Oooh, nice! I forgot about acronyms with numbers like that!
I have since learned that a nested acronym is called a "macronym", and the wikipedia article for that suggests "RARS" and "VITAL" as possible contenders:
VITAL -> "VHDL Initiative Towards ASIC Libraries" VHDL -> "VHSIC Hardware Description Language" VHSIC -> "Very High Speed Integrated Circuit" ASIC -> "Application-specific integrated circuit"
VITAL -> "Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Initiative Towards Application-specific integrated circuit Libraries"
Ratio: 93/5 = 18.6 (not good enough)
RARS -> "Regional ATOVS Retransmission Service" ATOVS -> "Advanced TOVS" TOVS -> "TIROS operational vertical sounder" TIROS -> "Television infrared observational satellite"
So RARS -> "Regional Advanced Television Infrared Observational Satellite Operational Vertical Sounder Retransmission Service"
Ratio: 103/4 = 25.75 (better)
There are also apparently a lot of symbols in protein naming, so e.g. the NACHT protein domain technically has a whopping ratio of 39.8, but some of the expansions aren't actually acronyms or initialisms, like HET being short for the "heterokaryon incompatibility protein" domain:
NACHT -> "NAIP, C2TA, HET-E, TEP1" NAIP -> "NLR family apoptosis inhibitory protein" NLR -> "NOD-like receptor" NOD-like -> "nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like" C2TA -> "class 2 major histocompatibility complex transactivator" HET -> "Heterokaryon incompatibility protein" (the -E is just a classifier, AFAICT) TEP1 -> "Telomerase protein component 1"
NACHT -> "Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor family apoptosis inhibitory protein, class 2 major histocompatibility complex transactivator, Heterokaryon incompatibility protein E, Telomerase protein component 1"
Ratio: 199/5 = 39.8
But it's not entirely fair to even call NACHT an acronym, since it's not actually short for "NAIP, C2TA, HET-E, TEP1", those are just common examples of things in that domain.
XHR stands for "XML HTTP Request", where XML is the "eXtensible Markup Language" and HTTP is the "Hypertext Transfer Protocol", so the full expansion of XHR is "extensible markup language hypertext transfer protocol request", so those 3 letters expand to 56 letters (62 with spaces), and this got me wondering, there must be acronyms or initialisms with an even greater ratio of "expanded length"/"unexpanded length", but apart from recursive acronyms I can't think of longer examples.
Can anyone else think of any?

i made this in excel and then immediately froze my computer trying to zoom out so i could see from row 1 to 321
this a screenshot of a picture in a word document, which took 15 min to make
more detail in the reblog here
#i kinda needed to print it out so i can figure out how the string/knots will work#(this is a start for a pattern btw#i calculated the average height and length of a knot and used the ratio on the pixel setting)#I bet 2 euros that I miscalculated the length of the knots and it will turn out shorter/compressed lengthwise#commander cody#marshal commander cody#• ● •

Differences between the first trailer for P3 and the final game.
Opening part 1
The Atlus logo is more saturated.

All the 2d cutscenes have no interlacing. Relatedly, they're also at a higher framerate.
The aspect ratio is taller in the final. Mostly, you can see more of the images.
The tower rotates in the background differently. It seems to be the same model, just offset a bit.

The text elaborating on Memento Mori doesn't slide in until Memento Mori has. The grey box also isn't starting to disappear.

The road has more detail instead of being a grey smudge.

This cut is hard instead of a fade. There's also two ms in sum.

The butterfly actually has a few less frames before the cut.

The afterimage of the text is slightly different.

The afterimage of this text doesn't mirror how the background is segmented.

The screen flashes before turning dark. In the final, it stays dark for both frames.

The Persona and Shadow words are different.

This scene ends later: the red line folds in on itself, instead of ending as a square.

The red dots are bigger, meaning that there are less of them and they're placed differently. They become the same when the tear arrives, meaning that they also must zoom in slower.

Aigis isn't properly alligned with the cuts in the screen, which got fixed in the final.

It stays on this shot for only about 2 frames, while the final lingers for about 6.

#persona 3#get ready#only the first 2 are actual screenshots of the game the rest are the raw sfds since i need the right frame#so the aspect ratio of all of them is different but you can still tell the finals are taller because they have more of the image in them#yes i am going through this frame by frame its really interesting#im not counting colour differences because it might just be recording/compression on both sides#plus you can see them yourself

Calculating Compression Ratio
Image from Wikipedia The compression ratio of an internal combustion engine is a key factor in determining its performance and efficiency. It represents the ratio between the volume of the cylinder and combustion chamber when the piston is at the bottom of its stroke (Bottom Dead Center, BDC) and the volume when the piston is at the top of its stroke (Top Dead Center, TDC). Here’s how you can…

HSR + HOT THINGS HE DOES WHILE DOING IT
— ꒰ including ꒱ — aventurine, dr ratio, sunday, boothill x fem! reader
— ꒰ warnings ꒱ — [ex]plicit, dom hsr characters, oral (fem! receiving) & fingering, established relationship, hitting it raw, dirty talk, tit play + biting & marking, prone bone ⊹ ‧₊˚ ᰔ
— ꒰ AVENTURINE ꒱ + shamelessly moans into your ears
his moans have that kind of power that attack you with the lightest bit of touch but rumble inside your nerves with an utmost generosity that continued to burn an everlasting need into the rigid twist of your belly. he flips you over to your stomach and kneads the handful of flesh on your ass, greedily as his hands retreat— now, he uses his hand to keep your hips sealed against his aching half, while the other was positioned next to your head to refrain his weight from leaning and crushing against you.
aventurine's mouth was hot against your ear, too hot, in fact, that your body manifests swells of electric jumps on your limbs and muscles, your blood thrumming as you're audibly hissing out petulant sobs through your slacked jaw.
"tell me how it feels, yeah?" he sighs between gritted teeth, savoring the anticipation as his eyes squeeze shut, hips aligned and drawing his oozy tip against your entrance before pressing into your hole.
"ugh, fuck—" he grunts, "you'll mess me up today, hm?" as he moans deeply into your ear, so grateful to you as you shakily exhale through your mouth, your hole melting around his thick shaft before he inches further through your plushy walls.
aventurine was unashamed of gasping out those lecherous noises for you, brazen to the point where he's telling you how you feel as you squeeze him and cloud his mind with your milking compression indulging in him, "aah— you feel so nice, so soft, i'm losing my mind," he cheekily laughs between his whines, feeling elevated.
he kisses your neck as you sob, your walls feeling all of him inside as you exhale between a shaken embrace— but it's telling how much it turned you on when your boyfriend was this vocal with the pleasure you caused on him, his tongue darting across your neck before he loudly groans into the skin, your hole tensing and letting go, tensing and letting go, adding pressure again.
your eyes roll back as he grinds himself in you, always holding against your ass to fondle with the skin as he repeatedly pressures and pulls his cock through your creamy hole, entering all his inches inside an eager cuddle.
the sensation of having him claim your body in such way made your stomach do flips and tumbles, and the hums into your ear only multiplied the ways you responded to him with fizzy tears pulling at your lashes. right there, aventurine spills his brazen moans right against your ear, shamelessly between affectionate words of love, sending your inmost nerves into hard overdrive.

— ꒰ DR RATIO ꒱ + pulls your face to him before you climax
before he advances forward to his original plan, veritas will make you feel like you're mounting off pleasure and ah, your silhouette was charming to look at, no? you're so sweet when you hide your face from him. yet he doesn't understand why you're so embarrassed to show your flustered state? regardless, he loves when you do that, hiding the real taste, doesn't matter if he's suckling on your clit or watching how you suck him off, you're always warding off his enticing gaze.
the tantalizing signs of your embarrassment were enough for dr ratio to focus on all the different regions of your body— not only that, but he inspects your breathing and how it shudders through you, not to mention how it hitches when he grinds into your cunt.
with that, he can determine that you prefer it faster, although mixed in with a couple slow grinds once he's sheathed himself fully inside. a combination of both can do a lot more, and channeling it into one was his speciality. you're making it just that easy for him.
you wonder why? well, it's because you make everything look so sexy that it's so easy to figure you out.
after finding the perfect tempo for the both of you, your warmth clamps around him before losing yourself in each precise, calculated push of his hips overloading from the feeling of being close to you, or ah, being one with you, correct? it's how you're throbbing and creaming his entire base full that he realizes you're right there, feeling an upcoming wave of pleasure making itself visible.
"i'm cumming, i'm, aah, fuck," you moan beneath his hypnotizing pair of eyes as his hips rush through you, spreading your poor, little cunt apart as your hole flexes around his shaft. veritas knew he had to be quick with it, so after hearing you sob and wince, he draws himself off your neck and cups your face roughly, casting his eyes on you.
the man was gorgeous and he knew it, much to your dismay— he could also be a total idiot about how annoyingly handsome he was and that he always knew how to use it to his benefit— although in this moment, his face was soused in his sweat, messed up around his forehead and covered with fizzling lust for you.
a strangled cry rips from your throat and vibrates through his eardrums as your body vividly shakes under him. you're whimpering at the embarrassment of having him look at you while he's forcing the eye contact with his hand bending around the softness of your cheek.
you had no idea how much of a difference it made to look at him and become so, vulnerable.
you squirm under his searing silhouette, crying out the most beautiful sounds as your sore hole twitching around the base, utterly spent as veritas only admires the glow in your eyes, nothing more and nothing else.
the two of you exhale shakily in your afterglow, wet skin clinging to the sheet and relishing in its dirtiness.

— ꒰ SUNDAY ꒱ + kisses your clit before going down on you
he holds himself back, he needs to, because fighting the urge to bury his face where you needed him the most was always worth it— before he latches on your clit, he uses his rough thumbs to push the plushy skin protecting your clit aside to plant his plump lips over it, ghosting his mouth on top as he's almost successful enough to distract you from two digits bumping against your weeping hole.
sunday adjusts his face on your pussy before planting a wet kiss on your clit, his lusting eyes turning dark in the dark light as he roams two fingers inside your cloying hole, "give it to me, i know you can do it," he takes each necessary step to make you arch your back and gush all over him— your bothered silhouette making his cock ache and balls throb in his boxers.
his digits ascend over the slopes of your velvet walls as he presses delirious sensations on your cunt before spitting on your pussy repeatedly, messily grinning against your folds when you wince to every single droplet of his saliva hitting your cunt.
what doesn't come as a surprise is that sunday likes being messy with it— he needs to feel the wetness, the sheer contact of a hot tongue on your throbbing skin that he asks himself, can you feel it too? oh silly, of course you can, there was no room for debate by how you're reacting to it.
he swallows your arousal pooling on his tongue as he laps at your clit while his fingers graze along the sponginess of your walls, your pussy holding and clenching around the two digits. your eyes were half lidded, almost closed, your body so responsive that your cunt pulses at nothing but the tip of his tongue nudging into your clit.
"so obedient you are, my dear," he rasps before your fingers slope around the loose strands of his hair to press him into your heat, your back arching and your cunt spasming as you ride his face.
sunday hums happily, satiated, "what a good girl you are," he praises you enlaced in a wanton voice, thrusting his fingers roughly as you cum inside a silent cry.

— ꒰ BOOTHILL ꒱ + teases you with his teeth
your saccharine alike face prompts a menacing grin from him as he settles you on his lap before tilting your head a little— his eyes drizzling into the space on your neck and how he could feel your heart beat from that precious spot. boothill tests the waters, his insatiable hunger for you being so painful as he sighs out excitedly. he grazes into your neck and drags the sharp edges through your sensitive skin— always holding you on his waist with one hand wrapped around while the other toyed with your soft tits.
boothill has everything under his control, okay? you needn't worry— in fact, he always tells you to not torment yourself when all you had to do was trust him with your pleasure.
a smile stretches across his face as he brazenly flattens his tongue against your neck, feeling your pulse thud on the wet muscle before squeezing your tits to mess up your focus. you cling to his strong shoulders as you arch your back when he rolls a nipple between his digits, "you like that, don't you?" he drawls, your moan bending when he pinches your tit again.
your eyes roll back, and ugh, it feels so good, his rough yet precise touches were capable to induce waves of sparks from your breasts to all the way down, hitting your aching pussy. you're humping against his thigh and drool, more so stain your panties with your slick. the swell of his bulge was heavily pressing against your clothed folds, and boothill knew it wouldn't take long until you'll beg him to fuck you.
alongside those mesmerizing touches that marked up your breasts, the man took his time and acted unhurriedly as he sucks on your neck, shielding his eyes as he dips his head right above your collarbones. your skin mists with drops of his saliva as you find his hair beneath your hands, tugging slightly at his strands.
boothill moans into your neck, the vibrations setting a fire on your wet core, "let me consume you..." you hear him murmur playfully, his sharp fangs tauntingly pressing into your neck as you arch your back, "pretty, mh, you're so good, so lovely, so pretty, and ugh," as he stammers, his tongue blazing wildly across the pulsing spot that he's bitten, a low growl rumbling in his throat as he calls your name.

1971 Plymouth GTX

1971 Plymouth GTX
1971 Plymouth GTX: The Legend of the American Muscle Car
The 1971 Plymouth GTX is considered one of the last representatives of the American muscle car era. It was one of the remarkable vehicles of its time with its performance-oriented design, powerful engine options and striking appearance. The GTX was at the top of Plymouth's sporty and high-performance car lineup and holds a special place, especially for Mopar enthusiasts.
Design:
The 1971 GTX had an aggressive and muscular design. It symbolized power and speed with its long engine hood, short rear deck, pronounced fender lines and sporty grille. The "Air Grabber" hood, which came as standard, optimized the engine's air intake and gave the vehicle an even more imposing appearance. The "GTX" logos on the sides and the optional racing stripes emphasized the sporty identity of the car. The interior had a driver-oriented design. Leather or fabric upholstery options, sporty steering wheel and instrument panel were details to increase driving pleasure.
Engine Options and Performance:
The 1971 Plymouth GTX was offered with two different V8 engine options:
* 440 CID (7.2 liter) V8: This engine, offered as standard, attracted attention with its high torque production. Fed by a four-throat carburetor, this engine offered impressive acceleration and mid-range acceleration performance.
* 426 CID (7.0 liter) Hemi V8: The optionally available Hemi engine turned the GTX into a real performance monster. With its high compression ratio and special cylinder heads, this engine was one of the most powerful American engines of the period. Hemi-powered GTXs performed exceptionally well in drag racing and high-speed driving.
While the GTXs generally came with a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission as standard, a four-speed manual transmission was also available as an option. Thanks to its powerful engines and transmission options, the 1971 GTX could reach high speeds in a short time and offered an impressive driving experience.

Making Your Podfic (especially with Music and/or Sound Effects) More Accessible and Listener Friendly
So you're planning to make a podfic with music and/or sound effects, and you want to think about ways to make it more accessible? Awesome!! This will guide you through some steps you can take to make your podfic more accessible, some of which will also make for a more pleasant listening experience for listeners without accessibility needs, but the focus will primarily be on accessibility. Some of this will also be applicable to podfics with multiple recording sessions without music or sound effects, but again, that's not the focus.
What's the number one thing you can do to make your podfic with music and/or sound effects more accessible to those with noise sensitivity, auditory processing conditions, who are somewhat hard of hearing, or other auditory accessibility needs?
MAKE A CLEAN VERSION, with NO music or sound effects! This can be a very easy change to your process for most people! After editing out mistakes and doing your audio clean up but before you add music or sound effects, simply export your audio. Upload it wherever you upload your final version, drop in a second link to the no music/sound effects version, and that's it! Of course, this may not be trivial for some people, depending on your individual process or other factors. I hope you will decide that it's worth doing anyway. As someone with audio accessibility needs myself, I can tell you it makes a HUGE difference. There are podficcers I love who I can't listen to some of what they've recorded because there's no version without music/sound effects, or sometimes I can only listen on a good day. There are fics I love where there's a podfic version, but I will never be able to listen to it because there's more music/sounds effects than I can handle. This one change will make people like me VERY happy and will expand your audience!
Secondly, especially if you've got a lot of audio dynamics (really quiet whispery bits and also really loud shouty bits), be sure to use the Compressor tool. Long story short, the compressor makes the actual noise level of the quiet bits louder and the loud bits quieter, while still leaving the impression of whispering or shouting. In other words, keep the emotion, but don't force your listeners to keep changing the volume on their headphones/speakers/hearing aid to be able to hear what you're saying or avoid getting their ears blown out (very useful for other listeners too, especially people listening on headphones or in the car). A quick overview of how to use the Compressor settings (this is for Audacity, which is what I'm most familiar with, but most audio editing tools will have something similar):
Threshold: how loud do you want to go before starting to make things quieter?
Make-up gain: after compressing the loud bits down, how much do you want to make everything louder to make up for it?
Knee width: how quickly and starkly do you want the compression to apply? At 0db, this will be a very sharp change. Lower levels will lead to less sharp changes
Ratio: for the loud bits that are getting compressed, how much compression should be applied? The higher the Ratio the more the loud parts of the audio will be compressed.
Okay, but maybe you want to ALSO make the version with music and/or sound effects more accessible, since that's your vision for the podfic and you want as many people as possible to be able to experience it? Great! PLEASE still make a version without music/sound effects as noted above, because even doing everything you can won't be enough for everyone. But it's also great to do what you can to make your music/sound effects version accessible for those that are able to enjoy it with some changes. So….what are some things you can do?
As much as possible, avoid putting music or Foley over your words. For people with audio processing issues especially, it can be very difficult to parse words when there's background music (and especially background music that itself has words).
If you're going to have music or Foley over words, make sure the words are significantly louder than the music. You can use the Analyze Contrast tool (in the Analyze menu in Audacity) to compare the relative loudness of two selections.
For music or Foley between words (like in a section break), make sure it's not too much louder or softer than the sections that come before and after. Again, use that Analyze Contrast tool to compare selections.
You can also use Analyze Contrast to even out the sound between recording sessions!
For sound effects that modify your voice, go only to the point where your voice still sounds very intelligible to you. Someone with auditory accessibility needs will likely struggle with intelligibility well before someone without those needs.
Hope this was helpful!
(This is written from my perspective as someone who has audio accessibility needs, as well as being a podficcer myself. Beta help and additional thoughts from @writerproblem193 @keriarentikai @xiaokuer-schmetterling and others not on Tumblr. But this is not The Definitive Guide To Accessibility or anything, so please add your perspective!)

。゚•┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ ꒰ა ʚɞ ໒꒱ ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈• 。゚╰┈➤ @lillycore ⦂ Hey! Can I request something else with Sukuna? Maybe collage au , where Sukuna is in college for engineering, but reader doesn’t go to university and instead focuses on being a freelance artist , but sometimes she sneaks into some of Sukuna’s courses with him? 》 ✐ᝰ YIPPEE MORE SUKUNA!! (sorry i cut out all the parenthesis for space purposes 😭) 。゚•┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ ꒰ა ʚɞ ໒꒱ ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈• 。゚
No one’s really sure when you started showing up to Sukuna’s engineering lectures.
As far as most people were concerned, you’d always been there—like you materialized out of thin air and effortlessly became part of the atmosphere.
But honestly, no one minded.
You arrived alongside your pink-haired boyfriend, and the two of you had an interesting dynamic. The two of you being highschool sweethearts, he had mellowed out over the years - most likely because of you. However, you working as a freelance artist gave you both endless time... and absolutely none at all.
While Sukuna was out at university, you’d spend hours sitting in your apartment, sketching on your tablet—a gift from him, of course. You loved it. But, no matter how much you adored your work, being alone in your apartment without quickly grew... depressing.
So, one day, wordlessly, Sukuna dragged you to one of his lectures. Without asking, he pulled out the chair beside him, muttering under his breath that you should “Behave.”
You shrugged, popped in one earbud, and settled in, drawing quietly next to him. Sukuna listened to the lecture and took notes diligently; you? You lost yourself in your art.
It didn’t take long for the professor to notice a new face in his class, though it took even longer for him to realize you were, in fact, not a student. It was when Sukuna casually asked a question about compression ratios that the professor caught sight of you humming softly, your stylus moving fluidly on your tablet.
The professor didn’t know what to do with you. But, honestly, you weren’t a distraction, so he decided it wasn’t a huge deal.
And that was how you became the honorary student in Sukuna’s Solid Mechanics class — despite not having the faintest idea what half of it meant.
It didn’t make you stupid, though.
“And so you see, as per this graph—”
Your hand shot up, and the professor paused, glancing over at you in mild surprise, as if he hadn’t expected you to speak up.
“Yes?” he addressed you calmly.
You frowned a little, twirling your stylus between your fingers. “I think there’s a part of the graph missing in the key... the green squiggly bit? It’s kind of vague about what the graph’s actually trying to show... If I’m out of place, just let me know, but would something like this be better?”
You held up your tablet, showing your version of the graph—redrawn in a clearer, more digestible way.
The professor blinked, clearly taken aback as he read over the graph. He let out a short, impressed huff. “This is quite impressive—did you draw this yourself?”
You nodded sheepishly, and the professor’s expression softened, a genuine smile crossing his face. He tapped Sukuna’s notebook, already prepared to speak to him.
“You get this sent to me, yeah? And Sukuna—” He glanced over at your boyfriend, who was now watching you with that familiar pride in his eyes. “You found yourself a good one.”
Sukuna met your gaze, his lips curling into a small but proud smirk as he leaned in to kiss your temple.

Why I started using DXT1 texture format for TS2 CC again (sometimes)
In the past I discouraged ppl from using it. But it has one benefit, which TS2 CC creators shouldn't ignore: DXT1 textures are about half the size of DXT3. In TS2 DXT1 is only used for textures without transparency.
There are two facts about textures that some ts2 cc creators and cc hoarders are probably unaware of:
Lossless compression (compressorizer etc) significantly reduces file sizes, but it does NOT help texture memory, because texture files get uncompressed before being stored in GPU texture memory cache
Byte size does NOT equal resolution. For example: Raw32Bit texture takes up around four times more space in texture memory cache than DXT5
DXT3 2048*2048 px takes up ~4MB, but DXT1 2048*2048, thanks to its harsh 8:1 compression, takes up only ~2MB of texture memory cache, which is an equivalent of two makeup textures 512*512 px Raw32Bit format (TS2 makeup creators' favourite :S ).
@episims posted a comparison of DXT formats here - but please note Epi compared texture sizes after those were compressorized. Also, I believe the DXT1 preview actually shows glitches that are not visible in the game.
To change texture format in SimPe you need to install Nvidia DDS utilities, which can be downloaded here (SFS). Yape package editor is much faster and easy to use.
*This is about GPU texture memory. As far as I know, it's unclear how internal TS2 texture memory works - does it benefit from lossless file compression or not? No idea. But IMO we don't have a reason to be optimistic about it :/ What we know for sure is - the easiest way to summon pink soup in TS2 on modern systems, is to make the game load large amounts of texture data (large for TS2 standards anyway) in a short amount of time.
DXT1 built in SimPe with Nvidia DDS Tools tend to look bad - but as I had learned very recently, SimPe DXT1 preview (and export) is broken! It displays some artifacts that are not actually visible in game!
The only way to correctly view DXT1 created in SimPe outside of the game is the new YaPe package editor. You need to switch the texture format preview to AltRGB24 (Raw24Bit).
DXT formats use lossy compression which affects texture quality - this compression matters for texture memory.
DXT1 512*512*4 (4 bytes per pixel) / 8 (divided by 8, because of 8:1 compression ratio) = ~131 KB
DXT3 512x512 px (4:1 compression) = ~262 KB
Raw32Bit 512x512 px = ~1MB
2048x1024 px DXT1 texture takes up around as much texture memory as 1024x1024 px DXT3 or DXT5 (non transparent*) = ~1 MB
*Flat (non transparent) DXT3 size is the same as DXT5.
Fun fact: flat DXT1 and DXT5 built in GIMP look identical, and also not much better than SimPe DXT1 (in game!).
DXT5 has 4:1 compression just like DXT3 but it can store more data in alpha channel, and that allows for much better looking transparency (if smooth alpha is present, size is increased). As I already mentioned, DXT1 does not support alpha transparency.
I don't want my game to look like crap, but if texture looks OK as DXT1, then why not use it. Aside from hood decor, I've been reconverting some wall and floor textures for myself to DXT1 recently, instead of resizing.
Some ppl might cringe on seeing 2048x2048 skybox textures but to me large texture is justified for such a giant object. I cringe at Raw32Bit makeup.
I'm slowly turning all Raw32 makeup content in my game to DXT5 (no mipmaps). I've edited enough of those to know, that quite often the actual texture quality is not great. If a texture has been converted to DXT3 at some point, alpha channel is a bit choppy. "Upgrading" such texture to Raw32 doesn't do anything, other than multiplying texture size by four. I don't know how 'bout you, but I only use one or two skyboxes at a time, while my sims walk around with tons of face masks on them, so it's a real concern to me. And don't make me start on mip maps in CAS CC. My game certainly doesn't need 33% larger hair texture files :S
*note - another thing I've "discovered" after writing this post, SimPe DDS Builder can actually make crisp mipmaps as long as you set Sharpen to "None".
Note2: Raw8Bit (bump maps) / ExtRaw8Bit (shadows etc) are also uncompressed formats, but don't contain color data and weight around as much as DXT3.
/I've taken out this part from a long post I'm writing RN /
