We need to talk more about pathfinder elves, because these twinks were definitely made with fans in mind. Specifically shippers. Elven relationships are just webs of rivalries that are notorious for turning into friendships and more. So enemies to lovers is so common they spend have the society section on it.

They're aliens. Like they aren't from the fey, they're from a magical nature paradise planet and just happen to live with fey. Also gives them some interesting traits if you look close, like irises that take up most of thier eye and skin/hair that slowly adapts to match thier environment.

They don't forbid themselves from shorter lived species, they just curate their relationships hard so their natural sense of time passing doesn't get skewed. So the constant "oh but do I let this be the one human in my life, it could alter me forever" drama.

They're drama queens, like snooping around for secrets is a morally good action in thier society.

Basically all thier feats (special ability options) revolve around thier relationship with shorter lived species, despite totally swearing off them. Not being able to take thier threats seriously, or being so angsty about thier lifespans even magic struggles to rouse you emotionally, or getting heroic bursts of speed because they might not live long but they aren't dying YET.

They really are twinks. Like they're taller than humans, but with thier flaw and starting HP they're tied for the most physically frail. The twigs are all limbs, they're built like they're straight out of certain shojo. Or Code Geass.

The drow (evil subterranean elves) aren't messed up in the D&D way. They're a bunch of warring cutthroat nobles, full of petty politics and horrific experiments. They were driven underground by an apocalypse and warped by the need to survive, only staying together because they're technically less likely to die while united. So if you want dark court drama, you're covered.

One of thier two main diety representations is Calistria, the patron of sex workers. She's the goddess of vengeance, lust, hedonism, and trickery. But she considers it a MORAL FAILING to get too caught up in the vengence. "Treat your own wounds first." Get your revenge, spectacularly and thoroughly, but keep it just to the one who wronged you and don't lose yourself to the hunt. And yes, lust and sex work, but don't do anything you're not comfortable with trying or try to force someone out of thier comfort. The goddess of lust is very clear on consent, because personal freedom is important. She specifically hunts down those too powerful to be punished, summoning spirits to enact whatever punishments the people you wronged dream of. Another reason for patron of sex workers. Plenty of space for spicy stories of sex and vengeance.

I have to mention the iconic one, Merisiel is a delightful rogue lesbian in a relationship with the priest. Which I just think is neat, especially since that means half the original iconic characters are a lesbian powercouple. I also love that she's described as "Never the sharpest knife in the drawer, as the saying goes, Merisiel has learned to make up for this by carrying at least a dozen of them on her person." This isn't really an elf fact I just wanted you to know.

3. MS-06 Zaku II (Mobile Suit Gundam)

A classic design from a classic series - the one spiky pauldron, the cyclopean helmet, the hoses everywhere, but I think the best design element are the legs and feet, which manage to be chunky and elegant at the same time.

2. ATM-09-ST Scopedog (Armored Trooper VOTOMS)

I love how textured this thing is - makes it feel like a real piece of military hardware. The rotating tri-scope mounted in the visor is a beautiful and satisfying piece of design. You can't see it in these pics, but it's got motorized heelies in its feet, so AT fights in VOTOMS involve a lot of skating around, which is a very funny thing for an otherwise very grounded mecha to do. These are also tiny as far as mecha go, like ten or eleven feet tall. By contrast,

NZ-666 Kshatriya (Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn)

This thing is a fucking behemoth. You can see the Zaku DNA in the legs and the helmet, but mostly this mobile suit looks like a death angel, which it is. It fights using "funnels" - you can see them sticking out of the underside of the wings there - which are remotely-piloted laser drones for omnidirectional battlefield saturation. The wings also contain thrusters and serve as armor in a pinch, meaning this thing is huge, fast, maneuverable, and not even slightly fair. Unicorn was not a good show but this thing rules extremely hard.

If we're not talking about Real Robot, there's a bunch of designs I like - some of the Knightmare Frames from Code Geass (especially the Lancelot with its habit of zooming down alleys by bracing its wheels against opposite walls, and the Guren Mk II and its ability to literally melt enemy mecha with its fuck-off big hand), the Gunbuster from Gunbuster (star-crowned head, insane rocket ship pauldrons, and the fact that I cry every time I watch Gunbuster), and the Knight Sabers' hardsuits from Bubblegum Crisis (especially Priss'). And if we're going to throw in games, I'm gonna say Warframe's Valkyr (her flayed escaped experiment vibe and explosive brutality are hard to match as far as design goes), Battletech's Spider (the only BattleMech I know of that even approaches iconic design), and - I know all the Lancer trannies are supposed to love HORUS mecha, but for my money the actual good mecha designs are mostly Harrison Armories. HORUS and Smith-Shimano mechs are mostly weird guys. Harrison Armories' Genghis is a Machine Built to Set You On Fire.
