werewolf vampire feud being an actual and expected thing, the 100th being gunned from the beginning of the war as a trial unit to see how humans, vampires, and werewolves are able to work together. most units kind of failing at it because everyones too territorial, too much blood history, too blood-proud, and humans too cautious.

enter the 100th, always the outlier, ever the undisciplined.

officer training begins far before their assignment to the 100th, so the buckies meet each other first. born-werewolf currently lone-wolfing john bucky egan's proverbial but also quiet literal fur bristling when he firsts scents the air of his new base and zeroing on buck cleven, the vampire who's going to sleep on the bunk right next to him. millennia-old ice-cold buck cleven smelling the wet dog fur and hearing the low growls first before looking up from folding his handful of monogrammed kerchiefs to a werewolf standing by the bunk next to him, presumably assigned that bed.

buck promptly ignores the guy, which bucky doesn't take at all very kindly. john still gives the guy his name though, a week down the line, because, well, he's very pretty and very smart and very capable of putting bucky on his back.

werewolves being high in the sky is unheard of. bucky suffers through the 'trying to get closer to the moon?' jokes easily enough. no sun smiting vampires here btw, should i say they glitter like the cullens or nah. just the slightest glitter then, lets say that there's a glow when the sun hits their skin, vampires being the suns favorite child or something and when they die they return as ashes to the sun to give those vampire pilots some fear of flying too close to the sun.

but like more on the other guys because fuck clegan theyve caused me enough grief

werewolf dougie vs human blakely. sooo attached to dougley you don't understand. dougie imprinting on ev like a baby chick, scenting his clothes and his jacket and his pillows etc. blakely being sooo flustered the first time dougie actually greets him like pack—as in dougie touches his nose to the side of ev's nose, runs it to the side just before his ear, and down to his neck—face cherry red and spluttering while dougie just has the most satisfied cat-who-got-the-cream look in his face. maybe after their first successful bomb-drop practice mission? idk just obsessed with the image.

vampire duo crubbles, centuries of being together reflected on the way they're never apart on the ground. croz's diet has to be like incredibly precise and certain blood sits weirdly in his stomach so up in the air paired with the anxiety of being so close to the sun he's puking out anything that's left in his stomach. ms. jean crosby known keeper of both harry crosby and bubbles payne, only woman to keep those two in line, but nobody actually knows what she is.

another werewolf and vampire pair: hammy and brady. hammy being a werewolf disaster duo with dougie, squabbling and rucking up the base like pups, bucky having to snap at them to cut it out when he's also wagging his out-of-sight tail wanting to cause mayhem too but maybe not when some very important general is by the base yeah. brady just brings that vibes of being incredibly old and incredibly stuffy and incredibly stick-in-the-mud at first you know?? hammy first meeting his vampire pilot and scoffing because that's literally the stereotypical vampire he's shit upon pre-army. until he sees brady pilot. until his pilot manages to execute a move so beautiful he doesn't end up as a pile of burnt fur within minutes of a trial flight. until he sees john fucking brady crack a smile at him with the slight glitter of the dying sun caressing his skin. dougie, smelling this shit from literally 4 miles away groans because brother, really?

vampire!kenny stuck in the body of a 19 year old never to grow old, waiting for his passing from the sun whenever that is. very human very warm very kind rosie rosenthal easily grasping at kenny's ice-cold-yet-sun-blessed skin and sparks fly from the flat of the palm meeting rosie's and to the tips of his bronze burnt curls.

fiery human chick harding able to go toe-to-toe with wolves and vampires, mouth stretched wide the first time he has bucky egan sitting on his visitor's chair whose metabolism is working overtime trying to burn the devils piss of a hooch out of his system. meeting born-werewolf jack the next hour who's bucky's only equal in their eclectic werewolf pack—whose fur is clearly bristling from bucky grounding him but he clocks instantly that this were will be the one who will actually snap on his new boys' heels if they ever step out of line.

currently kind of obsessed with this aaaa might come back with other ships (demacon i Will love you into existence) when it hits (hopefully) probably when the bi!buck euphoria melts a bit

Chapter I

Arya was the most fascinating human Gendry has ever seen. There weren’t many to qualify for that position given that he’s part-wolf and part-human and that he’s spent most of his time away from the social niceties offered within the vast wizarding world of Westeros.

Having lived a hand-to-mouth existence ever since the overthrow of the Lannisters from the Ministry of Magic and the relative peace that followed, Gendry hadn’t known many interesting witches or wizards within the realm of his itinerant lifestyle he could really boast about. He had taken jobs that were far below his level of ability – broomstick repairer, wand polisher, archivist, and saleswizard to name a few – knowing that he would have to leave them before his pattern of growing sick once a month at the full moon was noticed by his workmates. So, that included jobs with people that are often as miserable and dreary as he was far from being amusing.

The only ever interesting course in Gendry’s life was when Eddard Stark, the Headmaster of the Winterfell School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, had tracked him down to a tumbledown, semi-derelict cottage in Fleabottom and had offered him the post of Defence Against the Dark Arts at the school. Delighted, Gendry accepted on one condition: a limitless supply of Wolfsbane Potion.

Sure, he met a wild array of fascinating students and creatures during his tenure, but the unfortunate combination of circumstances that resulted in his undergoing a true werewolf’s transformation in the grounds of the school had led him to resign his post and return to his lonely lifestyle.

When the dark wizard known as the Night King gained ascendancy years later, the old resistance that fought him during the days of The First Men many hundreds of years ago regrouped and Gendry found himself part of what is known as The Brotherhood without Banners, the secret society founded by Rickard Stark and now led by Eddard Stark to oppose The Night King and his followers of White Walkers.

Eddard convinced Gendry to join as a way to honour his old friend Robb Stark, Eddard’s eldest son. Gendry and Robb alongside Jon Snow and Theon Greyjoy was an inseparable foursome during their days in Winterfell until the Lannisters’ campaign to take over the Ministry of Magic and persecute Muggle-borns came to pass and a war broke out within the realm.

The death of Robb, along with his wife Talisa, at the hands of the pureblood Freys under Lannister command, was one of the most traumatic events of Gendry’s already troubled life. This was only made worse when Theon was accused of murder and Jon Snow was wrongly accused of treason, with the former in hiding and the latter incarcerated in The Wall.

With the Lannisters returning in support of The Night King and old and new enemies resurfacing, Gendry found himself in the midst of the Brotherhood and face-to-face with the young Auror he could not stop staring at.

“You look like you’ve seen better days,” she said by way of greeting. She openly gawked at the scars cutting across his face, her wide grey eyes warm and kindly in their curiosity. Unsure what to say, Gendry simply blushed at the attention.

“Don’t be a bitch to your new allies, Stark.” Sandor Clegane, most known as The Hound, was one of the toughest and most grizzled Aurors of the Brotherhood. Gendry had rarely spoken to the man given his foul look and moods and was afraid of what the young woman would think for such brashness.

“I wasn’t being a bitch,” she responded with a glare. “I was just saying. Besides, it looks really cool. Suits him.” She turned to face Gendry and gave him a wide smile. “I’m Arya, by the way. Arya Stark.”

Werewolf Gale

I want to rant about werewolf Gale, so here some headcanons about him.

It's a mix of what I imagine him to look like in his wolf form (just with more grayish/blue eyes). Isn't he cute 🥰? Tall and slender, his coat is dirty white, a combination of sand, light gray and white. Depending on the season, the colors are more or less marked.

One winter, Bucky gave him a bath. After drying off, Gale looked like a fluffy cloud with paws. Brady couldn't stop laughing for 10 minutes straight at the sight. While Gale made a cat-like face, “I know you're laughing at me, stop it” (which did nothing to help the others to calm down). Fortunately, after a little bit of sweet talking from Bucky, Wolf Gale was back to being a happy, cuddly puppy.

Gale's favorite food (apart from meat) is apples. He could eat them all day long. It's his favorite food, especially when he's not feeling well. Buck always carries one with himand he gifts them to his packmates randomly. After arriving in England, he tried Granny Smith apples in London, and they've been his favorite ever since.

In his wolf form, Gale communicates mainly through his body posture: ears, tails, eyebrows, eyes, fur on his back and so on. When he uses his voice, it's mainly in the form of growls, whines, yelps and whimpers. Like a real wolf, he rarely barks.

Gale, in all his forms, loves heights, he feels good there, closer to the sky.

He has scars: some date back to his childhood, the bite, and serious injuries he's accumulated over the years. Most of them are usually hidden under his clothes.

He hates it when people touch him without his consent.

Pubs are sometimes too crowded for him, with all the noise and smells.

Underneath his air of top pilot and major, he's an awkward little nerd.

Gale can go from intimidating big bad wolf to sweet puppy in a second if he sees Bucky. Kidd doesn't know if it's more impressive when he's in human or wolf form.

*comes crashing in through the window* I was going to wait to comment on ao3 but I just need to talk about Curt's absolute denial because it was hilarious 😂 He was so precious being angry on Gale's behalf and even using his first name 🥺 I love him calling Bucky out on his alleged bs 😂 And then him immediately wanting to be part of the chaotic propaganda of Bucky being the werewolf with Benny and Brady who are so suck of Clegan being the epitome of soulmate 🫠 Buck being an overgrown cat on Bucky's lap 😭 "MY LITTLE WOLF" I am in shambles.. I adore them with all my heart🥰 Also I had a question, chronologically wise, does Curt know before Ken ? Did they manage to keep it a secret through all of their training in 42? I have so much questions for this au but I don't want to overwhelm you so I'll come back later 🫡❤️

Curt is a good friend of Bucky, not afraid to call him on his bullshit, and if he can get back at Bucky for everything he's put him through, even better. And he may or may not have a little crush on Buck.

Mr. “please let me take your place, i'll own you one” with a “let's add fire and fuel to the burning bulding” attitude Curtis Biddick was so mad that they didn't let him into it from the beginning. This club is what he lives for. After learning the truth, he's still one of the most involved in the “Why Major Egan is a Werewolf” meeting, but he's first and foremost a chaos agent for the “How to mess with the 100th” group. He lives his best life making up increasingly ridiculous stories (and everyone believes him).

It's more talk than actual annoyance. Brady and Benny were super happy for them, but after discovering that they're even more in their own bubble after they're officially together, they decided to act like this. Brady, Benny and Clegan (B4) have a sibling relationship and with that duty, Benny and Brady feel obligated to act like a sibling to them. They all have their differences, but are always very protective of each other -> “I'm the only one allowed to annoy you” between Brady and Bucky and "Let me help you" between Benny and Gale. Brady acts as Bucky's little brother and Benny as Gale's big brother.

I headcanon Buck as a cat-coded person (I use this hc more in the kitty gale series) so naturally wolf!buck will also have cat behavior. He already likes to be on top of things. And they're so fhruqfgq cute together🥰🤗, I get cavities just thinking about them (a bit of fluff in the midst of all the wonderful angst that exists in this fandom).

The fic is not in chronological order (I had planned to do this at the beginning but finally ....) So Ken doesn't learn before Curtis. That's kind of how it goes chronologically (other characters could be added of course 😉) :

What are some typical werewolf things that Gale doesn’t do?

Thanks for your question, it's really interesting.

It made me think for a while because as much as Bucky is the stereotypical werewolf between them, Buck is one too. It doesn't seem like it at first glance, but he has a lot of typical werewolf behaviors.

But I think these work :

Have a territory

Werewolves generally create their own territory. It's their place, their home. They are very protective of their land. Buck doesn't have a territory, never has. He doesn't care about the land, the place, that's not what makes it his home. No, for him, home is the people, his pack. This is also why he hesitates to flee during the stalag. Apart from the small possibility of success, part of his pack is here. They're vulnerable to the Nazis. If he leaves, it means he's abandoning most of the boys to their fate. And that kills him because he can't leave them, and at the same time, the longer he stays, the more Bucky loses his mind, which kills Buck even more. :(

Fight a lot

Another typical or more frequent behavior is that werewolves tend to be hotheads, more inclined to lose their temper than their human counterparts. They tend to fight more often. To take the pressure off, many of them use bar fights. Buck doesn't fight. Oh, don't get me wrong, he can fight, and he's very good at it. But he doesn't do it. (He rarely lets his emotions rule him) He never learned to fight 'for fun', he learned to fight to survive, he's mean. A good opponent is a down-and-out opponent. Even before he was transformed, he avoided combat most of the time. Incapacitating violently someone over spilt drink is a bit extreme. But after being transformed, he avoids them even more. Combat skills for survival + werewolf power -> it doesn't end well at all for the opponent. That's why he doesn't try to fight too hard in the bar scene. He lets Curt take his place because he knows that if he does, the diplomatic incident will be the least of his problems (and he doesn't hate the guy, he certainly doesn't like him, but that's all).
