MK: "No way! I may not understand your irrational love of noodles, or working hard, or being angry all the time—but you are always there when I need you, so it's time for me to return the favor! Because Pigsy's Noodles, are noodles worth fighting for!"
(2x04 Sweet'n Sour)

Subodhi: "Zhu Bajie was a stubborn one too."
Pigsy: "Oh! So you think we're the same just cause we're pigs huh, bet you think I'm just a disgusting little monster too."
Subodhi: "Zhu Bajie had his vices, however, like all the companions he grew up. He struggled the most, but he worked hard, not unlike yourself. Although he didn't start out this way, in time he became a deeply caring and protective creature, and a powerful ally—one of the best in fact. The heart you have in abundance, the power? Why, you've barely scratched the surface of your potential! And that's saying something."
(4x09 Roast of the Monkie Kids)

Gettin' emotional over my favorite hard working Pig man.

Oh, so the one character I actually shipped even a little bit turned out to be straight and have girlfriend?
Of course.
This show is just a direct punishment to me.
Come on. The only pairing I even remotely thought about was Best and Earth and now Best is straight. Sigh. Dull.
What is with the hets invading my BL?!
AND A HET KISS NEXT WEEK AS WELL!?
Why!?
No one asked for this.
No one was looking at the Close Friend series and going 'where is all the het?!?!'
COME ON.

jon's grandmother passed away in 2012 and one year after that he was hired at the magnus institute. danny stoker passed away in 2013. it's not stated anywhere what year tim joined research (as far as i could find), but i'm going to assume 2014. so what i'm saying is both jon and tim joined the institute within a year of their loved ones passing away. for jon, i doubt it was as painful as tim losing danny (based on how he describes her he likely did mourn her but still had mixed feelings).
considering how he witnessed danny's death, tim must've felt so numb to life. and maybe he was good at hiding it, even though he still cracked jokes and made friendly conversation. but the smile would never truly reach his eyes.
and there's a possibility that jon saw tim's grief and empathized with it. he could understand him and his pain, even if he couldn't never muster up the courage to tell him he knew. so jon would let his guard down around him. he laughs or rolls his eyes with a smile at tim's jokes. he listens to tim ramble about fascinating subjects and gets just as engaged. they get into hijinks. tim's "finest cat burglar in all of bromley" incident happens and they're both giggling like kids everytime either of them calls back to that inside joke.
jon never pries into why tim comes to work with his eyes red-rimmed. he knows. he comforts him through gestures not everyone would catch, but tim does. they have two good years, then jon gets promoted to head archivist.

i think brock just being "brock" and not "uncle brock" is very sweet. uncles are like team venture & sgt hatred which just feels like honorary family more than anything, the twins barely know the original TV and Hatred kind of only gets it at his own insistence and only really from Dean & i think it's kind of a default title to people who feel some sense of familial obligation but in a more official sense than anything, closer people to the family like Orpheus (+ triad) & White & Billy don't get it (but they also get a more formal "Mr/Dr" title, which i think is a middle ground for respect between Uncle or nothing" but Brock has no title but he's also the one person who is officially Venture family to all the Ventures & just the closest person to the Ventures bc he is inarguably family . he's raised the boys for 20 years/til they were 16 + together w their dad since they were babies & i think it makes sense Rusty wouldn't push for them to call him uncle brock & i dont think the boys would think it would fit either & i dont think brock would really take to it but ultimately wouldnt care if they wanted to, but he is the second dad in every way & he's not a part of the family the same way every uncle whoever is "part of the family" but they cant call him dad or anything bc they call their dad every available word for dad & i think rusty would get annoyed with alternating/differentiating but theres no other real word for what his place in the family is so he's just brock
