Ink's psychology is so interesting. Let's talk about it.

Think back on one of your core memories. You're able to associate said memory with a feeling - good or bad, right? Perhaps you're able to recall a place, too. Now, imagine being Ink. Depending on his consumption of vials, he might only recall events when those same circumstances are recreated. How difficult would that be? How feasible is it to consume an exact amount, an exact combination, at an exact place and time? This is known as state-dependent memory, something Ink is incapable of experiencing.

Memory is most effectively recalled when context matches an encoding environment. An AU carries so much variability. Factors shift at the drop of a hat, and usually, it becomes impossible to recreate a moment. Ink feels something, but is he able to internalize it as a true experience? What he processes is a mechanical mimicry of enotion. It's so easy to avoid introspection when these things pass you by so quick. It's not worth dwelling on.

On that note: Identity Diffusion. It's something I see explored infrequently, but Ink's inner struggles are so rich with potential. Who is he, really? What was he meant to be, and will he ever know? The straight answer: no. Ink was never meant to be, and it's up to him to shape his own identity. His goals and values are always changing based on external factors. What does it look like inside his mind, when he's put at odds with his sense of self? What does he believe in, and does it align with how he felt yesterday? The extent of Ink's derealization is so underutilized. When he pauses mid-sentence, disassociates when all he comes up with is null. I'd like to see Ink's thoughts on his blank state, when he's off his vials and turns to a living instinct. I see a lot of interpretations where Ink avoids his "negative feeling" vials, because it's too difficult, or not worth the hassle, or he doesn't care. But what if he did allow himself to feel the guilt and remorse? The harrowing, sinking feeling that there is no "him." He's a projection, he has no real grasp on how he behaves. It's all an illusion in the end.

Closing thought, I wonder if Ink ever experiences a form of Pavlovian Memory; emotional responses linked to stimuli in the environment. Even if he can't perfectly recreate a memory, what of his subconscious? Does he have some deep-rooted color theory going on? When he looks at a clear blue sky, does his mind's programming attempt to piece together a notion or feeling, even if he isn't on his blue vial?

I think about him a lot. I'll try to write some more of these.

In a way, Day 2 was Mychael trying to comfort you after thinking about your lost cat! He's kinda bad with what to say so he thinks distracting you is the best thing he could do. Maybe he'll cook you something delicious, or bring you out for an outing with an activity like a picnic of sorts! Anything to get your mind off of it <3

As for comforting him, he's not the kind to talk his feelings out. He just needs proximity like being near you or having a part of him touch you, like leaning against you or having his tail around your arm while he figures it out on his own. He rarely has sad days, but when he does he kinda needs to wallow in it and have you with him when he gets out of that funk.

i feel like a lot of people aren't ready to have a disabled partner. not even if you really really really like us, or if you think we're hot, or even if you're disabled yourself.

some of us are never going to improve, and a lot of us will get worse. you have to accept that before getting into a relationship with us because if you don't it's so easy to put us in the position of performing normalcy to not make you sad to be around us.

some of us may need you to help with the things we either have difficulty doing without injury, or cannot do at all. some of us won't remember things, or get confused easily, or have trouble hearing you. unfortunately we can't just get over our disabilities when you're having a hard day, or you're mad at us. and it would be nice if we lived in a world where all disabled people who need carers could have them to make dating (and more importantly, life) easier but very few of us have the ability to get that care.

we're also our own people, and we deserve to have boundaries, desires, and needs. a lot of able bodied people do not see us as fully realized humans with our own internal and external worlds, and you carry that into your relationships with us. this results in either you ignoring our wants out of life because we should be overjoyed we have a life with you at all, or ignoring our boundaries because we really don't know ourselves as well as someone with an outside perspective does.

and to follow the obvious segway; sex. sex can be incredibly complicated when you're disabled. either it being difficult to physically manuever without help. it can be incredibly painful if done incorrectly, or for some incredibly painful no matter what. and for a lot of us, we've faced sexual assault because our assaulters know it's hard for us to fight back, or hard for us to be believed after it happens. some of us can't have sex at all, or don't want to.

also a lot of us cost more money to survive than you do. from specific diets, to medical appointments over and over and over again, to expensive medication and replacable disability devices. hell, a good chunk of us cannot have jobs! or in a lot of places jobs will hire us and pay us a lower minimum wage because society sees us as worth less than you. and we're often under enough stress keeping out heads above water without you also expecting us to be as financially able to do things as you are. and plenty of us are kept trapped in relationships we can't leave because of our limited funds.

please, before you date us actually do even the smallest amount of studying about disability rights, disabled people's lives, and bodily autonomy in general. think of the intersections we exist at as well, disabled people can be black, gay, trans, poor, and any other marginalized group you can think of.

i can recall so many stories of disabled people abused mentally, physically, sexually and financially by people who don't think they're even doing that to us. people who really really really love us, or think we're hot, or are also disabled themselves.

for so many of us our relationships feel like ticking time bombs. we deserve better.

please be better to us.

I don’t know if it’s been brought up before, but have they ever considered letting Bess visit the kits instead of Cedar taking them to see her? Or was it immediately off the table when Whorl decided it would be best if they didn’t know about their mother? Kinda hoping this could be the solution they go for instead of making things worse 😭

When the kits were first born, Bess didnt really want to raise them, she and Cedar weren't meant to last long - this is why Cedar took them to the clan once they were weaned. But she ended up finding a nice place to stay close by and she and Cedar kept seeing each other.

Eventually he convinced her to meet the kits again and after meeting she started growing attached and wanted to keep meeting them. But Bess hates anything to do with clans - she refuses to go near where the other cats are. She doesn't want to meet them, she doesn't want to stay with them, she wants nothing to do with clan life outside of seeing Cedarheart and now the kids as well.

Whorl only suggested the kits not knowing their mom bc she equated Bess giving them up to the clan = her not wanting them. Something that was true at the time! I mean why would she willingly seperate from her kits that young otherwise? Now Whorl doesnt know what to think of her, but she's willing to talk to them.

Is there potential for a way to change certain labels being added officially to the game? Such as changing Clan to Colony, or roles like changing medicine cat to healer. I know this can be done via modding, but it'd be nice and easier to just do it in the base game as well.

This is not something we would like to include, unfortunately! At the end of the day, this is Clan Generator, not a more-generic Cat Generator. Following that, we would like to keep the base-game itself true to its roots, and as such it will always follow Warriors labels.

My HC for them are pretty obvious from the above—Sanson is a gay man and Guydelot is pansexual. They're both cis in most of my universes though Sanson is a trans man in the Cyberpunk AU. They are mostly mono except for when I want to throw Nourval into the mix!

Sanson to me is a binary man and he identifies a such—even when he is trans he considers himself a man and not just in the wider masc spectrum. I do put him in a lot of gnc clothing though because he deserves to look pretty as a treat, and I think he's someone who actually does care about his appearance despite being known as a no-nonsense person.

I kinda swung between bi and pan for Guydelot, though in the end I decided that gender expressions hold very little weight for him so he is now pan! He doesn't have any preference for either end of the spectrum and only harps about banging maidens to annoy Sanson, whom he knows is gay lmao.
