Something in the Orange is out now!

Stuck in a cheap motel room in middle-of-nowhere Nevada, Floch and Jean are now criminals on the run. When coming to terms with their rather urgent situation, they must reflect on their lives, what they’ve done, and figure out what hard decisions they must make next. Something in the Orange is a #FJPride month entry for the prompt Orange. Although the story itself isn’t based entirely on the lyrics, it is influenced by some included lines in the song “Something in the Orange” by Zach Bryan.

Hi so I finally wrote something! I'm excited to share Something in the Orange for FloJean Pride Month. Technically this is my longest one shot and I really enjoyed writing it so I hope anyone who reads it enjoys it as well! Kudos/Comments always appreciated :)

Is yellow a friendly color?

Soo yellow.. is the color of sunflowers, lemons, one of my old school colors, it tells us to be cautious and not go 100mph with a minor baby sister in the car.. or the color of the sun. Yellow was one of the first colors used in art due to the wide availability of yellow ochre pigment. Ancient Egyptians painted their gods in yellow so that it would resemble gold. From the 14th century onward, yellow has become the color of envy, jealousy, treason, the color that cannot be trusted. Once the color of the sun and gold, yellow became one of the least popular shades. Its dubious reputation has endured until today; compared to other colors, yellow often stands as a symbol of negative personality traits. Which in a way is just utter rude. Associated with abundance and joy, warmth, energy, brightness. Yellow is like an injection of serotonin. So it can in a way help with the depresso of mental health issues with the said injection of serotonin. From the ancient nature-based religions to the modern-day patriarchal practices, the sun is literally a source of life! As a wise artist once said.

HOWEVER, it can also be a symbol of fatigue. Like my introverted battery when I have to go outside and socialize with PEOPLE. SO for the moment, let's talk about the color yellow and its philosophy and now a musing art angel like me uses its colors.

Yellow personality types are very cerebral. They approach life from a very analytical perspective focusing on logic, reason, and reliable information. These people tend to be leaders due to their tendency to want to control the situation and their gift for words and social interactions. With their vast knowledge on topics of interest, Yellow people tend to be capable educators and public speakers who have a responsible and authoritative presence. FYI: I will be utilizing the Additive Color Wheel for determining complementary colors because I have found this to provide the most effective color harmonies when working on this. The traditional Red-Yellow-Blue Color Wheel is for pigment mixing and is less relevant to current study. Yellow (Complimentary Color - Violet)

Positive Aspects This is the quintessential color of positive energy! With Yellow’s correlation to the sun, and its innately light value in comparison to the other warm colors on the spectrum, we can feel our burdens lifting as the world takes on a glow. We can use these uplifting qualities to draw on Yellow for hope, cheerfulness, optimism and friendship. However, Yellow can also lend us more of its intellectual properties as well in areas of logic, reason, discernment, decisiveness, confidence, and communication.

Negative Aspects When we look at the effects of lower vibrations of this hue we see control and intelligence used for maliciousness, vindictive behavior, and deception. Even the more typical Yellow personalities can get “stuck in their head” too often leading to depression, a deep pessimism, distrust, heavy anxiety, and emotional instability.

Physical Effects Yellow is directly connected to the nervous system and activates the liver, gallbladder, and the flow of bile. It’s especially effective at treating inflammation in joints such as arthritis, rheumatism, and gout as well as relieving constipation and indigestion by promoting proper bowel movement. This is a fantastic detox color as it works to purge your body by flushing mucus, cleansing the bloodstream, and activating the lymphatic system. Yellow also promotes the body’s natural flow of pancreatic insulin making it a great color for those suffering from diabetes. Yellow does stimulate brain function allowing clear thought and critical thinking however it is not recommended for those suffering from anxiety, severe mental illness, or neurosis.

Color Affirmations I embody the power of Yellow and radiate confidence! I call on Yellow to bring clarity of thought and decisive action. Yellow glow cleanses my body and refreshes my mind. I bring hope and a positive outlook to each new day through the color Yellow.

Yellow is attention-grabbing Well not for my slightly wide hips and bust LOL but it is true. Yellow can be used in a small amount to draw notice to people or an object, such as on traffic signs or that one REALLY ANNOYING advertisement. Put in the comments below if you know which one I mean. Yellow is difficult to read? Yellow is also the most fatiguing to the eye due to the high amount of light that is reflected. Using yellow as a background on paper,your altar, or computer monitors can lead to eye strain or vision loss in extreme cases. Energetic as all hell! As a fellow art angel on the ADHD board, I can vouch for this. They also boost metabolism. Metabolism refers to the process of converting food Mother earth gives us to put our bodies into the energy that allows said body to properly function. People who have a fast metabolism use up calories more quickly than those with slower metabolisms. One way you can increase your metabolism is by exercising. So consider this when you are thinking about that one witchy fitness outfit. Yellow is warm Yellow is of a warm personality and people who wear yellow give or take also have warm cheery personalities. Heck some stores even have their work uniforms as yellow cause they want you to be warmed and welcomed by the staff. and I bet doubloons to doughnuts you have something warm and welcoming in front of your house that is inviting. Yellow is Frustration Yellow can also create feelings of frustration and anger in people. Maybe this is why I don't like neon freaking yellow. While it is as I said and described considered a cheerful happy go lucky color to some, other people are more likely to lose their tempers in yellow rooms and babies tend to cry more in yellow rooms. So in short…yellow is a complex color, and however you use it better have the right emotions and intentions attached.
