which is approximately 2% of the total supply chain compared to 0.3% in France and Germany.[2] It has to be considered that  the report observes the advent on the market of multiple chemical recycling technologies,[3] complementary to mechanical recycling ones, which offer our country enormous development opportunities because they enable recycling without the plastic losing quality. allowing a second use in the medical and food fields.
Tumblr media
How much does the plastic industry sector weigh on turnover Right table: The structure by region . Companies and turnover
In this sense, the signs are encouraging according to the latest findings of the national statistical survey, conducted by the Mecs-Amaplast study centre[4]: the plastic and rubber technologies sector, with a turnover of 4.67 billion euros in 2022 in growth of 5%, after the double-digit increase post Covid. A result achieved above all thanks to exports, which recorded a positive trend particularly towards the end of the year, with a total value returning above the threshold of 3 billion euros, reaching 3.25 billion (+8.7% on 2022).
In detail, the exports of Italian manufacturers, that represent a 70% share of production, are progressing towards the main destination macro-areas: Europe (plus 8%), Americas (plus 12%), Asia (plus 9%) . As for the sector's export product category, a robust growth is noticed in machinery for primary transformation among extruders[5] (plus 23%) and systems for mono-multifilaments[6] (plus 58%), the latter being a category which has recorded in particular a very sustained progression in the last three years, starting from 74 million euros in 2020 to reach the historical peak of almost 140 million in 2022, after the value range of 30-50 million in the previous decade. On the other hand, the performance of injection machines was flat and that of blow moulding machines[7] (minus 19%) and thermoforming machines[8] (minus 22%) was decidedly negative.

Six guidelines for the green transition
To increase the innovation potential of the plastic supply chain, The European House-Ambrosetti outlines 6 lines of action: increase separate waste collection through local collection centres and a training plan on how to recycle plastic; introduce simplified authorisation procedures and reduce the "Nimby Syndrome"[9] by extending the use of "Public Debate"; promote EU legislation on the use of compostable bags and make monitoring of the quality of OFMSW (organic fraction of solid urban waste)[10] mandatory; promote innovation processes in the plastics sector by encouraging public-private partnerships; strengthen the current Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)[11] mechanisms to support the circular evolution of plastics producers; create outlet markets for "End of Waste" materials[12] to increase the availability of recycled materials.

Partly for the prolific volume of projects artists release each year and partly for the fluid definition of an album (running anywhere from three to 13 tracks), an annual ranking of K-pop albums is never easy. As South Korea continues to extend its global musical influence, certain projects transcend hit-song compilations, presenting larger visions and conceptual narratives.
In 2023, stars like V, WOODZ and ONEW used their latest solo projects to share the music that inspires them at their core as artists and let listeners settle into sonic worlds they’ve developed.
[...]
First Place: Onew, Circle The First Album
Tumblr media
While it’s somewhat criminal to think that 15 years after ONEW’s debut with SHINee in 2008 we only just received his first full Korean album, the singer-songwriter himself would say that now was the perfect time for Circle. A musical journey unlike anything released this year, ONEW shared that he had attempted to record the album’s title track before dropping his Dice EP in early 2022, but felt it wasn’t at the level of perfection it deserved and held onto the song. ONEW then involved himself in every aspect of Circle‘s production process, from meticulous mixing and mastering to tuning, beats, recording and mastering, attesting to the singer-songwriter’s dedication to artistic expression.
The single “O (Circle)” opens the album with an intriguing blend of electronica and strings, while its gospel-tinged chorus emphasizes lyrics about the circular nature of life and how memories, feelings and dreams are all fleeting. The 10 tracks on Circle develop unique transformations from start to finish: the breezy melodies in “Cough” are paired with loneliness-themed lyrics and a melancholy instrumental breakdown, while “Rain on Me” starts with aggressive acoustic guitar strumming before transitioning into an atmospheric, percussive ballad. Sweet surprises abound, too: ONEW scats on the jazz-rap hybrid “Caramel” and gives a glimpse into his indie-rock side on “Parachute.”
The album’s effortless flow is anchored by ONEW’s famously solid yet understated vocals. As Circle concludes with the tender piano ballad “Always” which addresses themes of loyalty and resilience, the listener wonders if it’s an allegory for ONEW’s public journey through health challenges, including vocal cord surgery. Even without any writing credits on Circle, ONEW’s presence is undeniably felt in this seamless collection that boasts an emotional depth brought on by 15 years in the game. That’s the kind of introspection you can’t rush or doctor through A&R but need to cycle through and arrive at when the moment is right. From scheduling this album’s release to the messages on the final track, time is definitely on ONEW’s side to deliver such a project. — J.B.

MDNI/18+. NSFW. | CW: Joel Miller x fem! reader; smut WC: 1.0k
I don’t know where I was going with this but it just came to mind on the fly and I felt the need to share before I went to bed so yeah. We are simply here for the vibes.
Tumblr media
It was a mistake initiating this, that much you knew but you stopped giving a fuck after the second beer you downed. The transitions from point A at the Tipsy Bison to somewhere else for Point B seemed like a blur, a stop-motion film of your bad decisions playing before you on an endless loop.
Not that you cared enough to stop and watch.
Strong calloused hands dug into the skin of your thighs, nails pressing into the thick muscle and pulling you forward, ever closer. Needy fingers reached downward between your legs to grip onto graying curls and tugged with a soft yank, the other gripped on the old sheets underneath that smelled faintly of pinewood.
You could hear him, the loud slurping bordering on obnoxious with the circular movements of his tongue against your cunt. His grip was harsh if it wasn’t deprived, and as your heart pounded in your chest you finally opened your eyes to look at the culprit.
Joel Miller.
They warned you that he was dangerous, a man of terrifying stature. You heard stories about him in passing as if he were some folktale told to scare the children before bed, envisioning a boogeyman without a soul. It wasn’t until you arrived at Jackson and met him face-to-face on your third assigned patrol that you realized just how wrong they were.
Sure, the warnings matched somewhat. He was ruthless, a man with impenetrable skin despite the multitude of scars you counted from afar. You watched in awe at how efficiently he could bring down a clicker, or how the blade of his knife stained with crimson as he cut through a raider’s throat from behind.
There was a darkness in him, reminiscent of someone who had been tormented by his own demons for years. In a world like this where one already had so little, you took what you could get, and this wasn’t any different. He commanded any room he was in even if it were unintentional, it simply came with his reputation.
Joel made his bed years ago, and now he has to lie in it. But with you lying alongside him, the sentiment was preferable.
It should scare you, the twisted edge you could feel wash over him in waves with every step he took. You spotted it earlier when he walked through the doors of the bar and quietly sat himself down towards the far end. The last thing that should’ve happened was you striking up a conversation, attempting to grab his attention.
That darkness shone bright like a beacon in the night, and you were merely a moth to a flame.
“Oh fuck,” you moaned out loud, guiding his head right where you needed him and shifting your hips against the faded cut on the bridge of his nose.
He groaned against you and sucked harder at your clit, fingers working in tandem to bring you closer to the precipice and drink more of you. You tasted better than the stale beer he drank, and he ignored the bubbling guilt tearing at his gut by digging his face into you with an intense hunger.
Joel didn’t know how this happened, not that he was complaining. One minute, you were talking to him with a mischievous twinkle in your eyes that sent all the blood in his body drifting South. The next, he found himself plucking at the top of your shirt, meshing his lips hard against your mouth and grinding his hips with force.
Regardless of his rough exterior, he was a weak man to your charm and intrigue, and perhaps that constituted him as a selfish one too. But in this reality, the only thing one could do was take and take and take.
Another soft cry filled the four walls of his bedroom, huffs of your breath on par with the flicks of his tongue against your aching core. You were so close you could taste it, the pleasant contrast of Joel’s facial hair rubbing into your pussy making you crave more. You silently hoped to leave your mark and claim him for yourself, praying that he could still feel your presence when you left in the morning.
Two fingers thrust into you then, back arching off of the bed at the intrusion. They curved into a come hither motion, finding that hidden spot tucked away inside you with shocking precision, focusing all of their attention on pressing right there nonstop.
“Joel,” a broken gasp of his name drew his blackened hazel eyes to take in the bliss written over your features. He hummed in acknowledgment, trained ears playing the sound of your voice endlessly in his head. He couldn’t get enough, and from the way your lower stomach flexed, he knew you were about to cum by his touch.
“C’mon, give it to me sweetheart,” it was an order, a command, a dying man’s last wish. You couldn’t help but oblige.
Your thighs shook on his shoulders the moment your release hit, hands clutching at his scalp as he ripped one final moan from your throat. A feeling you’ve almost long forgotten coursed through you from the balls of your feet to the very top of your head. Like a tide hitting the shore, it flowed over you in calming motions until the water stilled and the pleasure simmered into numbness.
Joel placed a soft kiss against your twitching pussy one last time as you basked in the aftershocks, kissing your thighs and hip and trailing a path up your body before his lips met your own. You could taste yourself on the entirety of his upper lip, and as he grinned at you, your gaze held the same satisfaction he carried.
Who knew a bad idea could have such a pretty face?

Low-carbon industry: these companies are accelerating the transition
Tumblr media
Monabee, a specialist in photovoltaic energy, has just developed solar charging for electric cars and aims to triple its turnover in 2023, to 21 million euros
Bio sourced materials, eco-design and renewable energies are part of the daily life of companies that have made of transition a pillar of their strategy and economic model.
Barring the way to inflation and boosting growth: such would be the effects of “orderly, announced in advance, credible and ambitious” ecological transition policies, according to a study by the Banque de France[1]. "The earlier we do it, the less costly the transition will be from a macroeconomic point of view", confides Stéphane Dées, co-author of this report to "Echos". This observation is already illustrated by the actions of committed companies, some in biomaterials, others in renewable energies, and whose acceleration is due to several factors. In addition to awareness of the climate emergency and the development of support ecosystems, these innovators have acquired expertise that is still not very widespread, and therefore attractive.
“It's true that the more skills you gain, the more interesting you become in the eyes of customers, subcontractors and even talents,” summarizes Vianney Fichet, co-founder with Clara Trevisiol of Monabee[2]. Launched near Lyon in 2012, this young sprout specialising in solar energy should triple its turnover in 2023, to 21 million euros. An acceleration generated in particular by the quest to respond to new needs. “We are learning from the evolution of uses and customer expectations, in both BtoB and BtoC”, emphasizes Vianney Fichet. And the manager mentions a solar charging station[3]  for electric cars, born from the fact that, "in the age of teleworking[4], many drivers now spend the day at home and can therefore recharge their car as soon as there is sun ".
Customer-Funded Innovation
In addition to instigating innovation, the client sometimes contributes to financing it. "Since the 2017 law on the duty of vigilance[5], major clients are required to control risks throughout their value chain, therefore among their subcontractors who are often small companies", explains Rebecca Stekelorum, assistant professor in strategy and entrepreneurship at the ICN Business School, whose research focuses on the ecological transition[6] of SMEs. She cites in particular the Renault group, which contributed to the Afiler project[7] allowing the financing of the new production tool of Filatures du Parc[8], a family business in the Tarn whose fabrics made from recycled materials dress the Renault Zoé[9].
Another lever for acceleration is belonging to "a community that goes in the same direction", according to Jérôme Schatzman, the director of the Centre for Social and Ecological Innovation[10] at Essec Business School and of the social enterprise accelerator Antropia[11], which , since its creation in 2008, has served as a launching pad for more than 400 project leaders, particularly in the circular economy, new consumption patterns, energy transition... "Within an accelerator or a movement , like the Business Climate Convention (Convention des entreprises pour le climat), exchanges between peers make it possible to support each other on the path to transition, and to more easily identify the aid and support available, knowing that there is a lot ! » he explains, recalling nevertheless that « the definition of a clear strategy, based on a diagnosis, must remain the first step ».
Federate competitors
Confirming that "federating between players in the same sector allows you to defend your market and progress more quickly", Vianney Fichet mentions the AuRA Digital Solaire[12] union, of which his associate is the vice-president. “Moving forward together, even if we are competitors, enables us, for example, to bring our subjects to the government,” he says. Because the legislator seems to retain a prominent place on the podium of accelerators. Thus, Jérémie Lagarrigue, the general manager of EODev[13], a company producing hydrogen-powered generators, resulting from the Energy Observer project[14] (the first ship to have completed a round-the-world trip in energy autonomy), mentions an action of the Ile-de-France region which, as part of its air quality plan, has decided to “subsidize events using non-polluting generators”.
In addition to the events sector, EODev - that achieved 9 million euros in turnover in 2022 - has clients in the construction industry, telecoms and even the film industry. "Our generators are used from construction sites to film shoots, via the supply of relay antennas", explains the manager, convinced that "the major clients are the first to be able to give the 'impulse ". "However, there are still many who want to decarbonize their model, but by paying less, which is not always compatible," he concludes.

[3] The linchpin of the energy transition, Enedis will enter into the hard investments to be deployed to keep pace with the energy transition. Its "network development plan" shows for the first time the extent of the investments needed in the medium and low voltage electricity distribution network to meet the energy transition objectives while maintaining a very low level of power outages. current each year on the network. Enedis indicates in it that it expects an increase “of around 20% in its investments over the period 2022-2032 to reach more than 5 billion euros annually”. https://www.lesechos.fr/industrie-services/energie-environnement/bornes-de-recharge-eolien-solaire-enedis-prevoit-presque-100-milliards-dinvestissements-1914746
[4] It is not the aficionados of face-to-face work who will tell you the opposite. Compared to those who work from home, workers who commute to the office spend an average of 25% more time developing their careers, according to WFH Research. In detail, this team of American economists - who have been analyzing telework since the start of the pandemic - estimated that face-to-face workers devoted, each week, around 40 minutes more to mentoring, nearly 25 minutes more to train in a 'formal' way and about 15 more minutes to do it in an 'informal' way. https://www.lesechos.fr/idees-debats/leadership-management/teletravail-ou-presentiel-comment-doper-sa-carriere-1935181
[5] The French law of March 27, 2017 relating to the duty of vigilance of parent companies and ordering companies, establishes, in the commercial code, new obligations of vigilance with regard to the most important companies, which must establish and implement effectively implement a vigilance plan. The law provides for their liability in the event of failure to comply with these new obligations aimed at preventing the risk of serious violations of human rights and the environment, including g when they are committed by their direct or indirect subsidiaries, in France and the rest of the world. https://www.vie-publique.fr/rapport/284174-devoir-de-vigilance-des-societes-meres-et-entreprises-donneuses-d-ordre#:~:text=Pr%C3%A9sentation-,La%20loi%20du%2027%20mars%202017%20relative%20au%20devoir%20de,effective%20un%20plan%20de%20vigilance.
[6] Created in December 2020, the Convention des entreprises pour le climat (CEC) is a recognized Association of general interest whose vocation is to organise awareness and transformation courses for economic decision-makers. https://cec-impact.org/association/
[7] Afiler is a study launched in 2015 by Filatures du Parc and Renault to manufacture carded yarn from automotive waste. https://www.environnement-magazine.fr/recyclage/article/2017/03/08/49138/projet-afiler-recycle-les-ceintures-securite
[8] The Filatures du Parc in Brassac (Tarn) were the first in France to produce yarn by recycling old clothes. This carded wool spinning mill with 30 employees filed a patent in 2007 on the transformation of used clothing into long fibres. It invested 1 million euros in 2018 in machines for defibrating old textiles to enable manufacturers to make recycled jeans and sweaters. But it no longer produces recycled yarn for seat fabrics for the Renault Zoé electric car, as it had to close for a year after its warehouse fire in April 2020 and lost that market. The old fabrics are impregnated with a mixture of water and oil, then defibred on rollers. The fibers are integrated into the yarn manufacturing lines. https://www.lesechos.fr/pme-regions/occitanie/textile-80-marques-utilisent-le-fil-recycle-des-filatures-du-parc-1399628
[9] For more than three decades, Renault has officially brought the stars to Cannes: R25, Safrane, Vel Satis… All the big diamond sedans have had their hour of glory there. But that was before the pandemic and a more environmentally sensitive planet. This year, Renault is thus banking on the smallest or almost of its cars, the Zoé, barely 4 m long... European bestseller on the market of electric models and redesigned last season, it now offers autonomy flirting with the 400 kilometers between each recharge, a rarity for such a small "sedan" operating only on the strength of kilowatts. All the more attractive as this second generation of Zoé improves its handling, its presentation and its comfort. Passengers are welcomed without contortion in the rear seats, pampered by the tranquility of an electric mechanism quieter than a Rolls and which promises the driver the dynamism of a quasi GTI of the 1980s... A Zoé which has everything to please, including a pleasant braking (another rarity for an electric!) and a finish called "Exception" not stingy in sensations. https://www.lesechos.fr/weekend/high-tech-auto/la-renault-zoe-star-de-la-croisette-1328909
[10] The CISE (Centre Innovation Sociale et Ecologique, in English: Social and Ecological Innovation Centre) aims to develop concrete initiatives in the service of social and ecological transition.
[11] Antropia ESSEC was created in 2008 by ESSEC's Impact Entrepreneurship and Innovation Chair to support social entrepreneurs who create, develop and maximize the impact of organizations that are socially useful, environmentally virtuous and economically sustainable.  As the first social enterprise accelerator supported by a major management school, Antropia ESSEC's mission is to strengthen the capacity to act of these entrepreneurs, by training them, equipping them and offering them support adapted to their stage of development (emergence, consolidation and change of scale, measurement of social impact, establishment in the Val d'Oise, etc.). https://antropia-essec.fr/decouvrir/
[12] Union of solar companies and digital/digital solutions applied to energy. We are solar and digital entrepreneurs and leaders. We share the desire to federate to build an industrial sector of the future in the territories. https://www.auradigitalsolaire.fr/
[13] EODev (Energy Observer Developments) is the result of the unique experience acquired on board Energy Observer: the first clean energy self-sufficient hydrogen vessel, developing innovative solutions for the environment. Created in March 2019, The company's mission is to accelerate the energy transition by offering sustainable, reliable, efficient, and affordable industrial solutions. https://www.eo-dev.com/about
[14] Launched in 2017, Energy Observer 1 continues its odyssey on the seas to raise awareness of the decarbonization of maritime transport. Announced this weekend, the Energy Observer 2 project concerns the construction of a 120 meter long boat, which will run on liquid hydrogen and will require an investment of 70 to 100 million euros. Energy Observer 1 continues its odyssey which will end in 2025 after the Paris Olympics. Since its launch in 2017 in Saint-Malo, this boat, which runs on hydrogen produced on board, photovoltaics and sail propulsion, has already traveled 48,000 miles (more than 88,000 km) on the different oceans. to raise awareness of the decarbonization of maritime activities. "With Energy Observer 2, we will take the next step, since it will be a trans-European freight ship", says Victorien Erussard, who initiated the project, of which he reveals the first sketches. 120 meters long and 22 meters wide, it will be able to transport up to 5,000 tonnes of goods. It will be propelled without emitting CO2 or other polluting emissions since it “will operate from liquid hydrogen”, continues the captain. https://www.lesechos.fr/pme-regions/innovateurs/energy-observer-2-aura-pour-mission-de-decarboner-le-fret-transeuropeen-1384844

I don't get the point in being a Facts and Logic Atheist Skeptic if you're going to blatantly ignore the fallacies of the transgender ideology.
Everyone makes fun of the circular reasoning of Christians but no one makes fun of the very obvious circular reasoning of the trans movement. One of the reasons "what is a woman" is such a fantastic question is because they can't answer it. "What is a woman?" "A woman is someone who identifies as a woman." "Ok, well what is a that? When you "identify" as a woman, what does that mean?" It's very similar to asking a Christian "how do you know the Bible is true?" They say "the Bible is true because it's God's holy word." "Ok, well how do you know that?" "Because the Bible says."
Not only that, but transness in itself is an entirely spiritual belief. You're essentially trying to "fix" your body, which isn't even broken, to further reflect your soul. The idea of a soul is inherently spiritual. I find this especially true of nonbinary people who go through surgery and have their nipples removed. Many of them say "well, I wasn't supposed to have nipples" or "nipples make me dysphoric," and it doesn't make any sense. Nearly everyone on planet earth has nipples, what do you mean you weren't "supposed" to have them?
When you listen to trans people talk about their gender identity, it's extremely religious. Even with things like "trans joy," I can't help but think of the old sold "I've got the joy joy joy joy down in my heart." Well, I guess if JKR doesn't like it she can sit on a tack.
When they talk about their transition, they're "on a journey," they're "connecting with their gender." When they do finally transition, and cry because they "finally feel like their true selves."
What does that even mean? There is no "true" self, the self you currently have is your true self. You were never not yourself. You were never broken. Anyone who told you that you were was trying to sell you something.
The fact that most skeptic youtubers aren't even a little suspicious of this movements is very confusing to me. It's still possible they could be, but god forbid you say anything.
The trans community is one of the most toxic things I've ever been a part of. In my opinion, it's like Scientology on steroids. If you leave, you will lose friends, and you may become the victim of targeted harassment. If you even hint that you might be questioning it, you will be met with suspicion at best and outright hatred at worst.
In my opinion, it is one of the most popular, regressive and destructive cults currently operating in the US, and one of the reasons it's so dangerous is because it specifically targets mentally ill teenagers and gay kids. It sells the idea that something is wrong with them. It leads them down the path of medicalization and sterilization. In many ways, it's the modern day lobotomy.
This is the biggest medical scandal of our lifetime. If you're not at least a little bit skeptical, I worry for you.
