i was wondering your opinion on the relative toxicity of the punnet square of the possible radiostatic genderbends. imo from most to least healthy it would go m/m > f(al)/m(vox) >>> m(al)/f(vox) > f/f but what are your thoughts?

fwiw, the straight radiostatic fic you wrote a while back, lady’s first? i’m convinced it’s the greatest literary masterpiece of this generation + have reread it enough times to recite it from memory lmao. i’d kill or at least commit mild wrongdoings for fem al + vox.

I LOVE this question and have in fact pondered it in the past!! I almost fully agree with you, and I think the small point of my disagreement is dependent on what you even consider healthy/toxic. Here's my take on least to most toxic, with two asterisks: firstly, any M!Vox I write is probably at least implicitly trans; secondly, I write Alastor as agender and presenting per the gender roles raised with, which you might think makes for a less gender-role-susceptible character but in fact often does the opposite.

M!Vox/F!Alastor: Least toxic, largely as a function of Vox being raised alongside "how a gentleman treats a lady" manners and actually respecting Alastor('s terrifying nature) enough to apply them. She's not like other ladies (Madonna/whore)! Not to be confused with NOT being toxic, because any iteration of fem!Alastor is going to have a bunch of personal hangups re: gender role expectations and how they intersect with being aroace. Lifelong bachelor is unfortunately a more socially acceptable position than spinster or old maid.

M!Vox/M!Alastor: Slightly more toxic. You can extract a lot (but not all) of the misogyny, but as a direct consequence you have knocked down some of the nominal barriers to them choosing to be incredibly fucking violent, inconsiderate, and/or sleazy (mostly Vox for the latter).

F!Vox/M!Alastor: F!Vox is fucking unhinged but I simply do not think that Alastor would be interested in her like that. Women are to be respected and befriended, not dated. Insert some of the misogyny back in, this time from Alastor's well-intentioned but nonetheless condescending end, and a possible breakup if Vox doesn't back the fuck off eventually. She might fistfight Rosie, though, and Alastor would probably think that's awfully precocious of her.

F!Vox/F!Alastor: You think my radiostatic yaoi didn't know how to communicate, you have not MET my radiostatic yuri, who are actively refusing to do so for reasons ranging from self-consciousness to outright ill-intent. The most toxic by a large margin. I think Vox would take one look at misogyny and gender roles and use them to her advantage in any way possible, and Alastor would simply not want to reveal or reach out for help when she is feeling off-balance and also has gendered expectations regarding sex and relationships (desire for, experience of, and active/passive participation in) that jive poorly with her internalized aphobia, which Vox in turn would take advantage of. My happiest ending for these two amounts to Vox accidentally realizing that Alastor is capable of leaving, and also making Alastor feel bad makes her feel bad, too. Sometimes.

Also, I'm so fucking happy you enjoyed Lady's First! I had a great time writing it and thinking about the ways I think gender is an interplay with these two characters. It's definitely one of those fics that I'm really happy about how it turned out, and it always brings me joy when others like it as well, esp because I'm still coming from the mental frame of assuming my audience doesn't really care about reading shippy works that aren't m/m.

So I’ve been exploring Styxia now that 3.2 has released and I’m thinking about Reader following Dan Heng and the Trailblazer onto Amphoreus after some time has passed since they lost contact (and the hashtag WheresDanHeng is trending)—

—except Reader lands on Styxia (with practically no issue since Nikador is dead and Aquila is off doing who tf knows what).

They turn around, they see the ruins and the giant twin moons in the sky, and they’re thinking: 👀 “I could make this into a backdrop…”

And the next thing anyone knows after Reader manages to make it into Okhema, they’ve gone and made a new social media account to upload their old and new stuff like music videos and gaming streams (all of this before meeting Aglaea) and Reader’s making massive waves and their subscriber count skyrockets within less than a day.

Anaxa didn’t hit the subscribe button because he’s going to die anyway and nobody knows if the Nether Realm has any WiFi, but he likes what he sees.

Aglaea is grumbling because she didn’t reach Reader in time to tell them NOT to upload anything — but even she hits the subscribe button.

This is exactly the kind of chaos I live for—Reader stepping onto a decaying divine-theocratic wasteland and going, "Yup. Influencer backdrop."

The moment they see those twin moons and the crumbling god-tech ruins, it's over. They're already posing for thumbnails and lining up camera angles like,

while we're on the subject of collections, here's all of mine! featuring ponies, the last unicorn, pokemon, and etc

these are my G4s and G3 favorites, all this stuff is crammed onto my one desk so it's not the most ideal for now lol. There are many more brushables but they just don't fit

right above those is my etc tier, mostly dragons and a couple Scar related things, adventure time, and LPS (more pending once I can find the rest)

the top tier featuring all my godzillas minus the 3 foot long giant one! in front with the chicken feather is 2014 goji, in the back with pinkie pie is 2019. you can also see Deet from dark crystal: age of resistance (highly recommend, it's on netflix but only has one season since it got cancelled in true netflix fashion), as well as my buddies Amelia and Rom from bloodborne, and the pyramid is a beetle my grandfather encased in resin back in the 80s for unknown reasons. on the wall to the left is a newspaper clipping of an ad for godzilla vs mothra from the 50s!

more ponies incoming, these are all my G1s, my changeling collection (still growing, I want an entire swarm), my mostly finished customs, and my Tabitha St. Germain corner to the right with Minty and Ditzy! In the back is the D&D/mlp collab figures. The sign on the wall I found at a thrift store and it says "horses gather here" lol

my last unicorn collection! this is the collection I'm most proud of, the displayed one to the right is a first edition I snagged for $70. The only editions I have left to collect are the super expensive deluxe/limited version (which just got harder thanks to Suntup releasing three VERY expensive special editions this year), but some of you will remember I did get super lucky earlier this year and unknowingly got a limited print, signed edition of the lost version for $3! so altogether I think the collection is worth around $1300

my pin collection! <3 some are in a display box and some are on my go bag so this isn't everything. the keychains are from my personal shop, a couple con badges I got in a merch trade (which I'm always open for if anyone's interested! I trade merch or art).

last one for now, this is the first page of my card collection! I'm not gonna show images of them all but these are the cool guys, I got these guys in a full 1996(? whenever the first printing was) japanese display box back when I was 15 for about $25, so that was quite the massive steal. These are technically leftovers, I've got all 3 starter evos and mewtwo in acrylic cases to display, and these guys are all double sleeved haha. I've got a lot of MTG cards as well but they're all in deck being used (if anyone else is into magic the gathering, do talk with me about it, I freaking love magic hahaha)

I call it a “writeback race” (title pending) & here’s the quick gist so yall dont scroll too fast like em gen alphas with negative attention span

Combination of a writing prompt and writing challenge, though more linked and bouncy

Responding-based; a ‘writeback’ system where yall react to stories/poems made in conjunction with or in reaction to yours

Setting parameters for the writebacks! Def not full creative control but a lil touch to warn off iffy genres/topics or challenge those ppl or jus be funky

1 prompt to rule them all… at least for 3 weeks. Then a 1 week break before I chuck out another piece and prompt

Ergo a big beautiful collection (suck it orange man) where works that got at least a couple writebacks will be collated & posted on a website; ofc w/ permission & creds

So i crunched up all the big parts but for youse who got more time, here’s an explanation of the (theoretical) process!!

Exhibit A: how it starts

Say, on a Tuesday, I post a short story. 2k wc. Before the piece, there’s the prompt i used (eg pinterest, tumblr, random thought) & parameters I set for myself. Ofc trigger/content warnings. And then, the story proper!

Here, maybe 5 peeps react with their stories, and i can—do whatever combo i want; i’d writeback to two separate stories… and then surprise, a writeback to my writeback is smtg reaaally fun, so i use my last chance on that!

3 weeks a is a long time and while u could go at it on guesswork, collab is great! Communication’s great. Sliding into dms to ask about idk, how the economy works in their fictional world. Aint just the stories reacting to ea other, but writers to the stories and writers to the writers

At the end, wow great, the last work i reacted to ended up with three more works, one branching out to two more. This is all messy. Cross platforms, posts lost to the social media void. Solution—i’ll do the heavy lifting and tie those writeback series up & neatly organised on the race’s site

Then i rest. We rest. Maybe we hang out on discord with new buds or maybe yall disappear till the next race starts up again

All of this is hypothetical. This challenge race idea’s mainly an excuse I can write and actually have ppl interact with it. But this is a plan very very very much focused on active collaboration—and even if i get to duplicate my ass, we aint getting along as well or as fun as with actual people and actual other writers and creatives
