Watching ARMY try to twist people being RIGHTFULLY disappointed (or even upset) that Chris Martin forgot to say Jimin's name when introducing My Universe on Coldplay's tour is both shocking and not surprising at all.

I've seen this fandom get upset and trend "BTS is 7" for anything that has a member missing, recent example being when media were excluding Yoongi from posts/ads with BTS. But now when it's Jimin that's being left out, suddenly it's fine? Nevermind that ARMYs are harassing anyone (even other OT7 ARMYs) that voices their disappointment or anger, and calling them BTS antis or Solos.

Suddenly BTS making a song with and being "such good friends" with Chris Martin is more important than respecting the members.

Do y'all stan BTS (particularly Jimin in this case) or Coldplay?

I do think that it was a simple mistake and honestly don't think Chris meant any real harm (though most of any good assessment I have of his character was to do with his previous interactions with BTS so idk....) and he even later correct himself fairly quickly.

But the way that ARMYs were blatantly spreading a video were Jimin's name was left out, and that they either didn't notice OR knew and were lying "He mentioned all 7 🥹" is what is pissing me off.

Now we are being gaslit that "This isn't what ARMY does", when it quite literally is! Or maybe they're right, it's just not for Jimin...

I think because it was an honest mistake on Chris’s part (that he even corrected) a lot of ARMYs didn’t want the situation to escalate. Solos often get disproportionately upset (or conspiracy theory-esque) in these situations which leads to the other party getting mass harassed. That’s why a lot of ARMYs will kind of stonewall these situations in an attempt to deescalate them before they spin out of control. Considering Coldplay has such a good relationship with BTS (though clearly not equally close to all members lol) ARMYs were especially motivated to not let this blow up. That means entirely shutting down any negative discourse whatsoever.

That kind of reaction always comes at the expense of genuine ARMYs who are expressing normal discomfort or disappointment in a non-toxic way. It feels suffocating sometimes and it does make some ARMYs look remarkably insensitive imho. As an ARMY you SHOULD feel a little uncomfortable or disappointed watching a clip where only one member gets left out. You should also definitely not want to mass hype and circulate said clip.

I’m not saying they should fall to their knees in despair because Chris forgot to name Jimin one time lol, but for a fandom that aggressively pushes the seven or nothing agenda it’s weird for some of them to be so comfortable and even celebratory over an OT6 shoutout, or so dismissive over someone feeling disappointment over it. Some ARMYs were just remarkably callous, either because they had good intentions in stopping the situation before it spun out of control, or because some of them genuinely do not care unless it’s their bias being forgotten (and there’s a lot of people like that these days).

The inability to have productive discourse and the constant dismissal of genuine concern in an attempt to clumsily shut down solos (or boycotters, other kpop stans, general antis) has really had a lot of negative consequences for this fandom. This is another (albeit small) example of that. Because yeah, shaming and attacking people for expressing some disappointment that Chris forgot Jimin is weird as hell coming from ARMYs of all people.

I was also rolling my eyes a bit at some of the ARMYs who were freaking out about how this was embarrassing the fandom lol. These are the same people who literally just harassed Tetris again only a few months ago because he said he didn’t understand fanwars and was looking forward to both the BTS & BP comebacks. When I tell you that tweet got swarmed with ARMYs (big accounts!!) absolutely losing it on him and how embarrassed I was? Same as them turning a blind eye when he was being mass harassed by KTHs & tkkrs, or brushing the Umi situation under the rug (some even blaming her for calling it out), getting mad at Holland for calling out tkkrs instead of being embarrassed by them etc. And these are some of the same ARMYs who are whining about being embarrassed right now.

It’s annoying because I know a good chunk of them are not upset because they “care about BTS” but because they don’t want it to damage their own relationship with Coldplays fandom. They have no issue embarrassing themselves or BTS when it’s something they’re bothered by or someone they personally don’t like. It's because for all their “no multi” talk some ARMYs are insanely, embarrassingly desperate for validation and connection with other fandoms. They brag about their good relationship with Coldplays fandom all the time so some of them are just scared of ruining it.

I will say this situation isn’t really comparable to the media leaving Yoongi out though. That was a genuine attempt to blacklist him and erase him from the group. There was a whole organized k-media and OT6 ARMY smear campaign going on, so leaving him out was very intentional and very malicious in those instances. ARMYs loudly pushing back on that was pretty important and understandable. This was just an honest mistake from someone who really is friends with BTS (maybe not as close with JM lol) and probably felt bad about it. I do get where you’re coming from though. Also the way that ARMYs glaze Coldplay (or just in general the people BTS associate w/ that they personally like) does feel excessive to me sometimes lol.

You know the funny thing is that I doubt even Chris would want ARMYs to circulate that video of him forgetting Jimin because it is a hurtful thing to do to someone (not claiming JM would be bothered by it though, I just mean in general). That’s literally why he corrected himself later. That’s why ARMYs acting like there was nothing wrong with the OG clip was so weird to me. Defending Chris, saying let’s not turn this into a huge issue, pointing out he made up for it, that it was unintentional, I understand all that. But circulating and being happy about the OG clip, seeing nothing wrong with it to begin with, & shaming people for calmly expressing disappointment was all weird to me.

Reagan is my oc for my absolute FAVORITE game, cryptid crush

Xe’re actually based on my interpretation of what a scientifically plausible Chupacabra would be like so I ramble about that below the cut

Xe play the bass guitar, run a little record store in Longhope, and write and record songs in xyr free time (I’d describe what kind but I have zero understanding of music genres) Xe’re like, 30 years old. Like 6’3” (190.5 cm). Use xe/xem. And are polyamorous, somewhere on the bi spectrum (no one can fucking agree on the difference between bisexual pansexual polysexual and omnisexual so I gave up), and enby. Xe’re from a relatively large family down in Mexico (fuck if I know where, maybe like, more northern??? Idfk. And yes Reagan is fluent in both Spanish and English) who maintain their own farm and put a lot of importance on continuing the family business. Reagan left to pursue xyr interest in music, get a change of scenery, and forge xyr own adulthood outside of farmlife.

AND NOW ONTO GIZMOS-N-GADGETS BEING A FUCKING NERD i realized when making this that a lot of yall probably don’t know that im a huge zoology enthusiast and a massive fucking nerd so prepare yourselves

The chupacabra is one of those cryptids where no one can fucking agree on what it looks like. Is it bipedal? Is it quadrupedal? Does it have scales? Skin? Hair? What about a tail, does it have one? Does it have spines running down its back? Does it have giant red glowing eyes? Does it have wings? is it more dog like? Or more humanoid? No one can fucking decide! So, I prioritized figuring out something that accommodated for this nonsense and as many of the reported traits as a could.

First things first, the discourse between if it’s quadrupedal or bipedal. I thought a good way to settle that was giving it the base body structure of an animal that is mostly bipedal but appears (if not essentially is) quadrupedal at other times. That being a kangaroo. Not to mention several sighting do attribute the chupacabra to having a more kangaroo like body plan, having a long and sturdy tail, or being able to jump very well. Starting with this, I decided to stick with my chupacabra being a marsupial because A. a lot of the sightings (particularly more recent ones) settle on the creature appearing more doglike or at least mammalian, and B. marsupials are fucking weird. I use this kangaroo inspiration in xyr massive fucking claws, xyr back foot shape, xyr general tale shape, xyr general head shape, xyr pouch, and xyr coloring.

Next I want to address the sheer amount of sightings and descriptions that attribute it to being more reptilian. Since I settled on this being a mammal, this actually gives us a pretty clear solution. Pangolins. I use this pangolin inspiration in xyr massive fucking claws, xyr coloration, and xyr scales. Not only do they help with the bipedal/quadrupedal discourse (they switch between both, they walk like little therapods, it’s adorable) but they also have “scales” despite being mammals. These scales are made from keratin, the same material our hair (and fingernails but that’s not relevant yet) is made of, meaning at one point In evolution, these scales were likely somewhat specialized or modified hair.

Which segways us nicely to our next point. What animal do we thing of when we think of modified/specialized hair? Porcupines. I used quills similar to that of a porcupine (specifically the African crested porcupine) to reference the commonly attributed spine ridge. Also, while quills can fall out and be grown back, pangolin scales cannot, but for the sake of this, I decided that Reagan can lose and regrow both xyr spines and xyr scales.

Next; teeth. So in various earlier sightings of the chupacabra, or rather, sightings of its aftermath, the livestock found drained fully of blood were reported to have three puncture marks were the blood was supposedly removed from. This makes us think teeth. However, the jaw structure of mammals (among many other kinds of animals) is bilateral, we can’t have one tooth in the middle and have an uneven number of teeth. So what I did was I took a page out of the book of the vampire bat, the only MAMMAL who is known to DRINK BLOOD (like the chupacabra, this fell into place so well, omg), and took the top middle most incisors, pushed them together, and made them really long and really sharp, making them almost appear as one saber tooth. Then I simply took the bottom canines and made those long and sharp af. However, these teeth can’t properly fit in its jaw, so we go to an extinct species of MARSUPIAL (this worked out so well for me dear gods) known as the thylacosmilus which has a large cavity in its lower jaw that its saber teeth would slot into. So basically sheathes for swords or knives but they’re built into Reagan’s skull and it’s to fit xyr teeth. As for the rest of the teeth in the jaw ref, I based them mainly off a mix of domestic dog teeth and opossum teeth.

(Sidenote: I have a feeling production asked them to choose the scary one. I felt like Boom was leaning towards choosing the easier rooms at the beginning, but camera cuts off and when it returns he selects the most popular horror game instead. To their credit, Boom did admit that he didn't mind scary games, and was the only useful person in that team 😅)

Well, I did feel sorry for Boom when he had to go through that Final Destination-esque MRI machine because Smart admitted he was claustrophobic:

I love that Boom couldn't believe Smart was sacrificing him to the MRI machine TWICE, the abandoned tunnel, AND that separate patient's room in the span of an hour.
