More than 100 victims of the devastating October 7 Hamas assault on Israel and their families filed a lawsuit Monday claiming $1 billion in damages from UNRWA, the UN aid agency for Palestinians, accusing that it aided and abetted the terror group’s assault.
The 167-page lawsuit named as defendants the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, as well as seven of its past and current leaders, including head Philippe Lazzarini.
It said UNRWA, which coordinates nearly all aid to Gaza, let Hamas use its facilities for weapons storage, allowed tunnels and command centers to be built under its sites, and funneled cash into the terror group’s coffers by insisting on paying employees in US dollars.

Friday Blog: REST
Good Friday everyone. I’d like to start by speaking of the passing of O. J. Simpson yesterday. I start this way because I know it was something on everyone’s mind but difficult to talk about because of the times we are in. However, O. J. was not murdered nor did he commit suicide so the coincidence is purely happenstance.
I’d like to note that, unlike George Zimmerman, O. J. was tried in civil court and lost while Mr. Zimmerman was never tried after the acquittal for his murdering of Travon Martin and that Zimmerman pursued civil litigation against Travon’s family, after he won his criminal case.
To me, this sheds light on the fact that Mr. Simpson was in fact truly “not guilty” of the crime charged against him and in the end was truly a victim of racism and the racist way of going about things in this country.
I believe the “Colombian Necktie” narrative put forth by, now deceased, Atty. Johnnie Cochran and that, more than likely, Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman were murdered because of a large outstanding drug debt. I also believe that if he wanted to kill her and Ron out of jealousy he would have done it as soon as he found out.
Now, we have to deal with the legacy of a rich, talented, and successful Black man who was never able to get a fair shake in this “just” land.
Until next time, remember God loves you and so do I.

"COURT WILL LOOK THE HORSE OVER," Hamilton Spectator. January 22, 1912. Page 12. --- Difference of Opinion As to Its Condition ---- Trouble Over an Animal Whose Cost Was $15 --- Neighbors at Loggerheads Over Right to an Alley ---- Samuel Golden, a rag peddler, who lives on Stuart street east, was charged by Inspector Berlinghoff with cruelly treating his horse. police court this morning At the Samuel told with frankness that he considered the inspector's charge to be a groundless one. He said that the horse was a good one, its original cost being $15, and during the last eight months had proved a worthy steed. The inspector discredited this. He claimed that the animal was the most emaciated, bony-looking creature he had seen in some time; besides it was suffering from some complaint of the hoof, which caused it to walk along on three legs. Despite his warnings 10 the owner to have the beast taken care of, his pleas were ignored. Golden denied all this, and the magistrate, in order to settle the case satisfactorily, ordered that the horse be brought up to the station in the morning, when it will be inspected, to see whether or not it is in fit condition to be in commission.
OBSTRUCTED AN ALLEY Andrew Sturdy, 66 Market street, was charged by Byron Richardson with having deposited large quantities of ashes in an alley adjoining his home, and thereby obstructing all access to it for teams and others who found occasion to use it. He also accused Sturdy of encroaching on the width of the alley, to the extent of six inches, which was caused by a shed that he built, a few weeks ago. and which protruded further than the sheds of the neighbors. Sturdy denied the charge, but Andrew Sanszone, 17 York street, whose barn is adjacent to the alley, said it was almost impossible for any vehicle to get into the warehouses since the ashes had been placed there. The magistrate informed Sturdy that his actions were wrong and that he would have to move the debris immediately.
ADMITTED STEALING For stealing a large number of articles from the rooms of William Bradt and Homer Barrett, Thomas Toner. Barton street west, after pleading guilty to the charge, was remand- ed until tomorrow morning for sentence. It was only a short time ago that he appeared in court on a similar charge and was allowed to go on suspended sentence. Chief Smith wishes to learn more about him.
HAS MADE REPAIRS George Hunter, 27 Canada street, who was given until this morning to comply with the board of health ordinances, namely to repair the frozen pipes in one of his tenant's houses. appeared and told his worship that the work had been done.

I think there are some court cases or situations in which the jury should be allowed to heckle the attorneys. If not verbally, we should at least be provided with popcorn and allowed to throw it.

Disputed Ukrainian Treasures Returned to Kyiv After Dutch Court Ruling
A haul of Ukrainian treasures sent to Europe for an exhibition nearly 10 years ago have been returned to Kyiv from the Netherlands after a lengthy legal battle.
The collection of ancient artifacts was dispatched to the Netherlands from four museums in Crimea before Russia’s annexation of the region in 2014. But the annexation meant their return has not been straightforward.
“After almost 10 years of litigation, artifacts from four Crimean museums that were presented at the exhibition ‘Crimea: Gold and Secrets of the Black Sea’ in Amsterdam have returned to Ukraine,” the National Museum of History of Ukraine said in a statement.
The collection comprised 565 items, including antique sculptures, Scythian and Sarmatian jewelry, and Chinese lacquer boxes that are 2,000 years old, the museum said.
Rostyslav Karandieiev, Ukraine’s acting minister of culture and information policy, described the treasures’ homecoming as “our great historical victory.”

“It is very important for us to save and protect our history, traditions, and heritage. This is what we are fighting for at the battlefield. We are fighting for our identity and freedom,” he said.
“The exhibition in the Netherlands was showing the history of Ukrainian Crimea, therefore it is exclusively the people of Ukraine who should possess these treasures,” he added.
In a statement published on its website, the Allard Pierson museum in Amsterdam confirmed that the collection had been kept in storage while the legal dispute raged on over whether items should be returned to Ukraine or the four museums in Russian-controlled Crimea, with both sides claiming ownership rights over the historic pieces.
Ultimately, the Supreme Court of the Netherlands ruled on June 9 of this year that the collection should be returned to Kyiv.
In its statement, the Allard Pierson museum went on to say that the items were “independently checked and carefully packed in accordance with museum rules” last month and arrived back in Kyiv on Sunday.
Els van der Plas, director of the museum, said in the statement: “This was a special case, in which cultural heritage became a victim of geopolitical developments. After it became clear in 2014 that the judge would consider the case, we focused on safely storing the artefacts until the time came to return them to their rightful owner. We are pleased that clarity has emerged and that they have now been returned.”
Welcoming the development, Ukraine’s Ministry of Culture and Information Policy said in a statement: “Until the de-occupation of Crimea, the ‘Scythian Gold’ will be temporarily stored on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.”
