to be honest every time i watch the spoke uus2 episodes i always find myself circling back to the ending of the big wormhole vid.

something about how he questions why he did any of that, and more specifically: why he followed the rules of his challenge. something about how the 100 days format is a challenge, how spoke refuses to leave until those 100 days are up, and how power hungry he’s been getting i think is what makes me always end up thinking about that clip again.

he doesn’t know why he’s doing this, only that he needs power, he needs to be at the top, to call himself the most powerful. and only when he’s at the bottom does he understand why he needed to do it in the first place… like he’s blinded by the pursuit to be the best and doesn’t stop to think. and it’s so similar to what he says at the end of that wormhole video.

and tangentially:

it’s like it’s the more childish part of him that just needs to be up there, does anything to climb up there, who doesn’t know when to stop and who doesn’t know what the boundaries are… everything is apart of this game everything is apart of this challenge; i will trample whoever i need to get to where i want.

it’s like he’s detached from everything, and that’s where i think the editing choices come in. the more “childish” music and style, the narration, it’s all showing this sense of detachment and disassociation from the people in the server and his actions. it’s just a game. it’s just a challenge. it’s something that he has to win no matter what.

he doesn’t regard himself as a “villain” because isn’t this what everyone wants? to be the most powerful? he’s not a villain because everyone wants this.

After the episode I enjoyed seeing all the chains, circles, cycles, and webs of the 118 saving one another that people came up with.

For me though, what I found funny and what struck me was that Tommy has directly participated in or aided the rescue of every one of the most recent members of the 118 except Buck.

I like this thing Viva has going on with her cape being her safety blanket. Especially since it’s literally a patch of fake grass which could also be used to camouflage herself.

Like we’re introduced to her with it on, but only when she finds Poppy and gets excited does she take it off, like rips it off.

And it stays off for the whole song. It’s only later when Poppy starts asking Viva about their separation does Viva visibly get uncomfortable and puts the cape back on as she leaves.

That cape stays on even when Poppy and them all leave. The last time we see it on is when Viva appears with Bridget to help in the fight. She admits she’s freaking out but she takes her cape off anyway and it never comes back.

It gets flung in the water, sis had no intention of getting it back. But I think that’s really cool because this was Viva putting herself on the line, taking a leap of faith for people she loves even when she’s lived in fear for so long.

I don't engage with ship war stuff cause I personally believe anyone can ship and like anything as long as it's not weird as hell and illegal ( and I just don't like drama ) but - SPOILERS btw - If Tommy does come back , it's quite literally gonna be all about Eddie no matter what ( again ) . It's been explicitly told that Buck's gonna be struggling with Eddie leaving , every decision he's gonna make and everything he's gonna say is gonna ( mostly ) be ABOUT Eddie and how all his emotions will be conflicting with dealing with him being gone and him not understanding why exactly . Buck Bothered and Bewildered was all about Eddie in the first place whether you like it or not , Tommy's a plot device for Buddie , that is quite literally a fact at this point . If he fucks Tommy then it's gonna be all about Eddie , if he tells Tommy off , it's gonna be all about Eddie , if he reconciles with Tommy , it's gonna be all about Eddie . And that's insane . Buck's ' misplaced feelings ' and ' trouble accepting ' Eddie leaving are gonna probably make him do some things that might be incredibly stupid so just keep that in mind with whatever happens with this episode tonight , Buck's gonna be the true dumb bi chaotic little puppy he is

I hate how relatable Phoenix is in JFA. His friend/rival/enemy/favorite person/partner/crush/it's complicated died by suicide (allegedly) and instead of unpacking any sort of complicated feelings related to that, he just digs his heels and refuses to engage with it. He not only doesn't tell Maya, who has every right to know what happened, he forbids her from talking about Edgeworth outright. He clings to the idea that Edgeworth died because he "clung to his foolish pride" because the anger is easier. It's easier to mourn when you've convinced yourself the person you've lost isn't worth mourning. It's easier than confronting the fact that maybe you didn't do enough... or maybe you did too much. Don't make me look at it. Don't make me think about it. Please. Please please please please
